001Bright Stars [Applause] [Music] was still there oh say does [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] thank you [Applause] please be seated good morning students family members Dr Stewart Mrs Lott somewhere up there and board members I want to welcome you here today and thank you for being here to honor our amazing students students you're at the end of one voyage and getting ready to start another voyage I want to share with you three pieces of advice first leave all the drama behind you nothing is worth it second get involved do as many things as you can but not so many that it stresses you out third remember your years at Fox Creek remember your teachers remember all the other people who are there to help you once a falcon always a falcon we are all here to
002celebrate these young students um so I'm going to wrap up my speech and get on to what we're here for first let me welcome student council president Valeria Zambrano [Applause] good morning I'm Valeria Zambrano a student council president you've probably seen me around campus originally when I sat down to write this speech I was at a loss for words and if you know me that rarely happens I just kept on thinking why does Fox Creek even matter most of us are really excited for what's ahead in high school so it may seem pointless to look to the past when all you can think about is moving on but this year was an interesting one so I encourage you to look back at least for a little bit I'll be honest it wasn't all sunshines and
003rainbows there were arguments fights and drama but in the mix there were amazing Parts too and those moments of failure we have to thank all those who stuck by our sides long enough to see us succeed so thank you thank you to the family members who drove us to school every day to those who made sure our grades were on track those who are in the stands right now and those who couldn't be here thank you to the teachers for always answering our question questions making sure we understood the content and always pushing us forward even though sometimes we didn't like it without parents and teachers checking up on everything we did a lot of us wouldn't be sitting here today but the peak of this year was definitely the friends we spent it with
004and the relationships we made we've had some great moments basketball games when all hope was lost and we finally took the lead in the third quarter sitting outside for what felt like an eternity at basketball Science Olympiad and softball tournaments getting sunburned in the process and still placing in the top five they're no the nervous moments preparing before big concerts njhs ceremonies and even speeches those are the big themes of school pride and what it means to be a falcon but what I appreciated more than that was the small things that happened every day whether it was laughing so hard we started to cry calling each other up because man I don't know how to do this I excel sharing funny stories about the crazy things teachers say or just spending time in each other's
005company y'all did a great job at all of it and all of these huge moments good and bad there was always a sense of caring and compassion towards one another so I found the answer to the question why does Fox Creek matter it's not the answer that your teachers may have told you to get you to pay attention in class saying that y equals MX plus b is really important in life it's simpler the reason why Fox Creek matters is because without it we would have no stories to tell and recollect on we wouldn't have built such wonderful friendships and we wouldn't have learned the lessons that we did on Integrity kindness and character so as we leave today newly promoted think about the greatest moments this year and the takeaway if we are able
006to bring these ideas of compassion friendship and selflessness to high school I know the next four years will be extraordinary thank you and congratulations [Applause] now help me welcome recent Mojave grad and student body president Erica cabato [Applause] good morning students teachers and parents it is my honor to stand before you today to celebrate the incredible achievements of our eighth grade class as they prepare to move up to high school before anything else I would like to introduce myself I'm Eric cabato and I recently just graduated high school I've had my fair share of experiences in those four years you're all about to partake in you may be scared anxious excited or not even care at all but regardless today marks an important milestone in your academic Journey as you prepare to move up to
007high school as you stand here ready to take the next step forward it's important to reflect on all the hard work and dedication that has brought you here Middle School was an experience like no other those years have brought you up and became an integral part of your life you've grown up to people that you are today a little spoiler for your journey it will grow so much more than you already have the high school will be a new and exciting challenge filled with opportunities to learn grow and succeed there are plenty of new opportunities that are available and don't be afraid to take advantage of them club sports and your staff want to help you to become better try out something new and be active in school the only way to get in your
008way of becoming successful is the fear of failure I've met a lot of people through the four years and some of them are able to assist me in the careers that I want to go to some of them can answer the questions that are answered and some of them even became my lifelong friends you see school isn't about attending classes and including completing assignments it's also about exploring your interests discovering your passions and building relationship with others and to do that you need to take advantage of the resources and opportunities that are available to you you'll be exposed to new ideas new people and new experiences that will help you shape your future but this new challenge comes with responsibility you will need to work harder study longer and manage your time more efficiently you'll
009need to make important decisions about your academic and personal life and you will need to take ownership of your education and your future from my personal experience I've learned to take responsibility for myself no one else will be there for you as much as you well it is important to take this time and build new relationships it is necessary to build a better relationship with yourself learn what you're comfortable with push yourself harder and as well as knowing when to give up I've had my experience of being active around school I'm president of two of the major clubs on campus interact and student council and it is a lot to juggle and of course really mentally challenging as much as I would like to tell you to never give up on something sometimes there are
010more important things that you should focus on rather than becoming the best student or the most involved person in school it has told me to find advice like this but is true and necessary don't be ashamed to seek help when you need it and there are a lot of people that are willing to help you as hard as it sounds so my so my message for you today is simple be confident be curious and be committed believe in yourself and your abilities ask questions and stay focused on your goals and remember success is not about what you achieve but also the person you become along the way as you prepare to leave middle school behind I want you to know that you have our support and encouragement we are proud of all of you that

016last words that you're gonna hear is the junior high students when you walk out of here you'll no longer be a Junior High student so I just want to leave you with a really simple message um and I'm going to call you my friends because I'm no longer your assistant principal you guys are my friends okay Amigos make every moment count all right time flies my friends if you ask your parents your Guardians your family members sitting up there they can probably remember their eighth grade promotion I know I do I was sitting in the bullet City Junior High Gym for the my eighth grade promotion 20 something years ago and they can probably tell you how it felt like just you had all this time and how you had so much time and you
017had high school coming up and you had so much time for that but time flies my friends those are now just memories for us what's exciting is that you get to live those moments now you get to live here and then go to high school and live those moments so with that I'll tell you don't wait okay don't wait too long to apply yourself because you're going to lose valuable time don't wait too long to get involved um that all starts the first day of your freshman year again don't wait to apply yourself don't wait to find something that you love don't wait to find friends that also have the same vision as you do that as soon as you step foot on any high school campus and you'll see amazing things happen my friends
