001[Music] so [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] do [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay i called to order the workshop for the bullhead city elementary school board on wednesday uh june 16th 2021 at 5 p.m roll call corey burgess here genie borland here thank you uh for our workshop today we have a couple things that we are going to be going over uh just so i can let the public know kind of how we're going to be doing this workshop this is a time when we will have some input from the community and thank you all for being here i love to hear from our community and what they have to say and those of you that have actually reached out to me i appreciate it uh thank you very much gave me a chance to

002respond uh but we will be going through these items as they go items as you can see on the monitors around you those of you this the first time joining us we have it on the overhead behind me and on the monitors to your left and right we'll take each of these items as we go and if you do have something you'd like to address during the workshop please raise your hand we'll get to you but we are in a time crunch because we do have to start our official meeting at six so please keep that in mind call to the public will be done during our regular meeting so if you do have a call the public please keep that for the for that section of the meeting uh this is for the items

003on the workshop that you'd like to discuss all right so moving on to item 1.3 outerwear dr stewart uh mr burgess and board members and you brought this up as a topic for discussion and we'd like to know what what you all are interested in talking about outerwear okay i'm the one that asked for this on the on the agenda or on the workshop to be discussed uh because i did receive just before school is out quite a few uh letters from students uh at our schools wanting us to discuss the possibility of changing our policy on outerwear they wanted to maybe adopt something a little different uh see where we're at and it i love it when our youth gets involved in the political process so i wanted to make sure that their voices

004were heard and we did discuss it now our current policy is that they have specific during cold weather students may wear shirts sweatshirts jackets in the appropriate school colors with the school logos inside and outside the buildings students may wear sweatshirts and jackets that are not school colors or with school logos outside only but when they enter the building those garments must be removed or covered with a garment layer that displays the school logo in appropriate school colors so from the letters that i received to summarize most of them they wanted to be able to wear the non-school issued sweaters and jackets inside the building um from what i've seen and heard there's kind of two parts to that one they like wearing their sweaters i mean i still see kids in the summertime wearing

005hoodies which i don't understand but um they like to to wear those hoodies but another is some of the letters did indicate that some of these classrooms were extremely cold um especially in the winter time now that is something that we will be discussing is is the setting of those thermostats to kind of monitor that so we don't get into one classroom that's 65 degrees and another one that's 95 degrees so we can get a standard in that for these children now i taught at when it was bullhead junior high my personal feelings on this is that we offer us a hooded sweatshirt to students that they can't afford one or don't have one so we try to take care of that situation in that in those in those instances but it is a great

006way of identifying the students where they're at that they are in property address code that everything is going the way it is and it also eliminates the possibility of anything being where it shouldn't while being in the classroom um so while i'd like to get some other thoughts i i personally think we need to keep the dress code as it is however you may have kids who can't afford the sweatshirts and that is not something they're going to go ask a teacher or a principal for at that age well what's usually happened i'm sorry to cut you up what you usually happen in that is we'd send them to the office because they have the improper address and they send them back same thing happens in high school if the kid shows up in improper

007dress uniform we send them to the office and they're sent back with a school shirt or school that doesn't cost them they're they're given that that item so that's feeling i i think is kind of mitigated by that fact i didn't know they offered them those on campuses so yeah i'm also in favor of maintaining the school sweatshirts um there's been some things that have happened that i think that we need to make sure that we keep a uniform both in and outerwear okay all right do we offer a pullover not just a zip up i know i've got teenagers they don't like zip ups so i'm not sure but we can check they do offer i don't know the school's yeah i think the ones that um that are provided either by legacy or

008by some of the service groups are the zip up ones but there's no particular reason that we could not provide you know offer some of those um i think that's a big reason is they don't like zip ups might be yeah that might be so let's look into that and see i will look into that thank you very much and i think you'll find it interesting that um and this is just a side note but i was in a meeting yesterday with that that included casey mulligan from malc and they have had a very relaxed uh policy about non-school outerwear and they're going to required school outerwear this year so because apparently there were some issues of you know who could afford what and the very reasons that we went to uniform shirts to begin

009with you know of some of that who had what and who didn't so i thought that was kind of interesting that you know while we were going to be talking about going the other way that they weren't talking that way any other information or okay thank you next item uh 1.4 the music program dr stewart uh this was an item that uh mr wah asked that we have on the agenda um i did ask her uh recently if you know what we could do to prepare for this what kind of information she wanted and she indicated mostly that she was just mostly interested in making sure that we are promoting our music programs at the middle school in the junior high you know and that we're not going to let those drop which we won't

010excuse me so beyond that she didn't ask that we prepare anything or bring a you know bring a any report or any information she just wanted to make sure that we were going to continue to offer band and strings and uh and at the junior high the course so which we are and we did talk a couple meetings ago about uh finding funding for instruments to buy more we're still checking into that yes absolutely can we get an update on that next week um you will have an update partly in that direction when we have the meeting the second meeting in july when we talk about the strategic plan and use of esser funds and all of our various budgets great any other questions on the music program all right uh 1.5 update on employee

011exit surveys we have been doing those hr has been submitting those or you know sending those out to folks we'll let it get through this month which ends this fiscal year and get all of the reports and we'll have uh we'll have a summary report for you at the first meeting in july all right awesome look forward to seeing that okay adam 1.5 1.6 district stance on critical race theory uh dr stewart you prepared a statement i have thank you for giving me the opportunity um uh when i first read senate bill 1532 the i saw it before it went to the education committees and and it it wasn't that number at that time when it was rewritten as senate bill 1532 and i read it i didn't associate anything that i read relative to

012critical race theory what i did react to was the limitations that the bill imposes on teaching history accurately and civics in a meaningful way and and i'm passionate about our teachers being able to teach and that kind of thing so the sections b and c have some real limitations uh and restrictions on how teachers can teach and so that was the basis for the letter that i wrote to our representatives and our senator i'm adamantly opposed to teaching critical race theory in k-12 schools and was have never been in favor of that so um it's unfortunate that there was that interpretation of my letter i was talking about restricting teachers teaching and not the part of that bill that addresses the what um so i apologize to the board and to the community for inadvertently

013creating a disruption in this whole process thank you um i i too would like to make a public statement we'll get to you one moment sir uh i too would like to make a public statement that i also am against critical race theory uh i am a us history teacher and i don't believe that uh anything like that should ever be in the classroom that is not something that should be taught we are we are given standards that we are supposed to teach in the classroom and those standards should be met too if there is ever to be a change that change has to be done here with this board um i do want to say thank you to our community uh like i said earlier when we first started talking i had a lot

014of people reach out to me uh give me a chance i think i responded to everybody who who did if i missed your letter i apologize because i did have a lot of them to respond to but i can adamantly say that i oppose critical race theory um and that i don't believe it has any place in the classroom especially with our children i can't speak and like i said in your in the statements i can't speak for other people because it's the first time our board has discussed this um and this is the reason i put it on the workshop is i wanted each person to have an opportunity to give their their belief to give their statement so the community knows where we stand important topic that everybody does need to be aware

015of uh where we are at and thank you all of you for for being here for bringing this to our attention uh so we know where you stand and and the people in this room and the numbers we have here speaks volumes this definitely tells us where you're at as we move into our meeting there's a couple other things that we've changed we've added and as we discussed because those decisions can't be made in a workshop uh when we get to that point you'll kind of see where where my mind was headed as i was putting together this agenda and you can see kind of the direction that i want us going so we can let the community know where we're at but that is personally my stance any other comments that is also my

016stance that is also my stance i will tell you that the first um i still can't think of that word draft thank you the first draft i had some issues with as well and part of it was to do with um that teachers were not allowed to to teach anything that was considered controversial and for me that was such a broad statement i was concerned about that and so um i was fully in support of dr stewart's letter because that original graph was not i didn't think clear enough for any school board to have youtube so i am yeah i'm very much against this kirk ray's theory yes [Music] president burgess and board members uh thank sisson yeah now okay thank you for holding this i was one of the people who reached out to

017victoria i was i'm sure everybody does know who you are but if you okay i'm hildy angus and um i live here in bullhead city and i'm your county supervisor who i represent bullhead city and i was here last week so let me just give you because um i think we have to just clear something up for me okay and some for the community because we've been talking about it for a week so i knew nothing about this and i got this letter from leo biasucci our state representative and he sent it to me and he said is bullhead city elementary are they against are they for critical race theory because this letter is asking me to oppose sb 1532 which is a bill and there are some issues with it but primarily it's it's

018against it bans critical race theory and i'm like well that's news to me and that's when i reached out to you and to miss borland and i came here and unfortunately last week there was no quorum so i did speak to miss stewart and you know ms stewart was kind enough to take some time and talk to me and she told me about her feelings and that some of the stuff in it but i just have to say that your letter belies what you're saying because your letter starts by saying having grown up in the 1950s and 60s in a small 99 caucasian midwestern town i did not know until i entered college the systemic nature of racism nor until i entered the work world the systemic nature of male preference that doesn't sound like

019just some of the issues that you brought up for problems that sounds like what they're trying to get in on critical race theory while i did not experience racism firsthand until i worked for public school on the navajo reservation in the 1980s i did experience male preference from college and until as recently as 10 years ago here in bullhead city while the article reference is referenced below expresses my concerns more fully i certainly more eloquently than i can i cannot overstate the importance of its message arizona's citizens and arizona's legislature cannot continue to demand and expect higher academic success while denying a significant portion of its population both native american and hispanic knowledge about their identities nor can arizonans expect our future leaders of whatever cultural background to be effective without the critical thinking skills

020that allow them to make informed decisions so there's some good things and some troubling things in that so as i was listening to ms stewart and accepting what she was telling me that that's not what she meant okay she handed me a piece of paper and said that she was going to be talking about something called social and emotional learning sel and it was copywritten from the oakland school district and i had never heard anything about it and again because this is what it's for right we hear social emotional alert how can you be against that right it's social it's emotional right but after doing a lot more research i'm going to tell you what sel is it's critical race theory in a warm and fuzzy costume that's what it is and they're and they're

021trying to get it into rural districts rural elementary schools because they want to start them young okay and again social and emotional sounds good i'm just asking you please be aware of the tricks we are in a cultural war here for the hearts and minds of our country and our children you are the front-line workers you are here you represent us right you represent us the taxpayers the citizens and ms stewart works for you and i know this is being on the board member the only hire we get as a board is our direct report which for you as a superintendent for me as the county manager i'm going to tell you something and this is the god honest truth if our county manager wrote a letter like this without us knowing he'd be gone

022completely god because this all reflects back to you the job of the superintendent is to make you look good it's true so i'm asking you to please as you go forward with curriculum look for the catchwords equity sounds good right equity equity is not equality we in america we we offer equal opportunities we cannot it is impossible to offer equal outcomes and it is a disservice and a minus missing child abuse to try to make children believe that all that all everyone is everyone's outcomes will be equal so what's going to happen and i looked honestly i looked at you know the grades from your schools and you know they're not too good so kids are going to come out with sort of crappy education there's a lot of reasons for that i'm not blaming

023you but um so kids are going to come out with a not a great education thinking that they're oppressed thinking that they don't have a chance in america and that is not what america is so please please i'm begging you and i i gotta say that i know i'm a little disappointed that the full board is not here today because we wanted everybody on record as to where they stand on critical race theory but i again i thank you so much ms stewart i'm going to take you at your word uh for what you said but sel no thank you okay we will get one at a time okay do keep in mind that we do have a time limit um so i would like to hear from all of you go ahead thank you

024board thank you corey my name is steve d'amico a bullhead city resident and vice mayor bullhead city um hildy pretty much touched on i kind of i'm kind of lost down for words because she pretty much said almost everything i wanted to say um i when i read the letter i thought man is this what our school board thinks too because it was very misleading and uh anyway since she already went over that i'm going to go over a couple of things real quick on the les i believe it is and show you what hildy meant there social awareness establish and maintain healthy interactions and relationships across diverse communities embrace diversity and take the perspectives of people different from oneself demonstrate empathy for people similar to and different from yourself basically i'm not going to

025take up time everybody else here needs to speak but almost everything on here people different than you people different from you that can be interpreted in many ways but i did research too and this is just a watered-down portion of of uh critical race theory thank you for your time thank you one second [Applause] thanks hello um my name's abigail brown um i'm here tonight because i oppose critical race theory and emotional support and social skills immensely and i think that i bring a different perspective to the board because i've gone to the schools in bullhead from kindergarten to 12th grade and i'm currently going to be a junior in college in august so i did prepare a little bit of something that i wanted to touch on regarding the letter and the drafts because

026i did review the letter multiple times and i i do agree with what they're saying about the letter it is very misleading and so in the first part of the letter there is reference to censorship in the letter i believe the exact quote exactly is to deny this part of education is censorship and yet the biggest censorship of all going on is we are teaching our youth to not stand up for themselves and that is wrong this social skills and emotional support proposal wants teachers to tell your kids who they should be how they should act and what they should say and this is a part of the problem if we don't allow the next generation to become their own people we don't encourage them to how do we expect them to go out into

027the world and solve problems without someone holding their hand or telling them what to say or how to act we need to encourage the youth now more than ever to think creatively to not be afraid to fail but most importantly to not be afraid to succeed our teachers are underpaid and overworked and now we want them to teach students about deep in-depth feelings and social skills things why don't we focus on things like reading comprehension that we are severely lacking in and if we truly want to add more skills to help our students why don't we teach them things like how to handshake a future employer or person they meet and as they get older why don't we implement skills like resume building and interviewing things that are actually going to be with students the

028rest of their lives whether they decide to go to college or not one of the biggest social skills of all that cannot be taught nor softened nor shown on a powerpoint is rejection yes that sounds brutal but rejection is fundamental to everyone and the younger a child learns that failure is inevitable the more successful they will be in the real world because they won't be afraid to fail i'm about to be a junior in college and every day i see kids that have never faced rejection and you can tell because they are afraid to follow their dreams they are afraid to even dream because they're afraid of what happens when they fail we need to teach the youth that when you fail you get back up know how no matter how many times you fall

029down and lastly tonight on the draft i read deeply into the discussion about responsibility no student wants to sit in a lecture about responsibility to teach responsibility you can't assign homework about it instead students need to have expectations they need to understand that when they don't do an assignment or study for an upcoming test their grade will go down and they need to understand the implications of that and they also need to understand the benefits of what happens when they do turn in their homework on time and study for their tests we need to teach our youth what it feels like to fail when you don't step up to the plate but also what success feels like when you do so that our youth will choose success no matter what they do or where they

030go lastly tonight the emotional support aspect of this letter is what i find most alarming i am someone who suffers from mental health it started severely when i was a junior in high school and i still struggle with it to this day however the school district is not responsible for teaching a child emotional support if your child needs more emotional support maybe they need better parenting or maybe they need to talk to a therapist their teacher is someone they should trust and be able to confide in but a teacher is not their parent and certainly not a therapist mental health is super important and our society needs to pay more attention to it but the school district is not the place to have a child's teacher become their therapist i'm asking you as members of

031this distinguished school board to please look at some of the drafts on this letter and to ask if that is what is best for the youth my little brother will be starting fifth grade this fall and this community and the people in this community matter i care deeply about this community and i want my little brother to also as he goes through school and life our youth matters it matters what we center youth out in the world with please before you make a decision just think about what this could do to the children in this amazing city and how it could affect them thank you for your time and consideration tonight hi i'm kim godwin i'm the principal of diamondback school here in bullhead city nice hold on um this was a a very heavy

032topic to to come into because i see what we're doing on the ground um the political peace aside with regards to the social emotional learning that we're doing in the schools is to teach children how to be responsible for their own behavior and their own actions and to be accountable and to fix problem problems the young lady that just spoke one of the ish big many issues she talked about was that there there is we're not teaching kids this but this is what we are teaching and we are helping our teachers by giving them this training to help them learn how to guide kids into being more responsible at five years old they do not have the emotional or cognitive capacity to understand on their own the consequences of their actions we help and we

033guide them the bill that just passed that prevents almost all suspensions under grade you know grade four and under is a key piece in this we have to help them develop so that their behaviors are appropriate for society that they are accepting of all people you know i look at the population of our schools i've looked through the the racial diversity of our schools it doesn't you know our kids come from all over the world and they they all are getting a very good education here in bullhead city because we have adopted curriculums that address the needs of all of our kids they have they have units starting in the very low low levels that do teach critical thinking it teaches them not to just look at at what is on the news or what

034is being given to them by you know people randomly they're taught to think about it to not have to to be able to have their own ideas so that they're developing into the kind of adults that are going to help our country become as strong as it possibly can um i apologize i i was not planning to speak tonight i can honestly say that i can back up dr stewart because i've been working with her for the last year there is nothing that she has ever indicated that would would say that she is moving in a direction of the critical race theory i've never seen anything from the board it's this is we are we're taking care of our kids here and there are heavy issues right now in this country and in this world

035it's not and i having been abroad for five years it's not just here in america it is everywhere and our kids are being subjected to it at a level that they're not ready for so we're trying to help them socially and emotionally understand what they need to understand to be successful in school and in life you know the issues about consequences for not turning in homework or the rewards for turning it in that's part of what we teach them um i deal with a lot of discipline with our students at diamondback and i can tell you that the kids respond when we not just work with the behaviors that they have but we try to develop their emotional iq as well as their intellectual iq and that does need to and that is what our

036sel program does to balance in the schools so thank you [Applause] thank you i'm clint robbins just as a side note we can't hear you in the back unless you turn your mics on we'd appreciate it we'll speak a little louder or something i can hear you very good okay anyway i want to commend the young lady that spoke i think we needed to get back to reading writing and arithmetic i think sex education does not bling and begin begin in elementary school that has no place there critical race theory or whatever you want to call it has no place for and accountability i'm totally against you say we cannot suspend anybody in fourth grade or under you have to match accountability to what the child did if he brings a gun to school he

037needs to be suspended he needs to learn there's a consequence for doing that now if he spit bombs somebody he shouldn't be suspended but you can't say no you cannot suspend anybody under fourth grade that's just your circumstances you have to leave that open uh that's not our stance just so you understand that was that was a legislative bill that wasn't us oh we do suspend as low as you know so yes that's that's not our state anyway i think reading writing arithmetic get back to the basics high school teach them how to change a tire how to do checkbook this kind of stuff they don't have the people skills when they get in the open market to be accountable thank you thank you [Applause] hi i'm nan nickel and i'm here tonight well mike

038down they can't hear you sorry i came here tonight i had a lot of things i wanted to talk about most people have already talked about them one thing that hasn't been addressed is critical race theory or this social emotional learning actually comes straight off the unesco website which is the united nations and it's part of agenda 21 agenda 2030 and agenda 2050 which is a complete takeover of all nations to make us a global government this is serious stuff i've known about this for years my congressman knows about it my legislators in arizona know about it you must know about it you cannot be tell me you don't know about this this is not conspiracy theory and it's right off the website from 2021 for equity and sel resources emerging insights on advancing social

039and emotional learning as a lever for equity and excellence equity is the opposite of excellence when you have kids that are really smart that are not allowed to be able to process be able to progress in their uh learning and they kind of dumb down the people i don't know if you've heard that the deliberate dumbing down of america by charlotte izumi if you've read that book she goes into great detail how this is going on our education system for years in fact it's been going on for many of these people in this room weren't even born yet when this was implemented so we have to face facts we are at a turning point and we cannot return if we don't get our kids educated properly to love our country to love america and americans

040that's what i was taught when i went to school i was born and raised in san francisco i had people from all over the world that i was raised with i have not a racist bone in my body but i really have a test i detest people who are so arrogant that think they can take the parents place and teach these kids what the parents are teaching so i'm sorry i'm a little bit upset i don't mean to take all my anger out on you and it just happened but please pay attention we're serious here all of us we showed up i've this is the third meeting i've been to today this is how important this is to me we have to stop this in our schools we have to learn to have our children

041be children and love our country and love america thank you my name is janice johnston i'm a member of the community and i'm a humanist i don't think that indoctrination is the way to go if i may i printed out the 17 page education week from june 10th i'd just like to read the quick editor's note saying critical race theory has exploded into the public sphere helped no doubt by conserve conservative lawmakers pushing for new laws in numerous states to restrict what schools teach about race and racism in america but there's widespread misunderstanding and misuse of the term what it means and how it intersects with teaching and learning in k through 12. in this spotlight learn what critical race theory is what it isn't how it's a practice not a curriculum and just that

042makes me support everything dr stewart put in her letter if we're practicing racism we're going to have racist outcomes if we're using it as a curriculum and now we're having to shy away and put a chill on teachers that may be able to put things in context and tell a child we can't discuss that it might make joey in the corner feel uncomfortable then we're not able to educate them we're not able to instill critical thinking skills because they don't have the tools they need to formulate a full picture they will be indoctrinated and then they'll have a culture shock when they enter higher learning or move to another area abroad somewhere a little bit more liberal bastiony and they'll have that culture shocked because they've been indoctrinated by things that a small sect of

043people believe to be the truth and it's a political rhetoric as hildy said it is a culture war and unfortunately the schools get stuck with culture wars all the time and racism is just one of those recently to be attributed to the schools um i did want to bring up things like if a child asks for more context in a history or civics class where they might be talking about um japanese internments during world war ii would that even be taught to them would a teacher feel uncomfortable teaching it to him these are things we have to talk about because it's a process it's not a curriculum it's not like reading writing arithmetic oh critical racial theory it is a way of teaching it so an english teacher may want to give maya angelou as

044a signed reading but that could hold her back and that would hinder a child from broadening their perspective and understanding of the world outside of this little bubble that has been created so that to me seems like it just leads to anti-intellectualism hiding information sheltering the individuals doesn't teach anybody resiliency it doesn't teach them critical thinking um it just leaves them ignorant of facts and prone to conspiracy theories thank you after she goes we have about 25 minutes left in our meeting in our workshop sorry okay hi i'm nikki mccusker my kids go to diamondback and to bullhead city junior high and i've never been to one of these but i read a a paper on a bullhead city elementary school district letterhead from carolyn stewart that voiced her own personal opinion on a on

045a letterhead with bullhead so i was thinking that bullhead's going to change into this critical race theory stuff that is uh exactly opposite of what we should be doing in arizona it actually infuriates me to the point that my kids will be pulled out of the school and home taught which i do not have time for but i will do if this is implemented into our into our education with the kids here because this is not teaching them reading writing arithmetic this is teaching them about racism by being uh by being racist you know what i mean that's exactly it doesn't it it doesn't make sense to me at all it's it's uh it infuriates me i had so much to say until i got up here but i agree with you know i just

046it's uh it's something that should be left to the homes people need to be able to parent their own children school is for school you don't need to emotionally support or teach my children that because that's what they get at home with love and discipline you know um uh i guess i i made my point in what i wanted to say but there's a lot more to say and we don't have that much time so i'm not going to that's it okay barbara one second we got a gentleman you'll be after him well we got one in front of you then you come up good afternoon my name is eric peterson my wife and i live here in the city in regards to the critical race theory uh the acceptance of one another's race the

047ability to get along one another can't be taught in a class it has to be taught at home when i was growing up i lived in southeast san diego from 66 to 86 i was one of two white kids in an all black neighborhood the place was a real dive it was bad once a week at least i had to fight my way to school fight my way home whatever so i didn't live through a critical race theory i lived through a critical race reality okay everybody there we all grew up we had the same opportunities might not have the same level of support but we didn't get support from school we got support from home some people's idea of support as i guarantee different than mine so who's to say that a school's idea

048or a different individual's idea of emotional support for my child is going to be the same point of view as me and my wife i don't think any responsible parent would agree with somebody telling their child oh it's okay it's okay well i assure you it isn't okay there were no school programs to say okay eric it's okay you're gonna be all right no it isn't this guy is going to kill me when i leave the classroom we had to do for ourselves we had to figure things out and to this day i don't have a prejudiced bone in my body like this woman over here said i don't i am grateful i live through that because i don't have people to fill my head with a bunch of bs people need to live life

049and figure things out this isn't a perfect world not a perfect society [Applause] you can't teach children every single thing and it sure isn't going to happen in a classroom and as far as censorship when it comes to education you guys don't teach astrophysics either do you here no is that censorship i don't think so there's a time and place for everything and like this gentleman said reading writing arithmetics that's what school's about you know let's not be psychiatrists or psychologists that's not school i don't know what that is you know i really don't and we need to get back to the basics people thinking too too much too much too much we need to intervene in this and that no you don't no you don't that's what growing up is all about you'll figure

050it out they'll figure it out right thanks for your time thank you [Applause] hello my name is barbara pape i was a remediation special aide teaching teacher's aide and i wanted to go to i wanted to go to i tried to go to finish up my college for to be a teacher but i kept seeing this programming of these children's and and of indoctrination in the schools i did not like it that was one issue the other issue our government has put in too many special interest issues into our school school is not to be applied to with the special interest people we need to get these kids in the right direction and the direction is reading writing and math special classes for learning how to do a checkbook and make it and and accounting

051bookkeeping learning how to cook learning how to um do um mechanical things on their car they need just basic living properties and learning know how to survive because this world is not easy and if you guys want to continue to program these kids in a different and awkward and very strange way it is not it is not permissible in my mind you are injuring our children you better believe it you are injuring the children with these particular things and that's this should never be in elementary levels this should be in the primary levels sec the sexual issues should be in and then and the racial issues would be part of introducing it but we also like the gentleman said before we can learn it as we go we have to learn how to get the

052challenges the solutions and also know when we're wrong and new eyes are wrong in adopting this thank you [Applause] hi my name is mary rutz i've been in the community for 33 years i'm a local real estate broker and i just have a question for the board or for dr stewart you said that your letter was taken out of context or that it wasn't i assume we all took it out of context then because i read the same thing that you were teaching going to teach critical race theory along with male preference which i find amusing actually but if you if that isn't true if that's not what you meant then are you willing to write another letter explaining to the community on bullhead city paper like you did the first time telling us exactly

053what you did mean because am i the only one here that misunderstood and that letter is circulating throughout the county so i'd like to know if we can get a correction exactly what you did mean so that we know with the permission of the board i would do that yes that's one of the reasons i place that on the agenda also so we can address that situation when we get there great thank you yes sir my name is william hart i live in palo verde meadows my wife nancy excuse me and i moved here in 2006 and we opened the sylvan learning center tutoring and for three years we taught primarily elementary and secondary students although we did do up to adults my wife was a career teacher k through eight i was not but

054i taught the math and she taught the reading and the writing in all of the years we were married we never ever once heard any discussion in any school at any level of wokism critical race theory principles of marxism socialism communism at the elementary and junior high levels and this is the way it needs to be at the elementary school and middle school level we're teaching reading writing and arithmetic and we need to teach love responsibility truth telling we need to make them excuse me good citizens i am also running for state representative for legislative district five and i want you to know that these are the primary bulwarks pieces of my campaign and i will talk about all of these issues in my campaign and i don't want bullhead city elementary schools to be

055my prime example of what's wrong with our education system in this country thank you hello my name is melissa pacias and um i hope i don't start to cry because i always cry when i speak i am a new resident two-year resident my husband and i moved our family here so excited when school we were in school school closed in march my senior didn't get her senior prom she didn't get her graduation she missed out on everything that she was looking forward to my fifth grader didn't get any of her fifth grade events coming from l.a county so when we just said okay let's go pack them up they moved here in march my two older girls before my husband and i and my younger one they got jobs right away with the city in

056the kennel they're working here they love it here as a 19 year old and a 21 year old we get go back to la and they're just like we get off the 605 freeway and they don't want to be there they want to be here our excitement was my daughter got to go to school she started school here we didn't we're all about not going to public because i've always tried to get them in a what i assumed was a better school didn't always work out that better school wasn't always a better school but here she had a great time at the middle school she learned a lot she was able to get the music program in that she was missing out on back in l.a that was the big thing over there i'm talking

057to all my friends who are still teachers because i was an instructional aide at our school district for years with special ed and so i know a lot of the different things that people did and how you teach i have my old girls had special needs as well in certain um in certain elements so to come here and learn that we are able to go to school at home they're not at school she's here making new friends at home they're all i keep staying home because i haven't got it out of my head yet that um they're on the computer they're still doing things you know everything everybody said here if we went to this whole critical race theory i agree with the other parent i would be pulling my daughter out of school my

058husband called me from la today to tell me you need to go to this meeting you need to be there you need to hear what's going on see what they're meaning what's happening because to be here and be able to go to school and be taught as opposed to being back in l.a where you're not allowed to stand outside the vet's office without a mask on is ridiculous that's what i had to do this weekend so please be open to allowing parents to teach their kids at home what it is to be a good person you you i my 12 year old when i told her what they might be teaching she says no mom i might get in trouble if i say a bad word but i'm going to say a bad word if

059i'm being forced to talk to learn something that i don't think is right she says you know things that come up have been that way forever and ever and ever um and that's what life is life is you deal with it and i was always taught with my dad you deal with it you make what life is everyone's life is harder than yours you learn how to deal with that at home and school is again learning at school my daughter graduated and did not know how to complete an envelope to mail it out she went and said mom when we moved here she had to go on an appointment mom my letter came back what letter my unappointment letter why i don't know what says it i go send me a picture she addressed the

060envelope to herself okay she graduated she had ropes and whatever she graduated and could not and did not know how to fill out or to address an envelope that is ridiculous that is embarrassing that that is how she was taught my other one she did they they just don't know that that's it's ridiculous to go all through high school and not know how to do that they can't read cursive cannot read cursive my 19 year old went to a tutor who still to this day after being her tutor six years ago still sends her a letter and cards and does it purposely in cursive my mom writes purposely in cursive so my daughter can learn we started this in summer literally printed a whole bunch of paperwork and cursive so they can learn it because

061they don't know how to do that they don't know how to go to a library and look for a book and i'm an avid reader they don't know that my daughter didn't even read until kovitz started in march she would not pick up a book now i can't get her to put she was made fun of and teased by her teachers because she was always getting in trouble for reading her book so i want to thank you so far our first school year here has been great but if these things come into play and i feel that what's being taught in the classroom and i would hope we'd be made aware because we're not we're not allowed in the classrooms anymore and being a pta mom and working in the schools the hardest thing i

062went through withdrawals this year is not being able to step on campus and participate in events that we would be made aware of what is going on with our students thank you thank you we have 10 minutes left yes hello community members of the board um i'm anna boyd i'm a teacher at mojave high school i also have two kids in the elementary district here and um i was kind of going to come today but i forgot and then i was watching online and there were a few things said that kind of disturbed me so i had to come and i wanted to talk about a couple of things the first thing is uh in regards to what critical race theory is for the record i am not a supporter of critical race theory so

063before you jump on me all right um there's a couple things to know i am puerto rican and cuban my father comes directly from cuba he came here to america in 1959. um i've experienced unlike miss stewart i have experienced racism especially because i grew up in miami and i had a tendency to get very dark that people would call me racially charged names not only of the latino variety but also of the black variety i have been sexually uh assaulted and i have been sexually discriminated unfortunately most of my sexual discrimination have has come from females okay and the vast majority of the racial tensions that i've experienced in my life have very rarely come from white people i have experienced it from white people but very rarely it's usually people of other races

064okay i went to high school here at mojave high school i absolutely loved my experience even though the fact that my parents forgive me dad for spilling a little tea here my parents were drug addicts my mom was more aggressive of a drug addict and i was homeless throughout high school and i lived in a hotel or other people's houses during my entire high school experience a lot of people do not know that about me because i kept it pretty close to the chest and usually when someone found out they were no longer my friend so i didn't talk about it okay um what is crt crt was developed in the 1970s for those who don't know what critical race theory actually is and it was developed because they uh saw that the civil rights

065movement was stalling in regards to the benefits that were coming from that and so a bunch of scholars and uh lawyers and people came together and created critical race theory at its base when it was first created it was created to figure out why the civil rights movement wasn't progressing as far as it was okay but it later changed and for the record i have attended a professional development on critical race theory i have read the writings by delgado who was one of the original founders of critical race theory so i actually am very familiar what critical race theory is and what it stands for okay um so over time though it became to become something else as people began to build upon what critical race theory is the five tenets of critical race theory

066according to the founders of critical race theory is the notion that racism is ordinary and not aberrational okay and the outlier of that is that people are by nature racist okay so you're taking something that is different if you take a baby i think everybody knows babies respond more positively to people that look like them okay we are comfortable by nature our biology you want to talk about evolution or anything like that we are more comfortable with people that look like us because nature evolution the history of our people have shown us that often people who look different to us are going to cause violence to us and we are afraid of them okay but through time we have gone to learn right that that's not that's not happening in children in general as they

067grow up right and as they get older they see people as people they don't see them as this violence or whatever this changes as we get older okay and we begin to experience things so for example if you've ever been to miami there is a strong line drawn between the cuban population and the black population okay even though there are afro cubans the afro-cubans have a tendency to lean into the cuban population okay there's a strong line why is that strong line there it's because there is violence perpetuated often on both sides against each other so when i grew up black people were often the enemy even though i have afro-cuban roots but the other side the people in miami were often the enemy not because they were black but because they often hurt us

068my grandmother was murdered by a black man so that's how i was raised to see that and it wasn't until later that i began to realize that that was the community that i was growing up in but that wasn't the norm does that make sense it was the community it was not the norm okay but i was afraid as a child a lot of times for people of color because that is what i saw all the time it was not kindness it was not love and it wasn't until we left miami that i began to see a different side to people i grew i lived two years in cherokee north carolina where i was practically adopted into the cherokee nation by the people there okay they were loving they were kind and they showed me

069a whole different side to different races and different people right they completely opened my eyes to who people are and one of the things that i learned from them is that we are not inherently bad we are not we are taught that okay we are taught to be bad we are not inherently bad all people white black whatever color you want to be what other color you are you're not inherently bad or racist you do not want to attack other people you want to love you want empathy you want all that stuff that is something that is developed and grown into us through time based upon our life and our experiences a child who is attacked by a dog will grow up afraid of dogs are dogs bad no that is her experience or that

070child's experience people women who are attacked by men will often go years and years and years being afraid of men are all men bad no it is life experiences that changes how we interact with the world around us but we are not inherently racist the idea of interest convergence is the second tenet of crt and it has to do with people coming together who have like interests the social construction of race that race is beyond just the color of your sin that is skin that is a social construction that can actually be broken or brought together the idea of storytelling and counter storytelling similar to what i've just done to you now that people's stories have power they get into people's hearts and into their empathy and because of that you can convince people whatever

071you want to convince them with a good story and then if a person has a counter story they can actually war against the thought that you thought was correct because they now have a counter story the what ifs that i'm going to change that this is different blah blah blah right and the finally the thing that has kind of been at the core of a lot of this is the notion that whites have actually been the recipients of civil rights legislation okay so one of the core tenants of the civil rights era of the civil rights movement and of crt in response to that was a lot of the rumors that lyndon b johnson was a racist and in fact he was he was quite the racist right if you read about the reports and

072stuff like that he was quite the racist okay there are two notions to the thought of president johnson's racism the first is that uh one he was a racist but two a lot of his quotes in regards to how the civil rights uh legislation came to pass and the black person's right to vote came to pass was that he did it to get their vote okay and then of course you have the opposite side where he was just playing the long game in order to get people to support that legislation so in the crt belief is everything that was done was done to help white people it wasn't actually done to help black people there is evidence of this let's be honest we can look at the red line districts that would have been uh

073were marked off because they were low-income districts and stuff like that which were mostly black communities that were uh were not able to get bank loans because uh they were such a low income or a high crime area so there are instances in our history where we can see evidence where crt was actually kind of correct okay and so this is not a denial of what is the good parts of the critical race theory because there are parts that are accurate but the biggest thing the thing that i have actually a long list trust me i've you know and there's no way that i'm going to get through all of this in 10 minutes but the biggest the biggest thing you know yeah i'm going down i'm probably already at the time limit but i'm

074gonna i'm gonna keep this pretty quick here in the last part here the biggest thing is what is considered white privilege and institutional racism okay um white privilege is the belief that you are privileged because of the color of your skin that you're not going to be followed in the grocery store um when you look a little sneaky because you're white versus the person who is a latin or a black person person of color of some sort um and also it's the belief and it's kind of interesting the way it was actually worded by a couple of the writers of critical race theory was it's like as property whereby whiteness is the ultimate property that whites alone can possess valuable valuables just like property or they're valuable just like a property and then everybody else

075is renters right and we all know the difference between renting and owning a house right and so white people by the nature of their skin are the owners and everybody else is the renters okay so the american dream is more likely and more attainable for the whites i'm not white and i have gone and done exactly what i said i was going to do in my life so far of course it's not over hopefully right i got time and then of course you have institutional racism that racism is actually institutionalized it's in all of the places we work and everything like that okay there is evidence of this but not to the degree that they look at now my biggest thing is the fact that i am married to a white man and my children

076are white okay they look white right my daughter has blonde hair and blue eyes and white skin right but and yet she's half hispanic right but people are gonna see her for the whiteness of her skin and nothing else right and then she's going to be told that because of her skin and this is a proponent of it that she has a privilege and i'm going to tell you right now as a latina woman as a hispanic woman that there is nothing more offensive to me than telling me that the only way i can reach a bar is if you lowered it for me [Applause] i worked hard to get to where i'm at my husband's disabled he was bedridden for two years and i finished my math degree while i was taking care of

077my three kids working and did that there is no bar that you can give me that i can't reach and it has nothing to do with the color of my skin and any anything that says otherwise is offense to me and to a lot of people of color there are people of color who do of course believe in the critical race theory that's no denying that but i am a part of a large group of people of color that do not we do not want you to tell us that we cannot reach where you can go because of the color of our skin there is nothing more racist than that [Applause] okay that's the last one we can take for a workshop we have to get into our regular meeting uh so with that i

078need a motion to adjourn our workshop i'll make a motion and we adjourn the workshop second all in favor aye corey burgess aye jeanne borland aye charlene diaz saw moved being that we are just past six now we are going to move directly into our regular meeting so at this time i would like to call to order uh the regular meeting of the bullhead city elementary school board on wednesday june 16th 2021 at 6 00 p.m um roll call corey burgess here jeanne borland here charlene d is here citizens present if you'd please sign the sheet in the back uh and if you guys would join me for a pledge of allegiance i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united one states under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you item

0792.6 oh i'm sorry 2.5 call to the public we have a few that were mailed in that i would read do we have any others that were not addressed earlier that would like to now do you have a did you fill out a form that's right let me read the ones that i have first and then we'll come to to you in just a minute while we're waiting if you could put a form so we have it in our record i had three mixed up all my papers i only see two now oh i rub on it okay all right i do have uh three calls of the public that were sent to us by mail i'm gonna read those to you so you can hear those this time our first one is from our

080representative leo biazucci okay i was worried i was gonna get that right uh dear bullhead city school board parents and members of the community on may 21st i received a letter from bullhead city of bullhead city school district letterhead from superintendent stewart i'm always grateful to hear from members of our community especially when it involves certain legislation that we are running on a state level in this letter superintendent stewart expressed her concern for senate bill sb-1532 a bill that would have banned critical race theory being taught in arizona's public schools this letter concerned me because i didn't think i had to worry about critical race theory being implemented or supported in my district and i was under the impression that the entire school board was supportive of this letter with school board members being an

081elected position i want to know if this letter came from the entire board or just superintendent stewart it is important that the parents understand where the school board and superintendent stand regarding to what is being taught in our schools if the bullhead city school board implements critical race theory the parents deserve to know more importantly the superintendent or school board intend to implement this type of curriculum the parents need to be informed i want to make some i want to make something crystal clear to everybody here today critical race theory has no place in our public schools period it is it is identity-based marxism and does not belong anywhere near our children i support banning critical race theory in our schools and i will do everything in my power to make sure we pass legislation

082that does just that i want to give all of you some examples of what happens with this propagand when this propaganda enters our school one superintendent of california and elementary school force first graders to deconstruct their racial and sexual identities and rank themselves according to power and privilege in springfield missouri a middle school forced teachers to locate themselves on an impression matrix based on the idea that straight white english-speaking christian males are members of the oppressor class and must atone for that privilege and convert and convert rights and cover white supremacy in philadelphia an elementary school forced fifth graders to celebrate black communism and simulate black power rallies to free 1960s radical angela davis from prison where she had once been held on charges of murder in seattle the school district told white teachers that

083they are guilty of spirit murder against black children and must bankrupt their privilege in acknowledgment of their thieved inheritance this is what you want to be you want to be taught to your children this type of racism decisive divisive hateful garbage does not belong anywhere near our children especially in our public schools if you want to teach this ideology at home so be it but if our schools are going to try to indoctrinate our children with marxist propaganda i will fight back against the happenings for as long as i am your state representative thank you and god bless leo biasuchi arizona house major whip arizona representative district five uh the next one is from cindy crawford um in response to your letter urging politicians to vote no on sb1532 i strongly oppose your position yours

084is yet another attended college and became woke up to this matter of racism male privilege and white supremacy crt is a political ideology and social justice movement rooted in marxism and straight out of the communist manifesto political movements and ideology opposed on young students is a form of abuse crt starts out standing innocent sounding innocent but teaches young children they are bad oppressors or oppressed based on nothing more than the color of their skin which is racist in itself it teaches cap it teaches capitalism individualism etc are all bad anti-american ideologies often educators use the excuse banning crt will inhibit teaching history this is nothing more than an inaccurate excuse working in the school system myself for 26 years i know this there are there is nothing you can say to debate me or change

085my mind i have seen much firsthand don't go down this path please stick to the teaching of the subjects objectively honestly and without trying to influence or impose personal political positions or ideologies this is not the function of education the crt is dangerous mentally unhealthy not needed to teach good citizenship or history every taxpayer citiz every tax paying citizen has a vested interest in our children they are our future say no to crt in any form this is not the answer sincerely cindy crawford bullhead city resident mother and grandmother [Applause] this one does not have a name hello board members thank you for taking the time to read and listen to my opinion i'm a teacher in the school district currently teaching the middle school level i'm writing to ask the board to consider revising

086the staff dress code for the upcoming school year specifically as it pertains to visible tattoos i understand that this dress code was last revised 11 years ago and since then many schools in our community have adopted a less restrictive dress code i personally feel that the requirement for staff to cover any visible tattoos should be removed with the exception of vulgar or profane words or images i do have three tattoos all flowers which i got when i was 21 years old and did not become a certified teacher until i was 40. i have worked all my adult life with at-risk children first in a residential facility 15 years and as a teacher's aide while completing my bachelor's degree and finally as a teacher this school district has been the only place where i have had

087to cover my tattoos on a daily basis which is really more obvious than if i just left them showing i feel that this policy is one with no real purpose i did part of my student teaching my first year as a teacher working with one of our local charter schools which does not require their teachers to cover tattoos it has been there has been no backlash from parents or students toward the teachers and they still they are still representative and seen as authority figures on campus and in class i hope the board reconsider moving the staff dress code requirement from the policy book especially in the upper grade levels fifth through eighth thank you thank you for your consideration on this topic those are our three mailed in don't forget yes i apologize um i

088did not read our notice this is the time where public may speak to the governing board regarding issues with the dir within the jurisdiction of the governing board and subject to reasonable time space and amount of restrictions the governing board may establish uh comments are limited to three minutes per individual unless specifically weighed by the governing board at the conclusion of the call the public individual members of the governing board may respond to criticism made by those who have addressed the board may have staff to review a matter or may ask that a matter be placed on a future agenda however the governing board cannot take action on matters that have not been noticed in advance as part of the agenda so we just have the one okay thank you eva corbett bullhead city can

089you hear me okay a little louder okay uh i'm just wondering why are these two board members that are not present one i know is out of town i don't know personal issue with the other how are we going to know how they how they feel about or how they um you know what their platform is about this issue if they're not here and why aren't they here this is a very important important meeting for the people also about how are we going to know what actually is going on in the school room if we can't go visit i understand parents are not our non-parents are not allowed to visit the school rooms so how are we going to know what's actually being taught thank you okay that's our last call to the public thank

090you all right item three the consent agenda we need a motion to adopt the consent agenda as presented no adopt the whole agenda oh adoption that's wrong consent i'm way off i apologize we're on 2.6 i just saw the black line that's threw me off 2.6 adoption of the agenda as submitted i move that we adopt the agenda aspen as second all in favor aye corey burgess aye junie borland aye charlene diaz so moved superintendent reports dr stewart you have my written reports for miscellaneous updates we did receive a check yesterday from the company that's handling our online yard sale so it's our first check 635 dollars so it's a start and then i would like to just update you that two weeks ago i met with nine stakeholder groups and three general meetings regarding

091needs and wish lists for our strategic plan including our use of sr-3 funding and then i also had a meeting with what amounts to the 13th stakeholder group which is a community group that is exploring our issues of housing for employees i did forget one thing i'm off kilter today i guess if i would like to go back to the adoption of the agenda if we could for a moment and ask the motion be revisited if we can scroll down to our executive session please uh our wording for our executive session is not done correctly um so i would like to ask the emotion be amended uh to withdraw our executive session for today so we can put that on the next one and word it correctly um i i apologize i missed that so

092we'd have to ask a withdrawal of the original motion um so then the the corrected motion would be to approve the current adoption with the exception of the executive session which is number six correct second that all in favor aye corey burgess what's not worded correctly uh the reasons that we're going into executive session we didn't put it in there correctly there's certain policies that we can go in for we're just gonna ask to move that into our july meeting so we're still gonna do it we just didn't post it correctly i'll second that we've got a motion and a second all in favor aye corey burgess hi jeannie borland hi charlene diaz so moved and we did our report thank you i appreciate that uh donations uh this list is only a very small

096accept the consent agenda i move that we accept the consent agenda i'll second that all in favor aye corey burgess i have some things i want to talk about so there's items you'd like to pull 3.4 3.7 and 3.8 let's go down the list of the consent agenda then so can you scroll back up um so okay i i couldn't yeah and 3.9 was approval of consent agenda so i was super confused oh i didn't i thought i'm way off because that's what you ordinarily do is you just do the approval usually i know but it was listed at the end sorry i'm out of order again i apologize um so 3.2 administrative reports did we have any questions on that 3.3 personnel 3.4 ratification of vouchers yes i didn't see them so i don't

097want to prove them without seeing them kim i couldn't open any high focus on anything one of the things mr president one of the things that happened when we did not have the meeting on thursday and essentially moved the same agenda to tonight when when kim did that the all of the attachments did not move so other than the change in the one item for the workshop and the one item for the meeting in new business all of those other documents remain they just didn't move with the agenda i haven't seen the voucher for 537 thousand dollars and i'm not comfortable proving it without seeing it so you want to pull 3.4 that's okay absolutely yes sure we can do that going back um well and i couldn't see 3.7 or 3.8 either this is

098the other part of the vouchers right i like the breakdown okay yes so you want those cold also uh i want to see a breakdown of them um so that still leaves us three five student activity we good yep um are you i'm sorry mr president are you tabling uh i was gonna withdrawal our motion make sure we're good i don't miss any i've missed enough just so just so we're sure that we follow up how you want us to um tax credit clubs were good yep three seven and three eight okay so we will need a there's three seven did you want to see it or do you want to well we're going to pull them okay yeah okay so three seven and three eight so we need to withdraw the previous emotion yeah

099i would draw the previous motion and my new motion is to approve the consent agenda with the exception of three point four three point seven and 3.8 which we'll withdraw then i will second that all in favor aye corey burgess hi jeannie borland hi charlene diaz thank you thank you no problem uh item 4.1 uh old business policy gbe communication feedback this is our second reading so we do need to take action i'm sorry mr president i rather have a question usually when you pull the items you discuss them separately are you talking about not even tabling them okay but you so then you do need to table them individually you need to table those three individually all right so i'm going to make a motion to modify your preview no it's a new image

100it's a new motion you just you just move to table those until the next meeting that we table items 3.4 3.7 and 3.8 on the consent agenda to our next meeting yeah we'll get to our next meeting okay i'll second that all in favor aye corey burgess hi jeannie borland aye charlene dies all right now i hope we're good okay item 4.1 policy g b g e policy community feedback uh this is our second reading if we could pull that up please so there is action we do need to take on this we went over this in our last meeting no additional changes any questions then i move we approve item four point i'm gonna say it wrong so if we can put policy bge policy community feedback we get a second i second emotion

101all in favor aye corey burgess aye jenny borland aye charlene dies okay policy b-e-d-g minutes this is also a second reading any additional problems or changes that we've seen from last meeting okay then i move we approve item b-e-d-g uh policy b-e-d-g can i get a second i'll second that motion all in favor aye corey burgess aye jeanne borland aye charlene diaz so i moved uh policy bedf voting method this once again is a second reading and we will need to take action any changes problems then i move we approve item policy b e d f voting method i'm sick of the motion all in favor aye corey burgess aye genie borland aye charlene diaz so moved new business uh classroom site fun plan for the school year 2021 22. dr stewart mr burgess mr

102president and board members each year the board is to consider the plan that is proposed by the teacher committee for use of the classroom site fund this fund has been in place since about 2002 or something like that in the past the law required that these funds be split 20 percent into one fund 40 percent into another and 40 percent into a third the legislature has removed the requirement for those percentages and so the committee this year is proposing some changes to accommodate that change in the law however they felt like we should keep the way we've been using it pretty much the way we have just not necessarily be as restricted by those percentages but still continue a to put funding approximately 20 on base pay approximately 40 percent to pay for some specials

103teachers uh for music art library those kinds of things to reduce class sizes in regular classrooms roughly 40 and roughly 40 for uh performance uh compensation for a number of things that they do the changes that the committee uh is recommending are in red in this document that's presented to you and the document was presented to teachers for their vote and passed by more than the 70 that was required so it's now submitted to you for your approval for the way that we use this funding in uh fiscal year 22. can you scroll up just a little bit please so right there component three the rate of 1500 to be paid the mno that is the portion of those three funding sources they wanted yes uh most recently it was fourteen hundred fifty dollars uh

104and uh that made it a little tricky for some of the calculations for salaries uh and so i proposed to them that we add that other fifty dollars that come out of classroom site fund um to make all of the calculation things a little easier plus it gives a little a little more of this money to every every teacher which is what they deserve and so what happens is that this is the part of their of their salary that is paid from this fund okay any other questions on the classroom site fund i will add for you that this 1500 on base pay is for teachers who are paid out of the regular m o budget maintenance and operation budget it does not apply to any of the teachers who are paid out of grants

105or other sources however the 40 percent of classroom site funds that teachers can earn for performance is applicable to every teacher no other questions then i move we approve the class classroom site fund plan for school year 2021-22 second that all in favor aye corey burgess hi genie borland aye charlene diaz so i moved item 5.2 discussion of possible action to accept bullhead city school districts fiscal year 2021 c2e rate funding dr stewart mr president and board members uh you know that i'm skating on thin ice when i get to this little piece of of news but you did a week ago get this information every uh five years or so we can apply for e-rate funding uh james mcnutt handles that for us and has done the applications and those things so we're asking

106for approval of in this case the use of the funding any questions e-rate's a great program i mean the offset is is incredible savings to our district and i think and i think we probably should mention that so e-rate uh anything that we purchase using our e-rate funding uh e-rate pays for 80 and we pay for the so it's a it's a really good deal for us to keep our technology up to date no questions okay then i move we approve the e-rate for the 2021 school year sorry 20 21 22 school year i have a question yeah is this contingent on we need to approve 5.3 in order for what we're purchasing in 5.2 to work no the the 5.3 is the next step good question sorry i second the motion all in favor

107aye corey burgess aye jamie borland i'm charlotte so moved 5.3 discussion to purchase the vane and x grid extra grid backup solution and the optional and to optionally seek proposals for cloud backup storage dr stewart as we've discussed in the past we're one of the few districts in the state that now has an actual backup system for our servers our main servers and our networking and all of that we contract for services for those backups not just to our equipment but for backups and those tend to come in multi-year contracts so you can see the comparisons mr mcnutt did here he actually had been asked by the trust the arizona trust arizona retention trust um to uh to try out uh scroll down kim because i don't remember the name yeah to try out druva

108and so uh he did it ran a test on it it had some good things about it but you'll notice that he has a complaint there about the fact that or not a complaint necessarily but a comment that that relies 100 on cloud backup and that creates an issue if we end up not having internet working so he went back to look at we currently are using barracuda which is the vendor that's listed at the top their price their prices and their rates have gone up significantly so he went searching for another source so that's the basis of his recommendation for uh v veeam and uh ex sagrid uh to do this backup for us uh what it ends up being is a contract and we pay the pieces as we go along and it

109also doesn't tie us to us it does not tie that one does not the last one ties us to the well we might not lose our data but we couldn't get to it uh you know we we've got the backup system at sunrise uh now because we've got that set up but we wouldn't be able to get to it because everything because of the cloud connection so we need to make sure that we also have a non-cloud connection any other questions okay it says if we exceed the storage capacity do we foresee exceeding the storage capacity we don't but let's let james answer that good evening mr president members of the board and dr stewart we we currently do not anticipate exceeding the storage requirements but uh every time i seem to make a a

110proclamation that we have an adequate we have enough bandwidth and adequate storage uh something changes within two years to tell me that you know we do not have adequate bandwidth and storage so at our current with our current server capacity in that we are confident that the the storage will be adequate for five years however if we do exceed that capacity unfortunately it's it's not something we can just add like a hard disk to an appliance or whatever it would have to be a completely uh a new appliance added to the system uh the one that we're buying is the the bare minimum it's the the smallest storage capacity that the company offers but it does have all the features that we need and i i think we're going to be okay um we currently

111are using one-third the storage that the new system provides but we're only backing up our most critical servers to that storage so this new system will give us the opportunity to not only back up our financial server and our active directory servers but also back up our library servers and data servers and that sort of thing every day instead of every month like we've been doing the the only comment that i that i would make is that this is a five-year deal when we buy this we will own the equipment the physical hardware and we'll have support on that hardware for five years and we'll be buying a five-year license for the software so we do get some physical components along with this that we will own no matter what happens in the future additionally

112i would like to seek proposals for cloud storage just because it's a good idea to have things that are disconnected from our network when we're doing backups if we back up locally and something were to get into our network and discover those backups and lock us out of them our only option would be a cloud backup and with the new software we have the the methods to make those cloud backups unchangeable so once the data has been copied to the cloud which could be amazon web services microsoft there's a company out there called wasabi that gets great reviews and once it's copied there it's locked and nothing can change it so if we did have a cyber security incident that data could easily be restored without fear of it being deleted or encrypted if there

113were any changes we would bring those to the board before we initiated them thanks for researching all that for us thanks thank you any other questions all right then i move we approve item 5.3 to purchase the vm and extra grid backup solution all in favor aye corey burgess hi jeannie borland hi charlotte so i moved okay item 5.4 district stance on critical race theory uh the reason i asked this to be put on the agenda also after our workshop is so we could make a statement and i believe we need to i would like to instruct dr stewart to draft a letter reflecting our stance on where we stand with critical race theory um as we spoke in the workshop uh all the board members here have voiced their opinion um so i would

114like to move that we instruct doctors or actually we can just direct dr stewart to write a letter explaining that our board does not support critical race theory that we are in favor of legislation that will prevent such thing and any additional things you guys may see or want in that would be there and then send that draft to us before it's sent out absolutely right it's direction but everyone is okay with that direction yeah all right and i did make write a statement i contemplated if i wanted to read not read i mean i come from a little bit of a different background i'm i'm caucasian but my children are not so i just i wrote my words down so i would be able to say i'm little easier as seen on social media

115over the past few days critical race theory forces everyone to take sides and demand reorganization if you are for critical race theory you're considered to be someone who will look for racism in everything until you find it if you're against you're going to look be looked at as a white supremacist in schools it will mean teaching our children to think this way and always be looking for racism in every situation and interaction i was brought up to treat everyone equally with respect due to a fellow human being as we were all the same on the inside when i said that a few years ago in one of my master class discussion boards i was told that i was unconsciously racist because i was apparently disregarding the stories of people of other races i've taught my

116children to love all humans and pray they never look at someone based on their skin color sexual preference or political beliefs i responded with that on my discussion board and was told that i must be white because i do not understand by supporting critical race theory it shows any individual is inherently racist sexist or oppressive based on that person's race sex or ethnicity in my opinion that theory is 100 percent anti-american saying it is designed to look at everything from a race first lens which is the very definition of racism while race may be a prism to see reality it can never be the prism critical race theory makes the race critical race theory makes race the basis of clash struggle dividing the country into oppressors and oppressed based on skin color this theory creates

117and encourages the conditions for conflict unrest and bitterness and allows for no peaceful racial coexistence we have an obligation to educate ourselves about the problems and weaknesses in the critical race theory we have an obligation to listen to the words of martin luther king hate cannot drive hate only love can do that and while we all may have come in on different ships we're all in the same boat now the words written on our district letterhead do not dictate the thoughts or feelings of myself nor the district as a whole but rather the sole opinion of a writer an opinion that she has every right to have as a as a citizen and human being however i was disappointed to see it on district letterhead on a social media platform any other comments okay i

118do want to reaffirm to the entire community my stance on this that i don't believe that that has any place in our classroom and our top priority of this board is education that that is what we are striving for this is something that once that letter is written i hope that it it does reaffirm where we stand that that has no place in our curriculum and it is not something we are looking to adopt we did ask for that yes mr burgess i would also like to reiterate that i am not a proponent of critical race theory nor would i ever recommend it to this board for education of our students thank you all right okay moving on to 5.5 bullet city school district return to school for the school year 2021-22 mr president a

119new bill that was passed by the legislature that requires that districts submit let me give you a little background the um now that we're talking about oh it's a return to school plan i'm sorry i'm on the wrong item that's both of us right okay um okay return to school plan one of the requirements for sr3 application uh is that we have a written return to school plan this was fairly easy to do because i felt like we could just update the one that we had which seemed to work pretty well this past year they're just wanting to know the requirement is that we are taking into account uh and it was and the way it was written was primarily for school districts that had not had students in person so it made it a

120little you know a little strange for us to have to do this but it's required so we planned we've already planned to open uh in a regular way in on august 4th but there there is a statement in there about us making sure that we are continuing to pay attention to recommendations from the cdc so it made it fairly easy to just use some of the wording that we had used before take out a whole lot of the wording and and then also help our families whose students have been in virtual school for this past year to know that we are not abandoning any of the the things that will help keep kids stay safe yes no masks yes those things but we want them to know that the physical facilities will be we will

121continue to pay attention to those things and and to good hygiene habits um but so then also building in in case there is some kind of strange thing going on next year that we're not caught off guard again for a plan if we have to close a school close the schools down we hope all of us hope that that does not happen but i think all of us learned a long time ago that hope is not a plan and so uh so i'm proposing to you this plan uh uh so that whatever contingency comes up this year we're ready all right so according to our return to school plan we are going back to normal yes and normal means those of you that may have asked about going in and visiting the schools yes you

122can go to our schools and visit sites we actually encourage it it is it is a we have incredible people in this community that bring their own insight into the classroom please volunteer please volunteer we don't have enough we would love to have more um if we could get this type of outreach that move into our classrooms oh my gosh it would be incredible at every level please come to our schools you have insight that i don't have you have insight our teachers don't have our administrators don't have and it is welcome it is appreciated um please please do so you weren't uh we had one mother say she couldn't go to the school when we were under covert restrictions that wasn't allowed i apologize for that but it was because of the situation we

123were in that's the only time it has been that way we have always opened our campuses to our parents we want our parents at our campuses we want our community members because these children are not just our children they're yours even if you're not the mother or father of one you are still helping us raise those kids and like i said i can tell you i've had several community members come into my classroom before their insight is incredible incredible um probably the most talked about thing i ever had i used to have a holocaust survivor that would come and speak to my students at the high school uh unfortunately he passed away but that was a life-changing moment to my kids they still talk about that it was incredible um those things are are greatly

124appreciated and yes ma'am our schools are open please come to them mr president and could i add something to that um visiting anytime please do not be put off by some of the restrictions relative to if you want to volunteer i think you all can understand that we want to for somebody who's going to be working directly with our students you all as parents or grandparents or aunts or uncles want to make sure that your children or nieces and nephews are safe if volunteers come in and work in our classrooms so we do have a rather brief and easy procedure for that so don't be put off by having to go through a couple of steps to actually be a volunteer as opposed to just a visitor okay it's pretty easy and depending if there's

125a higher level of volunteering so if you were going to go on a field trip we do ask for your fingerprints and that kind of thing because you and i know that we don't want some dangerous person on a bus with our kids going on a field trip uh and it's and you know it's it's to protect all of our kids that's our first concern thank you for letting me say that and mr president i wanted to add on to your statement every school site has a psych council and the site council are required to meet at least at the minimum quarterly a lot of them meet on a monthly basis you are welcome to attend those site council meetings they do talk about curriculum they do talk about um everything every yeah everything that

126goes on on the campus so if you are interested you've got a child at a certain school or you don't you are welcome to attend those site council meetings you know pick a school and and find out when their meetings are held and by all means please attend and now that we're getting back to normal we'll see more of those site council meetings president i was just going to add what dr stewart was saying that the applications are at the district office they're also i believe um they're also supposed to be in each campus lobby as well the volunteer process for the elementary district is slightly different than it is for the high school district just because of different peer structure but the applications and the steps are here and available during like we were

127saying with gus going back to normal this idea of site council amazing site council actually makes recommendations to the board for curriculum so if you want to know what's being taught in our classrooms and how it's being done site council is a great way to do it yes i have a few questions [Music] i would have to say we've already passed that but i would be happy to answer anything after the meeting and you can also talk to to dr stewart we we did that in a in a workshop beforehand and now we've we've already already gone through that um if your if your question was how we're handling that we did cover that and we are not in a favor of crt and we were actually drafting a letter stating so my question if

128you will is the teachers not to voice their opinions regarding crt or any other societal we'll actually be discussing that in our employee handbook which is coming up so so you'll get the answer to your question shortly any other questions concerns with the back to school plan all right then i move that we approve item 5.5 blood city school district return to school for the school year 2021-22 second all in favor aye corey burgess hi jeanne berlin i'm charlene so moved item 5.6 instructional model statement now the instructional model statement okay um this year because of circumstances of this past year of course there were legislative concerns and questions and discussions about schools continuing to offer distance learning and so a bill was passed to allow school districts to uh have a variety of instructional

129models that's what they're calling these and in that process authorized schools to have some have a hybrid or whatever for the next two years that doesn't particularly affect us because we had determined we were not going to continue distance learning however in passing that bill the bill the law that was in place that authorized four day school weeks was rescinded and so the 50 or so districts in the state who operate on four day school weeks were concerned about how that affected them so the ade um handled it by saying we all we needed to do was to submit a statement the board submitted a statement that says um that uh there were when when we instituted the four day school weeks there had been community forums and there had been at least discussions at

130at least two board meetings and so we went back to the minutes of meetings you can see the dates there on november 21st of 2014 and december 18th of 2014 and those minutes reflect discussions about the school calendar for the following year and that school calendar had four day school weeks so it meets the requirement and we just need the statement and i will say that it's it's written this way with brandy's name as a signature because we knew last thursday you were not going to be here and that she probably would be so we can we can change it to to reflect who's actually here tonight but this is all we have to submit to the state to comply with that new law all right any questions okay then i'm move that we approve

131the instructional model statement as submitted with the exchange of the signature thank you i'll second that motion all in favor aye corey burgess hi j.d borland hi charlene adidas so moved item 5.7 employee handbook for the school year 2021-22 dr stewart uh if you recall in november i submitted to you and you approved an employee handbook the first time our district has had one for all of our employees and as time has gone by we have noticed some things and folks particularly administrators have noticed some things that we probably needed to include that we didn't so i'm proposing this one for the new school year and the proposed changes or additions are highlighted in gray i'll answer any questions that you might have about any of the items and i also have the document in

132front of me so that if you have changes i can make the changes as we go any could we go to the top yeah i have lots of questions i don't know is this something that we can table till our next meeting maybe put it on our workshop and discuss it as a full board not just three of us absolutely okay sure absolutely we're not in a hurry to pass this so okay any okay then would you like to make that motion to table i make a motion we table 5.7 employee handbook until our next meeting okay before i ask for a second i just want to address something on there can we scroll down to the curriculum and this also goes right to site council that in our handbook it is stated that nothing

133will be taught that is not approved they will follow curriculum they will bring any any changes anything new anything they may want has to go to a site council has to be approved has to be done that that is all in this document i hope that answers your question but more about personal opinions teachers are supposed to be teaching uh teaching children to think not to think like they do and so my question is will the board make sure to instruct teachers not to share any kind of personal views regarding crt racism etc and if you do plan on doing so will that be in the handbook and will there be actual consequences in writing for those teachers to violate those rules because we are going to table it what we're going to do there

134until that point um but it does outline that they will follow our direction so um but since we're not moving on it that'll be we're going to workshop it so if you'd like to come to that we please we welcome your input and there are policy and there are policies in place to discipline employees who do not follow board policy okay all right so we have a motion i will second that motion all in favor aye corey burgess aye jamie barland aye charlene diaz it has been tabled um 5.8 extension of the contract with heinfield mech and the vision rollover and business office training dr stewart this will be the last request i make of you the payroll audit has been completed and corrections have been made in uh in all of our visions software

135module that had to do with payroll we are ready to do rollover of this current budget and all of that to the new one so i can actually finish the budget to present to you next month and we are actually starting that process tomorrow and then we are uh would like to do some training with uh with the um accountant to make sure we don't uh inadvertently or intent certainly not intentionally but so that we know not to go down some of the same paths the part that is training if you recall in our sr2 funding we built in training for everybody all of our staff in the district for various things the training portion of this we would then pay with s or 2 money so it's just the wrapping up of the rollover

136and that part so i would please ask you to approve that we can that we wrap up this project and this is the as far as we can see this is the final stage it should be the final stage of this yes any questions all right then i move we approve item 5.8 the extension of the contract second all in favor aye corey burgess aye jennie berlin aye charlene diaz it's unmoved item 5.9 reconsider withdrawal from the insurance trust dr stewart mr president and board members in may we had a special meeting and with the information that i had at the time recommended that the board consider withdrawal from the colorado river uh health trust uh since and i told you at the time we had information from three of our four insurance companies carriers

137following that meeting we heard from the the carrier for life insurance and disability insurance that company is unum and the news has not been good from them so i will try to explain to you why i am now asking that you reconsider that withdrawal because it is not in the best interest of our employees so while the other companies uh provision and dental care were both willing to honor the contracts for the coming year uh even if the uh if we withdrew from the trust uh unum was not and unum said that they would immediately create two new policies and uh so here's the damage that would be done currently under the policy that we've had for several years our two districts pay a premium to unum for life insurance equal to double the employee's

138annual salary so i'll use an example it doesn't directly apply but it makes it easier to follow so if we're paying a hundred dollars a year for an employee to get insurance for double their current salary unum says that if they change those split the policy they would only fund the annual salary equal to the annual salary for 200 so double the premium and half the benefits that's one of the dangers the second one is that we have a number of employees in the current policy who have opted to buy up so the district pays for that first piece of double the current salary the employee can buy up to as much as five times their current salary so they're paying that additional premium that opportunity would go away for our current people and the

139third issue is that any of our employees who have been diagnosed with chronic or serious illnesses that might not make them eligible for life insurance if they've been diagnosed during the time that they've been on this policy they would no longer be insurable as long as we maintain the current policy they continue to be insurable so it seems to me that virtually every one of our employees who has benefit of our insurance our life insurance policy would be harmed if this were to split so my recommendation is and this may be one of the reasons that the requirement gives everybody 60 days to think about it is you get the rest of the information so i'm recommending that you withdraw your withdrawal and and then we proceed with the next item on the agenda but

140that we at least protect our employees at this time how many people does it affect that cannot get alternate coverage uh you mean all the the folks who've been diagnosed i'm not privy to that information because of hipaa i just know that it's a number of employees in both districts but even considering that the one to five those that opt into that can't and half the coverage for double the cost were there any other policies that we've looked into that could go with that that aren't with that company we would have to we would have to research all of that and um and and our folks would i mean we can always do that um and that you know but the thing is we know that it's that the rates are going to be different

141and and more expensive uh we've been with this company for several years and i suspect i don't know this for a fact but i suspect that we're kind of being grandfathered along with this policy and that they're you know they're in business so they're looking for any reason to to have more income and less expense i suspect so i i know when michelle bemelman talked with them and then she checked with some other insurance companies that the rates elsewhere are much higher than what we are paying for unum there is a possibility that there are others out there um it's just not just not would be good for right now i mean our 60-day window is closing that is something we can always rescind and back out of the trust later so i do understand

142when we didn't have that one and we knew we didn't but we still acted by my recommendation um however now having the new information we are still in that window so it gives us a chance to and it does affect retirees as well oh thank you for reminding me that i had forgotten it yes it does affect our retirees yes but the retirees pay their own now right so they would they be able to continue that's something we can look into well they could they they would be able to continue but once again they would only get half the coverage for twice the payment okay well those things that we have to weigh yeah so we we do have to look into that um i agree i think at this time we we do need

143to uh rescind our withdrawal from the insurance trust it is something we can look into later so i would like to move that we rescind our withdrawal from the insurance trust all in favor aye corey burgess i i would like more information i guess i mean we we held a special meeting it was imperative we did this right then and there you gave all these propellant factors as to why we needed to go and do this so quickly we acted on it do those benefits outweigh the fourth factor or i don't know i'd like that information too but like i said this is something we can still rescind again if we choose not to and moving in looking ahead 5.10 a meeting with the high school to discuss even maybe we'll get more information at

144that point too hi genie portland hi charlene diaz so moved item 5.10 the crh evt board requests a joint meeting with the high school district and our elementary boards um do we have any ideas at this time when no i think it would be a matter of the three presidents of the boards of deciding on a common date um to to have a meeting and i know that's you know it's a lot of people lots of people yeah it is a lot to put together is there any dates that don't work for someone in here next week and we do have our july two meetings but we're we've already set two meetings in july which is what dates the the 8th and i think it's the 13th 8th and 13th we've already sent those out

145for those dates because we have to split our july meeting because we have so much um so july 8th and july 13th unless they wanted to meet before i'm okay with that as an option i would just like to give them the dates we can't do i'm fine after july 5th after july 5th me too and before august 5th so after july 5th you're good and without the other two we don't really know so if we could send out the dates that we can't do okay um and then reach out to the other board members and maybe we can condense that calendar a little better and see if we do have enough to get it sure get the board there um with your permission i would try to coordinate that with mr silk who is

146the new superintendent at the high school so he can coordinate with his board president and then with greg eidsness who is the chair of the um the trust board genie how would you feel if the dates were before july 5th and we could still form a quorum would you be okay yeah okay so that's a possibility also okay thank you we'll work on that looks like uh miss diaz and i are wide open [Laughter] all right so let's get with mr silk and see what we can do on okay to me the sooner the better all right um so it's just direction that's all we needed on that that's fine we removed the executive session item 7.1 we won't have um 7.2 we've actually already covered so did we want to table 7-2 until after

147because i think we're going to go over more goals so yeah because we're going over more goals now that we've been through that whole fiasco um with covid we can table that thank you let's see where our goals are for that to table 7.2 yes please so i moved 7.2 superintendent's performance goals and contract for school year 21-22 i second that all in favor aye corey burgess aye jeannie borland aye charlene diaz all right 7.3 future topics um we've got several um we do we have we have um this the meeting on the 13th is probably mostly going to be workshop i mean at my recommendation you know you can add items to an agenda if you want but we need i need to go over share with you uh the many ideas that we've

148gotten from our stakeholder groups the strategic plan um and get some direction from from you on priorities i will send you the entire list so you can see all of it but i will also indicate some priorities in there that those various groups have suggested or recommended and that we actually administratively are recommending as well um and so i i think it's it's an opportunity for a real really good discussion about a long-term plan um you know we're we're not going to drop 10.3 million dollars in a short period of time uh and and on the other hand it's it's equal to two-thirds of our annual budget so we have to think about planning it out over the time that we have legally which is through september 30th of 2024 but we have to think

149beyond that too so we need to think about how all of our various budgets can can be kind of woven together to make the best use of all of our funding so i think that it's going to be it's going to be a lot of discussion i think but that's for workshop that's for yeah and and that would be for the meeting on the 13th and and whether there need to be other business items that night is up to you we also want to do the employee handbook right so i think that's going to take up a ton of time with those two items do you want do you want the handbook on on the on the 8th on the meeting for the 8th which is the budget meeting well there are a number of

150other things we have to do every july but that's the big thing is budget yeah so we could do a workshop about the handbook on the 8th are we ok with that and then we can discuss those items that you wanted to have in there in that workshop but that would be stuff that we put on the 13th because we're really focusing on that and and um i know jeannie had questions on the compacts those things that go with oh absolutely and and they are worth you reading because they're uh they are they are kind of legal documents i mean they are and they're not but they're required for us to to do so it's important that you know what they say and that you know and that you back them because it's pretty important

151okay so you want those on that one too um let's see i don't see anything else in my notes any anyone else any of the other future topics all right we have those sets um and then um if you're okay we'll just withhold any any more uh covering of new of the of the uh policies until august if you're okay with that we've got plenty on workshop between now and august although i do have a couple of uh things that i've found for instance when we changed the wording relative to masks from shall to may we missed one and so i would just it's a regulation so i'll just put it on the next agenda you know and that's all it's just the changing the word from shall to me and i found a couple

152of others that are like that are that are just one word changes or two word changes and uh so we wouldn't even have to discuss them in a workshop great no other future topics all right upcoming board events uh we have the aspa journey 20 21 22 lunch and learn webinar uh july 26 2021 september 27 2021 members choice uh and september 29th 2021 ask the experts asba law conference september 8th through 10th and the county meeting september 29th now we are open to go to any of these you feel you want to or would like to um if you haven't attended the law conference i would recommend it it's actually really good um and we really do need to be represented this year at the county asba conference we i don't think we had

153anyone there last year and uh that's a worthwhile just a meeting in the evening but it's worthwhile where they're holding it they have not but if we can you know okay i will probably go to that so thank you and i and i second what you say laura laurie cory about the law conference uh i'm planning to sign up it's it's always worthwhile and um uh you know and it'll be nice to have an in-person one again yes um so just like kim know if you want to attend any of those events they're open to all board members um 7.5 date time location of future meetings we have set july 8th 2021 at 5 30 p.m um do we want to make that since we're adding a workshop a six o'clock meeting with a five

154o'clock workshop change it to that are we good with that change i'll try my best all right yes okay so we'll have the workshop at five and the meeting at six on july 8th okay and the 13th do you do you want to decide on a time for the 13th at this point no let's just wait until then okay yeah thank you things might change by then uh 8.1 our favorite motion to adjourn a move that we had during this meeting second all in favor aye corey burgess hi jeannie borland hi charlene diaz we are adjourned [Music] you
