[Music] so [Music] i called to order this special meeting of the bullhead city elementary school board on sunday november 1st 2 20 20 at 5 30 p.m uh roll call corey burgess here randy dubois douglas here charlene diaz here jeanne borland here sorry i was on mute all right we have no citizens if you'll join me for a pledge of allegiance agenda doug douglas i i move that we adopt the agenda as presented i'll second that cory burgess all in favor aye corey burgess i jeannie borland i item 2.1 virtual school for one or more classrooms in the district dr stewart mr president members of the board i sent to you this afternoon as updated information relative to the situation that we have junior high have two students who tested eighth grade cohort and as
of today one of the teachers in that same cohort tested positive so we have three unrelated positive test results in one cohort and that's approximately 100 students for teachers in the regular classrooms and any teachers that they might have come in contact with but it's probably just those four teachers several conversations with the health department county health department and their recommendation is based on trying to be consistent with their recommendations through all this would recommend that we quarantine that cohort through november 12th originally i had told you in an early email through the 11th but because the teacher was in contact with the cohort as late as thursday the latest contact is what starts the 14 day period so we would be talking about students missing in school class for seven days seven class days
four days this week and three days the following week because veterans day holiday is in there so my recommendation is that we quarantine fox creek 8th grade cohort b through the 12th okay members do you have any george do any of these have uh virtual learning then yes doug they would because they would be they would be quarantined as well so nothing would change in their schedule it's just their location so nothing would change except that they're not do we have any other questions no well if no other questions at this time i would like to make a motion uh based on the recommendation of the county health department that we quarantined co 8th grade cohort b until november 12th douglas i i brandi dubois i'm charlene diaz hi genie borland so moved mr president
yes um i would also like the board to recognize that and that i've given to you we haven't in that cohort is one positive student case at this time your apartment recommends it and that's where you're putting your on basis i i'm fine with that mr president i would also make it clear that in some cases in the elementary school it might just be one classroom you know it might not be a group of students or a group of classrooms do we have any other questions for dr stewart i could see us possibly having a problem this monday um but i would also like to to be able to to get with the board and talk if we do have to take anything more than say one school at a site or one classroom at
a site uh that's kind of how i feel i would hate to just say okay if we get a situation let's just make that decision without the board being involved any other thoughts feelings i agree with you corey on that one okay um well i would go ahead and make a motion that uh at this time that we would authorize dr stewart to close up to one classroom per site without board meeting uh to make that decision during the covid situation if makes that recommendation motion okay all in favor aye corey burgess thank you and and just so we're clear that's moving forward so if we do have that situation with the seven is the board okay with that being the one not counting eight because we made that decision i'm okay with that there's
no misunderstanding do we have any other business for 2.1 well okay if none at this time then i will make a motion that we adjourn a second brandy rory burgess all right douglas aye brandy dubois i'm charlie portland we are adjourned thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
