Yesterday I went to bed and we could have been inside but we didn't have gym space either. >> We need some kind of indoor holiday. Pain and misery is the hallmark of a channel. >> Yeah, I saw that. [laughter] >> This weather's heating up for you just nicely, isn't it? >> All right, good morning. We're going to go ahead and call this to order. Thanks for being here on November 11th. Happy Veterans Day. Thank you to all veterans. We're here to take care of one schoolboard business and there will be public comments available. So with that we [clears throat] will have the pledge. >> I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation [clears throat] under God indivisible with liberty and justice

for all. [snorts] >> Our agenda item is your contract and at this point open it up to public comments. Thanks for your contract. [laughter] >> Any other public comments, Mr. Funston? >> Yeah. So, um are we on 2.2 now? I guess. >> Yeah. Um yeah, just a couple um highlights. It is a two-year agreement, so um we're pleased for that. There's a reopener for health insurance if um something wacky happens with that, but otherwise we have a a two-year agreement. um you know our go one of the goals of I think of CTA and us was um the compression issue in the middle. So we have um not I think the second highest right Julie um starting salary in the county. I think we're second highest starting salary in the county. Um and we're highest

I believe we're the highest salary in the county for um folks at the top experience then but for some reason um we've got this issue in the middle where those folks um uh you know are not really competitive with their peers. And so that was >> one example that I know of Joe Warden at the high school said that he could go to Northridge and make an extra 10 grand. >> Yeah. Um so just how many years has he been roughly? >> He's somewhere between 15 and 18. >> Yeah. >> So it is very much right there at that number that we've been >> Yeah. And um honestly that's because the state eliminated salary schedules 10 or 15 years ago. And when they when they did that created this wonky system that um just kind

of has led to to where we're at. But but now we're allowed to you know uh Herb allows us to kind of move back towards salary schedules and so um we've set uh basically a proposed salary schedule and then we've tried to move people as close to um place them as close as we can on that with the goal of you know hopefully over the next uh coming years we can get everybody there and kind of fix the issue um long term. I will say if you've been paying attention to cash balance um year-over-year, we're we're running looks like we're running about a $6 or $700,000 deficit right now from um a year ago to to today at least in September. From September to September, we running about a six little over $600,000 deficit. So,

um that's fine. That's why we have cash balance. And so it's just something we'll need to pay attention to and um adjust expenses uh along the way. Um really I think that's um you know we added two bereavement days. Our certified staff um does not abuse that at all. They do a good job um with uh uh their use of those. That's really it really the the cost. I have the total cost um in board docs there but um two-year uh totals about 1.5 um you know that'll that'll depend on who we bring in after retirement this year and all that sort of stuff but um total cost uh with health insurance and everything else is about 1.7 um over the next two years. Yeah. We ask for your cons. Any questions about Thank you.

>> on the contract. >> Entertain a motion. >> A motion to approve. >> Second. Have a >> motion by Mrs. Towner. Second by coach Mr. Kun. >> Any other questions, comments? >> I just like to say thanks for everyone working on it. Thank you for for you and all you guys do. I've been on that side of it. So, uh, we appreciate you guys. Yeah, >> it took you, you know, getting out to for us to finally fix it. I guess [clears throat and laughter] >> I will say we used um well, Susan was only there once, but we used Joe um Lewis and Caps helped the district uh Joe Lmer um on our side um CTA had the uniserve rep and last two years I feel like uh it's been a pretty good process

with those folks kind of helping us along. So, we're busy. He's they're busy teaching, you know. Um it's nice to have folks kind of just helping us um get to the details of it. So, >> any other questions? All those in favor of the motion say I. >> Opposed. >> We go. >> Done. >> That's it. >> We need Did you get >> We are 36. So >> get this done cuz we need tea odors.
