We're going to call to order the meeting of the Leaport Community School Corporation. Today is Monday, November 10th, 2025. If you would please silence your cell phone devices and if you would join me in the pledge of allegiance, please stand. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Uh, roll call. Secretaryquist. >> Mr. Arnold, >> present. >> Mr. King, >> here. >> Miss Batty, >> present. >> Mrs. Farley, >> absent. I am present. Uh, Vice President Jackson >> here. >> President Sber >> here. >> 61. >> Okay. Uh, since we didn't have school today because of the weather, uh, we are, uh, going to skip the school highlight or school
spotlight that's on the schedule and the slicer se health careers because we were expecting students. We're skipping those. Um, there is no public comment. So, we will move to the consent agenda. Uh there are five items on the consent agenda. So the approval of minutes of the October 13, 2025 schoolboard meeting, financials for ratification and approval, treasurer's report, technical corrections to change name of compliance officer in the OLA section 504 ADA policies, personnel recommendations and travel requests. Does somebody want to make a motion to approve the consent agenda? >> So moved. >> Thank you, Monica. Is there a second? >> Second. Thank you, Justin. All those in favor say I. >> I opposed. It passes. Next is special personnel recommendations. You've all seen the special personnel recommendation that we're required to vote separately on. Is
there a motion to approve the special personnel recommendation number one? >> So move. >> Thank you, Amy. A second. >> Second. >> Thank you, Tucker. All those in favor say I. I. Opposed. And that passes. Okay. So, next we're going to have a public hearing. So, uh, at this point, we'll start or open the public hearing. This is the second, uh, joint public hearing on additional appropriations, project, and preliminary determinations. This is around our geo [clears throat] bond. We talked about this at the last meeting, which was the first hearing. So, we're going to start second hearing. So, does anyone from the public want to step forward and comment? Okay, seeing none, then we will close the hearing. So, the hearing is here closed. Uh we're going to move on to the financial dashboard. We
have Dr. Penrod who's on our Zoom. >> Hey, good evening. >> Good evening. >> There we go. Uh you see the dashboard there, Greg. >> Okay. Good evening. Uh thanks [clears throat] for having me. We've got the uh dashboard today or uh looking at insights for October of 2025. Uh total cash position of 8.05 05 million decreased by 1.64 million in October. Uh represents 13.3% of the annual budget. Um some of that is uh cash flow related in the operations fund. Uh just again because of the way um the way the [clears throat] uh state funds the way we fund operations fund here in Indiana, we won't see any of that money until or the majority of that money until December. Uh October expenses exceeded revenue by that same 1.64 million. Uh both the education
and operations fund experienced negative cash flow this month and the fund allocation uh education fund now holds 87.7% of the total cash with operations of 4 and a half and the rainy day fund at 7.7%. Uh the total cash balance at just under 8.05 05 million like we said revenue for those three funds in October at 5,20,908 expenditures at 6,660,538 and the percent of the budget as cash is 13.3%. Uh education fund is uh 40.05 or sorry 4050 uh million spent through October of 25 and the uh operations fund at 13.68% 13.68 68 million spent through October of 2025. On the fund balance side, the education fund had a beginning balance at 8.2 million, an ending balance of 7.06 million. Uh the operations fund at a beginning balance in October of 940,000 ending at 37
or 370,000. And then the rainy day fund states uh stays the same at 620,000. The October cash flow like we said both the education and operations fund experienced negative cash flow this month. Uh the expenditures at 5.34 million were 1.06 million more than the revenue at 4.27 million in the education fund. The operations fund at expenditures of a million32 uh 50 uh 0.58 million 580,000 more than the 75750,000 for the revenue in education and then no expenditures in the raining day. Uh the month end monthend cash balance by fund uh education fund again at 7.06 uh 7.06 million 87.7% of the total cash in these three funds. operations fund at 370,000 4.5% of these three funds and the rainy day fund at 620,000 7.7% of these three funds and so then we've got uh same
information we've seen up above but in numerical form now we have revenue or beginning uh education fund balance at 8,23,019 revenue of 4,273,794 expenses at that 5.3355665 million so an ending balance at 7 million 61,149. The operations fund uh started at 943,294. The revenue for the operations fund at 747,14 I'm sorry 1114 expenses of a million leaving 365,536 and no activity in rainy days. So 621,463. So that total again at the end for these three funds at $8,48,148. So, that's our uh wrap for the October financials, but we'd certainly be glowed to answer any questions. >> Does anyone have any questions they'd like to ask Dr. Penrod? >> Okay. Thank you, Dr. Penrod. >> Thank you. >> Um on to the superintendent report, Dr. Wood. >> All right. Um, so the first item I have
for my report this evening is the notification of the funding floor requirement. Um, so we received notification again this year from the Indiana Department of Education that we did not meet the DOE funding floor expectation. The funding floor was established in Indiana 2022 and it requires that school districts not spend less on teacher salaries and benefits than the previous fiscal year. when a district does not meet this funding floor, Indiana code mandates that the information be presented publicly to the board and posted on the district's website. Um, so in our case, we expended less on teacher salaries and benefits in fiscal year 2025 than in fiscal year 2024. Um, I would argue that this outcome aligns directly with our ongoing efforts to rightsize the district to reflect the steady decline in enrollment that has occurred
um, generally over the last two decades. Um so as you know the board and administration have been intentional in align aligning staffing and operational costs to match our student enrollment and programmatic needs. Um this includes reducing the total number of teaching positions through attrition and other measures um as we move forward with planning to rightsize our district. Um so I want to be clear that not meeting the funding floor is not a reflection of undervaluing our teachers. It is the result of prudent fiscal management and our responsibility to align expenditures with actual enrollment trends. I do want to note that I find this legislative requirement frustrating in light of the governor's repeated message that schools must do more with less. This law in many ways stands in direct contradiction to that expectation as it effectively
penalizes districts for taking necessary steps to operate efficiently and responsibly in response to declining enrollment. There is no financial pen penalty associated with not meeting the funding floor. The law simply requires public disclosure um which we have fulfilled by presenting this information to the board and it is also posted on our district website. So if you have any questions about that, I would be happy to answer it. [clears throat] >> Are we doing more with less? [laughter] >> We are doing more with less, but we're not being recognized for it. >> Right. >> I agree with your frustration. >> Yes. Me too. You took your public shaming wall. >> Thank you. [laughter] >> Well done. >> I can stand behind where we are in that regard. Um and I think that anyone who would look
at the situation that we're in would agree and so we take the steps that we have to take to meet the requirements of the law and we move forward with our goals. >> Um the second item on a on a happy note, Mr. Williamson, would you please stand? We have some recognition this evening. Um, so the second item I'm pleased to present this evening is the recognition of Mr. Bill Wilson, principal of the Kustan campus, who has been named the District 2 Indiana Association of School Principles 2025 Principal of the Year. [applause] So this distinguished award is presented annually by IASP to honor school leaders across Indiana who exemplify excellence in educational leadership, innovation, and community engagement. District honores are selected for their demonstrated impact on school improvement, student learning, and the development of a
positive school culture. Mr. Mr. Wilson's leadership at the Kesling campus, encompassing both Leaport Middle School and Kesling Intermediate School, has brought tremendous cohesion, clarity, and shared purpose to one of the district's most complex instructional settings. He has led with vision, integrity, and a deep commitment to ensuring that every student in grades 5 through 8 is known, supported, and challenged to reach their potential. His ability to unify staff around common goals and foster a culture of belonging and academic excellence has made a lasting impact on our district. Mr. Wilson will be honored along with other district winners at the IASP fall professionals conference awards banquet in Indianapolis on November 23rd. His recognition reflects not only his individual excellence but alo also the strength of leadership and collaboration that defines our look community schools. So congratulations to
Mr. Wilmson and he is representing our district very well. >> Congratulations. [applause] >> Is there anything you'd like to say or >> um I'm honored with the award and uh um I appreciate everything the whole board does and our administration. Uh the port is a great community to live in and it's an honor to serve our children. So, thank you. >> Thank you so much for all you do. >> Yeah. When When are you going to start answering your phone? >> Pardon? >> When are you going to start answering your phone? >> I can't hear you. What? >> When are you going to start answering your phone? [laughter] >> Will you call me? >> All right. Well, thank you very much. >> Thank you. >> And that concludes my superintendent report. >> Okay. Next is
Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning Report, Dr. Tonicle. >> Yeah. Good evening. I have exciting news to share tonight. Kingsford Heights Elementary School was just named a 2025 Indiana Purple Star School. So, this is that uh special designation that the DOE gives to schools who show a significant commitment to military families, veterans, uh service members. Um so, we're really excited about that. Indian Trail is also a Purple Star School. Um congratulations to both of them. It's a big week, Veterans Day tomorrow. And so, a couple different special assemblies going on in our corporation, including a special uh parade at Kingsford Heights. They do an annual Veterans Day walk. So, um, want to recognize them and just want to say one other thing. Our our schools work really hard at various designations. I believe we have six
different designations that we work um to achieve and there are things that go above and beyond that make our schools special places. You have things like STEM certified schools, Indiana familyfriendly schools, um, purple star schools, uh, AP Capstone school that means high school and then which one am I forgetting? Project lead the way distinguished schools. So these are special kind of feathers in our caps that a lot of corporations around us don't have that enrich our students education. Um our staff don't just fill out checklists and fill out these applications and do them. These are truly integrated components into the um kids education and that enriches and and helps their experience uh to be that much more richer. So congratulations to Kingsford Heights all our schools. Oh and the heart safe schools. I did that
one. So actually more of the six. Um, but they work really hard just to separate ourselves from other corporations. So, want to recognize that. >> That's awesome. >> Yeah. Thank you. Hopefully, they are considering walking the parade inside tomorrow. [laughter] >> I didn't I didn't ask that because they weren't at school today, but that's it. Good point. [snorts] >> That's awesome. Anybody have any questions or comments for Dr. Tonicle? Is there anything else? >> No. Okay, that's it. >> Okay, move on to the assistant superintendent of operations report, Dr. Oie. >> Thank you. We have a few uh comments for tonight. First, I just want to open up by uh giving some recognition to our facilities and maintenance crew for all of their hard work today in keeping uh the campus clean with snow and
ice, all the removal there from the storm. So, shout out to those guys. Um food service, we had a slight delay in receiving our payments from the state for reimbursement meal claims, but nothing that really impacted our day-to-day operations. Uh, and then I wanted to uh just offer this to the board. November 19th, they are doing a Thanksgiving meal. So, if you want to mark that on your calendars, they're looking for guest servers. You can choose which building you'd like to be a guest server in. So, if you want to reach out to me or Cindy Vandra, our director of food service, either of those, we can get you lined up. Um, from a technology standpoint, the last couple weeks we've had a few tech hiccups. Um, so not really any of our our own
uh problems, but we had some internet and Google outages earlier in the week. Uh, some server glitches. Those are all fixed now. Um, we are still seeing some ongoing issues with calling out to certain cell numbers and that seems to be a problem with the phone company's end. So, that is still being worked on. And then one last final comment uh from safety and security standpoint. I want to recognize publicly the Play for Jake Foundation. They are helping us uh keep our AEDs up to date by replacing batteries and pads for all the AEDs in the district. So, I want to recognize them. Any questions or comments for Dr. Oni? Okay. The uh next item is Neiola board policies. So, Leola is an organization that we use to keep our policies up to date. Um,
these are typically around legislation that's changed. Uh, sometimes there's some wording, verbiage, and things. Um, and so there's two rounds of these. Uh, so we'll have the first reading. We don't need approval on these. Uh, but this is just the public uh the first reading. Um, when I first got on the board, I thought we actually read these and Jim made me believe that [laughter] uh for a while, but we don't actually read those. Um, so anyhow, so there's volume 37, number two, the April 2025 uh there's a bunch there and then there's a special update dated July 2025. So the first reading is there and so next month we will have a second reading uh where we don't actually read them but we will uh talk about them if there's any questions or concerns
uh or we will approve those. So any questions or comments on that? Okay, moving on the new business. The first order of new business is a consideration for the recommendation to approve and accept acceptance of grants, donations, gifts and bequests. Dr. would. >> So, we have one donation that we are asking the uh board to approve this evening. It is a donation of $2,176 um from the Northwest Indiana Area Health Education Center um also known as AHECK. um they are making this donation to the Leaport High School HOSA and health science program um for the continued advancement of those programs um to include the cost and the expenses for course materials, attendance at the yearly conference and any other expenses that they incur. >> Anyone uh want to make a motion to uh accept this
donation? >> So moved. >> Thank you. Thank you, doctor. Anybody got any comments? All those in favor say I. >> I opposed. >> Okay, moving on. Uh, consideration for recommendation to approve updates to the 2026 2027 academic calendar. Dr. >> Okay. So, um, as the board is aware, um, since, um, coming here, I've been, um, kind of pushing our district to embrace the concept of the professional learning community, um, as a cultural, um, shift in in how we believe and how we work together as educators to to promote instruction and learning in our classrooms. Um and so over this past summer we had the opportunity to send our leadership team to um the professional learning communities institute in Lincolnshshire, Illinois um which is kind of the birthplace of the PLC model and um our team
had an excellent experience there and really was able to come away with a lot of great plans and ideas for moving forward as we step forward with this initiative districtwide to really become a professional learning learning community. So, it's more about doing PLC's, it's really about embracing and becoming um a learning community together. Um so, as we've had discussion about next steps following um that opportunity for our leadership team, um we have been in contact with representatives from Solution Tree. Um we are very fortunate that one of the um initial um I think the CEO of of Solution Tree is a Leaport native. um and has been very integral in us having conversation to figure out how we can develop a plan that will allow all of our teachers to participate in an opportunity to
really learn about the PLC model and and collaborate together in a professional learning um environment as we move forward and and launch this initiative. Um so we are fortunate that a few years back we received a large grant called Project Aare um that is built to to support students in in their both mental and and learning capacity in the classroom. And a piece of that grant has been structured and focused on building um through our multi-ter support system or MTSS um programming that we offer which aligns directly with the professional learning community model. And moving into year four of this grant, and it's also the final year of the grant, we have um almost all of the dollars available to be able to bring the professional learning communities at work institute here to Leaport to
allow us to put our teachers through the experience of that session um without having to also incur the costs of travel and hotel um for them to to go over to Lincolnshshire. and we're fortunate that we have a large enough staff that it makes sense for Solution Tree to come on site and host that program. Um, and so this is this is really a once in a-lifetime opportunity that we have these funds available through this grant to make that happen. Um, but with it being year four of the grant, we have to make it happen next year. Um, so we are on a timeline with the expiration of those grant dollars. Um, so we have been working with Solution Tree to identify dates. We've worked with our teachers association to determine the best timing for
this program to to fit in. We are all in agreement that doing it at the beginning of the year before teachers have really gotten into the classroom and gotten started in their classrooms is the best way to maximize teachers being able to learn something new and then put it into practice right away. Um and so as we've looked through um the way that we can make this happen, we are coming to the board this evening and asking for a revision to the 2627 academic calendar. Um so this would be for next school year. Um and what we would propose doing is shifting um the day that is allocated to parent teacher conferences in October. Um and that is a teacher work day where students are not in the building. shifting that day to the start
of the year so that we're able to build in four teacher work days to still allow us to do two teacher work days on the Monday and Tuesday of that first week that everyone returns and also hold our open houses that evening so parents and families have the opportunity to come in and meet their teachers and and see the classroom and the things that all the students look forward to as the school year kicks off. Um and then shifting then into the Wednesday and Thursday of that week continuing with two teacher work days to provide the PLC institute here um on campus. So um we would host that at Leport High School through the pack and some other um large spaces that we have available. Um and with that shift then we would push back
the start of the school year to um the Friday of that week which becomes um I believe August 14th. Um so students return on August 14th. The elimination of the parent teacher conference day on October 15th would mean we go down to just a one-day vacation for students for um fall break um which is similar to what we did uh the year before this year. Um, we understand obviously that the elimination of the parent teacher conference day formally as part of our calendar um is something that we're going to have to work through with our families that really appreciate that opportunity. So, we will be working with principles and teachers um to get creative and find ways that we can still allow those opportunities to happen for our families that want to take part in
that. Um we traditionally have seen a decrease in the number of families that participate in the parent teacher conference day um as technology has kind of made it a lot easier for parents to connect on a daily basis with their um teachers. And so um we believe that while while it is an inconvenience to not have that day built in, the return that we have for making this happen um as professional growth for our teachers um outweighs that. and we think that we can still definitely work with our families to make sure that they still have that opportunity to conference with the teachers as needed. So, um we would ask for your approval. We wanted to ask for approval of this uh calendar change as early as possible so families are notified and and can
make sure that they adjust their calendars. Um and and overall we feel that it is a minimally impactful um change with with a great opportunity for teachers to take advantage of something that again is a once in a lifetime opportunity. >> Any questions or comments for Dr. Wood? >> Okay. Does anyone want to make a motion to uh accept the recommendation to approve the calendar changes as Dr. was laid out. >> Thank you, Jim. Second. >> Second. >> Thank you, Tucker. All those in favor say I. I opposed. >> Okay. Thank you. Next item is consideration for the recommendation to approve the updated learning tree academy contract for child care at Little Learners Early Childhood Center. Dr. Wood. So, we are requesting an updated contract with little uh the Learning Tree Academy, which provides the
daycare opportunity in our um early childhood center this year. So, um we did ask the board and the board did approve an initial contract [snorts] with Learning Tree in June. Um and as we um have kind of progressed, this is obviously our first year and so in some ways kind of a pilot program. The partnership is going very very well. Um Wendy Jenkins from Learning Tree has been an excellent partner for us. Um but there are two pieces to this contract that we are asking for a revision this evening. First is a technical correction in part of the insurance policy which is outlined in the information in your board packet. Um and then the second item is that in as part of the lensure pro uh process um that Wendy had to go through to
receive lensure for the daycare um they had to install a fence. Um so there was a fence that needed to be installed to separate the playground area where the daycare students um play from where um our preschool students are playing at their recess time. Um, and so Wendy very generously agreed to fund the installation of that fence so it didn't become an expense that the district incurred. Um, and in exchange for that, we discussed with her extending the term of the initial contract to a three-year term um, so that she can have a little bit more guarantee of return on investment for um, the investment of installing that fence. And so because the partnership has been going so well, we have had an increase of students from the beginning of the year that are participating.
Um I know we're over 40 students that are participating in that daycare program now. Um it's definitely a benefit to the district to have her there and we think this is a great partnership and so we are recommending um that we update this uh lease agreement to reflect a three-year term. >> Any questions, comments? Okay. Someone want to make a motion to uh approve the updated learning tree academy contract? >> So move. >> Thank you, Tucker. Second. >> Second. >> Thank you, Justin. All those in favor say I. I. Opposed. >> Okay. [clears throat] Motion carries. Uh the next item is consideration for recommendation to approve the memorandum of understanding between the Leaport Community School Corporation and the Leaport Federation of Teachers. Dr. Tom. >> Yes. Thank you. In your packet, I gave a copy
of a proposedou between the corporation and the LFT. Um, [clears throat] what thisou does give us uh flexibility as we look at positions uh on the extra duty schedule that aren't bargained in the collective bargaining process, but they are dependent upon grant funding. And we have throughout the course of a school year or throughout the course of a contract, I should say. Um different grants that become available that give us opportunities to support extracurricular um opportunities. For example, robotics. Um that used to be a position on our EC schedule. Uh we now fund that to save our education fund. We use and access uh grant dollars. Um these positions are not bargained. They come and go. They're dependent on grant funding. So, we need flexibility. We can't wait around until um a a contract is
negotiated. Plus, they're not bargainable positions. They're positions that we determine as a corporation fit a grant and then hopefully if we do a great job in the grant writing process, we can earn them. So, we're just asking some for some flexibility. The LFT is very supportive of this. Um some of these positions, as I mentioned, um have historically been on the extra duty schedule. Um some are not. We're going to kind of keep track of them on a separate tab um so that we know for budgeting and accounting purposes what they are. But we just need some flexibility so this will even serve that. Anyone have any questions or comments for Dr. Tonagle? Okay. Does someone want to make a motion uh to recommend the approval of theou as Dr. Tanigle laid out? >> So
moved. >> Thank you, Monica. Second. >> Second. >> Thank you, Amy. All those in favor say I. >> I opposed. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. Last uh item of new business is the consideration for recommendation to adopt a 1028 project resolution, preliminary determination resolution, bond resolution, and additional appropriation resolution. Dr. Mooney. >> Yes. Uh you have copies of those in your board packet. Uh those four resolutions. I'd like to invite uh Shane, sorry, Sean McIll from Baker Tilly. Uh he's going to be able to go through those if you have any questions regarding four resolutions this presentation. Okay, hold on. Let me pull my email. [snorts] >> Is it Is it just one slide? >> No, it's a few. >> Okay, >> I'll be quick though. >> No, I just I wasn't sure.
Um No, I'm looking for it. I'm so sorry. Thought I had it pulled up. That's the only one I have. The illustrative financing. Is there another one? >> I didn't have it, so it didn't come from me. >> Okay. Do you >> That's okay. I I can just kind [clears throat] of run through it from memory if that's all right. >> You want me Sean, you want me to pull those up? Otherwise, I can grab my laptop. Brandon, if you hang on a second, [clears throat] >> it looks like we got uh 1028 first. >> The 10 first. >> Yeah. Yeah. Um so those are the resolutions. Um I did >> Sorry. Would you >> It's quite all right. We can move forward. Um so um if you would like a copy of the presentation,
we can circulate that. Um I will highlight the financial parameters uh included in the project resolutions for your consideration this evening. >> This is it I think. >> Uh it should be a PowerPoint. This is the required information to be available. Could you scroll down? >> Yep, that's it. Um, so the maximum borrowing amount um included in the resolutions is $4,510,000. Uh, these bonds are anticipated to be financed through the Indiana Bond Bank, which keeps borrowing costs down. Very conservatively, we estimate $4,380,000 will be available uh to the district uh for project costs. Uh the maximum repayment term uh included in the resolution is 5 years. However, based upon discussions with the district, we anticipate an actual repayment term no longer than 2 years. Uh the extra 3 years are just flexibility should plans change.
Estimated interest expense based upon a 5% interest rate is uh just over $300,000. Uh interest rates are well below 5% today. Last I looked, it was 3.38 on a taxable bond like this. uh which means interest expense would just be a hair over $200,000. The maximum annual payment authorized within the resolutions would be $2.5 million. Uh we estimate that this financing will simply keep the debt service tax rate level. Um AV grew um which provides for um a slight levy increase. But in any event, for the in 2026 and 2027, if AV stays the same as it is in as it's certified for 2026, uh that debt service tax rate would remain the same uh exactly where it is today at 44.32. Um the following slide illustrates how that 2-year repayment is projected to fit
into uh the existing debt service structure. uh while not increasing the rate above current levels. The next borrowing opportunity with the step down in 2028 would be in 2027. And then the following slide just illustrates uh historical total school tax rates for Leaport Community School Corporation uh and that 94% uh total school tax rate that we're estimating for 2026 based upon budget amounts uh as well as that 26 certified assessed value. Uh next slide please. Lastly, just a formality, Indiana school corporations uh are bound to uh a general obligation debt issue limit. That limit is calculated by the most recent certified debt assessed valuation divided by 3 and multiplied by 2%. The port community schools general obligation debt issue limit is $13,886,000. That doesn't mean that's your debt limit. It's your general obligation debt limit.
So, uh, when we subtract out all of the general obligation bond principle outstanding, we arrive at the $4,511,000. Uh, therefore, you have the capacity to issue $4,510,000 of general obligation bonds. As you repay the bonds, that princip that capacity goes back uh to you. So, within two years, you will have the $4.5 million uh available to bond again. Uh that concludes my prepared remarks. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding the uh financing. Also, Jimmy Shanahan, your bond council is here this evening um to answer any questions uh on the legal side of things. So high level uh what in front of us now is uh 4,510,000 of of of a geo bond um over that we that we would pay back over two years. >> Correct. >> Anyone have any questions, comments? >> Thank
you so much. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Thank you. Okay. So, um, someone want to make a motion. So, we had the hearing earlier. So, this would be where we're formally approving this. Um, so does someone want to make a motion to approve uh the adoption of the 1028 project resolution, the preliminary determination resolution, the bond resolution, and the additional appropriation resolution. >> So moved. Thank you, Amy. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Thank you, Justin. All those in favor say I. I opposed. That passes. Uh there is no other business. Uh board comment. Anyone have any board comment? I'll just point out piggybacking off Dr. Wood's um discussion about the update to the district calendar. There was a recent uh research study uh released by Texas Tech University about the effectiveness of
the PLC at work process both on student performance and outcomes on standardized tests and other learning outcomes and also on teacher retention. So um there is evidence at least in the state of Texas and beyond that when it's done right, not the light way but the right way um you're going to see outcomes. So, I think it's a great thing we're doing. I think it'll be great for the district and uh great for our staff and our students. So, it's very exciting progress. >> Any else have any >> Yeah. I'd like to thank the girls reserves and the interact club for assisting the city and getting the street lights up for Christmas. >> Nice. Yeah. >> Yeah. They test every Christmas today with the weather. >> Yeah. So every year we test them and they
come and test and help us determine which lights work and which ones don't. And >> yeah, it's just a great service they provide. [clears throat] >> Anybody else? >> So I just want to say uh happy Veterans Day to everybody. Um it is not lost on me how great of a life we all have. We got issues dealing with them all the time, but when you sum it all together, we have a great life.
