All right, we have 6:30. So we will start with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation indivisibley andice for all. [clears throat] >> All right, we will jump right in. Our first item for approval is our consent agenda that was sent out to the board prior to the meeting. I'm looking at approving minutes, planning, facilities request, professional leave and field trip request. Do we have any questions from the board or I will entertain motion to approve the consent agenda as proposed? >> I'll make a motion to motion. >> I'll second all in favor. >> I motion carried. All right. comments or request from future student. >> Your report from the student advisory members >> FPS just wrapped up reading across

America week where they had several guest readers and reading activities throughout the week. This week FPS is having breakfast and buddies. This is where students are allowed to invite a guest to eat breakfast with them in the morning before school starts and the students welcome. The teachers at FPS are finishing up their wild card book study this month and there have been many there have been so many takeaways for the teachers on how to increase engagement in their classrooms. Some teachers have had to step out their comfort zones to bring new experience for the students in the classrooms but they have overall enjoyed the book. These past two weeks fees has administered the IE test for second and third graders and the staff is very proud of their hard work. March is healthy nutrition month

And then at Pineridge the second graders just finished their I read testing and the third and fourth grade students will finish up this week. This past Friday Pine had a great turnout for their globun flash walk. This was a perfect introduction to health and wellness as they prepare as they prepare for wellness week next week. They have a strong line of guest speakers planned who will cover a variety of topics that benefit the students and they plan to wrap up that week with their Ranger run where students will see how many laps they can complete on the Pine Stroke. As Pine moves into the final

months of the school year, they will begin revisiting some of the Ranger ready skills introduced earlier this year. From the month of for the month of March, they are focusing on initiative, perseverance, and attendance and pensuality. all important skills to help students grow and succeed. And then next Friday for both schools, Beer Arena will host their third annual battle at Beer between Pion and fourth grade students. It is always fun and exciting for the students. At Cedar Press on February 27th, the students had an incredible time at their fun night with over 100 students in attendance. The evening was packed with exciting activities including karaoke, rock wall climbing, bounce houses, board games, a balloon room, and so much more. And it was a wonderful it was wonderful to see all of the students laughing, connecting

with friends, and making great memories together. And they want to give a big thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a fun and safe experience for the students. They are proud to host the area academic poll on March 19th and are excited to welcome teams across the area to compete in this academic competition that celebrates knowledge, creativity, and quick thinking. And then on Friday, they celebrated school maintenance appreciation day and would like to give a huge thank you to Mr.

Jim as he works behind the scenes every day to keep building safe, clean, and running smoothly for students and staff. They're incredibly grateful for everything he does for the school. Over here at the junior high on February 24th, Duboce County CARES hosted anformational and inspirational speaker at the Jasper Arts Center. He also included a few magic tricks during the 60-minute program. And today, our eighth graders participated in the Jubo County career cruise. 80 local employers set up booths for students to career to cruise through and they learned about many career options available to them right here in New County and had a great time. And then on Friday, March 20th, the junior high

will be celebrating students and their hard work during the third nine weeks. And then at the high school level on March 4th, those students completed the PSAT and SAT and all students worked extremely hard and we can't wait to get the results. Mr. Heler, Miss Mrs. Giler, and community partners hosted Future Wednesday for the seniors at the YMCA last week and the students learned a lot of valuable life skills. And then the school musical begins on Thursday and students have spent many hours preparing and we can't wait to watch it. BPA competed successfully at the state competition this week. Chase Mi House, Ethan Knight, Canon Cole, and Alex Fisher all advanced to the national competition that will be held later this spring. And the boys basketball team will complete compete in the regional at Charleston

this Saturday at 1. And we're looking forward to the community support. >> Very good. Thank you. Right. Next up, we will hear an update from Jabal. >> Thank you very much. Um, and uh, I'm going solo tonight. Nobody with me. So, Dale Wagner is going to run the show tonight. So, anyway, this uh, this is kind of a culmination. A lot of these slides you've seen before. We'll go through them. Uh, it's very similar to what we showed you in February. Nothing really has changed drastically since that February meeting, but we've had some additional meetings and really more into the details and and more the technical things. we finished the uh drawings up and prepared to go out for bid um issuing to contractors to receive bids a year later in April. [clears throat] So

this is uh about bid package one. So even though there may be some hints to bid package two or bid package three, this is all about bid package one. The final design that I believe you have an agenda item to authorize us to go out to bid. the site. Um, essentially this first bid package is some site work that's to the northwest, you know, parking lot area, cafeteria edition. And then the uh the training color uh that's interior renovation which is dubbed the senior quad area will be renovated. And then the area more internal in the building which is next to the CTE is the fax and art room. And that's really a reconfiguration you see here. But uh you know the bus is probably going to have a little bit different route than what

they have now and there will be an interim route that will happen during construction as well. List over there I won't read all these uh considerations but u you know we are bringing up the ADA access to the to the building and proving that uh there's some other uh other updates as well is going on. We are going to do work down here in the senior parking lot um for for um some uh van to get that ready. So because van right now is in the existing parking lot which obviously will go away during construction and is going to be reshaped even after construction. So we will create a band practice area down there where the senior senior lot is and that work in the summer along with expanding a little bit so that the

band can put their park their their van buses whatever there. So uh there are some alternates we always include alternates to protect the overall budget project. So um lower level of uh work that's happening in this first bid package number one uh cafeteria kitchen edition in green and then the senior quad they're right next to it and the senior quad is is somewhat of a refresh little little bit maybe more than a refresh. You know we will be putting new doors in the on the classrooms. Uh we're replacing some of the the walls that have crack in them. So nothing structurally wrong with them, but just with the settlement, whatever, some of that is going to be repaired and fixed as well along with new finishes, floor, wall, ceiling, new lights, uh, and I believe

it's a new HBC on the rep, too. [clears throat] So, um, that is occurring. And then over in the facts and art, that is really being reconfigured. So, facts and and art will be u u compared to what it is now. [clears throat] And again, there's some additional alternates um listed. Travel floor finish being one of them. Replacing the windows in the senior quad. Those are like uh what 50 60 years old. So, they're definitely needing to be replaced. The upper level, a little bit of uh work going on uh right now. The uh main work going on the second floor is technology wise. The technology uh main MDF um room is on the lower level. We are going to move it up to the upper level uh in this first bid package to get

ready for future future bid packages. That work will will occur in this first bid package moving along with a lot of other site utilities too. Okay. Um exterior. Um, this is the view of the new cafeteria edition. Has the u the original in the foreground 1990s classroom that wraps around that you see as you drive up 15th Street. This kind of view you see as you're driving up 15th Street and turn left into the parking lot when it's done. Then a little bit closer uh close up as well which u really creating area. Now this is this is quite a bit of concrete paving. you know, the cafeteria there with the windows. Uh the entrance that you see where the kids are going back into the more shadowed area will be uh where the entrance

to the interior entry of the cafeteria and then to the right is is where the senior quad area that we're renovating. There's a before picture there that I believe the tree is already gone now if I understand. So, um but it's really going to make a nice area. You know, we're thinking about when we renovate the band and far and whatever that getting this set up, this is probably where they would load load their bus and vans up for for that as well as buses for students. Uh, you know, it's going to be a pretty significant area of concrete paving that will be a nice area to hang out and be grass and dirt and all that. And then the the architecture we talked about I think before that making some hints to the the

past the 1990s but also uh making its own statement architecture as well with the accent green and then some of the split face block you see in the lighter color. Then interior discovery. Here's the uh the commons area in the senior quad area. We will be painting the lockers. We're not replacing those, but we are going to paint them to make them trace. They will they will do I think when we're done. That's what most people tell me when we electrostatic paint the lockers, refrace them. Then the floor finished, which you know, we have a base bed and then uh there's also an alternate to do in this area too on the floor. New ceilings, new wall covering, just a whole refresh. And you see what it looks like currently today. >> [clears throat] >>

Then typical classroom in a senior quad. um you know much more technology today and uh you know the windows that an alternative to replace exterior windows but they will get new floor finish, new wall, new ceilings, light, LED lights um and you know just the the space will really look new [clears throat] art classroom. the uh the [clears throat] windows back there in the background you see is the the Mac lab. You see the little computer sticking up above the windows slightly. Um and then u we have you know a senior high art room and a junior high art room separated and you know pull down electrical work uh work tables and um you know I I u often wonder how long we'll stay that way. We know how art is and how we like

to paint and hang things and things like that. So it probably won't look much like Miss Red very long. So uh but as you can see the lower level but I mean they're great people. They're very creative. The folks in our love working and uh the fax classroom with the new workstations and uh how many people want the yellow cabinet? We I can't echo back to 1970s. [laughter] There might be an orangement there somewhere too. So uh but yeah some new uh u new case work of course and stoves and things like that and teaching wall again new fences new floor finish wall finish you know there's some re uh configuration of the room is happening as well for the new walls going up [clears throat] of course new electrical ventilation all be brought up

as well [clears throat] the cafeteria edition the seating the cafeteria. Um, you know, again, the lower right what you have currently and you know, very very uh impressed heightwise as you go into that. This will have a great deal height. I believe it's 12 feet or 12 12 13 ft to the uh the clouds and then the scen a little bit higher than that. The winds I believe header 12 12 ft as well. So the serving line is to the to the left. Um and then we have a uh motorized screen that will be down you know the little ranger logo that we we you know school may put there or some other graphics that we want. The main doors coming into it is just to the right of the little ranger graphic that you

see on the wall. And we're taking it all in to possibly do travel on this base pin will be more rubber floor. [clears throat] A little better view of the uh serving area. Serving line. Any questions on the design? Okay. Okay. So, schedule, we're clicking right along here. We've been here uh a few other times, but right now we're asking to uh go out to bid asking for permission from the school board to issue the bid documents. They would go to reporapics tomorrow. they're all ready to go and packaged up and then we will receive bids on April 9th um and start construction June and there may be a little bit of site work if you drive by that uh end of May if you drive by Memorial Day you might see a little bit

of site work happening even as early as that and then uh we do have other projects that we're looking on looking at that will be in 2026 2028 that we will be back talk Thank you very much. I you know we talked about earlier u two and a half years it's been you know as I was sending the final PowerPoint to Dr. kind of look back. Man, we started this project two and a half years ago. So many discussions taking place since then. Uh the board has been terrific to work work with. Staff have been terrific to work with. Matt and Ryan, it's just been been a pleasure. Stephan interjecting to keep us on the trail as well. So, it's just been all working a great team to work with and um we hope that

there's some contractors out there that's hungry that want to work work here as easily as we do and we're looking forward to the bid. >> Thank you. [clears throat] >> All right. Next up on the agenda, we're going to consider resignations. >> Yeah, we have several this month. Um Amyor as teacher at Gen Elementary, Doris Lynn as cafeteria worker at Cedar Crest and Juliana Bigmer as junior high tier coach. >> All right, I will consider a motion to approve resations as presented. >> Motion by that. >> I'll second by Lane. All in favor motion here. >> Next we will consider hirings. >> Yeah, Mr. Hson has recommended Tammy Hos as a cafeteria manager at Pineridge and Mr. Hero has recommended Emma Hipper as the Forest Park assistant girls tennis coach motion to consider hiring. >>

I'll make a motion. >> I'll second. All in favor? >> I [clears throat] wish. All right. Next is our favorite agenda item. Consider donations. Yeah, we have a $50 donation to a senior student's lunch account in memory of Reno, $1,000 anonymous donation to the drama club at Forest Park, $50 donation to um the Rocks Group from Universal Design, $500 anonymous donation for DNR ATV safety helmet program to Forest Park's FFA program. Also $25 from John's Tractor Service to Fors Park FFA, $453.89 from Superior Egg to Forsburg FFA. And then also we had 80 pounds of turkey tenders, which is a $524 value from Barass Foods to FFA. And I'm assuming, Bailey, that was for FFA week for the the lunchon, correct? Y. >> Yes. Which was very delicious, by the way. Thank you to you

and the FFA crew. And also we have $8,333.33 from Chris and Don Tredder for the baseball. We say this every month and we'll say it again. We're very thankful for all donations we get from the community and support that they give. So if you see any of these folks out and about, please give them our thanks. With that, I will entertain a motion to consider donations as presented. >> Make a motion. >> Motion by that. >> I'll second by Lane. All in favor? I >> I motion carried. >> Next, we will consider approval of the seek bid proposal from contractor for the board park additions and renovation project that we follow up from what family just said. This is two and a half years in the making and we are finally ready to put this

out to bid. So, I would like to ask permission from the board to um to advertise and seek proposals from contractors for the Forest Park additions and renovations project for bid package number one. >> All right. I will make that motion to approve the seeking of bid proposal. >> Second by K. All in favor? I >> motion carried. >> Next we consider awarding a bid for the Pineriidge and Cedar Crest improvements project Construction. >> Yeah. So um we had a bid opening last week for the Pineriidge and Cedar Crest um interior improvements project and Cyper Construction came in as the the low bid for both projects. um at Pineridge and Cedar Crest. And so at Pine Ridge, I would like to recommend um approval of um awarding the base bid of $160,000. And then at

Cedar Crest, um awarding the base bid plus alternate C1A, which was $121,960, and awarding that contract to construction. >> All right. I will entertain a motion to approve the proposal from the plan. Motion >> by motion second by not all in favor. >> I motion carried. >> Next we will consider the awarding of a bid for the Pine Ridge roof replacement. >> So we also had the the bid opening for the Pine Ridge roof project last week. Initially with this bid project we were um and still are planning a two-phase approach. So on summer 2026 um replacing it the the middle part of the building at Pineridge and then coming back in summer 2027 to finish up the replacement of that roof. So at this point due to the way that the bids came in

um I'm simply recommending that we move forward with phase one in that um contract would be awarded to um Escola Incorporated. They have it. They have the lowest bid of $62,500. So, I'm recommending moving forward with that contract for phase one and then our plans to put the project for the remaining portion of the road out to bid um this fall. >> I can't remember. [laughter] >> All right. We will entertain a motion to approve the bid for the recruit placement as presented. >> Motion by Lane. >> I'll second. All in favor? >> I car. >> Next, we will consider awarding a bid for the Forest Park boiler replacement project. >> Yes. So, we also had the bid opening last week for the boiler replacement project. And I'm recommending that we award the bid to

Mesar Mechanical. They have base bid of um $652,000 and that is also subcontracting with Alpha for the HVAC temperature controls at a price of $67,500. I'm also recommending alternate number one which was um a $3,500 alternate for the supervisory control software. So altogether I'm recommending moving forward with that project to Mr. mechanical for that bid of $723,000. >> All right. I entertain a motion to consider awarding the bid for the boiler to me. I'll make a motion. >> Motion second. >> All in favor? I >> All right. Next, we have considering the awarding of bids for the 2026 through 2030 bus contract. So, um, our transportation director, Mr. Hos, and I have been, um, working on doing some negotiations with our bus drivers. Um, it's it the process looked a little bit different this year.

As we know, bus drivers are hard to find and that certainly has influenced um, the system that we have here. For example, whenever you look back at our contract that ran from 2022 to 2026, we had 13 routes that were contracted with contracted drivers. And um this year looks a little bit different and we're recommending awarded bids to four contractors. So um contractors being Michelle Ferman, Jake Bordon, Scott Sheeter, and Dean Bell. So moving from 13 contracted routes to four contract contracted routes certainly makes things look a bit a little bit different for us in the future as a school corporation in regards to looking at our fleet, managing that fleet. Um so things things here are changing as far as our system for transportation and we're working accordingly moving forward. [clears throat] So, um

in in the meantime, what I would recommend is that we move forward with these um four contract routes to those individuals for um the years 2026 through 203. >> Great. [clears throat] I will entertain a motion to approve those four contract presented. I'll make a motion. >> Motion by Lane. I'll second. All in favor? >> I motion carried. Just a quick comment there. You know, working with our staff, there's several on that list that are internal staff members that are stepping into those roles and driving around. Just testament to the teamwork. [clears throat] >> Absolutely. >> Next, we will consider the approval of the Burton Elementary School intercom system. >> Yes. So, this is part of the Berden Elementary project that we took to the February board meeting and and um the board approved moving

forward with that base bid proposal. We paused on the intercom system because we wanted time for us to explore further that this the recommended intercom system was something that we felt comfortable with wanted to move forward with and um expand that system. So looking at forest part that renovation we obviously want to move in a direction where we are choosing products that are consistent across the school corporation. So just from a management efficiency of of services um or a tech department knowing one intercom system as opposed to four intercom systems certainly is is a much better approach. So we paused on that bid um on the alternate of the intercom system last month just to do the explor exploration and ensure that this was a system that we definitely want to move forward with. So

after that exploration, we we do feel comfortable um recommending the CareHawk system and due to the price of that intercom system coming in at $14,500. I wanted to bring it back to you to make sure that we got approval for that alternate >> question approval for the Bonos. [clears throat] I'll second that second. All >> in favor? >> I next up we will consider a date to visit the schools. >> Yeah. Specifically, um school board scheduled the date some plan in April to um to visit our schools and see all the great things going on. So was hoping we could come up with some type of date that works for board member schedules and also the building schedules as well. So, just as a recommendation, um I know that they start testing um primarily the

week of April 20th on for the next several weeks. So, if we're able to identify a date within the first two weeks of April, I think that would be ideal. >> We have a board meeting on the 14th. We only have it as >> we have done that in the past the same day as I guess the question is if you do that you have the board meeting earlier that day approved it last Tuesday but instead of 6:30 do you want maybe do the board meeting at just an idea. >> So, one of the things that I was going to bring up in other business and concerns is that I would like to schedule a work session um at that April 14th meeting. And the purpose of that work session would be to um review

district finances and specifically um discuss long-term financial projections for us. So I was going to to suggest that we do a work session prior to the school board meeting and along with that um steel would then be in house to guide those discussions. So >> do you want to do all that on the same day? [laughter] >> What about that Wednesday? >> Let's see. Move it visit to the 15th on a Wednesday. >> I'm leaving 15th. >> That's not a big deal. [laughter] No, >> it's fine. the visit on eth work. >> Yeah. >> So, I think the important question here though is where are we eating lunch? [laughter] >> What's on the menu that day? >> Yeah. [laughter] >> All right. So, the eight for everyone table. >> Yeah. >> [snorts] >> Okay. So,

April 8th, >> April 8th. >> Okay. >> All right. Any other business? >> Okay. So, yes to the work session on April 14th. So, Tuesday. >> Yes. this. >> So, I'm thinking I will need to check on steel by it I would say either a 4:30 or 5:00 start time for that work session. And then also um I sent out some information about the Indiana School Board Association. They have their regional meeting at the clubhouse on April 20th. So, just a reminder if you guys are able to um attend that evening meal to let me know if you need to register. >> Principles, you know, anything from the group. >> I had a commendation I wanted to bring up. Uh so this really goes out to the administrators, the coaching staff, uh really the parents

of our high school boys basketball team. So I think it was brought up earlier, you know, they won the sectional and the victory was less about what happened during the game and on the floor and the score on the scoreboard, but what happened? So we're all Indiana basketball folks. We know, you know, sectional victory happens, the ladders come down, we cut cut down the net. Um, so I thought it was really neat. The, uh, senior class, uh, there was one senior member that climbed that ladder, cut a piece of that net off, took that down. The entire team, went up to the top of Memorial Gym, gave that piece of net to a fan that always there at every single game, not able to make it down to the floor to celebrate with the team.

So, the team went up to him. thought it was just absolutely amazing. Before any other team members went and cut down a piece of that net, they took him his piece. Thought it was really cool. So, you know, it was a great victory. Proud to be a Ranger, but more so about what happened off that court happened. So, just want to pass that along to Absolutely. >> Anything else on the table? I will entertain motion to advertise. Great question. [laughter] Good job. See you. Y >> here
