Thank everyone for coming to our early special session meeting. We'll start with our pledge and our prayer. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day, this beautiful weather we're having. We just pray that you will be with all of us today. Help us in the decisions that we are making and welcoming some new jets into our family and just help us to have a productive meeting in your name. Amen. All right, our first item here is the approval of the agenda and there are no changes this time. So, is there a motion to approve the agenda? >> I'll make the motion. >>
I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Aye. >> Opposed? Motion carries. Next, we have our policy board action items and we're here for an exciting time because we have to welcome some new people into our our jet family and our approval to hires will will start with Mr. Ben McIntosh as our middle school principal. And um Mr. Mr. McCreary, did you have anything you would like to share with us? >> Yeah, first off, I just like to thank the board for making the time to come in this morning. I know Mrs. Sargent is down in the sunny state of Florida, hopefully picking up seashells on the Marco Island beach this morning, but I appreciate everybody else that was able to able to make it in. So, I think it's a real advantage for these guys
if we can get them hired here this week just so they can get rolling officially on some of their duties that they'll have during during summer here. So, as you know, we went through an interview Excuse me. process for our middle school principal Um, and interviewed several candidates and Mr. McIntosh is one of our our final candidates, obviously. And I know uh um, Mrs. Gerber and Mrs. Frank were part of that final interview committee, and uh just uh had an opportunity to talk with him on a couple of occasions. Just really enjoyed hearing his passion and his heart uh for education, and particularly specifically uh for for middle school students. And uh middle school students are a unique uh age group. Uh they're they're trying to turn into high schoolers or still having some of
those elementary tendencies, and I lived in that world for a lot of years, so I admire people who are willing to do that. And I think one of the things as I made all my reference calls, um probably as much as any reference call I've ever made in my life, I really felt like the people that I were talking with were just truly excited for us and him um uh about the opportunity to have him in this role for us as a middle school principal. Like I said, he's got quite a few years of experience teaching middle school, and then uh variety of different leadership roles in Fort Wayne community working with secondary uh principals and leadership teams, and as an instructional coach, and just really excited to have him on board and uh to
get him going. I think he'll be a uh great teammate for for us uh really K through 12, but specifically for Mr. Bish, uh who we recently hired as our high school principal. I think they'll compliment each other very well. Uh so very honored and excited to recommend Mr. Ben McIntosh as our middle school principal. >> All right. Is there a motion to approve Mr. McIntosh as our new middle school principal? >> I'll make that motion. >> I'll second it. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Opposed? Motion carries. WELCOME. MR. MCINTOSH. I'D LIKE TO GIVE YOU A MINUTE IF YOU'D LIKE TO SAY anything to us. >> Sure. I'm just honored and uh humbled to be here today to be a part of the Anderson Central family. And I look forward to partnering with
you, partnering with our community, with our teachers, to create the best learning environment possible for our students. So, thank you so much. >> You're welcome. Uh next on our our agenda here under Mr. McIntoshes, we want to uh provide him with some additional days. Um I believe it's 10 days that in here in June so that he can get started before the July 1 contract uh begins. So, is there a motion to approve the additional days to Mr. McIntoshes' contract? I'll make that motion. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Aye. >> Opposed? Okay. Motion carries. Now, you can get to work. And we welcome you and and are excited to see what you're going to do with our middle schoolers. All right. Uh next we have Mr. David Vogel for our varsity basketball
coach. Um Mr. McLair, I'm going to hand it over to you again cuz I think you might have a little bit to say. >> Yeah. So, uh obviously that's a role that is near near to my heart after many many years. So, just really excited to recommend Mr. David Vogel this morning as our varsity boys basketball coach. I was just talking to Mr. Weekley down here at the potentially at the June board meeting or certainly by the July board meeting we will also be making a recommendation on him for a teaching position. Uh we're still got some irons in the fire with a few of our positions, but we fully anticipate uh doing that and I know he's expecting hopefully that that is going to happen. That'll be part of the part of the role.
So, we do expect him to be in the building, uh but this morning we're just approving him as our varsity boys basketball coach just again so he can get rolling with our kids and our and our parents a little bit here to to get some things in place this summer. Uh he does have a meet and greet scheduled tonight with our parents at 5:30 uh this afternoon. Uh so, looking forward to that. But again, just uh really excited to have him on board. He is a 2014 graduate of Norwalk High School and we will as I pull out old scouting reports I've got every scouting report hundreds of that I've done all the way back into the fall of '99 he was described as a tremendous player. At some point I want to have a
free throw shooting contest with him because I'm so confident I can take him in that. You look at him and you look at me I don't want to play one-on-one anymore but he was a tremendous player at Norwell went on to have a nice career at DePauw over in Greencastle and then had the opportunity to do a grad assistant role the Big 12 with coach Jamie Dixon out of TCU and has followed that up with some stints in small college ball over in Ohio with Wittenberg and as an associate head coach at Ohio Wesleyan the last several years. So again just as I made those reference calls just a little bit as I said with Mr. McIntosh people just very excited for us to have the opportunity to have him in that role. I think
he'll be a tremendous influence obviously from a basketball standpoint but I'm just excited for the the quality of the young man that we're hiring here to put into this role to lead our kids in our K-12 program here at Adams Central. So I look forward to to working with him you know that role and just a really excited to have him on board. So that's my recommendation Mr. David Vogel for our varsity boys basketball coach. >> Okay. Thank you. Is there a motion to approve Mr. Vogel for the varsity basketball coach position? >> I'll make that motion. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Aye. >> Opposed? All right. Mr. Vogel welcome. We're glad to have you here today and you have a chance if you'd like to say a few things. >> Sure.
Thanks. Just echo most of what he said. I'm just really excited. Checked pretty much all of our boxes from a U D academics and athletic standpoint. You know growing up down the road obviously have a lot of respect for Adams Central and really excited to get started with the boys. So thanks again. >> Welcome. All right. Moving on we have two more here. Next we have Mr. Sam Johnson and this is for some IT summer help. I don't know if there's any >> Yeah, so Sam has worked with Mr. Schneider in the in the IT department I think the last 2 years just as a student intern in there and just with all the summer things they have going on Mr. Schneider has made the request that we would approve him so I think we
approved him up to 25 hours a week over the course of the next uh you know, several months here till he's a recent graduate will be a graduate on Sunday before he goes off to school in the fall. So excited for for Sam to work in there and I think it'll be a big benefit to our IT guys here this summer. >> All right, is there a motion to approve Sam Johnson for IT summer help? >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Aye. >> Opposed? All right, motion carries. And then Mr. Chris Espinoza for some maintenance summer help that they think they're needing for the summer. >> Yeah, same thing. Chris is going to be a a graduate as of this Sunday here from Adam Central. So yeah, he'll
be doing a variety of things both inside and outside here during the summer just the things that need to get done. So he'll obviously end that role when he goes off to Purdue to be a Boilermaker sometime in mid-August when his mother will have an opportunity to take him over there. So but yeah, we'll still be excited to have him around. He'll be a good good summer worker for us. >> Okay, is there a motion to approve Chris Espinoza for some maintenance summer help? >> I'll make that motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> Aye. >> Opposed? All right, motion carries. Welcome to those two young men and now we need a motion to adjourn because we're at that time. >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Aye.
>> Opposed? All right, that was easy. Welcome to our our new employees and uh next board meeting is next Tuesday night, regular time, 7:00 p.m., not 7:00 a.m. Thank you all for coming. >> Yeah, I'm just going to go.
