All right, welcome to our March meeting. We're glad to see a large group here. We're going to go ahead and get started with our pledge and our prayer. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Father God, we thank you for this day. We thank you for the day where we got to come to school today as a board and um discuss important things and also see our teachers in action and our students in action. Uh we are so blessed to have that opportunity. I just pray that you'll be with us in the decisions that we make for our school. In your name, amen. >> All right. First item here is
to approve our agenda. We do have an addition of on the consent agenda to establish a deadline for our tuition transfer application. That was letter B on there. So that is the only addition unless I've missed anything else from central office. >> No. Thank you. >> Okay. All right. Is there a motion to approve the agenda? >> I'll make that motion. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Opposed? Okay, motion carries. Next, we have the approval of our minutes that were sent to you. Uh, these were the minutes from our February 10th executive session and regular session minutes. Is there a motion to approve the minutes? >> I'll make a motion. Second. >> Uh, any discussion or questions on on for the for the minutes? All in favor? >> Opposed? All right. Motion carries.
Uh, next we have several recognitions that we are happy to see all these smiling faces with us today. We're gonna go ahead and get started with girls varsity basketball. >> Okay, as always, we like to celebrate our student athletes when they have accomplishments that are being made and this winter season was absolutely no exception. So, we have uh a bunch of student athletes we'd like to recognize here today because they did represent the Adam Central community as a whole very well. And I want to start with Kate Fischer. Kate had an outstanding senior senior season this year where she broke AC's all-time three-point scoring record. Um she now holds both the single season and career records for three-pointers in girls basketball. So, we want to wish her luck next year as she heads to Indiana,
Fort Wayne, where she's going to major in >> Physical therapy. AWESOME. [applause] >> UH, our next gentleman is not here with us, but I do want to recognize him. Just like Kate, Brilland uh Reber had an outstanding senior season this year in boys basketball where he ended up crossing the threshold of a thousand career points and that put him in AC basketball history as the second total in career points and uh he is the ninth person then to have scored a th000 points in his career. So, BRILAN REVER [applause] uh Damon is a two-time state qualifier in diving where this year he just missed the podium by five points. Damon will be having his college signing here coming up where he will be diving for Clarion. Clarion is a D2 school that's just outside of
Pittsburgh and they are currently ranked number one in the nation. Wow. So yeah, we want to wish him well as he carries forth the jet pride. So great season this year. [applause] >> Uh these two gentlemen put together an outstanding postseason in wrestling this year where both boys finished as sectional champs, regional champs, semi-state champs, and qualified for the state tournament in Indie. Dylan went on to place fourth at 150. Grayson finished fifth at 165. I want all you boys to come up here and surround him as a team. So, here were some of their teammates. The wrestlers as a whole had an outstanding season. ACAC dual champions, ACAC individual champions. Lafayette Jeff tournament champions, sectional and regional runner up with a fifth place finish at semi-state. And the bag was finished second then in
the IHS WCA team state duels. They had a great season and with them is coach Landis. You want to come up and say a few words? >> Yeah, I'll just piggy back off what Jeff said. We had an amazing uh team season this year. Uh so we asked the whole team to come up here. Uh finished 27 and two as a dual um record. I'm just proud of these guys' efforts all through the season. Um ton of accomplishments. Um, we could go on and on about the accomplishments, but uh, just the the way that these guys dealt with adversity all season was what stands out to me in front and about these this group. Um, wrestling is kind of designed to do that. You guys can kind of get adversity no matter what. Um, they
they all chose to uh, keep fighting back and not to give in. So, I'm just very proud of this group of guys and just uh, overall great season for them. [applause] Coach Landis, can I make a quick comment just uh for most of you guys know my background in athletics has been involved in a bass as a basketball coach, but as a basketball guy kind of think for a basketball guy probably know more wrestling than most basketball guys. I would guess maybe as much or more as any basketball former basketball coach in the state. So, I've seen a lot of wrestling over the years, but I'm not sure I'm going to pick on OG a little bit because I I've seen a lot of wrestling matches, but I literally was almost sick to my stomach.
This is the first time I had the opportunity to ever go to the semi-state just beginning my past career. I just I was never available to go to that. and I'd heard how awesome it was and it was for sure. But I understand that ticket round for everybody is kind of one of the most tense moments in sports and you were kind of right there on that round and I literally thought I was going to be sick [laughter] watching you in that match. So that was it was fun and it was that that's part but I always think that's part of the fun of athletics is getting to the point where you literally get so worked up you almost can feel sick to your stomach. So, I was glad you pulled that out and obviously
had a tremendous run the rest of the way. And again, Grayson and all you guys, thank you for your efforts, but I had to just throw that out, August, that you uh you had me my literally my stomach was wrenching watching you out there. I've been nervous. The first time I've ever been that nervous at a wrestling match. So, [laughter] glad you won. Great job. >> And yes, I can't imagine the the parent role in that. So, yep. Thanks, guys. >> [applause] >> Next on our recognition list, we have um our band. >> So, not sure who is out there. [laughter] >> What happened for the room? >> Interesting. It just disappeared. >> That was like part of it was I was thinking I was like 10 minutes before like John was like my best
friend said or something like that. Oh my gosh. >> Oh, sorry. Yes, we're we're ready. >> Okay. Um, so we had uh 18 total students that uh performed at state finals this year for is the solo ensemble. Um, out of that were eight soloists and we had two uh ensembles. So um that's the most entries we we've ever had at least in the time I've been here. So 10 total entries. Um every single student that went down this year got a gold medal whether it was in their ensemble or in their solo. So, uh, solos for Liberty Harshman. Uh, this obviously isn't everybody here, but we've got most everybody here. Uh, Liberty Harshman, who received gold in her with her clarinet solo. Uh, Lexi Hamilton, who also received gold with the clarinet solo. Uh, Brianna
Toner, who just missed gold uh literally by half a point uh with her with her alto saxophone solo. And Brianna's a freshman as well, so that's pretty pretty remarkable that there's a freshman. Pretty awesome. Uh, Felix Witset, who received gold with her alto saxophone solo. Um and then also received a silver with her fair baritone saxophone uh solo. So she actually took two solos down which was pretty remarkable. Um especially so that really awesome to see. Uh Gideon Bergen received a gold on his trumpet solo um which is this is his second year going back down to state solo towel. Uh Derek Ersome, who couldn't be here, uh received gold on his trombone solo and Maddox Carter uh received gold on his tuba solo. So those are our soloists this year total entries, which is
pretty awesome. Uh and then our clarinet choir uh received gold with distinction. Um so that means basically in the scoring they have about three points total that they can miss and still earn a goal. Um they miss less than a point and a half. Um, so almost perfect scores across the board. Um, and the, uh, the clarinet choir, I think this is the first time, again, in the time I've been the director here, it's been the first time we've had an ensemble at state get gold with distinction. So, it's pretty pretty uh, remarkable there. But, uh, so Lexi Hamilton, Liberty Harshman, Olivia Heindel, Claire Hine, Elijah Sheeperstein, uh, Caleb Ersum, Sophia Reef, Erica Sheets, Connor Layman. Um, and four of those members, Caleb, Sophia, Erica, and Connor are all eighth graders. So, that was pretty
awesome for them to be a part of that and to do as well as they did. So, congratulations you guys. And then our saxophone choir um consisted received gold with distinction as well. So, we had two ensembles that that received that. Uh that was Phoenix Witet, Jacob Sheets, Patty Wilson, Jessis Bergen, Brianna Connor again, and then uh Tegan Harshman uh as well who's also in December. So did an awesome job playing the third out to the park on on their own for that. So all these guys have done a lot of really really hard work and uh both of those ensembles are pretty much studentled. you know, obviously we have interaction with them, but um usually it's conversations with our leaders and they they will pick up a lot of it to do with um
I don't know what our goals are for them in those reversing times uh during especially during SAP and such. So um really I would I want to commend uh Phoenix and uh Lexi and Liberty just on their leadership. Uh I think Dria really did a good job with that as well. Um just all these guys really worked together excellent. So efforts can ask a quick question before we clap. I'm just kind of curious. Do you guys and maybe obviously drive Mr. Kelly, do you guys pick your own music that you're going to play or there specific or do you get assigned? Is everybody playing the same piece? I'm just kind of curious for the benefit of this when you're actually there competing. How how do you decide what you're playing? I'm just one of kids
answer that for us. Liberty, you're right in front. I'll put the pressure on. [laughter] Speak authority. For our solos, for the most part, we just pick our own. So, usually have recommendations for solos, but I know some of us did pick our own solos and then we also did get congratulations. It's awesome. >> And there's there's a Oh, yeah. Go ahead. >> Just to answer that further, there's there's so puts out kind of a list. It's a required list for those solos. Um, so they they typically go through and and have some ideas and then like Maddox had one that you wanted to pick got into it and it's felt that was a little more challenging than than uh maybe the school set was at. So we kind of worked together. >> Yeah. Thanks for
having us guys. Well, I would like to introduce EstherRandle. Esther Crannle is very instrumental in our music room. She is a leader. She is no stranger to the stage or performance. Um she acts, she sings, and for your um recognition today, she went to state most recently for her a piano solo. She received gold with distinction. And this is not only her first year, but this is her second year of going to state and earning gold with distinction. So Esther, [applause] you play Esther, >> what did you play in the competition? >> Um it's called V. I won't pretend that I know exactly what sounds like you had to know what you were doing. [laughter] >> Thank you. [cough] [clears throat] >> I my student is not here yet, but um I would like to
take a moment to recognize um one of our outstanding students for his academic achievements. Um Ethan Crockett was named a National Merit finalist. Um so this is a very prestigious honor for him. Um this is a highly competitive program based on his exceptional performance on his PSAT um NMSQT test that he took uh two falls ago um as a junior. And so based on his superior academic record, his leadership, his extracurricular involvement, um you know, recommendation from the school, um he was he was has moved on to this kind of final stage. And so out of the over a million students that have taken PSAT each year, um only a small percentage are advanced to that finalist standing. So um earning that dedication or that distinction, um places Ethan in one of the top, um
high school students in the nation. So, we just like to give a shout out for him for his um academic excellence. And hopefully we will hear more in a couple weeks to see if he's actually won some dollar amounts, but usually just being a finest, the the students colleges will usually award them individual scholarships that way, too. So, great job to Mr. Ethan Crockett. [applause] Thank you. It's always fun for us to get to see the accomplishments of our students and it's fun to go around classrooms today, but then to actually get names with faces is helpful too for us. All right. Um, public comments. I I don't think I saw anyone sign in and you can let me know if I'm wrong. >> I didn't see anything. Okay. All right. All right. Then we
will move on to our consent agenda. Um, does any board member want to remove any items um as part of the consent agenda [clears throat] today to vote [snorts] on separately? And we will just keep everything as is. And we will move to our first portion of that which is our payment vouchers and fund reports. Um, questions, comments, or anything Mr. McCclary you'd like to add in about that? >> Not overly specific. I don't think there were any ones that maybe stood out as as overly strange or anything like that. The one that you might have just I kind of noticed and I talked to Don about a little bit. We do have one on there that's a bus driver plugin. Uh you might have seen if you looked real close, you might have saw
a lot of our bus drivers getting a $55 payment voucher for a plugin. And uh correct me if I'm wrong, they're basically when you get that bad weather, cold weather, they're taking those home and plugging them in. So we're a little more assured that they're going to start in the morning. Um, that was a pretty minimal cost. Um, there was another one yet that I think actually Mrs. Frank, you might have asked me about where it showed up. It was something from the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents had Mr. Layman's name on that and she was just kind of wondering if maybe we had missed cancelling a subscription like I know can happen to us sometimes uh, with various things. But actually, his name was just still on there. That has been transferred over
to me. So, there wasn't anything with that. But other than that, Dawn, would you have anything to add specifically unless somebody has questions? Okay, then we will move on to um establishing the deadline for the deadline date for tuition transfer applications. Mccclure, I'm going to let you >> Yes. So, Mrs. Ish, feel free to hop in if I miss anything. So, um as you're all very well aware, we have the ability to accept students from other school districts, other areas via the tuition transfer process. one of the as part of that board policy, it states in there uh that the board will establish dates uh for the kind of the deadline to apply for that. Um which is why we just added that today. We wanted to make sure we had those dates out there
in a public fashion planning well in advance. Uh but we're recommending the date of June 1, which would be June 1, 2026 for a student that is wanting to enroll uh for first semester beginning in August of next year. And then if we are having a student wanting to transfer in beginning in January of 27, the deadline for that would be November one. Um obviously you understand there could be some extenduating circumstances. A family moves to moves into the area and mid July obviously they're new to the community would have an opportunity to do that and our administrators would have the ability to evaluate. This is simply setting uh the deadlines for tuition transfer applications uh for the coming year. So, did I leave anything out of that? >> Okay, thank you. All right, we're
going to move on to we had a couple of donations. Um first, we had some elementary book donations. Um looks like those were from Mrs. Huter. There was also an anonymous donation and then several books from the Adams County Soil and Water Conservation District. So, we are thankful for those and I'm sure they went through all the proper process of being approved and um we are happy to accept those. Next, we have a gift card that was for our Jet Cart. And this morning, we were fortunate enough to have a presentation from our fifth graders um sharing with us what the Jet Card is. And um then thriving financial is who has made a donation to our students for that jet cart and and getting the supplies for that. So we are also thankful for
that. >> And may could I just hop in just for the sake of those in attendance. The jet cart is basically a studentled uh kind of a behavior reward initiative that they're trying to establish in the fifth grade where they collect points for various things that they do throughout the year and then they can use that to purchase various items uh from the jet card. So that's been a studentled kind of initiative and uh they've been working to uh then figure out a way to fund that initiative. So we're appreciative as Mrs. Frank said for a a donation from Thriving. >> Okay. Um next we're going to move on to our region 8 educationou and um I know that you know you guys have had a chance to look through that and this is something
that's >> yeah basically signature saying we're continuing our relationship with them. >> Okay. And then we did have a couple of grants. Uh first was accelerated resolution therapy training grant um from the Adams County uh foundation. This was I believe for elementary guidance counselors. I don't know if anyone wants to speak to that and add any detail there to that one. >> I don't have anything specific. Just some training they had the ability to to do there and fortunate to get a grant to pay for it. And then we also have the FFA farming first aid kit grant from lead forward grants um that we're very appreciative that they were had a chance to put those first aid kits together. Um to my knowledge there from the information we got. I don't know if anyone
else has anything to add to on that one. >> So my belief is that they are eventually going they're putting those together and they're eventually bottom line it's a first aid kit to have for farmers to have like in their tractors and their combines etc. So, not exactly sure how they're distributing those, but I believe the they're planning to distribute them to people in the local community, uh, just to have in their machinery, their equipment in the event of an emergency. Um, and you kind of had a list of the things, some of the things that'll be included in that. So, yeah, appreciate them doing that and, uh, kind of one of those things hopefully they're putting together to give to people that they won't need, but if they need them, they're there. >> It's
true. All right. And next we have um the 2027 budget and CBA calendar draft that I'm guessing that Don you've had something to do with putting that together, giving us some dates and just to look at. Did you want to have any do you have any comments that you want to make on that? >> It's just uh kind of like a first read of a policy just taking a look at those. Um the fall ends up being a busy time with both budget and negotiations. So, I'm trying to get this down to one calendar so that we all know what is expected and required. >> Yeah. So, our first one's coming up in August. That's that's what we're looking at already for next school year. Um, so hopefully you've all had a chance to just
take a quick look at those dates. Um, so it was our first >> I tried to make them to coincide with our regular scheduled board meetings. >> Thank you. We appreciate that. [laughter] All right. Anyone have any questions about any of those dates or see anything that you would like to be looked at closer on that? Okay. All right. Next, we're going to move on to some textbook recommendations. Um, I believe these were both Mr. Jones and a technology. We have a construction introduction introduction and safety textbook and an a technology welding and fabrication textbook. Um I I don't know that you have anything to add, Mrs. I ish on that, but >> they're both for the same classes for a power and looking at doing a little bit more certifications with some of our
students um who take that class. >> Okay. Thank you. >> All right. Um overnight out of state trips. Um this one we were already aware of. This was just needing a formal approval, but it was our for our high school boys swim and dive compet competition for Damon Light um at UPUI back in February. Uh and then we're going to move on to recommendations. Uh uh first one is from Mrs. Candy Stzman. This is a temporary wage increase um for a little bit of added duties that she has um been taking care of for for a bit of time. >> Yeah. So again, yeah, that that started late January. she just picked up just again some additional responsibility, some additional hours being accumulated. So again, we believe that's a temporary uh sort of situation there,
but wanted to recognize the extra duty she had with that and then kind of communicated that. So >> okay. Um we also have uh Miss Emma Gentus who is taking care of a long-term maternity substitute position I believe in kindergarten. Is that accurate? Okay. So we're happy to have her doing that for us. might make just one side note on that just in case anybody has any questions. So Emma who is an Adam graduate is currently doing her student teaching. Um so Mrs. McCall and possibly Mr. Riley may involve with that a little bit but just kind of working through is she at PFW is that where she's doing that through I believe uh worked with her student teaching advisor the university just to make sure that was okay to move into her role. So,
uh, to some extent, at least a few of the weeks that she's still maternity leave, she's actually also finishing up her her student teaching responsibilities, but she's done a a nice job down there in that kindergarten. So, kind of blessed to have somebody take over for the short term here in that role that the kids are already kind of familiar with, the teachers already know. So, I think that'll make that a pretty nice transition. Okay. Not that I'm correcting you, but I know students sometimes get upset about if we mix up their alma modders, but it's Ball State University is where she's at. >> You know what? >> That I misspoke. >> I'm not saying that you looking at it just to say >> I didn't quite accuse her being a boiler when she's a
huge [laughter] correct that don't want the Cardinals chirping at me. [laughter] >> All right. Glad we got that cleared up. All right, we're going to move on to um resignations. We have three of those. Um our first two involve athletics. Mr. Clayton Lockage, assistant athletic direct director for the spring of the 2526. Um he had some other things that um some other responsibilities and he was not able to fulfill that role. So he is wanting to resign from that position. And uh Mrs. Ashley Stafford, assistant athletic director in fall 2627. Um she has asked that to resign from that position as well. Um so we thank them both for their their work in the athletics um department. Lastly, um we have some very big shoes to fill. Lots of discussion on whether or not we
would accept a resignation from this person. Um but Mrs. Katie is as our high school middle school principal. Um I want to give you a chance to say something if you'd like. >> Yeah. Um certainly. >> So really I just want to thank everybody for the opportunity to serve. Um I couldn't even begin to thank everybody that I should here at the school because it is an amazing place. The high school, middle school, teachers, kids, community. Um, I wouldn't change anything about it. It is amazing. So, I think back to I don't know who all was on the um interview committee, but I'm sure whoever you were there. No, Mr. Riley, I think that you were one of those people. Jeremy, I know that you were there, too. It was co if you think back
to that was co. It was a Zoom interview way back then. Um, and boy was I nervous. And I will tell you, I work in a school where we are learning a million things every day. And I can guarantee in the last six years, nobody's learned more than me. Um it has just been an incredible journey. [snorts] So I thank everybody for that. Um and I thank you for the opportunity to serve. It's been awesome. >> Thanks. >> Thank you. And we thank you for your leadership because you you've taken us through some difficult times and helped us get over some hurdles and and I think everyone up here is thankful for for you being at that in that spot. Um but we do understand moving on too. So thank you for being there. Um,
anyone else have anything that they would I don't want to leave anybody out. If you have any questions or comments on the consent agenda or discussion, >> I would just follow up just what you said and just again publicly offer my thanks to Mrs. She has not only her role as as principal, but just filled a a variety of roles for us over the last 20-ish years or so. Uh she was one of my somewhat early hires as a middle school principal years ago and I had known her prior to that and then she had done just a few other things in life prior to starting her teaching career but uh uh you could just tell right from the start that she she's the individual you want working with your kids we want working with
our families and and again that has continued. So, uh, yeah, very disappointed to see her go, but wish her the best of luck and, uh, I I did my due diligence and arm twisting in an appropriate amount of way to, uh, uh, hopefully I didn't over bother her with that, but we're happy for her and the transition she's going to make and wish her the best and um, the future is the future and we'll see what happens down the road. So, uh, but just wanted to again publicly thank her for her service, not just for the last few years as principal, but all the kids that you have impacted in our community for for 20 years plus, and and we'll continue to do so in new ways. Thank you. >> All right. Is there a
motion to um to accept the consent agenda? >> I'll make that motion. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Opposed? Okay. Motion carries. Um, next we have administration administrator reports um for the elementary Mr. Riley. >> Well, that's a hard moment to follow Mrs. Ish, but if I could just say I also appreciate you so much. Um, whenever she got hired as a middle school principal, I was a middle school teacher at that point and I can tell you that working for her and beside her, um, she's truly a blessing to this this community and we appreciate you. that um from the elementary side handful of things here. We did just uh go through our first round of I read testing for the year with our second and our third graders. Um so just
as a reminder uh last year uh it became statewide practice that second graders take the I read test as well. If they pass they're good. They don't have to take it for third grade. Um which last year we had quite a few second graders that passed. So um it was a smaller group for third grade this year. Um our third graders that did not pass uh we did have a group of them. um they have two more opportunities this school year. So, uh we've actually started immediately. In fact, that's uh part of what uh Mrs. Mcola and Mrs. Daroo and Mrs. Duba and um the third grade teachers are looking at that data and reviewing which students need targeted interventions so that we can start that as soon as possible for them. Um we did
that last year um and ended up with a 94% um pass rate on the I read which is was very solid. So, we're very excited about that. So, um, working on that already to make sure we get those students all the support they need there. Um, an additional note on that, um, as a reminder, last year the state started using the parent portal for those test results. So, parents can get on there and access, um, and get a little deeper look at what those test results are. Um, on a similar note, uh, we've, uh, just started in some of the classes taking the iLearn checkpoint 3. Um, so I was talking with a couple of fourth grade teachers today that were already digging into the data on that. Um, so that's a great practice for
us to have an idea of what we need to work on as we prepare for the iLearn next month. Um, so we've got some teachers that are looking into that and uh, um, we're excited for the work that they're doing there. Standardized testing isn't always the most fun thing, but hey, uh, doing that data review to make sure our students are set up for success is what makes it worth it. So, uh, quick note on the jet cart. I do want to say thank you guys for your time this morning to listen to our fifth grade students. U, they spent a lot of time preparing for that. Um, I want to say thank you to Mrs. Rhyr for helping to support them through that process. But this really was a student-ledd initiative. Um I can't
tell you the amount of times I walked by during a lunchtime. They're doing working lunches preparing this idea, preparing their proposals, preparing their speeches. Um and they really just put a lot of effort into it and I know it was really cool for them to to get to speak to you guys this morning. So, thank you for that. Um the last thing I wanted to share, um just kind of a neat thing. Um, you know, we get we got a lot of awesome educators down in uh the elementary and uh one kind of unique group is our specials teachers. And I want to give them a shout out that uh this past month while the Winter Olympics were going on um Lesie King decided to kind of spearhead a joint um effort among all the
specials classes to teach the kids more about the Winter Olympics. Um it started with her lessons where uh she was teaching them about Olympic fanfare, the you know the Olympic song that we all know but we don't know the name of. Um, and they she was teaching them about uh John Williams who composed it and what composers are and it was just a super lesson. Well, that actually extended into the other specials classes as well. Uh, where Mr. Richie had them doing variations of different winter sports. Um, I've never imagined I'd see a group of fourth graders get like ridiculously excited over curling, >> but by golly, they loved it. So, they had the little scooter carts and they were Oh, it was awesome. It was super fun. Um, and that extended across all the
specials classes. is I saw some fourth and fifth graders wearing some Olympic medals. They made an art class um that they were they were super excited to to show off. So um I appreciate them the work that they put in on that. And it actually culminated um in the end of that second week uh where they we had an event in the hanger um that again had some fifth grade students that led it. Um they showed a PowerPoint that had a bunch of pictures and stuff from the different things going on in the classes um just so people could see uh kind of the collective and see what the other grade levels were doing. um had a little hockey uh shootout challenge out there. And of course, if you've ever been to the uh VIP
day program that we have, we had to end it with the most catchy patriotic song we could of This Is America. Um and the kids had a blast. Um they learned a whole lot hearing kids talking about luge and curling and you know the the composition of music. It was just it was awesome to see that connected learning for them. So just wanted to give them a shout out for that. >> Thank you. >> All right, Mrs. middle school and high school. >> Well, the recognition's kind of showed um how busy part of this school year's been, but now we're transitioning to spring. Um last week, actually a week ago today, we had our SAT school day for our juniors. Um we did have a little bit of trouble. About twothirds of them, would you
say, were able to get on no problem. Maybe that last third. Um we struggled. Not our issue. This is a a college board connectivity issue. We got them all tested on Thursday. Took good care of them in between. Um, so we got that all worked out. We're doing um checkpoints for the third one as well. Working on making sure we're ready for that summit of I learn coming up here in April and May. Um, the master schedule, so looking at that big um what everybody's going to teach and what order and the student schedules is [clears throat] being built currently. Um, it's a pretty big undertaking to go from course requests, right? What students want to take to building this master schedule that gets all of these classes in the right order for as many
students as possible. Um, and so we've got working on that most of today. >> Yeah. I mean, we we did our first build today, so that was exciting. So, we're we're ahead of schedule. So, >> what was your percent? >> Oh, we're we're still looking through our our question is how many errors? [laughter] >> Oh, that's good. >> At some point, they hit a button, correct me if I tell you what percentage of students are fully scheduled. And on your first push, what are you hoping for before you start working? >> Honestly, 60%. um just because our ice population kind of um >> you know skewed those numbers a bit but >> well when you're talking to somebody at lunch and they say oh we only had like 137 errors we're doing great you know
how complicated this is and that's true I mean that is great like that was better I think than we've ever done >> um so it's it's a job but they are like they said ahead of schedule >> y um so amazingly quarter 3 ends tomorrow so we're going to be into the fourth quarter here by the end of the week. Um, we want to recognize FFA and all the work that they did last week. If anyone was here and saw the petting zoo and all of their activities, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Colehagen, and then, um, their FFA crew do an amazing job. It's just so neat to have people come in and and see the petting zoo and all that they do. So, we want to recognize them. BPA state was had just happened. Actually, they
just got back and we have 12 people who are going to nationals who qualified for nationals and that is a new school record. Before that, it was 10. So, we beat our old school record there. So, congratulations to those students. We'll recognize them here um probably in April, they whenever um we get those names and everything in order. And then we also want to recognize our musicals this week. So, we've got Thursday, Friday, Saturday that we will be showing on the musical Greece. And so, we'd want to welcome everyone to come and attend that as well. >> Thank you. >> All right, moving on. I Mr. McDonald, I know I saw you here and I didn't know if you wanted to add anything tonight. >> Okay. All right. [laughter] Well, I just want to give
you the opportunity. [clears throat] >> Thank you. >> All right. Mr. McCclar. >> Yeah. So, just uh a few things to kind of keep on the radar. Number one, uh as Mr. Just said, third quarter is ending, which means we're just a couple of weeks away, a week and a half or so from spring break. So, I'm sure uh most folks are excited about that. no matter what their plans are, a little bit of time off and then uh typically after that it's it's downhill from there. It's a rush through the spring, particularly for high school, middle school kids that are involved in spring sports seasons and even elementary kids who uh start having some some activities, spring activities uh uh locally becomes a pretty busy time, but we're we're to that point. Um kind
of tied into that, I wanted to and I think I've kind of kept you informed. Everybody's very well aware that we went through a little bit of a patch of bad weather back in late January, early February. Um, I had submitted an application for a potential waiver day. We did have that request granted, but as I have communicated right now, our last day of school originally uh was on May 28th uh when we missed one of those days in early February. We ended up just it was a Wednesday. We just took the day off which bumped our last day of school to May 29th. Uh my recommendation again right now and my role is that we're going to hold that May 29th. I want to make that a little more formal. That will be our
last day of school. Um and also knowing that we we are getting just a little bit past even Indiana where you would expect massive snowfall like we had late January that could interrupt us for 2, three, four days at a time. Uh but to some extent um I I think we will hold tight to that May 29th as our last day if we would happen to have some bad luck weatherwise. Uh we do kind of have a day right now where we would have the ability to to make that decision uh to not make an additional day up. I'll just say that'll be kind of dictate us doing that. We will continue on missed days of school to use synchronous learning. Um, but if we would miss multiple days in a row, if we would
miss a date at some point after testing was done, uh, again, something strange comes up that causes us to miss a day, um, we would have some flexibility, uh, to to miss a day and still use May 29th as our last day. So, just for planning purposes, for students, for families, um, for staff members, uh, anticipate that and Mrs. support. We'll want to work pretty quickly here on getting that officially on our website that May 28th we anticipate being the last day. And barring some sort of something you just almost can't predict, I think that will will be our last day. Um the event that we miss due to fog or late season snow, we we continue to utilize synchronous days to kind of be certain we don't go into that following week. So, does
anybody have any questions in regard to that? >> May 29th, right? May 29th will be the last day of school, which is a Friday. >> Um, >> yes. >> Only question I have is um with uh Bible school and with teacher last day. How does that all affect? >> So again, I I'll say my tenative plan and I'll just say this publicly. So our teachers, as you know, our staff members have a half day additional to work at the end of the year. My tenative plan is on that Friday that that staff workday will become 3:15 to 7:00 on Friday evening. That'll be our primary time that we do that. Um, knowing that it's a Friday evening, there could be some conflicts for staff. Uh, I think we will also give them the ability to
make that half day up, whether that's over the weekend, early the following week. I don't remember the detail. I know a few years ago we had something similar happen with that staff workday. I don't even remember the circumstance. if you might that uh if you cannot stay or choose not to stay on Friday night, we would probably have our staff just sign something to verify what hours they were working in the building. Uh because bottom line, they just have those end of year things, final grades to get to the guidance office to to to work on rooms cleaned out. So that'll be the tenative that those that want to will be able to just finish up Friday evening and then uh be on summer vacation. If that just does not work, they'll have the option
to complete that over the weekend or potentially the following Monday. So, I do think the the local Bible school uh schedule to start on Monday, and I know we do sometimes have some staff. So, they'll be able to take care of that before Monday. That will not at all be a requirement that they be here on the Monday. So, um I'll work with ACT and we'll kind of confirm what maybe some of those makeup options are if uh the after school on Friday doesn't work. So, it'll essentially be like they're staying like they would on a parent teacher conference night is the primary option with some flexibility. Any other questions on that particular day? Um, another thing just to to kind of keep in front of you, uh, the Mr. Jeff Solner was here at
a couple of board meetings in November, December. Um, he has not been back here yet, but that process is continuing to roll. Um, uh, working through it. I know the second time he was here, uh, as compared to the original time. kind of discovering it's probably better and easier a little bit to work through potentially getting that jet and memorial put out in front of the school if it's actually if the school corporation ourselves are not the requesting agency. I think right now he's also working with the town of [clears throat] Monroe and I don't certainly wouldn't want to speak for the Monroe Town Council but I know they have been receptive to that discussion continuing to work through that. Um at this point I think eventually and Audre feel free to add anything. I
know one of the things we have to do a little work on is is eventually the land that that is going to sit on. Again, the tenative discussion, nothing finalized yet, would be that we would be putting something up out on the south side of the school. Whether you refer to that as the front of the school or the back of the school might depend on how old you are. Um but that and again working with the town knowing where uh the property lines fall, how far are we off the highway, what's going to be impacted by future uh expansion of the the highway running through town, continue to work through some of those details. But eventually at this point, I'm thinking at the end of the day, the primary thing that we will end
up doing or asking you to do as a board when the project gets to that point, and again, Otter, feel free to jump in, is the potential that we would be leasing the land potentially to the town of Monroe to put this on. And that would be something Audrey would work through with the attorney for the for the town of Monroe um and all the details that need to go into that. So, that process continues to kind of wheels are turning behind the scenes. Nothing specific yet that we need to do for that. Um, but again, still excited for that project. And again, tied into that, I see us having some kind of a uh some sort of a veterans memorial uh out in front of the school, which I think will be just be
a really neat thing for our community to to have that. So, that's just a slight update on that. Um, had an opportunity last week, Mrs. Accord and myself met with uh our Niola representative. is the group that we work with to make sure our board policy manual is up to date that is actually running through board docs. So there's a little bit of a transition and Debbie if I don't say this correct feel free to jump in. Board Docs is actually like a third-party company that kind of contracts with Neiola. There's there's just a few issues with how board docs itself actually operates to be able to get on make revisions and there has been some discussion kind of around the state of a potential transition to something called diligent if I'm saying that right
which there was a potential concern of what that was going to do to our cost uh to be part of that. Um, however, in meeting last week with Arnola representative, I think maybe one thing that kind of got lost in the transition of me being new in this role, the transition that's occurred, there was some information put out last year, uh, that is not going to be a requirement. Arola rep kind of assured us that basically for how we are utilizing it, there's not really going to be a need to make that transition. So, we should not see any further cost. Debbie, did I do that justice in my description? Um, also just as part of that, uh, the the guys that work for Neol, a lot of them are former superintendent. So, we did
we had some discussion just given in some of our policies. I know one of the things that came out of that, we have a lot of places in our policy manual that refers to having administrative guidelines. Um, that is one thing that just I have on my radar to start working through. Okay, which policies reference administrative guidelines? Do we need to have those administrative guidelines? So, just know that that is something um that just will be kind of an ongoing project as I look at our policy manual or there are there's certain things that we need to make sure we have those in place. And again, maybe we do, maybe we don't on on certain items. It's just something that I want to make sure that I have in front of me to kind of
be to be working through. And I guess the last thing I would have is just uh I will have an opportunity tomorrow morning to meet with our high school middle school staff. And again, uh unfortunately, you did accept Mrs. Hish's resignation. So, uh, we will have a search process to start here in the near future. So, I'm going to meet with our high school, middle school teachers tomorrow morning for a few minutes at the beginning of professional development and just kind of start giving them the beginnings of the timeline that we hope to do, what the process will be for that. And then we had an opportunity to discuss some of those things this afternoon that I'll that I'll share with them uh tomorrow morning as far as the process and and looking for how
we're going to uh structure and and place in our administrative on the high school middle school end of the building. So, look forward to going through that process. And again, big shoes to fill. But, uh, as Mrs. said, I think we have a a great place here that hopefully be attractive to some high-quality candidates and that, uh, uh, couple months down the road, hopefully we'll be, uh, going the opposite direction and making approval for that process. So, we'll keep you posted on that and, uh, I'll work with the the staff as we go through that. So, that is what I have. >> Okay. Uh, does anyone else have anything that they would like to add or any questions? >> All right. Is there a motion to adjurnn the meeting? >> I'll make that motion. >>
A second. >> All in favor? >> Opposed? All right. Motion carries. And our next meeting will be Tuesday, April 14th at our normal 7 o'clock. Thank
