and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you for this school year. We pray that you will stay with us through our decisions and help us to make what is best for our community and our students and our staff. In the name we pray. Amen. [Music] All right. So, this is our pre-atification CBA meeting and we need to have an approval of the agenda. Is there a motion to approve the agenda? >> I'll make that motion. I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Opposed? >> Motion carries. Um, next we have our public comment on the teacher contract. So I've not seen anyone here for public comment. I don't think. All righty. So we can
adjourn if we have a motion. I'll make the motion. Second. >> All in favor? >> Opposed. >> Okay. Motion carries and we'll look for approval of that at our November board meeting. Okay. Next is our special session. Um, we do have we had an addition there of our approval of our resignation that we added in there. So, um, everyone can see that in red. So, we need a motion to approve this agenda. >> I'll make a motion. I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Opposed. Okay. Motion carries. And I also do not think I see anyone here for public comment tonight. Okay. And next we have our approval of our resignation. You all should have seen that letter we received from Mr. Mccclure. Uh long time Mr. Mccclure. We thank you so much for for
serving as our coach for all those years and appreciate you very much but also looking forward to you in a different role at school. So all right, any questions or comments? Okay, we need a motion to accept the resignation of Mr. Mccclure >> as basketball coach. >> All the >> Thanks for clarifying that. >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second it. >> All in favor? >> Opposed? Okay, motion carries. Uh, next we have our approval to hire our new basketball coach, Mr. Casey Adams. And uh I Mr. Mccclure, would you like to share some things from the committee? >> I had a second to uh process that last approval. >> Bittersweet, my man. It's bittersweet. >> It is. It's been a long time. So, I've had a chance to start packing some things up
and you start have a stack of scouting reports that high that I estimated about 8,000 hours at. So, anyway, over 24 years, but just that part of it. But, uh anyway, it is an honor. First off, I would just like to say thank you to the board uh previous administrations for allowing me to be your basketball coach for for 24 seasons. That's a long time. Um obviously we've had some great times in there, some ups and downs as far as maybe winning and losing, but uh whether we have uh been winning on the board or winning in some of the areas that I really feel are important. Just been an honor for 24 years. uh all the young men that I've had a chance to coach uh all the way through high school and many
others that participated maybe when they were younger in our junior Jeff program in middle school that didn't end up uh playing in high school. It just uh it's obviously a K12 setting here at Adam Central and uh uh just a real honor to have that um for a long time. So saying that, thank you again uh for all your rules and that and and especially I want to I mentioned in the letter but uh Um maybe just a special thank you to coach Minnik uh who's meant a lot to me over the years and would have originally hired me and uh just uh what he has meant to me and I really uh really appreciate that. So that being said uh we did have them as a result of that we are recommending the hiring
of Mr. Casey Adams tonight. So, you got a I think all got a pretty detailed uh kind of a description of that process, but uh bottom line, we had eight or nine applicants uh for that position. I don't remember the exact number. I mean, you can probably tell, you know, we got a couple that maybe kind of showed up that were maybe just kind of random applications and things like that, but uh narrowed that down. We ended up actually interviewing uh three candidates. Uh that interview committee was made up of myself, um Mr. McCall, our athletic director, Katie, our high school principal, uh Candy Stzman, who you know is our athletic secretary, and also we had a parent, uh Tyler Gills, who has two boys that are playing in the high school program right now,
freshman and sophomore. So, we included him, uh in that interview process as well. Uh Casey, uh was the one that uh kind of came to stand out as a result of that. Uh obviously, we I have known him briefly through the years. I would say we've had some conversations over the years. his his primary background in coaching has been he's he's been the director of several different I guess you call him travelbased in the old days we call it AAOU technically it's not amateur athletic union anymore but uh uh through the original days gym rats program more recently here and still involved with the team focus program uh that we have had an opportunity to have some of our players play for some of our especially a couple of our kids who are currently playing
uh college basketball play for Casey or within his program um and one of the things as a high school coach when you have your kids going out to play uh travel basketball there there's a lot of different ways that those things can be run uh just as it is in any travel-based sport uh doesn't always maybe necessarily meet the goals of what a high school program would be looking for and their kids to try to improve and one thing uh in talking with Casey over the years and just our kids playing for him and when my own son was playing travel ball and we would play against team focused teams you know I'm not trying to make a pun but these are teams that were focused And that's not always the case uh with travelbased
teams. They were running things as much as you can in that setting uh as a coach like you like a high school coach like to see that be ran. So that's one thing I always appreciated about the team focus program and knowing Casey individually. He also has some experience as a high school varsity coach in Michigan, Cold Water Michigan. Took me a minute to figure out that was Cold Water Michigan, not Cold Water Ohio because we do some things with Cold Water Ohio. But uh um it's just been a a privilege kind of getting to know him. um you know, as we made our due diligence and reference calls, one of the things that uh um kept coming up was just his love for the game and now he would just really work hard for
the kids and that he would be able to step right in and take kind of things over. Uh obviously going to be probably ran a little differently than maybe what I did and that's fine. That's a new personality, new person coming in. Uh but as far as being able to jump right in literally six days from now when practice starts and uh maybe depending on how some of our fall sports play out the uh we'll have us at least a scrimmage in two and a half weeks. Not yet sure when our first game might end up being. But uh he's going to have to scramble here a little bit to get ready uh for a first ball game and just all the challenges that go along with that. But uh it's an honor on behalf
of our interview committee on behalf of the administration to recommend Mr. Casey Adams to be our new varsity boys basketball coach. obviously something that I'm fully invested in and I'm excited for him to to take that over and hopefully keep things rolling. >> Board, do you have any questions or comments? >> Okay. All right. Then we'll need a motion to approve Mr. Casey Adams as our new basketball coach. >> I'll make that motion. >> All in favor? >> I opposed. Motion carries. Welcome. Would you like to say anything? You're welcome to if you want to. >> It's uh it's a little overwhelming. Like coach said, we got six days, but thank you all. Um the one thing that really impressed me about putting my name in the hat for this was the little I have
known of Coach Mccclure and some of the players that I've had the opportunity to be part of. I know there's passion and I know there's leadership, not only Coach Mccclure, but in the the leadership of the school and and the board. Um, I think I threw some challenging questions myself at at the interview process cuz I wanted to make sure that there was strong leadership and that's important to me and I think I like strong leadership to hold me accountable and and vice versa for everybody. I think that makes a healthy environment. So, thank you for those opportunities. Thanks for giving me the chance. Um, I hope to live up to the expectations and the what coach Mccclure has established over 24 years of success and um, you know, the kids the kids bought in,
the kids love playing for him. At least the the two recent ones that I've got the chance to get really close to and understand what what's because it's not like that anywhere and it's not like that to where a coach can put 24 years in and be also be passionate about it. Sometimes it's just checking the box. So, that's important to me. I have a full-time job, um, a good career. Um, but basketball is what I love and it's my passion to impact young people, become great adults later. So, that's my main focus. That's what I promise to give you. Um, please don't ever hesitate to pull me aside or call me or say, "Hey, I didn't like that." Or, "Hey, I like that." Um, I like to be honest and transparent. I'm not going
to be perfect, but I'll do my best to to deliver what this school set could do for their student athletes. Thank you. >> Thank you. I appreciate that. >> All right. Uh we need the motion to adjourn. >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> Opposed? Okay. Motion carries. Uh next meeting. Oh, is it November 11th, I believe? Okay. Yeah. 7 PM. Correct, everyone? >> Yep. Back to regular time. >> Regular time. Thank you. Okay.
