001uh everyone's a great holidays Allegiance of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God the indivisible with liberty and justice for all um thank you we do not have any cards thank you item six is the elections um so this is something that you do every two or we have done every two years so that you'll need to make the decisions during a motion if it's for one year two year traditionally or historically it's always been for Tuesday and um there's just a discussion amongst you all and the emotions that is made for by one person to basically see if another person wants to pick on the role we do president first and then vice president and if I can just say something real quick learn

002there's you're just not going to talk about one year still just thinking after that so if I if I have any influence on that I would remember yes [Music] no [Music] um all right motion for a vice president um the way that I think it would work is foreign yes sir thank you all in favor [Music] now um I believe that the motion was for a two-year in you said in that motion that it was for two years the only other thing is and you can stay right where you're at but historically the president for the vice president on the right-hand side so if you want to stay where you're at you can't or you can move over to um cities right [Music] oh girls [Music] so you're you've got your picture taken today they'll

003be updated in the hallway so you know you'll be up in the hallway with your pictures and um office it was really good thank you thank you for having me next up is item 7A and we're going to be talking about our strategic planning process for the presentation no I do want to say Julie is a former board member first yes and then once she did her service with asba she became an employee of asbd so she has been in your gym so she knows where where you are coming from just so that yeah thank you I've always been out of your chair for 12 days um I like to refer to myself now as you recovering um thank you so much for having me um I am um Association and um foreign [Music] okay

004um so we'll go over a few things I don't want to take a ton of your time because I know that you have a meeting of a long meeting head but I wanted to kind of go through a whole what what the point of the Strategic plan is what the what the stages are um what the anatomy of it would look like um just to have a sense and you're discussing whether you're going to go into the barn audience um whether it's something um you have a baseline understanding about and um as we will look happy to facilitating that process [Music] this is where you want to go this is where you want to be it's your roadmap to the goals that you set for yourself so in the right Clarity what is important to

005you as a as a school board as a district and as a community um this is what brings us together what brings you together what are the forces that you might do or the issues that gives you Direction and it gives you focus and then it also allows you to have accountability for Student Success um achieving all that they can um so the next one um excuse me thank you um so one of the things that we would do right in the beginning is talk about your vision mission and your core values so if those are defined then and you want to stick with them then we would go ahead and do that if the immediate it we can talk about that if you want to redo it completely different talk about that as well

006um but those that's really the starting point of where we want to go then we'll then we'll go ahead and get some data that we can analyze um and look at sorry um and then if Dana will play a huge role in the way that you look at um what your areas of focus are so I'm going to give you a brief overview of kind of what the search engine plan you can look like the anatomy is plan so what we would do is we would use data that we would download it from Community from in-house equal to external stakeholders from your business Community from your faith communities everybody who's involved in the education of students um and we would do a few things one is we would find some areas of focus and these

007are just examples that are up there this does not have to be more areas of focused but you can focus in on climate culture academic success [Music] if you're going to write goals that have to be smart goals so they would have to be specific measurable maintainable relevant these are not Sparkles these are just meant to give you kind of a sense of what I'm talking about and then once you decide what your goals are you would look at okay we have to have some objectives or tactics of the way we're going to get there so if you're looking at the recruit entertaining effective teachers an objective might be create a new teacher dimensional program if you're looking at including student achievement you might Implement professional learnings so there's different ways that you can do

008it um then you would really get into the nitty-gritty what do we have to do to create this program or what do we have to do to implement this curriculum so there's lots of things that you'll look at the tasks are and we'll look at Google professors and then your your job will be to look after you set some goals use Divine your objectives if you've had some tasks where are you at and so the board's job is dedicated to come back around you know really frequently to say okay where are we at how are we progressing and what do we need to do from the board perspective to make this strategic plan successful so let's look at the next slide where we kind of have this board authority and superintendent Authority so the boards

009of authority is oversight you're at that you know 30 000 foot level you were doing um expectations you say parameters you can provide structure or um your employees or students superintendent's Authority is really that operational the implementation of things so we like this bracket because it kind of talks about a document goals your policies developing plans implementing them of marketing progressing results and you'll see that dotted line in there in the two arrows that's because there always should be a communication between the board and the superintendo board that's a two-day communication cycle so and that wouldn't change in a strategic plan that would be the same kind of you would want to have constant community so sometimes if what does the board do what does the administration do so I wanted to kind of go

010through that hopefully as well in terms of the anatomy so as far as the areas of focus the border wall is to identify those areas with so that would be your superintendent whatever cabinet level people you have whoever your leadership is the administration is what would be to provide that data and then assist you with identifying things and you don't want to have input from the people on the ground either your work so it won't just be your feedback it will be feedback from your community your staff students students are a good way to also get really good feedback about what the Strategic plan should look like we find that we have students involved in one that I didn't when I was at the court in Paradise Valley sometimes they would say something like oh

011my gosh that they really know what they're talking about um so I would encourage that as well what's your goals to the board role would be with Administration to assist with the development of goals and the administration would be with the board to help the goals so the goal development really does you would probably get a rough draft to put those goals might look like and then have some feedback in the conversations Administration on those goals and that is one that's one place and our division and Mission is so the objectives navigating to the point where you're kind of getting deeper right getting closer into the work that needs to be done so you would try to be back on objective so your Administration would go out to the employees ask for objectives given the

012goals that they have and then you would give feedback on that so um bring you those objectives and you might have some thoughts on that that they might take back and utilize the tasks that you have is really that's that's where the board's not really that now because this is operational okay this is what we're doing departments or um in the school district every day so you can provide feedback as needed and as is appropriate um but the administration's goal is to make sure those tasks get done and make sure that they're completed so whether that's superintendent or principal or a director or assistant [Music] and then for outcomes the board's job really is to review frequently the progress the results provided feedback and then also look at resources so if you have a goal

013and you need the feedback from your community as we don't have enough professional development in this particular area to make this goal reasonably the word could then say okay let's look at what can we do from a policy perspective from a budget perspective to give the resources that are needed for your employees to be able to achieve the outcomes that you want them to achieve and then the administration's votes for my data on the progress recommendations moving forward that's where some of those recommendations might come for what are you need to make this goal what do we need to be effective and so then on the next slide we kind of put up um some planning teams and throughout the process and you'll see in the next slide after this one I'm not ready for

014yet but um where these teams come in so the first team is a strategic oversight team um and that would be the board superintendent and whomever in the administration of the district so smaller group leadership people who have been influence the impact on policy um [Music] whether it's students whether it's your certified staff your classified staff it could be business members from the business Community your Bay Community as I said before parents so there's lots of people that you think um utilize in that stakeholder groups represent the um the group that they belong to so that would be for guidance and communication um and movement as you're going through the process and then finally the project teams and this is this could be one person it could be a small group it might be a

015department but their purpose would be to identify the tasks and complete them so whenever you decide you need to do to get to your stated goal these folks would be the ones who would help you figure out what that is [Music] and so the teacher would say okay here's what I think I need to do with this class this could be very very specific to what you're saying yes rather than a larger absolutely absolutely so this is when we're really taking damage um once that happens then you have that producer so how's it going what have we done able to a closer yeah um so this is kind of a framework that um we would follow to do the Strategic plan um pre-planning and phase one with the core team that's kind of that'll be

016similar um tasks in there but with different people kind of talking about lots of different things in there but we would look at we might do um you look at your vision your mission um look for beliefs you would do a SWOT analysis so unfortunately this is opportunity spreads with both the oversight team and the 14. so that you get a much broader Vision or view of what what people think your opportunities are and then we look at a lot of data in this position foreign [Music] this is what we want our students to look like the Navy our schools we want them here here are the skills you want them to have here's what we want them to be um so you have one from Mesa Public Schools and you have one from TV

017where Mississippi this is where you get a sense of what do you want to accomplish who is our student and what are they what do we want them to have skills with baby husks we would work on that um knowing who you'd want them to be that allows us to say how do we get there what are we going to do to get to that point um and so that would be part of the needs assessment and that would be both poor and project teams we were looking at um surveys you'd be looking at doing interviews you focus groups and there's lots of different ways that we can get information and that needs assessment to decide what and then we work on goal development we would identify objectives you would adopt the plan and in

018that Basics strategic plan and an implementation timelines appetite dates and controls and targets [Music] that would be the the Strategic team the soccer team the oversight I like oversight better I might change um the oversight scheme to be looking at okay where are we what are we doing how foreign the association so with that I'm on the next slide I want to thank you but I also want to see if you have any questions you tell me we're ready to go when you are um yeah so I think and I don't know what the plan is but I think you'll have to vote on this system but um we are open to students whoever lives I don't know I mean you know why it's going to take your baby or whatever should we get through

019all of the process but there'll be plenty to do along the way not necessarily for a few times but for the rest of the District administration and um after we're done you'll really have a good idea of where you're going I can tell you that lots of districts that I work with use a strategic plan almost every time they meet when they talk about things on their agenda and that we're doing this because it's kind of our plan and here's where it's part of your plan and we want to articulate with you the reason that we're spending this money or the reason that we're adopting this program whatever it may be or this position right you decide to make a position um so I think it really does give you a really good road map

020to be actually so in this little teachers also yes they're probably not going to be coming up again because it might give a little bit more work um yeah and I think it just gives them um an idea of where what the board's priorities are and what the district's goals are and really is clear on how very about that so I know my daughter teaches in the district that I was on when she saw our strategic now it's something for a year it's like oh no I think about it when I'm thinking about okay you know what are we looking at what is School sites which you didn't plan based on what the district is so I think it does give them um some data that helps them okay and the left side well you're

021right that's wonderful thank you so much and my card is in your folder um [Music] from State hello I am excited tonight to introduce you to our counselor um [Music] and so we are very pleased because yes um [Music] this is from the American school council Association and this is um what I follow and this is what they see their wallet excuse me interpersonal skills um the counselors plan for a secondary options higher education um Direction foreign like four to six times um generally a teacher has um referred a student to me or parents I'm looking at their meeting and if a student needs me more than that I would prefer them out for more kinds of types yes um I didn't want it so as a teacher I feel that the student needs to

022just come to the break um strategies in classrooms with entire classrooms maybe something to happen in the classroom of folks in the community and feel better about the situation that's happening to you Thanos and they also provide positive behavioral strategies for our teachers to um um if I provide advocacy for students at student center community so I'm frequently at IEP meetings or any other type of YouTubers I am also the final four coordinator um I also provide College our students I'll use my future easy which is um the Arizona um the Department of Education suggestions website that we use for students to kind of things about their pictures so we have those accounts college and career opportunities research different types of jobs things like that and in the Middle School level it's just at the

023very beginning they go to high school they sell deeper into that but at the beginning they're just sort of kind of looking at ideas and I also play the schedule assemblies to support healthy choices this year we've had three assemblies the last one is coming up next month but we've had a suicide prevention assembly we've done a vaginess presentation for parents parents and um they partnered with them and they come and they provide a community so next to slides your data because we all love data right so um this is my last year school data um I had um 255 block-ins and that includes students that just walked in or we requested to see me and then I called them out of class 283 individual accounting sessions and we did 10 new sort of circles

024and next slide shows uh just this year's first semester data um we've already had 169 markets semester um 130 individual accounting sessions and those are once a week like I said um and they rotate hit them out after you're four to six weeks um and if you see we have more restorative circles we've done 15 already this year because the board is out and the students enjoy it honestly they become an opportunity to speak their mind and mediate a situation that may have happened that could have turned into something on more and students now coming asking for singles sometimes teachers ask for them so that is so the next slide if you go ahead and click on the link that is um web page so this the first um a screen shows my request to

025be with Mrs dollar there's two Google forms one on the left is for students um the students have access to this in their classroom they can also come to the library they can fill that out it comes right to me in an email and then also um it helps me collect your data because it goes if you all know about um Google forms it creates a spreadsheet right away so I have all my data in here we're seeing that day [Music] also parent and Guardians can request to leave this week um obviously they can also call me my my email and my phone number is also on stage but if they can also fill this out I don't have as many parents to use this but they're always welcome to fill it out I'll get

026a email to me right away that they want to talk to me and I'll call them or email them they don't have to go through everything but the top at the top um I just have resources for families um I have advice for the activities for teachers to do with students advisory um there's lots of information yeah thank goodness foreign [Music] um providing that program which I think is fantastic which may be your greatest single Greatest Show man unfortunate that we have many carries that number at Heritage Middle School who also support and help students my office is in the library so I do get some help and support in there the behavior coaches and American Social librarian obviously and if I'm not there you know they provide a safe place for students like that

027but um I said in school counselor that American school counselor Association says that you should have one school counselor for 250 students it is um sometimes overwhelming but um you know other than that it's such a wonderful supportive staff and our kids are great for our families and our parents um you find the kids are struggling a little bit more maybe more emotional definitely been covered um depression things like that so for sure um I think just our world [Music] special we need more we need more support and need more healthy as well as we need more and out of the community it's just always for me for everyone um the answer is yes um that's where a lot of the circles come in um our policy is generally not to get involved if something

028was done at home and you know we could contact parents and say hey this is going on Instagram um you know you might need to you know check that out um but if it trickled into the school which it does um I do offer those circles where we can sit and talk about I do also um in a lot of my College and Career lessons like that we talk about social media and we appropriately said it and how you should be you know the best way is to talk to someone first before you treat it or Instagram or Facebook but you know we try our best um I don't do any of that because it is Middle School um so I haven't yet partnered with everyone students or just kind of touch on on those

029sorts of things um but it certainly is a possibility I think yeah yeah mostly I just go in and we talk um [Music] a little bit on the social media look your comments might be uh the effect of the development of our systems at that particular age it's it's um those students who have those um accounts uh it really does affect them they need to be monitored parents really need to know what their lives everything to know the supports that these social medias have a lot of them have ways to block ways to report um ways to uh you know help your child maneuver the world of the social media and I think that's so important for families to know because I think some students just there you go here's your phone Merry Christmas or

030you know whatever happy birthday and then they're just sort of you know set free and there are some at the middle school age they definitely need to have a boundaries set and um know that it's not the end of the world maybe something happens on social media that will pass but it also is there forever and you do need to you know be aware of the things that you put on there another sets too so I think it's really important to be you know it's really in the hands of regarding the parents and Guardians too at this age to monitor that pay close attention to what they're doing because if you're not what you have to be of their friends we love to know if you might not know that they're on that you know

031as a parent or Guardians you take that responsibility the tablet or whatever it is so do you think it has a negative effect on that energy I don't know I don't know that I can say that um what about the mental health yes definitely Mental Health social yes definitely social it can be a it could be a positive thing for academics you know use it the right way we teach students how to use um social media on the internet probably away you'll be a wonderful resource but definitely [Music] and you know my day we help on the phone we talked and talk face to face um there's a lot of kids who have relationships with other humans and that's something which is not going to go away right we have to help support them because

032or how much do you see I think we have a pretty great support at our school um in my experience is right home because I know that the parents are responsive and and will you know help their childhood like that so and I've had good experiences so far the ones that I you know had to encountered pretty good support I think there's just you know a lot of Education how they do it what do you mean so I think you just have to continue parents yeah absolutely you know the children can be assessed yeah those are definitely all things um thank you great items Seven Seas all right should be in there somewhere there we go um kicked off with enrollments we are up 38 ABM over last year there's a chart on the second

033of third page that kind of shows you where we're at compared for the last few years I anticipate we're going to kind of kick up again it seems like after the New Year we get changes in enrollment and at each remains and so I anticipate that same level or increasing a little bit it you can see that when I put it on there we're at age 76 so about three quarters to our 100th day which is the Benchmark for our ABM I want to give a little bit of time that they're in a corner of the board at the asba meeting so I just maybe a minute or two from each of you that plans and it was Mr Fogle and Miss Thomas and the snowboard that went through the ASB I don't know if

034there's anything that you wanted to share about what you saw or experienced or um sorry [Music] um one of the breakout sessions that I went to was presented by our own Cindy Daniels and it was about building Partnerships in rural communities we talked about the Education Foundation of allergies I knew everything she was talking about I'm going to tell you it was so engaging it was the best session I went to and I'm not just saying that it really was it was engaging it was thoughtful it was not provoking is fantastic thank you so much for representing our school as well as you can I do want to say she's been asked to do that same presentation that there's a whole rural schools Association conference as well I would just add this indeed if you

035were not just you were not a presenter you were an educator and that was with how you were different than most everyone else good teacher I'm a little risky I couldn't tell but yeah [Music] and our children living in it as they were even impressive you know they have more things available to our kids here is more [Music] accessible and depressive yes I think I go there to so the inspirational parts of the program the gentleman nonetheless in the past the United States did it for me they did that because it just did just that so it was good in that sense and then I think spending time to give you the support and then sort of building relationships with board members and other people in the profession I think that's how it's most useful

036to me I agree it was nice to be able to just talk to Mike and know that we're not really like struggling with that so we're not the only ones and yeah [Music] I think I learned a lot I can't remember everything I learned but um you know the different different workshops and different speakers [Music] um but sometimes I feel like oh really anyway so you know I know area but still um important [Music] yeah projects update so there's a list of 10 projects here I want to just pick out a few other teachers who are actually going to talk about later um the football field bathrooms are continuing and so we they started and they're starting to get you know we have Foundation I think gone in and I saw some Plumbing stubs out

037and all kinds of stuff going on with that so that's exciting I'll be with you this is a big deal like I want to go down there we need to have a bathroom yeah we travel all the way around yeah [Music] um we do have um the you actually Cindy will sign a terms and conditions for a East gym weatherization which is basically kind of seal up the East gym so that it doesn't leak there's also some addition work I think you guys are going to close up the windows or change out the glass block and some other stuff and then not on here but kind of related to The District AC project part of the AC project is to seal up the roofs and because of the fire that we had at the high

038school they had to separate out that building but there's a um a roofing project that you also will find for the weatherization which is filling up the roof at one of the buildings at the high school so you can get that back to a condition that can be occupied you know there's the other other projects on there uh aggregate expenditure limits um I met with Senator Bennett and representative peterelli who are the um the respective um Chambers uh chairs of their education committees and um I uh there was also an article in the Arizona Republic today that addressed this I think that the general consensus is that it will pass last minute So lately you know last year it was the last week in April or in February sorry has to be passed by March

0391st that seems to be the general consensus will work to make sure that that happens hopefully sooner rather than later but again and I was talking to somebody today about this the aggregate expenditure Linux limits the amount of money that all districts not Charters the school districts can't spend even though the money's in the account it doesn't mean you don't get the money it means you can't spend the money that you have the account and so that's that's what's um unfortunate there's also I think a positive move to try to put something on the 2024 ballot that would change that that would be the earliest that it would it could happen um it has to go to the vote of the people it's a change in the Constitution this is a special question you know

040then um so the idea is hopefully to kind of maybe do a waiver and then at the same time do a fix it would go as a referendum but we're gonna have to go through this again next year just because it's um intelligence that won't happen until November is I've made it clear it's very stressful it's not good for kids it's not good for staff when staff are worried about their jobs they're not teaching to the the ability that's been made clear to them this is a political issue and there's the local Capital as part of their boat and that's kind of what I think is driving this um you know there was supposed to be a special session a bunch of other stuff got piled on to it the special session didn't take place

041last November I you know all I can say is it's gonna be my job to be other super tennis jobs um you know the asba is part of this the ASA this is the school administrators we're all going to be working towards trying to get this taken care of because it's not it's not good for kids it's not good for staff it's not good for communities you know we're the largest employers 300 over 300 paychecks go out on a bi-weekly basis imagine if you have to take three million dollars we're over a billion dollars out of all right Arizona that that would be the economy so um anyway that's had a little and the other questions on the senator Journey keep you updated as best I can um I can say that uh you know

042Governor Hobbs needed a party for her although she has no voting it's all that you know she I think somebody said she could use her only but that's the extent of her involvement in this this is strictly two-thirds majority vote in both the house thank you any other questions uh hiring teachers just want to kind of let you know we're getting into that hiring season uh and Cindy and I were supposed to go to the U of H doctor we are wait listed on that we have two administrators going to the NAU job fair we have two administrators went to the ADT job fair which is a phoenix had takes over for the I guess she doesn't have one at least I know other people to the Phoenix doctor um so we're working hard we

043have we have administrators that that uh do a really good job in recruiting and so that's already started we've got openings we anticipate openings we'll talk about a plan that may create a lot of other openings uh and so we're working on that um as we as we go uh Capital lawsuit um I've been emailing you all about the kind of the the some some activity there the lawsuit trial was supposed to start on Monday two months ago the plaintiffs which the district is a link building that lawsuit along with three other districts and some people call them alphabet boots and education groups um two months ago they filed that type of group filed a motion saying to delay the trial to allow the incoming Governor or Administration time to evaluate philosophy since they were

044a dependent that was the ninth so they were supposed to start Monday last week um attorney general uh Hayes good to see almost identical motion that was approved so now it's in the lane 35 days a status conference that takes place in March to kind of identify things likely going to be a year out before anything happens the idea is the the governor's office the Administration has said we may be able to take care of this job so that may happen we'll see what was going on the school facilities board which is one of the main kind of the the I don't want to say culpits but the main reasons why the lawsuit took place is under the auspices of the governor it's um in the executive branch of the Arizona government so she the

045governor can make changes as she sees fit as long as it's legal and so those changes may take place and we'll kind of wait to see what goes on but um we it's been on hold our attorneys feel that it's a good thing and so we're just kind of going as is and I don't have to testify with something uh next we have the calendar and a couple dates and we'll talk about this but please put on your calendar February 22nd and 23rd at 4 45 we will have the principal candidate dinners one of the high school will be in the uh Colonial Arts room the one at the middle school will be in the cafeteria yes that's a Wednesday and Thursday so if you want to meet the case or have you meet the

046candidates otherwise but this is an opportunity for you to come I know that um a couple of you a couple of you participated last year uh and got to sit down with the the real principal candidates and kind of just get to know them a little bit so I don't have a free dinner and you'll get three to the internet you can be dinners this time [Music] okay so just make sure you put that on your calendar and there will be a community meet and greet afterwards if you can't make dinner um there'll be an opportunity for you to uh participate in that from six to seven at the respective numbers that's all I have for my report item 71 my financial reports foreign a quick look at the month in for December 31st of

0472022 the current fiscal year 50.4 of the year had gone or days ago 46 percent age our Capital One uh funded this one 23 spent that we've been bankrolling some money in our adjacent waste fund 620 for a couple projects we'll give you the teachers project and including the Del Rio parking Paving projects yeah a quick look at a couple of the funds any any comments or questions on the operating finder John what's the schedule at Del Rio Paving that's what it was supposed to be done before 100 so we did have a great great question you didn't have a slight window there back in October when the board awarded that and between say Mr chair of our facilities director is here between some miscommunications between our contractor in the city and other changes in

048the weather they decided to look at Spring break I guess right it's been architecturally resign it and that's what you don't want to pay for this kind of work yeah [Music] so uh is it under contract or still waiting for a date still it's under contract when uh basketball company and we also have a contract for uh architect design but it will happen right period yeah what what no one's willing to make a guarantee but yeah right now I know the planet has had its purchase order and his contract issued by the district and as a sub for the Paving contractor for about a month now and I have not got word that he's continued because there's quite a few little design issues how to use Russia District it's water issues yeah no it's just

049that a lot of that water as she flows off the property that's on the south side and goes over the road right and so they want us to they they want us to be able to direct it properly and away and so that that's where really the engineering is coming from back to the city since it hits our property we've got it [Music] did they continue but we'll definitely keep you updated contractors exactly the goal is here I think there's no questions I'd like to take a look at the cash fund balances which looks like cash funds it's a vertical page but from about six calls on it and all these are on the cash basis of fun 500 plus 515 our riders in October that it was to use 550 anymore we get almost

050three thousand dollars a month for the cell tower Revenue they want us to put all that in front of 500. it was actually going towards the benefit of itself called service it's not it's not quite like the pth steel renting a building there's a little bit closed down between 5-15 and we've moved all that cash flows in there over to you'll see that uh 527 pasta one with our preschool program yes they've got a little sister Grant I would call it at La Casa it's it's I think the first is 67 000. over a month so this year is going to go we've got the first payment and then Wisconsin um so you know is our Tino after school Advantage which is our um after school one year foreign designing those because they've got to

051have triple approvals that significant contract terms of conditions that they pay if we receive them report s just so you know that we don't have an activity by the count or which is what would you do next month I moved to um [Music] item nine a is our K5 literacy endorsement support and this is recently Arizona Department of Education and State Board of Education determined that all K5 teachers should have a literacy endorsement attitude certificate a way to obtain that is through two separate three credit courses um ones about the science of reading and work about literacy assessment construction and things like that so some of the teachers had that in the course of their preparation program we have a few teachers So reading endorsed already and new students graduated from University to all kinds

052of course so we do have staff going there with very kind of there's a highball on it if everybody needed the two courses um because it's something that is required for them and it benefits us we're making a recommendation that if they take it through Yavapai College of course when we have a passing grade we'll reimburse them we'll have so many materials and we see it as a way to support them encourage them we advertise rolling out the first course online and they're doing a big twice in the semester that they've compresses so we wanted to thank you and ask for your approvement without we see it as a way to support teachers because it seems like a very wise investment in a professional adults [Music] treatment yeah what we're looking at is we're thinking

053not the most you know for tuition costs but we're thinking like that's going to cost about 24 times this is an action item get a motion to approve I will make that motion for educational books for the two of my employers thank you item 9B um our hiring processary so um you know we had a had a good conversation at Eric did this afternoon going over the same information we do have two principles that are one's transferring and one is retired maybe transferred a little bit deeper in several but as a nurse but um you know that that's it's a I told the staff this is the most important job that me as a superintendent has is the higher principles and so we take it very seriously uh last year we did we got very

054lucky we're able to hire Dr Moody and we're using the uh very similar or exact same process to go through the the principal searches for for the high school at Middle School and what that will involve is uh we'll have a and I'll let um Cindy describe what the committee looks like but we'll have an interview committee it will do an interview process uh I will be with the committee at the beginning of the process like next week but when they actually do the interviews I will not be there um I do it one-on-one interview with the candidates and typically that is in my truck I drive around the community so that they understand what the community looks like uh from through the windshield it will also do a school tour so they'll be able

055to see the campus there's kids around they'll get it kind of hopefully at least a cursory feel of what the the atmosphere of the campus is like and then um they will go and they will have a after school they're all the candidates will be in the library to do a staffing degree we collect comment cards so the staff have input on that that time that they spend with them hopefully you guys will be able to have dinner with them after that once dinner's over and we'll go back to the library and do a community and that will all be publicized so that the community can come I need potential candidates so that's what the day looks like I'm going to pass it off the sentience you can share a little bit about the the

056committee work yeah the boardroom all day on Wednesday and on Thursday so what I did was during break I emailed Mrs Bryce and this wolf and asked them to support some potential recommendations for the committee and the committee's comprise the people who build certain roles in their school environment so it could be a perfect parents we have parents on the committee it could be classified employees the principles administrative assistants is that someone who works very closely with them an assistant principal if business in principal intends not to apply for either job um classified employees that someone who has the perspective of our classified employees certified employees someone from special education so in the high school's case we have an additional role which is someone to represent CTE since that's such an important part of our

057campus um the school will be sitting in on the Heritage process so she sees some of the ways that we've done things she begins to transition into her role as in HR but anyway that's the makeup of the community why they were designed that way on purpose to all participate I facilitate what the committee does so what we do is we start our day by talking about the good things at their campuses so it gives everybody a chance and even though they all know each other really well gives people a chance to you know break the ice and really start thinking about why they're probably like where they work and then we move into where would we like to see that particular School in four years and so and then I have that broken down

058in this is very specific categories for them like academics both culture facilities things like that so you have some very specific things that we look at so it's not just sort of a free fall on you know where we want to be in four years but that's really a guided process then the next thing that we do is we talk about we review different leadership qualities and you look at keywords and teachables the scriptures for those qualities to determine what vegetables qualities will help the next administrator be able to realize those goals so we're not just when we meet on interview today we don't go wow that guy had a really cute bow tie you know and um you know so we have certain things that we're looking for so it's a it's a precise

059process in order to help the people on the committee look for qualities in a candidate that will help them Envision where the school is going to go the next thing that we have lunch there you'll know that the next thing that we do go in the afternoon is work on refining interview questions that will help us Baron out those characteristics so we don't you know well it's nice to ask people what their hobbies are their hobby may or may not help us reach our goal as a campus so that's the process that we undertake as the selection committee one of the other things that I explain to folk and help them really absorb is that they're not making the decision because I want that weight off their shoulders as when you go back to campus

060as a peer you don't like if we hire a dud you know and everything like gosh I can't believe that's going to be picked you know or whatever or you don't want dissension if all the committee couldn't agree and because it's a sizable enough to me you know later on a lot people saying well I supported this person or I really wanted this other person so we've made it clear for the culture and the positivity on the campus that they're making observations they're making recommendations so on the interview date we'll take turns you know around Robin uh round robin and Matt whatever it is and asking the questions and then what we'll do is um after each interview we have a chance to kind of process what we've heard and if they they have their

061questions but they also have a guiding sheet for them as interviewers that list those characteristics so when they're listening to responses they're recording this response with this characteristic so at the end of the day they have a sheet with the names of the candidates they can write their comments There's an opportunity for them to rank order them and then all the notes that they made along with that sheet will be handed off to Mr Shull now it was interesting because they also have an opportunity to provide additional feedback based on the staff maintenance rate and the community meet and greet and I could tell you from experience not just with Mr Beauty's interview process but with lots of interviewing processes that I've read in the past they learn different things about the people in that

062scenario and we would encourage them to write on Parts um maybe that their Impressions have changed a little bit because some people interview exceptionally well but don't necessarily interact with the staff very well or there seems to be not much chemistry or they lose the enthusiasm after the sales pitch you know or whatever it may be and so we also give them opportunity at the end of the assassinate degree and at the end of the community meet and greet we all get together again for a few minutes and say is there anything more you would like to say is there anything you would like Mr Sheldon or is there anything that you would like to report differently for us at this point I've had people ask me may I have my rank order sheet back

063so I can change my range order for sure if that's important to you and you feel strongly about that absolute that's why the process so that is a physical on January 17th which is a week from two skills uh like most of the week now right Tuesday the high school committee will continue on Wednesday the middle school committee will Human Bean and then at the end of February so the 22nd we will interview for a high school on the 23rd for another year for Heritage so we're compressing it and I when I talked at Heritage today I talked about why are we like let's get this going right part of it is if everybody thinks it's hard to find teachers it's much much harder to find administrators I think if the you know the climate

064in our country hasn't convinced people that nobody wants this job over the last three or four years nothing's ever going to convince them of that right um it's been hard times for administrators and governing board members and hard decisions and difficult things and people think you know and I didn't share this at Heritage but I'll share it with you one of the things that we have noted is as teacher pay has increased it's close the gap significantly between what administrators make and teachers need teachers work 148 days a year the administrators were 33 more days some teachers have higher daily rates for the teachers and administrators they just make less annual salary because they work fewer days and and we have had people tell us that internally who we think would be extremely viable candidates

065for our administrative jobs you know what with all the raises that we've had I'm comfortable where I am financially and my family life and my time it is more important to me than pay and so it's been one of the story of unintended consequences of improved teacher pay but that that Gap closing between administrator teacher pay has driven far fewer candidates to administrate roles so if that's a curiosity and something for you as individual board members to knock around in their heads forward with things like strategic planning but the other part of that is that as we um you know look at this the timeline is suppressed as well because we want an opportunity to kind of first jump on the very best people right um and we want to make those decisions and be

066a law for contracts prior at the March board meeting because we intend to offer as Mr Schultz said staff contracts or teaching contracts at that same meeting and people like to know who they're going to work for and so as a purpose of the staff those things are all done settled and all that business so um to bring you up to speed currently we've had three applicants um one the Standalone algorithm for the high school one applicant who applied for each campus and another applicant who was a standalone for the Middle School it's been posted for about a week and a half um but I would also tell you that people start feeling that out during Christmas break um and I anticipate that after a long weekend you know people have time to put some

067time into applications over a long weekend so I anticipate that we'll see some more application traffic you know that's next week where it's on so that's kind of overview of the process the planning data a day that those two days that will happen next week when the high school home with Heritage those are really really fun yes because you get an opportunity to talk about all about campus but the popular recommended if you committed to the process are also people who tend to have their pulse on you know what's going on and there are people who believe that we will have longevity so they'll be here over the course of the administration or their people who have been here for a while and sort of have that longitudinal view of their campus so those are

068some of the things and they get a strong caution and admonishment from me try to use my best mom face and um that while they'll know who the candidates are ahead of time they are not to research them in any way shape or form that's the purpose of the interview that's the purpose of the materials the person submits related to Mr Shoal with cyber stock with people and learn more about them because a lot of times what people might find in their attempt to research vote isn't a balanced perspective of who the person is you also want to add that I gave this warning to the Heritage staff today okay I you know I take I look at the recommendation of the committee I look at the the comment cards from the staff I look

069at the comment cards from the um meet and greet uh that the public meet and greet I know at when we were interviewing for the Del Rio principal ship the administrators at the meet and greet were kind of huddled and we were having a discussion on what their payments were and so I take that into consideration but just because I didn't pick what they wanted doesn't mean I didn't hear them I'm very careful about taking everyone's input into consideration along with my own I'm going to spend an hour with the person one-on-one and you know I have to decide what's best for the school district especially the school and what's best for the students and the staff and so it may or may not agree with what a particular person wants but I lead to

070caution them that they have been hurt I look I've made sure to consider every medical prediction we're not just we're doing two and so it's it's uh we're just trying to maybe when I say combine like I said we have one candidate that's gonna have to interview two full days they're gonna have that same process twice right if they're if they're on the if they're they can make the cut they'll be going through that process two years ago two different groups the other groups that will be interviewed um I would um it's not hard um when you get to search for Del Rio to win over the pool to corresponding Technologies and then one except for another position prior to the interview process so we lost one we believe look at that you're welcome itemized

071all right so if you recall the state legislature did not establish the budget that didn't give us a whole lot of time to plan for the new school year we did we were able to give some raises and we were very conservative in the amount of races that we gave um again not knowing how we were going to be impacted so we've had some time to evaluate and we believe that there's about 1.2 million dollars right now that um it's outside of the reports that are in here but encumbered for this plan and so um what the what I want to do is present this plan to you I also want to take it in the end of the month and take a see I can get some appointment and then come back in February

072for you to approve either this plan or something similar on how to best allocate that definitely okay so um if you turn to the there's a Sprint it's a spreadsheet it's just money you've already allocated um you've already hired a maintenance one and a maintenance due and that was for us to complete our own construction projects like the bathroom right also you know a lot of those projects on that list are 10 projects of you know half of them were projects that would be completed by by this stuff uh you did four permanent sub positions already by the way that is Kudos from the principles could not say enough about the those positions so you know you you know we've that has had an immediate impact which is uh I'm glad it did and that's

073the whole purpose for them um you uh there's going to be a couple positions of actually four positions but two groups of positions that we'll talk about next and then that you may or choose to approve or not to approve them so that's that's on there as well which is uh security guards which we discussed at our October meeting about the need for security guards and we'll also share with you the need for uh English language admin support um and why we think we need that so so three of these groups you've already approved two more you will that would be for the remainder of the school year what what would what would happen there that's about two hundred and forty thousand dollars okay what we're proposing for next year is to maintain those those

074positions you've already approved an HR position an HR director position so that's also would be part of that so it's the maintenance one two HR permanent Subs continue with the security continue with the EL support along with 17 teachers okay that comes out to be about 1.7 million um I put some minimum raises that we would include in there and that's 2. about 2.4 million dollars between what we have what we would carry over and what we anticipate we would get for next year that is sustainable so that's not something that I'm concerned about um okay this is on top of the eight teachers that we currently have at Esser we've already accounted for them that's outside of these positions yes so we have one more year investors we have one more year of sr3

075we have to have sr2 spent but sr3 which was the largest of the three pots we can continue through September of 24. I've kind of directed staff that we want to be done by June of 24 so that we kind of clean things up and have it done by itself yeah yeah so what are we going to do with 17 teachers if you flip the page kind of tells you a little bit about what I'd like to propose um at our elementary schools what I'd like to propose is a PE teaching school no okay we have had PE teachers but it's been many many years uh prior to the recession that was one of the cuts that we made at the recession okay one of the things that we did as a result of the

076recession was we cut Preps at the middle school and high school our Middle School and High School teachers teach six classes which is 20 more than what is the industry standard these 12 teachers fight it at Heritage and seven at the high school would be bring back those preps for those teachers now um and this is something that we we discussed uh we've been discussing for a while are we going to be able to find 12 teachers that's that's another question uh we want to throw out there to existing staff if you want to teach this experience and that's your choice to do that you're not going to force it to do that but if you choose to teach sixth grade we'll give you a 20 bump on your contract 20 more work but the

077the key to that is it has to be in multiples of five correct one one teacher is five periods so you gotta fill up those five periods in order for that to be most effective so it could be a combination it could for the high school I'm just throwing things out it could be 12 uh or it would be 15 sections and for teachers so 15 uh 15 overloads and four teachers would make up your seven teachers or it could be five overloads and six teachers I don't care what that this is really left at this site for the sites to determine and because if they don't get the overloads they're gonna have to find the teacher sense for kind of what what it is also and they have the their most they have the

078most intimate knowledge of what their school needs and how to you know although we never want to be experts in schedules we become experts and schedules and how to schedule that as well okay so that uh would bring back now the PE teachers would also bring back a prep at the elementary school and they also have library and computers so those are already in place so those that's 12 plus a 2pt PE teachers is 14. um we have and we'll talk a little bit more about this um when we talked about the DL Administrative Assistant our El our English language Learners uh we are being innovative and we have we currently have an El teacher that's being shared by uh by Del Rio heritage we have a el teacher that is doing two jobs teacher

079and El coordinator to high school and then we also have a an Ela not a teacher that is supporting Federal territory why why required it's a reasonable question you know you know we have we have a significant number of unaccompanied minors at the high school high school students that have a huge impact right now and that's unfortunate because we have the least amount of time with those kids on a company they come up and they live with maybe relative that's already here right don't speak any English the majority of them did not cross the border with a parental care and we have quite a few of the middle schoolers [Music] among the students who are here um are there others and your family who are waiting to come yes they already have identified who's next

080and why aren't they here now there's nowhere for them to so we it is this important got a very very much that's the whole state so what we'd like to do is have a teacher at each campus so we would have two El teachers a high school the the middle school would have a new one the one that's currently serving Del Rio in the middle school would be full-time at the middle school um then we have um a teacher at territorial and then we'll talk a little bit we you know we'll again later we want to add an El admin assistant to help support the uh the ideal teacher slash eel coordinator that's currently serving the high school the administrative assistant could do that so provide some student support surprise Supply some administrative support so

081that administrative duties are being done by Carolyn reader who we're going to lose so that would pick up some of what Carolyn's doing uh on the the administrative side but um so that's you know when you know besides the politics we need to educate these kids and we are being um rated on our education of these kids and in a couple of schools we are told that we're not doing the job that we need to be doing with these kids so this is a plan that we want to put a place to address that great kids not behavioral problems not academic but the kids aren't like very promising students who are you eager to learn doing well like hungry to learn and to be here and so that has made that is one of the

082reasons for the increase Demand on Rosa Maria who is teaching our students because they want to learn they seek her out all the haters they're saying they're watching their knowledge yes it was great and we you know if if you later decide to approve the El admin support position a paraprofessional uh secretary we have somebody identified in there it's a former Chino Valley grad speaks Spanish it can it has you know is a great example for these kids or what could be accomplished and um so we you know we we have put we have people in place that are kind of um connecting with these kids and we want to continue that because that's going to be the best way to get them to living and feed um about positions and we'd like even though

083that one of the things that we are really pushing for in our hires is the capacity to speak Spanish because over one-third of our student population come from Spanish-speaking homes and we need staff who can also speak Spanish so we've talked about 33 over 33 Spanish-speaking homes doesn't mean that they the kids don't speak English okay my question is that adequate is the proposal Advocate I have uh you know this is quite frankly this is one of the reasons for a teaching plan because of this particular population and whether or not you know are we serving it well and I would over 30 seconds yeah so one other thing that people about I thought we were at like 20 25 of our students come from Spanish speaking homes and about seven percent of our students

084do not speak English right now seven about seven percent of the entire student population so the the answer to your question is there's other things that we're doing outside of this and part of that could be um I know that both at the high school and the middle school they're looking for teachers that could teach subject matter in Spanish mostly I think at the at the middle school they've identified a math teacher at science teacher that would teach those subjects in Spanish um you know we we don't want the language to be the hindrance they'll be have other instruction to teach them how to speak English but this way they're not falling behind on the content of that material because of a lack of understanding of that and I think they're trying to do something

085similar at the high school as well so that's in addition to what's going on we're trying to identify I think um in December all of the administrators got together with a Spanish-speaking parents who were there by invite and we had interpreters present and we had Cherry Picked students who really are the most likely to pass the Christian exam in English that will be administered in February and we've invited those students to come to a special test prep boot camp for for course for Fridays between now and the examination so we have teachers who have parapro staff and then we have the parents come so we could explain this is why we invited your kid this is what we're going to be doing during that time transportation is provided we have meals provided and these are

086the things this is why your kid was invited to attend this because we believe your kid has a great capacity to become proficient when they demonstrate proficiency it's sort of a loose use of the term right still need a lot of support when they demonstrate proficiency though it opens other doors for you right more elective courses things like that and then we're in the process of planning with the college a tour at the ctec facility in Spanish for Spanish-speaking families so they can see if your kids become proficient and really turn themselves toward learning English when they're in high school they're going to have all of these other opportunities that language is a barrier for so we're trying to do some things to motivate and excite the parents because parents are here because they want

087to learn their life for their kids they need to understand all the reasons why learning English enables that better life to happen as you know you do not need to speak English you can do every single thing you need to do stash yeah the answer to your question Mike is I don't know if this is enough yeah right but I think I wanted to make sure that we shared other things that we were doing outside of this because you know we are take we are trying to be proactive we're trying to be we recognize the need we're trying to be proactive we've identified some strategies and this is where we think that we could with the resources that we have if we could put the put towards that issue yeah and I appreciate that what

088you're doing yeah absolutely I mean I'm like what happened it's part of that weird question maybe where you are we get more income because we have more kids right okay but then the kids need very very specific tons of support a bit more across the kid because you have to be a lot of services yeah it cost us more but by the same token I'm I am excited that we have staff that sees the vision we had a meeting at the end of the first was the first day or first it would be just full with the high schools having we called it impromptu because all of a sudden the teachers were like I got all these kids in my class you don't speak English and I don't know what to do and so like

089not kidding at the end of the first week of school and everybody started and just wants to go home we had what 30 teachers show up to the library right we talk about we'll talk about it all we can do which tells me to stop us yeah yeah fortunately the younger kids the language the older kids after they're 12 years old it's harder than English it's just the way our brain works and I had customers worth half the kids students speak English [Music] saying some Spanish words ABCs because it was just not what we should eat like the ABCs yet [Music] doing this nothing is really you know just single-minded tunnel brand that you couldn't even see that his child was actually learning something great about another culture unfortunately we have some really awesome kids

090it's a really awesome staff and first step for staff and recommendations so could you comment on the the numbers of those students you projected to that could become proficient were we this year yeah I mean we've identified a group is it a really small group medium or small less than 10 percent of the total population and we know a few decisions like we have a couple of middle school kids um who we don't think will pass the first time but they're so hungry to learn about us so to give you that example they've asked or um one of our take home Chromebooks and Wi-Fi so they can do the online language learning lessons that we do with kids on Friday Saturday offenders so we don't think they're quite there yet but it might be easier

091to also just are so hungry for it as well in the other comments I've got I've got one more position so um one of the things in actually I asked our HR coordinator it was actually a request from Cindy that I followed through on that to identify our staff that are not traditionally certified so traditionally certified means they get a typically they would get an education degree as a bachelor of art degree sometimes another emphasis as part of their bachelor's degree they would do their student teaching they graduate college they have a certificate they go up and become a teacher this we have people that don't have degrees here we have people that have degrees never done any kind of education classes we have um people you know then there's any we have a spectrum

092of people in the bill um and when you have a bachelor's degree there's an alternative Pathway to certification and you never do students we put you in the classroom and you're doing you're doing work that first day never having an education so um we have a significant number it seems like very excuse me it seems like we have more and more every year um because this teacher sorted it's either that or we have no one in the doctor so you currently have four instructional coaches one in campus I'm sorry we have four half time instructional coaches right one at each campus and what we're proposing is to have at an additional full-time instructional coaching and their job would be to help those that are not traditionally certified so that would be their focus is those

093those new staff members that have never had a kind of education class um you know a lot of the times the the content is typically not the issue right it's questionable um it's clean it's all those other things other than the conference and so that this person would help that that on a more intensive basis than our current instructional coaches can do we help those that are not traditionally certain so one for each of the units this is one person to be sure yes and other staff because what we've learned is the non-traditional trained people eat up all their time people yeah and they're going to be they're they're going to be people that are coming in alternative Pathways that are fantastic teachers it has come back they're going to need very little time and

094then we have people that come in and struggle on day one higher levels yeah and so we if we're going to invest in staff we want to make sure we keep them and this is another way to health insurance so again this is just an opportunity for you to discuss this but think about it if you have questions during the next month but you want to ask me or come see me or email me please feel free to do that this will go to see active towards the end of the month and then we will I'll bring back any comments they have to you and hopefully it might be a revised plan it may not be we'll find out in February and then hopefully we'll go through something Federal item 90 is the addition of

095the secretary do you feel this is the idea now right um and so this is one step we guess there's a classified employee again we think we've identified somebody a former graduate that speak Spanish to do this and so um we have the discussion I don't know if there's any further questions that you may have regarding this position um we are constantly evaluating our positions uh very few times that we had a program you know our special ed is going up our yield is going up it seems like we have more and more specialized needs but we would constantly evaluate what we need and we can adjust on in this position on apply it's not you know it's not a contract position so if the need goes away if for some reason the Ade says

096you don't need to have all these reports uh we can easily uh you know adjust as necessary you know there's questionable thinking but you know as an example so if you know any position is conditions um [Music] we have this discussion in October the need for this one and Julie's not here but I do want to share a incident or a story that she had it kind of reflects how what kind of impact this can happen so we do not have a fire alarm at Heritage and we're trying to get that replaced by our insurance company so the fire department absolutely a firewatch which is somebody that walks around and watches for buyers every day while students are on campus we have somebody on campus walking around with the best on the radio and they

097are looking for funders uh because we don't have a car um and this is just this is the fire department requires us oh yeah oh yeah so one of the one of the things that they do is they also pop up the bathrooms they also pop into places that you know may not be seen all the time by people and what what uh and then you can you can verify this it seems to cut down the number of incidences that are taking place in these places when there's somebody actually looking and that's what the hope that we're going to have with this with these these um security guards that they just provide an additional presence to help alleviate some of the the student behaviors on campus and in addition to the ability to use that

098um right now they will not be armed but I think that's a discussion that that you know you all need to have at at some point in the near future and that may be as part of the Strategic plan I don't know uh but that is a is a possibility but that has not been approved right now well we haven't uh the police department provides us uh student resource officer that's actually um their house at the middle school so it was officer because he's at the middle school um actually I saw him parked outside the high school today but he serves actually all four schools I appreciate what the police department does put the school district this is at no cost for us the police department provides him as a service to the district and

099maybe as a service to themselves because do they have one person that is addressing all the kid issues um he's making great relationship with kids um great relationships with parents as paying off but we would still maintain that but that's always at the you know pleasure of the Peace Department but that everything that we are hearing is at that we continue yeah yeah we currently have a security officer at the high school so this would be just one additional security uh that's my job um if I'm not available foreign [Music] yes I'm not arguing that I just it's unfortunate this is an action item um you have a further discussion if we could how will you give the motion um okay all we asked for him was to apply I didn't get his shirt and

100you know we have access to the ate database we looked he was given notice prior to the break equity and um we don't necessarily know all the details uh not that we need to know the details um we've you know we're managing this as a hardship to the middle school that they're that they're managing but not necessarily um it's not that it's not good for kids but that's you know that's your choice um yes um you're not the only one I know that and I I have to tell you I'm disappointed too because I feel like it approves things because and so I'm I just I'm when I fight anymore um I do want to say that you know she is has a great opportunity uh world I I don't think that she's going to

101get rid of us 100 she's going to be involved in some way with us just not in that position so um we and we're thankful for whatever she can give us because you know I I am excited for her at least she has an opportunity that she could not pass up that she did not see just kind of fell into her lap but I appreciate that what she's done for us and like I said she's not getting rid of us any other questions there's a supplement to make sure that the the supplement is reviewed as well please um thank you all in favor [Music] item 10 a contract award following issues upon a prescription services ready to go go ahead so please hopefully you've been able to review this and to summarize we discussed this

102since I believe in probably even shooting housing then we are in September we put the publication out in the middle of the paper Sheriff but myself and a procurement person I didn't hear with two different groups October 5th and fourth meetings you're looking at a lot of questions we've got lots of meetings we realized that we were diverging just a little bit with the definition of public lands that would come up and you have since resolved that we did get a document from the city saying this is what we're looking for nine different items it does resemble more of a subdivision status installation and these these uh before I show you these Maps we have a little tutorial layouts here you did delay this based on these discussions we were having around October 31st originally

103moving to November 17th we opened the bids and there were only two respondents we hoping to explore of the two one who was unable to put in a good bond in Arizona School construction if you've got a two million dollar project you better have a 200 000 the place of that only one had that so that left just with one qualified applicant and it's a it's an applicant that we've probably heard of uh it's a brand new company Nationwide it's head offices in Vegas at the atmosphere directors I'm trying to keep by 20 feet by 19 high and it would fit in our place over here uh we had had several discussions with them uh I don't think you'd like to add at this point Chris I have a special actually Lawrence if you want

104to run that there's like a one minute video kind of shows what what it looks like [Music] welcome home to the boxable Casita where you can live large for very little your boxable Casita arrives complete right out of the box with a full-size shaker style kitchen oven microwave a tall window right over the sink and an adorable breakfast bar for two and behind this contemporary sliding glass barn door you'll find a full-size bathroom with a shower tub a backlit mirror over the glass vessel sink and a whole lot of drawers for storage everywhere won't keep you warm or cool with included heating and air conditioning and the mood right with dimmable LED lighting for the tall eight-foot Windows under the even taller 9 foot 6 inch ceiling we've obsessed so much over the details that

105even our Outlets have integrated USB plugs for your electronic convenience enjoy all these great features with a home price at a remarkable forty nine thousand five hundred dollars 250 per month and ultra low utility bill on average of about twenty eight dollars per month and when you're ready for a little more room we'll be ready with more bedrooms more living room and even a second story possibles are built up with Precision from steel and concrete and are pretty much everything proved boxable dedicated to providing homeowners with greater Freedom by lowering the ownership costs with a home designed to the highest standards of quality strength and sustainability to last for Generations these ones they are currently installing these units at headlight or pulling housing there are stacking them there so that they're basically a two-story studio

106studio on top to be on the bottom stairs and but that that unit that was next to the bathroom door which I think is cool there's a look like a look like a dryer it's actually a washer dryer combo you can close in it washes it and then you don't need to take it out and it drives it so will have its own washer and dryer as well how many of these are yeah one would access the parking whatever and watch for the rest of these days the price they're charging is quote is 81 000 per unit episode we do know that that we've had questions but uh yeah everybody with water and you know flooded in the sealed area we believe that it was really closely with them ideology studies it's right here in

107the hospital summary that it will be installed correctly because we believe that if there's a problem when we may I guess the term would be brace for a change order if we're under perceived conditions to accept that but if someone would be divided for Elizabeth School is right in that same area wow you know no not completely there's there's parts of the campus that are not necessarily they have nothing to do with that they're just Advantage issues but um 40 foot tears down in this conference Services they're basically Justice well they have the I guess you could say almost like a franchise situations the design of the compressible walls is a nationwide company during the licensed authorized either from Las Vegas there's a reputable Construction Company I'll show you the easiest way out um maybe

108two of these will fit one at this end one of that in but they're quite large so one of the things that I had this discussion with with Mr Sheriff today one of the things that we're going to happen to make sure that we do is in the in the RFP which we've seen this before they're required to follow the rules of the Town building code along with foreign [Music] so there's foundations they're septic there's water there's electric there's fire lane there's something you know there's a variety of things that are required 48 times actually of Landscapes as John knows about this so I did go through extensively the contract that was sent out to you all yesterday and all the components of a subdivision that need to be in there are reflected in the

109conduct whether it's a sidewalks curves drainage Landscaping uh sticking as an engineer I'm very happy because what I have what I've seen and if you look at the site plan these are small units but because of their placement we've got spaces for increasing if this goes on in the future we could do this again and again if these units proved useless and the way they constructed the fire Lanes it'd be easy to extend those spiralings up each side right um and build more units so you could duplicate this price according to the land I looked at it well we're actually not acquired one of these things where you're it's kind of a catch me but there's courthouses in the country that are 130 years old and still have ramps they're encouraged now if you spend

110any federal dollars or any government dollars to meet that standard so you have one in 20 reps instead of one in 12 reps and things whether because it's still public land but I think to to please the city and give them what they're out here and kind of meet their code for a subdivision that's that would that be what you describe it as Chris that we're trying to meet their code and requirements yes after the meeting to do that we definitely want at least one with Ada access and one of the things that it also has occurred within the past week we've gotten that I received a documents to apply for the the maximum Grant which is through yeah and Oklahoma counties and part of that is we you know this money that is part

111of the grant is actually um Professor funds so which is federal funds and so we want to make sure that we're in line I know we have a sam.gov information that we have to provide which is a bit of grant information and so um that's important let me we can show that we're you know make an effort at least to make inclusive to everybody people that get slapped with lawsuits for non-ada compliance so that will be something that you will need to determine between now and one of these are completed which could be as early as August I think that's being helpful but it knows um I see this as transitional housing this is not meant to live in for years and years it's meant to bring somebody in let them get on their feet

112and maybe move to you know find a place that they can make a forever home or or at least uh while they're here at home and um so I'm thinking um maybe two three years snacks I mean do they also they're going to be right and and part of the financing so a portion of this we think can be paid use we know Community funding so that would pay for part of it in addition to that um John and I have been having conversations that I know he did some initial investigation we are trying to figure out an amount of the amount that we can Finance and then with events that we collect would you use the pay for that financing payments so with you know basically we wanted to help pay it's not going

113to 100 pay for itself but to pay for itself as much as possible I like the rents that we're collecting and we were talking you know I threw out 500 a month to somebody they thought that was ridiculously low um you know but we wanna you know we don't want to subsidize we want to make you don't want to subsidize what you want to make it affordable um so that's you know we there will be rent we will take it out of people's paychecks um there was a concern that that makes it sound like company housing well that's kind of what this is is company housing um and then at the same time we want it to be nice you know we want you know there'll be upkeep associated with this um the the facilities

114department will have to do uh there'll be people moving it out um there'll be you know upkeep that we have to associated with that but it will be we will be landlords the district will become a landlord and so we'll work with our attorney this is not new to a school district um I don't if you live in company in school district housing and you or did you drive every day right in fact yeah the average company yes right okay so you know Baghdad does it um it's you know we have a a former Yucca County Superintendent lives up in Cedar or Works in Cedar there's School District housing there so this is nothing new we have lots of resources our attorney uh we can work on this come up with like uh we have

115a lease um everything else and we'd have to come up with with board approved criteria that would establish you has if anyone has you know a precedent or has a preference in selection and it may be just a random Lottery so we that would be something that we have to have a discussion I believe [Music] I I I I think it's just one more tool because [Music] um this is an action item s [Music] on Saturday the improve the contract with chronborn services let's agenda item for the evening is items 11 a and it is the first reading of revised policies so um just a little bit of a a procedural issue that I want to share with you um there are five exhibits of regulation in the policy so our policy are things that

116you all approve and that is kind of an overarching tells us kind of how we what we should do regulations are the procedures on how to implement policies exhibits our forms that are associated with the regulation and or policy okay uh by by our policies um the only thing that a board has to improve is a policy that's done through two reasons um the board is the superintendent can approve exhibits and regulations I make the practice agreement typically bringing those things to you uh and so uh I can't remember the last time that you guys didn't approve a regulation or is it Well it can't happen and I don't have to but I choose it um I will uh we'll do two readings with this we could approve the exhibits and the regulation I want

117to hold that off there's some of these that we that don't apply to us for example there's uh an exhibit on Library materials selection and adoption it does not apply to us the way that we have our libraries structured that was only a height list if we have certified Librarians so we don't need to have that exhibit because it doesn't apply it and so there's a couple there's one or two other things that I want to um that I'll look at they'll kind of pull out at the next meeting uh but right now I just want to kind of give you that heads up that's what's going on there's only one policy that really is subject to the two readings but we're just going to do twofold any questions together
