foreign thank you foreign thank you foreign it is so good to see everyone here this evening and we are going to start our meeting with Lashana bringing us the inspirational moment foreign okay it seems like our technical difficulty is lasting a little bit longer than we expected so we're going to come back to it but right now we're going to hear from our superintendent for our highlights from him Justin do I need to do the long version or the short version of my highlights okay I go through kind of the activities that I've done over the last month on board tonight I just want to share my appreciation and gratitude last week was Nurses Appreciation week I think we can all agree that our nurses have been through a lot this school year and last
school year we have amazing nurses in our in our schools and Kim Howard our lead nurse I just want to extend my gratitude to them again this past week was also National Police Appreciation Week Chief Pettis uh we appreciate you and your team we celebrated them in [Applause] we celebrated them in in January but just want to give a shout out to him and his team I want to congratulate our 2022 retirees that we will celebrate tonight I want to say thank you and amazing job to all of our students who are going to perform tonight I don't really get a chance to to talk after you guys perform so really looking forward to that I want to congratulate our class of 2022 who will be graduating on June 2nd at our Warrior football stadium
at 10 A.M [Applause] and as we as we head into the last week of school year I just want to thank our staff our students our parents um it's not been an easy year but the resilience we have here in Warren Township is just incredible so thank you for a great school year and and let's finish strong thank you Dr Hansen at this time we will have board comments and are you ready okay we are going to turn it over to Lashana we're ready for our inspirational moment Physicians told James and his wife Eva that their daughter had pneumonia the infection was so severe that her lung had begun to bleed into her abdomen and the five-year-old developed sepsis a serious blood infection that devastated her kidneys a severe case of pneumonia ravaged her organs
after undergoing ECMO and dialysis the now seven-year-old received a life-saving kidney transplant at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta a Children's Miracle Network member hospital and now she's back at school with her friends and she can't stop smiling or singing ladies and Gentlemen please put your hands together for the lovely radiant and beautiful Angelica Hale [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] and never found anyone who fulfilled my needs a lonely place [Music] I decided long ago Shadows [Music] me greatest [Music] it's easy to achieve [Music] it is the greatest [Music] they told that young like don't let any obstacles hold you back no matter what anyone tells you if you can think it you can do it um staff admin at Warren let's be those Heroes for our youth and Scholars to look up to if we're not their
Heroes and great role models for them they will find someone to roll my lashes so as Whitney Houston has said then I say young lady said boys The Greatest Love of All is easy to achieve Learning To Love Yourself is The Greatest Love of All and as he said at the beginning let's keep smiling mouths are contagious I now want to turn over to conclude this is for rational by our student representative Miss Asha one thing she told us at the SAG Awards she said she said more of this yes yes so today because Warren staff she is a replica of what we have instruct stalled in her so I should take it away [Applause] thank you so much for that good evening I want to start off with student council recap of the year
we've had a very successful prom and I put together a slideshow to show you I'm not singing on this but we have President Williams in the middle the food was amazing this year and we want student council wants to extend a special thank you to the Indianapolis Roof Ballroom again we've been their longest um members for prom and we were very thankful and very very thankful that everything played out exactly how we wanted it to I also wanted to take this time again with the opportunities at Warren Central I was featured in the Indianapolis Far East Side magazine and I got the chance at 17 years old to go to an NFL draft party to talk to Indianapolis very on Far East Side David Bell he was as you all know drafted in with the
Cleveland Browns the NFL and I wanted to talk about the opportunities at Warren Central I talked to my friends outside of the district they don't have these opportunities like that so again going after you know what you believe in as a freshman I came in a little you know under the surface but here I am giving speeches to you all looking at my principal in the crowd looking at my old Mr Bennett from Liberty Park not my old but a younger teacher and and seeing him retire so I pushed this to all I push this to all students that finding the opportunities at Warren and it's not they're not feeding your ears this is real opportunity my 27 year old teacher said I went to my first NFL draft party at 27. I went to
it at 17. I now have a direct line again with the Indianapolis Star Carl redneck who does stories for our sports teams here so I'm saying the opportunities are endless and go after what you want because I am and I'm proud of myself as well as everybody else and if they're not any questions I'm done [Applause] thank you Asha you know that was really a great inspirational moment you know just taking pride in our children you know so much is going on and sometimes we fail to look at the positive things that are going on and our children are great and don't let anybody tell you that you're not and Asha is we're just so proud of you here at Warren and we just want you to know that we appreciate you and just keep
it up keep up the good work don't let anything like she says stop you from achieving your goal we applaud you um you know that was an inspirational moment for me I just got caught up in it let me get back to the town said hand and we will have uh comments from our board and since uh Lashana gave the inspirational we're going to start at this end with Julie um my comments are mainly going to be talking about the career center if you didn't notice the Gray's gone I didn't know it but the cosmetology department was open again and then I saw some advertisements about I thought ah it's open I'm going to call them so I got in um I used to do this quite often and I'm going to start it up
again next year now that I know they're they're open um just so you know these kids that are in this department are there for several different reasons the young lady that I had today or not today but this week was um her name was Taylor and she wants to be a cosmetologist to start with she loves doing hair and I watched her when she was doing and you could just see her just she was so into it and just calm it was like a soul thing for her and um then she um I asked her more and she said she wants to go to college for business and accounting and because I had mentioned that some other kids have told me they they're taking they were taking Cosmetology in order to um help pay their
way through college for another degree that they want and she said yeah I want to I want to get a degree in accounting and and business she wants to open her own cosmetology department her own cosmetology Place salon and then and worked there as well as having other people in there and then she would like to open up several and move out of doing hair and just kind of running several of them I thought well that's really neat that's really neat so um yay for them yes for cosmetology I want to extend my thanks to Del bub when I um was going to two different robotics competitions my car gave me fits the first one was on my way home and my husband ended up coming and meeting me on the east side or on
the west side of town and and we were able to get my car over to our shop and they said it was your battery and they changed my battery oh it's so old and then at the next competition that we went to my car kind of did the same thing but it was on the way down so I wasn't sure if I would make it back and I talked to Mr Griffin one of our mentors for our robotics team and he looked at it and he said he helped me and we figured we could get me back and and I got back and he told me to get a hold of Mr buff and and tell him and have him look at it since we were heading off to stay or to Worlds right after
that it's kind of hard time to turn around so I thought okay I'll try that so I asked him he was very kind he um texted me and told me what was wrong with with it and and it was what I thought it was the alternator and he told me to where to pay for it and I paid for it and I I he then took it and fixed it and let me know so thank him thank you thank you thank you very much so there that Department's very good too um and then I also have another group but I'm going to wait till later on in our program for them but I just want to say we have an amazing career center so for those of you that are here that are younger you
really need to check it out it's so cool there are so many things you can you have an opportunity to do and um there are a lot of people in this room right now that could help you find those out if you ask so thank you very much that's all I've got thank you so much Julie Howard thank you Gloria we'll give you my name right I had to pause this this looks good we got a nice crowd here today and we're going to be recognizing some some of our our our treasured uh retirees of course which is always a good thing but we lose a lot of experience when they when they retire and go away but they're going to be a lot of them going to be coming back and working for us
doing some other things hey I'm just telling you that's what happens normally what happens so we're going to see him again and we're going to be pleasured the uh I just want to take this time to recognize again Gloria for receiving from the isba regional eight meeting the commendable award for governance the of course the board was also recognized but I didn't recognize Rachel the last time because she also received an award for us an associate award so I want to say uh congratulations uh Rachel for that um uh Lashana that was that was great that was a really great inspirational uh moment there I really appreciate that and uh Asha glad you're here with us thank you your words were very inspirational too we appreciate that and that's pretty much pretty much all I've
got thanks thank you so much Howard now Dennis thank you Gloria hello gracias Senora Gloria yes yes first of all give me one minute I go say something in Spanish [Music] foreign good evening everyone it's a pleasure for us to see this room like this full if all the meeting be like this believe me that is inspiration for us to work hard for all kids thank you everybody again foreign to come in tonight and we happy to see this room this way thank you also I'd like to say thank you to Mr or principal shopper because the last week he invited us to to events in we saw how many good stories he make because he covered good teams the result is to have a good student principal chapra we can give a hand to
you a good job and that's it thank you Dennis now we will go with Shanna hi again so my month has been again Mr shepler the in Dr Hansen and Kim for setting up everything you guys Kim is without Kim we would I would be lost let me just say that she's awesome um the SAG Awards were amazing um to see everybody Sashay and on the stage and um Mr shepler you making those students you know speak but they were ready for the task I've been attending the attendance policy as we reviewing it with um director um Taylor director of student services at mcrc the isba regional 8 meeting was grade um glad that our board and our president and of course Miss um Rachel received recognition we also um with mcrc had a youth
Gala and that Gala celebrated youth that um I show you got to experience prom we have a lot of Youth that experience homelessness and have been displaced that they never get to experience Prime so with the collaboration and the support of mcrc and our Community Partners we were able to host 176 Youth and families we gave out 50 awards from the community and 31 of those recipients were warned students that were selected from community members so I just want to give our hats off thank you Dr Hansen thank you president Williams for attending that Warren not only looks we love all of our babies no matter what their circumstances are so um thank you again and the wife meetings have been going well I will have a report for our tea up soccer I mean
not soccer what is it a golf wrong sport I have pom-poms I'm sorry so um I will bring information back about our golfing um tournament thank you president Williams at this time we will have comments from Rachel so I wasn't here last month because I was in Houston so I have a list I apologize in advance I have really enjoyed thanks a lot to Howard's wife reading to Sunny Heights All Year miss Ben Barry's class and I have just found out that they are looping with her next year so I'm hoping to just be able to jump straight in in the fall and continue because I have just enjoyed every moment of it although I will say that my cats and dogs are the high point of the reading it's less me reading the book
and more me reading the book and them enjoying the cats as they wander by but it's good um I attended the high school honors program and once again had rave reviews on the walk through um way of having it organized these students do really just absolutely love that instead of going to the entire program they walk through and they see their teachers and they get their stuff and it was a really good program um speaking of being in Houston I had the opportunity to head referee at Columbus for FRC and they allowed me to inspect robots which is a questionable decision on their part at typical new um and then I refereed the state competition but we're going to get back to that later um and so those were always great opportunities it's always wonderful
seeing all the kids from across the state and then when I went down to Houston from across the world and just all the wonderful things that they do with robots and how they work together and really the community that has been built that is supportive and inclusive in every way is just really wonderful I was asked to Proctor a Middle School academic Super Bowl competition in Zionsville and I have to admit when I read the rules that wasn't that going to be the highlight of my year but I had an absolute blast so some things times things are way better than they seem in the description um you don't Proctor the school you're with so I proctored a small parochial school and talking to the kids and it was honestly it was just an absolutely
wonderful morning and day I enjoyed every minute of it um so sometimes you just have to take those opportunities when they come even if you're not sure about them and they just turn out really wonderfully so I'm looking forward to doing that next year now um I have continued participating participation in the Coalition for racial Equity moving forward after 11 34. that's a group that meets weekly and discusses legislative future legislative plans so that's always good I also attended the isba spring meeting along with the rest of the board which was great and these set a good example banquet which is always a highlight um the kids at the high school I know a lot of them I love a lot of them and so it was just absolutely wonderful being able to go to
this banquet and see kids that because of covid um and safety reasons I haven't necessarily had the opportunity to see in a while I've sent them encouraging emails and things like that but to be able to see them and give them hugs and tell them how proud I am of them it was really just an absolutely wonderful time and so I really treasured that event and being able to attend it I've attended many many track meetings and have gotten really royally sunburned at many of them and so congratulations to the girls track team on once again winning sectionals keeping that streak going I look forward to seeing all the wonderful things they're going to continue to do with the rest of the season I attended the Walker Career Center signing day which is a great
day speaking of all the wonderful things that our career center do does seeing the students who completed internships and have signed on to jobs and have really just excellent Futures sitting there waiting for them the second they walk out of high school is just absolutely great for the township and for those students and for our local employers I participated in the freedom to read round table with the Indiana state literacy Association the Indiana library foundation and keep Indiana learning as well as people from Washington Township and Pike Township and state senator Yoder and that had to do it was a Roundtable discussion about book Banning and making sure that students and citizens of the state have access to reading material across the state it was a really really good session and it was really good
to talk to people kind of coming at the problem from a lot of different angles as to how we make sure to keep access to books and um libraries open and free and um I have complimented Marcus on this privately I would like to do in person I go to the high school every morning to do drop off and the change when those trees got planted and now that that hay is down and we've got grass on its way was just shocking it is starting to look pretty and I'm really really excited for how it is going to look over the summer how it's going to look for graduation and it has really just tied together it no longer looks like that area is under construction it looks like a high school campus it looks
just absolutely gorgeous so I'd like to again thank him for all of his hard work that just appeared overnight one day and it was just absolutely beautiful and it was quite Pleasant the next morning um I want to say thank you to the staff nurses police everything that you do May is you know kind of that quick month where we do appreciation for everyone and I kind of worry that it all runs together but we really do very sincerely offer our thanks for every single thing that every single employee of this District does we could not be successful without you and we recognize that fact that is even more true these past two years so thank you so much and then finally many of my favorite people in the world are in this room tonight
so I'm just so excited to see all of you and I look forward to hearing you perform and congratulating you so thank you so much Rachel now Terry always hard being next to last on this speaking and welcoming everyone because a lot of my papers my words on my paper have already been set um I do agree Howard I think the miss the treasures the years of service and the dedication of our retirees but I really want to welcome everyone and personally want to welcome our students and staff members that are being honored and celebrated this evening um I want to congratulate the girls track and field team on their sectional win um really hoping to come out with another State title this past Sunday I was able to attend the set a good example
award and I um it's always a fabulous event I feel like covet has robbed a lot of our kids from opportunities and just seeing this year being able to have prom being able to have all of our Awards ceremonies being able to have parents back in the buildings and really being able to host graduation on a larger scale is going to be very cherished because I feel like the things that you've missed when they come back you learn to appreciate them more I'm looking forward to graduation being able to celebrate again with our families and our students it's been a long 13 years but a lot of families have or students have plans and dreams and going back to lashana's inspirational moment I do everybody has their path and everybody has their dreams and I
feel like you have to chase your dreams um going back and connecting that with what you said about reading rules and not wanting to maybe outside on the surface it's not all that interesting but always dive in deeper and see where you fit in and where you're going to take yourself because you are the driver and best wishes to our alarm all of our graduate graduating seniors and to our retirees thank you so much Terry well we're finally down to me I'll try not to talk too long because I know everybody's getting sort of tired so I just cannot let this moment go by without just mentioning a few things first of all I want to say LaShawna and Asha that was awesome inspirational that just brought little tears to my eyes just to I
just love to see young people being successful and secondly I would like to say the prom oh my goodness Asha met me at the prom all the oh the young people look so nice and at first I was nervous I said they're going to say what is this old lady doing at this prom but all the young people were excited for me to be there and they even wanted me to dance I was like I don't know I don't think you all want me to I'm not a good dancer but it was a great event beautifully decorated all the young people look so nice and I felt excited because it's been two years and we've finally got a chance to get back to Norm okay and the next thing I want to say chair Police
Department let's give them a [Music] H Chief pet is leading the way and he has a tremendous fantastic team as you can see when you walk through the door they greeted you at the door and we just want you to know that we appreciate you and you know whatever we can do to assist you just let us know but we appreciate everything that you do and with that we have staff appreciation and staff you already know we appreciate everything that you do we could not do it anything without you it takes all of us working together to make us the pride of the east side oh so with that I would like to say that the gala the youth Gala that I attended the Lashana sponsored in her group it showed me that and and
I'm going to give this message to you you might make mistakes there's no one that's perfect I make mistakes all grown-ups make mistakes young people if you make mistakes pick yourself up and keep going you know my rule is if at first you don't succeed try try again but young people at this Gala have made mistakes but they picked themselves up and they were ready to move forward with their lives and that's what life is all about so it was an awesome opportunity to see these young people all dressed up and excited and all of them received Awards so that was fantastic and I would like to also piggyback off of what Rachel said about Shirley Darcy some people work really good behind the scenes and you don't even know what they're doing but I
tell you she's a hard worker as far as trying to get people into the schools to read to our young people I was one of them before my husband passed away and I sort of got behind and so hopefully next year I'll be back on my feet again and be able to continue to read I'm almost done I did attend the top 30 Awards and I'm so proud of those top 30 students let's give them a hand again also set a good example Asha won an award raise your hand Asha she wanted a word for certain a good example Awards and we just want to give her another hand for that too and all the students that received Awards also women of power in cosmetology like they said we visited the cosmetology school like Julie
said and it is awesome that was my first time being there and they're doing wonderful things there and Chanel Shamil stand up she received an award and she is really good in that area yes she's in the area of um culinary right okay so great so you know as I meet these fantastic young people I just want to shot give a shout out to them and two more things our retirees I tell you get ready to shout yes you're getting ready to have a good time and you just relax and travel and enjoy your life I tell you you put in all your work and your service and now it's time for you to pamper yourself so congratulations and we appreciate all the hard work and we're going to have tears in our high school
we're going to miss you but I know you're not going to have a tear in your eye you're going to say oh oh I tell you goodbye I'll come back and visit sometime okay and lastly I attended the signing day also and it was really refreshing to see young people stepping out into jobs these different businesses saying Hey I want you I want you I want your college is saying I want you I want you so you know what the sky is the limit to what you can have just keep dreaming keep believing and keep working towards your goal can I say one more thing yes I'm sorry I would normally save this for the end for my closing but I want since we have so many people here now I'd like to say it
at the cosmetology department just so you know if you need to get your hair done and you go there they get points or they get awarded um requirements that they need in order to get their certificate so when I went I got my hair cut I got it colored and I I had it styled and I am not a good stylist I could never replicate what they do I'm a wash and go person and but but by allowing her to do that she was able to have three things done that counted towards her certification so if you ever need to get your hair cut there just think about that so thank you and Marcus claim don't think that we forgot about you he received an award too and set a good example so he's been
setting a good example and so he deserved to get that award would you stand so people will see who you are and let's give him a hand [Applause] okay I don't want you guys to uh thank me twice thank uh thank me that I started the meeting thank me that I finally stopped talking so so that um we can finish with our meeting for tonight next on our list we have our one student representative Asha did you do that presentation earlier or did you have something else to present to them okay that was great okay so we're going to move on to our spotlight okay now we're going to move on to our Spotlight with uh rich shepler our 16th Street so quiet thank you president Williams superintendent Dr Hansen and members of the board
yes um I know you're not clapping for me because these these people that are coming up here right now are incredible last week they had a concert and it lasted into the wee hours I wish it would have continued because they are just phenomenal and so with that Mr long I'd like for you to come over and take the mic and if you could first introduce these young ladies I'd greatly appreciate it because they definitely deserve it thank you Mr long well before they get ready to sing for you um this the this group was created this year um out of covet and out of the need for Innovation and just change um I saw a very talented group of of young women and I thought let's create a group just for them and this
group now will evolve next year we're already growing into bigger group next year of a mixed group of boys and girls and we've already been invited to a very prestigious event in September which we're very excited about with the attorney general's conference here in Indianapolis in September and so we're very excited to perform there and so they're performing um you're probably going to see a slide in a moment right this Friday night we have a group uh National performing professional group called radius that has already worked with them once this year in a virtual workshop and they're going to be here on Friday as well to present a master class with them and then as well form with them on stage at the pack at the Performing Arts Center in Warren at a very special
concert with our WC Jazz Ensemble and so they'll all three be on stage gonna be a great night of music so you can get your tickets it's online check it out there are hors d'oeuvres served and dessert bar for intermission so hey we're feeding it too and you get an incentive to show up so we hope to have you there the song we're going to sing tonight is a song that was arranged specifically for them this is only the second time it's ever performed in the world so get your cameras out record it enjoy it it's called you move imove originally performed by John Lennon uh John Legend sorry and arranged by Wilson Smith foreign [Music] I'll do the same world that's how we live [Music] it's only time [Music] then I'll be talking about
[Music] me [Music] is [Music] so much [Music] I'm going to [Applause] um [Music] Gloria I'm sorry I want to say something um ladies that was amazing I want to also make sure that every year when we go to National Convention man The National Music Association the conference always has student performers and my biggest thing is why aren't our kids there so I'm challenging all of our directors to please look into the conference the National School Board conference please send in tapes of our kids our kids deserve to be highlighted yes and and one other thing on that they part of the reason we haven't had kids I know because I've been thinking about that as well is because the size of our groups they only allow so many but this is the perfect size so
um I'm going to tell you they actually had was it maybe 40 or 50 people of a show choir this year oh so they've changed yes ma'am they've changed those numbers and I would love to see our kids there you guys deserve to be there and as an encouraging word she also challenged us as a school board so as we challenge you we have been challenged we're going to present at our Indiana School Board Association as the board in the school we're presenting so we would love to come and represent and holler for you at Nationals so good job yeah and I would like to say when they when they first uh came up I was like well where's the piano and where's the organ oh I don't see a radio or a tape you
know and I kept looking for the music and when they began singing you notice they were able to provide their own music and that is awesome that's what you call talent because when I sing I need all that music to cover up my voice so I applaud you guys you really have good voices and don't let anything stop you we enjoyed that and like she said we would like to Showcase you so hopefully you guys can put in and we'll be able to Showcase what we're doing here in Indianapolis on the far East Side thanks again let's give them another hand as a matter of fact you know what make them feel really special let's give them a standing ovation everybody corn [Applause] [Music] very good thank you so much with that we're going to
move on and I told you I was going to be brief we have Brian Simpkins and we are ready to honor our retirees good evening everyone president Williams Dr Hansen members of the board Warren Community we have a great running tradition here at their May board meeting to honor and recognize our retirees many of whom are in the room tonight it is indeed a little bit of a Bittersweet moment as usual because we have learned to get to know so many of these folks over the years and depend on them and so uh you know for the for the folks that are retiring it adds up to 955 years of service and many have over 25 years of service a significant handful over 30. so we just really appreciate and from even from a human
resources standpoint just the the devotion the Loyalty even even on days when maybe you didn't feel like it just you're conscientious to the details of the job that you do and so that that those are all things that we should all aspire to no matter what our role is in the district or the community so so that said congratulations on behalf of the district congratulations on your retirement we wish you all the best and here's to a happy retirement like I said many of these many of the folks I'm going to read all of our retirees names to recognize them many are here in the room and so when you hear your name please come up and meet with Dr Hanson at the table here before me except our small token of appreciation and then

that I kind of needed to step forward and be a mentor for some of our girls in Warren Township especially if you're in middle school and you're a girl and you're not gifted either athletically academically artistically musically anything like that sometimes you kind of get ignored so I wanted to be able to have these girls in a program where they can be mentored uh through me through other leaders in the community where they can kind of learn how to harness their gifts we have Chenille she's one of the oldest members in our program I think I've had her since 2018 and Imani she's one of my newer girls in sixth grade both the Raymond Park so we're in park ribbon so Chenille she has a bunch of different accomplishments including being in the Walker Career
Center culinary arts program we make sure that we visit some program in Walker Career whether it be the School of Cosmetology which I do have a couple girls that are in that school now as sophomores and juniors I think that's what she's in yeah and then we also have a couple other girls that are involved in volleyball cheerleading other types of sports like that so I'll let Chenille kind of talk about her experience in the program um so I joined women in power at the time I wasn't involved in anything and um I'm nervous so um and so it was something to get me involved at the time get me out of the house because I was just I was you know one of those kids who wasn't wasn't really doing nothing and um also
something I can look forward to at the end of the day or you know in the month um which was good for me it and it's fun so if you got younger siblings or sisters or anything like that that's in sixth through eighth grade tell them to join because it is fun and we have fun we go on trips and we don't just we do all kinds of things we eat you know I actually cooked for the group and you know we just we just be talking about things we do things on lady everything and like hygiene and everything like that and it's really changed me in ways and it's helped me and um I meet new people and then eventually I've helped the young ladies become better and um so I've learned that first
impressions are key to you know when you're meeting new people and all kinds of departments and stuff and all the things that I've you know experience and Warren is a great School and I've have a lot of opportunities from Warren and um it can help this program can help a lot of ladies um you know come up become a better person and uh just you know act better do better um just become all around better because you know at the end of the day some sometimes you might have a a lady figure in your life and um Miss Harris might make you feel like you like you belong you know and um and and so this opportunity can can help a lot of people you know in middle school and just starting now I know
my sister is in fifth grade and she will be joining next year so she will be joining next year and she's going to have a good time and so um right now in the future as for right now I'm going to continue in culinary because I'm good at it and I love to cook so you know I think that's that's about right now [Applause] and our Imani is one of our sixth graders so we have the beginning of the program end of the program examples right here so go ahead you got it girl yeah she she is very talkative and very [Laughter] women Empowerment Group because I was being a leader and helping others out letting them know like was good Armani I check on her almost every day um just helping her through a
lot of like if she has any like issues with people she might not feel like she's being heard in some way so I'm kind of that other voice or other you know ear for her to just let her vent have it out so that it doesn't cause other problems in school so she's she's done a lot as far as progressing in the program I've had comments from like her counselors her Deans teachers stuff like that that have been like hey thank you so much for you know talking to her meeting with her I just want to keep them um out of trouble for like little stuff that might get them in trouble I don't want them to have to get in trouble for it so just me going there talking to them sometimes that helps
in the long run so usually that can help alleviate some of the pressure they have during the school day or if they're having like the social media issues we can kind of work through that and try to develop solutions for that and what what's some some of the stuff you want to do in the future more trips maybe like that we're probably going to Chicago next in about two weeks so we'll be going to um an American Museum of Art going to the bean the Navy Pier we're not getting on a boat because I can't swim there's a couple other things we're going to be doing there as well go to a couple black owned and Latina owned businesses there just so they get more exposure and see that there's a world outside of the
east side so and as you can see [Applause] us appreciate the high schoolers coming back and you know volunteering and helping out with the so that's really great though good job thank you how many girls are in your program okay sorry um I think the first meeting we had about 27 total I think on average because a lot of the girls they do what I want them to do they get involved in their school we usually have about 15 on average for every monthly meeting that we have I know people have family events and they get involved is what I want them to do so that little birdie Fly Away thing is what I want to do for my girls so that's what I want for them [Applause] I lost my place agenda because we
have a picture up here oh okay and we haven't even done the consensus and once then it'll be you'll be going to switch it to it once they get don't shake your hands I'll go ahead and put these this could be where Mr Rick shepler yes yes yeah that's why I was going to stand here and say it uh-huh we would like to thank officer Harris and the women of power program and our young people that was not too ashamed to stand up and talk right now we're going to try to move on with our program with Rich shepler he's on the program three times so he's going to come up and introduce those three foreign thank you president Williams Dr Hansen members of the board I'm able to introduce a couple young people that
have done tremendous things here in Warren Township and will continue to do wonderful things when they go off to the next phase of their life is Marina bogotov here Marine she's at a concert I knew okay she's also at a orchestra concert so is uh Adrian Montes but I'm going to talk just a little bit about these two individuals Marina we mentioned a little bit about the set a good example Ward banquet this past Sunday she was my principal's award for leadership she's she's been a member of National Honor Society National Art Honor Society and for the past three years and is currently ranked in the top three of her graduating class not three percent but top three of her graduating class her academic success was recognized when she recently was named Indiana's academic Regional
All-Star recipients by the Indiana Association of school principals and they were honored down at the uh in the Indiana Roof Ballroom she also is very successful in the classroom obviously this student is a member of Warren Central's cross country and track teams so she's also very gifted athletically Orchestra like we mentioned you know it's tough to find a night that there's nothing uh nothing else going on but she's over there performing as we speak and she's an AP art student a member of tri-m and a future Indiana University graduate uh now this is incredible she her artistic ability awarded her the chance to illustrate a children's book and become a published artist by her sophomore year which she received a gold mom's Choice Award for illustration so again Talent is everywhere with this young lady
and I want to read this quote by a teacher because it sums it up the best and I wish she was able to be here to speak to all of us I know our school board you were you were able to hear her on Sunday and she was just remarkable one of her teachers summarized this student perfectly in a world where everything is on display she is the epitome of modesty and Grace she was not made to fit in but born to stand out and a lady through and through she is intelligent talented driven and destined for greatness so again Marina bogotov and I'm sure you'll be hearing from her in the future next young man who is also performing over at the pack right now in the orchestra concert Adrian Montez now Adrian Montes
is currently ranked number one number one in his class and he will be honored obviously at our commencement um on June 2nd he received and he'll be taking his talents to Butler University so not too far away and I hope that he comes back to us as well he received the Jack Kent cook Foundation scholarship now a lot of our kids have won have been awarded scholarships but I want to read it to you about what this what this is about the Jack Kent cook Foundation was announced this past year and he was one of the recipients that were chosen from a pool of more than 5 300 candidates of across all 50 states across the District of Columbia Puerto Rico Guam the Virgin Islands and American Samoa the Cook College scholar receives up to
fifty five thousand dollars annually for up to four years to attend the college or university of their choice in addition to comprehensive advising and other program support so with that they're going to be paying him to go to college and do whatever he wants to do and believe me he is going to be one special individual and I'm sure we'll again be hearing about Adrian Montes [Applause] now this next group of young men and women they continue to win Awards literally all over the world and I know that we're mentioning you know we need to take our show on the road they they yes they they do and they win it's incredible I I received a call from Ed meccus there are our Performing Arts director and we had a situation where they were in
Washington D.C and they could not perform I believe because they're two inches of snow they were one one inches still okay one inch of snow and we're going are you kidding me we went all that way to perform so that we could get to the worlds is that correct yes and so I get this frantic call from Ed mackus and he goes hey Mr Chevrolet we you know here's the situation well I gotta check with Dr Hansen first and foremost and then also Ryan Russell but man I don't see why we can't drive two and a half hours down to what was it North Carolina somewhere to perform so that we can get entered into our world championships which we just blew them away in North Carolina but this group again incredible our Winter Guard
again they win year after year after year and it's because of the leadership and just the talent that we have in this District so Mr meccus if you could come on up and introduce these young people I'd greatly appreciate it shall I introduce everyone that we have here today all right um I can't see you all can you guys like move across the front a little bit more this is Athena and Kendra Eli Layla and Maddie Trinity Jocelyn Brooklyn Amaya Izzy Lauren jannica Abby Jordan Jace Kennedy and Joanna and these are some of the members of the Warren Central World guard if you'll welcome them with me and uh the Warren Central World guard is the Premier or Varsity group here in Warren Township and they are actually that top group in the country's largest
winter Color Guard program with 121 members across four teams they've made some tremendous accomplishments this season this year they won their 14th and 10th consecutive Tri-State Championship out of the top guards in Indiana Ohio and Kentucky uh [Applause] uh this year at the Winter Guard International World Championship Finals uh they uh placed eighth and that was their 17th consecutive appearance in the world championships uh which is a record that is uh held here in Indiana but is only one of two groups in the entire uh country in the entire world that have qualified that many times huge accomplishment for them and at that championships they placed eight out of 3065 teams from around the entire world [Applause] and then uh we have three uh wonderful seniors that are uh leaving uh us at the end
of the school year Maddie McGrath over here uh Eli Messer and Layla Garba and Layla was also recognized as one of Winter Guard International's distinguished Scholars where she received a scholarship at the world championships [Applause] uh so uh we thank you for allowing us to uh share this uh these students and their amazing talents with you and we have a short video clip from their World Championships performances to show you foreign [Music] all right [Music] of such I dream my world [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] ladies and gentlemen the Warren Central World Garden [Applause] follow Joanna Joanne foreign great is that right now graduation well we're moving right along I know that we have a lot on our agenda tonight but oh I tell you I'm just so excited about all this Talent so we're going
to move on while they're exiting and have Dr Steve Rogers to come forward foreign guys let's go yes yes stand here if you like oh that looks so nice is Digi speaking tonight okay awesome awesome all right president Williams Dr Hanson members of the board um very proud here director Walker Career Center tonight to bring home bring to you our digital goats robotics team the 2022 state champion digital goats robotic team very excited about that yeah so um I'm gonna let their head coach Mr Craig Harvey take it from here all right so we have a short video here in just a minute but just kind of describe how the season went we went from a season last year where we had like two members one a senior one a freshmen we brought an 8th
grader up from Creston we were it was all virtual so we we grew and we had our first call out and we had like 20 students show up and we're like this is what we're gonna do and they had no idea because they'd never seen it we had one person that ever been to a competition before no idea what this was all about about 15 of them stuck with us through the fall and through build season we started in January where we got the game and we met every Friday Saturday and Sunday from then until worlds was over in April building and working and perfecting our robot and competing we went to a competition in Kokomo made the playoffs in that competition then we went to Lafayette made the playoffs there qualified for the state
competition at Rose Holman and Terre Haute uh qualified as sixth we were picked as a part of the third seat Alliance so we played three on three so we have two other schools with us in an alliance and um that's where we won the state championships so in this video you're going to see the finals so in this two minute clip is about an hour of robot playing and you don't get that Agony of waiting for the score to appear after the match so more um thinking about it thinking about it's better Bueller here's that waiting definitely used to be waiting okay so introduce everybody all right so um I'm gonna have them just go down the line and if you want to say your name what grade you're in they're all almost we have
two Juniors and the rest are all freshmen and sophomores so we have a young team so we have Olivia and then pretty good I'm one of the Juniors then we have a great group of mentors uh Mr Griffin Mr Armstrong both teachers then we have um Ron and Claudia lagler Dave Shelton and then Ellie um I'll help out throughout the season a couple more that aren't here tonight um oh and Julie Julie helps us out tremendously we wouldn't eat without Julie [Applause] so okay can I say something now are you done I'm done yeah you can say something if you can get that thing you might stop it and try it again I don't know so I'm gonna I'm gonna add a little bit these guys while the mentors do an amazing job um working
with these kids but um I want here we go watch the cargo fly should be probably the biggest autonomous build we've seen for these two so we're on the blue side or that gold robot at the top of the screen and championship oh one rope for the top it's not gonna do a lot of good but get some points there's really three points but that's a lot but final seconds and it looks like this is going to be a win for the red in final number one again it's best of three I'd say just to replay it don't even do that but that's not the rules so the win goes to Blue after the red card given to the rest or that cargo bands just like I said one minute to play 50-38 you see
the referees counting down pins when robots get pinned you get five seconds they have to back obviously John County down there and we will head to a I don't know 31-47 isn't moving hope they get reconnected because that's a lot of points in that drivers they provide it is pouring it on though 31-47 that's the robot from Munster not moving on the left side blue is going to try to take advantage of that all right guys we have no way no no down to the final five seconds blue with more robots in the hanger Zone can 74-57 get up just in time I think they did but I don't know if it's gonna be enough [Applause] foreign [Applause] that is the digital goats Galactic and Robo Blazers okay so so I'm gonna I'm gonna talk
I'm gonna I'm gonna take my um one of my perks and I'm going to talk a little bit um you know first robotics they say it's not all about the robot the kids love building the robot they love everything to do with that but it's not all about the robots it's not all about the robots it's not all about the robots it's about teamwork these kids learn to work together they learn to cooperate they figure out who can do what and they build on each other's strengths they get a little flustered and they one may get really flustered and the others will come and calm them down it's like working at a company at an engineering firm there they they have to learn how to do this this is the best applied technology thing I've
ever seen I I just they a robot comes off it's broken and they have two matches to figure out what it is to fix it and get their robot back out there because it's not just them that they're going to cause a problem if they're not there it's two other teams that are working with them this is this is a sport of the mind okay they really have to use their heads and figure things out it's played on a court you saw that it's about the size of a basketball court not quite and they have two other teams that they've never worked with before that will end up being their partners for the playoffs so um they they have to learn how to um meet these groups and figure out who's got the best this
and who's got the best and how are we going to Okay so we've got two teams that do really well with their autonomous which one is going to be the one that does it and and they all want their team to do it you know but they have to figure out what's going to be best for their Alliance to help them win it is when when my son came home his freshman year and told me he was going to be on a robot on robotics he was all excited oh great you know I'm going to be this beautiful mom and I'm gonna I'm gonna support him but I went to the first it was a cage match which is an off season match and I fell in love with it because these kids they're they
don't just build a robot you know they they learn teamwork they learn how to cooperate with each other they learn it's it's cool and and I so much encourage you if there is one in Indianapolis and I think there may be one in Indianapolis next year I'm hearing possibly I hope keep my fingers crossed I want you all to come and watch it because it really is the neatest thing um I love these kids they start out pretty shy and and they're you know they're smart kids you know they're um they're nerds and I'm one of them um and and they um not only blossom in their educational aspect they blossom in their social aspect too they they are quiet at first and then you see their personal personalities blah blah um who can tell
me what this is these are Chris weren't they what broke up finals yeah well many of them yeah but what are they okay and and why do I have so many broken ones in my hand because [Laughter] finalities yeah Robbie here is very he comes out quite well when he needs to he's one of our drivers and um he's very good at it um as you can tell um so I have a lot of broken robot parts so just so you know um we get sponsors to help sponsor our robotics team and thank you to some of you who have signed up for a 100 Club we appreciate it but um these uh Craig let me know if I'm wrong are about 40 each yeah something like that yeah and and these aren't the only
ones we've gone through this season so um these are about 150-ish 189 189 um and I don't know how much these this is but I just want to show you we have put on so many and Ellie noses so many Treads because they all the our robot takes it the hard way out there um we have sponsors that we get to help sponsor us but I have to say our the people that give us the biggest support not only financially but um cheering us on the whole way is the Walker Career Center and Steve Rogers so they very much we really appreciate because these kids they take what they learn in class and they're in their classes but then they learn a lot from these adults all standing around and Ron lagler where are you
at I we had something break and I can't remember what it was oh I think it was our our thing that held our robot our battery in place wasn't it yeah and and he took I think it was was it Freddy that yeah okay um and Freddie had never used a hat is it a hacksaw right and and so oh was it Bobby okay okay it was Bobby I can't I couldn't remember who it was anyway so uh he taught him how to use a hacksaw and he very calmly patiently stood there with him while he was doing that and teaching him how to how to do that and and our robot our our battery broke out I don't remember why it was one of the many times we were smashed by another robot I
think but um he I love watching him with the kids I love watching them all but I really love watching him with kids because he's just so calm and he just tells them how to do it he shows them and then he lets them do it and he watches over them and I just love it it's just very calming to my soul in that case so um what else to say these kids are amazing these adults are amazing and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate and we had I'll tell you every time I take a position it gets taken away from me I was the programming mentor well the last time we really had a season now I'll tell you my my knowledge for programming they have a problem and say okay what
have you done that sounds good did it work no okay try something else because I have no programming knowledge whatsoever okay it was kind of just given to me as a title so I could have a title you know um and we have a programmer program programming Mentor now who's actually pretty good at it so thank you Mr Armstrong um and and so we it's the neat thing about robotics is they um it's it's meant for kids to get to work with professionals and so we have teacher professionals and we have engineering professionals and and just everything electrical people and and and they work with the kids and the kids get to see what it's like working with it's just really cool it's just really really cool so I I will go ahead and stop
this now because I know you're probably thinking go away Julie but um I love this and I love these kids and I'm so glad we don't have any seniors because I want to see you all back next year I want y'all bring a friend okay all right [Applause] I'm sorry one more thing I have to say um there's a thing called gracious professionalism in robotics too and that's where um teams get to pick a team and the teams pick out the person the the team that represents this to them and the the people go around and and they help out you know if they have they need something they go and ask hey do you have this and and we always share you know everybody shares all the teams share and if they know somebody
needs help with programming oh we've got a good program in or let's have him go help you or whatever you know um but my in our own little team I have to say the person that I don't know if it's really right for gracious professionalism or not but the most nicest person to help me out with anything and always ask me can I help you carry that can I take that for you um [Applause] you know how you have no idea how how much it means when you're you're I'm not going to say how old but pretty old and and you have boxes and boxes of stuff to carry in and she sees you and she says can I help you and it's just very nice and she does it all the time so tell
your mom that Mrs French thought you were amazing tonight and mentioned that and she should Pat you on the back and give you anything you want okay all right thank you guys very much I just wanted to say uh before you start around as you can see Julie is really passionate about this group and you know I've never seen her talk as long so she's excited about this group so she really love you and young people look at the adults that's standing behind you they are your support they are here they're excited about working with you so I'm proud of you just keep up the good work almost out but more kids there's more down the road destroyed we apparently didn't retire d all right yeah maybe I don't know they only brought it yes
yes thank you it's only about 500 bucks that's awesome these gifts I gave you all a broken piece of robot so you can do what you with it what you want you can cherish it forever or you can throw it away and I when I don't see you or you can put it as a um Dr Hansen I gave you the very expensive paperweight if you would like this I have some micro bits that we can try and see what that can help with wow this has been a very exciting evening oh I am still on cloud nine uh well let me try to float down so we can finish this agenda uh public comments do we have any yellow cards uh Lashana not at this time president Burke I mean who are you president
I know that's okay [Laughter] okay we're ready now for the consent agenda which is going to uh consist of approval of minutes financial report with the payroll claim Financial reports with claim register year-to-date summary of fund balances Human Resources report field trip requests permission to accept gifts and grants change orders and use of school property can I have a mug I would like to make the motion by Terry and second by Lashana okay is if not can we have a vote sorry I [Music] I Mr Dennis hi okay great it passes okay now we're going to move on to reports and starting off with Dr Hudson good evening board um as I have every month the school year bringing to you our most recent coveted data we have seen a small uptick in cases here
in our schools as we have seen across Marion County and the state at this time I did not make any recommendations for change as we end the school year thank you Dr Hansen now we will have Marcus Clayton with construction update oh one of my apologies we have we have Mr Russell for a special announcement okay sorry president Williams Dr Hansen members of the board with your approval of the consent agenda tonight you did approve a new administrator uh for next year so this time I would like to ask Dr Todd naylon to join me at the podium all right so um we're officially announcing Dr nalon as principal of Creston Intermediate Middle School next for uh the 22-23 school year so [Applause] president Williams and Dr Hansen and the entire board as a privilege
and honor to be able to serve here in MSD Warren Township I'm excited I look forward to working with everybody [Applause] [Laughter] thank you and now we will have Marcus Clayton president Williams Dr Hansen members of the board and to our Warren Township families I want to present to you the May edition of inside Warren construction update and as always our goal is to invest in efficiencies and maintain Financial stability I got a question for you what do you know about the far East Side hmm what do hard-working Blue Collar people know about the Finer Things in life well I'll tell you more than most you see the strongest people aren't always the people who win but the people who don't give up when they lose at hard work determination and resiliency a can't fold
won't fold mindset and a heart of Steel that we call Warren will we are a community built on love strength struggle and most importantly e -side Pride if you can make it a warrant then you can make it anywhere that's who we are that's our story now it's probably not the one you've been reading in the papers the one being written by folks who have never even been here don't know what we're capable of because data and analytics tell us who we are but it does not tell us what we can be now we're from Indianapolis but this is at the North side South Side west side and we're certainly no one's pushover this is Warren Township the pride of the east side Dr Hansen and distinguished members of the board welcome to the May
edition of inside Warren as we take a look at the many construction projects currently taking place here throughout Warren Township Schools now if you look over my right shoulder you can see the new East Side Landmark The Relic you know you're on the east side but in actuality you're on the west side of Warren Central High School but here at the roundabout we just installed about a little bit of over a month ago the new Warren w so I'm going to run over here and get my picture talking with it yeah it's been about a month since last time we were together so to get caught up on everything going on at the high school we want to bring in our man our construction manager from Skillman Tracy Hittle Tracy if you could come right
over here how you doing sir all right man it is beautiful out here we when we first started this member it was back in the winter time it was cold but now summer is upon us so if you could just kind of give us uh some insight of what we're going to see today well I think we already looked at door 18 and 21 complete so we're going to move to the Hall of Fame from here in the background behind us they're finishing the top coat asphalt on the west Lots should be done today strike tomorrow and then their Landscaping seating I see that and then also along with the Landscaping I see some new trees going up that's great and then I know there's been some action at door one and in the career
center as well since last time we were with you it's almost all completely demolished at this point all right so sit back relax and enjoy inside Warren as we take a look at the heights welcome back we are outside door 25 on the west side of Warren Central High School you could see the Performing Arts Center right behind me but this here this entrance is the location of the brand new soon to be open Warren Central athletic Hall of Fame all right Tracy let's check out the new Warren Central athletic Hall of Fame and the progress that we've made so Tracy as we take a look at this obviously we have a lot of noise right now because we're getting in some of the critical phases of this project but thus far tell us about
the progress we've been able to make on the new side of the Hall of Fame we just came in through obviously the storefront glass is complete the Mechanical plumbing electrical overhead drop-ins are all complete I'm in the process of finishing drywall and painting and next week we're going to start putting ceiling grid drop the ceiling Grid in there and lights so we also have to travel floor going down the terrazole flooring we're going to take it to this stage right here until everyone else is done then we're going to come in grind and polish it while cleaning ladies are in here so there's no damage to impressive it's nice and shiny looks good for the finished product well I know the the windows the storefronts those things look amazing what are some of the challenges
that we have that are that are left here with this project and when can we expect this project to be complete by the end of May we will be real close except for the terrazzo floor okay well I'm gonna have to give them 15 working days which will be three weeks all to himself so grinding polish it um thank you so in my hand is one of the original bricks which we will make available for alumni as well as our supporters we have stack of these this is this is tradition Tracy right here okay this is my little piece here but nevertheless the last time we were here was in March you guys were just fencing everything off and getting ready for the demolition phase what is transpired since March since the last time you
were here the underground attention ponds got completed the new storm site utilities are in progress they've actually came from the pond for over to the career center almost we started demolition the exterior of the building four worn canopies darn door three canopies gone so 72 they're going 71 all the tunnels and then over to the career center all the exterior demolitions Tracy so we're standing in what will be the new threshold the student-led restaurant that's been a pillar here in the career center for decades but this is the new area here so if we continue to walk just like we had before there's the door 70 entrance back here to my right right across here this will be the location of the new administrative offices here as you can see it's framed and then as
we walk back this way back down this hallway this is still part of the threshold The Culinary area where the students will work from that area right next to it as you can see framed here this is going to be the new LGI area um looks like it's gonna be pretty big space for our students and our staff to utilize and then finally as we walk down this hallway we have our new fax area backslab facts area did we pretty much hit everything right now yeah okay we are back at Pleasant Run Elementary here checking in with the man our construction manager Patrick Patrick how you doing sir fantastic sir and you I'm doing well so we haven't seen you since March and we are standing right outside of the new gymnasium I know the
students the staff community members are excited about this Edition so if you could kind of take us through exactly where we're at right now okay this room right here is an individual restroom for the gym basically a family restaurant there's two more around the corner and this the gentleman here is putting down the epoxy floor system right now tile walls are already done so we're good on that part and then we still have the as I call them gang restroom from the old time but now it's multi-use yeah yeah so on both sides of that we're going to have drinking fountains and this is going to be the boys side and over here will be the girl side for the restrooms so that and I think there's going to be six units in each one
okay so we have plenty of space for that which of course is straight across from the gym okay so this is the gym I love the brick as well it's very consistent yeah um right now it's a high humidity that's why the floor is wet it's not a leak it's just high humidity outside right now getting in here until we get the system up and running and what has this project been like in terms of just the timeline the challenges so on and so forth because you guys work through winter to get this to get this up yes and we're getting really close to doing most of the finishes on it now we are going to hold off on the floor and the bleachers okay because we're going to use this for storage for the
school when we do all the corridors so stage doors everything else come on we just won't do this so yeah we've got the stage here as well that stuff is already painted we're up here doing some fire caulking on the system and really what we got those are going up to the playground those doors on the West End wow what's taking place here in the cafeteria first all right right now we started out just taking off the ceiling but we're gonna start running all the duct work because we're emptying that mezzanine took all the older Air Handlers out putting a new one in and this really didn't have much of an Air Supply that's what we're putting in uh this right here is just a tunnel so we get the food through without dust in
the kitchen so we're still able to serve our students every day from the cafeteria yes they're eating in their rooms right now but awesome they're enjoying it that's awesome welcome back my name is Phil barchefski I've been out here at Lowell the whole time and we're coming towards the end now so it's looking good uh the Sun's shining weather's cooperating this week so uh we're getting it done out here and like boys and men said we're we're coming near the end of the road right okay so last time we were here in March this is the administrative offices this was in demolition phase it was a big mess so just starting here if you could tell us exactly where we're at and just what this how this new main office administrative area is shaped up
okay as you know in school security is a big deal so we've added a new entrance Door all from the vestibule so when it's someone comes to the building they'll get buzzed in and they're right here where I'm standing will be the new reception desk with reception ladies to my left and they will not be able to get anywhere else from this area until they get buzzed out or someone come gets them so it's a lot more secured we added a whole new door here so it's a whole big different layout so this would be called like the waiting area for any parents that are waiting to pick up their kids and then the reception is here so everything will come through them they'll get buzzed in and they'll get buzzed out if they're allowed
to go over the building so a little tighter security now here and the reception desk would just be a long desk right up front so we'll have the receptionist right behind me right in front of me and this would be all part of their office space behind them so uh we all go to the principal's office we'll be next to them and in the dean and then that's where reactive office space this is what it's all about right here at Grassy Creek Elementary you see this poster that was made by some of the students here thank you construction crew that is awesome all right so probably the major project that will take place this summer is the transformation of the administrative offices if you recall we have the cafeteria which is still accessible for now
will be accessible to the end of the school year but then where this area that's blocked off now this was this is what used to be our our main office so this is under renovation so we have an opportunity to come back sometime this summer you'll get to see the transformation of the administrative offices they'll get started on the cafeteria again this summer installing some of those HVAC components so yeah we continue to make great progress here at Grassy Creek all right any questions no question but a comment it was great when the W went up too yes I love that W yeah you need to get over and get your picture taken that would be a good idea uh we were given all of our hard hats so it would be nice if all
the board members and and Tim we you could meet us over there and we could all stand in front of that W and take a great picture yeah I was notified by the construction team I need to turn my vest orange so um next update I'll be wearing orange vest yeah we're in contact with Adidas right now to get that taken care of okay okay can you just give me some directions on the roundabout the blinds for me because I get so lost I was going in circles for 15 minutes on the roundabout okay yeah just yeah just just go right and just keep on just keep going just keep on going well let's go just start going right it looks very nice yeah great job with the Hall of Fame that is uh yeah
and uh Mr parkis and I we've learned real quick that we call those soft finish dates um hopefully they'll re they'll be ready to turn it over to section 127 which they'll handle the uh the signage and the the next phase of that we're hoping probably sometime in early June well from what I've seen tonight we're probably going to have those those group of young ladies there um at the the ribbon but yes we but I would say the the first hopefully the first ribbon cutting ceremony will be a low yeah because we're we're coming to the end of the road there uh from what they share with us they're looking at uh mid to late June to to fully turn Lowell over that that will be exciting for the high school how many years
you got okay so right now um soft soft turnover is uh for let's talk about door one uh probably the spring of 23. late spring of 23 around May for the career center door 70 closer to February of 23. I would imagine once we get closer to completion we probably can establish that deadline yeah but we're getting the plaque ready for Lowell that matter of fact that that one's already ordered yeah um were you were talking about the LGI room in the career center is that the old office area was that the old office area so um what is that was that w301 I believe yeah that's the old w301 area so yeah they've they've expanded that okay um as well as the office they're getting they're with it framed they're getting ready to put
the drywall up so probably by July that's going to look a lot different that's coming along because if you recall um you know under Dr Rogers leadership they they decided to start a little bit sooner back in the the late fall so that's why they're a little bit ahead there yeah as usual I am just so fascinated by all your little videos keep them coming great job at this time we're going to have Rich shepler to come back with WCHS year in review president Williams Dr Hansen and members of the board it gives me great pleasure to be up here again to go over um just a wonderful year this past year basically getting back in the groove of things um and when we look at what we were focusing on this year would be
the tie in directly into the five pillars of the Strategic plan and the first one as you can see the investing in relationships with families in the community starting out the year for the first time in two years bringing back our families and meeting with our families in a packed House of in our West cafeteria in the Freshman Academy so in person onboarding especially with our incoming freshmen and really we we basically had two freshman classes because they were not familiar with the high school the first two years our freshmen and sophomores so we're really trying to onboard both 10th or both ninth and 10th graders and also their families so being able to do that in person was just huge we I mean it gave you chills to see everybody back in the cafeteria
as you can see up on the top picture there uh Trent beaudine new assistant principal and his team kind of put this together and did a fantastic job with that and as we started out this this year we had you know we still had coveted issues so when it came to parent-teacher conferences we did hold them virtually and we found that we had a great turnout for that because our families our our parents and Guardians they were able to continue working at all hours but if they were able to take a break they were able to hop on with the teacher utilizing those 15 or so 20 minutes on break from work so that they can connect with the school so we had rave reviews from teachers and parents starting this year with our with
our virtual uh conferences so that's something that we need to continue along with in-person conferences so giving them that option to do so again with our PTSA the initiatives that they continue to work with us with work with our teachers in incredible this year the the connection that they have made with all of us new this year our family engagement Liaisons they've they've been wonderful connecting families to the high school and you know there's just a lot of information a lot of things that as you hand to students maybe they don't make it home but to be able to have family engagement Liaisons to make sure that those that information is getting to our families because they're driving it to our families they're getting it in their hands so that that has been huge we've
had a number of nights or College Planning type nights invested College Planning FAFSA assistant nights which I mean that to fill out those FAFSA forms you definitely need some assistance with that those are very detailed also the journey to the high school again Trent Bodine kind of put this together for incoming freshmen that and also parents and Guardians to make sure that they're getting a good on boarding as well and we we're going to do that again this fall we did it this spring but this fall we really wanted to hit our parents and and families in the fall so that you know when it comes time to making decisions about where they're going to go next year we want to make sure that they understand the only places Warren Central and Walker Career Center
so and all the opportunities that that our students have and you know it's second to none so so that was a excellent night also we continue to connect with with our our families and and students with weekly cohort newsletters and school newsletters um and then also transition newsletters transition newsletters because we have our assistant principals and Associate principal that are going to be remaining with their with their cohort their class so they were able to now like with with uh Miss Brown she sent her welcome letter to the Juniors for next year's senior so making that connection right there and Trent beaudine with the Freshman he's already sent out numerous connections with and and newsletters to his eighth graders and their families coming in next we have invest in meeting the needs of the whole
child this right here I I have to thank you guys so much uh and I'll get to it in just a second but with the counseling piece I guess I'm going to jump ahead right the ability to have four more counselors to be able to hit and touch our students is incredible I'm going to jump down to the bottom real quick increasing counseling touch points has now obviously you know the school year 2020-21 you know you look at semester one visits and these are one-on-one visits with students it had 50 543 now yeah we were still dealing with covet issues but 10 times that amount this past first semester of this year 10 times and that is a direct connection correlation to the four additional counselors that you know have cut the case loads I
mean completely down so that they're able to have one-on-one connections with their students also the implementation of the social social and emotional learning and digital citizenship that we have every uh Tuesday we have blocked out second period additional 30 minutes again meeting the needs of the whole child being able to you know touch base and and talk about things that might be going on at home might be going on in their life and that it's just a wonderful program rave reviews from our teachers in regards to that we mentioned earlier and saw some pictures and you see it right here at the Indiana Roof the prom and president Williams I know I I saw you as soon as you walked in and I know you were so excited this is not only uh it gives
you such pride in seeing our kids you know decked out and just the ladies and gentlemen that they I mean they are and you could just see it I mean just radiate throughout that whole entire Ballroom it was wonderful I think the adults missed the prom just as much as the kids truly because it it was it was fabulous love it and and missed it greatly and then programs that we were able to bring with the counselors small groups one example bring change to mind a small group that is held and also those counselors were able to lead small groups and Lead lessons in classrooms because we because of those additional four counselors that we were able to to receive so I I want to thank you guys uh very much for that next investing
in people investing in people and this is one of the biggest things that I really enjoyed we I had my teacher advisory meetings over 50 participants and and to be able to connect with teachers and understand you know from from new teachers and what they're dealing with and what they need and we're able to really focus in on on those needs and and assist those those new teachers along with the veteran teachers and and so we had a number of those meetings with them throughout the year I mentioned again that the family engagement Liaisons the weekly one-on-one meetings for new teachers our department chairs were able to meet one-on-one every week with new teachers throughout the year so that has you know paid dividends you know helping out with you know things like you know
they were wondering you know how do you get those copies made well you know just basic things you don't even think about until you know they're they're in it so to be able to meet one-on-one with them and take care of all of their needs has been very very helpful um the the and then also meeting monthly with the uh the veteran teachers uh their the department chairs were able to do that as well um also professional development and AP uh AP training for our teachers we continue to you know meet their needs that way the teaching and learning updates that that go out that I send out to all of our teachers um and also again the PTSA you know helping out in numerous ways from cookouts to you know uh coffee bars whatever
the uh the teacher of the year uh if you look up here in the in the middle right there uh our teacher of the year was Beth Hensley that's she's been with us for a while and she's just done a fabulous job also the support staff of the Year and that uh Chris stockoff one of our custodians that just helps out whenever he's called upon does a great job and then over here on the far left Iselle Moore he's the new teacher of the year but actually he's a counselor for us and he has done a fabulous job and can't thank those people enough and then you know all the things that we did for teacher appreciation week that were you know investing in people so um Mr Clayton I did uh did a fabulous
job with the invest uh in investment in efficiencies um as we mentioned the W there and I know that that's going to be a hot item uh come uh graduation we're going to have a number of kids flocking around that area so I hope we have some green grass growing there before that um so that they're not standing in that dirt but I I mean that's just fabulous it's so impressive coming in off of 18th Street to see that you know exactly where you are that's for sure um and then Lots four and five that those are the two lots on the on the west side and Miss Burke you were talking about yeah just you'll get used to it as you come in and I was out there for a a while I think
I saw you a number of times um they're getting the hang of it and it it it's really working very very well um then also opening Door 18 and 21 over there on the west side and basically door 21 is now our new entryway and the parents and and Guardians are are really you know able to access and get in and get out a lot more efficiently than when we're trying to put everybody on on the roundabout there or the on the circle in door one that's for sure um the multi-purpose field I should have asked I think uh Ed mackus is gone they just practice on the he had the band out there for the first time this week practicing on the multi multi-purpose field over there by 16th Street and he said it's
just fabulous so there you'll be in for some more state championships with our band that's for sure they just love it in the Hall of Fame nearing completion um and I think Tracy was saying Mr Clayton correct me if I'm wrong but taking 15 days for that flooring so that'll be like it'll probably run into June a little bit to get that cured and everything so and then also phase two the construction's underway as you can see there in the front with the everything's just basically basically cut off of that what we found out during the uh the school day we had to make some in-flight Corrections um as you can see this bottom picture down here where we put the carpeting and all the matting right there to keep kids off the competition gym
because we've been closing down hallways left and right and I really feel for our kids but they're doing a fabulous job getting a class on time and and doing what they need to but we had to open up this became because we're we're jamming everybody down one hallway and one hallway only that's all we had coming from the Freshman Academy into the high school and and all eventually to the career center so we had to open up the South gym and have that nice walkway to relieve that and that's that's done a very nice job kids are doing a great job with that um next invest in the future of our graduates the Journey of a graduate and this is extremely important and as you can see we had a number of uh items here
with with senior Fest and this is uh in conjunction with Laura buckright from our central office here that helped us out with this to enroll and list employ employment opportunities for our seniors also we had a college application day cohort College and Career presentations jog Capstone projects that's taking the place of the traditional final exams where you just sit down and bubble in thing these these projects and kids love them I I've talked with um my student advisory kids and as a matter of fact they just mentioned this because they've already started on their jog projects and presenting them and they just they love that so much more I don't know if you know Hannah West going to John Hopkins and that's the way they do that at the at the next level truly um
many many uh institutions doing that and she just loves it and it's preparing them for those future uh projects also another thing I want to mention uh the student advisory they kept coming back every one of them said the touch points with our counselors and I'm I'm kind of going off but touch points with our counselors have been just remarkable for them so again with the addition of the the four new counselors huge our got program graduate on on Time program we have right now 17 students that have been able to catch up and earn their high school equivalency right now 17 got them back on track and they'll be graduating with us on June 2nd 22 are in the queue so they're they're working right now to you know finalize you know that that
and hopefully we have 22 more who are going to be able to complete that and hopefully by June 2nd um Gear Up tutoring and support that has been brought by former teachers one Pam Bailey headed that up from Purdue it's a partnership with Purdue and they you know really are just surrounding our kids with tutoring and just a lot of additional support um also with interest during intercessions and super Saturdays also the the Community Partners Republic Airways and 1150 Academy they gave wonderful presentations for to a number of our students in the Performing Arts Center you know just another connection with our kids if if our if our students aren't going on to you know two or four-year institutions a lot of opportunities there and and they're getting access to that um at the end
here I would really like to congratulate the class of 2022 because of what they've been through I mean no one knows real truly what what that class has been through and they have showed shown resilience and perseverance and just the dedication to continue to hammer it out and just like those kids that you know they set a good example banquet are the top 30 banquet are these digital goat young men and women I mean they just continue continue doing great things even though so many things have been thrown their way so I just again I mean June 2nd that's going to be a tough day for me um so you know 13 years that these students have been in in school basically 2 340 school days countless hours of hard work and please look at
that amount of money and that right there is a true actual amount we're talking from you know academic to athletic over nine million dollars nine million dollars in scholarship opportunities uh 21st century and those kids are calculated in there as well so that's it's phenomenal what they continue to do here's here's some pictures with our senior top 30 banquet um and again it was just wonderful to see and to hear on the videos from our kids that recognize so many wonderful teachers and wonderful things that are going on in the classroom and also coaches that are going on you know on the field or court or whatever track but just a lot of great Educators along with wonderful wonderful students and there's the list of the top 30. graduates and then we have eight early
graduates so these were normally they started their career as uh uh 20 2023 grads but now these eight individuals they're going to be graduating on June 2nd with the with the Junior with with their with the senior class of 2022 so they have really gotten after it then we have a number of Department winners that we we have recognized and then also uh scholar athletes that we've recognized and then I know that everybody saw this on Sunday but Quinn scholar um and that's Marina bogotov my principal leadership Award winners and and Quinn is going to Wabash College and like I said earlier uh Marina is going to Indiana University so and that would be my presentation he won't have any questions I really liked um how you put um the date or the days the
number of days um with covet I think a lot of people don't realize how many days the last events have been or I just think it really puts things in perspective yeah and how many days they were staring at a screen like this instead of having an interaction like I mean that that's tough I just want to say it's amazing how many great things you have going on for our students in the high school I just love the fact of all the support that's being given the counseling going into the classrooms doing presentations so you know I think that that's going to be something great for the students moving forward and hopefully when we get in the newspaper it'll be good things on how our students are achieving and how well they're doing in the
schools instead of the negative things that you hear on the news so continue doing what you do because I think it's great thank you very much thank you foreign if there's no other questions I noticed that he brought up a video that says invest in relationships but we have Janine tippleman that's going to come and continue with that topic thank you try again okay good evening president Williams Dr Hansen members of the board I am excited to share with you a snapshot of marketing and Communications and what that looks like in the district um no um this is consistent with the board goal to seek the involvement and participation of the entire community and the learning process and the Strategic Plan Focus area there are a couple I'll cover tonight but the first one will
be investing in efficiencies and as that relates to communication and marketing Communications and marketing we do that by implementing clear Communications processes launching effective tools and utilizing a variety of communication formats with the goal of increasing engagement with our Target audiences as well as establishing a consistent experience that's truly reflective of the pride of the east side um during the uh going back to the strategic planning process you will recall during our town hall meetings we heard consistently consistently that communication was an opportunity for improvement within the district and we utilized that as a jumping off point to really talk to our community to our staff to our students to find out what does improving Communications really look like and you'll recall that I shared at the time that what we heard from them is
that there was a need for centralized information that they want it in their preferred channels although there was not a consistent Preferred channel Some people prefer texts Some people prefer email Some people prefer app we also found the need for two-way translation to make sure that we were reaching all families as well as a need to prioritize two-way communication not just the district communicating to staff and families but also providing that opportunity for two-way communication and feedback loops and so our solution to that was parent Square which we implemented at the beginning of this school year very very proud of the work of that's happened across the entire District not only in central office but with building leaders and with teachers who have really taken on this new communications platform and parents I should mention
as well and caregivers they've really embraced this new communications platform and learned a new way of doing things to centralize our info our information and so it's been great one of the things from my desk that is really interesting to me is we now have the ability to Monitor and measure how we're doing with communication and that's really important because we can always grow and improve in addition working on the website since this time last year we have launched a new version of our content management system and new layout it is we call it a website but it's actually like 20 websites it's a work in progress and as we continue to prioritize updating content and giving our website a new look and feel I know that we'll continue to be able to engage with
our audiences in a really important way which is our website additionally we have taken great strides to implement clear Communications processes throughout the district starting at central office we engaged Dr Hansen is great about sending out a weekly superintendent update on Wednesdays followed by a weekly internal Communications update that goes to leaders that is tiered in what we're communicating so it comes from central office there is important information that our leaders need to know there's also a section that's important information that and by leaders I should specify building leaders there is important information that we ask building leaders to communicate to staff within their buildings and then there's a section of what is to be communicated from family or two families that week in the weekly newsletters additionally we have consistent processes for our schools
and buildings that include weekly staff communication weekly classroom or program level communication as well as a weekly School newsletter and then finally consistent processes for our community that include again the superintendent update a monthly District newsletter as well as social media so what we found is by you know whether your child is an elementary student a middle school student or a high school student you you as a parent can consistently anticipate specific communication from your schools and that is great so I will move on now to um our second strategic plan focused area that we'll talk about is our our commitment to invest in relationships with families in the community with the goal that all of our members will have a positive perception of the district and feel invested in its success one of the
ways that we do that again is just through a variety of Communications in formats Dr Hansen likes to say 10 times 10 ways and we certainly strive to do that through email phone text app notification newsletters at the classroom school district and staff level as well as through social media utilizing our website as well as ads mailers video and of course we have the direct message feature in parent Square as well um you know we talk a lot about systems processes platforms but really it comes it comes back to people and when we tell our story it's it's really important that we focus on people one of the things I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to take pictures our our community our students our staff are just absolutely beautiful and so it's
really fun to be able to capture that behind the camera additionally under the leadership of Dennis Jarrett we have videos that are created as well as media relations Logan hunt as well through for the athletic department does a fantastic job with videos for athletics and other projects as needed and finally we are not finally we also communicate through newsletters these are some different examples of the different tiers levels of communication that we have whether it's internal Communications building newsletters staff newsletters or program newsletters uh we are very active on social media and um you know not only at the district level but at the school level the classroom level often times and through individual teachers and staff members and um I have been working towards measurement I am proud of this um in terms of
measurement through social media you can see that we are number six as we compare to some of our competitors which I don't love it is they rank that based on total page likes but what I do love about this if you look at the bottom on the far right is an engage it captures the engagement so even though we have a fraction of the followers of some of the larger districts you can see that engagement we are we are we're doing great and engagement is really what counts so as we have engaging content we will continue to grow our likes and followers and that will continue to increase additionally through the department we do a lot of graphic design whether it be for mailers or ads website banners Etc graphic design is another favorite part
of my job and finally events you know Communications is Central Communications and marketing is Central to the success of events throughout the district and so as our staff put on fabulous events it's it's a part of my role to make sure that it gets communicated so that people are there that they know about it and that it's celebrated when it's a great event so whether it be opening day legislative Forum our war and pride cleanup day open houses kickoffs food distributions all of that is kind of centralized and run through the communications and marketing department to make sure that people are aware um one thing I'm very proud of is that it's working our Panorama surveys have reflected consistent growth every single season that we've done that since we've implemented it in terms of family
to school communication and finally um it is you know just a part of who we are in Warren to partner with our community and so just some examples of that is our great relationship with the foundation with the Indy East rotary club with our ptsas the center bottom column is Junior Achievement and we have community members and organizations that we welcome into our classroom to enhance the experience for our students and we're so appreciative of those Partnerships and okay this is really the final one um alumni engagement is another thing that falls under um Communications and marketing under the leadership of Bernie silkworth who is the director of alumni engagement very proud this year we have been able to establish a alumni database so for the first time we have an actual database with a
list of names of our alumni we were able to award twenty five thousand dollars in scholarships for the alumni which is a huge growth from the Alumni Association to students this year I feel like we are the sips the systems and structures in play are in place now to be able to really take off running with the Alumni Association and that's very exciting that is it out before you go I would like to say you have addressed all kind of communication for the old the young and everybody so I love it I mean every com every communication I could think of you've covered it so um thanks for keeping our parents and our community informed great job thank you I got a question too is uh up out of this do you believe it's possible
to create a Latino parenting squirt [Music] that's a good question yes that's a great question we will definitely look into that and I will connect with you on that um are you referring to like a specific like a group within parent Square for our yeah for Latinos I'm a good idea I think I just wanted to applaud you for your graphics on the little one will you be my best driver I mean you really hit with your imagery thank you and Janine I'm happy that Dennis asked that question because we have been talking about trying to be more inclusive of the Latino community and by trying to come up with you know um language for them also I know that in the Weekly Newsletter I know Tim has added it where he uh talks about
it in English then he turned around and does it in Spanish so um yeah that's something definitely we could work on and I know thanks Dennis for bringing that up speaking in front of people but we do have the capacity within parent Square to create groups of whatever we whatever types of groups we might want to do so it's a good idea thank you Lashana do we have any green cards thank you so much Janine no president Williams we do not thank you at this time we have action items and we're going to start with Ryan he has three things he's going to talk to us about good evening president Williams Dr Hanson last month I brought for discussion the establishment of Warren Online Academy as a a school a virtual school as required by
um well Indiana Law now if we have more than 100 students but we are required to make it a school to make it a school I need board action and I have to upload the minutes of that board action to the idea we so we can officially apply for a school number happy to answer any questions but at this time I am seeking your action to establish foreign Online Academy officially as a school I would like to make the motion oh second okay it has been moved by Terry and second by Julie are there any questions or discussion this year on our ADM count we had 1 300. we anticipate to have fewer next year we are estimating right around a thousand is there any more discussion if not we will have a vote yes
Terry I'm a yes Dennis Howard okay LaShawna okay please press your vote on your um electronic device thank you on your computers all right thank you next up we have some course revisions these first three I'll do together are specific to Walker Career Center really it's a revised name that aligns with um specifically I'm sorry what the next level programs of study that I know that Dr Rogers had talked about specifically we always have had a computer science pathway for our students but if we rename these courses and align them the pathways we change the opportunities students have to from earning three dual credits to a potential 12 dual credits as we align our pathway this way so this would be the revision of names to include software development website and database development and then
software development Capstone that reorganization would provide our students the opportunity to earn 12 dual credits as they achieve that pathway instead of three 12 dual credits is a semester of college so that's a pretty big deal so at this time I'm seeking action Julia second by Lashana is there any discussion if not we're ready for a vote if the board members can vote on your computers and I will call for Miss Julie yes and my vote is a yes okay last but not least we have two new court oops sorry that's okay we have two new courses Warren Central High School these are specific to our students who are on a certificate of completion path this is an alignment to those as well to ensure that we're up to date with State course codes course
one is applied Advanced health education and then course two is a work based learning Capstone product specifically it's discipline specific for CTE courses again these are our students working towards certificate completion it's just alignment with new state course numbers but considered new courses happy to answer any questions but seeking your approval tonight if not we're ready for a vote Yes Mr Lee yes Miss Gloria yes all other members vote on your device please thank you it passes okay thank you Ryan Russell now we have Matt Parkinson good evening everyone we have a recommendation to the board this evening that we appoint a third member to the vision 2005 School building Corporation the building Corporation plays a key role in the issuance of First Mortgage bonds which we're looking at doing in early 2023 and so
this evening we're recommending that Catherine Basham be appointed to the building Corporation second it was moved by Howard and second by Julie is there any discussion if not we're ready for a vote it's Julie yes Miss Gloria yes and it passes thank you thank you now we have Allison Woods that's going to come to us with Student Success handbook foreign okay good evening president Williams Dr handsome members of the board I came to you last month with our recommendations for doing an exit out of this for our Student Success handbook I know since then that there have been some recent conversations about social media and the impact that that has in regards to bullying and harassment I have reached out to our school attorney to send me some examples and proposed language to look to
add both that and some resources for parents on social media and supporting your students with their children with social media to the handbook so we're going to move this to for approval at June in the next few weeks and I'll be sending you some proposed language around social media in both of those areas so you guys can look at that for June approval but I want why I'm here to have the opportunity that if you have feedback on other areas that you want looked at and to have something similar done where we can give you some updated or proposed language before June I'd like to hear hear that input as well Miss Allison first of all I want to thank you guys and Dr Hansen for taking a look at that and just hearing you
know the concerns of our parents and addressing it um but as we're looking through social media and the bullying just more language and Direction even for our um you know administrators to know how what steps like we have in second steps with tears you know just giving them a little more of a blueprint on what action steps to take as we're addressing the social media with bullying what happens next yeah absolutely thank you is there any other discussion well thank you Alice yes I will send you guys those and then please feel free to reach out to me um before the June morning uh June board meeting uh if you have any other questions or thoughts or ideas thank you thank you now we'll have Marcus Clayton to come to us with use of school
facilities foreign discussion I proposed a revision of board policy 7510 the revision proposed for this policy offers corporations the option of prohibiting The Possession use or distribution of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances and any function occurring on school premises and prohibiting betting and any function occurring on school premises and or permitting Corporation related organizations to have Raffles or similar forms of fundraising on school school premises if the superintendent has approved of this in advance this is the first time that we've had opportunity to review this this board policy since August of 2011 so what we're truly looking to do is to you know again revise and add new language to this policy for discussion okay board in front of you you have a copy of the current policy as Marcus highlighted some of the changes
in 2011 I believe the board at that time and Dr Hinckley wrote this really personalized towards the district because you'll notice some very specific Warren language in there so it is somewhat of a an overhaul of the current policy so please take a look at that and if you have any questions reach out to Marcus foreign thank you is there any discussion any questions if not thank you oh perfectly we also in the revision um will we have the fees I see you mentioned something about um fees can be reduced well we see um be able to see what like the current fees are is that under revision two or yes we're taking a look at not only the policy but also the what we call the guidelines and as we revise those as well
and take a look at those fee structures um Dr Hansen or myself will definitely be prepared to share that information as well I get Sorry Miss Williams if I could add Lashana it's been 10 years since we've looked at that fee structure too so I can I can tell you with confidence that we will be sharing that with the board those changes I was just saying did I hear you say that you are going to x out having Raffles also that we're going to eliminate Raffles yes um and again this was just from the Neola recommendation but specifically just um as far as groups that rent our facilities we want to have a say-so in terms of um you know the type of in this case Raffles or any type of betting things that they
would do that that would need to to go through the board through the superintendent right superintendent approval yeah let's go through the super tender board any other questions thank you thank you Marcus okay finally we are down to closing comments yeah so um we started with Julie last time we'll start with Lashana good night thank you LaShawna Rachel see six days we can all make it six days thank you Rachel just want to say it was great having a filled house tonight celebrating the kids our retirees um and all the reports thank you for everything have a wonderful evening thank you Terry Julie thank you for everything you guys do and go home and get a good night's rest Howard thank you uh Julie [Laughter] oh now he'd be the first one to say you
