Hunter Baker, present. Present. >> Go ahead and begin. Um we are going to start the night off with the student celebrations. We have two great groups, one for April and one for May. So we will be starting with April first. Um so with that said, we will start with the boiler makers. So our April student of the month is little cutie Temperance Ridgeway. Um Temperance's teacher says that she's bright, spunky, energetic learner. Who brings so much joy to the classroom each day and I will say she comes to school every day with a smile. I I don't think I've seen her with a frown one time this year. Um she has an excitement for learning and she she shines through in everything she does. She isn't afraid to be herself either. Um her personality keeps
the classroom lively and fun and her teacher is very proud of her growth. Temperance loves pink. She loves playing with paper. Oh, that's a new one. I never heard that one. She wants to be a mermaid when she grows up and she loves cheese and bananas. So congratulations to Temperance. All right, we will go forward with the elementary. Hi. >> Okay, for our first student of the month from elementary school is Mr. Corbin Gibson. We asked him I interviewed him and it was one of my favorite interviews I've done this year. But he said the three things he loved, he said basketball, sports, and Jesus. And he said, "Wait, can I put those in a different order?" And we did. He said, "That's what they would be like in the real world." His favorite name,
come down, speak up. His favorite color, three-way tie, black, white, and red. Favorite subject was math. And then here are some things that his teachers said. We chose Corbin because of the growth and maturity that he has shown this year. Corbin has become a great example, makes good choices, and still enjoys learning. He works hard. He's eager to help out. He brings a lot of fun to the classroom, too. He always has a smile. He's really funny as well. In our special area of class, we have all seen him take big strides this year in various ways. We're very lucky to see our student growth in this in this manner from year to year. And Corbin has done a great job. So, the ways that we I asked him how are some ways that he
belong. And he said he belonged to the basketball team, part of the ice cream church, and just like all the others. Things that help him grow, eating healthy, exercising, and working with his mom. And then I said, "Do you contribute in any kind of group one?" And he he listed one of those things as the way that he belonged. And he said, I said, "How do you contribute? What do you do to help others?" And he said, "That's just part of my personality." He said that it's Jesus and he really helps me. He said he always did the right thing, so I try to, So, this is Corbin Gibson. Good job, Corbin. Corbin, come on up and get your Okay. >> THANK YOU SO MUCH. >> I DO NOT THINK THAT MY STUDENT OF THE
MONTH of April is here either. She is a sophomore here tonight. We'll go ahead and go over her highlights anyway. Um our student of the month for seventh grade in uh middle school is Josie Bohannon. Her favorite color is ocean blue. Uh favorite food is chicken tenders and fries and her favorite subject is lunch. Um things that she loves Disney, Swedish candies. I'm going to have to find out what a Swedish candy is. That sounds really good. And softball. Um these are things that are hot off the press. Uh this semester is my first time meeting Josie and she has grown on me a lot. She is a sweet person who is always ready to show me what she is willing to will be doing with her nails next. Excited to talk about and goes
the extra mile in her work. Josie is patient and kind to those around her regardless of who it is. I see Josie excelling once she gets to high school, bringing top academic achievement to a new level for our school. She's a wonderful student and asset to our community. How she belongs, she's part of the middle school cheer team. She's a member of the middle or the junior National Honor Society and she's part of the middle school softball team. How she grows, she is very proactive about her grades and keeping them up. She always puts in a lot of effort in her work and she maintains a solid work ethic. How she contributes, she helps classmates when needed. She encourages friends and she is always kind and understanding. That's why she is getting Josie Award. >>
Next up, we're going to high school. >> So for high school perfect award, two students one is for art and one is for music. So the one for music is all across the board. Uh on behalf of the music department on this award, never been in our school, is welcoming to all and makes me feel good. My favorite one in the department of music. He's a well-liked by all the students and is true in all parts. How he can communicate. He also has a very good style when it comes to dressing. So as far as he grows, uh since he joined our program all this year, he's grown as a grown as a teacher by helping the sixth graders. Also he has grown as a musician by writing his own compositions. He even got to
direct the last jazz band. played something in the room, there's an incredible musician who has seen what he has done and work. And he has continued to grow. Um what did he say? I don't know if you guys were at the band concert with jazz to perform some of his pieces. I don't know if you guys went to the last band concert. It was pretty awesome. First he contributed all the contributed to the band as a leader and as a great musician. I can rely and rely on him to help us accomplish these things even without a record. He's also able to jump in on any part that may be needed during the course and has done an excellent job of being a spirit for the pep band. That is ONLY ROSS. I JUST WANT
TO SAY THAT ONE FOR HEART. DO YOU KNOW she has kids at home? Uh kid, Mrs. Peters and all of her kids makes everyone in her circle of friends feel valued and appreciated. She's kind and helpful, always willing to help those around her even though she's a quiet leader. She consistently shows kindness and inclusion, especially when it comes to sports and looks out for her younger sister. I can count on her help if anyone needs it. When she grows up, Katie has been in my art classes since her freshman year. She is creative and is talented. She has not shied away from challenges and always gives us her best effort. She has created many nice art pieces over the years thanks to her commitment and perseverance. I hope she'll continue to make you part of
the future. As far as contributing, Katie is my go-to this year. She never complains about work or any help with from art supplies, painting, or cleaning paint brushes. Her efforts in the art room run smoothly day to day. I could not do without her and the paintings she does in my classroom. Katie has also made all the art for Mother's Day displays in the art branch for our students. That is KATIE'S AWARD. >> ALL RIGHT, SO THAT WAS APRIL. SO, NOW WE'RE going to move on to May student of the month. And we will start with the Explorer Center. I'm going to read off my papers. It's easier for me to see. So, um our May student of the month is Mr. Bentley Boyd. Can you take it? Um I have been lucky enough to
be Bentley's teacher for the last 2 years and he's just an absolute joy to have in the classroom. He is a really good leader. He leads by example and he's always looking out for everyone in the classroom. He's just a great kid to see. He's kind to everyone and everyone wants to play with Bentley. Everyone loves Bentley. Um, he's a wonderful helper and he has a very sensitive and caring heart, which I think is why he he's everyone wants to play with him. He's just a great friend. He loves giving compliments and he loves to cheer his friends on. I'm very proud of him and I'm going to miss him. Um, his favorite color is blue. He said what he loves about school are his teachers. When he grows up, he wants to be a
doctor and he loves meatballs. He's the most meatball-eating boy I've ever seen. So, CONGRATULATIONS TO BENTLEY. >> ALL RIGHT, OUR NEXT ELEMENTARY STUDENT OF THE month is Miss Delaney Moore. She's a fourth grader. Some of the things that she shared, we had a really fun time talking and I loved her answers. This was really cool. She loves martial arts and she is a red belt brown stripe. That sounds really important. I don't know what it all means. She loves that her mom does so much for her and her dad does so much for her. And she loves how all of her teachers and family and friends are always there for her. Her favorite thing, how about steak? Sounds great. Her favorite color is green and her favorite subject is science or math. Her teacher had
to say, "Delaney has made so much progress this school year. She's such a sweet girl and always tries her best. I'm so happy to have Delaney as a teacher and watch her grow this year." Ways that she will grow are through martial arts. She has a strong friend group, which I love for her. And then through her church as well. Growth and she grows by meeting new people, which I thought was one of the best answers of the year. It's a great way to learn and grow. Talking to people about their emotions, and my mom helps me like that, and screen time, and drinking soda or pop. So, those are the basic ways to grow. She contributes by standing up for others, and she also helps others with their work. She also has a really
unique quality, which she can help all the students in the class. She's just very, very caring and innocent. So, that's Lilly. >> All right, ladies and gentlemen, hold on. All right, our eighth grade May student of the month is Davis Squirlock. Davis' favorite color is blue. His favorite food is crab. Now, is it the whole crab, or is it crab legs? Any crab? And then, favorite subject is math. Things that he loves is Call of Duty, band, and playing his guitar. How long have you been playing the guitar? Got it for Christmas. Okay, so not real long. I'll be looking forward to These are all hot off the press. Davis is a very strong student in the eighth grade. He is always willing to help his peers become a better musician, but also learns from
others. He is always an active participant in the class and is a player his peers can rely on. Davis showcases all of the traits of being a knight and will continue to grow in his high school years. This is how Davis belongs. He is always an active part of lessons. He is a team player and he is always willing to help his peers. How he grows, Davis has grown as a musician playing much more difficult percussion parts. He has grown as a person becoming more of a leader. He has also grown as a musician by learning his And this is how he contributes. Davis contributes by bringing questions and suggestions to rehearsal, always attending school, and helping organize percussion instruments after class. That's our student of the month, Davis Swillum. >> As a support the
main way to choose what to do today and you not believe it. Um Thank you. All of us All these students last year were all seniors. Uh hopefully you'll see what we want by the positive attitude of all these students who have shown up. These two people are timeless across all of us around the high school association. We got a place. For growth, we have to attribute growth to hard work and determination. He teaches Bradley to be his best. He continues to push himself to improve. This tremendous growth is beyond ready for next for the next level. As for contributing, what he contributes is responsibility, strong work ethic, work ethic, and willingness to help others. He's a current example of a classmate, teammate, and friend. We appreciate your teaching and everything that you do. And
that is WHAT WE THANK AND OUR WHOLE STUDENT IS CALEB WALSH. Um Caleb Walsh brings a positive energy wherever he goes. He is friendly, a person who always makes others feel included. His personality and sense of humor helps create a welcoming atmosphere for those around. Caleb has shown strong Sorry, for growth. Caleb has shown strong growth through his hard work and determination. He pushes himself to do his best, takes pride in his work. He continues to improve from inside and outside the classroom. He is destined for great things in his future. As for contributing, Caleb is a member of always willing to help others when needed. He even stepped up to be a strong leader in BPA when the entire organization needed him. When he's working with classmates or participating in school activities, he leads
by example through his attitude, effort, and character. And that's Caleb Walsh. As for the student of both going to my >> All right, all these celebrations. I need to look at my agenda to see what's next. All right, we are going to move on to administrative reports and we will start with our superintendent. >> Well, the school year is coming to a close. Um I want to thank all of the um staff and families just for all of the wonderful events and celebrations um for us. Um and with that, I want to highlight just a couple of changes for next year. Just a reminder that we have adjusted the start and ending times. Um and with that, we will be following a 2-hour delay schedule um for inclement weather rather than a 90-minute delay schedule.
Um also, based on enrollment, we will have five sections of preschool next year and all of the preschool classes will be housed at the early learning center. Um just to highlight the agenda this evening, um we're going to be hearing from Sarah Scott. Um Sarah's the executive director of Communities in Schools and Heather Harper from VPS Architecture um will be giving us some construction updates. Um I would also point out to you on um the personal consent agenda, um softball will be traveling to Winchester on Memorial Day. Um so, we do have one gracious bus driver, so thank you to Ron Lynch who will be um driving on the holiday. Um so, we want to compensate him for holiday pay for that bus trip. Um without further ado, I would like to introduce to you
uh Sarah Scott. >> Good morning. >> Thank you so much. Good evening everyone. And I appreciate the opportunity to speak with you tonight. As she said, I'm Tara Scarlett, Executive Director of Communities In Schools of Orange County. And I just wanted to share a little bit about our organization and the kind of our programming that's happened in Orange County this year. It's been an an exciting year of growth and collaboration and meaningful progress for students across our district. Thank you. So, as you know, Orange County students are facing challenges that extend beyond the classroom. We have They're dealing with attendance concerns, social emotional needs, and unmet basic needs, which all create barriers to academic success. These challenges require intentional support systems so that students can fully engage and thrive. And that's where Communities In Schools
comes into play. We work by identifying the root causes behind these barriers, and we provide targeted relationship-based support. We connect students and families to critical resources while partnering directly with school staff to address non-academic challenges that may impact their learning. This next slide um it has a pretty lengthy story, but I'll just summarize it. Um The impact that we we provide is best seen through individual student growth. In this example, one student we supported at the end of the year disengaged, lacked confidence. But then, through the site coordinator, he was able to get consistent encouragement and hands-on hands-on support, um particularly with the Leg Lamp project that they do. Um he didn't have the He was like, "I'm just going to do it." And so, our site coordinator jumped in, helped him go outside, they
collected supplies, they worked on it together, and that built his confidence up. Um, and as a result of this, um, student increased his classroom participation, and he began to see confidence in himself and see success as an element to reach. That brings me to some of our results that we've seen this year. Um, the data isn't in here. This is for the first semester. Um, we're still aggregating data for the second semester, so we'll have that in the coming months, but um, these percentages represent 117 case managed students across the district. Those are students who are getting one-on-one support from our site coordinators. Um, they have uh, 83% of those students improved their attendance, 86% showed improved behavior, 85% improved their academics or their grades. And then, um, another support that we provide, which is
a school-wide support, is basically items, and we provided over 2,000 uh, basic needs items to the the school in the first semester. So, that's a big um, so, the outcomes we've seen, they're measurable, they're encouraging. This You know, at this stage, we're seeing strong indicators that Communities In Schools is making a meaningful difference in attendance, behavior, and academic success of students. Thank you so much for your time and for continuing commitment to the students of our Northeastern schools. Over this past year, the partnership between CIS and Northeastern has grown exponentially, and the level of collaboration with school administrators and educators is at an all-time high. I'm very proud of that, and together we've already been putting a strong plan in place for the next this next school year, and we're very excited to continue to
support our guidance team to ensure student has the resources and relationships they need to succeed. >> How many How many students are in the whole district total this year? How many How many are in your program? >> So, 117 are case managed, but we provide school-wide services to any student. Um a lot of those are called called tier one services. Those are Sometimes like the school dentist we bring into the school or sometimes there's assemblies that we would uh manage as well. Um any type of basic need or support is available to any student within the district. >> And then when you said the 2,005, is that county >> No, that's just our district. The Contra Costa County is around 4,000. For the first Thanks for having me. >> Next? Okay. >> Is it the
same here? >> Yeah, that's right. >> And same here? >> That is same. >> And so I'm here to give you a construction update. As you may have noticed, we have a bright orange fence around the building site. And so they're uh they're well underway and currently we are dealing with some new issues in the tree part of the house and we were faced with structural challenges as we did work up and discovered that and the walls were not sufficiently lined to support themselves. And so we had a structural engineer who is designing um a girder system, so it's horizontal steel beam that will wrap the outside of the building. And to create a a safe and strong and you're you're never going to see this building fall down again. That's it. Um so it
is going to push back our timeline a little bit from where we thought we'd be done about the beginning of the school year. Um it will be an additional cost. Um it it adds to the overall budget. Um we think we're still comfortable. Um but it's it's going to add a little bit of extra time and a little bit of extra work. Obviously it's a discomfort because we did uh decide that it was probably the safest and most secure thing to do. This building has stood for a very long time. I don't think it's going to fall down on you, but we definitely want to be safe. Um so that's I think that's the right decision to make. Keep that in the back of your mind there. Um so you'll start to see steel here
in the next 3 months. Um what will happen is they're creating a little metal box all the way around the building. You'll see a difference. Um layers of that up. We'll be putting metal panels on top of that and you won't see the steel in all the floors. Like it's flat metal panels. Um now that's coming. And then uh additionally the track got really started this month on the east side. So that's moving construction They may not be able to start doing the notes. So we'll see um the track can get completely removed. We'll be able to um complete the work on this. Um there's still a lot of work that can be done before the buses can come up. Um how is the additional construction That's all right. >> So are you just going
to >> I think this is a silly question, but you said it will have like the metal panels. >> Yes. >> Is that the end result or you're going to put them back up? >> No, we're not putting them >> Okay, so it's that's >> Yes, the outside of the upper part of the building is going to be allocated. So, this um actually this kind of better um higher volume of leakage that was going on in the early 2000s, those small little pinholes on it in the background actually indicate that the little pinholes are higher there. For mention of the actual pinholes, they're still there. Those small little actual pinholes are still there. Um and so, that'll be a lighter case. >> You're also going to create a structural >> on the same wall there.
Structural like this. Should be It's a structural. >> Right. It'll It'll be a header not brick up there. We are replacing brick down there. Basically, That's another cost that I can see. >> So, are you Are you pouring up in now that you don't see any holes? What's the total amount of leakage have additional cost with the the more material and these Where are we at with Oh, yeah, now this has happened, too. Where are we at in that process? >> Yeah. Um so, I would say we're not completely out of the woods yet as we have uncovered and taking brick off to say that actually area, you can see now that um the CMU concrete blocks that are there are cracking in ways that give us that indication that started to leak out. So,
that's a unique situation. So, do you have an an estimate out right now so that we can reinforce that when we rebuild that corner as we are seeing that all in three years this was leaking to cover it up so that we're not doing any construction and that's the implication. So, I think um that we're close to having a complete follow-up of all of those so we haven't been in direct regular yet. So, if we take off all of it, I don't think we're going to be able to see it yet. >> There's no We do anticipate that there has been some additional costs for the way that The way that we would normally build some masonry structures we would do fully grouted concrete below grade. So then that's poured concrete versus CMU. We grout
that solid all the way. And then we take the brick on top of that. And if we take the brick off you can see that below. That brick doesn't have anything But was that both both >> Yeah, but that's what I was curious if they did it wrong or is that just a >> That's kind of holding to the standards when Cincinnati had their parts building code developed especially that you can handle that and it existed but it wasn't necessarily as strict as it is now. So we are digging that and gave the foundation stacks so that's added costs that they get around the building. We have We were anticipating to go that way. The drawings show it with block below. The way that we normally do it. So it's just seeing like what's in
the drawings versus what is actually there is This is part of what we do could happen and then the building is complete. So that we should be in good shape for the costs. >> Is it good you mentioned customers when should we have all the information? >> Yeah, sure. And we're on we're on track for staying ahead of it and we can really make decisions and try to stay ahead of the contractor and try to keep things being really reactive to the school district and be flexible about things around the building. The services were iron 20 in this building. that slow. What are the possible delays over the days that really impact this possible timeline? And then when you say it's going to promote a little bit, what's that time frame look like? So, that
shouldn't impact the track at all. And the new operating is 2 seconds faster, so as of right now there's no reason to think that the track track time will be impacted. And we anticipate that once you get this deal on the building, even if the project's not totally completed, you should be able to direct the things in the building. So, you won't have that extensive timeline. I think we were done in about 30 minutes August previously, and this could potentially add up to 8 to 10 weeks. Um but you shouldn't see that um that full 8 to 10 weeks of added time leading up to the future. So, I assume once the metal panels are up all of that's sealed so that water doesn't get in and continue to deteriorate as well. Yes, absolutely. And
we are insulating as well, so there's less thermal exchange and less that was another that was included in the original plan. So, we're adding insulation, and then there will be a layer of plywood and another weather barrier over it. That weather barrier creates a weather tight seal. And on top of that we have a moisture barrier and have the moisture barrier extend out of the building. Then there's metal panels on top of that, which should also be very durable. So, we've got quite a few layers that we have on the exterior of the building So, through the day, just out of curiosity, what have you mentioned to the public so far? That's all right. It's not what you put in the newsletter. This is one that Any questions there? Daniel, do you have any questions?
>> No. >> All right. Thank you. Say goodbye to the staff and say goodbye to your room. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> All right. Um, do you have any comments? Do you have any? It's like nobody signed in to speak. No one? Any comments? All right. Next up is the consent items. In there, you've all received the minutes on the left side. Approval and signing of the minutes from April 15th. Approval of claims, donations, fundraisers, field trips, overnight field trips out of state, and all personnel. Um, before we discuss that, Mr. White, do you have anything? Have anything you think you can set out of the agenda items? >> Um, no. I mentioned earlier that we could just have the Memorial Day plus summer school. >> Questions or discussions or anything? >> I make
a motion to approve the consent items. >> I'll second. >> Motion made by Mrs. Clayton to approve the consent items. I need five votes to approve the consent items. Yes. All right, new business. Um this is like new information on the food services. >> Yes. Um tonight we have a recommendation to increase the lunch prices for the 505 service. Across the board. >> We did this last pretty much all the state. These increasing prices >> It's just kind of the just as what we see at the grocery store. At the home. >> The food services. Those should be exceptions on food services now. Motion made by Mr. Seconded by Mr. Cole to approve food services lunch fee increase. All in favor? All opposed? Policy review update. We will all share the volume 37. This is
the first reading that we received on the policy credit. Are there any foods second reading session? >> I would just add in addition to volume 37, there's also the transfer student body freshman and the policy as well. >> I think it's something I would like to go to the second I make a motion to approve the first reading and >> Can we look at going ahead and moving the transfer money? Subgroup? And then do the possible and something. I make a motion to the transfer of first reading and non-renewal policy. Motion made by Miss Blake for the motion to approve the attorney renewal threshold and non- Those in favor of the transfer second by Miss Blake. And I make a motion to approve the first reading of the policy. Just it's it's a volunteer psychology
03837. And second for second. Motion made by Miss Blake for the motion to approve the renewal of the policy volume 37 to second reading second by Miss Both are both favored. All right. So, then we go into unfinished business and I think we have some conversation about >> Yes. So, I did as I knew that there were these questions for the last few days going through all of the bonds to give you an update on where we are. You see it slowly you can watch. Um first of all, right now we're working in the 2024 bond. But I did go back and look um we actually have a 2021 bond that um still has has $5,268.39 um that was not spent yet. Um and the physical thing is 45 years old, but it was for
elementary HVAC. Um so um we will be um even though time has passed, I I checked with the mission we are going to be able to spend those funds. Um it just happens 25 years later we're doing an HVAC project. Um so um we will use those remaining funds for the HVAC work that we're um wrapping up this summer at the elementary. And when we go over the 20 um 2024 bond those funds that that amount then will that will be basically $5,000 less that we would have to spend out of the 2024 bond. Um so but I think it's the 20 you know, since 25 years so probably in 2024 you know, that would close out. Um we um the school board mission also had a bond in 20 um 2019. Um that bond
was part of the project um for the renovation of the early learning center and the student when the student services center was built. And I found there's um $3,488.36 left in that. Um and so you know, we want to make sure that um we're using that bond money for the intended purpose. Um they do have um just some parking lot repairs. Um so we'll be using that amount for asphalt and crack filler things to do to do some repairs there as well. Um all right, if you look at the um 2024 um construction bond So, when we first heard about um you know, some of the issues and and things that they have found as they were moving the work and we have brick and mortar having to do some of those repairs. So, um
So, the top amount um shows the amount of the bond. Uh that first dollar amount, that is the elementary HVAC project. Um and that includes um contingencies. Um right now, um we have to complete There's a couple minor things um with like an apple on the roof. Um we're looking at as soon as school's out. Um there was a little bit of a delay. Um the the units have actually been in storage. Um now that school's out, we'll be getting those out and they'll be installed. So, um that should be happening in the next couple weeks and I'll have a better idea, but as um today, it should have about $100,000 um that uh we should come in about $100,000 under that amount. So, we'll have that um to use, but I'll have that number
for you in a month. But, as of today, about $30,000. So, you can see a million five is um what we had for the high school exterior renovation project. Um I did go ahead and add in we're looking at about 400,000 for um for the additional steel work. Um I did go back and look um the um 15,500 that was paid out of the bond and that would have been the work that you did. I think they did the RFQ back in November of 2024. Um, so you would have been billed in 2025. But that would have been those reinforcement plates that are in the corners of the gym. Um, so that was the 15,500. So you can see we have um just under a million budgeted in for the track resurfacing. Um, part of
the HVAC unit, the original um project did not have the controls written in. So back in the fall, um they did a change order so we have to include those. Um, the actual cost of that you can see was 128. Um, just a little over 128,000. Um, with that they do need a software upgrade to the system. Ours is outdated in order to be able to run those controls and that actual cost was around 45,000. So that gives you um an idea of where we are. Now of course you have you know the fees, um you have your soft costs, you have the architect. Um, one of the unexpected was having to bring in the structural engineer. Um, I've factored that in as well. That is um a not to exceed amount, so we're not
there yet. Just kind of budgeting on on the high end. Um, as of right now we did have in if we needed to do some surveying, we haven't used that yet. So that's um So you can see um the projected total cost. Um, and so as of right now, um we're looking at about 387,000 left. So, that gives us a little bit of wiggle room. And And I would add that that is not taking out any of the contingencies at this point. So, that would be still keeping the courtyard in. And that still includes the bleachers um as part of the block project. So, um we're not supporting where um we are looking at rainy day or we're looking at additional bonds. Um I would consider it tomorrow to list. We'll update this. Again, these
are, you know, on the the high end to be conservative. Um But But I feel comfortable right now um that if we do have some other surprises, that um we do still have some funds available before we have to make some decisions. So, I wouldn't bring to you tonight just kind of an update on the bonds. So, at this point I'm not bringing you any recommendations to you as far as refinances. Does anybody >> Do we have to do anything with the plan? >> No. We don't because there's So, what she's referring to, there's a 20% um change order cap or the threshold, but there's also in the law that if there are like unforeseen circumstances, um that Um and I did consult with the attorney at Ice Miller um to confirm that. And I
sent you that as well. Um And just to give you an idea when you're thinking about big projects, um you know, we we have some things that that that need some attention and some love and you know, with this project being worn out, I love it that we're at the point where we're able to do that. But I wanted to give you an idea now that you have a better idea of the money. So, you know, what happens if you know, we still have this three month. You know, what are some other projects that we need to look at, which is a better place to be than having to put that money away. One of the one of the things that that we had looked at with the gym floors, it's very hard to even
find the time to wax or floor. And so we thought, okay, you know, while the gym is closed, this would be a good time to have it sanded and refinished. So, we had them come in a flooring company come in to look at it. We thought it had probably one more sanding. It does not. And so it cannot be sanded. So, now we're at the point that it stays as it is until we're ready to replace it. So, when it gets down to be too thin, then it gets replaced. So, if we were to replace the gym floor, we're looking at 167,700. 167,700. >> How much is the gym floor? >> I don't know what that is. I can't Well, it doesn't say on I remember being like it's really old. No, and it's not
I don't think I don't think it's not so many many years since the number of seating. Like how how long So if you don't say that I mean you know Um but that just gives you an idea of the costs. Um getting to the end of what we've been working at just on some of the things that that people have brought to my attention. If we were to replace the football lights and that would be including new poles we're looking at uh somewhere about 230,000. Which that's on the low end of the uh um seems estimates anywhere between uh um that's kind of on the low end of that to be even you know 500,000. How long How long ago And the wood poles are starting to It does. It does still. Um one of
the other things just as we talked about the HVAC at the elementary, um we're really at the same um we're in kind of the same predicament in this building as far as the controls and um the update we're running off of really old system. Um you can see I put that at the bottom of um of the budget, that would probably be a priority if you have other screening so we're looking at about 132,000 um for a track field. Well, that that is for H 2 C. Other projects that we can look at as well that are less expensive if you fix the mountain dew then in stages would be some upgrades to the light the lighting in the gym, the lighting in the theater, the cafeteria, hallway lighting exterior lighting Yes, parking lots. Always
something like that. And part of that is again, when you say lighting, it's like, well, it you know, it looks okay in here, but it's not just the lighting, it's the Yes, the efficiency of it and being on more sustainable converting to more energy saving Yes. We all take places and stuff, so I have price written down below on that if there's anything that we need to go over tonight. But just thinking ahead in the future and and looking at our dollars and about you know, what are as the board, what are your priorities when we ask our as well um what you see done in >> Do you know I've got to add and add and everything all those classrooms >> 45,000 >> Anything >> And I would say that we we do have
some other projects that are scheduled for this summer. We have some door replacements that will be taking place here. If you look at the elementary, you see some orange like fencing. So, we're looking at actual fencing there. But, I just that is not out of the bond. We do have a COP grant, which is like a federal safety grant. And so, a lot of those projects were written in that way. So, that includes the fencing for the elementary school, um doors in all of the buildings, the key fob systems. Those are the And we will work on those things this summer second quarter of the bond. >> Hello, my name is Todd Ellis. I'm with Fort Thomas. And we know there's plenty of mailing this information. >> Thank you for being here, Todd. >> Um
there's two things I wanted to know. One is I wanted to shout out and thank Mr. Brady for coming over and helping out with the choir give their final concert in this year. I appreciated that, especially for those seniors where they had that last opportunity to have their final concert before they graduated. So, I think that was huge. So, shout out thank you to him. Also, I wanted to make sure we recognize two of our parents. Amanda Hager and Heather McDaniel were at the boys varsity game Covington versus Calvin at Calvin. And one of the Calvin players crossed the plate. One of our students tagged him in the chest and as he was walking back to his dugout he collapsed. Both of those parents are ours. They sprung into action. They used the AED machine,
shocking, bringing him back to where he needed to be. Luckily he did recover. It was a really weird situation, but I thought that was pretty awesome to know that both of those parents they both did what they were supposed to which he was needing. So I mean that's just good to have. So yeah. But I thought that was pretty pretty good sharing and a good shout out to them for one representing as well and also taking care of the kid. Very much appreciated. Other than that the only thing I have to say is with the rain please go away and the and the wind. Ready for summer. Anybody else have anything? >> Um the only thing I'll just remind um our certainly night celebration um for our staff is this Friday. Um so the celebration
starts at 11:00 lunch will be served at 11:30 here in the cafeteria and we will be announcing our elementary middle school and high school teachers. Um as well as our school staff of the year. So and we'll also be recognizing the first of the retirees um but also um years of service with the district. So looking forward to that. >> And that is there is there only middle school teachers or is >> It's in with elementary too. >> Okay, and the retirees is it one or two? >> One. And it's uh we don't have any teachers to retire this this year. Just staff. >> And is there a retiree? >> Um So, then I won't be surprised if I am. Any other board comments or board comments? Do any of you have anything? James All
right. Have a good motion. >> Good then. >> Make a motion to adjourn. >> I'll second that. >> What's your name? I'm Miss Marcus to adjourn. Seconded by Miss Smith. All in favor? >> Aye. >> Thank you, Dan. Bye. >> Thank you, Dan. We thank you. See you. >> Thanks, Dan. >> Bye, Dan.
