And next is uh to approve the meetings from uh December 2nd. >> I'll make a motion to approve the minutes from December 2nd. >> Miss Mrs. Lewis, >> yes.

>> Miss Peters, yes. Mrs. >> Yes. >> Mr. McG. >> Mr. Austral, >> yes. And one more approval of minutes from the special meeting on the 9th. I move to approve the um minutes from the special December 9th. Second, >> Mrs. >> Yes. Mrs. Mers, >> yes. >> Mrs. Amar, >> yes. Mr. McInn, >> yes. >> Mr. Ash, >> yes. >> And with that, we'll move to the superintendent's presentation. But first, thank you all for all coming and we'll have you out of here within the next couple hours. So, no worries. Well, good evening, President Austin, members of the board, and our amazing cults and your parents and family members. We appreciate you being here. A lot of exciting things to highlight. Again, looking at our mission statement, and I have to tell you that

a lot of our students have the mission statement memorized. So, you can ask your your children on the way home if they can state the mission statement. And again, our vision, building for the future, learning, cooperating, and caring, which is the focus of all of that we do here at Continental for our students. It is governing board appreciation month, and a special thank you to our governing board, and we truly could not do the work that we do without their support and trust in our team. So, we are just super grateful and thankful for your time. And as you may or may not know, being a governing board member is not a paid position. It's a volunteer position. And um they spend a lot of time just dialoguing about what we can do to improve

our school and make this a great place for our students and our community members. So thank you. We will do another little recognition in a little bit, but we appreciate it. [clears throat] >> December events to celebrate the Nutcracker experience for our students was amazing. We took our students who had perfect attendance and Miss Gracia took her kindergarten students. Do we have any students in the audience that attended the Nutcracker or were in the Nutcracker? >> Okay. [laughter] Yes. Yes. Wasn't it amazing? >> Some of you was a little bit long, right? It was a little bit long when you see the nutcracker, but um I think those experiences are what continue to help us produce well-rounded children, right? So, thank you. Um also, our preschool experiences are always so much fun and well attended

um during the holidays. So, thank you Dr. Robinson and your team. Um you can see the teachers in action. They sang songs. We had parents parents involved making gingerbread houses. So again, it's just much appreciated that we have such involved parents. So thank you. Our Eagle Scout project, we're excited again and thankful for our former Colt Auto Grinder for making a positive contribution to our school and campus. So over winter break, they successfully installed the gaga ball pit for middle school. As you know, we had one here for our um intermediate kids, but now the middle school students have it as well. We continue to celebrate our A letter grade and just a reminder that Thursday and Friday is our A+ of excellence award site visit. So we're looking forward to highlighting our students and

our staff on those two days as well. Tax credit funds, just a little update. Um, as of yesterday, >> [clears throat] >> um, we have received $42,673, which is, um, not as much as we usually receive between the time school starts in December. So, we did mail out letters to um, all of our past donors and we sent out this art um, invite as well. Also, we're hoping to get more of our um normal tax credit funds received between now and April. So, please we also let our club sponsors know and their families know and we put it in the weekly news. So, remember it's dollar for dollar and you get back what you donate um through your state income taxes. If you have any questions, please call and Mr. Schubert is very good at

helping and explaining. So, just send people our way. Thank you. Our greenhouse progress and update. We have so many people to thank um for this project. Our Green Valley Rotary. Um we received a $6,000 grant for the project called Seating for the Future. You can see Mrs. Quas and Mr. Lean and I went to the Green Valley Rotary meeting and presented the plan for the project. And they're very excited. They came to help us over um winter break as well. And actually, you could see me down there because I was drilling and doing my best. I was super sore the next day, but I did manage to help a little bit. Right, Mr. Nathan? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. Thanks. >> You can see me in the middle there, my overall supervisor. >> Yes. Yes.

And um and things are complicated when you're left-handed, but we made it happen. Um and you can see Mr. Nathan there as well with one of the Rotarians. And to the right, you can see that the greenhouse is completely covered now, which was our mission to get done over break. Mr. Woodward was here um today working on the final little detail. So, the next work will be where we'll invite involve all of our students and parents in u making the greenhouse functionable. So, we're super excited to hear [clears throat] um a committee of committee members to help us develop that plan. Again, [snorts] thank you to Freeport Macaran. We received this check for $75,000, which is to help us with our instructional technology curriculum and it will pay for all of our incoming second grade

Chromebooks. Um truly helps to ease our budgetary constraints and capital funds. So the $75,000 we'll have available for furniture and equipment, bus repairs, etc. So much appreciated to Greenport and their continued support. Green Valley Quilt Guild, they um came and donated an amazing quilt that will be a beautiful asset to our library. And I want to just you can see it here because the picture doesn't do justice um to the actual quilt. So, we hosted the quilters um conference or what was it called? The quilters convention. >> Quilt show. >> The quilt show here and Mrs. Webas saw a quilt. Was it the same quilt, Mrs. Webas, that you saw that? It was similar and she said she loved it and talked about it and they actually worked on it and brought it over to

us for our library. So, thank you for your networking and again the support of the Green Valley field is much appreciated. Thank you. Um, our project updates from SFB, I know we've been talking about them and hopefully they'll come to fruition soon. Our roofing project is supposed to start on February 23rd with [clears throat] an expected completion date of of July 24th. also our weatherproofing project which is the painting of our buildings. I feel like we've been talking about this for a long time as well, but we're still waiting on SFB approval. Um, and just a reminder, we didn't qualify for the approval at the last round of approvals. So, the next round should be in August and September. So, hopefully we'll hear news about that because we really do know that our school needs

to be painted and um it's well overdue. bottle cap mural project. Thank you to our continental foundation and via ver the rotary. Students will paint the mural and apply the bottle caps to complete the finished mural. The art projects will include all of our students and staff and work on the project is going to begin on January 20th with our primary grades and they are going to be designing it. So, this is just a sample, but our students are going to be deciding what they want to do for our mural. Again, please mark your calendars for the Sweetheart Gayla February 7th. We have um a lot of sponsors, a lot of silent auction items, live auction [clears throat] items, and it's a great time. And we want parents to know that even though the title

is a gayla, it doesn't mean that it's a black tie affair or you have to dress up. It's at the historic Canola Ranch. We do want you dressed up, but not you don't have to wear hormone dresses because people think that that's what it is. But please join us. Mark your calendars. Our jazz band will be performing there along with a special musician, Jerry Slade, who played last year. Our Willy Wonka performance update. We have 26 students who auditioned and are going to be in the play. Do we have any students here who are going to be in Willy Wonka? Okay, good job. All right. Um, and the performance dates are there, so stay tuned. Um, hopefully you were all able to see Alice and Wonderland last year, but it was an amazing show. So,

we're looking forward to another great performance by our students. Again, thank you and happy second semester. And just these are my little ornaments that I made for our staff members this year that said thank you for being such an important piece of our whole family. And I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart that I really appreciate every single one of you um and your contributions to the success of our students. Thank you. That concludes >> well thank you to kind of segue to um Mrs. Rico was talking about the sweetheart gall is it gall or kaya? >> Either way controversial. So that said is that sheet is all the classes are put in the last couple years put together baskets. So that is a link to an Amazon wish list if you

want to donate a trinket for the basket. Um it's not mandatory by any stretch or if you have something around the house that is similar that might go well with that you're we're more than happy to uh have that regifted to us. And with that, we want to have some more appreciation. Besides the Freeport grant that was $75,000 for new computers and software and Ila, um, you know, everything from a telescope to, you know, money for different causes and stuff ranging from, you know, $200 to $1,000. So, we actually are very blessed to live in such a great generous community. But keep it up. Right. So with that we have a special recognition and you guys will be up shortly. 016you. Thank you. Oh, not to mention that Mr. McGib went to school here at Continental. >> Yes, I'm old. >> And tomorrow or Thursday and Friday when we have our artifacts, your yearbook picture will be there. [laughter] You're an artifact now. >> And last but not least, our governing board president, Mr. Austral school board member since 2017 [applause] and again like I mentioned we truly couldn't do the innovative things that we do and we do a lot of innovative things and I always remind um our team that because we are rural and we are small we can get things done faster because We are one school, right? And we don't have to wait too long for permission. And most of the time, if we have a plan, they're very supportive of all of our crazy

ideas. So, thank you so much. [applause] >> They always send me pictures of other districts and what they do for the board. Thank you. And we also have our um be kind shirts and parents so you know be a kind human all our students have them. And what days do you wear these? >> Good job. Yay. Thursdays is hope. >> Thank you. [laughter] >> [laughter] >> Um, thank you all for coming. You can more than welcome to stay, grab

a cookie on your way out, or you can certainly stay and hear about the budget, all the other fun things. There you go. >> [laughter] [laughter] >> I never do. How about you? >> [laughter] [laughter] >> Oh Lord. >> [laughter] >> 90 days. >> All right, we'll go back in session [clears throat] and it is time for the consent agenda. Is there any discussion on any of the items agenda? Rather large one this week. Everything from hiring to retiring to pay and substitutes and vouchers. [snorts] I'll move to consent agend. >> Yes. Mr. Peters. >> Yes. More. >> Yes. Mr. McGrust. >> Yes. That moves us to item 10, new business. The first one is to uh talk about and vote on the open enrollment. >> And again, it's just a formality of having to

open up open enrollment for the year for this school year. >> And this is a uh a motion item. I'll make a motion to open um open enrollment for 26 27 school year. >> Second. >> Mrs. Lewis, >> yes. >> Miss Peters, >> yes. >> Mrs. Amas, yes. >> Mr. McG. >> Yes. >> Mr. Oer. >> And yes. And before you leave, you're going to get a uh every year we have to sign a conflict of interest form. So don't leave without it. And the next is Lean. You here? Did you see this on here? >> No, sir. So, we are we've written a letter. Jenna actually wrote it. Sign my name, but it's to oppose Senate Bill 1071. You know what that is? >> Rangers. >> So, it's to they want to put limits

on uh the rangers authority stuff they can do. I don't remember exactly all the bullet points. So, anyways, the community foundation has already written a letter and sent it and endorsed by them. And then um we're doing one as a as a board as well. >> Awesome. >> So that'll go out this week. >> So that is a motion item. >> Is it? >> No, that's just discussion. Sorry. >> And now what we've all been waiting for. >> Really? You've been waiting all night for just for this? >> Yes. >> Well, then I can tell a story while you're [snorts] >> Go ahead. No, that's [clears throat] >> I might have told Greg yesterday we were having an emergency meeting last night during the football game. Kind of made that [snorts] [laughter] >> you would

have been better off. >> Yeah, that's true. [laughter] >> It's a meeting profession. [laughter] All right. So, let's go. You know, we always look at the M fund. Tonight, I just wanted to take a quick glance over at fund 610, our capital funds, since we were talking about the free port grant that freed up some funding there. So, I just want to kind of go through that. All right. Can you make that bigger? >> All right. So, can you scroll down please? [clears throat] right there. Okay. So, this is the capital budget. It shows you what we budgeted, how much we spent, how much we have left in those categories. Um the Freeport money was able to come through and free up a lot of funds within um the capital fund. We were able to

journal the expenditures that we had made for educational software. were able to to gerald those out of this fund and put it into that grant. So if you scroll down just a touch. So you can see right there we now have 29% of our budget left. Our budget for that category is 414,000 and we have an accumulated expenses of 294. So roughly $40,000 out of that bud out of the grant, $45,000 out of that grant was spent within moving the educational software out. Um the money for the computers for the second grade is still actually within the grant itself, which is another C, you know, category a little bit higher up in here. So, as you can see, capital expenses, we're looking pretty fine. We're doing pretty well there. Um, should be a healthy year

within capital for the rest of the year. >> And you can roll certain amount of that over to next year. >> Whatever isn't spent get rolled to next year. >> Sort of related to that. What's the schedule on the buses for disposal? Is that coming up or is that >> Okay, so we put two buses out or I'm sorry, we put four buses out for for auction. >> Um, two have been sold. Two were sold and picked up. >> Okay. >> Um, >> just the two in the corner left out here. >> The two that are in the corner left. I had to issue a refund on the one bus. Um, it wasn't an engine harness that was causing issues. It was a transmission. So, they couldn't get it off the property. [clears throat] And

the other gentleman I've been trying to get in touch with, he's got an international phone number and our phones are not the most friendly when it comes to trying to make an international call. Um, so I'm still trying to get a hold of him again and see when he wants to make arrangements to come pick up his bus. >> It's not the same guy at the bottom. >> It was not the same guy at the bottom. >> Is that or something? >> Yeah. Everything everything that we sold this time was state. >> If you consider California so far, >> did we do okay on them? >> We've done better. >> Three, four, five grand. >> total. At least they're out of here. [clears throat] >> Any other discussion, guys? motion. >> I move to approve

the budget. >> I'll second it. >> Miss Le. >> Yes. >> Miss Peters. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Amar. >> Yes. Mr. McKin. >> Yes. >> Mr. Austin. >> And yes. >> So, next is just the uh events coming up. We know we have the A+ walkthrough Thursday and Friday of this week. No school next Monday. And the 100th day of school this year is the 23rd. Michelle, do you know the significance of that? >> No, we don't. >> You want to besides being 100, it's when we get our take our correct me if I'm wrong. It's when we take our um school enrollment and that's our official number [clears throat] to get funding. >> Yes. >> Right. That's nutshell. >> Okay. >> And there's lots of sports stuff. So one thing just on the upcoming

event is you all received the staple paper of the bolts training coming up. [clears throat] So I believe Mr. O is going to attend the end of the month >> in Flagstaff. >> Michelle Tucson and Mrs. Peters will do Tucson as well. >> Okay. So Miss Hamas and Mr. Mhibit if you'd like to attend. But I think I'm pretty excited that three of you plus Jenna will be attending as well. We'll be able to read back the information and we can include information during the study session if needed. >> Looks like no call to the public. And we've just got some any discussion anybody just um keep up what you're doing. Very proud of you guys and thank you for call >> Happy New Year. Yeah. Happy New Year. >> Last week we can say

that last week. >> I know. I think I wrote 26 Whatever. >> I'm sorry. >> Do you want me to sign this? >> Um, >> whatever. >> Yeah, whatever it >> It's It's Peter's name. >> It's Peter's now. >> Oh, because on the form itself, >> I just made sure I didn't want to. >> No, you're fine. >> Did you guys see our new name plates? >> Yes. >> No wonder Jen is getting the word [laughter] driver's license. Can you spell them? All right. [laughter] >> Still here. Those guys I was having lunch with the other day had two [laughter] go >> just a quick question. Um, do we already increase rates for preschool? >> I'm having that conversation with Mr. Schubert tomorrow. >> Okay. So, then we'll be presenting at the next board meeting.

Yeah. Okay. >> And with that, we are turned to 6:47. Wow. >> Good job. cardio.
