001[Music] Okay, we'll have our call. Thank you all for coming. All join us with the pledge of allegiance. Miss Lewis, will you lead us in the pledge please of America and to the republic for it stands nationy andice for all >> here Mrs. >> here Mr. begin. >> Mr. Austral is to uh approve our agenda, which is a motion item. >> I'll make a motion to approve October 14th agenda. >> I'll second. >> Mrs. Lewis, >> yes. >> Miss Lever, >> yes. >> Mr. Australian, >> yes. So, we approved the agenda. So, now we're going to approve the minutes from the last two meetings and then we'll get to some good stuff. So, approver the minutes from the September 9th meeting. >> Make a motion to approve the September 9th meeting. September 30th, same motion.

002Two different motions. Okay. September 9th. >> Second. >> I second. >> Yes. >> Miss Lever. >> Yes. Mrs. and Mr. Ashley. >> Yes. >> And the next one is to uh approve the minutes from September 3rd. >> I'll make a motion for September 30th. Governor second. >> Thank you, >> Mrs. Le. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lever. >> Yes. >> Mrs. somebody else. >> Yeah, Mr. Australia. >> Yes. And with that, that leads us to our superintendent report by Mico. >> All right. Good evening, everyone. Good to see all of you back from fall break. Thank you for being here with us today. Not too much to report. Just a reminder about our mission statement. Um, Continental School District will provide a community environment in which all individuals are challenged to achieve excellence in academics, character,

003and life skills. And again, our vision is building for the future, learning, cooperating, and caring. And as you know, everything that we do at Continental is based on our mission and our vision. And so I want to just we try to make it clear to our parents and our students and it's posted everywhere in the school so that everybody can remember why we're here. Um again I'd like to welcome our parent advisory parents um who are signed up. We do have two openings for any parents here who may want to join our parent advisory. We meet six times um per year. We have our first really official meeting on Monday, October 20th because the first assignment was to attend last board meeting that we met. So any parents that are in the audience if you

004want to join us uh we really do like to we go through our vision, our mission, we talk about the programs we have at school. We do um parents work on our climate survey that we give at the end of the year and we review the feedback that we receive from teachers, parents and students to figure out how we can make improvements at Continental. So, if you're interested, please um let Miss Jenna know and we can get you on for the next meeting. Um the Elevate Leadership Program that is new by Sawanita and um Green Valley had its third presentation. It's a leadership program Dr. Vanuela and I presented to the group on September Oh, that's wrong 12, 2025. And there's a little news clip that I'd like to show you. In case you missed

005the news, [Music] New program from the Green Valley Sabria Chamber of Commerce aims to elevate the leadership of community members in the area. >> That's right. K9 Sabria reporter Joe Foster learns how the program is building the leaders of tomorrow. >> Marina Unified School District. The Saberita and Green Valley education system is the focus in the third week of Elevate SGV, a program giving people of all backgrounds a 360 view of what makes the community tick. The team moved to Sorita two years ago to enter the aerospace industry. She's one of the 16 participants in the first elevate SGV cohort. >> Especially for me, uh, not having kids, I don't really know what's going on. So, this was a way for me to get exposed to what happens in the community. For organizers, Batima situation

006illustrates why the program exists. You >> know, you get busy with your day-to-day job. You don't know what else is going on in the community. So, hopefully this gives you uh it gives these folks that are participating a good idea of what's going on in the community and perhaps maybe encourage them to be part of the community and some type of civics leadership, whether it's running for the school board or the town council. For week three, the group heard from superintendent of the area school districts, then towards Sarita High School to learn about its new technology and programs. >> Our goal was to share the great things that our schools are doing. It is very important in our communities to get our story out about our school and what we're doing because if we don't

007tell our story, someone else will make up their own version. >> School leaders say having participants of varying backgrounds brings new ideas. We can find the things where our ideas intersect and we can leverage those to truly do more collectively than any of us could do if we try and do it by ourselves >> to ultimately build a stronger community. >> The goal is really to educate each other about our respective needs so that we can find common ground, collaborate and hopefully forge a prosperous positive direction going forward. >> Reporting from Sarita, Joel Foster, Kun 9. Joel is a reporter in Sabrina and the Green Valley area. So if you have a story I >> So again going back to if we don't tell our story and people don't know about us, they're going to

008make up what happens here, right? So um all of you have a voice and that's why when we talk about our surveys, our climate surveys, our open door policy because we really want to hear from all of our constituents and stakeholders, which are students first and foremost and our parents. Um, from that presentation, we received a monetary donation towards all of our owed lunch balances. Somebody that was there said, "How can I help? Do you have outstanding balances for lunches?" And she paid the whole total, her and her husband. And so um that was pretty awesome. We also um have people interested in coming to present at career day and to come read to our kids during reading week. So getting out and telling our story brings people in and more supporters. So um that's

009part of my job. I go out and do presentations and let people know about what's happening at our school. Um and so I would like to note that we did change career day. I know a lot of our parents have participated in the past and it's been the first Wednesday of May for many many years. We changed it to April 29th because our DC trip is happening the first week of May. So, we have to make sure that our parents know that. If you'd like to present your dream, you can also let us know so that we can get you on the schedule. And we try to expose our kids to as many different occupations as possible. Sometimes they don't even know that some of the occupations exist. So, any way you can help us

010get the word out would be great. Um, our additional parking lot update. As we mentioned at the last board meeting, we are opening up the parking lot to the west of us. So, we'll be receiving a 30-foot post from Tricco. They're very involved in doing a lot of it for free for us. Um, so I want to thank Mr. Lean. He's been working on the weekends. Um, Mr. McGibbon helped also with with the plan. So, our goal is to have it up and operational for the fall carnival. So you can see there we're keeping our fingers crossed that everything aligns with the trenching and when trio when they can come in to install. Also the solar panel update after consulting with our attorneys. The proposed interconnection amendment is non-controversial and can be executed at our

011next board meeting for approval. Um, we have an energy audit that's going to happen and we're also looking into solar panel options for the future from different vendors and different companies. Upcoming um events. Tomorrow, as you know, is RV literacy night. We hope to see our parents and our students there. We um will be having a stakeholder meeting to review our integrated action plan at 5:00. All are welcome. In terms of title one, we have to submit our plan and we have to submit our stakeholders who are involved with providing feedback. So we have our parent advisory parents coming some um local community members who are also part of that stakeholders team. So we'll be meeting um from 5:00 to 5:30 tomorrow. Also, our leader and me work. Next Tuesday, the 21st, we're going to

012a regional seven habits workshop for leader and me. And we're taking some of our new staff members who weren't initially trained in leadering me to get an idea of um best practices and implementing the lessons. Also, for AVID, we're taking a team of teachers to Wright Elementary School in TUSD um that following week as well. And we are excited that we're going to have a site leader and me and AVID learning walk on Monday October 22nd 27th and we will have staff members from leader and knee AVID some the principal and some teachers from CE Rose CE Rose in Tucson is a leader in K school and they just started AVID so we're just going to come have a good day and all of that is good preparation for our A+ visit that we are

013going to have in January. Ball festivities, Friday, October 25th, trunk or treat and fall carnival. I think we have up to 25 cars for the trunk or treat. So, we're excited about that. Red Ribbon Week will be happening that week as well, October 27th through the 31st. And we have activities planned and I believe a guest speaker coming in for middle school that week. And then Halloween, Friday, October 31st, you will be able to wear costumes. Um, and I believe a memo was being sent home. If it didn't go home today, it'll be this week about guidelines for students. Our staff theme is anything 80s. So, it could be movies from the 80s, characters from the 80s. So, you might just see some Care Bears walking around campus that day. So, um, just stay tuned.

014um our sensory garden project. Just a reminder um to please save anything and all plastic tops or lids of all colors and sizes. I know that it's been in the weekly update as well. So any of the bottle tops and you should have a section of a place here, a little bucket for them and in the office, but just save them at home and send them into your teachers um as soon as you can. We're hoping to get this project started in January so it could be up and running in April to have it done. Okay, thank you. That concludes my report, short and sweet for today. And we have another one special announcement because our football team won the championship. So, I'm going to turn it over to Mr. Lean to talk about our

015first quarter sports. >> So, for first quarter sports, first I want to address cross country. We had uh two new coaches on this year. Um Ben and Tommy Duncan. Uh Tommy used to be a student here at Continental School and is now in college and came back and convinced his dad to be his assistant coach. And we're super proud of their success. They were able to get second place for both boys and girls. Um, and just a reminder to the community, but also the school board, as part of the new league, the Sanita Mountain League, um, we no longer get trophies that we just keep forever. It's now a trophy that travels. And so we'll get a plaque that goes on the side with Continental and the year. And these will go from school to

016school. Um, similar to hockey, right, with the uh, the name of it, the Stanley Cup. Thank you. It's designed after that. Um, and we're super excited as well with not only being brand new coaches, but they came in their first year and were voted by all other coaches in the league for sportsmanship award, which says a lot about the coaches and the the athletes and their attitude to be selected out of all the teams to receive this. And once again, it hasn't happened yet because we just got these a week ago, but our name will go on there. And then for the grand finale, um last year we went undefeated. Um and and for the football team, flag football team, ended up getting first. This year we weren't that lucky. We did really well, but

017on trail beat us both games in the regular season. And in the championship game at Onza Trail, and I can't remember, I've been here 18 years. I don't know that in that 18 years we've ever won on field. and we were able to go in the championship game and bring home the first place trophy. Congratulations to the young men coaches that that earned this and I can never be more proud than it is really really really hard to get the first place trophy but then by your peers to be selected as the sportsmanship meaning that you won the trophy and beat all the other teams and some of them I remember one score was 72 to zero. that team voted for us because although we blew them out of the water, our boys didn't cry,

018they didn't boast, and they supported that team where they felt that we were the most sportsmanship team um despite the scores at the end of the game. So, um speaks volumes to our coaches and the type of kiddos that were raised in here at the top school. So, thank you. >> And Mr. Can you just mention volleyball? Just the number of girls that we had who participated. >> Oh my goodness. Um, volleyball I think off the top of my head I think it was 68 um girls more than we've ever had before. Um, we ended up we learned this last year with basketball where we started a D team. I talked a little bit about this at the last board meeting um for the board retreat rather and so we ended up having ABC and

019D team for volleyball and soft were able to compete as well. >> Thank you. Thank you very much for that. And now it is time to recognize Colts of the Mon. So if I can get all the Colts to come and line up right here on the wall, we're going to have preschool up here in the front and then all the way in the back will be my middle schoolers all the way to my eighth graders. 031to come forward and get pictures at this time, that would be awesome. [Music] All right. So, boys and girls, you're going to help me. We have our monthly Golden Horseshoe Awards, and these are awards that our staff members recognize each other on. So, at this time, I would like to call up Miss Elizabeth Vion. Please come on up, Miss Vion. Mrs. Biana Pier say, "Elizabeth is always helping wherever she can. She provides help in new monitors as well as always making sure the kids are safe. She is always on time and does her job well, taking the lead in responsibility in all aspects of her job. Staff as well as kids love being around Elizabeth. She is always willing to help and go the extra mile. She is loved by all staff and students. Correct.

032>> Elizabeth goes out of her way to take on additional responsibilities. She is a team player and we are so lucky and grateful to have her be part of our team and school family. Thank you very much, Mrs. I just like to add Mr. was when she was hired. Um, she had a long, long career in border control as a supervisor and we never thought those skills would turn over so well as a monitor, but her ability to supervise the children um, and also see what needs to be done and just jump in and do it is impeccable. Um, and not only that, but she is kind of um, per my request has helped train the new the new playgrounders that are coming in and does that of her own goodwill and choice and just

033does an amazing job with the training the new staff members coming in. And we couldn't be able to operate the way we do and provide a safe playing environment for the students without Elizabeth leaving the helm. So, thank you so much. [Applause] Next, we'd like to call up Mrs. Mongoya. Mrs. Ashley has an amazing giving, dedicated, understanding, passionate, and bold heart for all students and staff. Continental is very lucky to have Mrs. Montoya as a teacher on our campus. Thank you. [Music] Okay. Ready, boys and girls? Everybody say cheese. >> Cheese. >> Alrighty. Thank you so much. You guys are all so amazing. Thank you. Thank you so much. Well, with that said, we appreciate you guys coming. We'll take a two-minute recess if you all want to go home and have dinner and grab a cookie on the way. Thank you for coming. >> Thank you. Yeah, that's right. Good job. [Music] Congratulations [Music] sir. Congratulations. [Music] match. Congratulations. [Music] Good job. [Laughter] Okay, looks like we're all back. The crowd. keep a keep an audience. Um, we did forget the uh I

035did the admin report kind of got blended presentation. Um, so we'd like to just recognize and appreciate the robark united the rowarchs and the strands. Thank you for your takes us to number nine, the consent agenda, which is a motion item. Any discussion before we motion? >> Still with us, Ruth? >> I'll make a motion for their cons. >> Yes, I am. >> I made a motion. >> Oh, I'll second. >> Mrs. Lewis, >> yes. >> Miss Loieber, >> yes. >> Mrs. Yes. >> Yes. Mr. >> Yes. And that takes us to new business >> and that is to approve the >> policies the governing board. >> I'm sorry. Well, we've got all these things to review. Sit back and enjoy. >> So, um, as you recall, it's the second read for approval. And as

036I mentioned at the last meeting, I flagged them and tagged them. There were 15 policies that were deleted. So, it's um ASBA is really just cleaning up their policies. So there isn't anything alarming that we haven't really discussed on these policies. So >> anything that jumps out at you that or they just cleaning it up? >> No, they were cleaning them up. And again, we were just talking about the um the deletions that they made and just some of the language that was cleaned up, but if you recall, um they were trying to simplify a lot of the policies that were very wordy. So, they just condensed them in a way that's better to understand. So with that will this is a sorry the graduation requirements what's >> so graduation requirements that's high school >>

037okay that's pertain to us >> you know we changed the environment >> yeah that's the high school policy >> anything else so this is a motion item even though So motion is would it be just to approve the second reading? Okay, I'll make a motion to approve the second reading of policy. >> I'll second. >> Mrs. Lewis, >> yes. >> Miss Lever, >> yes. >> Mrs. Yeah, Mr. >> Yes. [Music] Okay, >> we apologize. SBA went to a new platform diligent. So some of the items and motions are not on the actual documents. So we are trying to >> like the next one the the annual financial report. >> Okay. So this is an approval item. So Mr. Schuber will enlighten us. All right. See, look. >> We'll just start at page one. Start >>

038sometimes. Yeah. >> Yeah. You're you're fine. As long as Can you guys see that? Okay. >> Perfect. We do see maybe numbers up there. There you go. So, I've been asked to make this quick. Um, I believe the the direct quote was yada yada yada. Here we go. All right. So, first page of the AFR is all of our revenues. It starts off from our local sources, which is all our property taxes. Then it goes into county funds, state funds, and then federal funds after that. Um, so from this page, you can see where all of our revenues came from. On the second page, Oops, I'm sorry. >> I'm looking at a different page. >> I know. That's what I was just wondering. >> Because her page one and my page one are different. Go

039ahead. You went too far. There we go. There's >> going to >> There's And this is why we can't just say yada yada yada. >> So go ahead repeat. >> Okay. So income's coming in property tax. >> So that first top section is our local revenue. So this is what we received from property taxes. The second section is from the county. So if she scrolls up a touch, went the other way. Sorry. So there's your county funds at the bottom. Go a little bit further, we'll get into state and then federal's right under that. So there's all of our revenues. Um then there's some bond information below that. The next page is our expenditures within the M fund. So the top section here is is the 100s which is our regular education folks um and

040everybody that would that fall underneath that. So student support, general administration, school admin, uh grounds maintenance. So there is our expenditures within that column. The next column below there is our special ed section. So there's our expenditures within special ed. Back up to the other section. >> So I see some of them your budgeted and actual numbers. Some are some right on some are a lot higher. Like for example, instructional staff budgeted 94 and came in at 26. >> Yes, we had extra benefits that we paid for um that weren't expected at the beginning when we did our budget. So that's going to be additional um health insurance costs involved in there. >> Well, it's nice to see you're almost 200,000. >> Yes. >> Below the budget. Yes. >> Um the next p if we

041scroll down a little bit more there's our expenditures within sped. As you can see we had an increase in sp about $76,000 that we had spent over the previous and the transportation. And then after that the only other thing on that page is our K3 reading program. Now the K3 reading it's going to show more than the budget is because what we received for K3 reading we spent more than that within under salaries and benefits of that one employee. The next page is our classroom site fund popularly known as Brock 301 or fund 10 if anybody was curious. So these are our expenditures within in our classroom site fund. As you can see, everything was spent. I'm sorry. This is the revenue. I'm sorry. Revenue is at the top and then the expenditures are right

042there at the bottom. So, we ended up spending $674,731 total last year in our classroom site fund. Go to the next page. So, oh, hold on back. Sorry. Okay. So you took in 547 and spent 674. >> Yes, we had >> 301 money because you had money left over >> there because there was money left over. So in order to make sure that we keep that that buffer that we want to keep in that fund at the end of the year that that last performance pay was higher than what we were expected. So so we make sure that it was handed out to the teachers. >> Good job. So after the classroom site fund page, we get into our capital. So here's our expenditures within capital. You can see that we budgeted 382, spent 339.

043Um nothing within capital was spent for employees salaries or benefits. It's just a not a good place to spend your capital dollars as they're limited as they are. Um, you can see if you scroll down a little bit more there at the 136 that is our principal on the bus leases. The 17879 it's the interest on those leases. Um, none of our capital dollars were spent in renovation or new construction. It was just basically other stuff as they were classified here as the other. You want to reiterate the good news about that? >> No, go ahead. We, if I remember right, we're making our last payment of roughly 150,000. When are you making that? >> July. In July. So, next year. >> Then we'll loan and free and clear. >> Next. >> And then we

044need five more. >> That'll be next year money. So, >> that's cool, though. So, here's a breakdown of the assets within it. Oh, scroll back down. There you go. It's a breakdown of our um our assets that we have. We have $37,000 in land and improvements. So that's the value of just the land. Our buildings are we have a value of 22,110,155. And all of our furniture, equipment, technology, and vehicles has a value current value of 2 almost $2.4 million. >> Not that I want the land value to go up by any means. So, but why is it so low? >> Because the price per acre, the price per acre really isn't that high. >> Unless you want to build a house on, >> but when some of that land is sitting, you know, just

045vacant and it's unapproved, >> it's not there's not a whole lot to do. At some point in time, we need to do maybe a study session or something about the land we own down next to Madera Highlands. >> Was it 8 acres? >> No, it's like 20. That's why my question is that just the land that school's sitting on now or is that the three acres across the road and the 28 acres down or 21 acres? >> It is the entire acres of the district. That seems >> really behind. >> So it was the original value of the land. >> Yeah. >> So every year that value actually goes down because of depreciation. >> So it's not a real fair market value. >> It is how the state calculates our assets >> which is good

046for us. >> But if we decided to sell that property be way higher. >> It would be much higher. >> Yeah. >> Just because the time frame of when they're receiving the land versus now the land values have changed. >> We don't have to pay like if I own it and got it 20 years ago. We're not paying like >> all right. Federal state projects is our next page. So here is all the revenues and expenditures that we received from from our different federal grants. Are those actually in the bank or promised? >> These are expenditures and receipts from last year. So this is actually what was recited last year. >> Yes. Remember, we're we're doing a recap. >> Yeah. >> Of our previous fiscal year. >> And unfortunately, a lot of those will probably

047go down when we do this this time next year. All right. So, the next page is our cash accounts. So these are all of our um our civic center which is where we get for our facility usage auxiliary for getting those are studentled clubs extra tax credits get some donations. Um, you see that line 14 there, insurance proceeds. That money is still sitting there that we received a check from the insurance company for hail damage to our roofs. So once that roofing project with the SFB comes through, that those funds will go towards paying that. Um, scroll down a little bit further, the energy and water savings. So that's the funding that we receive from the difference of what we were supposed to save with the solar versus what we actually did. So those funds

048come into there and then they go right back out as a as an offset to our energy funds in our M fund. Um emergency deficiency or I'm sorry the building renewal grant that is our SFB money. So you can see we spent $839,000 of the SFB's money last year. So not quite the million dollars I was hoping for. And then you see student activities and employee insurance proponents below that. Let's go on to the next one unless there's any questions on that page. All right. So this is this is our breakdown page for our outstanding bonds. On July 1st of 24, we had 9.9 million in outstanding bonds. We retired 835,000, so we've got 9.1 million still outstanding in our bonds. Um our primary uh property evaluation was 475,965,86 which produces a tax rate of

0491.235. Um secondary valuations on on the properties within our district boundaries is 673,17,546 which produced a tax rate of.1359. And then below there you see that we just have the one school that we were in session for 177 days and we are our district encompasses 147 square miles. >> Greg on the bond if I'm looking at that right we'll pay that off in 10 years or so >> if not more if not sooner. That's true because that's interest change, >> right? Because we're going to be paying more towards principal versus interest. >> And those and those bonds have much lower rates than what they had when those bonds were originally issued. >> But we talked about if we're going to build anywhere, we'd have to go out for bond. >> Yes. >> Additional bond. So

050>> So this one needs to be paid off before >> No. No. because each district based upon um their size has a bonding capacity. I don't know what ours is. Um but we can bond up to that capacity and that's why we hire people to to put all that stuff together for us. >> Yeah, you weren't here when we put this out. >> No, I wasn't here when this is taken care of, but I have gone through bonds before. Um, so if you break down our expenditures by categories within our classroom instruction, not including our supplies, classroom supplies, we spent just over $4.1 million. So that would that does include salaries and benefits. Um the just the classroom supplies was 242,000 administration 1.2 support services 747,000 and all other support operations was 2.5 million for

051a total expenditure of 8.9. So that will include all of our grants and everything else. um what we spent from federal funds was 277,000 and total expenditures that we made from state and local funds was 8.6 million. Now remember almost 900,000 of that is S&P limit. uh long-term debt. There's the breakdown again that we spent $136,000 on principal, 178 on interest, and software subscriptions that we have that are longer than 12 months, we spent almost $1,300. Over on the right side, if you can, can you scroll that over a little bit? So in substitute teachers last year we spent $67,79 right there. Um, and just above that, the average salary for teachers in FYI25, which does not include any Prop 301 monies, but it does include any any club siphons that they received for coaching,

052was 44,739, which is up from the previous year of 43,470. So, that went up almost 3%. Um going back down to the bottom, classroom teacher base salaries, 42 teachers, we spent 1.8 million. Um classroom teachers in their first three years, we spent out of that 1.8 almost 300,000 and fourth year later teachers was 1.5 million. Uh classroom teacher performance pay we spent 439,000 and additional duty pays. So, this would be like the tutoring that they do after school, things like that. We spent $58,000. Um, next page, unless there's any questions on that one. >> It's just a shame that we only get 277,000, but I guess we're lucky to get that. and looking at the substitute teacher funds. So, you know, we talk about that $67,000. It's a it's a large chunk of change. So

053we try to figure out like for example the day we're doing the learning block and we have our leader and me team that's going to be um four substitutes with one teacher getting internal coverage and using the subs when the teachers have planning time. So we try to you know we think about that's an expensive day with substitutes but also the value of the learning walk and giving all the teachers a chance to see each other and have those discussions to align our work is very important. So we do we start we used to do um three to four of those a year. So this year to cut costs we're going to do just one per semester and one during the block second semester. So that's a way that we're trying to um save some

054of the sub costs. >> Yeah. >> Right. For staff and we our teachers really do a lot of covering for each other. So in terms of if it's if it's a doctor's appointment or they just have to be gone for two hours, we find internal coverage so that we don't have to pay some for a half day. And if they're here for how long then we have to now pay them full day, right? If they're here >> over four hours, then we have to pay them for a full day whether we lose them or not. >> So that's for the sub. >> And then a few years back the the law that went into effect on that subs can get sick days. So if we call them and they're sick, we they have a sick

055leave bank as well. So then we have to pay them. >> But only if you call them. I mean, if we call them and they're sick, they can collect their sick pay as well. >> Uh there's not a lot of it, but it's we've paid out a little bit on that. But it really is um you know, it's some districts they do incentives to teachers who don't miss a day, right? In order to try to alleviate the sub the subcost fee. tell you Walton Grove, they're out all the time. That's from what my kids said. You heard that? >> Yeah. >> So, it's um a study session for future, right? So, we can look at if we're going to save. That's one place that we could save, but how would we do that? >> And

056and remember, this is just substitute teachers. This does not include any bus drivers that we are using for subs, right? any of our aids that need to be, you know, spec with specific children. It doesn't include those either. This is just teachers. >> And you have a pretty good sub. >> Yeah. >> So, if a parro calls out that's to a certain student, what do you guys do to cover that parro? >> So, we do have subparas as well, okay? But we also are trying to get to the point where we ship pair of pros to cover for each other or have the teacher cover the minutes, you know, and do that. So, we work closely with Mrs. Weiss and Mrs. Webas to make sure that they're covered. >> All right. Now, we can go

057to the next page. Oh, unless you have something, sir. >> No. >> Oh, okay. So this the next page is our gifted education at the top. These were kids that were identified. We're on page eight. Keep going. No, next page. Next page. There you go. So it's page eight of the page. So these were students identified as gifted by grade level. Um you can see that what we spent within the each of the categories. So if you look at just total disability, we spent 1.1 million and we did spend our $2,000. We said we would think gifted. Um there really isn't a whole lot else on this page. Um our audit expense over there on the right of $24,500. Um, the good thing about spending that money on the audit is the following year we

058get that back. So, audit expenses are one of those things that come back to you every single year. >> And just notice gifted education, right? We talked about how what we receive for gifted ed, >> you know, that $2,000 is >> covering the material that we're using to teach, but it doesn't cover the cost of a teacher. So that's 13 kids at our school. Is that >> now within those 13? So these are the highest the highest uh level of gifted kids. This isn't the ones that were just on the board. These are the ones that are actually tested and show as gifted. >> Yes. >> And some of those students can be counted in more than one category. So because it's showing quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning. So some of those kids

059could be in multiple categories. >> All right, got the next page. >> I'm sorry. >> I just said it seems low, but I don't I mean I mean that's just your smart kids. They all look smart to me. No. >> Well, and and there's a difference between smart and gift. >> I understand. I understand. >> Truly identified gifted children, right? Based on the assessment because our our students obviously with the data and the growth and where we fall in the state, >> we have some pretty smart kids. >> I know. But I'm just old. >> Yeah. When I saw the other boards in the other in the planning room >> that looked really significant and >> impressive and then it's like oh >> you know I mean it was just >> Yeah. So it's like

060it's apples and oranges. >> I understand by looking at that I thought that that number would be higher. So the next page is all of our fun. But this is going to include every single fund that we have with the exception of the um the 850 and the 855 funds which is student student accounts and um employee benefits. So this is a a solid shot at everything that we've spent throughout the the course of the year. And as you see right there under in the giant gray category, that redemption principle, that is the redemption principle on our lease and on our bonds. And the interest is also the on our lease and on our bonds. All right. Um just one more quick thing on this page. Um, right there towards the middle, utilities and energy.

061On utilities, we spent $5,883, but on energy we spent $255,000. Um, out of that 255, um, 75,000 of that came from the the 665. It's the energy and water savings account. So that's the money that we received from the the solar psy. All right. Um over on the right is what we spent within technology. Um I guess the the big one there is the our hardware and software that that had a cost of less than $5,000. We spent almost $93,000. Anybody have any questions on that one? Cuz these next ones are going to go by super quick. >> Just the technology though. Sorry. Does that include um every line item that we order technology through or donations from like let's say with the grant? So this is just this is just expenses expenditures. So it

062doesn't show any of the revenues. >> Okay. So >> so so it's going to be >> any repairs or or maintenance. It's going to be any technical services. It includes our phone of $22,000 a year. Um software for the for library books, textbooks, instructional aid. So that'll be ours and all the other technology even the technology that we purchased from the library and bug tracking system that's all included in that fund uh technology supplies. So when we purchase the covers for the for the Chromebooks. So that's all that's all going to be done. All right, next page. Co money. Well, we didn't have any left because it was all supposed to be spent before this year began. Um, if you scroll to the bottom right there, you can see that we spent every dollar of

063our CO funds but $119. So out of $783,244 that we received, we spent all but $119. >> Good job. >> So this is new this year. They've actually added the food service AFR within the our regular AFR. This is usually been a standalone. So we received $32,000 in revenue. We spent 371. So it would ended up being a negative for the year. Hence the reason, one of the reasons why we have to raise lunch prices this year. You know, cost of food goes up. You know, we try to keep our families as least impacted as possible, but this year the the lunch meal prices did go up. Over on the left, you can see how many meals that we served over the course of the year. We served 22,694 breakfasts to students, almost 58,000 lunches,

064and served almost 5,800 snacks. Um, to our staff, we served 68 breakfasts, 1300 lunches, and almost 8,600 alakart. >> Where is that? It is >> on the left side. >> Okay, I see. Got it. >> Okay. So, the difference between an actual lunch and an alloc cart is how many items that they are getting. So, if a teacher just wants a salad, that's an allocart item. If a teacher wants the full lunch with the with the protein, the bread, the grain, the fruit, the vegetables, the milk, that is a full lunch. You can see how healthy our staff is because they're ordering the salads. >> But then again, I also order allocarton if it's like a >> pizza >> cheeseburger day. I'm just having a cheeseburger >> just no snacks. >> What um percentage of

065our kids are on reduced meat press? >> 37. Yeah. >> Don't we have to be at 37% supposed to be at 40 >> at 40 title one? So we always >> just totally round up and we're glad that the feds do too. >> So finally we get to the last page and this is just a summary of everything we just went through. So if you'd like next year we can just start with this page and call it a night. Okay. >> But this page does require the president's board president's signature. So we need to make sure that we get that if you do approve tonight. With that, I will open it up to any other questions that the board may have. >> I think this is one of the best reviews we've had. >> Yeah,

066I like the format. For some reason, it seemed easy. >> Yeah, it did. I don't know if you change your format or I just understand. seen it so many darn times. >> I just felt like it was easy to follow along. So kudos. I was impressed with it. >> So just for Mrs. Lewis, um we will get a report from this information. We get the report that compares us to the state. >> Okay. >> And to to other districts on where we are in terms of percentage of expenditures. >> Will we get a copy of this as well? May I have a copy? It it'll be on the district website. >> So, tomorrow it'll be uploaded. >> It's also once we get logged in. >> I'll work on that tomorrow. >> I make a motion

067to approve the annual financial report. I second that. >> Miss Lewis. Yes, >> Mrs. Lever. >> Yes, Mrs. Amarz. >> Yes, >> Mr. Omus. Okay, >> thanks again, Gregory. Now is to uh talk about the UN memo of understanding between American Intercontinental University and US. >> So, actually this one is me. Um, so I met with um the American Intercontinental University and we did have an MOU that was uh approved prior to but they've now added other programs with the masters in leadership and they have some fasttracks for people who want to go to school. So um this is theou that needs to be approved so that they can come and explain the programs that they have um that are certifying teachers faster than GCU, ASU, UFA, NAU um and their rates are lower as

068well. So, I think it'd be a good opportunity for some of our um staff who want to continue their education and they actually even started a doctoral program, >> but they keep trying to convince me to to be a part of that. So, >> we'll see. Um >> I know, right? is that when you pull up your tax credit, the form is that what's underneath the continental that some of people were getting confused when you go get our tax credit number because I had a couple people who didn't get a receipt and they asked for the tax credit number for the school and they pull it up. It was Continental University or something and then Continental School and it was like right below Oh, interesting. I did not know that. >> So I was >>

069Well, this is not really publicly posted anywhere >> so that it's something totally different. Okay. I was just curious. >> Just look at the wrong place because I've done my taxes many years. I find it. >> Yeah. It's when you pull up um to look for the number for the tax credit for your taxes. There's some there's a secondary continental number. I didn't know >> that. That number is actually on the receipt that we mail everybody that's sent. >> That's what I told and either she misplaced it or she did not receive one. We both >> He's pretty good at sending us out >> and we can >> Yeah, if I know it, I can resend it to him. So, >> okay. >> And it's still at 400 for America. >> Yes. >> Married filing

070joint. >> Married filing single. drops down 200 >> the first for each >> I'll move that we approve theou >> I'll second it >> Mrs. Lewis >> yes >> miss >> yes >> Mrs. >> Mr. Australia. >> Yes. And we're back to the ASBA. This is bylaws now, not policies. >> Give us a little education, please. >> So, the ASBA bylaws. Um, and in our meeting, I think Mrs. Lewis, you might have remembered Mr. Keane talked about the ASBA bylaws. So they um we could probably have Miss Jenna send them separately um to make sure that everybody gets them. >> Um like if she did send them to us, but if you see that there's all the blue line and the red lines on again changing the verbiage and trying to clarify the language to

071make it a little bit more um condensed and legible. So, this is just a first read and then we can have it at our next meeting um for approval, but ASBA does need the support of the boards in order to continue >> the sheba just doesn't have your info yet. Okay. >> So, we can review them and then next sport. Okay. >> Next, the kindness club fourth grade team. >> Yes. >> Cool. Our fourth grade team has um actually taken on a lot of our kindness initiatives for the last couple of years and they requested to make it an official club so that they can continue to >> Are they gonna talk about the founder of the club? >> Do you know them? >> Yes, we do. Missia actually um was wanted to start the

072kindness club when she was probably like in first grade. Uhhuh. So, um, but we are planning a big hub on National Kindness Day in November. Um, I can't remember what day it is, but no, I want to think November 14th or um or the 13th, but we are um ordering shirts and we have the character edunds from the state and from our original tax credit. Um, So we'll be >> stay tuned as soon as we can get a date. >> Yeah, I'll put on the calendar. >> Anybody want a motion then? >> I'll motion. >> I'll approve the kindness. I'll second that. >> Mrs. Lewis, >> yes. >> Miss Lever, >> yes. >> Mrs. Amarz, >> yes. >> Mr. Austral, >> yes. We're almost there, Ruth. Hang in there. All right. >> Oh, more more

073Mr. Gray. >> I I knew that you couldn't get enough one left. >> This is our monthly um report. Um it does have now that last year's officially closed out, it does have all the updated figures in it. So you can see that there's our our cash balance with the county and our MLO fund what we've received so far uh this this school year as far as our taxes and then below that the expenditures within and it also reminding you that the column on the far right under the expenses that is the percent of the budget that is still remaining. Just scroll down a little bit there. So roughly 22% of our budget remaining. So I bring this to you tonight for your approvals. >> I'll make the motion of district financial report. I have

074a question. >> Okay. You said you have 22% left >> roughly, but out of that 22% all the funds that are within benefit lines are not showing they don't show as encumbered because they don't show up until we actually run payroll. >> So those actually >> only 25% for school. >> Yes. >> For the year. >> But it so what you're seeing is the encumber. So like scroll up real quick. So you can see under salaries under the 6100 line right there, the very first one >> that we have already spent 446,000 in salary. We still have another 1.6 to spend for a total of 2.1. So there's still 229,000 left there. But the benefit line is still showing 484,000. But that is without paying the benefits on future payrolls. So that number drastically drops

075every single pay period. So that 21.9 is a little misleading simply because the benefits don't show as being in company. Okay. Um I'll second Mrs. Lewis, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lever, >> yes. Mrs. Amarz, >> and M. >> Yes. >> Okay, we got through that. So, bunch of events. >> Day is November 13th. Oh, good. >> And Jenna, do we have a call to the public? >> No. Do we move that permanently? public. >> Okay, that takes us to governing board information discussion which I have something not that you all can't go but so I don't forget. So I propose that we move um for various reasons our December meeting to December 3rd it was the four 9th just because of some scheduling conflicts. >> December second is the Tuesday. Oh, is it two? I

076just have one. >> December second. >> Okay. Is the school board instead >> Instead of the night. >> And if you recall, we talked about the budget that has to be approved. >> The if we have to do a revision, it has to be done before December 15th. So, we'll plan to get it at the November meeting, but if not, we'll have the December 2nd if it's change. What is the date of the November meeting? >> November 4th. >> Generally speaking, Michelle, it's the second Tuesday of the month, but we move that I forget. Veterans Day, Veterans Day. >> You guys good with that? >> Okay. was the second December 2nd. >> Rudy, >> December 2nd. >> Yes, that worked. >> Okay, cool. >> And Andrew said it worked for him, too. >> Okay. >>

077Also, what other date? As you recall, um Dr. Phil Silvers wanted to do the FIA dinner for us and that was scheduled for October, but um uh the Bonnie Clark can't be in attendance and he really wants >> Okay. both presidents and both members available. So, we were proposing um Thursday, November 6th and it's spouses are invited or if you want to bring friends and family, but it's for our for our leadership team as well for everybody here. >> Five o'clock. >> At five o'clock. Uhhuh. >> Here. >> No, it's at his house. >> So, you'll get us all? Yeah, we'll get all the information, but we just wanted to confirm the date. >> What is pa? >> The paella is a It's like a >> It's rice and seafood. >> Yes. And he'll make

078one chicken. >> Like a gumbo, but he'll make a seafood one and then a regular chicken. Um, >> it's a >> They say it's delicious for people who have had it. Michelle, you've had it before. >> Yes. >> And he really just wants to thank people. He asked me also if we wanted to invite if we wanted to let the Green Valley News know. And I really don't think we need to let the Green Valley News know, but um, he really wants to just show an appreciation for the leaders and the community involvement in our school who support that news. Who is this? >> Um, Dr. Phil Silvers. He's a vertarian. >> Okay. >> And he's had a long history in education. >> Yes. He he keeps me updated on educational trends and things that

079are going on. So, are you is everybody okay with the Thursday the 6th? >> Okay. >> I have one announcement. If we can wait, is this the time? Yeah. >> Okay. Um perhaps you'll want to notify the families of this. Um there is a warmth from the heart code drive that will be distributing children and adult coats heavy sweaters outerear clothing and that is going to be on Saturday November 8th at the safari school at from 8 to noon. >> Anybody can go to that. >> Anybody can go. And does it need to be new or slightly used? >> Well, we're collecting coats right now and some are new. Most are used, but we're very discerning in what we put out. to me if they go. >> Do you have a box that you can

080bring here so that we have we have parents and people that would probably donate to that? >> Oh, okay. I can do that. Okay. >> Can you work on that and get that in the front office? because I'm sure if we put that out in the newsletter that we would have >> more usually >> Oh, you We're moving up, huh? You always have to go back in and reset these. [Music] Yep. [Music] What are you doing Saturday? [Music] Just make sure you go back to the red tab. [Music] the same place that used to be. >> Yes. >> One is real. Yeah. [Music] >> She turned it over. So tell us about those houses that were being built. Apparently, >> you're holding us up. >> There there's talk of a neighborhood going up and it

081was actually We haven't got confirmation that it's actually remember we talked about this land if it's a part of our district or Serenas. We weren't 100% sure because we had the conversation. No one can tell me exactly where that location is. >> Apparently there's land leveling right now. So we have to take it right by the rest area right next >> so we have remember >> we'll agend at 7:33 right so it's going to be either side of the boundary or our side if it's close to state that's us if That's
