001Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Roll call, please. Mrs. Ly here. Mrs. A here. Mr. should be given. Mrs. Allen here, Mr. O here. And next is to approve the agenda. I'll make a motion to approve the agenda. I second. Mrs. Lever. Yes. Mrs. Yes. Mrs. Allen. Yes. And Mr. Austria. Yes. And with that, we will go into executive session. Now, do we need to wait to let's say we get done at 5:30 we need to wait till 6 to regular meeting? No, we can come right move right into the meeting since there's no right. Yes. Okay. Okay. [Music] Okay, we'll go back in session at 5:59. Okay, no call
002to the public. So, we need to approve May 13th meetings minutes. I move to approve the meeting minutes. I'll second it. Yes. This is Alex. Yes. And Mr. Australia. And I'm a yes. And that takes us right into our superintendent's June. All righty. It's very short and sweet. because you've listened to me for almost an hour already. Our summer professional development, just an update that our admin team and some pre-teachers attended the ASA summer conference. So, we're going to be sharing some of that information at our admin retreat possibly with our teachers for new teacher orientation. CPI, the crisis prevention institute training which is focused on deescalation techniques. Um next week distribu will be attending that livestock and like I mentioned in our executive session that our admin retreat will take place next Thursday and
003Friday to plan for upcoming preser information technology update by Mr. Ferguson. We have 75 new Chromebooks have been delivered and onboarded. They'll be distributed to first grade um students in July. And um I could not believe that they're going to follow the students to the class of 2033. End of life will be in 2033. Scary. Um and if you recall, we had put in and pilated the base sensors. um the 10 air quality sensors that were installed in the school and um we are going to add one more at the snack bar in the outdoor area and um just want to show you that the sensors have detected a total of 54 vape index events during the year and you can just see the data there. Only one event occurred while school was in session.
004So, you may recall me sharing that our parents during like games during games and during events um some of our um contracted workers who come in to do work are setting them off. So, information go out from the news that we actually sign there on the doors. We don't know that they're monitored. So it's just it goes back to that here we are trying to you know during student advisory we had a whole presentation on the the effects of vaping and we have adults on campus that are parents who are vaping. So again it goes back to kids not it's a big deal but they're not doing it at school so kids are not. So we're talking about that. Um and again I just want to thank Mrs. Alan, our governing board member, an extra
005special shout out and thank you to you for oh your four years of service is supposed to be that it's been four years, right? Fourth year. Okay. Um on our on our board and just your contribution and your ideas and the feedback and coming from educa parents who have been educators I think has really been essential to your contribution to our board and the progress of our school and our students. So, we do have flowers and a card for you that we will um give to you and we will take the picture before because as you know, I said it's going to be really hard to have a an amazing board like we have an amazing team that we have now. You and Daddy will be missed and my son is in North Carolina for
006the next two years. So I lifting you up to see how close you are to where he is. Okay. Well, thank you and again to the board, thank you all for your continued support as we wrap up another successful and amazing year and the leadership team that I just bragged about in the executive session. They're here and we really couldn't meet our goals without our our leadership team and with our board that we have. So, thank you all for being here. [Music] Takes us to the principal. Okay. So, for my principal report, I'm going to be going over the spring 2025 district benchmark data. And um I'm going to be going over just showing you some of the norms uh averages of where students are in comparison to NWBA norms for the year. They have
007norms for fall, winter, and spring where students should be landing for reading, mathematics, language usage, and general science. But to start, I want to just I created this report and then I thought I want to see where we were just a few years ago. So, I went and looked at some data. So, blast from the past. Um, I want to show you I don't know if you could Are you able? Um, so from the 2022 23 school year, I just want to want you to just see what math and reading look like. Um, so if you look for spring, 189 would be, you know, the average of where we want our students to be at for second grade in mathematics. And our students were at 162. This was two years ago. And if you look
008at 162, the 160s would be like beginning of first grade. That's where our second graders were ending. Third graders were ending at 172 where they should have been around 189. So 172 would be the end of middle of first grade. Uh our fourth graders were at 192 and 192 would be the beginning of third grade. So you can kind of see where this is going and it kind of goes like that. After fifth grade, they had ended at the average mean for their RIT scores was 198 in fifth grade and a 198 would be middle of third grade around that. Our sixth graders were ending at 206 and 206 would be um middle of fourth grade. 219 was our seventh graders in mathematics is where they were ending 219 and that would be middle of
009sixth grade. And for our eighth graders also they were ending their mean score for mathematics was 219 which again was middle of sixth grade the winter of sixth grade. So if you can see we were below where they should be in all grade levels in 2022 23 based off of the national norms. Okay. So then we'll go to see where we were at in the past with reading. The same type of thing. The same type of thing for reading. Our second graders were ending at 157 and 157 will put them like middle of first grade and I'll jump to fifth grade. they were at 192. Fifth graders were at 192, which would be um middle or beginning of third grade. And our eighth graders were at 210 for reading, which would be beginning of sixth
010grade. Okay, this is where we were 2022 23 is how we were ending the year with our average RIT scores. Now going back into the future because we went to the past, back to the future. Here we are at for mathematics and you can see that the norms and you have the chart in front of you but we are beating the norms in every grade level almost every grade level and where we're off it's just by a smidge so we have to take into account some of our students who are going through the MTSS process for needing for having learning gaps um some of our students who may be um struggling but are working towards their IEP goals. So, we have to take into account all of that as well or just some students that
011were having a hard day during testing that day, but not far off at all. Um, but we're going up and where we did go have some little dips. This is good information for us because it's not huge dips like it was two years ago. It was huge big grade level gaps. And as you can see, we're going up in our or beating the averages, the red averages, which is amazing. So that's mathematics. And then this is for reading. And you'll see the same type of thing where we're beating it, you know, in every area except a few, but we're not so far off. And the same across the board for reading. And we use this data to then guide our planning for the next school year. So when we get together with our teachers for
012pre-ervice, we're going to go over this data and show it to them as well. um so that they can celebrate the hard work of where we were at to where we're at now and then we can decide where we want to go from now on. Um that was reading and then we can move on to language usage which is writing writing punctuation all areas. Um third grade was at 194 which 198 is where we want to be at. So, we'll be working in that area, too. And then, um, for science, third grade was at 194 and 195.88. So, just off by a little bit, but all of the other grades um, surpassed the mean average rate. So, we're really excited. So the data shows us the cohorts that we need to focus on as I
013mentioned and begin those interventions and then it also shows us the areas of strength in the grade levels. So we can collaborate with those teams and say what are you doing to see those that growth? What are you doing for interventions? what can we do in this grade level that we weren't doing before when they collaborate together um across grade levels and we'll begin those data digs like I said during pre-ervice right away so we can reflect on the wins and reflect on the work that we're going to move forward with and just a little snippet we're doing summer school colt camp which we're almost done with week two it's been going on daily since June 2nd and it and it will end on Wednesday June 18th here's a snap snapshot averaging 83 to 87
014students per day. Kinder jump start we have 17 enrolls which is the biggest we've had in quite some time. First grade 10 enrolled second and third 22 because they're combining fourth and fifth 19 enrolled 6 through 8 16 enrolled and then we have extended school year through our special education department we have four enrolled specialist class that's been going on is art and Spanish art. So, our students have been working on some themes throughout the past two weeks. And when they go to our class, they're also intertwining Spanish for all of the grade levels. And we have our nurse who's also conducting health and wellness classes throughout the past two and a half weeks, working a lot with our middle schoolers as well and providing um like testing techniques, stress, what do you do when
015you have stress? They're there's so many lessons she's been doing. The lesson you see up here she was doing with kindergarteners. They went on a camping trip. So, they used cinnamon powder as the germs. They got to put their hands in the cinnamon powder. They used lake water to clean each other's hands. And then we had some music playing. So, it sounded like they were really by a lake. And it was the lesson was have you stay even when you're not in a place that has a restroom or sinks, how do you take care of yourself so that you don't have germs that you're spreading around? So, the kindergarteners, this was day one, and they loved it. It was really fun to see them. We're going to be having a reading macros test on June
01616th because that's what we've really been wanting to hit. And as you can see in our data, that's something that we've been wanting to continue on with our literacy and see how our students um have fared after two week two and a half weeks of summer school or two weeks. We have a field trip that's going to be coming up next Tuesday. And then we end with our showcase on June 18th and you are invited to that. It starts at 10:30. And here's some pictures of all of our students. That's our kindergarteners. The first day at Jump Start. We have science going on. So you'll see the phases of the moon. They got to eat the Oreo cookie, the yummy parts of the Oreo cookie. So they create the phases of the moon. We also
017have um reading with the dog. They still partnered with us and they're coming so that they can read with the students. We had some science happening in middle school. They were creating soap bombs and working with measurement math and that was also some specialist time that we intertwined but the teachers were trying. I would like to say thank you for another great school year. We see a lot of growth but we we still have set our goals. We're talking about goals where we want to where we want to take our our students and we already started really great conversations with our site leadership team. And at the ASA conference, we had Miss Mrs. Greer and Mrs. Adams with us from fifth grade and had some good conversations about some plans and some trainings the teachers
018would like to start doing for each other this coming school year when it comes to the curriculum dashboards, exit tickets, and continuing the student growth. So, we're really excited to see what next school year holds. And just so you know, our theme last year was friends. So, our theme going into this school year is back to the future ABC. So, the teachers are really excited about that that I've talked to so far. So, thank you for your support. It's a collective effort and all of the goals that you have as a board and your support has really helped us to work hard in reaching our site goals and and we appreciate your help. Thank you. Thank you. Good job. And again, there's just thank you letters and the donations for [Music] Okay, with that we
019don't have anything on our special recognition. So, we'll go to our consent agenda. I'll move to approve the consent agenda. I'll second discussion. Welcome back, Mr. Cracker. Did our um cell phone statement stay the same? Yes, [Music] I guess. Yeah, I guess cell phone rates stay pretty much the same. [Music] Okay. Mrs. Lever. Yes. Mrs. Alen. Yes. Mr. Ros. Yes. That will take us all the way to new business. And the first thing is the annual superintendent summitive evaluation for which we just talked about. So it's just action was discussed. I'll move to approve um superintendent summited evaluation for 2425. I'll second this. Yes, Mr. Allen. Yes, Mr. Ash. Yes. The next is to approve the superintendent's performance pay as discussed in executive session. Move to approve the superintendent performance pay as discussed. I will
020second it. Mira. Yes. Mrs. Allen. Yes. Mr. Astro. Yes. And it looks like we want to continue our um beyond textbooks agreement with Unified School District. I'll move to approve the IG with school districts and beyond textbooks. I'll second. Yes. Mrs. Allen. Yes. Mr. Ostster. Yes. All right. Now for the fun part. Budget. Well, don't know how fun this part actually is. I know. Um, before I get into what's actually in our proposed budget, let me start by saying that the state on the House side started working on the state budget today and the Senate side will start working on the state's budget tomorrow. So the budget that we have for you for tonight, the proposed budget, um the financial part of it as far as um amount that we received for student and for
021transportation mile and things and such, those are all based on this year's numbers. Um we I did go through and I increased our ADM by 2%. So, it went from 680 or from 585 to 604. Um, and we I did that simply because our registrations prior to the meeting were so much further ahead this year than they were they were last year that I thought it would be prudent to go ahead and do the full 2% as far as the ADM increase. You don't get to fight about it again. They do. I'll give you what you want before that even starts. Good job, Miss Alan. Would you like to discuss the except So, you wanted to go down. Um I mean we can go through the budget and everything else. Um if you wish, but
022really it's right now it's just a paper budget until right now it's more of a formality than anything else. And we're going to go through the what do they call it? The aggregate the aggregate expenditure. Yeah. We're already the states of $1.2 billion over. And as of right now, there isn't anything in place to to stop it. Any questions for No, I'm just like you. I mean, I'd be more than happy to go through it like a a normal budget presentation, but this is really Yeah. What is our total budget? It's a 5.9. 5.9. Okay. Last year was 5.7. Are you anticipating that to change? Oh, it's going to go up. Okay. The M budget will increase. The the capital budget will increase. Okay. So it's everything's going to go up because of the funding
023we're going to get because of the the upgrade in the funding. Yeah. So the funding upgrades it's supposed to upgrade every year, right? So they have to give us um 2% of the state's GDP or the the consumer price index, whichever's the lowest. So how did they come to that? The joint legislative budget. They just they just decided, hey, this isn't the Yeah. Yeah. No. Is that there like logic kind of follow cost of living changes and inflation? I I think what they're trying to do is they're trying to base it when when they said the CPI is what inflation was like at 2%. Okay? So it it didn't cost the state a whole lot of money. And then you throw inflation at, you know, seven and a half%. You know, so that versus GDP,
024which one's going to be cheaper? Yeah. We take six, seven%. Yeah. Well, I I don't know if you've seen it all or not, but since we are speaking of budgets, the state is in a budget shortfall for education. Um, the um the voucher program is way over budget. Who could have seen that? Not the professionals that work in that industry day in and day out. All right. First and second. I move to approve the proposed budget for fiscal year 26. I'll second it. Mr. Yes. Is it Alan? Yes. Mr. Austin. more. And now for the ACE exciting second read of service advisory 819-862. [Music] I move to approve it. I'll second it. I'll second it. [Music] M. Yes. Mrs. Allen. Yes. Mr. Austra. and second read of 863 865. I'm going to approve this other
025policy services advisory als yes Mrs. Allen yes Mr. And the next is just a uh unfinished business PTC financials which is just a discussion. Yeah, we just wanted to include what uh PTC presented to us for you to look at and I know that Mrs. Gwas and Mr. Nathan have already had discussions with the incoming EPC officers in terms of what the expectations will be in terms of transparency for community members. Do they have a treasurer yet? They um they do not have a treasurer, but I believe that there were discussions on them consulting with Mr. She um in order to help them get their finances in order. Okay, correct. Good. Yes. Does that present any sort of conflict of interest or working in more of an advisory role with them? So, as long as
026I can am just helping them along with their financials, there isn't a conflict. Um, as long as we can keep a a clear distinction between PTC funding, school funding, as long as that is there, I mean, that we do have a conflict of interest statement that can be signed off on to to just declare it. So, there wouldn't be an issue with helping. Has anybody done any of the banking stuff yet? I mean as far as signatures and stuff like that couldn't tell. The answer is no because the changeover happens at the end June 30th is the last day. June 30th is the last day of the current PTC when the switch over will happen at that point. Um and then in their bylaws that's where the real conflict comes in and it the president
027vice president cannot be employees of uh staff members employees of the district. the secretary um and the treasurer can be employees of the district according to their bylaws. Once again, we're not over but that's that's what they're by law. Okay. Are those new? No. No. So repeat that. President cannot The president and the vice president cannot be employees of the district. the treasurer can but the treasurer and the secretary can so they were against their own bylaws in the past. Okay. Um, I would like a I think it would be a good way to cover ourselves if you did have a conflict of interest form signed. Just [Music] and the bylaws were presented at our last board meeting. So, just Okay, Greg, you're up again. Oh, yeah. It was just discussion. down where all those
028zeros are right there. All right, we're getting close to the end of the year. We've got 18 days left and just under $29,000 to get us through. I told you guys it was going to be close. Yeah. Um I know that earlier today a discussion was had about the performance pay for the superintendent. Know that if you're looking right about in that middle of that page where the 6100 salaries and if you come across and you see the 77,57562 Let me know if everybody's there. Yeah. All right. You got it down there? Yes, sir. All right. So, that is the amount that is still uncovered. So, within that, there is just over $7,000 for the superintendent's job performance pay. All the way out to the right, you see that there's still $7,149 left that can
029be budgeted for if the superintendent's performance pay is is to go above that. The below that the zero, that's how much money is left in employee benefits, but the balance remaining from the superintendence pay would be transferred into that fund to cover. What about um these other funds purchase services? They're just POS that we still have there. Some of these are fun. They're just sitting there waiting to be moved for the just in case at the end of the year because it always seems to happen that on June 25th something wants to go wrong. you know within the M fund within these sections money can move around to cover things without correct so if there was a increase in that first 6100 salaries which is going to be teachers and everything else teachers and parents
030um we're not going to see an increase in that line because everybody that's here for summer school is being paid out in grants So that's funding that can be moved. Um employee benefits we still have, you know, healthcare to pay for and things like that. So the all the that remaining 289 can be moved interchangeably in between any of these any of these lines. Good job. Not good enough. I need to say it more often. We have a first. Yes. Mrs. Mrs. Allen. Yes. Mr. Austin. Yes. Possible for a Yes. So, um, we will be meeting for dinner for Miss Allen after our meeting. Um, and like Mrs. Webba said, you're invited to our whole camp showcase at 10:30 on June 18th. And mark your calendars for July 30th, our staff pictures, and our building
031board sponsored staff breakfast. We're already talking July 30th. Really? Yes. That's When's the first day of school? August 4th. The camp is at 10 or 10:30. 10:30. First day of school. August. [Music] Yes. No. I know. Sorry. I know. said they were just any um further discussion. We have anything to sign? Yes. Do we um can we get our picture while we get the I just I want to I just want to say I think Steve did a really good job this year with the cell phone or everybody who was involved with the cell phone. I was really impressed with the way the the kids have responded to it. I mean, just the difference in being at home with the cell phone. I'm just really impressed with that. And the playground, I just think this
032has been a really good year. I'm just I'm proud of everybody. So, it was really fun seeing the comments on Facebook, people's minds changing from one day to the next. That was And we were ahead of the mandate. We were we were Yeah, that's why I wrote um taking being a leadership. So that's I mean that's I think they saw that it can be done. [Music] So yeah. So kudos. Good job. Okay. So you're going to sign on any one of those lines and where the right Yes, you need to sign. [Music] Do we have to sign all the time? You know that back room there. Okay. So, the next thing you've got is the minutes from the March 16th board meeting. I am trying to get our AOI officially closed, but AD will not
033take our minutes unless they are signed off by board members. Do you want it on the back? Back is fine because I'm just going to scan the four pages. If I could get the bridge to a sunset [Music] spend money, right? She spends everyone. She spends the most money. Who is Christina? happily. She's not even J. I'm coming back from Flagstaff Monday. We stopped in Phoenix, you know, to get gas or something because when I left it was like 75 degrees and Phoenix was 50. It just was like walking into I'm driving back up tomorrow just for two days. But I liked it. It was really good. the keynotes. I really like the enjoy the keynotes. Keynotes are great. Yeah, it was about telling your story and how it's important to tell your story to
034connect better with your community and the people you work with. I don't think about telling well I tell my story but it does really help you understand I went to one it was you know you guys weren't there another keynote guy and he was talking about reaching out so we all want to go for the low hanging parent advisor because that's And you got the other ones that kind of on the edge that pay attention and they'll vote in that mail and you send them something. But then there's the third group that's really hard. Don't forget you're really saying how and we've talked about that like with our family nights and with our events that we have and having teachers make personal invites to the parents that don't typically show up or the ones who
035we know need it and they need that you know that personal connection in discussing to have what are we calling Mrs. Quas class moms or classy dad to have like a parent leaison for each classroom that helps teachers soccer team to have them help reach out to other parents or include them, right? Because it's always the same group. the ones that need to come are and sometimes too and then nobody else feels like they can jump in, right? And it's it's another data point to disagregate when we look at because they sign in all together but how do we tell which ones are from which classroom? Who are we missing? So it's almost like we have to have staff roers, classroom rosters there so parents can highlight when they're there so we can actually have
036something visible for us to see who has not been attending. So that's something that we can wipe the gels. It's your last time here. Hey, let's get a picture.
