season 8 episode 8 the one where spring is in the air right yes the weather's getting better I just wanted to give you all a tax credit update and thank you so much for all of your tax credit donations so last year we had $108,000 152 on tax credit donations so um as of March 17th we have 150 donors and we've collected $43,000 um our total amount in tax credit right now is $190,000 so as a reminder we use that money for our Civics Club our Washington DC kids um get tax credit donations um to go towards their cost of their trip we still have a couple of students who um would benefit from a little bit of help if we have parents who have not donated tax credit and you want to help one
of pafic students um to finalize paying off their trip that would be great but we use it for clubs Sports tutorials um for paying our coaches and for athletics so um thank you again because we couldn't do and run all the clubs and sports that we do without our community and taxpayers support it's amazing so spread the word there's still time registration and open enrollment so uh we have registration for returning students are trickling in slowly but sure so we just want to remind parents to register as soon as you can because that helps us start to begin to balance classes and um get ready for next year Kinder registration we have 26 students already registered for Kinder for next year so we're excited that our Kinder Roundup brought in um some students we um
we have six under open enrollment seven students pending paperwork so a total of 33 students uh we currently have 48 Kinder students with three teachers and our goal is to get 60 students in in kindergarten our total open enrollment we have 22 students um that are already registered and accepted and you can see the numbers for open enrollment this year we have 98 students under opening moment spring break facilities that were um we had completed projects and work so we finished up the cafeteria sewer repair which has been an ongoing problem that we've been trying to rectify and I think we finally got the solution and got it fixed so we won't have any more trouble with that asphalt was poured um today over the areas that they had to dig over break our new
stage began installation on Monday and was finished on Thursday so we're super excited that our stage um will be up and ready for Alice and Wonderland and all of our end of the year promotions the wiring is continuing to be run for our new access control system with our alarms and we hosted the Green Valley Quilters for a quilt show last Friday and Saturday and there were roughly 750 people who attended and it was new to me in the quilting world because i' never seen anything like it um it was amazing crazy and Mr Schubert became well verst in quilting so if you have any quilting questions or concerns don't touch the quilts don't touch the quilts that's he walked around with me telling me don't touch the quilt but they're so beautiful it's like
a little kid so just bring gloves next time so we're safe but thank you Mr Schubert for over seeing the projects over break and getting that done for us um as you all know we have our state testing our ASA testing reminders um Fifth and eighth graders tested started today for science um next week we will have um achievement testing for third through eighth graders so we just want to reassure parents just help the kids get a good sleep help them get off to a good start in the morning because we know mornings are stressful when you're trying to get kids up and ready to go um and have the kids here on time because if they don't get here on time then we have to pull them aside and um they have to sit
in a room until we can test them a little bit later but boys and girls it's time to show what you know right you got this our math science night was very well attended um you see pictures there and it's just so wonderful to see the parental involvement that we have and the interaction that the parents have with the kids as we're playing math games and um you see the science projects was a great night so we continue to be grateful for parential support our school rotary goober guys they practiced the four-way test with second graders so um how many of you know about rotary clubs okay so I'm part of the vi rotary and Miss was part of rotary as well but we really work on the four-way test and you can see it
is it the truth is it fair to all concerned will it build Goodwill inventor friendships and will it be beneficial to all concern so the Green Valley rotary has a little kids book do we have any second graders here in the room do you remember doing this with the guys that have been coming into your classrooms so they're coming in for four sessions and practicing um the rotary forway test so we're excited about that as well they're super excited to interact with our kids PBIS we had a $100 CT bucks movie party did anybody attend for 100 bucks yes we have a movie attendee back there two okay three good so we had 60 students who used their CT books um to have a movie um party at school so Mrs weas will continue along
with Mr Nathan to try to think of exciting things for you to do with your Cooks thank you our jazz band In Action they U performed at jazz in the desert and that is also a rotary a VI the rotary event and our school actually gets is it 4,000 what are they giving us these days it it changes annually okay okay but we usually get between $2 to $4,000 for actually U performing there at jazz in the desert and our students also received a superior at the jazz festival at NAU so we're super grateful for Miss bti and all that she's doing with our Jazz kids as well Rodeo week festivities so um as some of you know I team rope and ride horses so I brought a little bit of the roping to school
and the kids um wrot the dummy we had a little demonstration so that's always a highlight for me for on Roo week mark your calendars so this Friday we have Scott McIntyre at 9:15 in our gym doing a schoolwide musical assembly he did come last year and he's a singer songwriter and pianist he was the e place finalist on the eth season of American Idol so some of you may have seen him but this is a free program that he does for us um that the efree church has him and they always think about us and we're appreciative so they'll be here they'll be here on Friday so please join us if you can also um Alison Wonderland is coming our Continental musical this link will be sent out to you tomorrow at noon um

about that that their peers wrote about them their peer staff members and we'll do that in the next week's staff meeting um when she's there but she goes above and beyond she she does lots of tutorial cooking club um coaches several sports for us just really goes the extra mile for the kiddos so thank you to M Wade you might be watching I don't know but we'll say a lot more good things about you at another time and then for our classified staff member um for the month of February it is my honor and privilege to ask Mrs Curtis to please come forward [Music] Mrs Curtis's colleagues say Mrs Curtis is just a wonderful person and so very helpful all the time she is such a great person and so very helpful to anyone and
everyone she is so willing to help when she doesn't have an answer she is always willing to find it out she works behind the scenes but does it all truly a team player and always in a good mood Wendy goes above and beyond all day every day she is an essential part of our staff always making sure everyone is where they need to be thank you Mrs Curtis for all you do you are so appreciated I I'd also like to add Wy probably has the hardest job at Continental School because she's in charge of crowling Mrs quos and myself and keeping track of our schedules and our teacher evals and our parent meetings and making sure we're do assemblies on time as well as everything else that that we do and we really couldn't do
what we do and the school wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for Mrs Curtis um backing and supporting us as admin um helping us become better and that's really who she is that she helps everybody around her be better and do better so Mrs Curtis we love you thank you so much for all your hard work you're truly amazing I also just want to add that Mrs Curtis without you and your Forward Thinking and like Mr naan said um the job of a school administrative secretary is like hurting cats 247 and just making sure that everything Clos and that everything's ready and U between her and Jenna I really think that uh they're the brains behind the operation as you know and they always know what's going on and what needs to
happen so I truly appreciate it because I know that you dedicate your time and efforts and we just could Jo without you so we appreciate you so much thank you boys and girls help us give her a round of applause okay ready everybody say cold yes thank you congratulations every hey boys and girls you can go back to your okay thank you good job thank you with that we're going to take a couple minute recess thank you all for coming feel free to stick around to talk about our or have a c and sure you take see [Music] all right you guys ready [Music] not okay so with that we have our consent agenda handful of items I move to approve the consent agenda second any discussion I would just say welcome back to Miss
Rosie Mrs yes Mrs Mr M yes M Miss Allen yes and Mr as yes and we move to item 11 our report items the district Finance room Mr Gray all righty for [Music] all right [Music] so as always this is the district Finance report um I wanted to do something a little bit different this this month just kind of highlight some things for you um if you look at the top line of the 0102 cashion bank that's a $500 deposit that we have to keep with the county treasurer's office it never gets touched it doesn't it never does anything um that 0103 is the actual cash balance that we have on hand so you can see that while it says um budget balance to the 225 928 84 there on the end that's where we're
at right now with cash on hand we we've discussed over the last couple months um the negative cash balance um I've been keeping the superintendent in the loop with my conversations with the county and trying to move some of that cash from the the 610 account which is our capital account into this account so it shows more of a positive um one thing I did want to point out with that is the county treasur doesn't see this as a negative so when the county treasur is looking at our cash on hand um especially when you're talking with the m fund what they're looking at is cash on hand within fund1 which is the m account fund 610 which is our Capital account fund 10 which is classroom site fund and fund 20 which is gambling
money so all of those numbers put together is a huge positive cash flow so just the internal reporting of the negative in1 is just it's just an internal thing the County Treasurer himself doesn't see us having negative cash on hand I just kind of wanted to point that out um that next section there or with the starting with the 1111 down to 3100 that is all cash that has come in this is all of our revenues that we've received um as you can see from current real estate taxes and then interest that interest on investments is where that I had originally tried to to adjust that that $2 million out of capital and put that into there that's why that's an even two2 million if you scroll further on down what you what you really
what as board members what you're really looking for here is in not the very last column but the next little last column one starting with 22670 you you never as a board member want to see a negative number there it would be in parentheses if it was a negative number um that would be showing that that category is we've over spent within that category so the category the lines I'm looking at start at the 22670 and scroll all the way down so next over on the right right hand side second column on the yes so so if you look at the first just straight across 6100 is our salary category and I tell you that it's the salaries um it tells you what was in the budget it tells you how much we spent how
much we um have encumbered and it just gives you that next the last column is um how much is left and then that very last column is the percent of that budget column that's remaining um the very last number that you want to look at on this page is in that same column that 295 888241 that is cash has not been spent or encumbered now we talked we talked last month of the month before about needing to have that cash balance there that number there will continue to go down every time we run a payroll that number will be Reduce by the amount of benefits that are paid so benefits don't get encumbered they're based solely on exactly what has been paid out so as we go through it it says we've got 29 5,000
but we still have seven more payrolls to go for the rest of the school year so that number will continue to go down and down and down down why don't we encumber that it doesn't the system itself doesn't encumber it um I can I put in a budget amount so like you can see anywhere with the 6200 on that the second line from the top $718,000 those are for um so this 1,000 will be your teachers it'll be your pair of Pros anybody that's coded to that 1,000 section that next section is your 2000s so that's going to be your administrators it's going to be your custodians it's going to be your bus drivers I have a question sure sure I'm doing the math in my head we're almost three qus of the way through
the fiscal year um I would normally want to see 25% remaining since we still have a whole quarter but since most of our staff is on a 10mon pay cycle that's how that 16.6 is is going to be okay yes yes that was a long way of saying we're still okay we still have cash we can still pay our bills we can still pay our people but I just kind of wanted to go over because I I know that we've been just kind of saying here it is ask any questions that you want but not knowing what to to look for to ask questions I thought this might be a a good opportunity to actually dig into the report just a little bit so you guys would have a better knowledge of what this is
how to look at it so if we're looking at right now uh 295,000 carryover but the benefits aren't encumbered that's 90,000 okay so if you if you look if we look at that second line 6200 employee benefits and it says 11 19,21 1697 yeah that's what's remaining within that budget category but we're probably GNA spend most not all of it because because it's it's that time of the year yes remember we had talked about budgeting down to the point where we're going to have $75,000 $100,000 left at the end that's what that's what I was going towards it looks like we're going to be about we're gonna so remember last month we did the the auditor General's Financial Risk analysis report this is what is leading into that yeah they they like to see they
like to see you keeping more cash on hand to you know for whatever may come up um within this um it's not shown in this report but we were hit with a little bit of bad news on Monday remember our election we had back in November remember slightly slightly remember how I told you we paid 25% per registered voter to do that election yes yeah well in what was it June June of this year July of this year the rate Chang it's now $150 per registered voter this so calendar year which yes so all the new voters that we so that's extra 5600 voters that we picked up oh so we had the to find $40,000 to pay for the election bill but we didn't know that they were in our district at that time
did we we didn't find were was our measure on their ballot at that time yes oh it was because that was the whole thing with getting ballots out late because they had to make changes so I just kind of wanted to give you that update as well so when we do um the next set of board member elections we're looking having that saying $40,000 Bill to run that election unless they run on opposed unless they run on opposed and they say yeah yeah we paid $440,000 in ballot fees to get $47,000 of bond money that entire override money that entire exercise was a net of ,000 well that that entire exercise is a loss of $40,000 this year but a net of $47,000 next year because we don't see that money until the following scho
so still I'm trying to make it sound good but my Congress then how many votes did we get total yeah I forget if I would have known you asked that question i' should we just charge us for however many people actually voted on our because you know we're on the very back page most people skip down they chart so we have just we didn't have that many votes either well we have over 22,000 registered voters in our district and we paid $150 for each and every single one of them but only 519 of them voted correct H not getting better yeah only one by 300 I'm not here to always give happy chipper news next month all right with that but but but coming back to the report I wanted to give you guys some
tools so you can actually look at the report and actually say hey why are we overspent within Professional Services and can I make a little note that was um I did not understand um until fairly recently assets and income should be negative numbers that's yes that's a positive balance in asset and income okay do we have a motion to approve the fincial rep I'll second any discussion more discussion M yes Mrs yes Mr MCG yes Mrs Allan yes Mr O and I'm a yes and before we move on to uh the new business we're talking to great can you give us an update on the weatherization project sure not happening anytime soon so the sfb is only given a finite amount of money right for weatherization and Roofing projects they award them twice a year
they award them in January February and then they or they issue them again in August September at the end of December beginning of January the sfd sfb was down to like $14 [Music] million and there are Roofing projects out there that are over that amount of money okay so the sfb was is in a we are not approving any new project mode so that we can cover any life safety projects that come up so if if our fire alarm was to go out that would get funded if our HVAC unit went out if would most likely get bumped so with all the projects that we have in now now remember we also have like $3.2 million worth of projects right now and a big chunk of that is the roofing and the weatherization project that's
almost $2 million worth um do you have to reapply for it next year or it's in a queue somewhere so we are already so we are already in we've already done design we've already received bids for construction all we are doing now is waiting on funding do we have to are are we gonna have to get new bids no no contractors already know this as an FB asfb funded project and they've agreed to hold their bids for a year okay i' never do that they also know that they can put in change orders okay and what's the process with change orders in SSB the process is that if a contractor needs a change order I have to fill out a form that I approve the contractor approves it goes to our sfb Lea on to
approve once she approves it I submit a fully signed um change order form which I don't know why I have to do that she's the last one to sign but I submit that form along with an updated purchase order and the change order and it's a and it's approved yeah once once once she already signs off on it it's with reason explainable and you've got a newon now right we still have the same one she is in the process of transitioning to a more of a training position but she is always going to be there for whatever issues that may come up we are speak so we're still speaking of s projects we are in the design phase for a new HVAC unit on the Middle School um I don't know if you guys remember
me talking about how we've spent about half the cost of a brand new unit in repairs and everything else out of the blue I got an approval for that so we're currently in the design phase because we have to get Structural Engineers we have to get electrical engineers um mechanical engineers all these people have to come out say yep your roof will hold this new unit it'll do this you need to redo all your ducting because it's not going to work and we'll start drawing up Blueprints and once the blueprints are designed and approved we'll move towards procurement where we go out the bid get is you know get bids for the new unit get it installed and hopefully I have a whole row of happy people in the middle school so when you say
approve that means you're approve you've got they have funds allocated for that project yes right now funds have been allocated to do the design and that's like $40,000 in architecture the weatherization one is like that's really cute project will give you money when no that's already approved it's still waiting on the FB to say you're funded sfb is probably waiting on their next round so there have been times in the past where the legislature has allocated additional funding to the sfb I've seen it anywhere between an extra $30 million to an extra hundred million just because of everything that's you know schools need you know so if we can tap into that obviously it's not going to happen this year you know the year is basically over legisl is even in session I don't think
so okay okay and one last thing for you next meeting if you could address Federal funding out back up it might us maybe we'll know more with the whole department of education thing and maybe we will maybe we won't so so with Federal fing everything I've seen everything I've read so so far nothing is really going to change with Federal funding we're still going to get money for food service through the national school lunch program our title funds are still going to be there our special needs funds our idea funds are still going to be there they just won't be going through the Department of Education if the Department of Education ends up disappearing there'll be a straight pass through to the states and then the states will send it out and I'm sure they're
going to continue to use the same formulas that they decide who gets what yes we use those formulas who's using those formulas I hope it's not that state of Arizona no the the federal government has their own funding set I don't trust their ability to form right okay new business next year's meeting dates which is pretty much the second Tuesday of the month right yes with a few exceptions yes this is very similar to this years and this is just a discussion anybody is everybody still good with Tuesdays okay we had our uh superintendent contract extension to uh extend for two more years which will take us to end of June 2028 so that's a motion next I'll move to approve the extension of the superintendent's contract in two years I'll second okay M yes
Mr MCG M yes Miss Allan yes Mr I'm very proud to say yes thank you and now for the exciting part the second read of the policy advisory number 801- 807 do we have to approve it this time yes all right I move to approve policy Services advisory number a17 second M yes Mr yes Mrs yes Allan yes Mr a and I yes and the next one is is closing our um online program want to give us a 30 second color on that sure so we only had um one student start and tried the program way back when we opened the a I so it's been since it was approved by the state department it is on our um move on when reading platform and it looks like we're spending money on our aoi but
we haven't actually spent any money so we need to formally close it so it can come off of the reports that they're asking us to report on and if we ever need it again we can just reapply to open open it up so is that I mean I had somebody just this week asked me for our tax ID numbers and she came in with a Comal School Online technical something with the tax ID number so does it have its own tax ID number it's probably the wrong so that's what I said I go I don't think this is it but then then I see the exact same terminology that she brought into me so I just said no that one's not it because I saw District 39 is it this yes move to approve the
closure of our AI program second Mr yes Mr M yes Mrs yes M yes and Mr a in our second or third revision of the calendar is they move the rodeo me yes so since Rodeo change spring had to change spring holidays so it does match somebody do calendar I forget who I was talking to about rodo break they were just like you get what yes so would you get off for the fair oh yeah I the same yes to approve the revised school calendar for train Gru St I'll second Mrs Le yes Mr yes Mrs yes Miss yes Mr a and next you'll see we're we've got a lot of events between now and the uh end of the school year so not even yeah you got a whole another month kindergart graduation is
May 20th May grade is 21st all right so have a little discussion Laur you have [Music] anything yes sir and probably have a paper work sign yes and did you all see the article on Valley news that Mr Nathan and did on the cell phone use it's nice to get positive press ni to see and a lot of my patients read it in there just like Kudos that I was good thing and I brought up the anxious generation book and all the studying that you guys did this year and on thebe with the students and um but the hardest part was mostly parents wanting contact with their kids and then once they realize you're right I just have to this you know I was mostly imp I was very impressed and surprised that so much
of the feedback there was a lot of feedback around that and so much of it was Oh I thought it was going to be bad but they changed my mind right and so Steve to have so many parents coming in already decided how they felt about it Chang very cool you did a very good job on that very good job takes a team yeah just to really kind of let the parents understand that you're thinking about their kids not torturing them had somebody come to me today when they were quoting Naomi they thought it was me I didn't set I'm straight yeah she did a fine job representing yes and B um Team I did show the board our data room so um talked about how we're looking at kids and trying to figure out
what what they need and trying to tell the whole story about the student in terms of student achievements so I think um they have a really good idea of how we identify students that need extra help and enrichment and know the challenges that we face so missas if you want to come in let me know and I can kind of go through the data room with you you've seen it before so okay I do want to go see what it looks like get yeah you should it's really cool yeah just let me know and we can do our little shill with you okay thank you thank you by everyone we're just sign payer and we're done okay by bye thank you [Music] oh I have a question we approved the the February minutes are we
still I thought we to do that anymore it's on video they still have to be approved we just don't have to have written so we still have to approve so I'll post the link to the video picture time next they cance there you go they want head on the they can see you know actually we could do the yearbook when I'm signing student certificates I usually have the yearbook like it's funny that you just mentioned this Cas because she says the same thing about the phone tree I'll be like oh go talk to this person or that person and she's like I don't know who they are and I'm like you know the one with the glasses that's in the third grade P or the fourth grade P she like oh yeah you should I
get lots of request for visuals yes more pictures your words yes got $40,000 ballot fee encumbered so since we weren't sure what we were going to get charged we didn't know how many reg voters we started off with a $1 V so $1 of that $40,000 was so 39,999 wasn't incover correct so yeah we're looking at anend so can we use campaign funds on that if we campaign I'm sorry can you use campaign funds to pay for that if we were to campaign to get funds I mean if one of you guys wanted to make a donation well what if we went got donations if if I had received donations explain if I explained that to some of my peoples that we spent $40,000 to get $47,000 they would you know they flip their Li
yes they can so $40,000 wasn't just for one year the override over for years correct correct no that's first year yeah we get that so it's not just just net seven it's net seven after the first year that how long is that good the override the override is good it's technically good for seven years but starts reducing after year five if you just look at the first year it doesn't seem like it's it but if you look at all the years after that probably about 175,000 is completely yeah I guess over six years this year we lost we get more than that if in tax credit buts but we can't pay for that out tax credit no we cannot pay for that after school voting yeah after scho you know something voting is a civic
duty it is I think we' got to get Crea our Civics Club needs to start campaig collect signatures did that happen before I got here but yeah there was like an endowment yeah you need to make friends with a lot of elderly people or or estate oh your kids are assh maybe we don't leave them money are we done are we still recording Mr Ferguson you got swing the hammer so this is where we get all the views from from watching the last five I think there's still someone watching working on our ratings you're welcome [Music] what what are what are our readings here how many viewers do we have there's one viewer right now one view well I don't that you you no it's our school nurse why just the coun only get one
