water that was his advice to me because I said I want to make it to 100 what are you do and he said I drink a lot of water and I walk a lot we some of the things that we're doing here on our campus that we've just done this past month is Abid professional development training for our teachers and Aid is stand for advancement via individual determination we had a PLC training model on October 30th and it's revolved around everything Aid it was like Avid 101 is what was called the basics and wicker so if you hear your students throughout this year refer to the word wicker it stands for what does it stand for students W stands for writing great I stands for in quiry what it what does a c stand for

you do it every day in your class when they say elbow Partners or partner up what is it you say it collaboration o stands for organization and R stands for reading and there we go writing ining collaboration organization and reading and I wanted to bring that up tonight just just so all of you as our families are aware of if you hear this at home we know what your students are talking about and this was our collaboration U that we had just a few weeks ago with our staff working and learning together and collaborating together we just last week attended the AIS conference uh which is the Arizona administrators um for luy aspiring superintendent and it works to create and provide professional development and support programs for professionals who serve populations of not only Latino

and this is written by your colleagues okay Jesus is always at our becking call he's always willing to help with a smile on his face Jus is kind and caring and he's always willing to help no matter if the job is big or small cus is always ready and willing to help with any task he has been helping cover other duties while we've been short on custodial staff and still finds time to help with whatever tasks or requests car made of him Jus enjoys being around the students is that true students yes and shows them kindness by buying ice cream for the ones who don't have money on Fridays he plays basketball with the middle school students in the morning before his shift starts during school events he will Flex his time so he's able

to be present and be part of the activities and show his support for our students Jus is a hard worker and we enjoy having him around thank you Jus for all that you do it's my honor and privilege to be his supervisor and I tell you what I've never had to tell an employee before you have to use your vacation time where it goes away because this guy says why would I do that this is where I love to be and he tells me that every single time when we get down to the end of the school year and he's zero of his vacation and so it's just an honor to have him here he works super super hard in in keeping their clean campus and this year's been a little rough where we've always

been down at least one if not two custodians and so Jesus does not only his building but somebody else is the entire school year and doesn't complain a single bit and comes and says is there anything else you need me to do boss and so love you man you're awesome and we're glad to have you here thank you I also just want to add that for Halloween I think he had this humongous duffel bag full of candy and I could hear him down the hallway and I thought okay he must have a lot of candy because I kept hearing everybody say oh my gosh this oh my gosh and then he got to my office I'm like oh my gosh but I think he had over how many pieces of Cy 281 pie so he

was getting ready for Halloween probably in the summer because every payday he would go byy candy and everybody got candy on Halloween from Jesus and those are the behind the scenes things that Jesus does that makes himself special and makes him so loved by all of our students and our staff thank you J right and our next Clen porer of the month goes to Mrs Naomi AUST our seven grade middle school science teacher and her colleagues right Naomi AUST has truly shined in her first few months as a teacher at Continental she is kind and supportive of her students she has shown amazing work e work ethic as she provides meaningful and engaging opportunities for her students Mrs ostly is a teacher that has compassion for all of her students she's constantly making learning Fun

by involving her students in experiments and real world situations she's kind caring and empathetic towards students and colleagues we are truly grateful to have Mrs ostly on our team thank you Mrs so Mrs actuallyy came on never have been a teacher before and first year and it's very rare that you see someone just come in a classroom and the kids are so intrigued there's no discipline behaviors that we can see she might disagree with me uh because the kids are so engaged and that's a sign of a great teacher the sign of an amazing teacher is one that when a kid gets in trouble and ends up in the reflection room with Mr lean for a day or two or at least gives up their lunchtime and comes and works with that kid to make

sure they don't fall behind she does this with every single child that ends up in the office under discipline um and not even if it's something that she was doing with their class but if she thinks that might interest them and intrig them she'll bring something that she just knows and share with them um and that's a true a true leader and and a true teacher and so we are so lucky that you're a part of our Continental team here um and so thank you for not only caring about all the kids but the kids that sometimes are a little bit harder to love than others and you go way above and beyond and I really appreciate it and see that I did all what Mrs qu and what Mr Nathan said but she makes

me really want to go back to take middle school science because kids are so excited and I hear the adults excited so thank you for being that night and bringing that excitement to our middle school students because we really needed you so thank you tell the story but with Mrs osar Lee I was doing a parent to her you know when you go around you're trying to up enrollment you're showing the parents this is amaz school and we walk into Mrs ustr's class and the timing was perfect she was just getting ready to do it experiment and I'm saying and I'm telling we have teacher she really gets the kids involved and I was like would you like to see it and they like yes so we go in there and she's like uh Mr

lean you may not want to be here for this experiment and she had a bucket of water and what a shot a shot put so a big old metal ball that they're dropping in the water to show the displacement um and so she did that and almost splashed my guests that were with me their day on the tour and they loveed it andru their kid the next day [Music] holds are you sure yes all right thank you well thank you everybody this takes us to some more bookkeeping type stuff you're welcome to take off before you go you might be interested that Naomi and I have the same last name and we found out I found out a couple months ago we're indirect I'm indirectly cousins with her husband it's a super long story but

it's very oh because it's not so you guys can go ahead and take [Applause] [Music] oh I can go get all right so with that we'll pick up so we've got our agenda item number 10 this is a motion [Music] item any discussion I do have a question um so the only comment I would have is on the uh the 301 funds that are being distributed for this this part of the Year first semester are $587 higher than they were last year so than you 301 money so don't spend it all place but hey 500 bucks 500 bucks so call please yesan yes Mr yes that goes to Mr gr so before you tonight you have the district finan report um I will let you do it there's nothing spectacular to report but I will

let you [Music] goe like yeah everything looks like we need to do a purchase order which is going to be covered like spending other people's money but so I really wanted to get through the board report so that we get to this I am asking the board to approve a purchase order to SD crane builders in the amount of 1,696 510 this is for the sfb project of grouping and weatherization so I will let you do your thing so we can talk about I'll move to approve the purchase order so greig if you would give us kind of just a helicopter view of what they're going to do and where um SD crane is from okay so SD crane build they're out Phoenix so we had our pre- bid meeting we had about 16 different

vendor show um we had three contractors who actually put bids in on time and were completely receptive to everything they met all the requirements that were within the bid we did have some that came in late and everything else but and because they were late they were this um so what they're going to be doing as far as the weatherization goes it's a last americ painting of all the buildings it is rearing or replacing weather stripping and windows and doors and that so that will you know it it's um repairing cracks in the um the masonary so that'll all be take place underneath the weatherization underneath the roofing some Roofing is getting repaired some get getting replaced and it's all getting do coating also within that we are relocating plumbing coming off the high roof

of the gym so it will no longer be going down through the gym wall and out it will be actually going above that row of glass rooms and then out so I don't know if you know but when we get really bad rains we get a mud and water pulls up on the outside of that gy wall so this should remove all of that there's also a grading and drainage portion so they will be going through and regrading in certain areas of the campus so the area coming from fifth grade that dirt area down towards the the library that'll all get a new grade there it is going to so it looks like there will be some concrete going in in that walk path between the upper playground and this building here so that we

have better water flow and not having it coming up and over into the building along the sides over here Library saving the library a lot yes so and I just want to point this out though this is not this is just us approving it it will not go before the sfb until February so once the sfb does their approvals twice a year so I I I don't want anybody getting their hopes up that we issue the PO and three we we got build and then once they get started what's their their timeline yeah it's hard to say because we are trying to get this submitted as one project because it originally started off as two separate projects where we have one general contractor taking over the entire so the sfb may come back and say

well we're going to approve your weatherization but we will not approve the roofing yet so to give you a timeline I really can't give you anything Inc conrete it's been almost two years working this done thank thank you so and the rep from FB is coming over for a tour of this school tomorrow to see where are we send all much money to and we're thinking well maybe he'll say you know yall to fix that that's that that's that's kind of part of it I we haven't met our sfb rep person we've only done everything over the phone via email um but this gives her a chance to come down because we spent a lot of their money in the last year and a half um but she can come down see what we've done

she can see down and see things that we don't see she could come down and say hey do you know something yeah this really needs to be fixed put in a put it in an application so it's it's a good thing to have her come on down and take a look she's that Phoenix she's actually so she's actually out of tucon she used to be prior to working with the sfb she was TD's sfb liaison so she did my job what I've been doing with the that be for T USD okay I have a quick question just as far as uh procedures go if you could give us a rundown of why we're issuing purchase order approved um it is to show the approval of the from the board that we are to go this

facility and that way it shows that we are encumbering the funds prior to an a work so this pains me to say this especially since Greg Steelers beat my Washington te but we didn't know anything about us a be crating God so he saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars and more all the other stuff we'll wait for later but thank you great you're very welcome and I glad so with that roll call Mrs Amar yes Mrs Alan yes Mr AUST yes all right since we kind of know how that works is apparently there's a situation with the sew pipe in Middle SCH so there have been occasional sewage smells coming up from the drinks and we every time that we think we have had them fixed you know it's been a temporary fix and

the smell ends up eventually coming back um we had new flow come out take a look from what they could see from the drain caps that they could get open the pipes under the cafeteria are similar to the ones that we had just repaired in the middle SE um there were actually some pipes that he couldn't tell if they were plastic pipes or cast iron because they were just so dumped up uh right now we're getting about 40% of the flow out of those pipes um we are going to be having the grease trap cleaned out here soon and then once we get that done and if you guys are gracious enough to approve this we'll have new flow come in after the grease straps are cleaned out and they will jet all the lines

to get them all nice C so they can actually see get a better exam get a better idea of what they are up against um what we're asking for approval on is um the overnight work since we are working in the cafeteria um don't want any have any open areas of the floor or anything while we may have people in there trying to cook or move food around from spot to spot so we are looking at the after hours work so the amount to get this started is $19,800 $3 now if if you already remember our project in the middle school that ended up close to $375,000 once we were all set done um no questions until you make a motion I moveed to approve purchase order for the SE second um I'm going to

venture a guess that this sewer sewer lines were put in about the same time the bathrooms Middle School were what I can see the the cafeteria original plans for was built right around 98 so a few years prior or a few years after the middle school was done um the Middle School the the cafeteria pipes they get a lot they get a lot of different usage than just the sewage pipes I'm thinking what else is is gonna come up soon well fortunately um a lot of the newer buildings are all plastic PVC piping and it shouldn't have any of the cast iron and if it does well I just call my friend up at the sfb and say hey I got project okay okay actually tell you a funny story real quick if I can
