know her know of her let's hear a little bit about what her colleagues have to say when Mrs wtha was new to our team she was eager to learn and help in any way and has continued to be helpful to all she takes initiative and always has a positive attitude she's always willing to help even with her own plate full and is always going above and beyond Mrs wtha is a great hardworking coworker always has a great and positive attitude and is extremely helpful to everyone she also wears many hats and is always so positive she will be the first to help when needed she's an awesome person to work with at Continental she started out as a volunteer here at Continental she's been the PTC president and has helped in classrooms Mrs wera is

W takes on the challenge with a smile and never back down from just W to add something you know it's your program has been around for a little while but it's been like this and getting consistency has been a challenge and since she has coming in um she's brought that where the program just grows and grows every single year and the excitement and enthusiasm which is what you want Sher Cod triy to bring that school spirit um just illuminates the school and we really appreciate what she's done there um but to me it goes a little bit further than that um she teaches the students how to do her her job or their job with a smile and have fun and the one thing that I absolutely love and adore about Michelle and she probably

doesn't know this is when she's in the STA Lounge which is like a ways away you can hear her laughing out loud all the way to my office everybody knows and my job isn't always easy because I deal with discipline and just hearing that laughter just like when I hear the laughter of the kids on the playground reminds me of what I'm doing and who I'm doing it for and it's the simple things like laughing with your friends your co-workers but they don't seem like your co-workers they seem like your friends um in the staff lounge and just that having this joy that you bring to the workplace is phenomenal I really appreciate that and that's a great example to me so thank you I just want to add that when I started here at

Continental Max was in a stroller and I was begging I couldn't wait for Max to start kindergarten because then I knew that Michelle would be available to come work with us thank you thank you and next up we have Mrs Martha BB Hall and your colleagues say Mrs Hof is an amazing person to work with she motivates those around her and is always there to lend a smile to those around she's a team player who contributes greatly to our school and Community Mrs Hoff can be counted on when help is needed she's a caring teacher and colleague with such a positive attitude and huge heart the loving care that Mrs Hoff has for her students is so heartwarming to see she's a p passionate teacher who will do anything to make sure that her students

feel welcome she truly thinks about her colleagues students and families and is so empathetic towards everyone's needs she does little things that leave a huge mark on the hearts of us her work family and her student family we're very grateful to have Mrs and now a little bit about this this year there's been a lot of changes in our schools that any of you have noticed we've really tried to increase the amount of play time that our students have and their interactions to socialize which has been moving to reduce anxiety and one of the big programs and the research that I was looking at is the let grow play club and what that is is dedicating basically every single day after school staying here until 4:45 which we don't have any clubs that really do

that um all school year not just you know Sports the coaches do it but they do it for a quarter and so I really needed two staff members to have this and that's a lot that's a lot to ask to stay for that extra two hours every single day um and when I trapped Miss H in a conference in a school van coming back from California I was listening to the book um the anxious generation on cassette because everybody fell asleep and so I was driving the van and she woke up and listened to it and just totally got clicked on it and took that enthusiasm and when she heard that I was starting it asked to be one of those sponsors and has just made an amazing fun place for the kids that's her

personality um and taking on a hard job and she knew it was going to be a hard task and starting something from scratch like that can be very difficult and intimidating and she did that without even flinching done an amazing job her in the partner so thank you taking that on job really appreciate count of one two three so with that you guys are free to go but feel free to stay for the rest of the meeting which probably another hour take we that on thank you thank you congratulations [Music] all all right guys you're ready for the consent agenda moving right along item number the consent we can talk about it after we to any discussion on the consent agenda I have some I would like to welcome our new uh Executive Administrative Assistant

Jenna Ross on our six here with continental and say goodbye to our beloved na I fin learn how to say your name and also hang on we have a little for you best of luck thank you and uh Christy Stowell she left she left oh she left she she did leave well anyways she was here welcoming her as taking um Jenna's place as the new account so with that uh any other discussion on the consent Mrs Le yes Mrs Amar yes Mr mg yes Mr yes and now it's time to report items District financial report we've all been waiting well over a month for this Gregory you get this every month so yeah you have waiting a month for it no remember we had to skip last week so a lot AIT long so here

is our district Finance report it is updated with all the curent balances that are roll over from the previous year um one couple things I do want to talk about within the district it's not really in the report but it affects the report um if you remember back in way back in June you guys had asked me to increase the ADM to 620 and we compromised at 595 our current ADM is okay um so we are currently 11.85 N5 ADM shy of our budget mon the importance of that is we get $513 per student which equates to $ 59,4 5167 in order to not have to do a budget Revision in December and have to cut our budget we have to be within 1% of that number which would be $ 56,18499 if we gain

two more students prior to the 100th day and prior more specifically prior to the December reporting we will not have to cut our budget so that is a is a plus um have we had any new students so we have we have new students um but again we have withdrawn students and then new students come in so attendance is is increased by four students from the last board report but again the enrollment so ADM if you remember that only the special needs preschool students provide ADM for the school and kindergarteners count as half and the special needs preschoolers were also half so so we would need basically two full-time students to not have to worry about having to cut the budget this summer so yes we are $3,300 short but we would still have to

cut out that entire $59,000 if we do not reach that magic number of of we anticipated that to some degree we we did plan a contingency for that so here's hoping everything goes our way good news yeah you have time and hopefully with the new boundary um the new families that were identified within our boundaries we might get a few students from that if not let our but they have to be actually enrolled let's say they say hey we're in a new boundary we're going to start second semester which is a logical thing to do right and so the 100 days January 24th okay but the revision is do in December so we need them before December so see gota love those accounting because we just have new students and will started today yesterday yesterday

we had a tour for three students today and more people work for one more student so and the numbers I presented you were the numbers as of last Friday so they could have changed from what was reported Monday one over there you go we could be one there we just know we just know what has come in we didn't know what was left we're not let we always so as this is an approval item you done I I am done if you I will move to second more disc Mr M yes this one is a discussion great going to update us on the the balances that used to be held in the County's Treasury office that we were all I know I personally was confused about it for years like why is it just sitting

there and we can't use it okay so there's recently a letter that's gone out discussing having cash on hand at the county treasurer's office and how we have no way of using it to a point that is correct we did have over a million dollar sitting um back in August of 23 and it's my fault for not reporting on this sooner so you know please hold your flogging until later um the County the County Schools office realized they had made a mistake um so they ended up transferring $1.3 million out of that fund and into the correct fund so they had deposited the money into the wrong fund we still have the money it's just not where it was when that board member had sent out his letter and was talking about it now the

cash on having cash on hand and having budget capacity are two different things okay we need to have the cash on hand so we don't have what's called a registered warrant which means we don't have the money to cover our bills okay it's like not making sure you don't get a bounce check fee in your personal accounts okay that's why you have that money sitting in there so what this override does is because the the letter was discussing how there's all this money we don't need it what the override does is it provides us budgeting capacity okay so our budget is based off of a formula and that formula does not include how much cash you have on hand at the county Treasures Office okay what the override does for us is it increases our

amount that we can budget for so the current 14% override gave us $559,000 so that's an additional $559,000 we're able to spend and it has nothing to do with the cash that we have at the County treasurers office now if go can you pull this up to the Excel sheet anyway okay so I don't know what happened with the spreadsheet so the county error the County Schools office error affected like nine 10 other school districts within within P County it went all the way back to fiscal year 200 19 so the 1819 school year they had been making the same error so to give you an example um T USD they had to transfer over $126 million you know Catalina Foothills was like 3.6 Serita was 1.9 you know there were just a whole bunch

of districts throughout PMA County that had to have this this transfer take place so wasn't just a a it was wasn't us that had had this it was just about every District within Pima County there were some smaller districts like Bubba that didn't have anything um the accommodation District didn't have anything but the Jad had had money that needed to be moved so it affected a lot more than just our district where did they transfer that money back to Capital and it went to Capital white because that's where we're supposed to have gone original so we were running so when we were when that board member was here and we had you know $1.3 million sitting in our ml fund we were still negative 600 Grand with 500 Grand within our um Capital dollars after

fixing a couple of different errors within uh from Pima County now our Capital fund has like $2.1 million sitting in it and we're at a negative 500 Grand within our M budget here we go all right so just click down there at Morana scroll down so there's what Morana had to transfer so $4.3 million for Mirana go to the next one I think it's Flowing Wells $2 million Flowing Wells next one ampi 11.5 so it was all transferred to their Capital yes it was all transferred out of their M funds into their Capital so that's good so it's really just all a bookkeeping thing it didn't negatively or positive no no just caused more work for you to be honest it didn't even cause that much work for us because they sent us a journal

entry saying hey we made a mistake we've been making this mistake since 2019 here's a journal entry to fix it so we just enter the journal entry on our side our books go back to matching their books I can certainly understand somebody question you you know barely makes any sense yeah so so but I think a big thing to remember here that a cash balance and your ability to budget are two totally different things because we're only allowed to to spend what we can budget so our our budget being 5.7 million for this school year having have if that million dollars was still sitting in cash I can't spend 6.7 I can only spend that if that helps PowerPoint be nice next time I gave you an Excel spreadsheet thank you just okay new business

the second reading of the new board policy advis and this is our we didn't have any no new business so these are the policies that um as I'm sure you have reviewed they changed the language from sexual harassment to sex discrimination and it's just including that language in the policies and providing HR departments um more a formal way of dealing with staff grievances or any type of sex discrimination complaints that might occur in the school okay so those are they've just been cleaned up by way and changed a little bit in the language there's not anything new in terms of what we have to do it's just the policy some of theab [Music] change and this is an action item [Music] I'll move to approve the second reading of the board policy I'll second it

any discussion Mrs Le yes Mrs Mr M Mr yes and but wait there's another policy [Music] we did a first reading a few months [Music] ago so should this be okay so so we did we did a first reading on this one a few months back uh just some some background on this the district did not have a policy in regards to um security and surveillance cameras as well as audio reporting devices um what Mr Ferguson and I had done is we've gone through other districts actually did have a policy and we took what was in their policies to create this one so these are already you know coming out of Asda approved policies it's just customized to what Continental would we we did this one mon or two there just a mistake is the

use of technology so they're both second reads separate Poli so there's no so the confusion is that usually all the policies in the first read are listed underneath each other so when we do second read They're All listed under each other so they're just broken up that's why we're doing three and just to clarify a little bit further the first one is a policy advisory that came from ASG this one here is something that we put together based off policies that as yeah looks so I'll make a motion to approve the security surveillance camera Poli discussion Mrs Le Mrs Mr M Mr and the second reading of the new advisory considering on technology so this one what they did is they added the um AI use so the policy ofd addes Technologies including the use

of gener generative artificial intelligence programs and or Platforms in the classroom so again it's left up to a District's discretion on as to how and when AI can be used action item again last one for the night all right I'll move to approve policy discuss this Mrs I was still looking at the screen sorry yes M Mr M Mr yes and we've got uh getting into the holiday season it's anything jump out we got the carnival coming up [Music] Friday know that was on back think no ideas so with that any uh cover board discussions anybody got anything they want to about Laura do you want to share on the county meeting that we ATT um just kind of a collaboration on how to save yourself sinking ship I mean just kind of what things

putting things in perspect perspective on um most importance on your task that you're trying to conquer um to least important so just kind of knowing where things need to be put in order um good food good night good company and it was a beautiful school so we were in Bale at aronda high school very nice very tght School but one thing with asba is that they are really trying to simplify their policies and narrow them down like the trust is um because I guess a lot of districts have left asba and are going with the trust in terms of the trust policy bridge and when we had looked into it we were still under contract with asba so it wasn't going to be cost effective for us to move to the trust year right two

years two years so now asba is going to um narrow down their policies and simplify them so they asked if um I would be able to help preview and do some of the the reworking of the policy so we'll wait to see when they send them to me what they look like so it'll be interesting it'll be interesting no one I'm doing them a favor they asked would you be willing help so I said okay sure cost Grand sure sure give us a discount that we'll take a quick break you know what this is about I I'll talk to you at the okay all [Music] does every District old forms so with those forms so the county is moving over to a new system and as of right now they don't even know if they

will still be those forms so we ordered just one packet of those forms just in case at least there's not like black carbon paper in here I'm surprised what was it AO machine maph that smelled so good the old copier remember that [Music] no okay come on Drew am you're making copies with two rocks and a chisel all right well thank you we are adjourned and pretty much now you
