school adopted this year the leader and me uh through the stepen cubby Foundation which has been great especially for our middle schoolers um so but that is implementing kindergarten great we have Target assemblies by the medical counsel which is fantastic any the staff is coming there she makes it really engaging where there's different games um through drug a awareness week they did some activities where they spin around on a bat and try to walk a straight line those types of things so it's kind of engaging those middle schoolers are bringing stuff up to their level which has been um really well received and the middle schoolers have been excited about those assemblies and helping participate and plan those assemblies as well which has been a big movement that we're trying to do this um we're

also providing oneon-one or small group sessions as needed provide Guardians with outside resources um especially in the realm of self harm and those types of things that's one of the things that we also do quite a bit of us helping parents um none of us really know how to deal with those situations but we do have resources to get you in the right place for that as well as work oneon-one with you okay and then lastly one of the things that I I brought to the district a couple years ago is restorative conferences um we really go to this instead of like in school suspensions out of school suspensions and what restorative conferences are is when a child does something they're not supposed to trying to fix that problem so help them realize what they've

done um help them to find out how to feel sorry for that track that problem and then don't do it again is really what we try to do and some of the things that we do is if there's a conversation between two students um we'll work through it and then at the end we bring them together and do a restorative conference where they can make aend for their ACS so lot of things like that even if it's with a teacher and a student like the Middle School bring the two of them together so that the next day they can come to school and go back into class um without being nervous or scared they've already approached it and they're to go um School Safety and Security update um as a lot of you know I

take School Safety and Security very important one of the big things that we've done over the last couple months is we have assembl threat assessment team um and a comprehensive School threat assessment guide which is CAG this we're really excited we worked in partnership with sheriff department on this one um almost all schools in P County have adopted the same model and it's to assess threat so if we get a report of a Potential Threat um as we've all seen in the news when there's these types of things they always look back at what things have done what schools have done what law enforcement has done um and they're finding that often times it's not enough and so this is a way to for law enforcement to work with schools and to make sure that

no no stone is left on turn and making sure um that the student that made the threat is safe to return to school and receiving the proper Health and Care that they need to a pict number [Music] of next slide thank you now the moment you all been waiting for except for the pizza start was all right all of our if you can come and stand right right up here by the board we're going to start with up all the midd so if you're achool stand right here [Music] short [Music] you [Music] for okay so Mason's having stage fright so he's gonna stand behind me and we're gonna talk about all the amazing things Mason does so Mason is always caring towards adults and students safe in the classroom and has become very responsible this

yes Mr that's the end of the report item unfinished business we went over the policy advisory in our study session so it's to approve the second reading that had about an hour I moved to to approve the second reading of the asba policy advisory second any discussion Mrs Leber yes Mr mg Mrs Alan yes Mr [Music] yes um when it says 748 to 746 I mean that it's through I know I'm just saying there's no other policies those the only ones updated or those only ones that we I guess yes and yes okay just I'm just making sure yeah okay new business this is the calendar year we've already approved next year right so we're getting ahead of ourselves because people like to plan and um it's pretty much the same as 2024 22 23

right yes and we are hoping to get um 2526 proposed to you by February March so we can be two years I move to approve the 2425 school calendar I'll second I have a question um do the major holiday major breaks line up with the sub yes and I think it's super cool that we still take our Thanksgiving week um I know when especially this year when my daughter went to high school what do you mean we don't get the whole week same with my wife no they don't I can't control that and then you know what she says Dad can you run for the Ser no absolutely Mrs Le yes Mr MCG Mrs Ellen yes Mr yes business B is our budget revision lightness so every December the districts across the straight are given

a notification by ad whether they need to revise our budgets one way or the other um this year we did have to revise our budget um our budget had to be reduced by two just over 297,000 um reasons behind that is we did budget for a 0.02% increase in ADM over the course of the year which equates out to about three4 of a student per um we didn't get that we've actually we're actually down students so that's part of the reasons as to why we are having to reduce our budget so with that being said I will throw it open to your vote um hopefully you will approve this does it have to be to the state by the 15th and I can answer any questions after your vote I move to approve the December

budget revision I have questions without going through it um was it um kind of a percentage of each line item or was it weighted area the decrease in our budget is a global decrease they don't say where it has to be decreased from um we are allowed to be within 10% of what 8 calculates our Bud budget should be so that 10% was five $58,000 so we were $240,000 over that 10% limit like throughout entire budget throughout the entire throughout the M budget the main generally when we talk about budgets that's the budget that we're talking about is our M budget that's the majority so the entire M budget with all throughout the budget okay anything else Mrs Le yes Mr mg yes Mrs enen yes Mr yes and item C suggest changes to the

governing board calls which so the only thing we had to change was uh we had voted and approved the maintaining the a letter grade and since we um are now have a b letter grade we had to go back to changing our goal to efforts in achieving and and the port are posted okay I'll move to approve the suggested changes to the governing board hes I'll second any discussion okay Mrs Le yes Mr MCG yes Mrs Alan yes Mr now our invisible item e is item I on the consent agenda authorization to send items to public auction which is uh for two buses um to go to Mr MCG asked for a little clarification I move to approve number D 14 14 D good J agenda second all right with that um got a few

questions I'll try and make a call first for for you we bought five buses last year correct correct were year one into that we made we've made two payments on it second year starting second we're in the second year in the second year yes is it safe to say that we will not have enough money to buy any of us for how many years I mean theoretically so when you're talking about purchasing a bus you there's a couple of different ways we can go about doing it we can do it like we're now we're releasing a group of them or we can purchase one at a time I'm just assuming one assuming of one we would not be able to purchase a new bus until we are completely done with payments for these bu okay

so that's so more or less 3 plus years down the road yes maybe that fourth year and by that time the payment that we're making on our buses our bus payment every year is $154,000 so we're basically buying a bus year right at at two and a half year ago prices so there's part of my issue is that I'll bet everyone in here a glass of water and a you know breath that that $150,000 is going to be two and a quarter maybe 250 I don't know I'm just assuming I'm probably not going to be too far off right so that's to me that's very concerning and that kind of ties into extra buses and I've always been the guy that said get rid of the junk sitting out there rotting in the Sun and

I'm I stand by that most of the time so not many question is for you is what do we have if everything is functioning absolutely perfectly how many extra buses how many buses do we have on a daily basis that we need every day and how many would be sort of the extra that are we can start tomorrow drive down the road okay so currently we have six and a half routes that run continental and then we have three and a half routes that run Riz okay the half route is one bus but it's half Continental half W if that makes sense y so out of those there's a bus for each of those so you're looking at nine buses plus I've got five spare sitting in the back the two that I've discussed I

can get into that later but take those two out of the equation because they haven't been in the equation for going on one on one bus on three years one bus on it second year that haven't been touched rolled moved nothing I have five buses sitting back there that can back up the nine that I have one of them okay so taking the two out of the equation that are here the nine 2009 2010 buses the other three are in what state of of condition there there's five there's still five five on top of these two included in the five okay there is three High highly functional air conditioned buses and then two buses that are in great shape once I got the repairs done this year are in great shape and everybody enjo tryy

so I am confident that if approved for those two to go and I can discuss I will discuss those two um I am confident moving forward in my first three years I had two spares every day at the most until I went and did the lease on on the five that promoted me to be able to have the flexibility to say the three buses we got rid of because the mechanical issues are gone these two here my yearly maintenance budget is $58,000 right the fix one bus it will cost me about 41 after everything's done y so I understand the fear of and I have the same fear but I would not ask for these to go up the auction if I was not confident where we sit with the fleet that I have today

so actually I was looking at at the the the comments you made about the condition of the buses I actually I kind of I agree with you on the 10 because you started talking electrical and that's a bottomless pit as far as I'm concerned the nine is what I'm thinking I'm I'm thinking maybe that has some extra life left in it because that's a break issue a break issue in my mind is something that can be tackled and I'm just really concerned about some of these newer buses we have a lot of newer buses that's fine and dandy but they also have newer emissions and newer emissions are very fidgety and if they're under warranty everything's fine and dandy but if they're out of warranty then that $58,000 is going to be gone before you

can blink yeah because they're really expensive incredibly expensive yeah um and that's that way with Indie diesel engine whether it's a school or a farm or whatever it's all the same so that's my concern I don't want to get I I can I can see your argument on the 10 on the nine I'm thinking well maybe we can hold off for a year or two just to make sure we don't you know I maybe I'm being overly cautious no that's fine I agree it but that bus so we that bus was in the original auction with three that we just sold can you sure thank you so the the 10 is $35,000 plus and repair yeah so the 2010 was purchased as a used bus to get Fleet so I could have an apparatus right

we paid I think $144,000 for it yeah the cost just to do the engine just to get it tow to Phoenix was almost 18 1,700 plus taxs they get a tow and they they will only fix it in Phoenix then the work on it they're guesstimating is 35,000 to do the engine and there's another 20,000 on top of that to fix the air conditioning inside it because the whole cab and the body has to be pulled off the bus in order to fix it the lines are back so that I can completely understand because I'm thinking okay 40 40 plus thousand bucks where space scenario we'd have to spend I mean I don't I don't know what I looked online and saw some relatively reasonably priced buses used buses and they're in that a decent

one's 20 to 30 grand so I can I'll give you that one but the nine I'm thinking just for a break job it's almost worth it to me because I saw what we got as salvage value you know five to 8,000 bucks and in my mind that's awful I mean it's you know you're spending $200,000 and you're getting five at the end I mean granted you've got a good long life out of it that's good but I just want to make sure oh I'm I support it and like I said I wouldn't put it up and ask you guys because for the next four years we can't do mly squat unless something comes along you know I'd love to be wrong let's put that way we're under warranty for the five years of the new

right yes for five years for the whole the whole time of the ter so each bus has coverage is covered for the whole time so regardless if we started four years ago the time of the loan okay each bus isover covered under warranties there's things that we have to take care of oil changes are covered tires any small things but any big things are taken care of like I've got recalls on all five of those buses they're all we're all trying to figure out to be scheduled yeah for things that the organization's taking care of n is taking care of so I don't have to worry about that kind of stuff right now okay I'm just the biggest issue I have is this the one for 01 plus1 it is a 2009 the big thing

that bothers me is the mileage have mileage on it 175 for a I mean we're hitting we're getting to the point yeah 2009 but that bus was was driven very hard and used a lot where it's counterpart bus 02 doesn't even have 78,000 so there's other things the issues that I had to fix in O2 um on bus O2 are going to be cting I probably spend about $177,000 to fix that plus the braks that need to be done on it so hypothetically we go up kids in the next three or four years we probably won't let's just say um how many buses do you think You' need in addition that one to put I put one more bus in service now for okay that's where I'm that's where I'm at that's why I get

I'm saying I'm confident I can go hold it off for one more year but I'm already halfway into my budget I don't have the money to fix it this year it would have to go into next year's budget so again it's been sitting it's been sitting for it's on its third year sitting not moving having any students on it no I get it that's not with so there's going to be things I'm have to put have to put tires on it batteries need to be replaced I start adding I start nickeling diving myself I'm willing to do whatever you as my leaders want me to do I'm okay with whatever decision is made no I just don't I just think I mean if I trust your judgment I just don't I I don't want to

have be having this discussion two years down Road darn we need a bu because I don't it's not that I don't trust the newer buses they're fantastic buses but I just I know there's more downtime involved in this newer technology I'm I'm okay with that and we can look into it as we move forward if we need to make a decision to repair but I would not I will not make those repairs until next budget and and the second point I want is that if these go to auction we need someone at the school oh to pick them up I happened to be on vacation when they came otherwise Greg would have contacted we've already discussed so yeah everyone knows what happened there we just we need to make sure we've got our cover on

that of course and the other thing is when I sold the other three when my intentions were to use that money that I thought we got it back into the transportation budget we don't get the money from the buses back in the so my initial decision was to fix those buses with what I thought I was getting from the sell of the buses but those goes back in the general budget it doesn't come for transportation I understand it so assuming these two buses are gone your intention is to keep the existing backup buses on a turn keep ready they get they get pre-trip twice a week and driven once a week to make sure everything stays functional I mean I'm okay taking bus 10 one out of out and holding on to one if you

like I'm totally okay with that um I get it with 10 electrical problems as far as I'm concerned I'll help you push it out okay but [Music] um I don't what what is a what is a a break issue what is a break overall cost so what put in the quote was no I think it was 17 to fix the what needs to be done because the whole axle the rear axle has to come off it's not the brakes that are on the tires it's the emergency braking system on the bus so if the brakes fail9 the 09 so yeah it's got to come off and it's got to go they can't do it here again it's got to get move too okay so I'm e like I will I'm whatever you guys want want

to do well I don't want it to be a payer I want it to be useful if we can't afford 17,000 bucks it's going to be a bitco so that's the reality so I guess that's I mean I can hold I'm more than happy to hold on and wait and revisit after the start of next school year and have have a discussion on that as well I'm okay with that and if money comes to get to the end of the year and everything is running right now I'm a little better than I was at the started com in this point last year as far as budget I feel if we don't have to do anything more major we can maybe see what the budget looks like and I can discuss it with great is there

harm and doing 10 now in the summer or something not at all because what we'll be looking at next year is bus 08 the backup sped is having has the exact same issue as 01 that was used bus purchase from one of the reservation schools that we needed to have a backup but when we bought the new buses we bought a new sped bus so we kind of relieved it but both sped buses run every day 17,000 bucks a lot of money though oh yeah so that's that's where I'm that's that's where I'm okay um you know what I appreciate the clarification I'll and then the other one I want to clarify I think our goal correct me if I'm wrong Greg is term the budget it was every other year that we would look

to purchase a bus so that we could take it every other year and I think moving forward after the end of the lease right now it would be the second year so say we three years from now is 27 so 29 would be the next purchase of a bus in my mind going forward 29 28 29 yeah 28 29 in the condition of the other buses other take out the brand new five and not including the backup buses those the condition of the buses in the middle satisfactory that's why I kept that's why I kept those I maintain those so okay I appreciate and then they get the question you're right about the cost we got the 47 to 153 as far as the different ranges taxes bu all that stuff but we're looking the

bus that we have sitting out like bus 19 that's sitting right here you're probably looking CL for 2 where we paid as of today would be closer 210 250 what we paid 150 and then everything's changing um with the diesel emissions and everything that's coming out Canyon State is looking to not sell diesel buses anymore going to only unlet or electric propane is what is what's being pushed from a lot of the vend right now I'm sure it's being pushed but electric would be $100,000 charging station well I mean we get I get emails consistently saying get a free bus get a free bus with the grant or whatever no we're talking $400,000 for an electric bus plus the other 150 bring the charging station not just for one Charing ex so nothing's getting cheaper

yeah tell about okay chicken so it sounds like maybe we want to modify this deny this one and then do a new line item that says we just want to sell one bus and then we can revisit the second bus later can we do a friendly amendment to this already had a motion deny this and we'll do another item or whatever yeah all right so with that um if we want to U move forward with just selling one bus and not two then we willto this one and then we'll come up with a new so yes to cancel Mr M no Mrs Ellen no Mr and I'm so we're going to bring up this same line item but just as so um one bus we don't need to name the bus resolution I move to

send to auction the 2009 bus no 10 2010 bus as that's all I got to [Music] say second okay discussion okay Mrs yes Mr MCG yes Mrs alen yes Mr yes last but not least board events most of it's already done there's some winter concerts layer this week and our Christmas break yeah we'll start the school year with um our honorable assembly so par your calendars if you can attend on January 26 will be our honorable assemblies and we will be looking at sending a date also in February for our test kick off to recognize all the students who have U who made progress and them up before any testing time starts is there any no new WIS until the first of the year yeah Kelly doesn't have either thank you with that we will

sign some paperwork and [Music] on these first couple of modifications Mr make sure you sign that back page we need on the front your on the back I'll get them all at once just so you know there's only three line is that for the replac [Music] should [Music] it that's it and with that we are right thank you everyone have a Merry Christmas
