002there in front of you our theme for the year is world of imagination and Mrs Cuevas was thinking of the Willy Wonka chocolate the golden tickets and the four golden ticket we've discussed are our plc's our a rating our A-Plus school and our work on our character building so we're super excited we're gonna focus our year-round world of imagination and the Bolton tickets that are going to get us to our A-Plus status that we are speaking enrollment update our current we currently have 572 kids with 31 pending whether it's pending paperwork or pending open enrollment preschool we have 26 students so a total of 598 with the pending students the total will be 632 and we ended basketball University student s were we would be two students shy of where we ended our kids are
003enrollment we have 58 students so that gives us class sizes of 15 students with four teachers with our three teachers who would be at 19 to 20 per class so again I want to thank our governing board and Mrs Cuevas persistence and we were kind of holding the line to see what our Kinder enrollments were going to look like because we knew we were going to need four first grade teachers but we went ahead and we didn't want to lose the good candidates that we had so we were able to secure that position so we'll be sitting nice in Kinder classes with 15 to 16 students and if anybody's ever taught kindergarten you know that's a that's a full load there without full-time assistance our first grade we have 60 64 teachers so when we
004talk about Continental having pride in trying to keep our numbers low I think it's critical and our primary classes especially to get the kids new students to Continental there's 27 brand new students coming this year who have either moved into our area or were open enrollment in Sahuarita and versus coming back to us in open enrollment we have 46 returning students seven on the wait list and one pending of the Open Enrollment kids we have 11 new students and three pending solo total of 50 Square the possibility and with the Open Enrollment students I did want to make the board aware that these returning students we have probably eight to ten students who I had courageous conversations with their parents in terms of attendance and tardies and behaviors of letting them know again that it's
005a privilege to be here and that we have a responsibility normal students who live in our laundries and we will be starting some of those students on attendance and charting contracts wait list they're the ones on the waitlist or no some of the ones that are ones that are named for the new students moving in prior to approving them um some of the ones that are returning are for that Basin as well so we're waiting for numbers okay we um also want to congratulate our team because we are completely staffed in our certified Realm so it's the first time I think in a while that we're sitting here at this meeting not having to specially waterproof certified staff on the first date or once school gets started um we have classified support staff still to
006hire we have field three parapro Physicians and four bus driver positions but we still have the following vacancies we need two preschool instructional aids for the after-school careful care programs one playground Monitor and four plus Strikers three to have resigned over the summer and I do have some slides specific to Transportation coming up we will continue to advertise interview and try to fill the current positions prior to the first day of school and as we mentioned we if need be will have a special board meeting Wednesday August 2nd before the breakfast to improve these visit special education again we currently have 84 preschool to eighth grade students enrolled to receive special education services three teachers including a new K2 and middle school teacher that we're very excited also for our new sped staff that's going
007to be joining us 13 programmatic assistants afterward approval and to support our kids students and we will work towards continuing to build a strong Special Education team to focus on strategies for Behavior Support inclusive practices and understanding disabilities so thank you Miss lettuce for all your work and Justina in HR and getting these positions filled and people Transportation update upward update Mr Nate has worked hard on the new platform that's in place and it's made positive and effective changes within the department buses started hearing maintenance services the week of July 17th and 28th and we'll be ready for day one Staffing we're going to start the school year four drive her short we lost three drivers over the summer to higher compensation at neighboring districts whether it is or Sunnyside but we really know that
008that's you know we can't afford to pay what you thought and so I decided in the larger districts are paying um without having it affect other people who need phrases as well so we're kind of in a little laundry there having to be creative we do have a plan and in place to be able to still bus all of our students and we will still be able to bless the high school students because we are also applying introducing the revenue so everything will be covered with creative relics and teamwork so this little thing for that and we have a special congratulations to Mr name he completed his bachelor's degree in business management through Grand Canyon University graduating [Applause] two percent College until graduates who will come on commencement in October October 19th his final business
009project was on the national school bus driver shortage so short from winning the lottery and being able to put money in to hire drivers Steve who are waiting to hear what other creative ideas you have and you will be starting his master's program in January 2024 so Stephen I just want to personally congratulate you for your hard work and your make nights and I know even when you were on the DC trip and helping us shop our own students you have homework and deadline you persevered and we're very proud of you thank you full facilities board projects you'll see there they're well on their way and you can see the estimations for completion of the weatherization project you can see our totals there so we're very excited that we are going to get this work
010completed and off the ground and we're in the process of getting bids these projects completed sooner than later AZ cyber security initiative so thanks to Mr Ferguson we've moved into the implementation phase of our veils multi-factor authentic authentication program and you'll see everybody with these cool little uh what are they called dongles dongles that gives you a number that you have to log into it reminded me of like your can you check your blood sugar something but we have these little dongles so um now we'll have a second layer of security when logging in so he's going to be working with the teachers one-on-one getting them um when using passwords so in addition we begin to implement the anti-fishing testing and training First Step as well and it's a threesome is offered by the trust
011so we're constantly working on improving our ability to recognize and avoid the efficient intense Grant approvals super excited Ada approved our character Ed matching Grant at 22 466 dollars for one year and we can resubmit for additional funds for year two the current foundation for leader in Maine has awarded Continental a total of 32 500. um per year for three years so the total three-year implementation is 61 000 from the current Foundation and then it'll be 29 000 for Continental but we have the grant the character Grant so technically we'll only be paying six thousand dollars out of our tax credit funds which when we apply for year two for ADP we won't even need to jump into those funds so again as a reminder please check out the Leader in Me program the link
012is on the district website so um and we sent it out to parents and we will make sure that everybody on the board gets cleaned again we will have training on the Friday the first Friday that all the team the Monday when all the teachers come back and we'll be asked in board members if you'd like to come and maybe spend an hour or two with the initial kickoff of the leader in new program so you uh what's the date for that the August 31st I mean sorry July 31st and August 1st the first day in the house is going to be more um like teacher based and then on August 1st in the afternoons when they're going to go into the program itself with the dashboard of it and how we'll be utilizing in
013school-wide and so when we asked the consultant what day would be best she thought the adult learner and your mindset and preparing for how we teach students to change their mindset so I'll have that on the same calendar we have not talked about that yet so we've been helping people do something a little bit different since we had to get this worked only two days that I should income okay um also the last phase of our outdoor musical playground will be funded by another gracious donor the Burton Family Foundation so thank you Mr osterdy and our Continental foundation for finding the lead and these generous donors we're super excited and when I was talking to Joe Mr Ferguson today we talked about that he thought we could get it done in five years and we

0212nd in the morning we particularly do it like right at 7 30 and then just um for a 15-minute meeting and then head over to breakfast and we would really like for board members to come so we can update your photos because it'll be picture day as well individuals as well [Music] and then you'll notice that August 21st to the 23rd there is a Ida conference in Phoenix that I will be attending along with our spent director our preschool director and our psychologist so we're looking forward to doing some team building at that time as well and now we move to 12 for the event has been start with Laura [Music] talk about um all our Indoor Sports last year we had nobody there to post they I think they missed out on a lot
022of money because every team and everybody that came wanted water and something to snack off exactly so I'm just I think that's something that that some organization I don't care if it's cheerleaders or if basketball parents want to host an 18V team type thing but I think there should be something there's just some fun there that's missing I mean I know I went to Subway spent 20 bucks each time I was up there because so you know a pickle or whatever it is but I think it should be easy no your bag of chips are they allowed to take like a bag of church I mean that's pretty good I eat a lot of knock jokes see and that's what everybody's like well after school they had videos football team come and hosted for the
023basketball team vice versa whatever I mean I think they're missing now on actually thank you as well I just had a couple questions from how much more ballpark are the the guys that left the gals are driving the bus are they making up the road three to six dollars it's not just 20 seconds I'm kind of three to four dollars and eight above them up until last two weeks but remember they had their majority and we were helping them transport because they were using drive yourself windshield always calling you Doctor yeah I'm still though I'm almost there but I don't know I hope next summer it'll be a part thank you I also want to I think yes that's for me I just saw it so it's the valley friends and neighbors and you can
