I know you have been all year long so thank you so very much for coming in and being on time and being ready for us to start this great show that we are so lucky and fortunate to have every year I have a very very special announcement before we start I would like our third graders to be stand up third graders third and if I can have their the third grade teachers where are you make sure you are standing as well on purpose this house okay so yesterday we received our third grade ACM to our state assessment scores and you know with third grade if you don't have the assessment in reading and math if you know past the routine it's a mandatory retention and I want to tell you that everything I want of
our friend fingers past this day [Applause] [Music] all right because I want you to know that's the state average was 41 of the students in the state of Arizona eat anything standard and Continental students are right with the state at 41 of our kids needed families [Applause] right boys and girls we have some students that still are not need standards but we have a lot of kids that are right at the bubble of making it into proficiency those are the students that we've invited for summer school because we believe that with that extra Booth they can be ready so Mrs Cuevas has spent hours and hours along with the teachers identifying our students that are right at the cuff of proficiency so we can Target those students during summer school and after school tutorial when
school starts in math so you know the state average of students need an exceeding standards in math in Arizona is 43 percent our Continental Cults we're at 59 percent [Applause] foreign [Music] Corps but we're just gonna get better as teachers happy on implementing me from number one we don't have the rest of the great double results yet we're expecting them next week so parents be on the book houses will be sending information out oh so again friend prayers [Applause] thank you all to our parents to our family family aids to support our 34th graders we've been really proud of their weekends for excited to see and we like to thank our Continental foundation for providing the funds for these wonderful opportunities to take place that are at our school and this is education I believe
has been going on for 15 to 15 years with Miss Sherry and we thank you for being here in business over your rehearsity so [Applause] [Music] this series [Music] and I'm with the dance company fun house Movement Theater we've been doing dance residencies here in Continental for I think like 15 plus years now which is so exciting um what you are going to see today is the result of about eight or nine class sessions with each of the classes today and over the course of that time they have seen a professional performance put on by my company Cornell Community Theater they have learned about the elements of time space and energy they have really really learned about how they work together how they problem solve together how to compromise with one another how they are
very gracious kind and supportive even when they may not agree with their peers and they've learned a lot about their own creative voices the choreography that you would like to see today is not my choreography it's the choreography that they have come up with and we have worked together to shape them to the dances that you are going to see I'm going to tell you more about those dances throughout as we go along but before that I have some thank yous to give because this is white fatiguing effort so I made of this you know kind of like at the Oscars so that I don't forget anyone important hopefully I just so um the first shout out has to go to the third and fourth grade teachers [Applause] [Music] of me of this process so
thank you all very very much an extra shout out to Mrs Flowers who does the coordination for this event now [Applause] to Mrs Cueva to Mr Curtis Mr Jesus Mr Marcy Mr Ferguson Ms bayani regular close enough oh God I'm going to work on that for next year especially because she told me she has crossed the future tomorrow um [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] over the gym at different times and she has been really flexible in trying to maintain his individual curriculum but still give us opportunities to cast this information which I really really appreciate it [Applause] I also want to thank some of the funders for the dance residency I want to thank the Continental Foundation Country Fair white elephant and the Tahoma Enterprises for helping fund their residency so thank you to them
[Applause] all right now on to the fun stuff so songs of the decade that's the theme for this year and the decades that are represented this year are the 60s 70s 80s 90s and 2000. so a little blast from the past weird way you know um and we hope that you all enjoy it we're going to start off with um with this house class doing Hey soul sister from the thousands and they chose to dance with frogs right or objects that condensate so you'll get to see them dancing with crops um you'll get to see groups who we had in that class multiple uh small groups that works together to create choreography and that's what they wanted to put together for their dance so Mrs House's class for Hey Soul Sister [Applause] [Music] I know
I wouldn't forget [Music] Soul Sister tonight [Music] foreign [Music] oh sister [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] this morning [Music] this is flowering Supply who chose um I just I can't ever say it without giggling I'm Never Gonna Let You Down by Rick Astley [Applause] so let me tell you a little bit about [Music] I sure wasn't the scene that came out so even though each class each class should choose their own song Right each class chooses their own song which is a super cool um and they choose as I told you their own choreography but what was interesting is throughout several of the classes we had two things that came up a lot one was partnering so you're going to see several dances tonight or this afternoon morning you can tell I'm a teacher right
because I'm like wait what's the other day is it um so they chose partnering and then they also chose piggyback so during this performance you'll see a lot of those you're going to see some phenomenal partnering in this flower's class Rick asks please never going to give you up so you're also going to see wait I have to tell you two other things that you're gonna see if it brings back any memory [Music] sprinkler bow so they decided to group those in nice flowers I think um [Applause] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] welcome foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] each other [Music] [Applause] [Music] don't tell me [Music] and hey [Music] goodbye [Music] [Applause] [Music] remember [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] come on [Music] yeah there's just a lot of students in this show um so
we're next uh class in this way to class and they chose the 1960s they chose a fantastic song called gigoloa it's fun artist named Olatunji from the country of Nigeria and you're here that driving driving beat and then you'll hear a switch because they wanted both the original and the remix the remix by Fatboy Slim so jingle go Bob here we go Mr Wayne's club [Applause] [Music] thank you foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Bubba Bubba Bubba Bubba go back [Applause] [Music] laughs foreign [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay this is absolutely amazing you guys are just doing an amazing job I wish I could today in words um how hard these kids have worked to pull this off in like eight classes how they had this group had to work together
to do those lifts and that and the pyramid anyone doesn't take part and a kid goes down right and they were so good and so careful and it was super challenging there was a lot of problem solving that they had to work out with one another to make that happen same with every single group that you're seeing so so proud um the next song that you're gonna see takes us to the decade of the 70s the biggest Jones class Today's show was called spunky Channel and I want to tell you hold them just a moment here [Music] I just have a couple things I want to tell you about this thing because if you blink you might miss you they also chose to work um with a partner as I mentioned that was a theme
that came up a lot that they wanted to do and my job is to say yes yes yes to their creative voices so I said yes to them doing so partner moves and they have seen in the performance that my company does for them a move called a tornado's spin it is a fairy very challenging Move To Learn and to feel not terrified doing and they were Relentless in their work on doing the tornado Center and I'll tell you I'm the one that does the tornado who's been in the company they do it far better than I do I'm like watching like wow that is absolutely amazing so you're gonna look for something called the tornado spin I'm not going to tell you exactly what the move is but if you'll figure it out and
once you see it let's see what else do we have anything else to tell you besides the trip oh yeah it's companies so it's Disco Lady right so watch out for those disco moves yeah I see some of you are like oh yeah that must mean there's this going on you got there's that going on and much more so Miss Jones class Monkey Town [Applause] ship [Applause] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] foreign [Applause] [Music] [Applause] cakes that I made for the day what I want you to show what I want you guys to show that they worked on so hard just in front of the tornado spin you thought I want you to see it again we had set up for the Trussville okay so if you're about two people
please do it twice they work so hard on this I want you to see it and uh give it up for them [Applause] [Music] are not too loud they also chose uh the 80s and they took they listen to several musical collections from the 80s and they were immediately captured by waking me up before you took off by around and so they also chose to work with the partner and you will see some fantastic movements that they connected to the lyrics and some great partner work isn't it come on down to your thoughts for waking up before you go [Applause] [Music] before we get started [Music] I'm very lucky that for this dance I get a little assistance from DJ Aubry acoustic seated right here [Applause] one two one another bird [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
[Music] [Applause] believe me [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] my way [Music] [Applause] it makes me [Music] all right wake me up before I get broken believe me [Music] tonight [Music] [Applause] foreign [Applause] [Music] and for any of you who've been to the dance residency it will probably sound very familiar it's called Sonia so set your feet in parallel position backs tall they're going to show you sodium they were so excited to do this [Music] step back Sally Sally Sally step [Music] I went to the plaza what did I see a big fat man from Calgary 25 I can catch that man I bet you five dollars I can catch that man [Music] to the side the doctor said ah I got the pain in my stomach you [Music] here we go sodium [Music] to the
to the Sea Side to the front [Music] [Applause] all right [Applause] okay [Music] we have one more class tomorrow [Music] I'll talk to you about them we have Miss Hoff's class and we're gonna do a dance with all of us before they do um the dance that they choreographed for songs of the Decades so miss host class if you would just walk out to your spot set up facing the audience and we'll talk about our first steps [Music] we would also like to invite the third fourth grade teacher [Music] [Applause] attention has some instructions to it what I'm gonna need you too and to stand up because we're going to teach his dance to you it's a family works for me what [Music] [Applause] do you like um One Direction and then the other your
shoulders go up and down up and down I'm gonna put the microphone down and just use my two tables foreign [Music] [Applause] bubble don't pop this one you just blow it away we'll do that two times and then we're gonna do four different body part movement but one way check which ones they want to do come back this morning for just a minute I'm gonna check on these to our body parts [Music] thank you [Applause] [Music] Miss Flowers but [Music] but I heard she's retiring liquid because she retired okay [Music] do you know somebody [Music] bye okay we're gonna have been working out here then we're gonna have knee and arms go to the Head hand knees arm and we're going to do this sequence one last time and that last bubble goes to 45
so you really have to reach for it maybe it is let's do this oh okay [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you foreign [Applause] let myself [Music] [Applause] foreign [Applause] [Music] here you go I was prepared [Music] it's final key for your performance class shows the 1990s I'm not going to tell you what song is this time it also has a shot it also has the Mark Simpson and also has perhaps the kid and play Charleston this class also wanted to use a Canon right so we move in unison where we all move together and then we're one person goes and then another and another that's part of a cannon have you seen many of the classes use it already it's a main focus of what happened in this class so here we go this is host
class the 90s the mystery song here it comes [Music] [Applause] [Music] forehead [Music] wealthiest [Music] your last hit the show Once Again [Music] [Applause] [Music] get the show up [Music] foreign [Music] myself and we could change [Music] [Applause] thanks [Applause] again dancing to the pen and I can't boom thank you all so much we're crying I'm pulling up to you for being a great one [Applause] okay foreign [Applause]
