So move second. >> Moved by Sean, seconded by Jerick to approve the consent agenda. All in favor say I. >> Motion carries. Take a motion to approve the agenda. >> A motion that and Dave. Uh all in favor say I. >> I. >> Motion carried. Guess I did that backwards. Um Scott recognition. >> Yeah. Um thank you for allowing me to do this meeting like this. Uh the board is to recognize you as the graduates 13 year journey. Uh the our god to do so that's wonderful here. So that's all all good. That's what I got. Mr. Gibson, >> thank you Scott. Uh financials. Okay. I'll turn to uh page three of the warrants. Um down towards the bottom we have High Plains Coop uh cateical aid come from the state $73,564. Um and then
we paid Phoenix Restoration 39,10835 for the cleanup at the middle school from the flood. Um of course then our electrical bill. Um the membership fee to KSB $10,996 that you guys approved. a month ago or um so the total warrants this month are $290, $18529. And then page four, our cash balances are still in good shape for what we expect them to be at this time of year. And then same with our on page five, our expense summary. Um we're getting close to the end of the year, so it's looking about where we expect to be as well. and then of course our transfers and then after that's our high school and middle school reports. So if you have any questions for me there's no questions. I would take a motion to accept the financials
as presented. >> Dave and Jerick. Uh all those in favor say I. I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Uh, do we want to skip across and let these kids do their presentation next? >> Why don't why don't we do that? Let the have the WY student presentation. >> Hi. Here I want one of the highlights here. This is born out of a project experience some years back created this um where they bring in the second grade does all the white work on this bringing all presentations and people come around so >> okay so as Dr. So this is our fifth annual big truck day and each year the second graders um they research different careers and invite um new people from our community to come in each year to teach the other WY elementary students about
these heroes and their careers and what they do for us in our community. So we have Mason Solace, we have Bennett Cunningham, Cade Crawford, Jackson Patterson, Ryas Arery, Emerson Goth, Shay Dordeiler, and Lauraai Freezen here to talk to you about our big truck day. Ryan, there's two of them. Good evening members of the board. My name is Bennett Cunningham and we are second grade students at WY. We are excited to tell you about our fifth annual Big Truck Day. Big Truck Day. Big Truck Day is a day where we get to celebrate our community heroes, the people who help keep us safe, healthy, and our town running smoothly. We get to see big vehicles up close, like firet trucks, tractors, bucket trucks, trailers, and more. This year big truck day was on Friday, May 8th
from 11 a.m. to it took place on bus drive at WY Elementary. We were so excited to see all the cool trucks and meet the people who drive them. To get ready, our teachers assigned us to a community hero to learn more about. We did research, wrote papers, and made presentation boards to show what we learned. We got to interview our community heroes and ask them many different questions to help us with our project. We asked questions to learn more about their jobs, how they help others, and even how they started and that career. We made phone calls to remind our big trucks of the day and time. This was our fifth annual big truck day at WY and we're we were so excited to be a part of it. It has been a It
has been a fun tradition where we get to learn about important people and vehicles that help our community. We love getting to show everyone our projects and share what we learned during Big Truck Day. Thank you for letting us share about Big Truck Day. We hope you're able to attend next year at Lights Big Truck Day and meet your amazing community heroes. >> Do you have any questions for us about Big Truck Day? >> What was your favorite big truck? >> Anybody? the bucket truck because I like um how it goes through because I like how it goes really fast because it puts out fires even faster. How many trucks were there? >> Undetermined amount. That's a good question. >> How many wheels are on big trucks? >> Four. There's a nickname. >> There's a
nickname for >> Seems like he might have been there. Ryan. >> Hey, come on, Ryan. >> Well, it looks like we got a whole bunch of good second grade readers. >> Good job reading, guys. We appreciate y'all. I also want to um say thank you to my second grade teachers because each year this is a lot of hard work and they put a lot of um work into helping contact these community members trying to connect it with um families that are in that grade level to bring some of the parents and family members to each big truck day. So kudos to the second grade teachers as well. I'm assuming you got cookies for kids. >> Yes, it's taken care of. >> All right, good deal. Thank you so much for being here. >> See you
all. Good job. You'd rather All righty. Next up, we have buildings and grounds. >> Did Did Scott remember to tell you the timer is off is off on the west school zone light. >> Transportation Food service >> further >> technology >> principles. We can start with Amy. >> Oh, sorry. >> I understand that. But if I may go ahead Yep. Go ahead. >> All right. Two. Uh, the end of the year is takes place this Friday at 12:30 at the high cafeteria. You guys are all welcome to be there. We'd love to see you. We also well all set up. I unfortunately have a appointment on Friday, but Lucas has very graciously agreed to for your comments. We got three retire to share none of in it also nice for you to be there everybody
else 12:30 Friday on Friday. Last thing is continue. Unfortunately, we're getting some odd bubbles in the third in one of the lanes on the home side. Um and I talked earlier, it's water. It's got to be water coming up. Water will find a way. Uh I'll be making a a call tomorrow and have a robust conversation. 100% covered under warranty even beyond the 5year extra thing they're giving us. Um not rest until this is done. If that means if they need to t up again but we're going to pursue it right. It's still beautiful and perfect in the end. So I know more. I will make sure that you know more. That's what I've got. >> Hey, Scott. We we uh walked the track tonight and uh I think we're all under the assumption that
uh Mammoth needs to hire somebody else to do the work because they don't know what they're doing. >> That's going to be my point of conversation tomorrow. >> Okay. Previous to this track, that's what they used to do. They used to be general and go from there. This was their indomal track. Well, guess what? That's a swing as far as I'm concerned. Um, so yeah, I'll be pushing that point. We got one more meet this year. We'll get past that and they come in and tear it up or whatever it takes. Everyone knows if you put water underneath it will find a way up and out. So yeah, I'm not that red. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. Now we're ready for Amy. >> Nothing further. >> I don't think that >> I
just did a whole presentation. Well, I was going to say that I'm the best principal ever because I was only supposed to be the only one here, but Tyler's also the best principal ever cuz he showed up, too. >> The other two. >> Are you doing all four then? >> Definitely not. My presentation is over. So, we are near the end of the year. We have We had our preschool go to the zoo today. First grade is going on their end of the year field trip tomorrow. They will go to the park in the bowling alley. Second grade will go to Scott City to the city park on Wednesday. Preschool will graduate on Thursday and that is their last day and then we will have all kinds of water days and fun and stuff like
that and dismiss half-day dismissal on Friday. So, I can't believe the year is over. It's flown by and it's been a great year. That's all I have. Thank you, Amy. Tyler, I guess you're next since Ry's not here. >> Uh, two things. Uh, one, in April, or I guess it's May now. I try to give you just a summary of our, uh, or how our drills, our safety drills and emergency drills went this year. Um, so those are in the board report. Um I've candidly I've never gotten anything as far as like uh from the state or anything like what's what's the recommended evacuation time. Um the looking at our size and federal guidelines it says all to be you should be able to evacuate a single floor with about 100 or 197 kids should
be able to do that in two to three minutes. All of our drills are within that. So um with the exception of one each time they did it we got better. So that's good also. Uh but th those reports are there for you. Um and then in my June report, I'll put our uh behavior summary for the year uh for that. Other thing I wanted to mention, um also in the report, as of today, um we've saved about $3,000 for the district on our changing Chromebooks. Um but we're still having issues. We still have kids walking with them and instead of putting them in a backpack, they drop them. So things still happen. Um so I've been working with Julie, our IT department. Uh we've purchased enough Chromebook carts. Our plan is to get away
from one to one and every teacher has a Chromebook cart in their room. Um there's still a process. If a kid needs to check it out, we will still do that. We'll give them uh but we're looking at they're just in the classroom for every teacher for every kid to have. They get them out when they need them. They're not port transporting them all over the place and dropping them having things happen. So um we're looking to we'll bring that policy. I was talking to Julie. We'll bring that next month for you guys to look at. Um, but we're looking at making that change for next year. So, thank you. >> Uh, next we'll move into finished business. Let's see here. Already had the student presentation. Health insurance. >> All righty. Every once in a
while we get good news and this is great news. Uh my contact with Brian that's our church broker and as of the writing of my board packet to you it says we're looking at a 2% increase in health insurance but it came to us with a zero% increase if we stick angle with the signal. This is great. Um, quotes that we received from Blue Cross didn't even um came in at 67% increase. So, um, that's no compunction. The government of increase. So what's next on the hit plan is Wednesday uh the insurance committee will come together at which this will be presented to individuals uh on the member membership committee and state of one board member Dr. um three four teachers staff members and administrators they'll make a recommendation to me and then of course
I'll be making a recommendation you for the June board meeting and so it'll be all federal for so I don't know why they would choose to go with anybody who 67% increase but they did it so it should come in even 0% increase next year. >> That's really good news. >> Next next item on the agenda is the SRO contract. >> Yeah, we finally worked out all the language with the city of Hulcom back and forth and all all well. Uh so 9 for the board to take action on the contract the amount of $33,696 >> expensive buy a radio $1,000 for them to use radio for some odd reason of communication for the radio a radio type thing. So we're fully covered that way as far as the event upward of her. So uh
I acted on this our fortun about automatic rate and all that kind of good stuff. Um, I'm convinced that we need to have an SRO and even if Jason doesn't do the work, which I hope he does, we would have somewhat there's no plan for Jason to go away, but this was the uh relationship intact. I recommend the board approve the S contract as >> I'll make that motion. Moved by Jerick, seconded by Sean to uh approve the SRO contract as presented. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed? Motion carries. Uh next is middle school capital projects. If you come up to the table just in case there questions. Um I can ask one or two. Um I know you guys did the tour tonight and all got to see the u floor
on board for quite something. Um the short answer on this in the press notes version is everything is set up to kick off one. So what has been ordered for the floor Terry and his be and putting in the new and then refinishing that whole yard the tile project we will be removing the tile and modius will come in and polish the concrete things I know every time I go into Walmart I look at it it's a nice approach it saves us money over time because we have to stretch wax all that got to get done. That too will be done in June and then the art project J& will come in they do it uh soon they'll do the pull out and insulate the square. Uh later in the meeting I'll be asking for
you to pay for those two pieces of the projects. Uh everything goes according to oil and river tribe milk. We should be finished by the end of July moving into the next school year. So all that uh we do know for the summer months any practices will be in place uh throughout well beginning of July pretty much in the floor. Everything else should be ready to roll before school starts. Anything got into that or is that good enough? >> That should be everything. >> All right. Question board. >> Nope. >> Just just for my own knowledge, do uh do you have to go in and put a coating on that concrete every so often or? >> Yeah, we will have uh when we auto scrub it, there's some conditioner that we put on. So, once
a month, we we'll use that. Instead of a cleaner, we'll just use the sealant that they have for it. It's pretty simple and by I think all they said it's like one ounce. So when we buy one, it's going to last for a couple couple years. It should last a while cuz that's the only spot we have. That's the only special thing we have to do to that concrete is just make sure we seal it and we've already talked and told everyone how to do it and should be good to go. Up next is the Kissa plan update. >> All righty. Um on April 22nd, the district leadership team made up of members of each building, leadership from High Plank and Co, administrative team and Julie all win down to our story of what's been
going on. They just really did a fine job. really truly if you listen and uh you can keep it in the rare and it was obvious that across the board 363 had better and more in depth buying on what's going on basically um creating a instructional playbook and what we report on is it's all about improving instruction through professional learning around the concept for us we chose of Archer is an educational her concept of expected construction. So the year's work was to build this count for next year if you will and the section out pieces of that book we told the story and we got a report done in the next two weeks. Um, I could not be prouder of well the team that was there but everybody back in who been a part of
this across the board more than anything that I've seen in the 19 years I've been in the chair buying on them and that is really truly attributed to the admin team there sitting in the room uh and the build that been shephering that through the building and teachers and staff too. So um please running next year with implementation there's no motion on this outside of report I made this report um and we'll move next year to go so recommendation if you're call you know effort to approve of course but it's nice to have you know money to the state afterreditation. That's it on that. >> Next, we have overnight trips. >> All right. A couple years ago, state put in the regulation or law rather that the board need to presentation across the state of
take action to allow students to spend the night someplace. Um we've done that for years but now we've codified them for the entire picture. Uh so rather than bringing these to your piece though about years in adopted a process a couple years back of just having all of them in front of you at once that we know of at this moment. You got things and in that you'll show who it is, where they're going, how many people are staying to go, how it's being paid for. basically what it boils down to uh if a group earns their way to a state um the district that it's what so I think got like more tonight approve requested All right. >> So moved. >> Moved by Land and seconded by Dave to approve the overnight trips as
presented. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. See here. That moves us into new business contingency fund purchases. >> All righty. A couple years back about six years ago, there are only four acceptable or legal reserve funds and they brought open up the board. We use contingency reserve funds for anything you want. We have the caveat that there has to be a active in public. So we can't just put it in the warrants even though this is even more legal. Um so what I'm bringing forward tonight needs to be in the form of three different motions for this three different motions. Uh assuming the board says yes is what I'm asking you. So all under new pay I'm asking for the board to approve of $47,286 to go to Mobius Flooring
and Construction. That's for the policy of the concrete and a second million via paint that rain center $54,792 for the property. Those two projects come from the water. Okay. I'm sorry. And then the final purchases for the cont I think last month what I'd be coming from and think about coming out of capital since I change my mind to move her if the board embraces this and I hope you do this will still keep us over $500,000 in court fund. So let me help me teach back some more capital fun. So uh in order for this to take place I would need three different motions one and one for you. So I recommend >> Dr. Did did you say the flooring and the J&N paint that is not covered by our deductible or that is
our deductible? >> This is what we're choosing to use our deductible. It's basically what it is. We've got the $100,000 out. The rest of it for the form will be coming from the insurance $200,000 worth. So that's what this is. >> Thank you. Thank you. So I have a question too. So the the two amounts for the for the middle school floor stuff is that's comes up to more than 100,000, >> right? >> And our deductible >> 102. So 100 of that is what we have to pay anyway out of out of pocket and we could I guess take 2,000 of that out insurance which is fine but in order to get things pre-ord >> and then what's the reason for doing the computers out of the contingency fund >> just to maintain picked up
a lot by where we need to be because as you guys call we're living out of there with salary for the first time ever. Uh and so it's want to keep it intact the capital outlay that is and we still are north of 500,000 with reserve. Yes, we could put dollars out of there if you want to. I don't I mean fix one of the other we do need tonight we have time to us and we have set up to go back to get to us. >> Okay. Anybody got any more discussion on any of those? I would entertain a motion to pay the first one to Mobius Flooring and Construction LLC at $47,286. I move >> second Jerk and Landon. Um been moved and seconded pay $47,286 to Mobius Flooring and Construction LLC. All
in favor say I. I. opposed. Motion carries. Entertain a motion to pay J&M Paint and Decorating Center $54,792.73. >> Second. >> Dave and Jerick. All in favor say I. >> I >> opposed. Motion carries. Entertain a motion to purchase the desktop computers from Dell at the amount of 93,558.96. >> Second Ryan uh Shog and Landon. It's been moved and seconded to purchase the desktop computers from Dell at $93,558.96. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Next we have summer food service program. uh in order to offer the summer uh summer field program for the past 10 years. We've been helping this for free to our people. You'll see the details here. I'll start off on May 26. the high school breakfast from the time 7:15 to 10:15 and lunch site
will take place at elementary school 11 to do so and we're waiting you know give give a week off or so they can catch their breath for school year and work hard all year long uh but passing this motion uh we will have our daughter summer up to the table wing I'd like to continue the summer meal program as presented. >> Dr. Myers, is there is there a good form of communication to let parents and everybody know that this takes place and what time and where? >> Yeah, we will do it multiple ways. We'll we'll put up a marquee board of course just run that on a loop and then in case you want to put it out you have a call thingy that we do. Uh, so you'll try to get if you're a
parent, you'll get clam blasted with this puppy. And by the way, there are no income restrictions on that. So you make a million bucks a year. Come on in and free eat a free taco, free eggs. Your kids, your kids, not you. Your kids. Uh, yeah, we will get we'll put on the website. We'll get out there as many ways as possible, but if somebody wants to if they're bad enough to hear it, they won't hear it. Let's do the best we can. Do we get really people at 7 or kids at 7:15 in the morning? >> Absolutely. >> All right. >> And we do that early too for the kids that >> school first rounds at six. >> All of those are there. >> It's it's it's a it's a good deal. We appreciate
it. Good deal. I'll make that motion to approve it. >> Second. >> Moved by Jerick, seconded by Landon to to approve the summer meal program as presented. Um, all those in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Item C, donation. Um we have once again we have a work support from our community patrons. It meant a lot of their face. This month we have another donation uh coming forward to fund the uh for the baseball diamond. I want to thank particularly Landon and Lucas for helping you know she through to get to where we have it tonight. Um assuming a positive uh production of this what will happen next is tomorrow morning I will be be calling Nick from America I would absolutely believe that they'll be able to take action on that
contract in the board meeting. There's no real reason to accelerate that because next I'll be talking tomorrow in order to be ready for baseball season next year round in October. So we'll get it done. Um the contract to be approved in I hope in June and then design elements set up project all kind of stuff during July funding funding leopard I recommend the board accept the donation as presented move >> second moved by Sean seconded by Landon to accept the donation as presented. Ed. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. >> Just a quick question. Is that going to cover the whole amount? 541,000. >> Yeah. Insulation. Yeah. I mean the carpet and the inflation. Yes. The work. Yes. All ground. All ground work. Everything. Materials. Labor. lot of money. >>
Uh, next item, personnel. How long you think you got? >> Uh, 10 minutes. >> Um, let's go. Let's go 20. And we would like to have a few minutes at the end with with just the board and Robin. >> Um take a motion to go into executive session for 20 minutes starting at 7:45. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Moved and seconded to go into executive session for 20 minutes starting at 7:45. All in favor say I. I. I >> opposed. Motion carries.
