001[music] I think cross country and track, how I work hard within [music] my sport makes me realize, you know, how you really have to apply yourself in all areas. I always call it a 50/50 sport. [music] It's 50% physical but 50% mental. And I think that often carries over [music] in cross-country athletes into their academics because they're so used to working so hard already that it's something that they've already [music] been accustomed. I would say academically it has helped me develop discipline, just [music] gain confidence within the classroom. I'm in the business pathway here at Dumbar, so I compete um in a business [music] program. So I think that running has really helped me gain the skills to do those opportunities. Soccer. It's always been something I've enjoyed and it's nice to [music] have people

002I can share like similar interests with. >> Growing up, I was always quiet. You know, I didn't want to talk to anyone, make any friends, but ever since I started playing soccer, it's just like it's kind of become natural. >> It's definitely taught me a lot. I've learned a lot about both [music] myself and just what it takes to to be a leader. Being the first team to win a region championship at Brian Station was a big accomplishment. this was the first time for them to be able to take in uh playoff soccer that involved Brian Station High School. >> When you do something [music] like that, I think you really got to value that. A part of being a student athlete is the student part. So, me just wanting to always play soccer means

003that in the classroom I have [music] to stay on top of everything. It helps me have more pride in my school and like the things I do and combined with the soccer like it kind of feel [music] like it completes what I'm trying to achieve. You know, without our seniors this season doing the small things that we've asked them to do, we probably don't achieve all the things that we wanted to achieve this season. >> At the end of the day, running isn't just about [music] a time or a placement. I think it's a lot more important to view the sport in a manner that helps me become a better person than just as an [music] outlet for myself. She holds every school record from the 800 to the 5K. She set the all-time [music]

0045K record both on the track and cross country season this year. >> Our program has a very high standard whenever it comes to leadership and responsibility. >> From being on a a team like this, I've learned how to like [music] create friendships and bonds with people who I never thought I'd talk to. So much hard work that I've been putting in for all my years of high school, all my years [music] of soccer. I felt like it paid off finally this year. You can always do the things you you think are like impossible. Just don't underestimate [music] people around you and believe in yourself and you can do it. They're going to be graduating Brian Station [music] High School, not only as fantastic students, but also as leaders of a sports program that now they

005can look back on hopefully 5, 10 years from now and be proud of.
