011the senior address if I had to define the climate of the last four years in this speech we would be here for 3 hours our class has lived through some of the most rapid and intense changes of the 21st century a global pandemic eight Taylor Swift albums highly contentious elections artificial intelligence Tik Tok International Wars and Elon Musk yet every problem that has been thrown at us we met because of this we have secured our place in history history is not made by one person but by a community who makes a choice the class of 2024 has been that Community our teachers have nurtured a passion for learning our administrators have guided us our families have encouraged every step we take and our peers have inspired us every day we made a choice to wake
012up and maximize our days turning one period of learning into a lifetime of Education time and time again our generation has been told that we don't care enough we don't care enough about voting about other people about ourselves in one word we are apathetic when I look at my class I don't see apathy instead I see the faces of people who are ready to make a change people who have already made changes the range of contributions we have made is wide from having a girls flag football team for the first time who made it to states to our nationally ranked band to the successive championships of the palm and cheer team to the political advocacy we have engaged in to the success of our academic competitors to the many other accomplishments that are too great
013to name we have left our mark on Mountain Ridge still the biggest changes are the ones we made internally while we may have started by logging on to zoom each day and using SnapChat as our main line to the outside world we are not ending that way our last year has been filled with unprecedented growth we acknowledge the end of our childhoods while while still pursuing the childlike Wonder inherence in all of us in many ways it was a year full of last the last time we will yell in the stands at a ridge football game the last time we will throw off our shoes on the dance floor at prom and the last time we will sit in the same class with people we might have known since we were 10 we don't have

017name is p Dennis senior class representative Mrs Lindsay fleel holds both a bachelor's degree in math and a master's degree in educational Administration she has been teaching the wonderful world of math for 21 years of which 17 have been at Mountain Ridge she was named a Deer Valley Unified School District teacher of the year in 2018 and is currently the math department chair please welcome Mrs flegel giving our faculty reflection [Applause] welcome distinguished guests my colleagues family friends and of course the reason we are here today the amazing class of 2024 what's up yo today today I stand here as a person who refused to give a speech my entire high school and college career because it is one of my biggest fears when Mr Vines asked me to give this speech I said no
018immed mediately because that fear crept back in after some thought I decided all of you sitting before me are 100% worth facing my fear of public speaking Elanor Roosevelt once said you gain strength courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face you must do the thing you think you cannot do as that quote sunk in I realized each and every graduate here today has faced Their Fear in some capacity at over the last four years of high school each of you had to step out of your comfort zone in some way or another whether it was the determination to try out for a sports team the confidence to audition for the school play the strength to walk into a club meeting for the very first time
019or the Poise to perform in band in choir or the courage to come to school each day even though many of you face difficult situations and challenges the halls of Mountain Ridge are in your rearview mirror after after today but my hope is the memories you gained and the friends you made will stay with you for a long time we can't forget the vibe of a Friday night football game with the band playing the football team putting their heart into every play and ridge Army along with cheer and pal getting the student section hyped those late nights that led up to putting on the school play not sure if everything would fall into place but we all knew Mrs Gordon and Miss nardone would have you ready for that spotlight the memory of the last
020time you stepped onto the ridge field or court with your family to celebrate your senior night in the sport you pushed yourself to the limits for you will no longer have to listen to the debate of who the better Evans brother is or watch Mr Vines and Mr mhler perform their awkward announcement songs that seem to never end the days of cramming for Mr Green Miss Roa Mr rossy's econ and government tests are behind you the Instagram worthy photos that you had to find the perfect caption for from all those events Student Government worked so hard to plan are a permanent your reminder of your days as a mountain Li as the Mountain Ridge chapter of your life closes today I want to encourage each of you to face this next part of your journey
