Okay, we'll go ahead and get started. It's 5:30. Um, at this time, I'd like to call our meeting to order. And if everyone would please join me in a moment of silence. Thank you. At this time, would everyone please stand and join me for the pledge of allegiance? I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. At this time, we are down to approving our agenda. Have a couple more changes. Um, I need to make a motion to amend the agenda by changing action item D from previous title of consider purchase and installation of metal bleachers by sports for Milberg County Middle School football field to consider purchase and installation of
metal bleachers from Milberg County Middle School football field by Mr. All in favor of amending the agenda by changing action item, please say I. All opposed. Hear none. And I'm going to need to make a motion to amend the agenda by adding action item L, which is to consider approval of work at Central City Elementary School. Second by Mr. Porter. All in favoring the agenda adding action item L, please say I. I. All opposed. Are there any other changes or additions to the agenda? If not a motion to approve agenda, Mr. All in favor of approving the agenda, please say I. to recognition. Good evening, you board members and guests out there. We're slimmer crowd today. I have an individual that I'm wanting to recognize this evening who recently received an award and we wanted
to make it more public. uh she received it at the end of the school year, but we wanted to do it at a board meeting tonight as well. So, it's the award for the student teacher, excuse me. Um it it is given to a student who taught during the fall or spring semester of the 2025 26 school year and demonstrated great potential as a future educator. This year's student teacher of the year is described by Muerberg South Elementary staff as one who consistently goes above and beyond building strong relationships with students and showing up each day prepared, positive, and ready to make a difference. All great qualities for a teacher. colleagues praise her creativity from designing engaging lessons and Pokemon themed projects to thoughtful touches like personalized bookmarks and rewards that leave a lasting impact
on students. She connects with every child showing kindness, patience, and a willingness to meet all learners needs including working confidently with deaf education students. Through her collaboration, adaptability, and passion for teaching, she has made such a meaningful impression that students and staff alike already see her as an incredible future educator. This individual was born and raised right here in Merberg County. She graduated from Miller County High School just a few years ago and is now in the process of being hired as a teacher at Milberg South Elementary. So, I ask that you please join me in congratulating our 2025 2026 student teacher of the year, MISS I'm not sure that I said that nomination comes from anyone across the district who nominated. So, it's quite an honor for her to be recognized. Before I close,
that's the only kind of I guess official recognition that I was going to do, but I just want to say this is our final board meeting for a couple people who are here in the room. So, we have Miss Joe Cooper with us this evening. Makes us very, very sad that she's decided that retirement sounds better than working with us each day. But, um, she is retiring at the end of this month after many, many years in our school district. How many years? 27. and for food services director how many years sorry I didn't research that beforehand that's a long time to feed our kids and I just like to recognize her for THAT and I also want to recognize Miss in the role that she's playing right now but is in right now transition
sorry transition So we want to thank you for your leadership in these last four years. Thank you. Thank you. At this time now we'll move down to our treasures report6. As you can see it's quite a bit less. That's because we did best. So I just kind of have any more detail questions. We did invest in um and we invested 2 for 3 years for 4 years and 5 years for 5 years and the potential earnings earnings over the course of that time,000 somewhere. where we do this also because we had this next month cash back in there and then next we get another 57 74,000. So within a year's time, it's going to be that's why that's next. As far as revenues over 2 million for general funds, uh fun was a little bit
came late for fun. So that's why we also got capital as far as expenses expenses here 25 and everything else is pretty much here and right now right now we're 78% there and also for the uh break So different there. All in favor of approving the treasures report, please say I. for the wheels. So far, motion. All in favor, please say I participation. All right, we'll move down now to our administrative report and super. All right. Um I'm going to start with recognition of another one of our members who will be um leaving us tonight. Um so I want to have a nice basket of gifts. We want to say give a big thank you to Kate for serving as our first ever student member on our board of education um panel and she's done
a phenomenal job and we've been excited to have you and just a little bit of a thank you for all that you've done in the time that you've been here with us. We really enjoy having you. Heat. Yeah. Nice little um All right. So then the next thing we have is Miss Stacy Jones who's going to share some end of the year. All right. So, at this time, we're just going to give a very glance at our end of the year that our administrators got to look at that with our red on during May 19th during our birthday. And so, this is just a glance of what they looked at. Of course, just to remind everybody, of course, our goal for the 25 26 school year was to improve profic proficiency percentages for all students
in reading and math. Um, start out with math. And we spent a lot of time in the midyear review looking at our median, our progress, annual typical growth. And so this this graphic up on the screen right now shows where we ended at the end of the year with 90 we made it to 95% math. And again this is individual students. So this is tracking individual students growth and we line them up from lowest to highest. We look at a little over half made their typical growth. So we almost made it to that goal of 100%. Did come in a little short where we wanted to but again wanted to show we end up on that. So the next slide shows our spring. So I did leave winter because I did want you to be
able to compare and try to find the shifts that we did make. This slide compares us our district to the state and then the national um students that tested this spring but then also shows the norms based on the threeear norms that are set. So you can see that we did have movement from winter to spring. just adjusted but did stay pretty consist very consistent with the others across the state and the national norms in math and the next and you have to print out with you in front of you each grade level. Now this shows 3 years to spring. So showing from the time from 23 24 and comparators each grade level. So that looks at each grade level featuring all the students grow each grade level performance years and then see that middle
school. Of course you do remember in the spring we had as large window between that mid year we were out several days in the winter. We had to delay that uh midyear diagnostic. So the spring came a little bit uh faster than than we normally have. We had as many weeks in between as we didn't want it. So now that I move to reading, we do see again this is in our media. So we stack those students up. Our goal was 100%. You see we surpassed that. We get past 100% 6% is where we ended up reading through that. And then on the spring, we do see the shift from winter to spring, but also the comparison with the state and the national parks there again. And what you'll notice too, what I I do
want to point out is that we are seeing that movement in those levels from that below grade level to above grade level. We are seeing we see more. We want to see a lot more movement. We want to continue to see that we are seeing that and the same for reading. Again, we have the breakdown of the grade levels from 23 24 to the current 256 school year that we just finished. and K through five and then six, seven and eight. Now the next slide that I wanted to add because I know there is a lot of talk about screen times right now and just reminder with our curriculum all of the curriculum that is offered uh right now has both digital and print resources available. We do have both with our ready that we
purchase each year. We get the printed uh workbooks with the math and reading the K through five. We also have the digital side. What I wanted to show you is reminder that I already does recommend students get about a 45 minute per week in reading and 45 minutes per week in math. personalized instruction which is beyond their lesson throughout the day or daily lessons. This is just their path. You will see that actually we are on the lower end of that average. Now that's just from winter to spring. So that shows each grade levels average for the minutes per week. And that's what I just want to remind you that is per week from winter to spring. But this is for math. And then the next page does show the reading and that is just
for the personalized instruction. But I wanted to but of course we use a lot of other resources too in addition to that. But I just want you all to be able to see all our usage questions. Good afternoon, chair board members. I don't have a actual report for you all, but I do want to go over uh some numbers throughout the year. Our average daily attendance this year, uh the 25 26 school year is 93.2%. In comparison to last year, that number was 92.7%. So, we're about half% which is good to see. um our average uh daily membership, which is our enrollment throughout the school year, that average was 4,090 of the school year. Last school year, 4,24. So, we're down on average 114 students. And our highest enrollment uh was month two, 4,123 students.
Highest attendance month this school year is Monday at 95%. And that is not any questions. That's just a few things I wanted to share with you. >> Yes, you are. I was like item A is to consider approving theou at the M County Job Center. So what you all have uh approved over the last several years was a memorandum of understanding the job for the whole program. Uh their federal guidelines have changed that only has to be done once every 5 years. So what you see tonight is memorandum of understanding for the code enrollment program at the high school that has to be approved each school year. So the overall program once every 5 years enrollment will be every year. So that is what you have as far as the decision. >> Any questions? >>
Is there anything that's changed in this? >> There's been a few things change with them just like the federal guideline of this having to be approved each year and not the overall The overall memorandum includes career high color enrollment op like what we provide to the star staff color is the original high school. So there's not a place for this right. All in favor considering approval of the drop please say I hear none. >> Item B is to approve amended 2526 school calendar. Uh this is a routine procedure in the school year. Uh this uh film that you all have is generated throughout the campus and this is what we substitute in school year. You all have several minutes throughout the year but this is the final motion. All in favoring the 2526 calendar, please
say I hear none item. Thank you to consider purchasing a bus with medic. any motion by Mr. Second by M. All in favor of Medicaid funds, please say I. I. I. All oppose. I hear none. Thank you. to sit next to him for December last night. All right. So, item D. Um, and this is to consider purchase and installation of metal bleachers for the Milber County. Yeah. So, you have um in your documents a quote for it's 100. It's enough. It's bleachers for 100 seats plus three spots for um ADA for um disabled. And this is different than what we originally said because it didn't have the the other one did not have the ramp. This has the ramp. Um and so we're asking that you go with this float from um park parks catalog,
the park and facilities catalog. Um and that be it when you take out the tax which when we provide on the tax exempt certificate that will be um 80,000 for those for the question will these bleachers be able to move to the baseball field? appearance say baseball field is in bad shape or is it permanent? >> Yeah. No structure. >> Yeah. It would be permanent >> on on the concrete path. All in favor considering the purchase um consider purchase and installation of metal from county middle school football. Please say hi. She's so delayed. I hear on to item B and that is approval of the district facilities plan. Yes. So you have the um draft of the district facilities plan. We've had three um facilities planning meetings with the committee and then the draft plan
is sent to KDE. They approve it. It comes back, you all approve it. Then there's a public hearing which will come um next. So that is the um the draft that has been approved by KD the district facilities plan. I'll make a motion to approve second. All in favoring the district facilities plans please say I posted none. Item F is uh to consider awarding bids for CDL physicals board members. So this is our yearly awarding of CDL physicals and we've had an ad place in the paper for 2 weeks. The deadline was June 15th. We received two bids and u I would recommend we go with the lowest bid which is who we are currently using as well. using uh community still at 55 65 165 for the DOT fiscal and then test all in
favor of the CDL to community health please say Item five at all opposed and um item G is to consider the first reading of KSBA policy update number 49 and this is another yearly and this is board policy update number 49. All of these are either required by state law, recommendations by ASBA um for policies that we have looked at as well to make some changes to you receive those. Um this is the policy update. So this will be the first reading our second reading which is July and I would recommend consider this as the first reading as ASB4 positive number 49 changes number 49 please say It all opposed. Item H is review of KSDA board procedure update number 30. >> Again, another yearly update. This is these are the procedures that go along
with the policies. This is only a one time reading because it is procedures and we recommend that we adopt the KSBA procedure update. So move Second by Mr. George. All in favor procedure update number 30. Please say I hear none. Item I is to consider posting a title one certified art teacher at South Elementary School. So at 73 they had a team for a classified staff member that resigned retired resigned. Um and so we had that opening. It was a classified position. They reviewed some of their funds with title one and they believe that they can uh use their title one funds to hire a certified teacher at the elementary school and that would be uh what they would wish the board to approve tonight. And I would recommend we approve proposing title one certified
art teacher elementary please say I follow. Item J is to consider early posting and hiring of the principal position county. >> So recently we did hire Mr. Madam Kish as our assistant superintendent of district operations and personnel. And with that hiring they left vacancy at the principal position at Cath Middle School. And in order to make sure that we allow for a larger pool qualified applicants, also to make sure that if a candidate chosen for that position already works in our district and the domino effect, we want to make sure that we get this posted as soon as possible. Uh with the approval, we would get this posted tomorrow and it has to be posted for 15 days. So that would allow us time to get interviews in and also some training for the one
that is selected to be the principal school. So I would recommend that we approve the early posting and hiring of the president. All in favor of considering the early posting and hiring of principal at county middle school, please say I. All none. Item K is to consider early posting and hiring of the personnel assistant position at the county central office. >> This one saddens me a little bit because this is my secretary Kel who has been uh this is my third year in HR and she has been my right hand and I can't say enough good things about her. So this one hurts because we are losing a very qualified experienced individual but she is retiring come October 1st. So with that being an October retiree, then if we post that now, we can get
someone in early in for the same reason. If it's someone chosen within the district, we can fill their position. But then the biggest piece of this is the training that can take place between the time we hire and October because that is a big job in our district of hiring individuals. So I would recommend that we approve the early posting and hiring of the personnel assistant position here at the central office. Will she still retire won't matter for her matter? All right. All in favor considering early testing and hiring of personnel assist items is to consider approval of work elementary. the gravel that you make. I have a motion by Mr. Jar. Second second. All in favor considering approval of the work at Central City Elementary, please say I. And we are down now to
work a couple of minutes request. All in favor and agenda items, please say I. I oppose. And before we go into closed stand for your support. You guys been an honor and a privilege to serve the children and I appreciate all my wild songs everybody in this office and I appreciate y'all and this will be my last board meeting with my We'll do that. We'll do that. So we get to see his job. >> Yes, she has. Joe's been phenomenal. So I mean all through co everything she's done I mean just unbelievable. I was behind so many school buses you know during that time and seeing the little kids come out and get their food and their faces and their families just very touching and you were the you were the root behind that. SO
THANK YOU. I I I'll throw something in here real quick just to say um Joe is one of those people who can have 50 million things on her plate and she still walks up to the front and says, "Hey, what can I do to help?" Like we will definitely miss you. You've been a a treasure to to get to know and to be around this last year. We love you. Hey Dave, thank you for everything. So at this time uh we are going to need a motion to go into close session to discuss personnel KRS6 1.810 and that is our superintendent evaluation. So the last one from Mission all in favor session please say I post. So we're back in open session now the results to our evaluation of our superintendent on the seven um
seven standards. Uh standard one strategic leadership we gave exemplary. Standard two instructional leadership we also gave exemplary. Standard three is cultural leadership we gave exemplary. Uh standard four human resource leadership exemplary. Standard five managerial leadership we also gave exemplary. Uh standard six is collaborative leadership. We also gave exemplary. And the final stand which is influential leadership we also gave. SO our last You did absolutely. I was always confused. You know that the idea you brought to the table is what you wanted to do, what vision you had for you. We appreciate you. We are so excited that you're getting to retire, but you're staying with us a little bit longer. Um, and I know you know your family is important and your husband's retired and you're going to have a lot of good fun times.
So, thank you. That's right. >> That's the best way to All right. So, at this time, I need a motion to adjourn. So, motion by Miss Y, second by Mr. Johar. All in favor returning, please say I. I. All opposed are here and we are. Thank you.
