Oh, sure. So he got stop It's looking a lot better around the field. It's probably going to be full and The lighting for football field and softball field. All the lighting ready. Heat. Heat. Heat. They were so successful this year. ste. I mean, you know, I know you can feel something depending on how successful my season was, but I'm just wondering if that was going 14. I think the other thing you're going to see too, which is what we see a lot, like there are a few bleachers out there now, like for soccer, um, so many people bring their own chairs, right? So,
and there's the ability to do that around because you said low Heat. I think I think that's something we really need to look at and access to the same location to get there from parking lot that expensive compared to on this side. You have the other side. >> So what the bleachers for the home and the away would be on the same side. I think must we just put some small Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. It's really not. Heat. Heat. No, it's not. It is the city. It is the cities and and I think if you would go and talk to the city, you know, I think that they might be I mean would because the reason why those tennis courts are back there is because when they built the new
school, the tennis courts were to the right of the school. Anyway, so the as agreement the school system the city of Rainbow and that's the reason there was an outdoor Anyway, there was it was not in patient It was really worth the last I mean, that's what I'm saying. We have positive lines in the city. So it would be worth conversation with the city of Greenville to talk to them because I don't think as far as the city of Green I mean you know because we got those cards over there park and the only thing that you utilize in Morgan Park is basketball not the tennis courts tennis courts are not I mean, you know, I think that's where people are going to the magic center and you're wrong. Yeah. Yeah. So, anyway, that would

I don't know if there Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah, I know. Yeah, because I know they were getting ready. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Oh, the other Right. Heat. working install doors to the size of you Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. We did have a really good day today though. We brought a team. It was about 50 of us and that included staff, students. That was the best part for the students that joined us and then we had a few people that parents were supposed to be there had some issues at work but that went
really well. um the end rising students that you all recognized last meeting they uh presented their future schools project that they completed and that was a great start today because they got to tell us about that and we did that right prior to going in the high school. So of course as you all probably aware they in that future schools project they were um they were designing what schools would look like technology um environment. It was very interesting. So then we did learning walks and went into classrooms. Big takeaways from that really went right on the high school. It looks so different today as it goes across the school than it did four years, three, four years ago. We did learning walks. We saw flexible learning environments where students were not in straight rows and
desks. They were up. They were collaborating. Um they were in the hallways. We had saw classrooms in the hallways. They were using paying strategies which Julie and I were just super excited. sore about that, but up moving, communicating, and this was only day three of our second semester. So, that was a big big deal on me reminding everybody of that new classes. So, that was a big part of the day. Um, we did review and I have sent you all in your hand now a dashboard that gives you a link to get to the blueprint survey impact. Now, this is also called collaborative causes impact survey. You're going to hear back in December, December 16th, the state every 2 years is an impact survey. So that is only for staff to complete. This one was
sent out to students, staff, families, and the celebration on that is with this being the baseline right after Christmas, we gave this January 5th through the 15th. So, it was a 10-day window that our stakeholders had the opportunity to respond to that. And as of the 15th, we had almost 2,000 students, which we did was fourth through 12th grade students that responded. um 147 teachers and then of course the numbers are broken are coming classified and certified but over 400 families responded which was really Katie was very complimentary of the amount of feedback she thought that was a very good sample now it is remain example and Mr. sharp today. He's like, "Oh my goodness, I really want to get that out some more feedback and it's open so we can continue allowing people to
take that survey." But you all have a link. We were able to look through some information, look through it today for the first time. I hope that is the first time today. So, I'm going to continue looking through that. Um, just some big takeaways that were identified. Um, the strength staff members um frequently describe our schools as having a family atmosphere. So that was a big takeaway. They feel like co-workers, administrators are supportive. Um you know challenge throughout the mention some bullying wanting that magic wand to remove that. That's always been the case. Frustration with technology heavy instruction. So one takeaway was uh widespread dissatisfaction with computer-based programs. But in saying that I want to also highlight a classroom we were in today and I think this happens a lot in our classrooms where students
are given an option today. We were in an English class and every student had copy of the article they read the speech speech that they read. They had a print that was also Chromebooks and they had the hand they got to decide they chose do they want to use a technology device and do they want to do paper so I think a lot of times maybe we don't all know where that's happening but we saw examples of that today so that was very good um in um interactive relevant to the real world curriculum. Again, very proud of Jackson Patterson Labs and I think that really hits the mark on that people and community members to know about that. So, continue to work out that yes, we did the ribbon cutting back in October October and
that was a great turn. And then since then we've actually had some visits from other um other other communities. The hospital brought a big group in to see it. So when we're actually Thursday we have a group from Nelson County coming to Long Elementary to see the career studies there. Yes. And the and the middle school is talking about opportunities for a celebration night, family night, celebration of learning for them to be able to like that as well. But I know our students had some ideas today. They shared about inviting parents in to see the classroom. Of course um you know one take away this is kind of help juggle but of course students elementary school level have frequently asked for more recess longer lunch periods and nap time there is many requests for later
school start time so I thought I would share that but the are today. So the priority groups in the blueprint, how we have broken apart by the priority outcomes. Very uh very excited about the amount of staff and community members that have volunteered to be a part of that committee work. The student center committee and the college and career readiness committee, they've met a couple of times since first initial September meeting. Uh but then the other ones have a chance to meet independently continue to do that champions. Our goal is to have the score card ready by the end of this year to get started. So we have that data to visualize and because when Katie was here we met members back in September. Of course we looked at the metrics through the success metrics
and agreed on those with the also group. So that's why you know keep conversations. I mean, you know, you know, I don't know how to I don't know how to do because everybody not. And I mean, you know, I know and that's what I said. How do you educate the community in here? That was my question. How do we do that? I mean I guess you know elementary level good turn great turn. Um high school I believe they had really good turnout few weeks ago. So middle school is really starting to talk about that. Yeah. These people are personal and our We're having conversations today and things like that more student. So at least if they can't get it where they see and actually we are able to share this large student cuz that's that's
been the best feedback is during these community have been just so impressed with our students and the connections that they make. Heat. Heat. I mean, you know, questions also today. Make sure the kids know about. Yes. Celebration. Students work. I know that if this is the way, you know, then I'm going to always she has a huge following because they know they know they're going to be something for today. So I mean I think that's why our elementary schools try to do that family but they also have to be careful with that because title one funds won't allow you to purchase food right and only certain things even for like giveaway has to be tied to Heat. Heat. You just have like a cheer personally. I mean, I didn't even think I had [music] any.
So, sorry. So this is my question. I actually just went last pay for two teachers. We really are looking at the foundational to start the film in person in person. Um now there's they were very talked about they really enjoyed the reading more so than the math already. Um but again what we found in talking with other districts and talking about their high quality instructional resources, their HQs, there's no perfect resource. So we talked about the pros and the cons of it. uh they do love the data that it gives sometimes they don't feel like it gives enough practice but one thing that we we discussed with that is I already has teacher uh designed lessons where teachers can actually build and give questions for extra practice and so there's options out there of ways
to do that but it's very mixed very mixed and that's why different ways That's what but I mean you know some people didn't like math testing so you switch ready you know and you have to have something I don't give the test no there the assessment um I think hands down everybody will tell you that the quality [clears throat] of what we get what you probably are hearing are like the curriculum part of it right um because I do think we have heard a little bit of that off and on but the problem is like the law now says that the district the superintendent of the district identifies a curriculum. So I have to identify. So with that being said, like I it's ready, you're going to have this group of people that don't like
if it's Hope Midland, you're going to have this group of people who don't like Hope Midland. So there and I think it goes back to there's no right there's no curriculum out there that 100% of the people agree on. So I will I will share one thing. One uh frustration for I know our primary teachers with the reading is the way the program is set up right now. They have the workbooks, the consumables are more the phonics, the vocabulary, the word study. Well, then the comprehension, the skills, they have what's called teacher tool box which is digital and they have to kind of hunt and put things together. Well, we are piloting uh we actually have a training this well the 30th. We have a training for teachers that are piloting. They've come out ready
magnetic literacy which is a comprehensive program that will take everything that we have that we're piecing and putting together right now. It has it all in one comprehensive. Yes. So, we're very excited about that and I got to share that with teachers. We have Greenville Elementary, uh, Greenman Elementary, and Central City Elementary each have grade levels that are highing that. So, we are looking for if they if we like what we see, then we'll be able to adopt that and it'll just be a replacement for what we have in the fall. And that is for six% which is great because currently they don't have anything for six. We know they have the digital they have the teacher tool box they have access to all that but they don't have any print. So that would be
great. the NC. I know you all know it's January 30th and 20th, but um kind of just shows you where we are in the school year and what we have available moving forward. I know you all probably got messages, clips of the weather and everything else and so kind of came at a good time. We have a a big storm coming in this weekend. So, just kind of talking about ETI, looking at at some options that we have uh moving forward if we were to take a a traditional snow day compared to an EI day. Um, and just some things that I kind of kind of wrote down. So, February 16th, you can see on there, that is a that's a staff work day. And, uh, that's kind of uh we're going to use that
date for an instructional type date for our teachers. So we have a I know Miss Jones kind of have a big plan for us that day. So that's that's really a day that we we don't want to use if we don't have to. And then March 16th, same thing. It's a staff work day. So what that would look like, let's just say if we took a traditional snow day when you lose an instructional day, you have to find a place for it to go. Okay? So that would be one option. If we use that day, um, then we have to find a place for the staff work day. Not not that big of a deal. U, we can always add that after Memorial Day if we needed to. Um, other options, March 22nd is the
the Friday after the day students get out to get out on the 21st. U, that for now is graduation day. Of course, >> you said my sorry. uh that right now is graduation day. So if you if you take that day, that may mess with graduation. They may look to do that on Saturday. That will be uh the holiday weekend. So just to keep a couple things in mind, we have nine NI days left. Um and I know most of you are probably familiar with NI, but kind of the way that works, we put in a participation percentage for students and staff each day. That is that's not really how we're I guess funded. We're funded based off of last year's 8. So whatever that number was 93%. Is what we are given for uh
funding wise for that day. So let's just say we have to add a day or look at adding a day after. Uh my concern with that would be it'll be a low attendance day for students and staff. So you're looking at 75 or 80% uh probably on those days maybe lower. To me it's not u and and those days I know as far as with a teacher but you add days after you know school's supposed to be out and even after the holiday those are just they're wasteful days. >> Um so that would be my concern and now out of necessity if we have to do it we have to do it. Uh I did go back and look. So last year was kind of an outlier. You know, we had 13 NI days. We
had a bad winter plus we had flooding. The the state get 10 NI days. They gave us three extra due to flooding that happened when that happened. Kind of all over the state. 20 uh 23 24 we took five NI days. Uh 22 23 we took five NI days. And then kind of before that they were kind of around co still and a lot of things were different. So went back three years and just kind of looked at at what we had done. Um and that's just kind of you know where we're at moving forward where we are in the calendar uh with makeup days. So I I don't know if you all have any questions. Uh we do have a couple of hours remain still for early dismissal. um we needed to come in
late one day and then the state also gives us five additional hours so we have 7 hours to play with if we we need to take it late or we need to leave early. I think the problem with the TI days is just like last year when they were 13. It was just so many of them. It was it was a lot. It was a different year and I mean they are what they're called. You know, they're not traditional days and it's we know it's not the best but we just I guess have to kind of weigh. Do we want to add them at the end or do we want to continue on? What what I will say is that if we think as a group we don't you know want to utilize N9 let's
just say next year moving forward we need to look at going back to a traditional calendar and the reason for that is it just builds days in um you know we're on calendar right now our year is kind of shrunk once we get started you know you have your fall break spring break other than that there's not a lot of extra days built in um I don't see that on traditional days >> do what you have on traditional >> uh so a traditional calendar we would do um most districts choose to do like 173 days you still have to get 1,62 hours in but anything above that you have to go 170 so if they uh if they have 173 days and they have kind of 3 days built in that they can use plus
any bank time uh that they have they can use as well >> plus you would be starting >> yeah you would are. So, it kind of goes back to the calendar committee. Um, and I know Miss Ranger was on that. Um, there's always a few people that don't like it, which is understandable. Um, but there were over 20 people on that committee and it was unanimous that they loved the calendar that we're on the late start date. Again, that's a variable calendar. So, if we continue going that route, it's important that we utilize ATI. If that's not something that we want to do, then we need to look at our calendar like you do like a week earlier start date. >> No, it's it is in the the KRS that you cannot start before the
Monday closest to the 26th. >> That's right. Now, the state is looking at uh possibly giving us some flexibility on on that start date with a varable calendar, but there's kind of been some talks about just as long as you get,62 hours in, doesn't matter when you start. And that would that would give us a little flexibility. Um, you know, one of kind of some of the negative feedback we get is the high school schedule and how they um they're going 2 weeks after Christmas break to end their semester. Even if you moved it back a week, there still would be a week after. Um, so you would really have to look at going back to the first or second week of August to get evenly split when it comes to the seat time. at
the same time as me. I've got a few emails about that. Anyone else got that? And also on the committee we had there were five there were was a certified high school classified high school uh parent and then there were two community members that were also parents and they were all in favor of marble calendar. They did share some feedback uh about the the schedule, how it wasn't ideal, but then they followed up with what everybody loves their schedule. >> We talk about it a lot in our DVP meetings. There's no perfect calendar and there are kind of holes in whatever you decide. >> No, there's no way to figure that years. >> We are in Kentucky. So those are just some things to consider. I feel like we're probably going to get some sales.
So we'll have some decisions to make. >> So [clears throat] at this point the beginning of the year will you all approve the use of the variable calendar that kind of thing. So that's kind of falls to you all. After that the decision on whether we do NI or not falls on the superintendent. So you can blame it on me, but people email you, reach out to you and say, you know, they don't like that we're taking an anti day. Obviously, they don't understand the flip side of that, which is that you do it the week after Memorial Day and half the kids don't show up and half of our teachers don't show up. So then we don't have, you know, figuring out subs for all of those. Like it just creates a whole issue,
>> right? and they don't and they don't. So, um I guess where your decision lies next year is do you um >> do you do the variable calendar? Now, I caution you on that like there is a committee and that's that's law that we form a committee. If you go against that committee, then you're not listening to your committee. So, you want to be careful about that, too. Um because then the people that serve on that committee are like serve on the committee. We've already voted on your next. Yeah. So next year it will be available calendar you know and that's the thing is how do you get all this information but you can get it out but they don't read it. you can sh you know I know put on the website >> I
think >> oh yeah >> educating the staff as well I know last year I got a complaint or something about how teachers said they have to grades to get the attendance so county can get money so they feel like they're have to put stuff in shows participated it's tied to funding >> your anti >> yeah so that actually is not tied to that participation rate that's where we get to continue using ETI or not. I like it's 50% say well nobody counts the kids aren't doing the funding is tied to last year's I wonder if there's some kind of communication or education we can do in house to say it >> I try not to bring up because if you had the basic And let's just say we're at 70%. We get the drivers, but
that 70% day is going to take maybe an 89 90%. We have lot of cities. So, it's just kind of tough. It's tough to do that. You also have with NI days like you have so many days after so let's say you got kids who um maybe they don't have access to internet or don't have somebody at home to help them right and so um you have so many days after they come back for the teachers to kind provide some assistance to help, you know, kind of promote and encourage, you know, the kids to get the work done. >> And that's not function. But they completely didn't want to do it at all. >> We did 95% of our district has internet. That's what I was kind of surprised that >> that's good enough. I
will say with the calendar, we don't go in. I don't I mean I'm not trying to change anybody's mind or anything like that. We present a traditional calendar and a variable calendar. It's kind of discussed. So it's nothing said the counter committee they you know they picked the counted for the traditional there was a discussion on you know why you know but you know I mean overall you just have to copy um is it plays into effect with the kids taking college classes cuz then they're got classes from last semester and their college classes and the person that sent us the email in which I thought was very nice is retiring but he wanted to make sure that we were aware of it for the future and I said that's a nice email I understood
completely what he was A lot of districts deal with tech schools and colleges and it's it's really hard to make a high school a high school in a district schedule or calendar match up with the college and you know they start like you got one child that's in college and you got two possible or do I mean and you're going to go on that family vacation and you're not it's not going to be the same time you know or I know the colleges you know for break 2 days for college versus you know 2 days and your weekend so you're talking 4 days and you know I mean so it's never going to match up 100% cuz you know the college is already different you know some may be the first two weeks of October
one maybe you know I've looked at various to kind of see when their fall breaks were, you know, talking about me. And so to me, it's kind of those classes over here. I have my perfect timeline with everyone. Well, back in the dark and just went to college, this is the calendar that we had. We had we had classes and then he had Christmas break and then he came back and he had a couple weeks with me files. So we did that back in back in the dark ages. You know they changed it after I graduated but anyway but that was you know that's the way we did. I didn't think a thing about it. Just what you do. Yeah. I mean, you know, just trying to retain what I had learned. I've never seen
break until we get out of those week after we started school monkey. >> Yes. Okay. So, this is just I'm going to do my mobile. All right. So, the top um group says all salaries. That's general fund fund two, which is our title programs, our federal funds that we give, food service and daycare. So, that's all of it combined. um for that top one. And what um might as well just look at the um fiscal year 26 estimate and then there's a 27 um yeah step increase 1% 2% and 3%. So step increase would be just what like when they go up a year. So um that would be the increase of the salary based on a year a new year's worth of employment. Um the second set of categories that is just general fund.
So that takes out um so fund two food service and daycare pretty much kind of fund themselves in a sense right. So um the second category which is general fund would be what you know our revenue that we generate with fund. And then the third group um salaries general fund that is with um a TVA decrease um of approximately $2 million just kind of working and we go back if we go from 6 to 4. So these are really just to give you all numbers. Um so you can kind of see um the worry would be you know if you look at 1% 2% or 3% if you go down to let's say TVA decreases um if you look at that bottom one where it says um the estimate is 38 um million there. And
if you look at up here at the 2% increase, 1% 2% 3 like how close it is. And that's the worry, right? That if um something happens and TVA does take funds and we're awful close to what we and the thing of is that TVA money is never guaranteed. It's TVA money that is put into the budget. This is a budget year for the general assembly. And if somebody is not carefully reading that budget, that money can be gone. And and and that budget can be passed and you will not realize because they can allocate that money to anybody. It does not have to be allocated to your work. No, it's in the budget. Yeah. And I mean, the only reason I know is because it's been taken out of the budget when Brent was
there and anyway, and he line it up, studied, and fought for it. I mean, but it is not a guarantee for us. We are never guaranteed because a representative up in Warren County up in that area when Warren County was one of the other counties. He said because we are getting the smoke from TVA or what pollution then we deserve some of that money that Milber County and that's when we were getting millions and millions of dollars and we deserve that you know but it you know luckily we got all the money and they none of it. But you know, but that's the thing is I don't think people really understand that it's got currently we do not have a representative that's from county first time in 100 years. So, you know, I mean, you
know, and we've got to have that conversation with our representative to make sure that we get that TVA money, you know. So, you know, sometimes it really scares me when I see TVA money in a budget because I'm thinking, oh, I didn't, you know, are we going to get it? Are we not? And we still don't have, you know, the definite answer on, you know, when they took the towers down, you know, they said we would be losing some money. Well, that money hasn't gone away yet, but you know, it it kind of like when the check shows up is what when we know what we're getting or not getting. Um, and that's the hard part. When the check shows up, the year's already started. >> Yeah. Um, so it gets a little bit more
complicated. and just budget. Again, they used to give us money for our schools and um I think it was Logan you called for our leadership and anyway and they said, "Oh, we're no longer funding any programs in your school because you all are not a user of our product." So, I mean, you know, so they're not even cuz I know Miss Johnson and I worked really hard to get money for an outdoor classroom for TVA and then the money came but it went to somebody else instead of you. So just saying but you know I mean you know so they're not even our supporters even like they were when they were fully p full. So this is really, you know, for y'all's information as you, you know, start thinking about increases increase% which, you know,
will be coming up soon, but we wanted to go ahead and give you those numbers that um another thing under finance um that was checked by Eric today um looking mentioned something about athletics and the amount of money that they get um from us like from the board every year and if that's enough. And so what we have done is we've reached out to because the athletic funds for the schools are a different account. They're not they're not here. Um and so we've reached out to the schools to ask for um their budget and their expenditures for their um athletics. those accounts so we can kind of look at them um to see what they're spending what they're spending it on, you know, and kind of help to gauge that so we don't have to.
So So kind of trying to get that information I'll try to answer if I can. We are ready for this. Yes. Mar All right. [laughter] is what I've got. >> Look, I started typing you a text to say, "Hey, just in case I didn't get very far with that." Um the one thing as far as um HR goes, the question about new teachers or how much money teachers get like that um kind of come up in discussion and so I pulled the administrators and got different answers. That's all sight base. Um cuz you know we send them money and [snorts] then site base determines how their money is allocated and divided up. And so teachers get it was a range from between $200 to $300 every year for classroom funds. That could be a combination
of like uh there's SPDM funds and also PTO like if they do fall festivals they give um additional funds you know at that point. Um, and then I check to see with new teachers, um, that's a variety, too. Could be $100, could be 150. Um, one principal said, "We don't give anything specifically to new teachers, but they know to come ask if they need something and we get it for them." So, just kind of a variety of answers on for the teacher. It's um it's the sink um it's the sink money >> and we give exactly what >> exactly what the C is >> what the C is >> divided by the number of people >> which will be mean principles is district. So down in a couple schools and some others. So and then
I do anticipate not everybody's turning paperwork. We're probably looking at 25 retirees or so this year. It's a little bit bigger number. The last couple I think this year, next year we'll see a larger number just because they're their start coming at the same time. this year. the last few years since I've been on the board to well I think there's that possibly you know who we could choose and I think this year we might need to look at Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. of course you know they do all the committees and then I have people that call the candidates and then they bring that information back to us. It's a lot of information that you don't feel like, >> right? I mean, for some Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. I think it would be better.
We have a person here. train that person has to be trained. I mean it could be all. So it's Yeah. Yeah. So you kind of want you want everybody to be able to have some position. Well, I mean just like um you know internally and then you've got a position open for superintendent. Well, then what if a principal from a school, you know, takes that? Well, then you got a principal. Yeah. So, it's really, it looks like it would be better if it would, you know, begin earlier. >> Yeah. reaction. I mean, I don't know what you position. you want position or whatever it is. Uh is that a requirement for them to have a sort of certification even? >> So this be when would the person that we choose come on board? start out,
you know, being able to train, you know, another person that December 1st. December plenty of time to do interview like I was in that position like greet everybody for the first time when they're all together and that's all happen before school starts right so it just seems like financial situation for some but I think for school system I think it would be so much better to have to start Oh, try the air. April can't post anything. The only thing you could post that position has official resation retirement resation. Heat. Heat. Heat. Anything else on top of that? Anything else as far as majority questions? with the retirement struggle. candidates you you can find people that's getting less and less qualified is becoming a big issue across the state. We have been very fortunate here uh
because we we we don't have any positions that are open except for preschool teachers right now. If you talk to other districts, they're they're filling gaps. They don't have people on. We've been one of the few in my HR group that we are the few that are happy. We have everybody. So, we've been fortunate. How long does that last? Eventually, I think I think programs like you're doing. I mean, you know, because I know I started that program at South High School. Yeah, there's several of them that were in that program that are teachers now. So I think that's a we call the hospital for that because I think that's the thing that it makes them want to come back to our services because they see what a good system we have. So I think
that program is great and something we're trying to do as far as improvement. So we have a very experience in this. So I reached out to Murray and Western. I told them we have if someone is coming to Middle Road to student teach, we will make them a part of that day. Then I tried to expand that to say if you have student teachers who when you become a teacher, you've never seen an open house because you just don't see it. You've never seen an opening day of school. So I've told both Western and Murray that hey I even if they don't have student teach here if you will send me their names we will find them a teacher to observe open opening day we will find them a teacher to observe and open house
to me if they get here and get to know our people as a recruitment tool. Not yet for Western but we have because we had some students from Murray that come and shr the or whatever and they're kind of like they want they want to It's something here once people get here because there are great things here. We have our facilities are beautiful. That's not the case everywhere. So if they can get here and see it, we can get the best of the best. This is I think people take it for granted. Coming from another district I have to say this is Shang. It really is. When I got hired on Raven, I was amazed at the facilities. I mean it was old school there was a new school being built and um the quality
of teachers and the caring staff and the community and the sense of community in every school is is just so it's just people take it for granted and I'm going to look right at the camera and say if you are taking it for granted stop and come to your schools and see what's going on. My my favorite part about being a board member is when the kids get dragged off at the beginning and the parents are just sitting there. And I know not every child can do the things that other kids can do, but children need to be celebrated no matter where they are. We have a new president. So actually we just need to contact him and urge him to come up here cuz I think that would be [music] interestingly the new the
new the president at Western actually came and met with us you know called set up the the meeting had we had a meeting with him it was a wonderful meeting um so you know which is great yeah and and I think one of the things about Murray is they're not in our district that our schools are not. So, you know, but they still get an awful lot of students. We get more student teachers from Murray. We do Western and a big piece of it is one you have Madisonville Murray. So, they're here. Western is being a a bigger city that someone want to finish their last year of college, >> still at college. So that I think that's one reason since we are a little bit further removed from Western that we don't get as
many Western I used to work with she was she went [clears throat] I received an Now um let me ask you back up. How many teachers have we have tested positive for drugs? >> I don't know termination or just I'm assuming termination either. >> We have some that test positive but because they're on medication, right? >> So then that runs through the process once the prescription is confirmed. got uh we have had no teachers, correct me if I'm wrong, no certified staff or even classified since I've been in this position with our drug test that were currently working. Yes. >> Okay. >> But not current, but we've already been doing a random drug test. >> Um, I received an email from a teacher that has been drug tested and she feels that it is unprofessional
for us to pull a teacher out of the classroom and drug test the teacher. When I was at Raven, I think I got drug tested more than any other teacher. I'm sure of it. It seemed like every Monday morning I was going down the hall. Um, here's what I know. We are, this county is prolific with methamphetamines. Um, and recreational marijuana is everywhere. Um, but I was asked to pull the board members and central office staff to find out what you all thought of the current policy teachers getting pulled out. How often does this happen? We were four times a year. Uh, this is the first year that we backed off twice. Once in the fall, once in the spring we were So everyone gets twice a year or just here two times a year
twice random and the way it works is I send him a list of all statues and then he will he just does you know that random generator on your phone he'll get it till he gets about 25 I want to say maybe until he so he'll get it and maybe it says number 15 was 15th on that list again just gives numbers then you know sometimes we may not have pulled it all from school so depending on those numbers you know we maybe we don't have to go to to longest this time uh it's just really random on what that looks like um we have people that will say this is my first time ever. I've been teaching for 23 years and the way people like I get tested every single time. >> It's amazing
how you can and of course I got tested twice last semester. We were here once and I never let me be clear. I never minded it. I knew it was part of my job. I did my job and I went down and did what I need to do. So I'm I'm not saying I'm against it. I'm just doing what I was asked and having a discussion about it. I do I do think that testing before employment is very important. I mean there was like everybody else. I mean we do that if we like hey do we do that at that time? >> So we can't do that with our drug test. If it's something like that then we're going to have to get law enforcement involved. It's going to be a situation to where um
hey this teachers or this staff are just a teacher staff uh they don't seem right today something at that point what we're going to do we we actually recently talked to our talked to the lawyer about this is at that point what we're going to do is we're going to contact our SRO you're the expert in noticing what you know few pools and all this stuff if you see anything if it stand regardless or not. I don't think you have to make a decision or anything. I just just think it is policy. So if it's something you maybe you could change policy just like okay for instance if they are driving vehicle and they place it Yeah. Heat. [laughter] She's all [music] she say in light of the circumstances from last week. it might be
a good thing just to kind of give you all an update on our process um what we use because I know that communication has been the key word of the day and I know that everyone's been fairly overwhelmed with that. So probably be important for you all is if you have a good base understanding of what we do and then that way there is conversations after Yeah. Heat. Take the opportunity. Um so anyway uh first page just please be mindful that it is um for your review does not distribute um anything and actually what I've given you is just five pages out of a 169 page um training that all of our school counselors and myself we go through. Uh our most recent update and training happened back in the fall so it's been very
fresh. Um and unfortunately we've had to use these procedures twice um since um our October training. Um but it's just really generic information really just to let you all know if you look at handout number one that we do have a crisis response team and we're prepared. Um 17 people are prepared to respond to assist the schools and whatever traumatic event may happen. And so that first hand out just gives you some ideas of typically less traumatic events, things that you know happen naturally all the way to the extreme, the intentional um events maybe caused by people or things that you can see there. on here. The main thing I wanted to show you here is that we use Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah.
Heat. Heat. Heat. >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat.
