the update um as I always say Obviously all those people that just left they didn't know maryell was coming up for the annual financial report I think they're coming back maryell I I think they told me they'd be back um anyway uh tomorrow we have have a great opportunity in this District to become a purple star candidate at Luke elementary school I know all of you are going to join us it's going to be a mar marvelous time there at Luke Elementary uh it will be the first purple star candidate school in the state of Arizona um so the transition with the military and the military students actually any students uh is very important and Luke gets to be that first uh school to partake in that so we are we are happy that's 9:30
tomorrow morning at Luke um and it'll be great so it'll be on uh dsb live too if you want to view it um or you can come join us that would be great uh just a little update uh for the governing board on our Shadow Ridge situation we have a few uh speakers last time on the roads uh with the unfortunate accident we had um at Shadow Ridge I have met with the mayor um and councilman Duffy and the Traffic Engineers uh they are working on a solution uh for Shadow Ridge uh there are many solutions they are looking at they have to have to work within their regulations um I have asked the Traffic Engineers uh to come out and help us study the flow of traffic at uh in and out the egress
of our campus to see if we can do something differently um with how people come in and out of our campus so uh just to give you the update that they are working on it they are aware of it um and finding some solutions so I just want to give you an update on that and last but not least um dard schools as You' seen coming up tonight we have partnered with the city of surprise uh for next year and and going to offer an emergency medical uh services and EMS program it will be at Valley Vista so our students will be able to uh be in this program and they can earn an emergency medical certified technici uh certification upon graduation so they can leave as EMTs we are very excited about this program
what an opportunity for our kids um we can't wait to get it started so great job to CTE thank you to City of surprise for the partnership and and it's going to be an awesome thing for our kids and with that that is all my updates for tonight thank you Dr croo we will move to the governing board update D2 let's see here um excuse me I attended the Canyon Ridge constitutional day and as usual it was fantastic and those kids do such an excellent job good luck to all of them in their poster contest I also attended the groundbreaking for the new city of surprise Public Safety and Recreation Complex so timing is perfect for the city to be looking at traffic flow because that's right across the street from Shadow Ridge High School
um but the diart students and families are definitely going to enjoy this new facility especially the swim teams uh once it's completed um I also visited vised uh Western Peaks and finally um October is um National pre uh principal month so just thank you to all the principls in the district you all do a wonderful job and you are truly appreciated that's it I also attended Western Peaks um School visit had a blast um um with the little kiddos one of my favorite moments was they were talking about standing in line for salt and pepper and we thought in the cafeteria and no it's a game that they play It's called salt and pepper so next time I'm out there I'm going to see if I can play the game with them so they were
really excited about it so that was like the highlight of the day um I also attended Shadow ridges um School visit today great thank you very much um for the camaraderie um great visit I met with parents teachers um students that campus is huge um that was the first time I'd ever been on it it's a it's it's a it looks like a college campus so um and then we got to we got to visit one of the CTE rooms they were they were building robots so that was that was really cool to see um I also attended the vaping um presentation on when last Wednesday and coming out of it I actually learned a lot I didn't know much about vaping um and one of the statistics that we we were told were the
Disposable Vapes um they have up to 5,000 Puffs and 5,000 Puffs equals 25 packs of cigarettes and the guy that was giving the presentation said a kid can go through one of those in a couple weeks so that was a stunning to me so um learned a lot and I want to thank the district for putting it on we had a great turnout thank you for all the parents that brought their kids also I brought my son so um we all learned a lot but thank you for the district for putting that on I also attended the Canyon Ridge Constitution Day and it's it's always so nice um I missed it last year but it just I feel like it gets bigger and bigger and better every year and you can tell that they put
so much hard work into it from the costumes to the memorization to just organizing everything so I just want to say thank you to Canyon Ridge for hosting that it was it's it's always a great event and Now we move we will move on to E1 and I will move to approve consent agenda items as presented second motion made by Crystal Chaffin seconded by Don denmore did you get up window okay I got the log back in button mine says log in but now I had to log out so hold on if you can take a verbal it's a yes or if you can wait I'll try to to vote okay I got kicked from the meeting okay I'm in now motion carries we we will move on to G1 Dr CTO thank you madam
president uh tonight we bring to you an update on our professional learning communities um and how they're going throughout the district and Dr asai will be presenting this to us tonight Dr asai good evening Madame President and members of the board it's my pleasure to present to you tonight on the progress with our professional learning communities I will refer to them throughout the presentation as our plcs just because that's our edu Babel for what we call them um while our results in daer have been going up we've seen progress in our test scores they're definitely not where we want them to be uh so I'm kind of centering this and some quotes from Dr Coto that in order to change our results we must change our design of the Learning System and in order to
accomplish this we must reset our focus on highly functioning professional learning communities we chose professional learning communities because we know they not only affect student achievement but also make teaching better through the collaboration all of us together are smarter than any one of us and that by creating a culture of Highly functioning collaborative teams that are driven by Student Success our design will change and produce the design Des ired results which would be highly proficient students proficient students who are ready for work College in life this list our PLC plan so we really started planning for PLC implementation last year and we started talking about going to the summer Institute in Las Vegas with all our principles and directors and we had board members that came too which was great because it all really got
us going in the same direction with a common vision of why is this why is this so important why is collaborative time in thinking students as our students so important as opposed to thinking of the 30 kids I service in my class or the 150 I see at the high school a day and how does that Collective efficacy work uh we also mixed in summer workshop where our teachers came and really examined our curriculum they looked at what is the what are the standards we want to teach in each unit how will we know they know it what did those tests look like and we redid some of the curriculum to produce better results and all of our teachers were involved and we I think we had an 83% turnout rate for that with our
teachers um so that was kind of the kickoff to our PLC plan when we got back in July we rolled this out to our diert leadership team which are all of our administrators and then we required each school to have a PLC rollout plan and I'll show you a sample of one of those in a minute but we know that each school has its own individual DNA and that it might not look the same anywhere so why there were some non-negotiables that we'll talk about we also wanted each school to work with the teachers they have we have some schools where where we have a brand new staff we have some that are more established that have been working in collaborative teams so we really wanted to work with the principles to customize their PLC
roll out we continue to Monitor and give feedback our directors and Educational Services go out um every Monday that we have plc's about and they observe plc's on the campus they go in and they sit on them uh s they sit in on the plc's with the principles and they provide feedback uh feedback to them on you know this is what the team's doing that's affect here are next steps for you uh we reflect on District success and site success and challenges I recently went out and did probably about eight focus groups with plc's with teachers talking to them about what's working with the process and what's not because we believe it's important to hear from the field uh we retach based on the data collected so we do have DT coming up um our
administrative meeting on October 18th I believe and we'll be going through some things that we need to refine with the PLC process that we think could be tweaked a little bit and then keep on further with further training and repeated Cycles we also I referred to the non-negotiables earlier and I just wanted to make sure that we we had these so we have to have norms and Norms seem so simple we come we come to our PLC our collaborative team meeting and we're prepared when we meet as a collaborative team that sounds easy but ultimately a teammate doesn't show up with data and it impacts the way we can function or somebody's late and our meeting's delayed 15 minutes and when we were at the conference this summer we heard one of the speakers say
if we can't hold each other accountable for Behavior how are we going to hold each other accountable for Student Success so we've really worked on principles giving teams feedback collaborative teams feedback on this is how you did with your Norms today you know I watched your PLC somebody came in late nobody addressed it you know let's address professionalism let's address those things so then we can have bigger conversations uh Collective commitments what are we going to do as a school what are our Collective commitments that every member of the school is going to do we commit maybe to calling home when kids are absent you know we commit to always looking at data to make decisions agendas in advance of our collaborative team meetings uh p uh collaborative teams are submitting agendas to their Administration
um they are providing them feedback on that sometimes we have a tendency to say okay it's Monday let's talk about our field trip but really that field trip doesn't have a place in the PLC process it's more of a team meeting so the administrator might say hey this is after your class collaborative team meeting it because this Falls outside the PLC process um school goals that we wanted all um all teachers really and all staff to be familiar with the board goals Dr coto's goals the school goals and then their PLC goals should be aligned to that and they should be smart goals PLC should be writing smart goals for each unit we're really getting there this next quarter that is part of our presentation on October 18th uh from there moving to Common assessments
we do have common unit Assessments in all of our core areas is uh but sometimes that four weeks until the unit assessment or six weeks we need more intermittent data so having teams come up with their common assessments we'll call them cfas common formative assessments and then all collaborative teams must must use data for our PLC roll out here I highlighted our administrator expectations for the PLC roll out so we expected all administrators to hold trainings uh for all teachers but especially the leads because just because I can teach great doesn't mean I can lead other adults uh so we are we did ask them to work specifically with their PLC leads to establish smart goals to create norms and work on holding people accountable for the Norms uh ongoing planning and training for plc's
uh we do expect administrators to attend PLC meetings that it's not a time for them to sit in their office when collaborative teams are meeting but administrator should be going around and asking asking teachers how can I support you you had you know offering ideas is you know did you take the test so you knew what was on the test did you might you do this intervention might you guys think on the Mondays of splitting kids up by standard and so we really want our administrators out there supporting our teachers uh providing feedback on Mondays to the plc's we also have a red yellow and green Continuum um and red yellow and green are not good or bad in fact all my new all my new collaborative teams are in the red because they're just
starting off together and I have we have aspects listed there's about eight different um tenants in each category and I might be red in one yellow in another maybe my use of data I at Green but in making some accommodations for my ESS kids maybe I'm red and we need to work on that together and we asked teams to set goals to work on that to move progressively on the Continuum throughout the year so that's what our rollout for administrators looked like and then each school also had their their own where are we now according to our focus groups and observations uh we do feel that there's a need to to make sure that all teachers understand that the fundamental purpose of a PLC is to increase student achievement while people understand that when we
went out in the field and asked some teachers were like well it's to collaborate and the purpose of a of a PLC structure is definitely to collaborate but the end goal is always to increase student achievement we're not collaborating it does I mean collaboration increases your teacher efficacy it it your climate your culture it's good to have collaboration but we do it for a reason and the end goal is increasing student achievement uh that teachers believe they do have more time for collaboration this year that made us happy because we tried to protect that time more and teachers in the field are telling us that it is protected uh we found out there's a variety of ways people are collaborating at our Middle Schools they're doing some vertical articulation where they look at how are
you teaching the science standard in fifth what does it progress progress to in sixth and seventh other others or horizontal plc's like nth grade ELA uh we found out not all plcs are to the point of collectively anal izing student assessment or work uh some of them are most of them are getting there but some of them are just to that planning stage of asking what is it we want them to do and how will we know they know it and they need to do a little more work around questions three and four after we take the assessment of what are we going to collectively do to respond now uh most plcs are using protocols which made my heartworm and fuzzy in fact I was at one school and they said I love the form
we fill out on Mondays and I looked like said can you repeat that I've never heard a teacher say they love f not a form um but they said the form really keeps them organized and on task and they feel feel their meetings this year are much more focused around what they need to be focused on uh the use of the PLC Continuum could be more prevalent some teams said hey we know exactly where we are on this Continuum and some teams go I kind of remember that from the beginning of the year but we haven't Revisited it uh there's a continued need for emphasis on backwards design I'm really looking at those unit test our unit tests are aligned to our benchmarks our benchmarks are aligned to deblea Essa um so for an example
there was a problem on a test with a triangle you had to reflect it across the xais and then it had to you had to actually join the triangle if you didn't join it with the lines it counted in incorrect so our teachers backwards planning and looking at that assessment to figure out okay I also need to teach this technology skill along with the standard it gets more complex as we test online and there may be a uh a need for more PLC lead training and how how do I work with adults how do I how do I address my teammate respectfully when they come in without being prepared how do I lead difficult conversations with my plc's so there's probably a need there so our next steps our next steps is we our oh
I'm so sorry our next steps include continued training for leadership can training continue training for sites identify and model plcs to scale practice recently we asked principles to identify Green P plc's that are mostly in the green maybe some yellow and green uh we want to go out and watch them and say okay you're calling saying this PLC is highly proficient we want to make sure we want to see because we'd like to do some kind of recognition program for model plc's to figure out how do we scale that how do I use the expertise here to affect other people on campus or other people across the district uh creating a PLC lead training that can be delivered either centrally are on campuses uh next steps include re-examining onboarding of new employees we've done a
a lot of work with plc's this year and sometimes when we bring people on it's just kind of like great go forth with third grade um but we need to figure out how do we catch them up in the work that's been done this year so they're not frustrated and they don't feel like they're behind or they don't not understand the process and finally we need to continue to provide j a job embedded time for collaborative teams to meet our Monday time is valued by our staff we s saw those results um last board meeting or a couple meetings ago where they said this time is valued uh and I think it's because we are doing what we need to do with it with allowing teachers to work on the work that matters that they're
going to be doing with students in the classroom and I will stand or sit for any questions as the case may be um I want to say thank you to Dr asai um I know you and Mr mcy have been working a lot on different focuses and academics and everything and um Dr you've really just cranking it out left and right so I just think thank you for your leadership and all of your hard work um there's a lot that we don't see so there it takes a lot to put this together so thank you um I do have a couple of questions um I also really like that for plc's it's it's an expectation that they have an agenda because a lot of times you can go into a PLC and you know Monday
morning you can think oh in PLC we need to do this we need this but then XY and Z happens and then by the time you get to PLC you're just like fried so I love the fact that you have agendas that okay because you know if you can do an effective PLC in 45 minutes that's a win for everybody agreed that's a win for everybody so and and it doesn't have to be this long drawn out horrible process so thank you for that um can you kind of elaborate what does the PLC look like for our special areas and electives so for our special areas and electives we started pulling them more they were meeting one time uh one time a month and based on the data that we gathered from our survey they
are now meeting two times a month which is nice they meet centrally um so band all meets together choir all meets together and they talk about okay what is it we're learning I think some of it they go into technique right now you know what's the best way to teach this and although it's not directly focused on one of the four questions I think it is essential when we're talking talking about what is it we want them to learn how will we know they know it by default we have to talk about how's the best and most expedient way to get them there thank you and then what does it look like for them when they're not meeting as a district so on their site on one of those days it's a teacher Choice day
uh so really they only have one Monday a month possibly with their site and that might be focused on site initiatives um a Canyon Ridge steam is an initiative stem and steam so it might be talking about those side initiatives it could be focused on best practice all of our campuses are digging into the dcer instructional protocol which also applies to it's kind of agnostic of any content so talking about best practices are objectives shared how are you getting feedback to students absolutely and are they are are they meeting together like are our at our high schools are the arts department or is it like the music teachers and the Arts teachers meeting together on those site days usually the dcer um the dcer protocol is done whole group and I think it looks different
on different sites really depending on how Administration structures it uh we do have good Channels with most of them going back and forth to n hey this is working or this isn't uh so I do feel like we've adjusted a couple times with specials you know I have some sites that say Hey you know I wna I want to be part of I'm trying to think um Ashton Ranch is doing reading informational text and they go I can embed that you know we read and so but other that might not be the way other campuses want to go I might have baby teachers that just need to focus on their content area which is fine too so I really with those site days I hate to tell you it's one way because I do think
it's specific to campus thank you I appreciate the honesty but I and you know we've had many conversations um in a study session and I just most of the time I ask questions you answer them well and I just ask them again for public but I just want to make sure that our special areas in our electives aren't getting farmed out to spend time in a PLC on things that have absolutely nothing to do with them I have not heard that at any of my focus groups going around okay uh you know we can definitely I we can bring that up when they meet with d okay uh because sometimes it's a safer you know it's a safe space with my Fine Arts director just to double check but that I don't think that's happening
okay as long as our electives and our special areas are meeting and focusing on their academic content I mean whatever that looks like for obviously working on t technique if you get the band teachers together and this guy's doing amazing and this guy's going how are you doing that I mean that's a great PLC but as long as we're not taking like PE and making them go into second grade or eth grade and work with them and analyze their data you know that's not a good use of our funds but if they're actually focusing on their content area whatever that looks like for them I think that's great yeah and we could all you know we could always do things like survey and stuff I would start with d and see you know are we
hearing anything like that and then from there the survey as long yes as long as we keep that and then one more quick question um how do we redirect or um how do we support some of our plc's that are read for a long time on a constant basis a continuous basis so I can I can give you a hypothetical answer for that because the Continuum is new to us right so I can't say anybody's been on red for a long time because it's new instrument right you know the expectation would be though I do have a dysfunctional PLC you have dysfunctional plc's Craig and I don't like each other at all we don't want to talk we don't even want to sit in the same room um I'm not going to lie that happens
it's rare but it happens you know in that case we would have an administrator kind of sit there and you don't have to like each in fact your PLC might go much faster if you don't like each other because you're not going to chitchat but you know with that the administrator can say okay let's run the agenda together because regardless of that we need to learn to collaborate on moving kids right so that might be an example if it's they continuously don't use data I have a campus that needed some support with that so Amy Harin is going about every other week to help them really look at their CFA data and other da data if it was ESS we would depend on one of the coordinators or Corey to go out and say okay
look you know your special education students who are identified at math continue to struggle we're not closing that Gap when we look at it so let's really focus on some scaffolds for math with your PLC so it would really depend on what area they're struggling in what supports we would Farm out right to make that work thank you so much we're not just looking at this PLC continues to be read for all year long and there's no growth we're not just going oh okay it's it's fine no the expectation would be that administrators uh either draw on the central office for support uh which were which I think they do really well you know or they're working with the PLC themselves you know if they've tried everything and need more support or if they're doing
multiple things then we do have the ability to support um but you know ultimately all the results lay at that principal level you know is the principal I was responsible for the results at my school and I know if I have a PLC that's in the red I'm not going to be getting my results so I'm going to work very hard to say okay which one of these are we struggling with and how can we move and also I think it's important to say okay what are we moving what's our goal this six weeks to move and what's our goal next six weeks to move because I can't give you multiple I can't give you five things to work on at one time that's also not fair right so we have to really identify the
Target and then move thank you um to miss chaffin's point about the um the specials and and elective teachers I'm curious how that would work for someone in a position that for instance teaches Spanish but also teaches choir or teaches band and also teaches science if they're a dual um dual use you know educator how do we support them in that are they required to go to multiple plc's or do they uh the majority yeah the majority of time this is a high school issue and we have a primary PLC this happens a lot even in English I'll be a member of the English one2 PLC and an member of the English 78 PLC uh and there's a couple ways to look at it um I could look at it by tested area if I'm
a site administrator I'm looking at it by tested area you're going to meet with your junior level PLC first because that's my tested area Okay um outside of that I would go with what do you have the majority of you know if you have two and four you're going to be a member of whatever you have four of right okay and I also just wanted to say that I really appreciate the what you what you mentioned about the horizontal and the vertical because it's so important that we can look ahead to see how are we supporting these students as they transition out of our classrooms and into the next and then also you know re the reverse of that so I really appreciate that you also mentioned um I'm not sure which bullet you mentioned
it in but you you mentioned having difficult conversations and maybe helping guide people with that I'm sure that that is happening and will happen sorry Craig um but with those leading those difficult conversations if you have two people that just maybe don't Jive how can you how can we support that I think that's where you have to have your TLS sit in the meetings you have to have the principal sit in the meetings and you know we're here with the bottom line of of students right getting along with my colleague is is a nice benefit yes um see Craig you aren't that bad um but getting along with my colle I mean you know it makes things harmonious uh but remember when we were at the at the conference this summer somebody talked about one
of their most productive and highest functioning plc's they actually didn't get along that well you know and they would go in they would take care of business and they would say hey just because I don't like you doesn't mean I'm not going to teach your kids because they're our kids so I think it's really the administr straighter working with that PLC with the concept that these are our our kids we're responsible for fourth graders at Countryside and so until you guys can do it on your own I am going to send somebody in to facilitate it'll either be myself my assistant principal my TLS uh to keep the peace because there's always two sides to everything and kind of be that neutral that neutral party that leads us through analyzing student data that's a neutral
thing you know setting goals and achieving them it's a neutral thing so we would try and have those conversations um you know and I think we're talking about three maybe 3% of the population but it happens maybe more uh but when it happens you know I think we have to address it and remind our teachers that we're professionals we have we have a job to do not everybody on the basketball team they might not like each other but they all have to work as a unit to achieve success right okay thank you so much I just have a quick question um when you said that not all plc's are basically utilizing and I know it's because you said we have might have some new employees or teachers that are just starting the program is do
we have a large amount that are pushing back on this also I don't think so um I think it's more you know this time of year um we kind of go in Cycles as teachers we start off really good and then we get a little overwhelmed in the end of the quarter I'm doing parent teacher conferences and you want me to meet in my PLC yeah um I do um you know and I think sometimes we see it as one more thing the more success we see with it um the easier that gets and the more we do it it becomes just our culture and the way we do things I think that Dr Coto was very had a lot of foresight when we started rolling this out and he goes we're going to go
very slow to go fast and I was like that's all we're doing quarter one you just want them doing Norms you just want them doing this and he goes Shelly we have to embed it into our culture it has to become who we are right and so you know and some of that is slow because people don't see that progress as fast but if we're building something to last um you know I think we do go slow with it and people might not be seeing the fruits of their labor yet from just doing those basic actions but as we build on it and then we get really good I could hold you to Norms so now I'm gonna hold you to why did your kids do so poorly on rl5 when mine did well you
know and how can I help you and I need you to accept my help or vice versa you know being able to say hey my kids didn't do well can you help me and tell me how you taught that that's really a vul vulnerable place as a teacher because every teacher comes in doing the best they can that day but sometimes things don't work I can do the same thing two years in a row it might work with one and not the other so I think the more we build build slowly to do that I think you know with that push back it's I'm not ready to let somebody else see into my classroom yet and the more we work together and see us moving forward as a unit it that will dissipate okay thank
you do long-term Subs have to participate in this and when I say longterm the ones that are there for months not yes the ones that are there for months because Mondays are part of their thing that is part of it okay thank you all right thank you so much thank you next we will move on to item G2 Dr croo thank you Madame President uh tonight we have the annual expenditure analysis on our M overrides so this is not uh do not confuse this with the bond and override committee that's going on this is a current report that is mandatory that we make to the governing board every year on our current M overrides so that's important that um we keep those two separated and and that so tonight Mary Dell gets to do this
report thank you Dr CTO Madam president uh members of the board Dr Coto cabinet Community tonight I have the information related to our m&o override um which is the voter approved initiative that provides the additional supports to our students and so obviously we want to take the opportunity also to thank our taxpayers because we know it is through their generosity and their support that we are able to provide these additional resources so we'll go over that tonight as mentioned this is a statutory requirement it's ARS 15481 so you are required to hold this public meeting between September 1st and October 31st and more than anything allows us also that opportunity to keep our community informed on really what those voter initiatives were and how the programs are that they approved how they're being utilized so
just a brief recap on how the override is in our district um we currently have the override in place that is 15% of our Revenue control limit so for fiscal year 23 we see that that was approximately $23.9 million that provided an additional support now maintenance and operations overrides are approved for a total of seven years however they are fully funded only for the first five and then if they are not approved for continuation then they start getting phased out in year six and then again in year seven until they're fully phased out so for dice are as we can see here on the table this override continuation was approved in November of 2020 and so right now in 2324 we're in our third year of the override um and so it's fully funded through
fiscal year 2526 and if not approved for continuation then we will start entering um the phasing out starting in the 26 27 school year so just a reminder of what the purpose of the override what it was approved for this was what was included in the voter pamphlets when it was originally um approved for continuation it does helped to support our ongoing programs as well as focusing on those expenses in those main areas that we see in there um and so we'll go over here in the next slide on how the override um expenses how they were supported in the various areas so for fiscal year 23 as mentioned the total override was for $23.9 million and so these are the four main areas that those expenses were broken down in supporting so about 2
and a half million was provided in um providing additional compensation funding for for our teachers the class siiz reduction amount accounted for about 10 million of the override and I know sometimes we get questions on the class siiz reduction um it's really to maintain the current levels that are in place because of the override knowing that if we didn't have the override in place we would actually see a class size increase because those teachers about $10 million worth are supported through the override um the reading and math supports those are positions such as ER interventionists coaches curriculum Specialists as well as the specials content areas of Music art and Athletics and those were about 8.8 million of the override amount and then we have our return to F day kindergarten knowing that the state funds
half day kindergarten so really the override picks up the remainder of of the um the full day kindergarten and so if we were to not have the override in place that's about 33 FTE and so that was about $2.3 six million so in total the the amount spent overall for the fiscal year amounted to the 23.9 million that we see there and so as noted this is a voter approved initiatives and so it's done through the secondary tax rate and so here's just a breakdown brief history of the last 9 years how the tax rate was um applied per $100 assess valuation and then really the amount of the funding of override that that provided and so we see down in 2223 fiscal year that's the $23.9 million and so again just a brief update
just on the update on our programs really what we're using the override for and so at this point I'd be happy to answer any questions thank you thank you maridell do we have questions comments thank you very much for putting this together very welcome thank you all right thank you very much we will move on to item G3 Dr Coto thank you madam president tonight we have two awesome schools soran Heights and Sunset Hills to present our CIP reports and Mr mcy will introduce them yes thank you madam president members of the board Dr Coto um our two schools tonight our first one we're going to hear from is the proud principal of Sonoran Heights Middle School Dustin Hammond all right Madame President members of the board cabinet I stand to you in front of
you tonight to share some information for you in relation to academic achievement uh El data and some uh I'm sorry some uh school goals to always strive for continuous Improvement and then also some action items to um work towards those goals the first piece of information here is related to aasa and AI data for the last three years and it also demonstrates the state average if you look across the ELA uh column here you're going to see an increase from the year 2020 2020 to 2021 across to last school year uh relatively going up about 8% you will see about a 1% dip from 2122 to 2223 uh however the um proficiency data is well over the state average uh in looking at the math data you're going to see a fluctuation there from 40%
to 48 down to 44 uh we are um working on some things and and focusing on some things in order to bring that back up uh a piece of that also is to also look at the state average and we're 14% over the state average with science we don't have any data for 2021 1 uh and then you'll look at 2122 at 35% roughly and then uh last school year uh a significant increase of 11% uh and 15% over the state average with the aella uh data here you're going to see when I look at it across the board I really see a significant fluctuation uh from each year and also from one year to the next and what I would like to mention here is um it's a when you put student totals to
it this year which isn't on this presentation we are at close to 20 students okay last year we were at 11 and so when you put a small number of students to the percentages up there those numbers of students almost probably articulate the percentage you know so you'll you're we're I feel like that's why we're seeing the roller coaster when you're looking across the board there um however we're not where we need to be with the with the data that's demonstrated up here on the presentation uh we're under the state proficiency percentage uh we need to be above that and then if you look focused at last last school Year's data 70% of our population uh in elel are in the pre-emergent and basic and we need to be better than that uh we're working
very closely with the federal projects department and uh we're um focusing on our integrated and our targeted instruction uh for those students uh this year uh our numbers are at 20 last year they were at 11 and so 50% of our population is in fifth grade it's in one grade level and uh we are paying close attention to that through the intervention process and things here's our goals for sort Heights this school year I like to point out that we really attempt an align to our superintendent goals which are aligned to your goals as a governing board uh we have three targeted areas academics professional learning communities and student engagement our academic achievement goal we're looking to increase by 5% or achieve 70% Proficiency in in all grade levels and subject areas Ela and math
in our professional Learning Community goal 100% of our teachers will implement the PLC protocol as Guided by D Unified School school district and sonor Heights and and achieve in the yellow category you guys earlier were mentioning what do we do if we're in red well that's part of my job is to get us out of the red and my goal is to not have any of our PLC content teams uh in red at the end of this year student engagement goal um you know something that I learned in working with Dr Cotto several years ago is that there's research that supports when students are engaged on campus their academics their attendance and and their behavior also increase and so we felt it valuable to incorporate the student engagement goal uh when you're reading it there
it's pretty lengthy uh however ultimately what we're looking at doing is um focusing on our Student Activities our student referrals and our student attendance those three components will increase or should increase our engagement of our students on our campus which in turn should naturally then benefit our academic achievement their attendance and um uh Behavior as well we have action plans for those three goals uh the academic the professional learning and the student engagement goals and I'm going to go through each of those for you guys real quick our academic achievement goal action items are going to be supporting teaching and focusing on all of our students and the instructional process utilizing the district adopted curriculum and the scope and sequence that's supported by by uh Dr asai uh team we're going to regularly review data
and Benchmark data to focus on instructional practices and instructional interventions to support key areas of intervention areas of focus and also extension for the students that may already demonstrate that they've learned it uh small group instruction is going to be uh utilized uh in every class period that's our intent that's our goal uh and also through the intervention process uh implementation of student data tracking systems they're actually being used tonight at our at our parent teacher conferences and some of our grade levels where our teachers are utilizing what they've Incorporated with our students in student goal setting student Data Tracking and then presenting that utilizing that information to share with their families uh ongoing data collaborations with our content teams with our TLS and with our site Administration will be is in place in practice
uh with our district um Comm informative assessments and also our p C team cfas and then uh utilizing ongoing professional development for instructional strategies focusing on always striving to achieve higher our professional Learning Community goal action items are going to be engaging with PLC professional development um instruction for our teams one thing that's recently taken place is I believe you guys have been shared that our federal projects department has um been awarded a grant to work with solution tree and we are one of those campuses that is uh working with solution Tree in some upcoming professional development um days on and we met today uh with some of the solution tree people and I look forward to meeting with who will be identified as our coach in the very near future to be begin collaborating
with that individual and providing ongoing training focused on the PLC process uh we have established PLC implementation goals mentioned earlier uh uh that Dr SII said and um we have a site specific implementation goal quarterly that we are looking to achieve um with that actually today I sent out a survey to our PLC teams for uh them individually to provide me feedback to see where they feel like they are at and with that data we're going to be looking at implementing some additional supports uh and trainings with that information the student engagement goal uh I kind of mentioned some of these things already uh however we're going to be monitoring the absenteeism and referral reports communicate with our families in order to decrease our uh attendance concerns specifically for Sor Heights and also uh student
behaviors uh we're going to be communic uh communicating the importance of good attendance we have implemented a program along with our SRO officer karowski um a program that we call Heart of the hawk and the there's components to the heart of the hawk that are very aligned to student engagement uh and we have monthly advisory class winners uh that are demonstrating um that they're doing well with those components to the heart of the hawk and then always looking to incorporate additional students engage sorry engaging additional students uh on campus beyond the current programs that we have um that are being offered at soran Heights we're looking at we're reaching out to our our team and and uh asking them if they have any passions that they would like to share with our students and consider
um incorporating additional clubs uh to maybe reach and reach out to students that might not see something that is currently available on our site and engage in those clubs and uh I'm proud to say right now we since the start of the school year we are working on three um additional clubs for students to participate in and I am so proud of our staff that um are taking the initiative to provide those opportunities for our kids uh with that I stand for questions thank you very much do we have questions I'm not sure if I heard you correctly did you say that 50% of your population is in fifth grade so you're referring to e thank you yes gosh I'm like how is that possible okay yes 50% of our e population now that's a
rough number but that's pretty close Okay is in fifth grade so 10 of them are in fifth grade the other 10 are sixth through eth per thank you okay that was my only question but I really appreciate this presentation yeah we need a lot of fifth grade teachers at 50% of our right right I'm thinking wow okay since sorry since focusing on attendance do you see a a drop in um unexcused absences when you mentioned the word drop are you referring to an improvement in yeah I me kids are in yeah less more kids are in the classroom yes ma'am uh currently data supports that there uh attendance is improving at snor Heights great yeah um I have a question regarding the behavior how I'm not even sure um if you would even know this
but how much of the day or time in the classroom is the teacher directing their attention towards the behavioral issues in class you know that yeah in the classroom yeah that's that's probably a tough uh data component to be able to stand and answer right now I would want I would request getting some of the information from our teachers um what I would like to share with you though is uh our teachers really focus on student relationships and with those relationships naturally hope that the behavior management is going to naturally decline also the activities and the engagement strategies that the teachers are using should should minimize Behavior good um with that being said though there's there's behaviors that occur right I mean it's not just a Sor Heights thing it's it's across all educational programming
um uh but when you build relationships with kids and you focus on engaging kids and bell-to-bell instruction then uh we should naturally see engage uh behavior management decline okay thank you so I don't feel like I answered your question though no it's I just noticed with going to the the School visits um it's brought up a lot so I was just wondering if you knew yeah thank you thank you so much I appreciate it thank you Mr Hammond our next presentation will be coming from Joey Toki and she is the outstanding principal of Sunset Hills Elementary all right thank you so much Madame President members of the board superintendent cow cabinet and Community I'm so excited to be here tonight to share a little bit about Sunset Hills um with you and kind of where
we have been and where we're going um all right so what you'll see right here is our aasa and a side data um you'll see in um Ela and math we are above the state average in both of those areas but we did see a slight decline from um in 2022 2023 as compared to 2122 um saw a little bit of a decrease there in both math and reading um the goal in those two areas really is to recover um from the loss that we saw and in addition to that grow um so that we are showing that growth and recouping where uh what we had lost um the goal is to achieve 60% Proficiency in ela and 50% proficiency and math in AI we continue to see in increases um over the last couple
of years that our student students have taken the AI and we are above the state average as well here is our aella assessment data last year we tested a total of 23 students um using the aella assessment what I want you to notice is in 2021 our intermediate scores um the the the number of students we had in intermediate was 47.06% in looking at the 2122 school year we moved those students that were in that intermediate to proficient so that was up to 42% um in 2122 and then so you'll see that we did our Proficiency in 2223 was lower um it was 8.70 for the proficiency but I want to draw your attention to the fact that we move students and we have 39.13% that are sitting in that intermediate category um this year
we have 20 total students at this time our goal U we pinpointed seven students that we know that we will be able to move from intermediate to proficient so we anticipate seeing that uh go that percentage go back up in terms of proficiency there so all right here are our CIP and I AP goals um our first goal is the academic goal I reviewed the math and the ELA we're looking at 50% of our students achieving Proficiency in math a minimum of 50% uh a minimum of 60% of students achieving a Proficiency in ela and we want to reduce our minimally proficient by 5% % and last school year that was sitting at 31% so we definitely want to decrease that um additionally we want to see our uh for fifth grade 60% of our
students show proficiency on AI and we want to see 54% of our students show proficiency um in eighth grade on a side that's showing that continuous growth with that assessment um our culture goal uh this one is is huge um they're they're all very important clearly but um we know that we need our students to be in school in order for them to learn and in order for our teachers to be able to teach them so uh attendance is definitely a focus of ours um we're looking at targeting that chronic absent The Chronic absenteeism uh defined as 18 days or more that the students have missed um we're looking to bring that down from 29% to 19% this school year last we have our safety goal um our safety goal is really about our schoolwide
system of Behavior Support um what we're looking to do here is just ensure that our teachers are continuing to implement our schoolwide Behavior system system and as a result of that we want to see a decrease in the areas of defiance and disrespect and physical aggression reducing those by 10% so when it comes to goal a our action plan truly our plcs are the driving force uh behind our goal a that academic piece um we're working to strengthen our PL plc's and to kind of refin our processes in terms of our professional learning communities through professional development that includes feedback that we do give to teachers um and teams I should say collaborative teams on uh when when they are engaging in their plc's we have provided professional development that's differentiated we break our teachers
up into groups we have a K2 group a 34 group and a 58 group um that gives us an opportunity as an administrative team along with our teaching and learning specialist to be able to provide that professional development and differentiate it for uh the different needs truly at those grade level bands um so our Focus really is about uh using that backwards design model in uh design planning in uh our plc starting with truly the teachers taking the test they have to take that test they have to see what are the skills that the students need to know and be able to do and truly if we're digging into that test ourselves we're able to identify that um with that then they plan instruction and they design uh common formative assessments when they're planning that
instruction um they're looking at embedding the elements and the attributes from the daart instructional protocol um and truly often te oftentimes teams look at those um protoc or the um elements and attributes and determine what is going to move our students what's our goal are we going to use academic conversation student engagement obviously all of those are important in lessons um but they try to target areas that they can commonly talk together and plan together and ensure that they're implementing in the classroom um additionally um with the planning piece with those common formative assessments that they're designing um we've provided professional development on our data protocols so that our teachers are able to look at their data review it um determine what the data is telling us what is it not telling us what are
the celebrations in the data what are our common challenges that we're seeing that our students are are facing and is being shown by the data our key con key conclusions and then setting teaching and learning goals um so making sure that there's a teaching component obviously and what we're focused on is going to impact our learning in a positive way all right attendance as I said with our students not not present they can't learn um so this is absolutely key key as well to all of our goal areas um we did improve our attendance uh last year as compared to the previous year however we're not satisfied with where we're at in terms of our chronic absenteeism rate um so we are very focused on attendance we ATT um we um sorry excuse me we
track attendance um both daily and weekly um we've uh sent communication out to our parents at the 5ay 10day if our students are missing 5 days and 10 days that's a phone call but it's also a letter informing them of where they're at at that 10day Mark if our students have met that 10 day if they've been absent for 10 days and we are setting up in-person meetings with our families um with the students and if we're able to set those up including the teacher we're looking to uh set up support plans and academic plans we want to show that correlation to that if you're not here it truly does impact our academics um with that if um we wind up getting to that 15-day Mark or more we would be setting up an additional
meeting to review that academic support plan that we put put in place and um see what needs to happen next and at times that may be having conversations about retention depending on the situation um so we're always very transparent about kind of what that process looks like through the year with the goal of um ensuring that um our our students are there we have seen a decrease from last year to this year um in terms of um we we see an increase in attendance um not a drop a drop in the the rates you know we see an increase so we're we're happy with what we're seeing so far we just want to be able to maintain continue that but uh it truly takes a collective effort um and bringing those families in has really
started to make a difference we're seeing it already um for our goal c um expectations REM remain high in terms of safety as a whole at Sunset Hills um a part of this is truly through our schoolwide system of support our Roar expectations we call them um our students show respect ownership achievement and responsibility um the focus really is on our teachers teaching lessons aligned to those in the different settings in our classroom so we are having that um common um expectation that common vocabulary how we're addressing those behaviors and what that should look like what do we want those behaviors to look like um so our teachers do teach those um we also are really looking at that data the discipline data that we receive in terms of where are things happening what is
happening um what areas do we need to Target um but also what students are showing greater need for intervention or support as well as part of that support we are in the process of establishing a Bob Bobcat Mentor program um on our campus where we every staff member will have a student that they will be a bobcat mentor to um we are establishing this with our cabinet and our staff as far as what will that look like and sound like we want to make sure we have Buy in from our teachers um and true supports for our students with the hopes that um it will support all areas of our continuous Improvement plan so with that I will stand for questions thank you very much I really appreciate all of our principles and your focus
on really reducing that absenteeism it's just it's great when they come to school you know it's wonderful it's it's it's just it's nice but it is a struggle when it becomes kind of a culture like when it becomes okay that they don't come to school then it's it's hard to get them back so I just want to say I appreciate all of our principles and thank you for working really hard to get them back in absolutely and it gives us opportunities too to um you know if if families are in need or something you know what is causing these absences to have those conversations and sometimes things come out of that where we're able to provide supports to help get the students to school so um the again those inperson meetings are are instrumental in
this so thank you I really like the the Bobcat Mentor yes um program that you're implementing so when they become a mentor is it throughout the whole school year or is it just a quarter how how long great question sorry um we hope for it to be consistent through the school year um and the teachers have identified um students in their grade level um that require that are showing a need I should say for a Bobcat mentor and from there we will um determine where those students are how they're linked into or linked with a teacher and then again what those expectations look like for our staff you know it may be a check-in a weekly check-in a bi-weekly check-in to discuss academics behaviors goals things like that it could just be that that student
needs a safe place to go for a few minutes and that's their safe place to go and it's not punitive it's that relationship that's being built between the teacher and the the student so great job thank you can I give a shout out to um my assistant principal Miss bonds and my TLS Mrs Older um truly this would not be possible without them and our entire staff so thank you thank you thank you thank you very much next we will move on to the real reason we are all here this evening the main event we've got our popcorn oh boy and our Big Gulp and our big giant box of candy all right we'll move on to H1 Dr croo thank you Madame President you are right we are at the grand finale of the
evening um the annual financial report um the debut of Miss spadel so um meridell the floor is yours thank you Dr crto wow what a introduction um it really is the grand day or the you know the grand finale of our 2223 fiscal year I say this as we actually had our Auditors on site this week with that who are reviewing our annual financial information so to have this all in the same week is just oh boy it's it's been a great week so um but I did prior to starting I really did want to take the opportunity to thank a huge thanks to our finance department as always who really just are doing all the number crunching and putting everything together and so I want to recognize Miss Francy wolf Balman who's now our
Director of Finance overseeing anaz amazing team and really the budget team huge shout out to them we actually the big school level financial report which is now um a part of this as well it was released by the state uh Friday afternoon and that has to be a part of this package to be approved by the board and so our budget team work tirelessly to get that completed in time so um really a big a big thank you to them so with that we can get started so the annual financial report it is um a compilation of all of our financial activity it really gathers all of the revenue expenses transactions of every single fiscal or every U fund that the district has for the 2223 fiscal year so it is required to be provided
to the governing board by October 15th and then we submit it to the state by that deadline um once we review it by to the state it then goes through an intensive review process by various agencies um we know and we'll go over a little bit later the auditor general uses it for their classroom spending report they ensure that we haven't overspent any of our budgeted funds and then really um others also start using it to develop our ual comprehensive Financial reports and so this is just really the the first start to a lot of varying purpose that this report is widely used for so with that we'll go over our largest fund which is our maintenance and operations fund um that budget overall for fiscal year 23 was $18.8 million and this fund um
as mentioned it is our operation so it funds all the non Capital expenses um such as salaries and benefits it pays for our purchase Services supplies utilities and just general operational expenses um so here we see the breakdown by the various program areas about 69% is spent in regular education um a quarter of the budget is spent in special education from our maintenance and operations fund about 6% for transportation and we do receive a portion um related to K3 uh reading program so about a half a percent is spent in that area and so overall of the 188.000 budget we spent about 181 um leaving about a 7.7 million doll budget balance so that really represents about 4% um in previous years we used to actually be capped to school districts at a 4% so
we've always really maintained that um really that continued approach of ensuring we spend what we need to spend and support our expenses for the fiscal year while also making sure we leave a fiscally conservative amount for reserves and so we've continued doing that in this fiscal year then we go into our Capital funds the the largest one is really in our um unrestricted Capital which is our state funded District additional assistance fund um this had 18.45 million of a budget with 14 million of expenses so it left about a carryover of 4.4 million to continue to support um capital projects that are in place um we actually had much of that carry forward of the 4.4 had already been committed to expenses in fiscal year 23 but those items just didn't arrive by June 30th
which if they don't arrive we then have to create new purchase orders in the next fiscal year so a large portion of that rollover had already been committed to finalize those those projects from the previous year Debt Service that amount fully represents the payoff amount for the bond um the bond payments for the fiscal year about 17 million and then the emergency building renewal Grant I know we talk a lot about this this is the funding that where we apply for applications for Grant programs through the school facilities Division and so we were approved for about $14.7 million in projects sometimes due to timing they're not able to complete them all and so we were um we spent 7.8 million but those projects that had already been approved we continue to see those get completed
in this current fiscal year and then we have our classroom site fund it had a $31 million budget with about 14.1 in actual expenditures and so this uh fund does have statutory restrictions on what it can be used for it can be used um solely to support certified um staff um for eligible certified staff and so as a district we have increased the payouts to our staff over the last few years um and so we want to sure we're um maximizing those funds and so I know we've been looking at programs and other supports that we can put in place um to ensure that we can meet those in a compliant manner because there are a lot of statutory restrictions on this fund as well but it's something that we are looking at discussing and
seeing how we can continue to use that budget capacity and then this one is our special projects funds primarily our federal grants state grants and then other cash funds so really as we look and focus at the federal grants that had 53 .7 million in budget um and then expenses of 34.3 so the largest balance of that of the 19.5 million was related to Esser funds so I know we've had a lot of conversations with Esser funds and it's been a multi-year process and actually fiscal year 23 24 that we're in is the final year of our Sr funding and so really any of the residual amounts left in that are required to be spent in this year so we'd expect that for next for you know the very the next year we're going to
see that amount go down substantially but it has provided significant supports that we now have to determine what are we going to do moving forward without that influx of funding and then just a couple of other areas to highlight on our AFR we do show our bonds outstanding I know we've had a previous in the study session just kind of going over the bonds that we have as a district so we did start off with a 83.5 s we paid those a portion of those off and so at June 30th we remain with 69.4 u million in bonds uh we didn't have any short-term debt as a district and then we also just point out um the other Financial considerations it's a part of our District's goals it's our goal D of just identifying and
maximizing our available resources and so our um Finance team does a good job of just going through and working with um what are called Electronics funds transfer program to set up vendors to receive those electronic payments and actually we get a rebate as a district on those it's a little additional work on our part but it actually provides an additional source of funds that we can use to support other programs and then we have our estimated classroom spending so as I mentioned previously agencies when they review our information they then provide um an analysis of of it in different formats and so the Arizona auditor general they use it to comply uh to compile the estimated classroom spending report or a classroom spending report so for fiscal year 23 um the report from them usually
comes out in late January but again our finance department does a great job of doing um some estimates and so they have been spot on with these projections in the past and again I do want to do a special Shout shout out to Lisa Smith our accounting coordinator who has you know I don't I don't want to reveal our secrets but we've been spot on on on things that usually take months to come out later so our I expect our FY 23 amounts that we have up there um to be accurate when the when the report comes out in in the early year and so we have the largest expenses there in our instructional function 56.6 5% what the state does though in the last few years they've started combining what's called classroom spending versus
non-classroom spending so they combine the instruction so I kind of showed the difference there between the two groups what's the instruction the student support function and any other instructional supports for our students and so they combine those and aggregate to say what's the classroom spending so we estimate our classroom spending for this fiscal year that just finished to be 72.2% very similar in line with what we had for last year um and then the non-classroom spending amount to be that 27.8 so again pretty comparable to we had in the prior fiscal year um and actually kind of pretty comparable when we look at the prior fiscal year for our PE districts which are um districts that the auditor general has put in our similar category for whether it's the same size or similar makeup structure
so they usually look at us and and compare us to Pure districts that that um look the same um but to note in comparison to the fy22 state average we are well above the classroom spending amount of 69.6 and we're below their non-classroom spending amount of they had 30% and we have the 27.8 so these are just a general estimate for us to be able to look at this and say where are we putting the majority of our dollars in and so it's good to know we have you know 70 plus% that we're putting into the classroom um and then other um supports and then as mentioned the purpose of the AFR is to provide that Financial transparency to our community to show how our taxpayer dollars are used um it is included on the
Arizona Department of education's website so once this is approved then we'll be posting our 23 AFR um with a link that will take you to the Ada web page but as always we have our um budget page here with with all of our annual Financial reports that provide five years um look back at our previous afrs as well as our budgets and annual comprehensive Financial reports and so um lot of information out there we are a very transparent agency I know school districts provide a lot of transparency and so the information is out there if if for whoever wants to view it and um so with that I will stand for any questions thank you so much I just have a few um questions maybe just definitions so for somebody who's not familiar with the
process can you kind of Define or differentiate between M classroom site fund and unrestricted Capital can you kind of say differentiate between the three and give examples sure so um so our emo so when we receive a a district funding from the state we then are able to then separate between M which is our maintenance and operations that is intended to support support the general operations um which I mentioned so that will include your salaries and benefits um it'll include any non- Capital non-tangible non-durable items so for example then Capital um we receive funding from the state as well and so those Capital items are what's used to support more of those long-term items that last for multiple years so that's what we would buy computers from technology Furniture equipment buses um improvements to buildings
and just long-term it so as a district we do have um funding requirements it's in the usfr chart of accounts that where every fund comes with statutory guidance on what's allowed and not allowed to be used for so once as a district we approve the budget the governing board approves the budget once the budget set and says this is how much is going to be approved in M this is how much is in capital the money stay in that area and that's how they have to be spent um and so they have to follow those the the funding requirements and the laws that go with it it the classroom site fund that is an additional fund that we receive um revenue for and specifically that is intended to be provided for certified eligible um um
teachers as well as to provide additional supports instructional support student support and so we can't for example um there is a requirement where we have to supplement Nota plant I can't now say I received this additional classroom site money so instead of paying my teachers what I should pay out out of M I'm now going to do it entirely out of the classroom site fund I can't do that I have to say I already had this committed in M how am I going to supplement that now out of the classroom site fund um and so that's a lot of the requirements that come with many of our federal and state grants they are intended to be above and beyond as a supplementary funding source to what is a district we're already required to provide um
and so that's why when we look at the classroom site fund that one's an interesting one because the revenue that comes in the amount that we receive it on a per student basis and we've seen fluctuations to that Revenue a few years ago we received about $400 per student the last couple years we've gone up to almost $730 per student but the problem is that's depending on sales tax revenues that are coming as a state so it's very difficult to fully commit to that fund when you don't know what the you know tax revenues may do and so um it's just being strategic and and and ensure that we're using the funds appropriately um but really maximizing what we have so hopefully that provides a little bit more insight it does thank you great um
just clarification you did the presentation on the override the 23 million of the override is a totally another separate pot it's not included in this 188 million or anything like that it is actually yes so in the 88 million essentially you take away $23.8 million off of it and so without an override in place we would now be looking at about you know 160 that's what I wanted to clarify the override money is included in included in that amount yes8 million that is correct okay thank you you're welcome just a point of clarification around the Esser funding that will be ending or has ended um is that the fully budgeted 53 million and 34 million in expenditures or is it just a portion of that that is a portion of that of those funds so
the federal and state grants on the AFR which is the longer um report that I we previously provided you'll find in there the other federal grants that make that up which includes Title One grants it includes our special education grants um but the the bulk of that is the Esser funds okay and you also mentioned with the Esser funding going away that some of the positions that we're currently funding with Esser um we would need to make decisions on those can you give us some examples of what those positions are F or what that funding is is for sure um so we do have a quite a few number of positions and Personnel Services that were supported through Esser so for example we were able to fund what are called permanent a permanent guest teacher
essentially on on all of our campuses and actually two per high school campus so that's a resource that was used um we also paid for our um social workers are funded through the eser program um with all of the influx of funding for technology we actually um then brought on four technology Specialists to help support our school sites in ensuring that their technology set up and maintained and and um and supported we had um we have a network technician um as well supported through that that was uh funded through Esser um we have our um thank you like they're in my mind our student support technicians those were 20 positions that are have been put at all of our K8 sites to help support with student management and I believe that captures all of those
thank you and then we do have one behavior analyst that is funded as well through this program perfect thank you so much you're welcome any more questions all right thank you so much I move to approve the annual financial report and related Financial reports for fiscal year 2223 second motion made by Crystal Chaffin seconded by Don denmore motion carries motion carries thank you I was like yeah yeah it carries all right next we will move on to i1 do we have any requests for future agenda items nope okay I move that we adjourn motion made by Crystal Chapin seconded by Joe Grant yay okay sure you don't want this you're HBY I don't know you're doing great Brenda go sor we areour thank you
