to move on to H one policy governance board monitoring adopted policy section 10 student section 10 point zero through ten point three for dr. Kellis Thank You mr. president members of the board mr. croto will introduce this item thank you dr. callous mr. president members of the board superintendent callous and cabinet tonight we continue on with monitoring our adopted policy as you said earlier sections ten point O through ten point three port three four and there are no changes to these sections thank you are there any questions just one quick one directors to mr. croto 10.9 has to do the section about the two students per school as far as a foreign exchange student are we keeping that as two and what's the reason for keeping it as two mr. president members sourcing bill this

is a question that every district grapples with as there are always more foreign exchange student requests them then there are opportunities to just ask five those requests it's probably not publicly known or or widely known that every time we have a foreign exchange student it's a great opportunity for those students to have an extraordinary experience in a public school here in in our district and one of our fine high schools there are no revenue streams to be able to provide that education for the student it's basically a freebie for for anybody who participates and doing that which we grant absolutely wholeheartedly willingly so that we can provide that experience but the decision to cap it at two is one there's a lot of extra effort from each school that goes into making sure that they

have as many opportunities to variants life as a high school student whether it's in different clubs organizations recognitions shadowing they the schools that go above and beyond to make sure it's a good experience and then secondly not as important but also a factor is that there is no funding for those students that that we give so for that reason many districts throughout the state have capped it at two and we could always go three but then we could say why not go for and then it's just kind of a one of those you have to stop it at some point and we set it at two any other questions all right we'll go ahead and move on to age to information on 2019 2020 k12 academic data dr. kaylis mr. president members of the board

its administration recommends that we table this item and bring it back at the next regular board meeting in April thank you any questions on that all right table that h3 information on the not my kid program dr. kaylis Thank You mr. president members of the board this evening mr. Dean will present information on this item which was board members request good evening mr. president members the governing board dr. calcium members of cabinet is my pleasure this evening to present information to the board related to resources and programs provided by the organization not my kid so not my kid thank you very much wish for a pizza wish for a pizza not my kid is an organization that offers online resources to parents and students on a variety of topics some of which are the topics

that you can see on this slide drug abuse alcohol abuse building relationships body image depression and Internet safety not my kid offers also offers informational parent workshops and teacher professional training on the topics that are listed on the screen which coincide with those that we discussed on the last slide or that we presented quickly on the last slide one of the things that they that they offer that I'll highlight here as well is drug trend updates and you know we continue to get a lot of questions even today even with all of the information that we provided to parents in the the summit that miss winter Stein provided last year which was so successful on vaping and vaping concerns as well regarding youth presentations not my kid offers schools opportunities for assemblies and classroom workshops

on the same topics their program follows the imb our peer-to-peer model information motivation behavior skills and resources and the presentations teach on a wide variety of coping skills and healthy activities for youth not my kid is an organization again that provides resources on the items that we talked about a lot of social opportunities for our students and parents and that is the information we have to provide this evening we'd be happy to answer any questions related to not my kid or any other things that we could assist with this evening great thank you questions I think it sounds like a great program I'm just wondering are we going to be utilizing this and Dysart or what was the mr. president member Pritchard we are providing the information that at the request of a governing board

member to present what not my kid has available as a resource for schools and school systems so our schools are going to be incorporating this mr. president they were Pritchard currently we do not have this as an adopted curriculum in the district it is a program that's out there in the past Dysart has used this program or elements of this program for parent forums [Music] basically we said here's the topic for this night and publicized any parents who wanted to receive the information came to receive the information it has not been adopted or presented in the classrooms to this point as mr. Dean said this was information that was requested and we were just providing for the information of the board I was the one that had requested this and in light of our time

frame that we need to get through I could table it I would I don't mind tabling it it's just I would like miss winter Stein's information or feedback on this because she's the one that would be dealing with something like this so in light of time frame if we could table it that would be fine mr. president sir I think bill would be happy to bring it back where if the board like to have further conversation about it I'd appreciate and get feedback from staff would be happy to do that thank you okay so we'll go ahead and put that back on the agenda item thank you all right we'll go ahead and move on to action discussion items i1 revisions of policy seven point two five seven point two six and seven point two

eight second read dr. Kellis Thank You mr. president members of the board members of cabinet mr. croto will introduce this item thank you dr. Callas mr. president members of the board superintendent Callas and cabinet tonight we do the second reader of seven two five seven two six seven two eight which is our leave policies this is language in in conjunction with our attorney that need to be changed to make our leave policies in line with the regulations so there are no changes from the first read I'll stand for questions thank you any questions yes I was since I was late for last week's meet last week the last meeting and this was the first read back then so I did I did have a couple of questions on 7.25 I believe it was section number

four the abandonment of jobs if someone does not show up after three days just curious how many notices or times do we contact somebody mr. president members source Inc bill we contact them a few ways obviously the school spends time contacting we send the emails we personally give a phone call to them so they are contacted multiple times before we proceed with the job abandonment so there's several opportunities this is not a surprise to them that they're not showing up or that we're not trying to make contact in multiple avenues okay and 7.28 believable was patient number three the eligibility that had to do with the pay status did we add the earned paid sick leave as a youth we have the hold on I'll go back sorry what section are you looking at 7.28

and this on page three and it was under the eligibility c and then eligibility pay status to says FMLA will be unpaid unless the employee elects to and is approved for the use of any accumulated sick leave or discretionary leave are we including earn paid sick leave in in that mix mr. president we are and that falls in line with federal law so the attorney made those changes that we have to put that phrase in there for the federal FMLA right but would we add earned paid sick leave or is that considered the discretionary lead that would be any cumulated sickness oh okay I believe it falls into that category okay all right and those were my two the other any other questions all right I'll make a motion to approve the revisions to the

governing board policies seven point two five seven point two six and seven point two eight is I've done it in the second read second motion made by J Leonard seconded by Tracy sore your sync bill please vote motion passes thank you go ahead and action discussion item I chew recommendation for approval of child care facilitator position for the community education department dr. kaylis Thank You mr. president members of the board and members of cabinet mr. Dean will present this item mr. president members of the governing board out to calais and members of cabinet this evening cabinet is recommending the creation of child care facilitator program for community education this position is funded out of community education funds and not out of district to M&O the intent of this position is to align our childcare positions

to be similar across community education this position currently exists for our growing minds preschool and we would like it to also be a part of our den Club before and after school programs the intent of the position is that over the course of time that this position would eliminate most of the assistant childcare facilitators that are in the den club program now and so again this is a community ed funded position not District M&O and it does align all of our before and after school programs and preschool programs in line with the same positions thank you any discussion on this all motion approved the childcare facilitator position for the community education department has presented second motion made by J Leonard secondly by Tracy source Inc Bell please vote motion passes thank you we're gonna move

on to action item discussion I three recommendation to approve the 2020 2021 governing board meeting schedule and the 2020 2021 policy monitoring cycle dr. Kellis Thank You mr. president members of the Board of members of cabinet there are two items here that are presented to the board for approval the first one is the regular board meeting scheduled this is brought to the board each year this document is consistent with this year's calendar we have looked at key dates throughout the year and try to make sure that things like Wednesday before Thanksgiving or before winter break or spring holiday any of those that may have created undue conflicts and we're addressed so that's the one document and again it's consistent with this year's that does not preclude any special study sessions or any other additional regular

means that can be added if the board chooses the next document is the policy monitoring cycle it is I believe valuable for the board to continually review the governing board policy and this calendar allows administration to to do this on a regular basis so that it doesn't just become a dusty document on a shelf but it's an active living document and you have to answer any questions about either one of these two items great thank you I concur with you on let's not get any dust on that policy manual we need to review that any other discussion all right I had to entertain a motion I mean with the governing board approved the 2020 through 2021 governing board meeting scheduled in the 2020 20 through 2021 policy monitoring cycle I'll second motion made by Jen

tenor motion are seconded by Jay Larry please vote motion passes thank you we'll move on to I action discussion item I for discussion and possible action on schedule a workshop or study session dr. Kellis Thank You mr. president members of the board and members of cabinet this is another one of those opportunities is I just mentioned where the board can schedule a special study session administration would request a special meeting of the board to study two topics one of those being administration's plan to plan for middle schools and the other is and some information and discussion about some possible high school structural opportunities that we would like to pursue so these are just two topics they're very visionary helping administration and the board come together to have dialogue about about these two items and to

get some direction from the governing board before we go too far down this road so we are requesting if you look at your calendars it's the Wednesday after Spring Break there is no regularly scheduled board meeting for the rest of the month of March and this would be a study session from six to eight on that date okay I actually have a conflict but could attend by phone anybody else good all right I'll motion to schedule a workshop study session on Wednesday March 25th 2020 at 6 p.m. motion made by J Leonard seconded by mr. Pritchard let's go invoke motion passes thank you we'll go ahead and move on J one request for future agenda items any requests I have one and I apologize because I know we have a formal form and I didn't

have one available so I'm going off memory on what the form includes but please forward it to me and I'll I'll complete it regarding executive limitation section for communication counsel to the board code with respect to providing information and counsel to the board superintendent shall not fail to give the board as much information as necessary to allow board members to actively be adequately informed so since C IPS have been removed or moved outside of the boardroom and are scheduled at times that may not may be challenging for some board members or our parents or community members to attend just in the spirit of transparency I'd like to request an agenda item that summarizes the successes and challenges at each school which were identified through the CIP process and I can put more detail into the

form if superintendent is requesting that I can plate that for him I can do that and better outline it then but just some sort of information item so the board members who can't attend or parents who can't attend those CIP presentations can still have access to that information regarding their schools and Luisa if you could send me that form if you if you want it I can fill it out Thanks thank you anything else all right we'll go ahead and move on to action item k1 and we will call for executive session pursuant to a RS 38 for 31.3 for discussion or construction of a legal advice with the attorney regarding school closures second emotion such a motion yes okay all motion motion made by Jane Leonard seconded by mr. Pritchard let's go ahead and

vote and we are in study session thank you all right wait you
