001e e [Laughter] all right we're going to go ahead and get started I want to welcome everybody uh to the first board meeting of 2025 extend our gratitude to those that are here in person and uh are thanks to everyone that's watching online or will watch online we're going to start this meeting uh with a call to order and we will have our roll call by Miss Wilson Mr Chad Thompson here Mrs Shane meray here miss uh Dr Blake Robinson here miss Jill Humphrey here Mr Jesse Brainard here Mr Thompson all board members are present you have a quorum thank you very much tonight it we have two board meetings tonight the first one is our special organizational meeting followed by a brief board M business meeting uh but we will start with uh selecting
002our board president and our board clerk for the 2 for uh and what I want to do first is start by uh we'll start with board president uh but I'll first start by reviewing the duties of the president so I'm just going to read this the duties of the president of the board shall be as follows preside over all meetings and conduct meetings in accordance with Arizona law and policies of the district consult with the superintendent and on behalf of the governing board as a whole approve items to be placed on the agenda for each meeting encourage and maintain orderly and Democratic participation keep all discussions factual and on the subject at hand allow for full and complete exploration of each item of business in the absence of the president of the board the clerk
003shall preside over the meeting temporarily and perform the functions of the president in the absence of the president and Clerk the superintendent will recommend the board members select a temporary president so the way that this works is that I will call for nominations for the board president three times and so uh we will start with the first call uh is there a call for a nomination for board president I'd like to nominate Chad Thompson for board president I think Chad's done a great job as clerk during the past year and and stepping up as as need as well the past several months thank you Mr Robinson I will call a second time uh are there any nominations for board president all right since there are none I don't think we need to call for a
004third you need to you do need to say a third time okay I will call for a third time for any nominations for board president okay thank you very much uh and now we will I think for uh official sake I think we'll vote Yes for uh the board president so all those in favor of nominating Chad Thompson as board president say I I any opposed thank you very much and now we will move on with board Clerk and before we ask for nominations I will read the uh the duties of the clerk the duties of the clerk of the board shall be as follows the clerk of the governing board shall perform the following duties unless the board delegates delegates them to an employee keep a record of the proceedings of the board in
005accordance with Arizona law and policies of the district review and itemized account of the receipts and expenditures of school Monies also known as vouchers discharge other duties as prescribed by the board I will now call three times for nominations for the board Clerk and I'll do the first one now any nominations for board clerk Mr Thompson um I nominate Jill humph for board clerk thank you Mr Brainard I'll call a second time for nominations for board clerk I'd like to nominate Blake Robinson for board clerk thank you very much Miss Murray and I'll call a third time for nominations for board clerk okay then we've got two nominations we'll take them in order and I'll call for a vote uh all those in favor of Miss Jill humph serving as board clerk for 2025 say
006I I I all those oppose say nay nay and that does not pass and so I will call for a vote uh for our second nomination Blake Robinson as board clerk for 2025 all those in favor say I I all those opposed say Nay Nay Nay thank you very much a vote of 3-2 uh Mr Blake Robinson will be our board clerk for 2025 all right thank you for thank you for that we're going to move on to agenda item number three uh the times 3.01 the times of meetings uh I will turn this over to uh Dr McCord to give us an intro of what we've been doing and possibilities for 2025 thank you Mr President and governing board members uh the generally the times that we meet are at 6:00 pm. on the
0072nd and 4th tu Tuesday of the month uh but depending on where holidays fall during months those could change our schedule is uh put out there and I believe Gabby gave it to you guys through June um but again uh traditionally they've been on Tuesday nights starting at 6 o' and um if you guys want to continue that time that'd be great uh but that's for you guys to discuss all right let's I'll go ahead and open it up for discussion well I think we need a motion first about and then we can discuss after motion uh is there a motion to discuss the times of our meetings for the upcoming year I move that we meet at 6 o'cl on when convened for our business and work study so you're making a motion that
008we that we keep the meeting time so then we can discuss it and then we can amend a motion if we want to okay got you thank you uh is there a second second thank you Miss Murray all right and we can go ahead and discuss the meeting times well the question I have is with three new board members does that time at 6 o' work for everyone um or do we um previously our meeting time started at 7 so if we need to move it back to 7 to make that more convenient for someone that's certainly okay 6 p.m. works for me well only ISS I would have is is being here earlier than that if if we had executive session like a 4:00 meeting time would be would be hard to make okay
009um but but 6 o'cl is no problem so sometimes we do have executive session about 5:30 or 5:00 is that uh difficulty so 5 o' is probably doable but before that would not be what about the other board members um 6 p.m. I can make work as well and I can do executive Session 5 or 5:30 okay usually that should be fine that's the same with me um I can do 6:00 and then yeah 5 or 5:30 okay so Dr McCord if we keep it at 6 with uh knowing that we could have executive session starting as as early as 5 if we needed to have an executive session that starts earlier than that can we move back the start time of just that board meeting for that night or is that too much too
010many moving parts to do on yeah you can move that and depending on what the executive session is generally we hold all of our executive sessions before a meeting starts uh but there are times when you could hold them at the end of the meeting if need be just depending on what it is generally when we're appointing a principal or a director we have them beforehand um but again if if time's an issue sometimes we can split them up uh one meeting or the next meeting and we can can even do that before a work study meeting as well so if we need to would it be better a 6:30 time might that be better um well I think if there's an exec session um and we have to have it longer again the board
011can choose to to move the time back we always put notices out to the community letting them know what time the board meeting will be so and I think I like the flexibility of having the executive session after a board meeting if if that's an option yeah generally like I said if it's if it's not about Personnel in terms of appointing somebody doing it before because then we can present them to the public at that meeting with people here um but if it's not then we can go at the end so it sounds like six will work for everyone and if they're if if on a rare occasion that that we have a an executive session that needs to happened before for some reason before 5:00 so that we can make note of it during
012our meeting we can push that meeting back correct and I would give you advanced notice on that just so everybody be on the same page for that evening is there any other discussion before we before I call for a vote okay then I'll go ahead and call for a vote all those in favor of uh our meeting times continuing to be uh the 2 and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 pm. barring any uh exceptions for holidays uh or any other uh need to change say I I I any opposed all right then that passes 5 to zero thank you very much moving on to uh agenda item 3.02 review and approval of Rules of Order Dr McCord oh um sorry we need to go back to policy meeting we need to talk about
013policy meeting before we go to rules of order so let's keep let's stick to 3.01 times of meetings and let's talk about uh yeah policy meeting time and I'd also like to just say for the month of January currently we have a meeting scheduled on the 28th and I think I mentioned this at our last board meeting moving that back to the 21st um for the mere fact that we have to do a presentation related to the Acer is that correct and Miss bets will be out of town uh something that she'd had scheduled so we'd like to move that meeting just to the 21st if that's okay with everybody um and then for policy meeting generally they're during uh the day on a Tuesday usually it's the one of the Tuesdays between board meeting
014meetings and it's at 11:30 um and before members uh became actual board members but uh I had talked to some of them and and that time is difficult for a few people and I totally understand that and so if we left it on uh I I think it's important for you guys to discuss what day would work and what time uh afternoons I think might work better for some people at our policy meetings we generally have representations from uh as principles from the elementary junior highs and high schools and we have um other members that will attend depending on what policy it is um and We've ran them during the day because uh those administrators that come to those um they all have night activities as well so we try not to impose on them
015so they can continue their their job that they have uh uh that they signed up for as as administrators and so uh if we can stay out of the evenings that would be great but an afternoon would probably work our policy meetings rarely run over an hour um and um there's also the ability to zoom in if you're not able to come or call in um so um and we have policy meetings as committee of the holes for the mere fact that um we think it's important that policies get discussed and constructed not during a board meeting uh because that could take up an enormous amount of time and um so what we do is in a policy committee is we'll bring something for a first read have a discussion make any uh changes within
016that committee then bring those changes here for a first read uh and have any discussion here at the board and then we take it back to the policy committee uh for a second read if there's any changes or anything uh needs to be tweaked that happens during the policy meeting we bring him back for the second read for approval and so that seems to keep policies moving in the right direction and we we take care of them very well that way so um maybe you guys would like to open up and have a discussion about certain times that you would like to do that yeah I'll make a motion uh or I'll ask for a motion to uh for the policy meetings to be held at 11:30 and then we can discuss is there a
017motion to have our policy meetings um Tuesdays at 11:30 when necessary um I'll amend that motion to to to make a motion that we hold it um the It's usually the third Tuesday is that correct Dr McCord yeah it just depends like um depends on if there are holidays during that month that will dictate another day but well um I was going to suggest the time if we're talking about an afternoon time at 4:00 on T on the Tuesday of policy meeting so you'd like to make a motion that I'm making a motion that policy meeting be at 4:00 on the on that day Tuesday policy meeting the third Tuesdays which usually the third Tuesday okay at 4 o' at 4:00 okay is and then we can discuss somebody can second that and then we
018can discuss that is there a second second thank you Mr brard and okay let's go ahead yeah let's go ahead and discuss that um I know that I don't want to speak for anybody but I think a couple people said that meeting before 5 o' would be tough but um well I'll let them speak for themselves if there are people that have a better suggestion please suggest a time that works for you and let's see if we can work it out for everyone else too yeah I'm not sure if it's a better suggestion but what would work for me is I could do the third Wednesday before 11:30 works for me Wednesday morning or Mondays work for me so I could make anytime on a Monday work um before 5:00 P p.m. on other days
019I I wouldn't be able to make so you said Wednesdays before 11:30 so we'd have to be done by 11:30 done by 11:30 okay so we'd probably need to start 9:30 10 I I would say I would say I then let me amend my motion and see if this works better for everybody let's do 8:00 on a third Wednesday is does that work better um I wouldn't be able to make those times CU I'm on contract as a teacher from 7:45 to 3:45 um I could do earlier but that's not always appealing just saying any early birds here um after that though I could zoom in uh 3:30ish on Mondays or Wednesdays um I could do later as well on Mondays or Wednesdays as well sometime around anywhere between 4 and 5 o'clock would work
020for me I think for uh for me I can I think either early in the morning works for me or like a 4:00 time um Dr m a question what is there a better day either Monday Wednesday um that works for staff to like prepare for the meeting it it doesn't necessarily matter Wednesdays um are are PLC days for our campuses and so um sometimes those run longer at our campuses and that might hinder some of the uh attendees being here on time um so I mean I mean I think Mondays would probably be better but we're okay either way with whatever you decide so does someone want to amend the motion to to give another try um I could amend the motion to do I don't did we say Thursdays could be a potential
021as well we did not talk about it okay I know I know I'm just sorry um I can I I'll amend the motion to make it Thursday at 4:30 for policy meetings okay is that does that work for you Thursday would be five would be the earliest for me but Mondays Mondays would work so yeah either Wednesday morning or or after 5 another day or anytime on Monday Friday afternoon's a popular meeting time as well do later on Friday afternoon right oh yeah no even five o'clock on Friday so what about um what about Monday at 4 o'l and I the only reason I hesitate to do that is I would hate for it to be a standard practice for you to have to join us um Miss Murray for you to have to join
022us uh remotely for all of our policy meetings um but it I don't know how does Monday at Monday at 4 oh does that not work for you either Mr Robinson did you say Monday Monday works oh oh that's right Wednesday it had to be in the morning um yeah so what about Mur does Monday at 400 PM or does 4:30 work like or Thursday is better than Mondays I guess um for me Thursdays are better than Mondays however if I need to make a change to my schedule at work on Mondays I can probably make I can probably make that work so I'll leave that I can be flexible depending on what the rest of the board decides Mr brener does that work for you what what works best for you I think you
023know Mondays at 4 works the best but I think um ultimately either in the morning or at like 4:00 would be the best for my schedule I would also like to say we will schedule them out on a monthly basis but if we don't policies we usually heavy on those in the fall uh more than we are this spring and so if we don't have anything that can't wait we'll cancel that meeting just so you guys know so we'll make sure you know in advance but is Monday at 4:30 too far into the evening for staff and administration that have obligations for in the evenings I I couldn't speak for them but I mean if if that's what works for you guys we will accommodate it I'm just trying trying to think of a way
024that we could all be here in person time that we could all be here in person I I think the board being all here in person is very important I think that I would like to see staff but if there's a certain principle that maybe that that doesn't work for their schedule we could ask you know Dr McCord could ask a different person to be on the committee at least for that month or something so if I'll make a I'll amend the motion whatever motion we have on the floor that we meet at 4:30 the third Monday of the month usually for policy meeting okay is there a second second thank you Mr brard would that give you would 4:30 give you time to be here yes yeah I can do 4:30 okay so it
025sounds like Monday at 4:30 the third Tuesday unless it Monday third Monday thank you unless it needs to be changed for some reason in which case we'll have ample notice okay I'll go ahead and call for a vote all those in favor of our board policy meetings taking place the 3 Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m. say I I any opposed all right thank you very much that was that was an exercise right there and that was fantastic fantastic thank you all for plan Retreat for sharing and for making helping us figure that out and and can I say one thing if this if we find that this doesn't work for someone we can come back and redo the schedule with if someone if if it comes up to be a conflict we can
026come back we don't have to wait the entire year if for some reason it's not working please talk to Dr mcord and let's put it back on the agenda and discuss it should we need to change it again thank you Miss humph uh are there any other meeting times that need to be discussed with the board not off the top of my head okay thank you now we will move on to 3.02 review and approval of Rules of Order Dr McCord thank you Mr President governing board members this is uh for policy 1-31 and I'll just read it to you and read it for everybody else it says the board shall abide by the following Rules of Order one every item that requires action by the board shall require a motion made by any member
027of the board including the president two a motion must receive a second from another board member of the board which may include the president prior to consideration by the board if a motion does not receive a second the board will not consider the motion three motions of the board may include but are not limited to the following a a motion for Action by the board b a motion to adjourn the board president May recess or adjourn a meeting without a motion to adjourn if required to maintain order c a motion to table an item d a motion to amend a pending motion e a motion to refer to committee or f a motion to refer to the superintendent four Once a motion receives a a second the board may consider the motion and discuss the
028motion five a motion may be amended at any time by any board member amending a pending motion requires a motion and a second and six to pass a motion requires an affirmative vote of a majority of the board members in attendance and voting an abstention does not count as a vote for the purposes of determining whether a motion passes notwithstanding the above the board May suspect bend the rules of order by a majority of vote by majority vote of the board's members in attendance and voting thank you for reading that so are we are we voting to we're not voting to approve this yes I think you are we're voting to approve this as this board correct yes okay and is there a motion to approve the rules of order as uh as documented in
0291-31 so moved thank you Miss humph is there a second second thank you Mr Robinson is there any discussion regarding the rules of order as they're uh outlined in this uh 1 d301 it makes sense to everybody clear as mud okay all right then I will call for a vote all those in favor of uh of approving the rules of order as outlined in 1-31 say I I I any opposed and that passes 5 to zero thank you very much moving on to 3.03 board appointment to the formal employee benefit trust as trustee and to the other various committees Dr McCord thank you Mr President governing board members yes um this is the time of the year when you choose and discuss what committees you'd like to be on um I will list those committees
030so you know and I think there's a copy of it in your agenda first one is the policy committee which is committee of the whole the second one is enrollment management committee which is also a committee of the whole three is legislative representative and we need an alternative representative for that so that will require two people town of Gilbert liaison city of Mesa liaison the Gilbert Education Foundation liaison the employee benefit trust board member and a member for the audit committee Miss Wilson do you have a list I don't see those in our um in our printed agenda do you have a list of those that you can display on the screen we'll pull it up on the screen I thought you guys had a copy my apology no that's fine you couldn't remember all
031that no I did just for the benefit of the other board members so while we're waiting for that I'll just make a motion that we discuss and appoint board members this is not something we need to vote on but we can discuss and then choose um where we want to serve thank you how we do that thank you m humre is there a second second thank you Mr Robinson all right so policy committee committee of the whole enrollment management committee committee of the whole legis so legislative representative is where we would start uh is there any board member that would uh that would like to serve as our primary legislative representative um I I wouldn't mind taking that role it's been a while since I've done that so I'd be happy to take that role
032great thank you Miss humph and alternative is there anybody that would like to serve as the alternative representative and my recommendation for this is that we don't call it alternative representative we call it asba liaison that's what it was previously called and that person would then uh be the one that would give our vote during the three times that is required at asba events that would be the county meeting the delegate assembly and the annual meeting and that's that's my recommendation it that's been its previous title just that um we've changed you know titles have been changed depending on board members preferences I I would probably prefer that it Remains the legislative representative because it's more I think that's more encompassing um I think the asba language would um limits the uh limits the range
033of the uh of this uh see how to say this limits the the uh the representation uh of this legislative representative I'd like to keep it the reason I suggest that is that um Mr Brainard working for the legislature that's a conflict of interest for him and if he would be interested in being the asba representative for those votes that's not a conflict of interest with the legislature if if he's interested but I also think that it is for all legislative purposes so I I you know what I mean I I understand what you're saying I totally get that but I I think then it pigeon holds anybody that wants to be that legislative representative alternate so I don't know you guys can discuss that that was better better stated than well was because you
034eloquently said it right the first time so I was just restating thank you all right is there any other is there any other discussion on the uh on the alternative legislative representative and is there a volunteer I would volunteer as an alternate but I would want to keep the verbiage the same as just alternate representative because I wouldn't want to just do the asba uh meetings okay okay can I interrupt real quick too one one more time I apologize after we're done with this and and once somebody is approved or once somebody has volunteered for the employee benefit trust when we there is a motion on the floor but that needs to be approved by a motion for that that specific position because when we created this that was created by the board at the
035time and it so in order to be that person on that trust you have to be approved by the board okay so I I do have a question about that one Dr mord uh because we uh Mrs ug jetti was serving both on the the board of the trust but she was also serving on our I don't know what I don't know what it's called the fiscal board that oversees the trust mhm um so this is just the one that is um attends the I think their monthly meetings or is this the fiscal so there's actually two two positions that we need to fill so the um the board created the formal employee benefit trust we were what they call a Viba trust prior to three years ago so it does require a very formal
036action to appoint a new trustee to the EBT trust board um the uh the committee the employee benefit trust committee does not require a board member and so this agenda item was intended for the trustee the formal trustee correct and so we don't need a board member on the other trust committee correct right that was in intended for employees um to provide input regarding their own benefits okay I I guess that that has changed because I've served on that committee prior to when Mrs ug jetti came on the board so I guess we've changed that it was it but when it was a Viba trust it was the whole committee as a whole which involved the board as well but now that it's a formal employee benefit trust it is a separate entity that has
037the very clear fiduciary responsibilities all right thank you for clarifying that then do each of these uh do each of these committees the legislative town of Gilbert Mesa and so forth do the do the representatives need to be approved by a vote or are we just deciding no we don't need to approve it we just need to decide that one except for the employee except for the formal employee benefit trust and we can just make that a separate motion okay perfect okay so uh so miss Humphries as the legislative representative and Miss Murray as the alternative legislative representative is everybody is anybody does anybody want to challenge that no okay perfect congratulations uh next the town of Gilbert uh liaison is there anybody that would like to serve as the town of Gilbert liaison and
038for those of you that are new to us tonight let me help you out with that that's not necessarily a formal meeting that's where the city of Mesa has liaison to Gilbert public schools and so does the town of Gilbert so we make sure you get connected and you connect however you guys would like okay I'd be happy to do that one okay thank you Mr Robinson is there anybody else that would like to that wanted to serve as the Gilbert leison and okay congratulations Mr Robinson uh the city of Mesa liaison is so I guess there's three of us left is there anybody either of you would either of you like to serve as the city of Mesa liaison I'd like to serve as the city of Mesa liaison okay thank you Miss Murray
039is that okay with everybody is there okay all right congratulations uh the Gilbert Education Foundation Lis on those meetings are held on a monthly basis usually in the after afternoon or evenings um and yeah it's Teresa Dudson is the uh executive director of the Gilbert Education Foundation so you would be connected with her and uh those meetings are usually either held in her office uh which is next to M junior high or she also provides a zoom link so thank you uh is there anybody that would like to serve as the liaison for the Gilbert education found I'd be interested okay great thank you Mr brard is there anybody else that wanted that okay congratulations Mr Brainard so the employee benefit trust board member uh and we can do so I just want to make
040sure that I understand this right so this is is different than the formal employee benefit trust as trustee is that correct it's the same thing this is the same thing right okay so we have the employee benefit trust left as well as the audit committee got it okay um I I would be happy to serve as the employee as the formal employee benefit trust as trustee unless there's anybody else that that I was interested also in serving on that in that capacity then then I think you should do it okay I think you should do it then you can take the audit committee I would be happy to take the audit committee I I love a good audit I mean it's just it's my favorite well I I have done it for a year or
041two I think I've done it two years so I I do um I would highly recommend that each of us as board members that we take a turn on each of these committees and that we rotate each year the reason for these committees is so that we get a a better look at what's going on in our district and the the um different ways that we can support it and the different ways that it's um a benefit to our Comm community so I just highly recommend that we all take a turn each year at a different at a different part of this work I think that's a great idea Miss humph so my understanding is that we do need to call for a vote to approve Miss Humphries as the formal employee benefit trust as
042trustee is there is there a motion to approve Miss Jill Humphries as formal employee benefit trust as trustee so moved thank you Mr Rob sorry just by Rule of Order we probably need to finaly the audit committee which is I guess you yep and I I made a motion that we would discuss it and we probably need to take a vote that we all approve these positions and then make a separate motion for the trust okay that's fine so is that the motion for yes approving these positions yes approving these positions and then you can go over who's doing which comme all right uh is there a second second thank you Mr Brainard so now I'll call for a vote all those in favor of uh Miss humph no no this um we need to
043complete the motion of the various committees that we were discussing and then open a motion for the trust that was her original motion to open up discussion yeah so my my mind was that we should discuss and then take the assignments but we need to in order to close the motion we just need to vote that we're all accepting these assignments okay so then we're calling for a vote to accept these assignments as we've discussed this evening yes all right all those in favor say I I any opposed perfect thank you very much and now is there a motion to approve Miss humph as the formal employee benefit trust as trustee yeah have to Mr Robinson is there a second second thank you Miss Murray and I'll call for a vote all those in favor
044of approving Miss Jill humph as the formal employee benefit trust as truste say I I any opposed and that's it congratulations everybody and I I agree I think I think changing up annually or if there's unless there's some comp compelling reason to uh to do otherwise I think that's a good idea so uh Mr Thompson just um I I did want to bring up one point here when we're talking about the Committees which has to do with our agenda and I gave you prior notice of this and that is um as our agenda has currently been done for the last probably six or seven years um at the very end of the board meeting it says board committee reports um prior to that it just said board reports and my suggestion is that we move
045the we make it board reports so that we as board members can talk about things Beyond just the committee work that we've done and that we move that earlier in the agenda to right after the superintendent report I've seen it done that way in other districts and so if a board member has something that they want to report on for example Mr Thompson I saw you came to the mosquite High football game and if you wanted to share um what you did you know enjoying that game or something that you did then you could do that if we said board reports rather than board committee reports I feel like when we constrain ourselves just to talking about our committee work we're not not really communicating with our constituents about all the various things we do
046as board members there's many many things Beyond just this one committee I think if if you do something on your committee and if something with the Gilbert Education Foundation is coming up I think you definitely should report on that but I think that moving the language back to what it was previously where it was board reports and then putting it earlier in the meeting where we have more of an audience we don't usually have much of an audience by the time we get to the end and we've done policy and all of those things um so that is my recommendation I thought this would be the appropriate time to bring it up because we're talking about board committees I I appreciate you bringing that up I I I've I've given this a little thought um
047and I'll address this as two separate issues do we need to make a motion to discuss this or can we just discuss well I I think we probably need a motion to discuss um okay why don't you go ahead and make a motion I'll make a motion to uh that instead of having board committee reports at the end of the meeting we move it to after the superintendent report and we just call it board report is there a second second thank you thank you Mr brard uh and now we can discuss so in regards so my thoughts in regards to changing the name I I don't I don't have any issue with that my concern however uh is that there are some board members that have a lot of time to go and participate in
048District activities outside of the Committees and there are some board members that have very little time to do that and my concern is um is being considerate of those that don't have a lot of time um feeling like they're not uh being an effective board member because they don't have more than their committee to report on so like I said I'm I'm fine calling a board reports I just and I'm fine um and I'm fine broadening the the report to beyond our committees I just think that if we do that we we need to be very sensitive to the fact that maybe maybe more often than not more a number of our board members will have not had time to go out and participate in any other District activities and I don't want them to
049feel like they are not being effective or not not fulfilling their duties um as a board member those are my thoughts I I think those reports if someone excuse me chooses to report should be very brief and very positive and that would be um all of it but I think when we limit it to board committee reports if there's nothing to report um I think that is a a kind of not showing the the community all the work that we do I think every one of us can have a thought or a um something we've learned about education during the last month I mean it's only once a month so it's I I just think it it could be and if we need to address it again obviously we can do that we don't have
050to wait for a whole year we can bring it up anytime that someone feels they need to address it is there any other discussion on this topic certainly would like are we are addressing both things both the title and the timing no right now just the title just the the from committee I think my motion was for both that um I would have to go back to that it was for both to change the title and move it to after superintendent report okay then okay any other Mr Robinson did you have have something about either one of those uh yeah I mean I like changing the name I don't know if that's actually like necessary to to be able to to talk about those things but it is necessary I think there's ways to address
051that I'm saying also not in a formal board meeting there's other avenues to address the public on things you're doing so it doesn't necessarily need to be an a formal board meeting um but I'm I'm okay with that I guess for me more with the timing and I mean I do anticipate my board reports will be highly entertaining and something to be anticipated but but I I would as a member of a public when I attended the meeting it was never for uh a memb board report and so I I just think that out of respect for people who come to the meeting they're usually coming for one of the business items or to address a certain thing so I I would rather keep the board reports at the end of the meeting um just
052for that reason any other comments or discussion um I'm okay with making the change I think especially if it was previously like that you know I think um you know might as well um I don't really you know I I I see Mr robson's point on the time um but I think it would be nice you know even something simple talking about the recent football game or a concert or play that happened and it isn't again uh like Mrs Humphrey said not taking you know too much time but being concise and you know quick about do you have any input um I I'm I'm okay with the change but I I after attending many board meetings and also watching them online I also agree with kind of the conciseness of sticking to the agenda items
053and putting it at the end just because there are they they the meetings can already tend to get pretty lengthy and um I mean changing the title is great sure if we want to report on that stuff and let people know what we're up to and all the great things we SE in the district I love that um but also being conscious of the time as well um considering and and this is this is a part of the board meeting listening to what everyone has said um let me amend my motion that we change the title to board reports and then we leave it at the end of the agenda thank you Miss humph is there a second or do we need a second for yes we have to I'm amending it so someone has
054to second that okay thank you so is there a second second thank you Miss Murray is there any further discussion on this topic okay uh then I'll call for a vote all those in favor of changing the title from board committee reports to board reports and keeping uh that section or that uh agenda item at the end end of our uh uh board meetings say I I any opposed thank you very much thank you Miss humph for bringing that up that was a good discussion thank you thank you all right uh I will go ahead and we will um adjourn our special organizational meeting and we will roll into our brief board business meeting I'll call the brief board M business meeting to order and once again ask Miss Wilson for uh roll call Mr
