Uh, okay. So, I'm going to uh actually I'm going to call the meeting to order. And uh the first item has to do with the um superintendent search and evaluation um negotiation and evaluation committee. >> Um Jeff Jeff, I'm sorry to interrupt you. Don't we have to adopt remote participation? >> Oh yeah. Could I have a motion to adopt remote participation as written in the agenda, please? >> Seconded. >> Good. Pam. >> Pam Nurosin. Yes. >> Linda Herbison Bolton. Yes. >> Marily Dover. Yes. >> Charlene Cabrell Lancaster. Yes. >> Aaron Mau Lexington. Yes. >> Jeff St. Nam. Yes. >> Alistister Lucas. Yes. Great. So, um, now the way that, uh, PM is the chair of that committee and PM is setting a very aggressive schedule in order to proceed and because of the aggressive schedule,
not all school committee members can uh, uh, live with that schedule. So, we're asking for a temporary change in that uh, committee makeup. So what I'm going to ask uh in a minute is to change temporarily uh to to the the committee is currently Pam, Charlene, and Linda. And we're going to ask to do a temporary change to take out Charlene and pull in Alice, who will be able to meet this aggressive agenda, but to only do it briefly. So the motion would read, I move on a temporary basis solely for the purpose of superintendent contract negotiations that Charlene Cabral be removed from and Alistister Luca be added to the superintendent negotiation and evaluation subcommittee. Could somebody please make that motion and then we can discuss it? >> So moved. >> Second. >> I have
a second. Okay, very good. So again, the only reason for this move is uh scheduling purposes and it's only for the purpose of this contract negotiations with the superintendent. So that's the motion and I know that Pam has talked to both Charlene and Alice. >> Can I have a question though? >> Sure. The reason why I couldn't attend was because the meetings were going to be in person at Minute Man during the day when I was supposed to be at work, >> right? >> Um, so is that what the meetings are going to be throughout this whole um thing? >> And and I know Linda's traveling a lot, so is Linda going to be able to go in person? >> Yeah. So, can I is it okay if I respond, Jeff? >> Please. Yes. I've
checked out dates with Linda and this is for we're hoping to do this in a um you know limited number of meetings um in person at Minute Man. Um this will not like after this negotiation the committee still has work to do um in terms of uh you know the evaluation cycle and we will be going back to our zoom meetings for that. So, this is only for a, you know, a what hopefully will be a quick um process of for um negotiating our superintendent's contract. >> Okay. I just want to be clear to the committee that it's not that I'm um you know not addressing my obligations here, but my executive director is out of town and I'm running the the agency and she's not going to be back until the week after next.
So, um for these two weeks, I I can't just take off. >> And I knew that might be a problem for people. And uh I think that Pam is partly modeling it after our success with the faculty uh negotiations and the fact is is that these negotiations should be in person um and but but um we're doing it in a fairly concentrated manner. So yes, that is correct. Charlene is only not able to do it because of circumstances which is why I stated in the mo it is a scheduling issue only. >> Yeah. Charlene, I want to say like I certainly understand that having you know up until recently I had the same issues and you know having a very difficult time attending um things during the day. So I I know it's not a
reflection on your commitment and I appreciate your flexibility with this. It's for a very short time and I look forward to working with you on this committee because we still have a lot of work to do. >> Okay. >> Any further questions or comments for the motion on the table? >> Yes, Mark. >> Just something quick. I mean, I understand the reason for this temporary um addition or shift. I also think there's little benefit to having other people on from time to time. It's a challenging task that the subcommittee takes on. Um so I think there could be benefit too but that's it as you will see um at the start of next year um when we redo the subcommittees that kind of shifting around is taken into account generally speaking historically. >> Thanks. >>
Okay. Very good. Then move to the no other comments. We'll move to the roll call vote. Pam >> Pam no acting. Yes. >> Sarah Montigue Arlington. Yes. >> Linda Herbison Bulletin. Yes. >> Marily Dover. Yes. >> Charlie Lancaster. Yes. >> Sharon is on mute. >> Sharon Mto Lexington. Yes. Unmuted. >> Jeff still need. Yes. >> Still. Yes. >> Very good. Uh just as a side note, it had been uh mentioned that um the subcommittee may want the chairperson, that's me, to attend some of these meetings uh for historic information that I may have that might be useful for the negotiations, but I would not be I'm not a voting member. I'd just be there for um historic reference. That may or may not happen, but Pam brought it up as a possibility, so I'm just
throwing it out there. Very good. That ends this part of the regular meeting. I would like a um actually I'm going to make this motion. Um I move that we enter into executive session return and we return to open session and we include Julian Heidi for the following reasons. A pursuant to MGL chapter 3A section uh 21 A2 for the purpose of discussing strategy as it relates to contract negotiations with non-UN personnel. the business manager. So, I've made that motion. Could I have a second, please? >> Second. >> And I did say return to open session and to include Heidi and Julia. Correct. Yes, I think I did. Very good. Very good. Then roll call vote. Pam. >> Pam Rosen. Yes. >> Sarah Montu Arlington. Yes. >> Linda Bolton. Yes. >> Marqueely Dover. Yes. >>
Lancaster. Yes. >> Karen Mosto, Lexington, yes. Jeff needing yes. Yes. >> Time to Nikki is across our cam. No, there she is. Okay, she's not across our camera anymore. Is that it, Julia? >> All set, Jeff. >> Great. Then uh let's start with a motion and then we will have our usual discussion as needed. I would like a motion for the school committee to um approve the business manager contract as presented to the school committee. Please. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Right. comments discussion. Alice Duca >> I'd just like to say it's always a pleasure to work with Nikki. She's um terrific business manager. Seen so many business managers over the years. Terrific business manager. Great to work with. Great member of the team. >> Thank you very much. PM Norse. Um, I'd also
like to add how much I appreciate that our towns have a lot of confidence in in Nikki and that I think makes um a a big difference with our relationship with the towns and also happy birthday. >> Thank you, >> Sharon. Um, I would just like to add that Nikki, not only do you do a wonderful job preparing all the information for all of our meetings, but you also make it very digestible to those of us that are not crazy business wiz whizzes and I think that you're always very approachable with questions and explaining things very nicely and I really appreciate that very much so. >> Thank you, >> Sarah. Um and I'll add and second that um she's built a great process and building really strong relationships with all of our different towns and
they have I I see when I go to the meetings in Arlington they have a lot of confidence in her and also happy birthday Nikki. >> Thank you >> Mark. Hi, Nikki. I'll just add as the newest school board member here, I think um I appreciate hearing the um positive comments from colleagues and also feel like a business manager who can understand and explain school budgets so clearly and look for cost cutting opportunities is worth their weight and gold. So, I appreciate and hope that this contract is beneficial to you as much as you are to the region. >> Hi, D2. Um, I just wanted to I see another person in the Zoom right now. I don't see a last name, but I think it is possibly Sonia, our assistant business manager. So, if it
is, I just want to make sure we um give a shout out to our assistant business manager and Nikki's entire team in the business department. Um, because it is a um high functioning operation um with many members of the team. Um, so I want to acknowledge the whole group of them. Well, Heidi, you stole my thunder there. Um, all the reports that I'm able to provide to you, um, I am only able to do that because of my team. So, um, when you approve warrants um, and the finance committee, that's because of all the processing um, that my team does. Um, you know, Sonia is an integral part of that um, in her role as assistant business manager. So, you know, they make my job easy um, to present to you. So um you know
not only do I appreciate um this but I I would like to give kudos to my entire team um you know because my job um I'm not be able to successfully complete my job without the strong team that I have. >> My comment is very simple clarity and transparency. What if all the financial various managers and institutions had this much clarity and transparency? I think we'd all be in a lot better shape. So uh clarity, transparency, competence and you're right it is a team effort but you are the one who goes to make the presentations for which uh uh the the materials that are created for you and your presentation of them is why many of our member towns have uh so much confidence in uh Minute Man's finances and that's why it was so
uncontroversial for us to in a very short period of time come to approve this contract for you. Are there any more contracts uh comments before we move to a vote? Very well then. Pam >> Pam Norakton yes. >> Sarah Montik Arlington yes. >> Linda Herbison Bolton yes. >> Mark Healey Dober yes. >> Charlene cabal yes. Lancaster yes. Sharon Mosto Lexington. Yes. And happy birthday, Nikki. >> Jeff Stula Nean. Yes. >> Alistister Luca. Yes. >> Okay. Now, Pam, did I uh fulfill my promise of finishing before 7 o'clock so you could attend the meeting? >> You have done it, Jeff. Congratulations. >> So, thank you. Thank you all the school committee members for uh attending this special session that allowed us to do this for Nikki in a and for us in a timely manner and
timely manner. And Charlene, we all know that um your service to the school committee is exemplary and uh uh it's a it's just a scheduling issue that um that I I thought there might be issues for some school committee members for just as there was on the um our recent teacher negotiations. So, thank you all. Have a great evening and I'd like a motion to adjourn, please. Second. >> Very good. Roll call vote. Pam, last time tonight. >> Pam Nurse Actton, yes. >> Sarah Montue, Arlington, yes. >> Linda Herbison, yes. >> Marily Dover, yes. >> Charlie, Lancaster, yes. >> Aron Must Lexington, yes. >> Jeff Stan, yes. >> Lucas Joe, yes. >> Thank you all. Have a great night. >> Good night, everyone. you. Happy birthday to you. >> Thank you. Appreciate you. Look forward
to working with you all.
