Right. Good evening everyone and thank you for joining us for the first school committee meeting of 2026. And we welcome our new member, Carrie. I was gonna say Bethany. I'm sorry. [laughter] Carrie Mullen. >> All right. Um we will begin with the um well actually we'll begin with the pledge of allegiance even though it's not on here. [snorts] >> I alian to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Say [singing] by the dawn early night. [singing] What so proudly we held [singing] at the twilight last gleaming who's broad stripes and bright [singing] stars through the perilous fight [singing] or the ramparts we watched were so gallently streaming. And the rockets bursting in gave proof through

the night that our [singing] flag was still there. Oh, say does that [singing] star spangled then wave or the land of the free and the home of the brave. Mrs. Fagan will lead us in invocation and a moment of silence. Lord, as we begin this session, let us acknowledge your goodness and mercy and ask your blessings on all our deliberations. We thank you for this opportunity to be of service to our community and to the young people entrusted to our care. And we have two people that we want to remember tonight. Robert T. Bob Dwey died suddenly on January 1st, 2026 at the age of 78. He grew up in Taton and graduated from Coil High School in 1965 where he was an outstanding athlete winning a state championship for his track team. It also

garnered him a full track scholarship to Holy Cross. He taught seventh grade social studies for over 25 years at Martin School. He lived in Middleboro for over 30 years and upon retiring found a passion for farming. His gardens were wid widely known as he had a profound appreciation for nature and a love for all mothers nature's nature's creatures. Bob gave back to society taking in people trying to get back on their feet being generous with his time and money and never wanting any re recognition. He leaves his wife of 25 years, two daughters, and many friends who will remember and I'm sorry who will remember him for his intelligence, his sense of humor and devotion to those he loved. He will be deeply missed. And our next person is we recently so I have this

written for her um Gail Provost. We also received notice of the recent passing of Gail Provost. She served as a school psychologist from 1986 to 2003 at the Bonum School and worked part-time there from 2003 to 2007. She is fondly remembered by Superintendent Cabraw and his wife as as Gail mented Christina early in her career. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers. Moment of silence, please. Thank you. >> Thank you, Mrs. Fagan. Roll call. >> Yes, please. Thank you. >> Mrs. Mullen, >> present. Okay. Mrs. Mrs. Shabs, >> present. >> Mr. Powski, >> present. >> Mrs. Fens, present. [clears throat] >> Miss Santos, >> present. >> Mr. Vieira, >> present. >> Mr. Laura, >> present. >> Uh, Dr. Dlo, oh god, >> present. and Mayor O'Connell [laughter] >> present. Thank you, Mrs. Fagan.

Okay, so we begin this evening with the election of the chairperson and uh everyone received a packet with all of kind of the guidelines and rules on it. I will just uh go over this very briefly. Uh nominations will be accepted by me um following the rules of order. Once the nominations are exhausted, I will rule that the nominations be closed. Um I will then place each nominee before the members for a vote um in the order in which they were nominated. Um and the new chair shall be elected by a majority vote of those present and voting. The new chair must receive five votes. And in the event that um the chair or secretary should vacate their position for any reason, a new election will be held um you know at one at a

point during the term. All right. So I will open up the floor for nominations for chair chairperson. Mrs. Fagen >> like to um nominate Dr. Dlo for chairman of the school committee. >> Thank you. >> Second the motion. >> All right. So motion and second for Dr. Dlo. Are there any other nominations this evening? >> Uh, yes. I'd like to nominate Mrs. Sh. >> Okay. >> Second. >> Okay. So, there's a a nomination and a second for Mrs. Shave. Are there any other nominations for chair this evening? Okay. Seeing none, I will close the floor for nominations for chair and we will proceed with Yes. >> Is there on discussion >> on uh Sure. >> Okay. Uh thank you Madame Mayor. Um I think uh it's it's really important this uh this body has worked

very well together and I think um we have a we have a good problem in front of us. Two very dedicated hardworking exceptional people that wish to be the chair. So I think in the interest of transparency and democracy I'd like like both of them to have an opportunity to address the group kind of tell us why they wish to be the chair what they think we'll do so that we can make the best informed decision you know and I think the good news is no matter how it turns out we're going to be great. We're going to have a great chairperson. We'll work [snorts] great together for the next two years just like we have the last two. So, thank you. >> Okay. Uh thank you, Mr. Powski. Uh Dr. Dlo, would you like

to proceed? >> Absolutely. Thank you, Mayor. Uh thank you, colleagues. Thank you, Secretary Fagan, for your nomination. And the second by Mr. Vieiraa. Uh I have the good fortune of working at an institution of higher education, as we all know, Bridgewater State, and a fellow colleague also works there. And every day that I go into that Bdon Hall building, I am um greeted by a uh quote not to be ministered onto but to minister by Horus man. And I think we all know that Horus man is also known as the founder of American public education. Uh the quote really is centered on leaders should serve others rather than expect to be served and embodying humility and selflessness. And that's how I lead my life and my uh public service not only here at the school

committee but at the taunt municipal lighting plant as a commissioner and every organization that I belong to. Uh the last four years as chairperson uh I think the colleagues that are sitting at the table have at least had two years of my leadership ability. Uh it it's uh something that I take great pride in. It's something that uh I don't do alone and I recognize that and I believe that in the first time in history uh when I have my bi-weekly meetings with the superintendent, I've invited the secretary to join me at those meetings. So there's full transparency so that uh there's no he said she said. So I I think that's very important uh the transparency part and there's a a list of achievements and uh you know I just just to go over

a few and and this again was not just me and I I think a lot of the folks that sat in these seats before us had a lot to do with this and we just picked up and led the charge. So with student success and achievement, our graduation rate is above state average. Our absenteeism has dropped. Our early college opportunities launched in chapter 74 vocational programs, which we're all very proud of, especially in early education and care and construction craft laborer and uh other uh different things like prek expansion that we all know about that we work very hard for. Uh facilities and fiscal management I think is a key as a duty of a school committee uh person. Uh fiscal responsibility is key and uh above and beyond all the facility improvements including uh

the auditorium and the and the scoreboards and the fields millions and millions of dollars that we have not put the burden on the taxpayers that we have really raised ourselves through revolving funds which is very very key and important. Uh we continue to maintain these facilities. uh folks that come from different parts of Massachusetts and other states are always uh really really aed at how our facilities are so wellkept and almost like brand spanking new. So we should be very proud of that as school committee members. Uh community engagement and pride is very important. Uh we don't have to mention our state champions in softball and baseball and wrestling and decathlon and javelin and everything else. uh our DECA students, our Air Force JOTC. Uh I mean it goes on and on and on. We

know what those achievements are. Uh governance and stability is very very important. Uh we have a superintendent that's very involved uh not only in the superintendent association but in other different um facets that he's invited to be at because he's a leader. He's a leader with pride and with experience that other school districts really look up to. And I had the pleasure at one of the MASC meetings to speak on behalf of TA public schools with the superintendent. And I thought we'd probably have about five people in the audience. I think we had about 25 or 30 that day uh because they wanted to know what Taunt's secret was. And I was very proud to represent the school committee at that event. And something near and dear to my heart and I think all of

us is school safety and security. Uh we work with the fire, police, and first responders. Uh we have added vestibules and continue to add vestibules. We just voted on that uh the other the other week. Uh we have implemented 3D imaging without throughout our school buildings to aid our police and fire response. And we participate in police training. Right. We've gone to the old Cohen on the third floor and participated in I think I flipped Mrs. Fagan over a couple times defending myself because she was charging at me. Wasn't that correct, Mrs. Fagan? No laughs, huh? Okay. So anyway, so these are some of the accomplishments that we made together. And I I say that because if we were all at the inaugural on Monday night, and I think the mayor hit the nail on

the head where she doesn't do it alone. It's a city, okay? It's a team that gets things done. And I'm very proud to be a citizen of Taton because we are at the forefront of Massachusetts, not just southeastern Massachusetts anymore. Massachusetts, we have the public rail. People are moving to Taunt. Our growth is happening in industrial park and businesses and our streets are paved and our schools are great and people not only come to this city not just because of opportunities because the school system is very important to them too. So that's team effort and I've mentioned this more than once. The kids that come before us are not just school committee kids. They are city council kids. They're zoning board kids, planning board kids. They're everybody's kids. And as a team, as a city,

we make this school district the best it can be. And we're very proud of doing that. again together. >> Couple of themes and elements. Couple of themes and elements. Vision and purpose. Defining a clear and compelling future of the why behind the work. And that was our theme this past year. The why behind the work. And I think we can all embrace that. Empathy and connection, showing understanding, creating safety, and focusing on the needs of the team. Accountability, integrity, taking responsibility for successes and failures. Very important to admit our failures. When something doesn't work, we try to change it and make it better. Continuous growth, emphasizing self-improvement and learning. We're all lifelong learners. Empowerment, encouraging individuals to help those around them. We like to grow our staff from within and make sure that they can

to get to their challenges, overcome their challenges, and get to the roles and responsibilities they want to be. And I closed his remarks with uh a quote or how should I say uh something that Steve Jobs uh said at the Stanford commencement of June of 2005. Of course, we know he's no longer with us, but focus on connecting the dots of life and living authentically. I think if we all think about that statement and do exactly what he just focused on during his commencement speech, I think we're going to be a great district, a great community. >> Jobs was a toxic person. >> Okay. and [clears throat] and >> order, please. Thank you. >> And I think I think we could live a great and better life. So, I ask for your support tonight. You

know, my record and again, thank you for the nomination. Look forward to uh seeing how this turns out. Thank you, Mayor. >> Thank you, Dr. Dlo, Mrs. Shuffs. >> Thank you, Madame Mayor. Um, and thank you, Greg, for that overview. I mean, I agree with everything that you've said and what the school committee has done over the last two years and and over the decades that they've worked together. Um, we're talking here about why I'm running for chairperson. So, you know, I'm seeking the position of chairperson, not because I don't think that Greg has done a good job. I think that it's just that we have different things to bring to the table. And so, you know, this is my 39th year with Taton Public Schools. I did 36 years as a teacher, 13 of

those as an administrator. Um, my CAGS is in educational leadership. So, I've spent a lot of time in the leadership position, working with people, being collegiate with people, working on transparency, and I think my leadership skills um speak for themselves on um how I've run my department um the years that I was there. I also have extensive knowledge in curriculum um in special education. I was um the state's first um um apprentice teacher, so I actually came from industry and came into education. I also worked with the state on their portfolio assessment and I worked on that committee for about 10 years and presented at um Harvard University um over the summers on on portfolio assessment which is something that the in replace of the MCCAST there's going to be a big push um looking

at trying to do portfolio assessment back into the schools. So I think I can bring a lot to the table with that. Um I would I've served on four NEAS committees so I know about accreditation and um and I know about how we evaluate different systems that we have into place. Um I also h I also have a wide range of educational subcommittees that I have either been on or I have been a chairperson on. So I think that I um you know I bring budget and finance to that obviously running on the budget and financial subcommittee right now. I've done I ran the teacher mentorship program for the district for a while. Um I've been in SEI instruction. So when you look at all the different areas that go on within the district, I

have been a part of almost all of them in my career. So going into my 39th year here with Tottenham Public Schools. I agree with what Greg said. You know, when we when we run for these positions, you do that because you want to give back. And so we've all given back. And my whole career has been about giving back. if it wasn't as part of um Taton public schools, it was um you know, it was coaching, it was being part of my um church. And um I think I have a lot to bring to the table. I think that when you've looked at my leadership skills that I've had over the past two years, you you know that I'm someone that is willing to look at both sides of the of the aisle. many

times we haven't agreed on things and um uh Isaiah will attest to that, but we always have some nice dialogue about this and I I do have an open mind. So, I appreciate Melissa um you know um recommending me and as well as Carrie um seconding it and um I think I can bring a new perspective to the U school committee and I hope you would consider me for your vote. So, thank you. >> All right. Thank you, Mrs. Shoffs. Okay. So we will move forward now with the roll calls and we will first uh have a roll call for Dr. Dlo. >> Um Mrs. Mullen >> is it? >> So it's a yes or a no. >> Uh no. >> Mrs. Sh. >> No. >> Mr. Powski? >> No. >> Mrs. Fagan votes yes.

Uh Miss Santos. >> No. Mr. Ba. >> Yes. >> Mr. Laura. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, it is uh four yes and four no. Uh so then we will uh go on to Mrs. Shave's um to see how many votes. >> Yes. >> Which is going to be >> yes. Yes. >> No. >> Yes. >> No. >> Okay. So, it is 44. Um, I think what we will do at this time is have another round of voting, which we usually do. Um, I think it makes sense for me to do it a different way if that's okay with everyone. Yeah, that would that um I should have done it by a call of name. So, I apologize for that. Um so this um round of voting you will give the name of the person that

you're voting for. All right. >> We will do that. >> Yes please. >> Miss Mullen >> Shabs. Mr. Shabs >> Shabs. >> Mr. Powski. >> Shabs. >> Mrs. Fagan votes. Um Dr. Dlo. Uh Melissa. I'm sorry. Miss Santos. Mrs. Shabs. >> Dr. Gregory Dlo. >> Mr. >> Dr. Dlo >> and Mr. Dlo. >> Gregory Dlo. >> Dr. Dlo. >> Okay. Tai vote again. >> At this point, um, unless anyone would like to do one more round of voting, um, with just the committee members, uh, I will be voting also. All right. So seeing no interest in that um we will do the roll one more time and we will do that again by name. >> Mrs. Mullins >> Shaves >> Mr. Powski >> Mrs. Shaves [clears throat] Dr. Dlo Mrs. Santos >> Mrs. Shves >>

Mr. >> Dr. Dlo >> Mr. >> Dr. Dlo >> Gregory Dlo >> Mrs. Sh. Um 54 Mr. Shabs will be the chair and I think we'll be in a brief recess. Congratulations. All right, we are resuming um the committee meeting and next we have election of the secretary. Uh this will uh go the same way as the vote that we just did for chair with the floor being open for nominations. Does anyone need me to read the the kind of guidelines again? Okay. So I will then open the floor for nominations for secretary. Dr. Dlo, >> I nominate Christine Fagan for secretary. >> Second. >> Okay, there is a sec a motion and a second to nominate Christine Fagan for secretary. Are there any other nominations for secretary? Okay, seeing none, the floor is closed

for nominations. And do you do the roll call? >> I guess I guess you do. Okay, >> this mold Christine Fagan, Mr. >> Mrs. Fagan. >> Thank you. Um, Mrs. Fagan votes Mrs. Fagan. Uh, Mr. Miss Santos. >> Mrs. Fagan. >> Dr. Dlo. >> Mrs. Christine Fagan. >> Mr. Laura. >> Christine Fagan. >> And M. Oh, Chairman Shs. >> Mrs. Mrs. Fagan. >> Thank you. >> Okay. We miss. Okay. Excellent. And you for yourself, too. I did. >> Did you vote for yourself, too? >> Yes. [laughter] I just I just missed one. Okay. All right. Excellent. Um, thank you. Mrs. Fagan continues. >> I didn't think anybody else wanted to read all these other these these things every night. >> Okay. Now we do the drawing of the seat positions and >> Yes. Okay. So,

are they all separated? >> Oh, each Okay. So, I can just pass the bag around. Or am I going to walk the bag around? [laughter] >> Okay. >> Pass the bag. >> No, >> we pass. Okay. >> Oh, yeah. Here. >> I don't do the bag because I stay here. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. [snorts] >> Sure. >> Right. >> We're dying with anticipation. one. >> I'm seat number one. >> I didn't peek. I swear. >> Seat number five. >> Thank you. >> Seat number four. Number two. >> I got three. >> Mr. Vieier will be seat six. >> Okay. >> One, two, three. >> So, I'm taking your seat, Christine. >> No, you're not. You're taking Mr. Laura, what are you? >> Number four. >> He's four. He's taking your seat. Come here. >>

One, two, three. >> So, where where >> the first three seats? Mrs. Mullen's old seat is one is two. Mr. Powki, >> which one you going to? >> I have. >> So, you're right. You're right here. >> All right. >> You're right. Right there. And uh Mr. Vie is where you are. >> Right. Exactly. I'm going to go over there. >> Where's Steve? >> Steve Vier is the last one. >> He's where Laura is. Mr. Laura. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> So, I'm going number four. Okay, once we're all settled, >> I was hoping to get you. All right. >> Okay. Next on the agenda is approval of the minutes from December 17th, 2025. >> Approve the minutes as reported. >> Is there a second? >> Second. >> Motion and second to approve the minutes

of December 17, 2025. All those in favor? >> Opposed? None opposed? So voted. >> Student advisory committee report. We have with us Isaiah Wendell this evening. >> Thank you, Mayor. As Mayor Okonnell said, my name is Isaiah Wendle and I am part of the Taton High School student advisory committee. Um, I'd like to share a couple updates from Taton High School. First, I'd like to start by welcoming everyone back and wishing you a happy new year. I also want to welcome Miss Mullins to her first school committee member meeting following her swearing in. We're looking forward to working with you this year. Currently at Taton High School, new Chromebooks are being distributed to our 9th grade students um starting today and continuing throughout this week. I'll admit I'm pretty jealous cuz I didn't get one

when I was in nth grade, but um Dr. Harrison and his team has been working diligently and um distribution is expected to continue throughout this week. Academically, term two grades will be closing next Friday, January 16th, which also marks the end of the semester, semester 1. With that comes a lot happening at once. Term grades will close. Report cards will be released in the community portal later the following week. In addition, midterms and finals will take place with blocks A, B, and C testing on January 15th and blocks D, E, and F testing on January 16th. Both of these days will be half days with student dismissal at 11:50 a.m. After that, students will observe Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 19th, and will return to school on January 20th. At that point, students

who will or who are enrolled in halfyear CL courses will begin their new classes. All of this officially marks the halfway point of the school year. Time really does fly when you're having fun. And with that, that concludes my first student advisory committee report for the year 2026. Thank you for your continued support. >> Okay, thank you Isaiah. Halfway there. Excellent news. >> Motion to receive and place on file. >> Second. >> Motion to second. All in favor? Opposed? None opposed. So voted. Uh next we have public input and we do have um one person signed up for public input. Heather Bailey Gregorius. Um if you could join us at the podium. Uh if you could just state your name and address and I would ask that you keep to your comments to approximately three

minutes. >> Hi everybody. Uh my name is Heather Bis Gregorius. I live at 16 Belvoir AB apartment 1 in Taton. Um, I am here in defense of these students who on social media and in conversation are basically being called monsters. Um, the students who are causing rooms to be cleared, the students who are doing these things because they're not being supported in an adequate way. Um, but when you look at them being the minority of students with those types of behavioral problems, you end up with a very large angry mob of the other side. And I hate to see the district turning into these parents against these parents because that's what's happening. Your student is ruining my students experience. It's us against you. I agree with all of the things that staff have said in

their public input recently. Um, we sugarcoat a lot of things. There's a lot of things you probably don't know that go on. And I know you've heard many staff members speak up about stuff that happens in the classrooms, um, in the cafeterias, on the playgrounds. For every one person that speaks up, I'll tell you there's probably at least five more that are afraid to speak up. they're intimidated. Um, in the parents of the students with the high level of need in my professional career, I support those families. And if you were me and your job every day was to go to work and have people call you crying that you need help because your student is not being helped either at school or outside of school. It's easy to throw parents under the bus and

say, "Well, we can't do everything. You have to support your own student." Well, try a year and a half weight list for ABA services during after school hours. Try your health insurance doesn't cover that particular type of service and you don't have the capacity to repeatedly try to get it covered again and again and again. So, you're just defeated. Um, I assist with running parent support groups for these families. We can't get through a session without people crying. People need help. They don't need to be told, "Your children are horrible. Get them out of my classroom and get them out of my school." It is our job to educate them. No, we shouldn't have to clear classrooms. So, let's do something about it and support the students in the way they need to to prevent

that from happening in the first place. Thank you. >> Thank you, Mrs. Gregorius. >> Okay. At this >> Thank you. Uh at this time we have the election of the organizational committee and I will take a moment because that is a little bit different uh to read the guidelines on that. Uh the organization committee consists of three members of the school committee who will be nominated and elected by a majority vote of those present in voting. So again I will open the floor for nominations and they'll need a second. Um we'll follow the same procedures. Uh the committee shall serve for the two-year term following its election. The duties and responsibilities are that the members shall serve for two years commencement with the term. Uh they shall solicit input from each school committee member regarding

their interest in serving on subcommittees. A form will be provided to the members where they will indicate their interest. Whenever possible, the wishes of the members will be addressed. It shall it shall submit recommendations for the membership of the various subcommittees at the next meeting of the school committee to be held within two weeks after the first January meeting. So two weeks after this meeting, the committee may make a recommendation for a change in the day of the week and or the start time of the regular school committee. So is everybody clear? C. Uh I'm sorry, Dr. Dilla. Uh, I'd like to uh propose a slate of nominations if we're open. >> Okay. Yes, floor is open for nominations. Thank you. >> Great. Thank you, mayor. I'd like to propose uh the slate of Christine

Fagan, Nathan Powolski, and Gregory Dlo. Uh the three longest serving committee members as in past practice. Uh that's the slate for nomination. >> Okay, we have a slate for nomination. Are there any other nominations be it a slate or an individual for this organizational committee? >> Okay, seeing none, I >> Oh, um, thank you. Thank you, Dr. Mel. >> Second. >> Uh, motion [clears throat] and second. All those in favor? >> Opposed? None opposed are voted. Um, and so the organizational committee will consist of Mrs. Fagan, Mr. Powski, and Dr. DLO. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Mayor, if I may. >> Yes. >> So, um, on the actual organizational, uh, our committee members have had the, um, the information in their packets, I guess, for two school committee periods now. Uh, I thought we were

doing that tonight. >> If you all want to sit here and do it tonight, uh, you may do that. It says in the rules that it shall be done, uh, at the meeting, the next meeting. uh you guys can vote to do it tonight or you can do it at the next meeting as is stated in the rules. >> I mean, I'm just going off of past practice where we've always had the opportunity to do it tonight since tonight is a light agenda >> and u that's what I came prepared for that. So, >> if if that's the wishes of the committee, you can certainly do that. I would um I would just voice my disagreement with the practice of going into another room um to to do this where we are all sitting right

here right now. >> Can we do it here? >> Yeah. Oh, yes. Yes. >> All right. >> Fine with that. >> So um Oh, you know what? You the committee needs to elect a chair, too. So, I guess if you guys are going to do this tonight, you guys will start. We Everybody else can stay here, leave, do whatever you want. Um because it's a subcommittee meeting. Uh, and you guys can elect your chair and do your work. >> You want to do that publicly? I mean, we can do it right here. >> Uh, I I nominate uh Christine Fagan to be chair. >> Second. >> All those in favor, I guess. >> Oh, just >> Oh, yeah. I'm not on the committee. I'm sorry. This isn't me. Yeah. >> All in favor? Yes. >>

Yes. >> Good. So, you're the chair. Congratulations. Thank you. I'm not sure how you want to do this now. >> Do I don't have all the sheets of paper. I only have You want them Is there a blank sheet where he can just fill in the >> pick? Yeah, but we can change any time. Okay. That's because that automatically gets filled by the the um be she and I do that. That's that that's why that should I should have said that at first. >> CI sickly bank is you and I. That's what they always do. It's either me or you that sign. >> We just pick the ones committee. All right. like You should put that on your tombstone. >> Could go. could go either way. [laughter] >> Yes. Like the one that was on

your [laughter] You have to rate it from 1 to 11. One being your favorite. >> [clears throat] >> Everybody [snorts] remember >> just Are you finished? >> Are you finished? chair for each number. that way. >> No, it's okay. >> Thank you. Thank you. So, just Yeah, just to be clear, the subcommittee is the three of us we're doing in public, right? So, you guys can all hear, but unfortunately, nobody else can really take take part in the thing. So, all right. So, let's What's this? >> Is that somebody's That's right. >> That's Louis put your name on it. >> Yeah. >> One, two, three. >> Four. >> You know what I say to you? >> It's an 11. >> That's all right. It's all right. All right. I think I think we we need

a chairperson for everything. So, let's just add the chairs first and then we'll fill out the uh the thing. So, Okay. Okay. So, chapter 74. Did anybody put a number one on that? Chapter 74. Okay. Nobody put a number one, but Carrie put a number two and indicated that she would be interested in being the chair. So, let's hope Carrie's happy with being the um did anybody else have a two? I get a three. Nobody else had it too. So nice and easy. Carrie is the chairperson of chapter 24. All right. >> Steve is >> Steve had that is 11. No, sorry. Steve had that is number five. So all right. curriculum. [clears throat and cough] So, curriculum, we get a number four, we've got an 11, we've got a no, we've got an 11,

we've got a nine, get a two, uh we've got a one and we've got a one. All right, so that's easy. Carrie and Melissa both had number one, but since uh Carrie is already a chairperson, Melissa will be the chairperson of curriculum. Alrighty. Excellent. This is flowing well. All right. >> Community outreach 10. Community outreach. We got a number two. Community outreach number four. Community outreach. Seven. Eight. Eight. Two. and five. Okay. So, it is between Melissa and Dr. Dlo. So, Melissa is already a chairperson of curriculum. Dr. Dlo, are you good with being the chairperson of uh >> Yes. >> community outreach. All right. Perfect. Greg Dlo, chair person. All right. Excellent. Where were we? What do you mean? >> We're gonna fill We're going to put the chairs first and then we'll fill

out the thing. So, right. Every Does every committee have to have three people? >> Yes. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Three on each. Okay. >> Got it. Got it. >> Special. Okay. So, where were we? Elementary. So, we get a five. We get an eight. We get a six. Get a 10. Get a six. Ah, we got a one. Look at that. >> And we get a 10. And we get a six. So, that's easy. Louis Laura will be elementary. Louis Laura. >> Oh, do you want to have it back and put Yeah, there you go. There you go. >> And you can put some people have to be the chair of two committees. So I would say if you're interested in being the chair of two, go for it. Okay, why don't >> let's let's

fill one out and then we can do we can do switcheroos if uh we have to. Um all right, so where was I? So finance and law Dr. Dlo is number one. Finance and law. Seven. 11. Nine. Finance and law. Steve put that as number one. Finance and law. Nine. Uh, finance and law. Donna is going to one. Finance and law. 11. So, here's what we can do. So, we got three people put as number one. So, I'm going to go ahead and say that these three people will be on the committee. And since Dr. Dlo is the only one that put an asterisk, he will be the chair. So, Greg Dlo, chair. And then I'm going to say Donna Shav. And we're going to say Steve Vieier. >> So, finance and law is all

set. Perfect. >> All right. Think I think the system's working, guys. All right. High school sub seven. >> Uh, two. >> It's a two and a star. So, we'll put that there. High school six. High school six. High school two. High school 7. High school 4 >> and high school. That looks like seven. So, it is between You put an asterisk. All right. So, we'll put Steve. >> So, Steve's high school. Okay. Um All right. Long range planning. Long range. >> I Yeah, I put it lower. I've done it a couple times. My kids aren't there anymore, so I figure that's one that I know it's really good to be on, so I'd like to see it. Uh mix it up a bit. All right. Long range. So, we got a three, get a six,

we got a four, get a seven, five, >> eight, >> 10, >> nine. All right, so >> Steve. Yep. >> So, >> Steve, >> okay. Well, we got to make sure we got to make sure everybody >> Yeah. So, right. >> Uh, okay. >> Yep. Uh, Greg Dlo. Okay. Uh, let me just see here. Christine, Carrie, Melissa, Greg has two, Louie has one, Steve has two. So, Nathan needs one. Donna needs one and >> okay so >> myself and Donna are the only ones that are not shares yet correct >> okay >> so space utilization eight seven six hold on for clarity space utilization does not mean outer space right >> unless you want to do space exploration >> I mean I I'll be chair of the space. Okay. Oh, look at that. Number one

in chair, Mr. Palowski. Look at that. >> All right. And I stand alone. So, I am the spaceman. >> Look, look, look. I put you down. [laughter] >> Oh, that was you. You had odds. You were guessing. All right. Perfect. >> We're just doing chairs first, but we filled a couple out because So, all right. So, rules. We got a five. We get a six. Get an eight. >> 10. Boy, nobody wants to do rules. Four. >> Three. Three is the highest so far. Got two threes. We get an eight. And rules was five. So, it looks like we got two threes. So, we've got Melissa and Louie would both like to be in rules. So, I'm going to put you both in rules if that works for you. Um, You're both already chair >>

persons. So, I'll tell you what. I'm going to put you both I'm going to put them both down right now. We'll decide who the chair is later. So, I'm going to say uh Louie and Melissa on rules. All right. And then the last one is special programs. Seven. Is that a two? >> Have you won that now? >> Looks like a two. >> That's a two. >> Another two. No, now [clears throat] >> four. So, we got two and two. >> All right. So, >> this is special programs. So, we're going to say Nathan. >> No, I think she does. >> Yeah, she does. So, so we're gonna say we're gonna say >> Donna chair and then we'll put Nathan and Louie. Nathan and Louie. >> Okay. So, all right. So, let me find out

the third person to be on rules. >> What was that? >> Oh, no. This is >> Oh, okay. Okay. Rules was a number. So I had Louis I think I was the third highest for rules. So rules. >> No Donna put rules high. So we'll put Donna. Okay. [clears throat] So all right. So Melissa's got one. Louis's got one. So we can either give Louie or Alyssa. >> All right. Chairman of rules. So I tell you what, let's fill the rest of it out and then we can decide on that one to see because >> we got to have three people in each thing, right? All right. So we'll round out Yeah. Three people on each thing and nobody should have more than >> three. Yeah. >> Let me see. >> Let's see. Let's see.

Just want to make sure I get everybody here. Melissa, Donna, Steve, Lou, Carrie. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Okay, so Nathan is already on one. Christine is on one, not added or any others yet. Greg is on two already. >> Melissa is already on two. Donna is already on two. Steve is already on two. >> Louie is already on three. Louis already on three. So Louis is essentially done. >> No, >> she was an innocent woman. >> We can we can maneuver things around. We just got to we got to figure it out. So Carrie is on one. All right. So we're gonna start with athletics. So, we have a chair. >> All right. So, let's see. Dr. Dlo would like to be on athletics. >> So, Dr. Dlo and Steve is

currently on athletics, right? >> All right. >> Oh, yeah. >> So, Steve put it as a number four. You put it as a number three. So, I'm gonna say uh >> Greg Dlo. That gives you three. and then uh Steve that would give him three. Okay, I think that works. Perfect. So, athletics is all set. All right, so chapter 74. Let's look at that one. >> Chapter 74. Carrie is the chair. So, I put a three for chapter 74. Greg put a four. 10. 5. 11. Three, >> nine, two. All right. Yeah. So, Carrie's already on. All right. So, let's see. So, Christine, put it as a number three. Nathan, put it as a number three. And Greg, no, I don't. Um, not really. So, I'll put So, uh, let's see. So, Christine's only got

one. So, we're going to put Christine here. You good with that? >> All right. Christine is there. And then So, Greg, you're already on three. Do you want to be on a fourth committee? >> Oh, okay. Um, there we go. >> Greg Dlo >> and you're on four and chapter 74 is done. All right. Now, let's look at curriculum. [clears throat] Curriculum is Melissa and Carrie put it as a number one. Donna put it as number two. >> Uh Melissa's already on 11 nine four. No, and four. So we're going to go Donna and Carrie. So Donna, Carrie. So that's Donna and Carrie. All right. Curriculum is done. Perfect. Community outreach sit no community outreach. So 10 got a four community outreach. Got a two. >> Uh you are the chair already nine. But I

really enjoy >> eight, seven, >> two, >> and eight [snorts] >> and a five. Okay, so Nathan and Melissa, I think so. Melissa, that would give. So I'm going to say Melissa, Nathan, >> and that's three and two. All right, that works. Next one. Elementary. Elementary. My dear Watson. >> So Louie is already a good chair. He's a number one. Elementary. Five. Get a six. Get a six. Get a six. Uh oh. Not a lot of Let me see. Six. The next highest. >> Eight. One is Louis 10 and 10. All right. So, we've got let's see. So, three sixes here. So, Carrie's get two. Melissa and Melissa's already got three. So, we're going to say elementary. We're going to say Christine. So, Christine. Christine. And then elementary is either Nathan or Carrie. Um, you

know what? I've been on elementary before, so I'm going to say Carrie can go on elementary. So, we're going to say Carrie Mullen on elementary. And that's done. And that's three for Carrie. All right. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Now, high school. So, high school. Christine's got a two. Four for Melissa. High school 7. High school six. High school two. Steve is already the chair. High school. High school six. High school 7. And high school. That's a seven. So Melissa and Christine. >> Melissa Santos. Christine Fagan. That's Melissa. Good morning. There you go. >> Yeah, I do. You know where they have them? >> They have everything. The original shots. Massachusetts. >> All is where the streets How the hell would I know that? You're older than I am. >> What does that mean? >> Ernie

would know that, but I don't know. >> I remember I grew up right Well, that was when I started. >> Did you know that? I didn't know what it >> too much down. I told her good luck. You both got Is it appropriate for me to ask? I think once you're >> I think once you're done, you know, we we'll go to subcommittee reports. You can present it and um people can, you know, you can make as a committee you can make changes. I know you are. Mr. Palowski, I just got a question for you. Um, do do subcommittees ordinarily let other members participate if they're here? >> Because if you do practice that, then I I don't see a problem with it right now if you wanted to do that. >> Oh, I'm sorry,

Mrs. F. I'm just like Sorry. So, I'm going to go down the list. So, uh, athletics, the chair is Christine Fagan and Greg Dlo and Stephen Vieiraa are on athletics. Chapter 74, Carrie Mullen is the chair with Christine Fagan and Greg Dlo. Curriculum, Melissa Santos is the chair with Donna Shave and Carrie Mullen. Community outreach is Greg Dlo as chair with Melissa Santos and Nathan Palowski. Elementary, Louisa as chair with Christine Fagan and Carrie Mullen. Finance and law. Greg Dlo is chair with Donna Shavez and Steven Vieiraa. High school. Steven Vieiraa is chair with Christine Fagan and Greg Dlo. Long range. Steven Vieiraa is chair with Greg Dlo and Louis Laura. Space. Nathan Powski is chair with Christine Fagan and Donna Shave. Rules. Louis. We didn't assign the chair here. So gonna say Melissa. So

rules is Melissa Santos's chair with Louis Laura and Donna Shavez and special programs Donna Shave's chair with Nathan Palowski and Louis Laura. >> That make sense to you? >> Good to me. >> Right. >> Do you want anything? >> Oh god. We Yeah, that's right. All right. See, I knew this was going too smoothly. >> All right, we'll do the same thing. Okay. So, we'll do it like this. >> He hasn't done nurses therapy. Okay. And then sick. So sick is Donna and Christine Fagan. All right. So Donna and Christine. Okay. So I'm sorry. Let's let's go through it real quick. Are you saying there's somebody that can't >> Why? >> I don't understand what what does that mean? >> That's the TEA. So was this. >> Oh, >> who can make a judgment on

that? >> Excuse me, Mr. Cabraw. >> Just have some questions about conflict of interest. If you wouldn't mind, just we'll quickly go through everybody's and if you see any conflicts of interest, if you wouldn't mind Okay. Like >> Yeah. Okay. >> Okay. So, >> have a conversation in this meeting or have a conversation Yeah. So, she put an X there. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I don't know, man. I'm gonna defer to you guys. You get a lot more experience on that. So, >> so I think I tend to I think I tend to agree with you there. >> So, we'll we'll do that. Um, anything else? >> MTABody has a husband, wife, son, daughter. Okay. So, that's that's what you were saying. >> Okay. But not >> together. [clears throat] >> This one. >>

Okay. Okay. >> Anything here? >> Yeah. No. All right. Christine, nothing. So, He doesn't count as this though. >> Okay. Well, >> okay. He put it as a seven. >> He put that as he doesn't have any. >> Okay. See, I put administrator because my wife's an administrator even though she's not >> He didn't want to be a secretary. >> Yeah. So, my mom's retired. Um, my wife is not in the union anymore, but still I don't know. It doesn't matter. I'm not going to be on every committee. So, um, >> any here? >> No, I don't think so. >> And then she's looking at a one. It's a two. I think he doesn't have any complaints, right? >> All right. So, we're good. Then we'll go through All >> [clears throat] >> right. So,

five one. >> All right. So, I think our three ones will be on and uh I certainly don't want to be the chair person, so we'll go with the seniority and we'll give it to Mr. Steve. So, we're going to go Steve Vieira. cafeteria. So, we're going to go Steve. We're going to go Nathan. And we're going to go Carrie. All right. Very good. Custodians. We got a three. We've got a looks like a two, six, six, [snorts] six, two, two, and two. All right. Well, we got a lot of lot of love for the custodians here. >> So, there's me, [laughter] >> Steve, Louie, and that's a three. All right. So, >> right. That's a two. I'm going to discount him for having poor handwriting. >> Um, >> uh, what do you guys say?

So Steve and I were on it this last go around. >> Um, >> yeah, we'll do that. All right, so we're going to go. See, did anyone put an asterisk? We all put two star there. She wanted to be cafeteria, but okay. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to make her >> chairperson of this because she wanted cafeteria. I think that works. And then we go Steve Viera. And we go Nathan. I haven't been doing this. So, Steve, Nathan Palki, Carrie Mullen, we go Carrie Mullen, Steve, and Nathan. All right. And I already did those. So, perfect. All right. Secretaries and assistants. Seven. No, three. Seven. Two. Five. Four. And three. >> Yikes. All right. Yeah. No, she wants to do the share. Yeah. >> So, Donna, share Christine, you're good. And

then Jeez, I'm already on three of these, huh? Go ahead and say, let's see. Did anybody have a four? >> Yeah, Carrie's already got two here as well. Oh, yeah. All right. Then I'll put me I get three. All right. >> Okay. Secretary. So now we're on unit A. Okay. Got a seven. We got four. We got a two. No. One. Seven. Would >> you like to do chair? Okay. >> Dr. Steven VR. So that's three for Steve. >> I'll get that. All right. Unit B. >> It be five. So say Greg Dlo share >> Louis Laura. So Greg Dloa and then Carrie. Yep. And that's three for Carrie. So Carrie Mullen. She's three. Go. All right. Nurses five. Seven. Three nurses seven nurses one, right? One >> nurses three and nurses six. So what

do we got here? Four. >> All right. So we'll go Louis Laura as chair. Okay. And then let's see. go out and goine Fagan and Greg Dlo. So Christine Fagan and Greg Dlopp tapped. All right, then we go. Oh, the last one. TT aa Tessa. So that's four, five. three. >> No, four and four. >> So, Melissa's not on it yet. >> Said no that. So, let's see. What do we got to do here? >> So, we've only got three spots left. So, no. >> Yeah. Go ahead. >> All right. So, hold on. Let me see. So, Steve has a chair. Car's got a chair. [clears throat] A chair. Steve has a chair. >> Has a chair. Yep. >> That's how we >> got >> Okay. >> Yes. So, so here's my problem. Um, I

don't have her on anything yet. So, we got to pick. Yeah, let's do this. So, cafeteria. Okay, that's easy. I can just come out of cafeteria and put put uh Melissa here. I can go here. Okay. So, that gives her one and I stay at three. All right. Custodians. Custodians. So, Yeah, but I it doesn't matter to me. I can I can move around. No, no, I can't be I but I can't go there twice, so that doesn't quite work. Uh, number three. Number four, we said nothing. So, five nurses. Do either one of you want to swap with Melissa so she can be on nurses? >> Do either one of you guys want to move to TTAa? I mean, we >> uh I don't I don't know. >> Yeah. They had a piece of

paper to fill out. Yeah, maybe. [clears throat] >> I love you, too. >> All right, let me see. All right. So, Greg, are you good to move to the TTA? Perfect. So, we'll make all Let me I'll figure it out. All right. So, we need one more. >> So, we put we put Donna then. Uh, TTA, >> right? [cough and clears throat] >> So, Greg's already on it. >> You're a four. It's a five. It's a five. That's No. three >> and three. So, >> so Carrie, Steve, and Donna all put threes for it. And Donna's only on two. So, I'm going to put Donna there. >> And Okay. So, who shall be the chair? So, Nathan and Melissa do not have chairmanships. >> What' you say? >> Let's see. So you having fun doing

here? So this is only two [cough and laughter] people. >> All right. It was a good >> retired. >> All right. So, [clears throat] >> so for cafeteria, I got Sierra as chair with Melissa and Carrie. >> Custodians, I've got Carrie as chair with Stephen and Nathan. >> Secretaries, I've got Donna as chair with Christine and Nathan. >> Unit A, Christine's chair with Greg and Steve. Unit B, Greg as chair with Louie and Carrie. I got nurses with Melissa as chair with uh Louis and Christine. And then I've got TTA with Louis as chair, Greg and Donna. And then sick is Donna as chair and Christine. >> So >> yeah. Is that all legible? You want me to rewrite? Let me You know what? I'll re I'll rewrite it clean. I'll rewrite it clean for

you. So, we're going to say is I'm gonna say chair like this. So, Christine actually know what do you want to write it and I'll read it to you is that way if I just rewrite you want to read it off to you and you write it in your own handwriting. >> Are you like are you good reading this? Because I'm like if I rewrite it it's just going to be more monkey writing. Okay, >> here. Sit down. >> This chair doesn't do much like the other one. >> I never had good. >> Did you go to Catholic school? Did you? >> I did not go to Catholic school. >> They give you good penmanship. >> I tried. I remember Mrs. King, my fourth grade teacher. She really tried to get me. >> Let me

do this for you. It's easier. So Christine Fapine [clears throat] curriculum Melissa Santos [clears throat] chairs >> the first time I've been on ages >> community outach Chair Melissa Santos Elementary bringing computer Excel spreadsheet >> high school% Special. What's this? Space. Space. >> Space cadets. >> Nate Paulski. Chair. >> Christine Fagan. Donna. >> Make you all watch that movie. The Mart >> Melissa Santos chair. >> Louis. What's the last special cafeteria >> Stevie chair Melissa Santos car >> custodians Steve, >> secretaries and assistants, >> Donna's chair, Christine, >> teaches chair Laura >> nurses chairine. >> No, I'm sorry. Sorry. Melissa Santos. Melissa Santosine. Louis is chairg [clears throat] Can we make photo copies of that and give people >> so pass them back to everybody and then we'll get them back at the end. >>

I already did it. Wouldn't it be easier if I just go photocopy everything right now? >> Well, we're going to read them out. do it as >> beautiful. Beautiful. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> I just want this for the record. Take all the original. >> I know what you mean. [clears throat] You >> all set, Cynthia? >> Whenever. Just tell me when you're all set. >> Okay. >> We all breathlessly awaiting this. Oh, is somebody missing? Oh, just Steve. Right. Okay. So if the sub can may I just for a moment I'm sorry did you have something Mr. Santos? >> Yeah. So I was I was going to say um according to our agenda that will come under subcommittee reports um under J if you >> Oh okay. >> Yeah I didn't realize that

either until I took a better look at it. So mayor >> um so that is next. I'd like to make a motion to go out of regular order of business uh to have the subcommittee reports organization subcommittee report out because we can't conduct the administrative business especially the FY26 bills without a chair finance and law. >> Second that >> um motion and second uh which is fine. My understanding was the whole committee would vote on the um the FY21 bills payable but >> we can do >> whatever that's fine. I thought you couldn't do one without the other. Okay then. So you okay with that then order agenda? Yes. >> Okay. Great. Thank you, Dr. Dlo. All right. So, then we will go to I, which is administrative business, and I would entertain a motion

uh to approve the bills payable. >> Um, a motion to approve bills payable in the amount of $1,36,116. >> Second that. >> All right. So, there's a motion in a second. Are there any questions or comments, Dr. Dlo? >> On discussion, mayor. Thank you. Uh, I'd like to be recorded uh on page 19. Uh, voucher number I'm sorry, invo. Yeah, voucher number 264044. Scratch that. PO number 2602121 in the amount of $5,376 payable to Pride, Inc. I'd like to be recorded as present as I serve as co- treasurer and on the board of directors. >> Okay. >> Page 19. I I didn't get the u Mrs. Shavez is asking for the >> Can you read the amount again, please? >> Page 19, PO number 2602121 in the amount of $5,376 to Pride, Inc. >> Okay.

And so Dr. Muller is excusing himself. Yes. >> Is there any other uh questions or comments? >> As a maker of the motion, would you amend that as part of the motion? I'll make the amendment to >> to accept his >> accept the changes or the is it the changes >> the amendment yes and I will >> agree to that second motion. >> All right. So there's a motion and a second all those in favor. >> Opposed? None opposed. So voted. Thank you. And now we go to subcommittee reports and it will be the report of the organizational subcommittee. Mrs. Fagen. Oh, did I skip something? Oh, I'm sorry. [laughter] >> All right. So, next we have um two, three, and four, contracted legal services, staffing report, Taton Public Schools staffing update. If there's no

objection and there's no questions or comments on those items, I would entertain a motion to receive all three and place on file. >> Second. >> Motion and second. All those in favor? Opposed? None opposed? So voted. Thank you. >> Now we go to subcommittee reports. Uh organizational subcommittee, Mrs. Fagan. >> Okay. So, I'm going to read these in the order that we did them. So, athletics, uh, Christine Fagan is chair, Greg Dlo, and Steve Vera round out that subcommittee. Chapter 74, Carrie Mullen is chair, uh, myself and Greg Dlo. Curriculum chair is Melissa Santos. Um, oh my goodness, what am I doing there? Sorry. Oh, it's you, Donna. All of a sudden, I'm looking at DC and I went off into thinking of Washington DC. I don't Sorry. Yeah. So, the uh the chairs Melissa

Santos, Donna Shabs, and um Carrie Mullen run curriculum, community outreach, Greg Dilllo, Melissa Santos, Nate Palowski. Am I going too fast? Figure. >> Okay. All right. Elementary Louis Laura Chris is the chair Christine Vagan and Carrie Mullen finance and law Greg Dlo Donna Shabs and Steve Vieiraa high school Steve Vieiraa as chair uh myself Christine Fagan and Greg Dlo round out the high school long range planning Steve Vieiraa is chair Greg Dlo and Louis Laura space. Uh Nate Palowski is chair, Christine Fagan and Donna Shabs. Rules Melissa Santos is chair. Uh Lou Laura and Donna Shabs and special program Donna Shabs, you're the chair. Nathan Palowski and Louis Laura. Now, as far as the the next group of things, the bargaining committees, cafeteria, Steve Vieira is chair, Melissa Santos, and Carrie Mullen. Custodians, Carrie Mullen

is chair, Steve Vieiraa, and Nate Powski. Secretaries and assistants, Donna Shabs is chair, Christine Fagan, and Nate Powski. Unit A, which is the teachers, is Christine Fagan as chair, Greg Dlo, and Steve Vieiraa. Unit B, which is the uh Oh, God. >> Administrators, Greg Dlo is chair, Louis Laura, and Carrie Mullen. Nurses, uh, chairman is Melissa Santos, Christine Fagan, and Louis Laura. TTA is Louis Lure as chair, Greg Dlo, and Donna Shaves. And the sick bank automatically goes to Donna Shabs and myself, Christine Fagan to um that's the sick bank is. We just sign on that. So that's rounded it out. Does anybody need anything repeated comments? >> The community engagement subcommittee. >> What is it? Community >> the community engagement. Community Engagement Subcommittee to be repeated. >> Oh, a community outreach, you mean? >>

Okay, I'm sorry. Greg Dlo is chair, >> Melissa Santos, and Nate Powski. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Okay. Madame Mayor, >> Miss Santos, I'm sorry, Miss Santos did have her hand. >> I just wanted to make a motion to accept the recommendation, then going to discuss it. >> Okay. >> So, I'll make a motion to accept the the recommendation of the >> motion. Second to accept committee recommendation on discussion. Um I'm trying to figure out why I was um marked as conflict of interest under secretar's assistance in Taton Therapy Assistance Association. >> Okay. Does anyone from the committee want to address that? >> Mr. There there isn't. It's the unions you're with, right? I would I would say it was a former member of one of the bargaining subcommittees. I would advise not to serve

on the bargaining subcommittees that we have. And anyone who is a member of a bargaining subcommittee or affiliated with the bargaining subcommittee, I would recommend that they not serve on those bargaining committees as an apparent could be an apparent conflict of interest. That would be my recommendation. >> Okay. So you're saying my affiliation as an MTA member makes me a conf it's a conflict of interest because they're represented by my union. >> I would say could be >> but I currently serve on both. So I'm just confused um because it wasn't a conflict of interest two years ago and I've been a MTA member for over 12 14 years. So I don't understand what's changed. >> It could be that >> overlooked two years ago. >> Also an MTA, Madame Mayor, please not reference other

members by name. Uh I will be uh recusing myself from the MTA through to the Janice law. So as effective very very soon, I will not be an MTA member. So please do not refer to other members. Thank you. >> Okay. Madam, Madame Mayor, >> is that something we need a clarification on from the MTA? >> So, I would suggest if you're not going to accept the report or you can vote against it at this point, uh, you could get an opinion from state ethics. >> Dr. Deal. >> Thank you, Mayor. Yeah. Again, an organizational subcommittee just any other subcommittee is formed, voted on, uh, presented, uh, you know, their recommendation. It can be voted up, voted down, and go from there. Basically, I don't I don't think we need legal opinion. I mean, I

think we're all here as a body. So, that's my my two cents worth. Thank you, >> Miss Santos. >> But you're not allowing me my my second and my third my other my first choice. you're not allowing me my first choice because you're making this decision already when I've already been on that I'm we're still bargaining on that committee now. So would that mean that if we ratify the contract that that's null and void because I was on the committee and it's a conflict of interest. >> Well, so I I think conversation between members should you know should be directed at the chair. Um I uh Mr. Powelski may have some information for that if uh you want to speak. >> I think you um just to comment as a member of the committee. Um

I I wouldn't see anything wrong with seeking um expert advice because to be honest with you, I I don't know. You know, I I uh the discussion was raised about a potential conflict of interest. We try to avoid that. But um I think if anybody really feels strongly about being on a committee, we do want to give everybody that that that choice. you know, we tried to go through this thing and give everybody their first choice. Um, obviously certain things uh were eliminated due to actual conflicts of interest. This was a question. I don't think anybody had a direct solid answer on it. That's why we asked uh Superintendent Cabraw to weigh in. So, I don't see anything wrong with getting some input before we make a final decision. >> Thank you, Miss Powki. Dr.

Dlo. >> Thank you, Madam Mayor. Uh I if the maker of the motion would split out the motion and make a motion to accept the recommendations of the organization subcommittee for the regular 11 committees posted and defer the bargaining uh till the March uh January 17th meeting. I think that would be most appropriate so our colleague can further investigate and find out. I would be very agreeable to that motion splitting it up and then on the 17th we'll get a ruling as to uh your questions, Miss Santos. >> Okay. So, and and there's a second to finish. >> So, who who made the second? Who second? I made the motion. >> Who? I think you made >> I seconded it. >> I seconded your motion. >> So, so there's a motion >> motion to approve

Oh, I'm sorry. the regular committee >> recommendation and the bargaining subcommittees by the 17th will make a determination at that time once we get a ruling as to her questions miss center questions >> second on the motion >> okay so motion and second on discussion superintendent >> clarification are we referring this to attorney for an opinion >> I'm sorry >> referring this to attorney Brunt for an opinion >> attorney who >> attorney Kobe Brunt >> oh Kobe yes I'm sorry I always call her Kobe Yeah, >> for just the bargain bargaining >> bargaining committees. So, we're all click Mrs. >> We can also contact the MASS, MASC, the Mass Association of School Committees, too. >> Yeah. >> About that because they they talk about conflict of interest all the

time. It's amazing the things that become a conflict of interest. is just to avoid the >> I you know I I think it would be appropriate to ask the school's attorney and he would probably advise whether or not Mrs. Santos herself needs to contact um because usually organizations will not give you an ethics or a um an opinion of someone else. They have to be the one to initiate it. So >> you start there I think and then go somewhere else if if need be if that's the advice. So >> if I can just add I'll just say I take the the conflict of interest state ethics every single year and it has never come up. I take it for every college I have to teach at at whether it's mass soya for community college

bridgewater and here I've never seen it come up in that test. So I just want to because if it ever did then I would have of course said I would have profused myself if it had ever come up but it never came up and it hasn't come up for these two years. So I'm just really concerned as to why now it is coming up. It feels a little bit more personal than anything. >> Okay. >> I just wanted to say >> yeah uh and you know I think it's important to note that um the committee is uh you know making decisions uh right here this evening and I are doing making decisions that they think is in the best interest of the school committee not personal decisions and so we'll move forward in this manner.

I think everybody will hopefully get the answers that they want and be satisfied. All right, so there's a motion and a second on the floor. Uh, all those in favor? >> Opposed? None opposed. So voted. >> Okay. Uh, new business. Ms. Santos, did you want to address that? >> Yes. So, um, this came up at our what was it? December 17th meeting. Um, so I had brought up under new business, um, the idea to review our policies, which all online everybody it's available to the public um but part of my inquiry kind of came with some questions about school visits so on and so forth and then I started really you know going through some of them and I thought it would be appropriate for us as a committee to review them and so I

would like to refer this um policy review for uh January 28th for the school committee retreat >> so moved >> second I made the motion Second. >> Oh, I thought I thought Melissa I'm sorry. I thought Miss the motion. Oh, you requested the motion. >> I request >> My apologies. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Laura. >> Motion in second. All those in favor? I >> opposed. None opposed. So voted. Okay. Um unfinished business is just the action item update. If there's no business with that, we can move on. Okay. Um press time. No press here at this point. And I will >> motion to adjurnn. >> Second. >> Motion to adjurnn and second. All those in favor? >> I opposed. None opposed. So voted. Thank you everyone. >> Want these back right? I want these
