go away. Graduates, please be seated. Good evening everyone. Thank you all for joining us on this momentous occasion to celebrate the class of 2026. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Dylan Ramirez, the student body at Moon Valley High School, and it is an honor to speak on this stage today. We've all grown so much these last four years, more than we ever have before. We have all accomplished so much and through everything thrown our way, we stand here today. Many achieved what they set out to be. Some of us came just shy. But I can gladly promise you, we are all better off from where we started. But as many others are going to tell us when we walk outside today, this is only the beginning. The journey after high school will
be a lot like an unfamiliar road. It will have its ups, its downs, its signs telling you to stop, to slow down, and even those people who try to swerve in your lane every once in a while. But if high school has taught me anything, it's that no matter where you're going, it's a drive that shouldn't be alone. We are here today not only because of our motivation and our dedication, but because of those who were with us along the way. Those who guided us when we felt lost, those who encouraged us when the road got difficult, and even those who just made the ride just a little bit better. I've learned if you want to go fast, you go alone. But if you want to go far, you go with others. And I know
some of you are looking at me like, "What's with the driving analogies?" He doesn't even have his license. And it's true. I'm a certified passenger princess. But if there's something that everyone else will tell you when you walk outside today, it's that it's not about where you start. It's about where you finish. Thank you to the teachers who stepped up and took the wheel when we needed them the most. Mr. Kacowski, Mr. J, Miss FCO, Miss Carmona, your leadership truly inspires me. Thank you to the friends who gave me those rides when I needed them the most. Those really were some great trips. And thank you to my family, my mom, my dad, my brothers, who would move mountains to help me succeed and be on this stage today. Class of 2026, wherever life takes
you next, I hope you all never forget about those who helped us get here. Congratulations and drive safe. We are most fortunate to be supported by a caring district administration and governing board. Governing board member Paul Ulan is with us this evening. Also with us is Superintendent Matt Beldin. Thank you both for being here tonight. Moon Valley High School confers its highest academic honors by designating the top 1% of the graduating class. I am pleased to present the three students who hold the highest academic ranking in this class of 295 members. These students will graduate tonight with the highest distinction wearing a gold medallion. I ask them to please stand as I call their names. Sophia Gomez A Albadri and Lena Win. These students have a combined weighted GPA of 4.99 and are in the
top 1% of our senior class. Please join me in congratulating them on their hard work and academic achievements. We're also joined by Moon Valley High School student body president Dylan Ramirez and again Ya Albadri the 2026 senior class president. Both of these young adults should be commended on their leadership and passion for Moon Valley. Their commitment to Moon Valley is a true reflection of the many great things we have seen from the class of 2026. I would also like to acknowledge those students who are ranked academically in the top 10% of their class. They are wearing red cords this evening. And while I may not present them to you individually, let me draw your attention to their names which are marked in your commencement program and ask you to applaud their accomplishments as an as
honor graduates. Lastly, please also note those students wearing a red, white, and blue arord this evening. These students will be entering the military upon graduation. Would you please show your appreciation for these graduates as well? At this time, we'll hear from our three members of the top 1%. We will start with Miss Sophia Gomez. >> Good evening everyone. My name is Sophia Gomez and I am incredibly honored to be speaking to you today. Graduating is an amazing accomplishment encapsulating all the years of work we have put in. Your family, friends, and teachers are all so proud of you. As for my time in high school, I do not regret a single part of it. I found the friends. I stayed up far too late FaceTiming trying to get our work done together. I relished in
the class group tasks where we begged for homework answers. I found intellectual nourishment within my teachers who greatly supported me. And ultimately, while I am somewhat uncertain about my own future, high school helped me discover pieces of who I am and who I hope to become. I want to credit a few people who have shaped my high school journey. I'd like to thank Miss Saraphini for her endless support in and out of the classroom. Miss Thomas for her patience and conversation, Mr. Peters for his humor and passion, and Miss O'Neal for her kindness and guidance, and Miss Sturdy for her reassurance and compassion. To my mother, it is. And to my sister Sabrina, you are my best friend, my biggest cheerleader, and my inspiration. I truly cannot have asked for anyone better. And finally, to
my father. Although he passed away during my sophomore year, his memory only strengthened my determination and inspired me to keep pushing forward. Everything I have accomplished has been in part for him. I know he would be proud to see me here tonight. As we move forward, I hope we remember that it is okay not to have everything figured out right now. Life will change and so will we. Tonight, be extra sentimental. Sentimental. Hug your family a little tighter. Thank your friends and let the people who supported you know just how much they mean to you. I'm honored to have been a part of this class. To the class of 2026, congratulations and good night and safe drive. Good evening everyone. My name is Ya Albadri and it is truly an honor to stand before you
tonight. When people talk about high school, they usually talk about the things they learned in classrooms. The formulas memorized at midnight, the essays written minutes before class, the notes scribbled into the margins of packets we swore we would look back on someday. And don't get me wrong, those lessons mattered. But when I think about the person I became during these past four years, I do not first think about the grades that I got or the assignments I did. I think about the people sitting beside me because somewhere between first period and graduation, the people around me became my teachers, too. Marina, Victoria, Julian, and my best friend, Lara, I'm so sorry, taught me that soulmates are not always romantic. Sometimes they are simply the people who become part of who you are. David taught me
that kindness can live in the smallest moments. Net and Admundo taught me the importance of peace and gentleness. Jada taught me the power of spirit. Alyssa and Aaliyah showed me the value of showing up unapologetically. Erica taught me to stand firm in who I am. Marty taught me that laughter matters. Freda taught me what bravery really looks like. Melissa taught me the importance of moving forward. Legend taught me to pave my own path and stick with it. Ahmed taught me to be fully present in every conversation I have. Emory taught me passion. And Julius and John taught me that embarrassment is often just an unexplored feeling. And finally, the people who shaved me long before I ever stepped into a classroom. My parents. The two people who gave me my name before they even knew
who I would become. Much like many here, my parents left behind everything familiar so that I could have opportunities they never did. They came to a country that asked them to start over completely to learn new systems, new customs, new languages. And somehow they still carried hope throughout all of it. And despite how exhausting that must have been, they still built a home filled with love, faith, and dreams bigger than their circumstances. Everything I know about sacrifice, perseverance, and strength, I learned from them. As they guided me past these 18 years, I do not know if they ever realized that the people I most wanted to become were them. Thank you, Mama and Baba, for everything. Everything good in me began with you. And today, while we celebrate the graduates sitting in these chairs, I
also want to celebrate the parents who crossed oceans, worked impossible hours, and sacrificed quietly so their children could dream loudly. If you are the child of immigrants, would you please stand so we can honor your parents today? Don't be scared. Go ahead and stand. I know how it feels. And although immigrants and their contributions are often undermined, dismissed, and too often painted as villains, I hope today serves as a reminder of who they truly are. They are raising the next generation of workers, your teachers, your leaders, your change makers, your doctors. And whether this country recognizes it enough or not, their sacrifices are shaping the future sitting in front of you today. Thank you. Good evening families, friends, faculty, teachers, and most importantly the class of 2026. Hi, my name is Lena and I'm extremely
grateful for this opportunity opportunity to speak in front of all you on this day that resembles our achievements over the past four years. I remember sitting in those bleachers four years ago, praying for the day to come where I can sit down here. Now that the day has come, I really don't want this to end. I remember constantly wanting to grow up and be older than what I was. But these four years of my life made me realize so much more about not only others, but most importantly myself. This journey has definitely changed me in ways I cannot describe. I started to take care of myself more and truly prioritize things dedicated to my future. I also realized that I really love to socialize. I came out of my shell and became my genuine self
around people. I believe this is truly a gift that my high school experience has given me. And I've met so many people that I can call friends for life, especially the ones over there. If the person I was four years ago heard me say that, she would definitely not believe me. I discovered the confidence to take chances and even risks. I came across a difficult decision during my junior year. As I tried so hard to keep up my grades to earn my spot in the top 1%, I was afraid to risk my spot and join a program that would prioritize my future. However, I took this chance despite everything I was considering. And now I've proudly become one step closer to becoming EMT certified. And I'm still able to be up here on this stage
speaking to you today. I now want to mention my siblings, Alan, Anna, and Tina. Thank you for putting up with me for the past 17 years. I know my stubbornness, tears, and everything in between must have been really annoying. But thank you for still supporting me from behind. You guys truly inspire me and push me to be the best version of myself. And before this moment comes to an end, I want to dedicate my success to my biggest motivators, my parents. Now, I want to say this to my fellow classmates. We finally made it. But this isn't the end. This is the beginning of a new journey into a world full of new possibilities. And again, congratulations to the class of 2026. This is another chapter completed in your story. Sprayed my name on a
water tower. carved it in an old cottonwood tree. Signed a bunch of high school books so they wouldn't saw my daddy's name in it. It's how they remember you. >> Did you stand or did you fall? Build a bridge or build a wall or give it all? What did you do? What did you do? Did you make them laugh? Did you try your dreams? What did you choose? What did you choose? When it all comes down to your last dollar, will you give or will you take? When the stiff blows the hardest will break it ain't a question of how they did Build a bridge or build a wall. When it all comes down, itin't >> how they how they how they remember you. How they how they how they how they remember you. They remember you At this time, I would like to present board member Yulan with special remarks to our senior class. Paul Yulan began serving on the GHSD governing board in 2025. As a member of the Glendo Union High School District governing board, I am here to say congratulations. Job well done on your on your graduation. The 2025 2026 school year has been one for the record books. Moon Valley High School's had
many outstanding students and academic and athletic uh accomplishments. Accomplishments and feats that will stand for the test of time and be remembered for many many years. Graduates, today is a celebration of your hard work, preservation, and resilience. Completing high schools are a tremendous accomplishment and doing so at one of the finest high schools in the valley makes this milestone even more meaningful. You have pushed through challenges, discovered your strengths, and found your voice. Be proud. Treasure this moment. Treasure this day. It is all about you. But no one reaches this stage alone. Today is also about the people who stood beside you, the families who encouraged you, believed in you, and supported you through uh very late nights and early mornings. And your teachers, those who challenged you, guided you, and saw potential in you
even when you didn't see it yourself. Their belief in you helped you bring here bring you here today. As you turn the page to your next chapter, whether that's college, a career, the military, or another path, carry with you the values, lessons, and confidence you gained at Moon Valley High School. You are prepared, you are capable, and you are ready to take on the world. On behalf of the entire Glendel Union High School District governing board, congratulations, class of 2026. We are proud of you and we cannot wait to see where you go from here. Hello again. You already know who it is. My name is Ya Aladri and I had the privilege and pleasure to serve as this year's senior class president. As we see her today, I want to redirect you to the
invitation you hold in your hands. Our class motto, the words we chose to represent us come from, oh the places you'll go by Dr. Seuss. For many of us, that book was one of the first stories we ever read in school. We sat cross-legged on colorful mats as our kindergarten teachers flipped through the pages, pointing to the bright illustrations and reading about all the places life could take us. Back then, the future felt so far away, huh? Now, we don't wear velcro shoes. We don't sit on colorful mats. We sit here today in caps and gowns, preparing for the next chapter of our lives. Some of us are heading to college, some into careers, some into the military, and some are still discovering what path is right for them. But nonetheless, all of us are
moving forward. And I think that's why this book still matters to us. It reminds us that life is uncertain, exciting, difficult, and grateful all at once. And that Everyone of us is capable of going farther than we ever imagined as children. It is also my pleasure to announce this year's senior gift. With the support of our amazing class sponsor, Miss Fiser, we will be flying a Moon Valley alum from New York back to Arizona to paint a mural in our cafeteria. Years from now, when new students walk through these halls, they may never know all our names, but they will still see something we left behind. A reminder that the class of 2026 was here. and we believed in leaving this place better than we found it. Before we officially close this chapter, we wanted
to take one last look back at the memories that brought us here. The friendships, the late nights, the football games, the spirit weeks, the moments that felt small at the time but became part of who we are. So now, it is my honor to introduce the senior video. But before you go, I want to say one more thing. No matter where you're off to next, I truly believe you will all do great things. Congratulations, CL class of 2026. And here's that video. >> I wish there was a way to know that you were in the good old days before you've actually left them. It is my pleasure as principal of Moon Valley High School to certify that these students have met the requirements for graduation as set forth by the state of Arizona and the Glendel Union High School District. Accordingly,
I present this class to Paul Yulan of the Glendel Union High School District Governing Board. Mr. Yulan, I respectfully request that you accept these graduates and that you and Mr. Beldin confer diplomas upon them. As a member of the Glendale Union High School District governing board and by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the state of Arizona, I accept and confirm that the Moon Valley High School class of has met the requirements for graduation. Mr. Gold, please present the graduates to receive their diplomas. In order for this ceremony to belong to each graduate, it must belong to them all. Therefore, our senior class and faculty request that all guests act with courtesy, avoiding excessive cheering when names are called so each graduate's name may be clearly heard by everyone.
