Chelsea Brand [cheering and applause] Hungwin, [cheering and screaming] Aaron Lee. [cheering] These three students have taken over 60 honors and AP classes during their time at Greenway with a weighted GPA of 5.095. [applause] They are an outstanding representation of academic excellence and rank in the top 1% of their graduating class. We are also joined by Green Greenway High School student body president, Miss Fedra Hwlet, [cheering] and our 2026 senior class president, Miss Ramsay Hy. [screaming] [cheering] Thank you. You guys may be seated. At this time, let me direct you to your program. You will see a legend identifying students with special recognition. Not only is this denoted

in your program, but you will see many students walk across the stage tonight with cords and stools celebrating their many accomplishments throughout their high school career. Additionally, you'll notice a number of students walking across the stage with special medallions. These medals represent their achievements on the ACT, earning a composite score of a 21 or higher, which is significantly higher than the state average. Students, I commend your achievements. Whether that's being ranked in the top 10%, wearing an ACT medal, earning an art seal, joining the military, or earning a famous gold jeep for being part of a varsity sport for three seasons. This class is incredible and have earned $15 million and counting in scholarships and grants. [applause] And with that, that brings us to our first speaker this evening. Please join me in welcoming Miss

Chelsea Brand. [cheering] >> [applause] >> Hello families, guests, and graduates. My name is Chelsea Bran, and I'm so honored to be speaking here today. I want to begin with one of my favorite songs, Let It Happen by Tam Paula. Ironically, when listening to the song in the past, I'd ignore the central message of the song and just skip to my favorite part. Eventually, I realized that skipping through the song was kind of similar to how I've been treating parts of life. I'm sure you've all been there. Sitting in class, bored out of your mind. Sometimes I'd put my head down for five minutes and then look up and only three minutes pass. Other times, I've experienced the opposite. A couple of weeks ago, I attended senior sunset, but it was bittersweet knowing that it was

the last event before graduation. In a couple of weeks, seeing each other every day would just be a memory. I wanted the moment to last forever, but clearly it didn't. One thing both these scenarios have in common is that you're not fully in the present. Both of them are stuck in the future. In the first scenario, you can't wait for the future where you're out of class. Or in the second, you don't want to leave the moment because you realize it will only be a memory. When I stopped to actually think about the lyrics instead of mindlessly skipping through, it made me think about my attitude towards time. The first lyric in the chorus of Let It Happen is I Cannot Vanish. You'll experience the flow of time either way. You can stare at the

clock and use all your will to slow it down. Or sorry, you can stare at the clock and watch time move forward. Or you can use all your will to slow it down. But no matter what you do, time passes and you can't vanish from it. No matter if you hate the moment or love it, time will pass anyway. So be present and let it happen. Thank you. >> [applause] >> At this time, I'd like to introduce our next speaker, Hungwin. [applause] >> Hello there. My name is Hungwin and I want to thank everyone who is here today. Specifically, I want to personally thank Mr. them for doing so much for me in the past four years. From writing countless recommendation letters, pushing me in cross country when I was ready to give up to

having the best classroom to nap in. Thank you, Matt, for inviting me into your life. It was one of the best thing that happened to me and I would not be standing up here today without you. I also want to share something special in another language. Now, I want to share a personal fear of mine with you all, and it has to do with changes. I'm sure most can agree that stability and predict predictability are very nice things to have. Unfortunately, that's not how life works. Stuff constantly changes and very and every day you wake up, you're basically going through the unknown. And it sounds really daunting. When I was younger, my biggest change was moving here from Vietnam. Now, how did I respond to this change? I got straight C's throughout elementary school except

for having an A in PE which I am still very proud of. My second biggest change was during the pandemic when I moved in with my sister and her family. How did I respond to this change? I locked in with my family's help and ended up here nervously trying to motivate you guys. The thing I want to emphasize in this speech is not that change is scary and unpredictable, but rather what you can make out these changes. You can accept it and say it is what it is or you mess with your timeline more and make the most out of it. Although this might be the end of one chapter, it begins another. If you're still afraid of what the future holds, you just got to believe in yourself and you're going to make it

far enough. Thank you. [applause] >> It is now my honor to introduce our next speaker, Aaron Lee. Good evening, Greenway. My name is Aaron Lee, and I'd like to welcome the class of 26, the teachers, and my family and friends. I also want to thank my parents and brother who helped me, who support me along the way. Let's be honest, we all know the stress of last minute work, whether it's finishing homework right before it's due or submitting assignment right at 11:59. Looking back, those were some of our funniest moments. We wouldn't be here without the help of our teachers, staff, friends, and family. But we should also thank ourselves for our hard work and dedication getting here. Now, think back when we were freshman. We were all lost and intimidated by the upper classmen.

But look us now. We're the ones running a show. We have all learned so much here over the years. Each of us with our own unique experiences. The version of you that started high school wouldn't be able to recognize you now. And that's a good thing. Looking ahead, I know each of you would do great things, whether it's going to college, join the military, or entering the workforce. Some may even design entire cities, develop the next big thing in tech, or even find a cure for cancer. I encourage you to set your goals high and persevere through any difficulties, no matter how impossible it might seem. During our time here, we have shared the same halls, the same desk, the same chairs, but we each live a different story. Now, let's celebrate this amazing moment

together. Thank you. [applause] It is now my pleasure to introduce the Green Choir for a special performance. I close my eyes [singing and music] and I can see a world that's waiting for me that I call my home through through the door. But it feels [singing] like home. They can say it all [singing] crazy. They can say [singing] mind crazy. >> [singing] [music] >> Every [singing and music] night I lie in bed. The brightest colors fill my head. A million [music] dreams are keep [singing] a vision [music] of the one I see. A million dreams is all [singing] it's going to take. A million dreams [singing] for the world we're going to make. There's a house. Every [singing and music] far away. I [singing and music] make on a [music] rainy day. They can say

it all [singing] crazy. They can say we lost [singing] our mind. [music] I don't care. [singing and music] I don't care. Crazy world [music] that we [singing] [music] lie in bed. The brightest [singing] colors fill my head. A million dreams are keeping me away. I think of what the world could be. A vision of the one I see. A million dreams [singing] [music] [music and singing] for the world we're going to make. However big, however [singing] small, let me share your dreams. You may [music and singing] be right. You may be wrong. to say that you'll bring me along [music] to the world you see. To the world [music and singing] I close my eyes to see. I close my eyes to see [singing and music] my head. A million dreams are keeping me [singing

and music] away. of what the world could be. A vision of [music] the one I see. A million dreams is all it's going to take. A million dreams for the world. We're going to make for the world. We're going [singing and music] to make [cheering] [applause] Thank you, Mr. Rafferty, and our incredible vocalists. Leadership is critical to the success of any organization and a high school campus is certainly no different. Student leadership maintains school culture. It establishes engagement opportunities and provides moments for students to have the great experiences and memories of high school. Our next two speakers should be commended on their leadership and passion for Greenway. Their commitment and enthusiasm is a true reflection of the many great things we've seen from the class of 2026. I am honored to introduce the first of

these two amazing speakers. Please join me in welcoming our student body president, Miss Fedra Hulet. >> Good evening, everyone. I'm your student body president, Fedra Hulet. My family always told me how fast high school is going to fly by. We walked on campus as small freshman, and before I knew it, I had a semester left until I graduated. Suddenly, I stopped missing class. Sorry, mom and dad. Went to every after school event, made many new friends, and really took in the moments that I used to overlook. That shift reminded me of something important. Life isn't just something that happens to you. It's something that comes from you and that you have to be present for. It's easy to get caught up in what's next. The next test, applying for a job, Saturday night plans, and

the next steps after graduation. But in doing that, we sometimes forget to appreciate where we are in the moment. So, as I stand here today, I want to remind all of us to slow down. Take in the little moments. The conversations walking to class, the laughter with the friends at your lunch table, and the memories we didn't even realize we were making at the time. Because one day, these will all be moments that we miss the most. As we move forward, we are all heading in different directions and chasing different dreams. And while the future is exciting, don't rush through it. Be present, take chances, make mistakes, and appreciate every step along the way. Take a moment to be proud of how far you've come. You don't have to have everything figured out right now,

but just be willing to keep moving forward. Because if high school taught us anything, it's that time moves fast, but the memories that we make last a lifetime. Today we celebrate not just the end of a chapter, but the beginning of everything ahead. Congratulations to the graduating class of 2026. [applause] It is now my pleasure to introduce our senior class president, Ramsey Hoy. Hi guys, I'm your senior class president, Ramsey Hoy, and I'm here to present the senior class gift. In the past, senior classes have left gifts that show their Greenway pride, and the class of 2026 wanted to continue that tradition with something useful. We are proud to present our senior gift, an air conditioning unit for the outdoor concession standup football games. In Arizona's heat, students, staff, and volunteers spend long hours working

concessions. And this gift will help make that experience safer and more comfortable. While it may not be the flashiest gift, it is practical, meaningful, and something future Greenway students and supporters can appreciate for years to come. Parents, friends, and guests, as senior class president and a proud Greenway student, I have one final request. As we receive our diplomas, please help us keep this moment respectful and meaningful. Please refrain from yelling or whistling while names are being called so every family can hear and celebrate their graduates names. On behalf of the class of 2026, thank you to our amazing Greenway family for supporting us along the way. The time is finally here. Congratulations, class of 2026. Thank you. [applause] Once again, I'd like to introduce our principal, Amy Deiola. Thank you, Ramsey. At this time, it

is my pleasure to introduce our next speaker. Mrs. Laura Rita has a long history with the Glendale Union High School District as a parent, as a volunteer, and as a board member, which she has been a part of since 2021. She is a graduate from Glendale High School and has spent countless hours volunteering in both the Glendale and Phoenix communities. And for that we are very grateful. Please welcome to the stage Mrs. Laura Arita class of 2026 faculty family families and friends. Welcome. My name is Arita. As a member of the governing board, I spent a lot of my year looking at meeting agendas, academic data, budgets, policies, and facility renovation reports. Today, looking out at this wave of cap and gowns, I'm rewriting that our schools were not only built to house classrooms, but

to house stories. Over the last four years, you haven't just been students. You have been the authors of your own growth. You've navigated twists you didn't ask for. And you've overcome obstacles that weren't on the syllabus. There is a common myth that once you graduate, the real world begins. But in fact, the world has been real the entire time. The friendships you gain, the mistakes you've made, and the character you built are not simply practice. They are the foundation of who you are growing up to be. As you walk across the stage, you aren't just receiving a diploma with your name on there. You are obtaining the pen. Up until now, the chapters of your life have been co-authored by the community that has supported you. Starting tomorrow, the ink is entirely yours. In every

great story, there is a moment where the hero must leave the world they know to step into the unknown. You will get to decide what kind of hero you want to be. Will you be the one that builds, the one who heals, or the one who quietly does the right thing when no one is watching? Be the person who persists and push forward when things get difficult. Embrace the messy first drafts of your next chapters and remember that the greatest heroes stumble before they fly. On behalf of the entire Glendale Union High School governing board, it is my privilege to have been a small part of your journey from behind the scenes. We have no doubt that the world is waiting for your unique voice. Take the pen, turn the page, and draft a sequel

to your life story. Congratulations, graduating class of 2026. [applause] At this time, I'd like to ask Miss Deil Deolia to join me at the podium. >> I'm here. You're good. Uh, board member Rita, as the principal of Greenway High School, I certify that these students have met the requirements for graduation as set forth by the state of Arizona and the Glendale Union High School District. I respectfully request that you accept these graduates and that you and Mr. Tarver confer diplomas upon them. As a member of the governing board of the Glendale Union High School District and the authority vested in me by the constitution and laws of the state of Arizona, I accept and confirm that the Green High School class of 2026 has met the requirements for graduation. Mrs. Deiola, please present the graduates

to receive their diplomas. >> [applause] [cheering] >> Before we present the graduates with their diplomas, I would like to echo the comments made earlier by our senior class president. We want this ceremony to belong to every graduate sitting here tonight. We do ask that our guests act with restraint when names are called so that each graduate can hear their name called and heard clearly by everyone. We ask that you remain in your seats and avoid crowding the aisles. We'd hate to have anybody block a picture. Grads photography is also here to capture that special moment for you. Thank you. Mrs. Lang and Mr. Jerel, will you please direct the first row from the graduating class of 2026 to rise and prepare to receive their diplomas?
