006thank you for joining us miss Rita next I'd like to introduce you to the superintendent of Glendale Union High School District superintendent Mr Brian capistran I would now like to introduce you to the students who are sitting on stage with us this morning students when I call your name please stand Mr Dylan Lee Mr James Tai and Mr Daniel Tang these students have taken over 60 hours of honors and AP courses during their time here at Greenway and have a combined GPA a grade point average of 5198 they are an outstanding representation of the senior class and an unbelievable academically achieved many academic achievements I'm sorry excuse me and that which makes them the top 1% of our senior class please join me and congratulating them on their hard work and their academic achievements okay
007on stage we're also joined by The Greenway High School student body president miss aracelli cluck and Mr Matthew C our 2024 senior class president thank you all at this time I would also like to recognize those students who fall within the top 10% of the senior class so in your program we have provided a legend identifying those students who academically fall within the top 10% of the senior class Additionally you will notice a number of seniors walking across the stage this morning with medals and honor cords those wearing honor cords are to be recognized for their dedication in time spent with a Greenway program on our campus such as NHS Roc Deca and so on you'll you also see some of our students walking across stage wearing an act Medallion the ACT medallions were awarded
008to those seniors who as Juniors took the national act exam and scored a composite score of 21 Which is higher than the state average and the state expectation please join me in a round of applause honoring their dedication and accomplishments this brings us to our first Speaker this morning please join me in welcoming Mr Dylan Lee my name is Dylan and I would want to thank Administration for giving me the opportunity to speak looking back in social movements like the feminist and civil rights movements there has been tremendous social and legal progress on the same notion trans acceptance and visibility has never been greater than it is today however it is still a fight for Trans people to justify their existence everyone here in this room even in my generation has grown up with traditional
009gender roles we have been born and bred to adhere to these roles it is in the movies we watch the people we interact with and even the products that we buy so I understand when people think that trans people are weird but I also understand that leaving people in this thought process will ever continue the hate and misunderstanding towards trans trans people I can't change everyone's mind in 90 seconds but I will say this trans People Are People it is not a choice it is not a choice to be trans it sticks with you for your entire life it never really goes away until you express your true self they didn't want to be who they are right now they didn't choose their assigned gender it's similar to being forced to use your non-dominant hand
010it would feel uncomfortable we would want to use the other hand of course it's never a binary thing like being left-handed or right-handed but it's just as important to be who one truly is look at us Greenway we already live in a diverse community on campus so let's continue to extend the acceptance to all thank you and now I would like to introduce James Tai learning now I get when I say that word some of you may shudder in fear or sigh and disgust it's the end of the school year why do we have to listen to this guy talk about learning I'll admit senioritis has hit me hard too and I'm so ready to graduate but bear with me because I'm not going to talk about the traditional sense of learning when I say
011learning you probably think about the classic definition going to seven cruel hours of our life and being forced to learn subjects you don't want to learn asking the teacher is this going to be on the test or when will we ever use this in real life during this speech though learning to me means something else from the blood well maybe not Blood Sweat and Tears I've been I've shed to be able to speak to you today the most incredible and valuable lesson in my 13 years of education is this experiencing and immersing yourself in the many aspects of life to use the little time we have to soak up all that life has to offer like a sponge whether it's going to a new country and learning about their culture learning how to crochet learning
012how to cook or even learning how to live on your own that's what learning is it's willingly going out of your comfort zone to amass new knowledge and discover what's meaningful to you and so from this small Podium and absolutely zero authority over your life I implore you to continue learning as you depart Greenway whatever experiences you have gained from attending this school however big or however small the academic knowledge you've retained I hope that at least you have retained the ability to learn and use every opport that life gives you to continue expanding that learning thank you and now I'd like to introduce Mr Daniel [Applause] Tang famous author Bryant McGill once wrote the trees which are pruned watered and nurtured by Caring Hands bear the greatest fruit it is the same with people
013the students in this room will go on to accomplish great things as you celebrate such a tremendous Milestone consider the experiences that led up to this moment and look at the wonderful person you have grown to become but I also ask that you take this time to reflect upon the many Caring Hands that have nurtured you to become this wonderful person these hands may be the hands of your parents all the times they washed your clothes drove you to school and comforted you has helped develop the great fruits in your life perhaps there are the hands of your teachers or Greenway staff who always talked with you when you were lonely or taught you something you will never forget the life lessons they gave you will be with you for the rest of your life
014providing you the soil in which you grow or maybe they are the hands of your friends who stood by your side over the years and supported you in everything you did they watered the the ground you lived in so that you could flourish the truth is we are the product of every person who has ever cared about us we are the tree that was nurtured and now it is time to Bear the fruit of that nurturing for others in all that you do bear the fruits of gratitude respect patience and kindness and give that fruit to the world but even more than that be the hand that cares for others just as those closest to you shaped you into the person you are today be the person who creates a lasting change in others and

019on to the next chapter some will move on to college trade school military or even take a break to see what the world has to offer we never believed them when they said High School would go by fast but here we are no more coming to school late with a drink in our hand meeting up with friends after the Bell calling our parents to call us out or even comparing our schedule on the first day as this chapter close I would like to quote an amazing teacher by the name of Miss Moore everything you need to be successful is within you discipline determination passion confidence and empathy those characteristics have carried you through high school and will carry you through every moment of your life thank you Miss Moore for always knowing what to say

021stand before you about to embark on the Journey of adulthood I see faces filled with memories dreams and the Bittersweet realization that this chapter of Our Lives is coming to an end the friendships we forged as well as the shared laughter and experiences we lived has r a tapestry memories that will forever be attached to our hearts we've celebrated victories together and offered support for the diversity of others together we've grown immensely and must now embrace the possibility of failing in order to succeed don't fail to understand that someone else's win is not your loss their victories are not your defeats but most importantly the opinions others hold upon you are simply reflections of their own reality and not the person you've become within the halls of our school the Halls may be white but

024husband have spent countless hours volunteering in both the Glendale and Phoenix communities and for that we are truly grateful it is my pleasure to introduce Mrs Laura [Applause] arita graduates good morning my name is laa arita and as a member of the Glendale Union High School District governing board it is my pleasure to address you on this meaningful event I join Greenway steam faculty proud parents close friends and families to celebrate your remarkable achievements and to extend our farewells as you prepare to welcome the next chapter in your lives before you take the final steps across this stage allow me to emphasize that graduation is not just about academic success it is all Al about personal growth and strength of character however it is essential to acknowledge that no High School journey is easy without
