005guests from our district office and governing board first I'd like to introduce you to Mrs Patty Hussey Mrs Hussey is a long time resident of the Glendale Union High School District she's been involved with us for more than 30 years as a parent of two Apollo graduates and also as a member of the Apollo booster club before joining our governing board next I'd like to introduce you to Mr Nate bowler Mr bowler is a graduate of our district from Apollo High School his wife graduated from Greenway High School which is why we allowed him to attend this evening's event and he is a member of our superintendent's cabinet and holds a title of Chief Financial Officer for the Glendale Union High School District join me once more in welcoming our two special guests next I'd
006like to introduce you to the students who are sitting sitting on stage with us this evening please stand when I call your name Mr Richard no Mr Omar Camille [Applause] and Miss Natalie Turner Stewart [Applause] these three students have a combined GPA of 4.96 and are in the top one percent of our senior class please join me in congratulating them on their efforts okay stay standing [Applause] we are also joined on stage by our by The Greenway High School student body president Miss Lily Ortega [Applause] and Miss Serenity Mattel who is our senior class president both of these young ladies should be committed on their leadership and passion for Greenway High School their commitment to Greenway is a true reflection of the many great things that we have seen from the class of 2023. thank

008welcoming Mr Richard no [Applause] good evening my name is Richard Noe and I would like to dedicate this speech to the people Pleasers to the people who feel trapped by expectations the people like me from the time that we are young we are taught to always not disobey our parents to always trust their intuition because they know best but in doing so we sometimes be come so consumed with meeting expectations that we have neglected our own needs dreams and aspirations yes I have Triumph I persevered through the challenges that were calculus AP U.S history chemistry but then I asked myself why what was it all for most importantly who was it all for was it to make my parents proud myself others I was lost however I realized that even under these pressures and expectations
009they did not Define me or dictate my choices I did so class of 2023 my message is simple live for yourself live a life that you want not what others want as you walk the stage tonight and grab your diploma remember this moment is yours remember that your name is on your diploma not your teachers not your parents not anyone else's but yours no one can undermine the hard work dedication perseverance that got us here today we have endured Strife that is high school and moving forward we will persist we will continue to endure and we will challenge All Odds as we look to the future we must remember to live for ourselves we will face many challenges and obstacles we will be told what we can and cannot do and we will be judged
010by other people's standards but they connect they cannot dictate our choices only we can so do what makes you happy if you want to go into music and or art then do it ambitious to become a lawyer doctor engineer do it horse whisper though I wouldn't recommend it sure let us not be swayed by the opinions and expectations of others let us Forge our own paths and embrace a life that is uniquely our own because achievement has no name let us not be blindsided by validation and recognition but to take pride in the work we do congrats class of 2023 we did it thank you [Applause] I want to now like to introduce Mr Omar Camille [Applause] I could still remember April 27th so vividly me seated near the Lamplight at my desk thinking about
011AP Chemistry crouched over my keyboard as it began the first draft of this speech three days after it was due sorry Mr Barnes but more importantly I started thinking about these past four years really about time in the abstract time has always been strange that way carries you through these wonderful memories the ones your mind wanders to by habit when you're sitting on a weekend afternoon and yet it's the cold uncluding force that makes you stay up until midnight on May 5th still in the midst of your second paragraph I've come to realize this is my biggest flaw though I expect too much of time I expect I expect to patiently wait for me whenever being vocabulary and the trail again is before an AP US History exam I expected to hold me cleaning around
012the clock face when I'm waiting for Synergy to update after said apo's History exam and yes I expected to come to screeching halt when graduation practices a mere week off and I am yet to find anything profound to say here all of this is to say that time is a resource just as you put money in stocks or these parts on the assembly line it's something you consciously invest most of you in this audience probably don't need this lecture but I wish someone had given it to me I wish I made the effort to socialize more I wish I read more I wish I were a better leader I wish I didn't have to make this the subject of my speech I wish I could call these past four years more than a working title
013once we all get up from our seats in a few hours time and go on about our lives I hope you all consider how you're investing your time there's the obvious don't stay up late when you have an exam the next day commute early to an interview but also see what you're depriving yourself of is there an interest you stop sort of pursuing because you thought it was too hard is there a project you never thought to undertake because it seemed too tedious are you spending your time with the right people assess these decisions carefully because as our senior year has demonstrated time is much scarcer than you may think thank you thank you next I would like to introduce you to miss Natalie tamberstone [Applause] hello my name is Natalie tamburstwin I'm so grateful
014to be here to represent the greenway graduating class of 2023. I hope to take my few moments to reflect on one of the major lessons that I've learned through my experience here today I wanted to talk about community this is something that seems obvious on a day like today with all of your friends family and others gathered to celebrate this all-important milestone however I feel there is still a separation between individuals during our day-to-day lives many people including myself lack Community it we have a tendency to go to school or work do what is necessary and then go back to our comfortable homes and Families unfortunately this also means when individuals are struggling they feel they must struggle alone people without Community will not be successful Community creates strength Community is something you may or
015may not have experienced at Greenway this could have been in the form of friends you've gained and lost teachers who've helped you coaches who've yelled at you all of you have had one of these experiences at Greenway these are all examples of community without these experiences you would not have become a better friend or a better student or a better athlete this community grew you it made you stronger for many graduates going on to higher education or simply facing life in the next four years Community is going to be essential look for friends create relationships find mentors furthermore be that friend that supporter or that mentor to someone else the community you create will be your help and it will be your strength no one is truly successful on their own I certainly am not
016I implore you all to create a community wherever you go in life I wanted to close with a thank you to some of the members of my own community of course my many devoted teachers such as Mr Novo Miss candidate and my coach of four years Mr Aikman along with countless other amazing teachers thank you I would also like to thank my family and my best friend Nico who have been my greatest support they have helped me become who I am they are my community thank you all and congratulations to the class of 2023. 017baby don't stop me [Music] foreign [Music] come on [Applause] thank you Mr Rafferty and students you know leadership is critical to the success of any organization and a high school campus is no different student leadership maintains our culture it establishes engaging opportunities for students and provides moments that students have those great experiences and memories of high school remember this senior class as freshmen went away during spring break only to return a year later due to covet their freshman and sophomore years of high school were disrupted and for us as it always is is to give students four great years of memorable High School experiences well now we had two years left to provide them with uninterrupted experiences on our campus and we couldn't have pulled it out without leadership and we went right to these
018two young ladies they're at the top of our list and with their help and the members of student council and their sponsor we were able to provide students with experiences Greenway is known for it is my pleasure to introduce you to the first of these two young ladies please join me in welcoming our student body president Miss Lily Ortega [Applause] dear fellow graduates faculty family and friends my name is Lily ortigan I am your student body president it is my honor and privilege to stand before you one last time as your student body president today we Mark the end of one chapter of our lives and the beginning of another we have all worked incredibly hard to get to this moment and we should be very proud of all our accomplishments as demons we have
019faced many challenges and overcome numerous obstacles but always celebrated and cheered at school events whether it was in the classroom on the field or an extracurricular activities we have always strived for excellence our time at Greenway has been filled with memories that we will cherish forever from our first day as freshmen to our last day of seniors we have learned we have grown and learned together reaching our senior year we finally got the true High School experience attending assemblies sporting events and enjoying the everyday life of a high school student as I look into the crowd I see all the people who cheered loudly at games went on countless Dutch friends not during school Mr Barnes and it's just about tests and you know what we made it as we prepare to leave Greenway High

021precede New Beginnings there is a universal truth we all have to face whether we want to or not everything eventually ends as much as I've looked forward to this day I'm sad that it is here because our time at Greenway is coming to an end we've experienced many last last class last assembly and last sporting event but Indians are inevitable leaves fall you close the book you say goodbye today is one of those days for us today we say goodbye to everything that was familiar everything that was comfortable as a class of 2023. we are parting ways with lifelong friends teachers that have impacted us greatly and memories that will last a lifetime although we are ending this chapter in our lives remember to always live in the moment always live and cherish the moments
