I had a couple of questions kind of towards the presentation that we received, and… I don't know if Miss Adeline is still here, so maybe. Oh, yes, she is. Hi. Is that a lot. And this is from Adeline and for board member Olivo. There was discussion about AP 4172. And about changing the position within 4172. I believe the. There's a new name for that director or program manager. I want to be absolutely correct when I say it. liquidity? What did Mr. Dern? Mr. Henderson call it? Forgive me for that, for not having it, I'll make sure that I add it into, um… into the minutes, but it was a… I'm sorry, Director of Fair Practices. Um, but originally, it was called the Equity Assurance Officer, I believe the EAO. Has AP 4172 been added to

this year's policy work plan, or will that be added to next year's, um, policy work plan? So, as members of the board, we can speak to. We cannot speak to administrative procedures. This is not our jurisdiction. However. Okay. I could speak to, well, board member Oliver is on there, but I could speak to Board Member Oliver and Dr. Felton Moss about reviewing the policy, because the policy guides the AP. So the changes would first need to be made in the policy, and then copied to. the AP, but as far as the AP, as board members and board staff, we cannot speak to APs. Okay, understood, because Mr. Henderson stated for the record that it was being revamped, so I wanted to know what, I guess, what was the adjourning. I guess then policy that goes

with it, the BP that goes with it, and if that BP then, I guess, is on the work plan, because if there is a change, what is that? And then when will it be coming out for public comment? That's kind of my question. And so maybe, you know, if I can get a follow-up to that, maybe at our next meeting, I know this is. Again, I wasn't here, I would have asked that question if I was here that day. Um, but he did say that the AP is being changed, and so, um, Ms. Adeline, thank you for explaining that there's always a BP that goes with the AP, so if… kind of find out what that BP is, and if it is on the work plan, that would be good to know. Just kind of.

tracking through, um… completion of what these changes are, um, that Mr. Henderson reported. So that was, um. One of my questions, um… The second question, I'm not… I don't really understand what I was writing right there, so I'll have to come back to that. Um… Mr. Henderson also, and these might have to just go back to Mr. Henderson, right? Like, so it might be something that are submitting to him and for him to respond to us on. Um… Okay, I can't help you. I'm in the middle of a question. I'll be back with you in about five minutes. I gotta get my questions out. Thank you. Sorry. Um, there was a statement… I'm sorry, Boardman Brown. There was a statement, uh, where he discussed about how I was gonna transition from the vendor to in-house

staff. Um… The question that I really wanted someone to ask and just didn't get asked is once it's fully staffed. How will the transition plan look like? So if he could let us know what that actually looks like. Are we off-boarding, you know, like, 5 cases at a time? 1 case at a time, once a month, twice a month, once a week? I'm just kind of looking for a transition plan once he is fully staffed in that office. Um, and I know that the office is moving over to HR, so I did fully watch the video, but just wondering, like, what… how will be off-boarded from the vendor to the full staff to ensure that there's no gaps in timeliness? So that's… that was a follow-up question again. For Mr. Henderson. Um… And then there…

I did have, um… and I know, like, all of my questions, unfortunately, my people are not here from… so I know that these are all kind of just stated for the record. Um, but for follow-up. Um… There was discussion around… Ms. Bowman discussed around the virtual plan in her, um, in her report. And the virtual plans and visual accommodations during virtual learning. There was an off comment. I didn't… And I don't want to say off comment. There was a comment or a statement that was made kind of, like, to the effect that there's legislation around IEPs. I wondered… If it felt like she was referring to local legislation or even state legislation. So I wondered if there was local or state legislation around 504 plan learners and virtual plans. Um, so that is the question

that I will be putting putting back towards, um… Miss Bowman, and then. we still did not receive the data. of the SPED plan. This was requested in January. We requested the SPED plan that was originally with PGCPS that was created by Ms. Bowman prior to her departure to MDSE and then back to PGCPS. and was from school year, I believe, 2022 through 2024. So we haven't received that data. And then, for clarity, my question to Ms. Bowman, and again, I'll put this in email. by the close of the business week this week. Um… And I'm sorry, I've been traveling, so I haven't gotten my emails out like I've wanted to. Um, but… There was a question. My actual question around the are hard of hearing and DOH population. With specifically to how we teach them

to read. It was not about them being English second language learners. It was more that when they're reading. materials. It does not have, um… And I… I'm sorry, I don't have any other way but a visual to give you, but it wouldn't have… It should essentially. And now my pen wants to run out. Awesome. It should essentially look like this right? So you would have the ASL at top. So that they can read the hand signs, and then the English words at the bottom. So my question was, do we have. actual reading materials that way for our students who are hard of hearing or deaf of hearing. And that's the best clinical best practices on how they learn is that if you're teaching them how to read, is that the line above is all ASL.

So you're going to put it in, you know, if I was to spell my name, it would be CHA. R-I-S-S-E, right? So, and I know I did say before that I do speak sign language, so you would have that at top, and then you would have C-H-A-R-I-S-S-E written out underneath. So that was more my question, what was the actual materials that the children had? to, um, learn to read, not necessarily. I wanted to see their reading materials because parents are reporting across the district that the reading materials are not set in that way. And so. They're just learning how to read English. There are no… ASL signs above, on the line above. And then my last thing would be a point of order if Miss Johnson, if you can. send me the attendance records from

prior to me being the recording secretary so that I can do the full attendance report. I don't… I do believe that I didn't become, um. recording secretary until, like, that December of 24, or maybe even at January of 25. Um, so I don't have a certain set of… I have some… there's some months that I'm missing, so I wouldn't have… be able to provide a complete report. Um, and thank you, Chair Smith, for recognizing me, and again, I recognize that. I appreciate consolidating all of that. I did just have a couple of follow-up things. One, with the ESOL students, I did not realize that your question was pertaining to the Rita materials. So… We'll make sure we get that question answered as it relates to the 504 learners and legislation. I don't have an answer

for that, but I will tell you I'm a member of COPA, and I know that other states. have presented legislation specifically for 504 plans, and that that whole process. Um, and it was a topic of discussion, but in lieu of directing this, this question to Miss Bowman, I think that we may want to… invite Dr. Faison here, because 504 plans fall under her purview. The other thing, um, I just wanted to backtrack. I think it was Miss Cottrell as well as. Miss Blackwell. And I try my best today to go through all of the emails. So I sent out the report, or at least the response that we had received as it relates to equity assurance and ADA accommodations. And I believe those were the — in addition to me, but there were three. additional

inquiries related to that. Um, but Miss Cottrell and Miss Blackwell, I could not. find the emails, and I think it was Miss Cottrell. So Miss Cottrell, if you want to put your response on record right now, I would like to give you the floor to do so. Um, or you can send an email again so that I can consolidate everything and send it up. accomplishment of fund that email if I sent it, because I don't remember what I wrote, if I'm being totally honest with you at this juncture. Um, and I would prefer to do it that way. Thank you, though. No problem. Sounds good. Thank you. All right, Miss Patrick. Yes, I know we've spoken about, you know, engaging parents of students with 504s, but I am also wondering, um, if the group. Has

any interest or thinks it may be helpful to also engage educators with disabilities. at future meetings here, like potentially to testify, I guess, with us about their experiences navigating. I just recognize that our policy, you know, also addresses the experiences of staff. So two things. One. Um… And I want to make sure I'm not crossing meetings or sidebar discussions, but… Um, I remember something to the recollection that the district has. A procedure, it may be a process pertaining to staff. directly, um, as it relates to accommodations. It does not mean that… because this policy is still in place, it doesn't mean that we could not open up to engagement at the staff level. So hopefully what I just said makes a little bit of sense. I think what may be worthwhile is that we have

this as an item in our discussion with Mr. Dwyer. about this bigger plan to engage families. So maybe it'll be twofold families as well as staff. Is that helpful, Miss Patrick? Yes, for sure, for sure. Okay, awesome. Miss Brown, I saw your hand. I think. But the tile moved. Okay. All right, are there any other new business items? All right. Don't see any. The chair moves that the disability issues advisory. Miss Pang, you just called me. I was trying to fan my button. It's not really, um, new business. I just want to announce that, uh, on next Tuesday, we have our CCAT meeting, and the title is Preparing Our Youth with Disabilities. for life after high school, and Doralee Palamos, who is the Assistant Supervisor of Secondary Transition for Prince George's County Public Schools will

be our guest speaker. Thank you for sharing that. Miss Payne, um, and you just reminded me, I actually think it's this week. I'm trying to see if I can pull up the email real quick. I think that, um, college and career readiness, I think that there's a meat in this, not a meeting, but, like, a showcase. Um, this week… hold on trying to pull up my email real quick. Usually they have that night at Largo High School. Oh, my goodness, I get so many emails. I… I can't rep… I can't pull it. It's not relatively available right now, but the district, what I do know is that the district is hosting a college and career readiness for students with special needs. I just cannot identify the date or the location, but I can make sure

that we get that information inside the notes. So, Miss Payne, thank you so much for informing us of the CCAC meeting next Tuesday. Hope that everybody can attend. I'm sure that'd be a great. Presentation. All right. Any other questions? See a nod. The chair moves that the Disability Issues Advisory Board. Chair Chair Smith. I'm sorry. Just a point of order. You want me to add the additional meeting that they do for students. Mm-hmm. In April, you said? Just making sure I have my notes correct. So I don't have a date. I think the… I think the meeting that I'm talking that I'm speaking on right now is in March. I'm gonna. It's separate from the one that I've mentioned earlier today. Okay. I'll make sure to make a note that there might be separate meetings.

Thank you. Well. Well, great. No problem. Thanks. The chair moves that the Disability Issues Advisory Board. Oh, wait a second. Hold on. Let me read this real quick. I'm still under new business. I thought I was about to adjourn the meeting. Um… I need to to back up, guys. So there have been some concerns with our current meeting. dates as a real days. Let me say it. There has been concerns with our meeting days. We have 2 members, a part of this board that must that they're they're part of the membership, but they must attend. this other meeting, which is Ccac. And in some instances, it overlaps with Diab. So the question is… or actually, it's not a question. It's a motion. The chair moves that the disability issues advisory Board meet on third on

the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 Pm. For the 2026-2027 school year. That's the motion. Oh, my goodness. I need to back up. Ms. Vickery, we need to see if we still have a quorum. Wow, you please go. Oh my god. Chair. Smith. This is Tia, yeah, you still have a form. Yes. Excellent. So let me restate my motion. The chair molds that the disability issues advisory Board meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM for the 2026-27 school year. Do I have a second? I second. Are there any questions? it has been properly moved, and second, that the Disability Issues Advisory Board meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 Pm. For the 2026 27 school year. Miss Vickery, do we need a vote? I don't think we

need a vote. There's no one. I don't think there's no objection. Are there any objections? haven't done a motion in a while. I'm confusing my own self. There are no objections. The motion passes. All right. Are there any additional topics? Chair Smith, I think we also needed to alert Diab about the one date change that we have coming up. Is it for April, I believe it is? Can you remind me, Miss Johnson? for… The next meeting. I have April 20. I have April 21st for the next meeting. Is that… Correct. Yeah, that should be, uh… let me double check. because I know that, um. There was a discussion, I believe, that… It was on originally on another date, I think, and we moved it to 21st. Yeah. Yes, it was originally… yes, it was. So

we… I think you just need to advise everyone that there was a change. It was the. And just to remind you, it was originally 4-21st, and it got moved, and now it's going back to the 21st. So it was selected at the 21st originally at the beginning of the school year. It had to move like within 30 days of that, but now we're back because the space is back okay. Okay, great. And also, too, if I could just point out the invitation was also sent to everyone's calendar, so you want to check the date on April 21st, you should see it on your calendar as well. Thank you, Miss Johnson. Thank you for that update, too, Miss Vickery. All right. Are we ready, guys? Miss Taran Myers. Okay, maybe, maybe it's me. Maybe I'm just

confused. You just put a motion out for us to meet on the you said the 3rd Tuesday. Isn't that what you're doing? That is correct. Originally, we were meeting on the second Tuesday, and there was a conflict on some months with CCAC. Correct. Correct. And so we've been meeting here. This meeting, the last meeting, that's the third Tuesday. Am I missing that? Is it me? No, I think I have… Chair Smith, I have it. We had actually approved these dates and moved them around at the beginning of the school year, so what you're seeing is the decisions that were already made. Yeah. So the motion essentially was for next school year and has solidified what next school year is going to be. Oh, gotcha. Okay. Okay. Um, but we, towards the end of this school

year, we were kind of already… we had already made the changes, because Miss Payne had already had her schedule, and I believe there is another member, but I'm just… I know Miss Payne off the top of my head is a member as well, but she had already had her schedule, and we were able to move. we were able to move and, you know, duck and dodge and weave about this school year, but… In order to not do that again next school year, that's what the motion was. Sorry, Chair Smith, just wanted. No. Thank you. So for the rest of the school year, we're already on a third. It looks that way. But the motion was more for next school year. Thank you, Miss Vickery. You keeping me keeping me in mind. This is very helpful.
