001SP pocket probably didn't make it from the without being switch you with the Snickers over here if you want sometimes when you're late you miss out so you could you could have them both um we'll call the meeting to order at six o'clock and are there any changes to the agenda tonight I move to adopt the agenda as presented I'll second all right we have a first and a second all in favor I I all right passes oh I passes for all right please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance I pledge aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation indivisible andice all right 4.1 approval of board meeting minutes for June 12th 2004 any questions I move that we approve
002the minutes from the June 12th 2024 regular meeting reg uh regular meeting minutes as presented I'll second okay we have a first and a second all in favor I I I passes 40 all right 4.2 approval of minutes for the executive session for June 12th 24 I'll make a recommendation to approve uh the June 12th 2024 executive meeting minutes as presented second have a first and a second all in favor I I all right passes 40 all right approval of the board minute excuse me approval of minutes for board retreat June 17 now we all can approve these correct there was only two of us that went right or three okay yeah there's three okay we're good then okay yeah it wasn't there so okay I move that the uh that we approve the June
00317 2024 board retreat meeting minutes as presented second have a first and a second all in favor I I so two eyes and I'll abstain because I wasn't there three eyes oh sorry I didn't hear you Jason all right approval of minutes for the budget hearing for the board special board meeting of June 27th 2024 I recommend we approve the the governing board approve the June 27th 2024 proposed budget hearing and special board meeting minutes as present I'll second okay I have a first and a second all in favor i i i b is 40 so all right current events superintendent report thank you Mr President um we did we invited the new teaching new employees to uh tonight's meeting but they had two long days so that not many of them showed none of
004them showed uh but we do want to welcome them uh believe it was 48 uh certified staff that were here on Tuesday um and I think they had a good uh couple days of getting introduced uh just so you know within the new not only the new employees but starting tomorrow all of our employees come back we have our three days of the um Esther funded uh trainings tomorrow is their day in the classroom on uh without any other meetings or anything like that then uh Friday we'll be at the high school for training and then we gave them another day on Monday back at their schools but it will be tied to the trainings that were were done on Friday so so so those things are coming up uh before I get into some
005of the others just a reminder uh at 8:00 uh next Thursday is the welcome back convocation uh the meet uh the teacher nights we have uh next week too for uh our schools and then just a real quick one um if you're interested in attending the law conference September 4th through 6th just let myself or Miss Winger know so we can get you signed up there is a delegate um assembly on Saturday I believe that's the seventh that we'll have to votee on but if you're interested in the conference before that just let me know um in order to help with uh reduction of absenteeism one of the areas that administration's been talking about is ways to reduce absenteeism so we will be implementing a uh first 20-day challenge uh to all our families and
006and basically it's the notion of uh if you set good habits kind of like your New Year's resolution if you can hang in there for 20 years you can actually change the or 20 days you can change the Habit uh and so um so we're looking to to see if we can work with students on their attendance patterns and with families so that um we can start to to change the attendance situation that we have um in our district and and just so everybody's aware that's not unique to this District uh I was at a a conference the first part of the week uh up in Salt Lake with uh superintendants from around the country and it's an issue that everybody's faced with uh the the percentage of kids and and the amount of time
007they're missing is is significant everywhere and that's conversations that are taking place as what are strategies to go ahead and change and so the first day the first 20-day challenge is one that we'll be we'll be kicking off um put some information in the QC Sun Times article I don't know if it's been uh posted yet uh but just to to kind of bring attention to it and we'll we'll work on that uh CTA finally got a fire alarm system uh worked up both CTA and CCS upgraded this summer I know uh Mr Anderson's been working on it for several years years uh it's a life safety issue so we would have hoped the state would have moved faster than they moved but they did move so the wheels of Justice move they're just sometimes
008very slow um they also have PTO volunteers uh staff PTO volunteers have been planning campus and PTO events for this year at Harmon they're excited to kick off with uh meet the teacher KN also looking forward to Growing the PTO on their campus and excited to R roll out a new schoolwide reading Intervention Program that will provide student center learning for all the students so big things happening there Support Services we've approved a number of these over the last number of months obviously again when the sfb money it takes time but we do have this is another one similar to what happened at U CTA and and um CCS with the uh fire alarm system uh we had the Micro Burst two years ago and we're finally getting the HVAC units that are going to
009to be replacing it uh in um it's taken a while for the sfb to prove it and so the units are coming in and then we'll be it won't interrupt school or say um uh verg's been very good when they've done some of the HVAC replacement previous years of doing it early morning uh late afternoons uh so they don't interrupt the interrupt the day um we also had the gym floor at the uh High School uh the gym floors at the high school uh resurface and and stripped down and taken care of um and so we continue to work on HVAC uh equipment replacement at harms Coles High School Coles Middle School CTA CTS uh as we talked about once before when you get these units there it's not a short delivery time it's a
010fairly lengthy delivery time we know they they've been approved uh that was one of the benefits of the state budget that um there was more money put into uh the SF uh I guess it's the SF now than had previously be anticipated so some of these projects um uh have been taken care of and we've also taken care of the concession stand uh and we're looking at the track getting some repair work we cannot replace the track given the cost but we're trying to at least take care of some of the major cracks in the track the drama kids were at an International Festival um and they gained valuable knowledge six students participated in college editions and received a numerous 80 call backs from colleges uh two students participated in the thesp theater competition Madison
011ACH received a Superior National rating and Elina gasimova received an excellent rating Jen Hamilton participated in the backstage challenge uh technical theater competition uh hosted by Disney live entertainment the team received Five O fifth overall in lighting and third overall in costumes so appreciate everything that uh Mr Smith has done to take those kids uh out and CCC officially gained their cogni accreditation um so again a lot of positive things that are are happening we just getting ready to get her started up for the new year kids will be back on the 22nd all right okay anything from governing board members staff recognition first I'll have this is the staff recognition this is the month that we recognize the do with one classified one certified uh employee can you hear me now yes okay Mr
012President members of the board colleagues members of the audience each meeting we recognize wonderful members of our student body and our staff tonight I'm honored to recognize our District staff classified member looking back to 2017 I'm going take in a little trip the New England Patriots mounted a largest comeback in the Super Bowl history beating the Atlantic Falcons in overtime after trailing 25 points in the third quarter in Germany a man swims to work to avoid the congestion of road conditions and made his commute only 12 minutes and Frenchman Robert Marshon cycled more than 14 miles in 1 hour doesn't sound all that impressive until you know the man was 105 years old all of these events are great but one of the best events in 2017 was when I got to meet Casey Westervelt
013over the last seven years I've watched Casey give 110% of herself to support not only students staff but Administration that she's worked with when the opportunity arose to bring Cy over to Colmes as our accounts payable technician I jumped with both feet Casey is very detail oriented and for as long as I known her she takes time to understand the why of her job she understands that working through the public school regulations is very tedious but she also remembers that there is a personal element to everything that she does because Casey started with us in June of 2022 and she hit the deep end of the pool she had to learn her job brand new in accounts payable she had to learn her job and not only open up a brand new school year which
014was last year of 23 but she also had to finish and close out 22 so she was running two school years at the same time not an easy task to give you just a general idea what Casey has done in two years of working at comes she has processed over 11,000 invoices all by herself totaling over $33 million we tell Casey all the time that we appreciate her paying the bills because she keeps the lights on she literally Keeps the Lights On so in 2017 I had a wonderful friend and colleague come to my life in 2022 I was able to make her an invaluable team member for the business services department at comes and in 2024 I get to award Casey Westervelt with the comes blue Apple award come on [Applause] and I'll come
015over here and uh do the blue Apple for the certified staff member and he's actually hiding so if Mr rodco could come out please don't know if he knows this uh might be trouble with his wife because I didn't uh let him know to call his wife but uh what I want to say is I'll follow Julie when we go back to a number of years back uh Greg came in roughly the same time I did that first year um and what I don't know that people always understand um we use technology all the time but the kind of technology that we've had to deal with since he's been on board because of the co so we talk about bringing uh swivels in and trying to implement swivel across the the entire District we talk
016about taking kids and the governor telling us on Friday we're back in school and then on Monday saying no we're not in school and we have to flip everything overnight and we the computers we then decid that we're going to go ahead and uh go on to one across the entire um uh district and then we start to talk about what's the infrastructure look like what's the infrastructure look like in terms of the technology that's needed relative to making sure that we have the bandwidth that takes care of all of the computers that we now handed to kids but wait a minute now we have cyber security that has to come up and what do we have to do with all the cyber security now we get every kid with a computer now what do
017we do with the the routers and the switches uh and all of those kind of things that make it work now when something happens there's an easy scapegoat to go to um and there's a lot of complaining about what's not taking place but what people don't understand is the depth and breadth of what we have with technology in this district and the size of the team that we have have to make it work under Craigs leadership and that team is 10 people uh for uh eight nine sites uh in in excess of uh 4,000 computers probably closer to 5,000 computers all the different systems we're putting in place um and there's a lot of behind the-scenes stuff that gets done that that people don't see um like I say they may complain when it doesn't
018work but all the rest of the time they just do it without understanding it and it's all the little things that get more complicated doe Authentication can be a real pain but it's making our kids safer and our staff safer as we go ahead and move in this digital world that we live in that's changing as fast as we can speak and we haven't even started to talk about AI so I just wanted to thank Craig and recognize Craig for all the hard work he's done and correct thanks for the uh snicker bars are you doing volunteer no all right that brings 5.6 governing board members anything from the governing board the only thing I did since our last budget hearing was I went to the new teacher orientation said hi thank you for going
019thank you for doing that that was that was a nice nice little some new uh employees they'll be great so yeah awesome yeah thanks that's that's all I got all right anything else all right takes us to public comments no public comments all right all right that takes us to our consent agenda I have two items I'd like to discuss 7.2 and 7.11 should I go ahead yes uh 72 so Julie um I looked at the end of year M report and I'm wondering are there still some after period adjustments that will be made to update that because we had talked about our carryover balance of close to 750,000 and right now hour we're at 629 and I'm wondering if that's going to change or if that's what we're looking at you're broken it's coming
020out of ml it's GNA be now you know why he got the award thank you you are welcome and your question on 71 on 71 the 25,000 donation from guy Schumacher does that going to excuse me to the general or how do we use that 25,000 um we actually found out um about this donation it was received from Mr scharer we are going to be reaching out to confirm it is our understanding that it's primarily going to be used at the high school for a lot of the um electives music drama things of that nature but there is a bulk that will go to the general fund um we just have not had a chance to reach Mr shoem marker to um get that specific so that's that's process general fund of the high school
021you mean the High School general fund it'll go into donations and it'll be at a district level right now just until I can find out specifically where he's wanting it but not the M general fund it'll be in the in the donation and donations it'll be a separate and he he was part of the enanta service League a year ago that did I think 40,000 to some of the other schools in the District he's not worth with the anant Tera service League anymore this is his own thing he's doing and he chose this time to send it to the high school so he varies depending on what's going on um and how much money he raises and and has tried to spread it out over the last few years to number schools and we'll probably
022do the same again this year as part of the work he does at at andant just for clarification um when it goes to the schools does it go into the fund like for extracurricular and that kind of stuff uh gifts and donations um in this particular category are coded to fund 530 then once we find out where the donor would like them to be spent if it is the high school then it's coded to the high school so that they can use it to purchase items and they would have access to that account at that time okay if it stays at a district level then we would code it to a district level account and then use it as he or whoever Don donates it um where they would like it's spent okay thank you
023you're welcome all right any other questions on that okay so I'll take a a motion um I move to accept excuse me the consent agenda as presented second I have a first and a second all in favor I I um passes 40 that takes us to 8 8.1 discussion of possible action to appoint represent to the asba delegate assembly I think I have the date wrong on the motion so if when you make the motion just say to the delegate assembly and that's this delegate assembly uh on the Saturday of the ASA excuse me asba law conference uh and what it is is is we have not yet received but probably at the August board meeting you we will receive the political agenda for asba for the upcoming legislative session and so what the delegate
024the uh person does is is voices support of that or dissension with uh whatever the uh um political agenda is and I know Mr Ray's done it uh numerous times in the past probably every time that he's been on the board I don't know if he's still interested but that's why there's a blank there that's a discussion amongst you guys as to when uh who wants to uh be supportive of of that assembly to go ahead and voice our feelings I'm happy to go go but Jason if you want to go you're welcome to go I don't want to take it away from you all right well I guess we need a motion I recommend that Steve go Stephen right I'll second I'll make a motion that Stephen Ray to to represent the J comes
025as the district delegate as the to the Arizona School Board Association delegate assembly to be held um sometime after October no before October it's in September it's definitely in September but I think I just have after August yeah okay okay I'll second all right all in favor I I love it all right I'll go 8.2 discussion and consideration of approval to adoption of the FY 2425 District expenditure budgets good evening once again action item 8.2 is to adopt our FY 2025 annual expenditure budget no changes have been made from the proposed budget presented under public hearing and governing board presentation on June 27th a quick reminder the expenditure budget for maintenance and operations is $ 228 m966 one94 for this year and unrestricted capital is 1,912 or $91,200 are there any questions no I don't
026have any questions all right I'll take a motion I move to approve the adoption of the fiscal year 20242 District expenditure expenditure budget as presented I'll second first and second all in favor I I motion passes 40 8.3 discussion and consideration to authorize expenditure Monies in excess of M fund sub subsection for FY 2425 okay once again this is the agenda item with all the legal ramifications that I have to read so I apologize in advance Arizona uh revised Statute 15905 G and governing board policy dbj expenditure budget adoption is subject to the authorization of expenditures of monies budgeted within the M section of the budget for any subsection within the section in excess of amounts spe specified in the budget however the total expenditures of the M budget may not exceed the total budgeted
027amount for the fisical year what it means is there are 135 different cells on page one we're not limited to the specific amount that's limited or identified there during the year as long as we do not exceed the total budget are there any questions all right I'll take a motion on 8.3 okay I move to authorize the expenditure of monies budgeted within the M section of the budget for any subsection within the section in excess of amounts specified in the budget for fiscal year 2024 2025 as presented I'll second first and second all in favor I I I motion passes 8 point for discussion and consideration for approval combined resolution affecting County Treasurer for transactions for fiscal year 2425 these are the items we presented in discussion at the last board meeting this particular one
028is the combined resolution with panel County Treasurer that provides for our investments warrants warrant signatures fund uh fund transfers and our treasury agency services and I'm just bringing it for your signature tonight are there any questions all right I'll take a motion I move to approve the combined resolution with panal County treasure as presented second I first and second all in favor I I I motion passes for o 8.5 discussion and consideration for approval do you have a question no no no I don't discussion and consideration for approval regarding intergovernmental agreement for data processing services okay my last action item with you tonight you don't want to sit down do you well I will come back up um intergovernmental agreement for continued data processing service between J coms and the panal county school office for
029B week payroll our accounts payable warrants and our financial records for the 2025 school year do you have any questions on this adoption all right I'll take a motion okay I move to approve the inter governmental agreement for data processing Services as presented I'll second all right I have a person second all in favor I I I passes 40 8.6 discussion and consideration of approval of qualified evaluators for J coms School District State Statute board policy requires that we bring you these names each year for certified evaluation um those individuals that have uh we have some new individuals on board that have not received the training uh They will receive it in the future with Asa um and so we'll bring this item back with anybody that's not on the list that receives it um
030but I would recommend approval for those on the list uh as we go through on the uh evaluations all right so if we don't approve someone on the list they wouldn't have to evaluate no what what you yeah well that's what they not want to evaluate yeah that's what they may want to do that's not the purpose of it it was a nice try I tried I tried guys I tried all right I'll take a motion I will motion to uh where is it motion to approve the 2024 25 Jes Unified School District qualified evaluators as presented I'll second I have a first and a second all in favor I I I motion passes 40 8.7 discussion and consideration approval for hearing off officers this is just a list this is just a list of
031hearing officers that we could pull from if uh we have student or Andor employee discipline issues that we would want a hearing officer uh please note within the list um there is one attorney Mr Ben Hufford uh he's always on the list just in case there's a situation that is uh complicated and may involve uh legal proceedings it's just nice to have an attorney there otherwise these are individuals that have been trained through the trust that would go ahead and and be able to do primarily student hearings although we do not have very many student hearings um but we did have one or two last year that that Mr Young did um so we would call on one of these individuals to run those hearings so I'd recommend approval as presented uh I have a
032question do we want to keep Dr dupus on the list yes he's he's certified to or he's trained by the trust to do this and so it just gives us one more person that we can utilize um they get paid to do this so he would just do it on you know we'd commit to him coming in on his own time to do it and then he would submit uh payment uh based on the training so yeah I would recommend we keep him there okay all right I'll take a motion I motion to approve the 2024 25 jom's Unified School District qualified evaluators is presented did I read that right I'll second I have a first and a second all in favor I I I motion passes 48.8 discussion and consideration of approval for only
033District online school students to try out for inter inter Scholastic athletes and activities defined and supported by AIA this is again an AIA issue not necessarily a state statute issue and and the just of it is we have our own online program and so therefore we would uh suggest that those students that want to participate in sports uh would go ahead and be part of our online school and then they could participate in sports um having a student attend another online program let's just say Pinnacle uh and then coming in participating in our Sports uh the cover the the cost for them to participate does not come close to covering what it what it takes um and so over the last few years uh we've just said no if if you want to participate in
034our Sports uh then you you attend our online school again this is dealing with online students only if you are a homeschool student the laws are different in the state and a homeschool student can participate on our on our team now if you're a homeschool student who's taking a voucher then I would argue they cannot participate because they are private school not homeschool and we wouldn't accept private school students to to accept ours but for this it's just approval that the AIA requires so I recommend we continue with this uh moving forward just a question is there a situation where a student could be in two online schools at the same time um they shouldn't be because you're tracking them through the state um and their SA number would be tracked through the state uh
035can I sit here and tell you that never happens or it it never happened no but generally speaking they shouldn't uh they shouldn't because the the state should be tracking the the ID number and knowing where the kids are enrolled okay I'll make a motion to allow to only allow online students attending the district's online school to be eligible to participate in the district inter Scholastics Athletics and activities as defined and supported by the a I'll second all right I have person a second all in favor I I I all right motion passes for 8.9 discussion and consideration of approval for musical instrument museum field trip Grant agreement good evening Mr President Dr Wyman board members colleagues um this item tonight is a new partnership opportunity that we have with the musical instrument museum and
036um this opportunity will provide um our students the opportunity to attend the musical instrument museum in person and virtually um and so we had asked our leaders to gauge some interests in how many students they might want to send um in person to this field trip because there is a requirement by the musical instrument museum um that we commit to a certain amount of students and then actually send 75% of those students um that's how they base their funding so we had over 14,000 um students that are interested in attending uh 14,000 1,400 it's been a long day um students attending in person um and that will also provide access to all students in the district to the virtual options um we also um inquired about Transportation as it is a long drive from where
037we are located and they graciously are providing a transportation Grant as well so um there will be very minimal to no cost depending on the actual number of buses it requires to take the kids so um all of that is covered through the grant there are several choices along um with the field trip so each grade level in each school can decide what tour that would best fit their students um that they could go on and they may also choose from the add-on opportunities that um are are there they have special artists that come in um During certain times of the year so all of that would be included as well um they also provide some workshops um and resources for the staff and teachers and um along with this option they provide a district
038event night so we could send anyone in our district um free of charge in the evening so anyone in our community could go to the musical instrument museum they also have options where we could send some of our groups to perform there potentially so if the band or the orchestra had a group that wanted to perform that night they could do that as well so um it's a really um unique opportunity for our kids to get that experience and then most of the inperson options are also available virtually so everyone in the district would have access to those and they could use those at any time um along with that some of those same professional development opportunities the district night are included there as well so if um approved this evening then our next steps
039would be to actually have our schools provide us the information on the dates they would like to go which field trips they are interested in um and then we communicate with the musical instrument museum to get those scheduled um and then we would share out that virtual login information with everyone um and work to schedule that District Eve at night as well do you have any questions on this item when can Bob go I've been you can come with anyone Bob so there's room on the L um how many different groups are they willing to entertain for these, 1400 students as many as interested so we have all the way from kindergarten through 12th grade um depending on the site most of the interest was for our second through sixth grade students to attend in
040person um but we do have interest um from like CCS for um a lot of their students a good amount from the middle school so we'll be able to send a wide variety of students and they can be over many different days absolutely yep they get to choose and kind of personalize that trip to whatever it is that might tie into their curriculum or might be interesting to their particular group of student students um they have some more stem focused trips they have some more cultural focused ones so depending on interest they could choose um the museum masks we give each group chooses three dates and then they can kind of work with us on that the only real requirement is that we send about half our kids in the beginning of the year and
041the other half in the second semester and that's just so they can spread it out a little bit I would think for a teacher teaching something about music or music theory or history of something there's great opportunities here yeah it's a wonderful opportunity um and and especially I know um it's hard sometimes when it's a far away my place but um I that's why I asked about Transportation I said help me get our kids there so um they're willing to do that and we did um set a little extra money aside in title 4 just in case there wasn't enough to cover the transportation so it wouldn't be a burden on our schools sounds good please all right so the details on the Travel do they I mean you're going to Phoenix yeah what they
042get there North will they get there and stay for 45 minutes and have to come home or I mean are they making some adjustments for they do the buses they do they have preferred start times but they are willing to work with you depending on when you can arrive um and so particularly like our Middle School that starts a little bit later we would have to adjust some of their preferred tour start times but each um is about two to two and a half hours they divide it among what you've ch chosen so in the main galleries whether you've chosen to self-guide or if you've chosen one of those add-on opportunities then they split the time about 45 minutes 45 minutes for each of those things um and then we we hit the bus and
043come back so we did definitely talk to Transportation about what time do we have to be back can we logistically make this work um and in some cases it may be tight but we absolutely can make the time work that's tough because a lot of schools do miss out on some good opportunities because there's such a restraint on buses have to be back in time we want them back for the dismissal time but we'll make it happen I like it awesome all right I'll take a motion I motion to approve the musical instrument museum field trip Grant agreement for the 20124 2025 school year I'll second have a first and a second all in favor I I motion passes 40 810 second discussion and consideration of approval for IGA with qcusd and for migrant education
044okay so this um item is um to renew SL change the current that we have with Queen Creek into an IGA for the um upcoming school year and um what this will do I don't know Craig if you have my slides but um what this this funding does is provide oh there it is thank you um what this funding does is um provide for our migrant education program so so one of the things I just wanted to highlight was the summer program that we just held for those students um we ran that camp over at Ranch for just about a week in the summer that's about four days um and we actually held it after the title one summer school so students had the opportunity to participate in both we busted them from one to
045the other um and provided lunch to them and we served students um in kindergarten through 11th grade mostly in that like third through sixth grade range but all the students that are eligible for this program were invited and we had about 15 total um that did come with us so over the four days they focused on literacy activities so the first day they went to the um Children's Museum and they focused a lot on reading and reflection and and what they've learned they also worked a lot on their language skills as a lot of our migrant students are also English English language learning students um so that was an experience for them that a lot of them had not had on the second day they went to the Queen Creek Library they were able to
046to take a tour um of the library the front and the back um they were able to utilize the different resources and and learn about what is available to them in the community um they made bookmarks they played games so they had a wonderful time on that trip the third day probably the kids favorite day um they did a book tasting rotation so they had different literacy activities and food to taste based off of these books by Eric Carl so so the students um read the books they made the craft and then they got to eat some yummy treats so um that was definitely a hit with the kids on that day and then the last day we had Banner Health come in and speak to the kids about career opportunities they worked on some
047writing skills and um using thinking maps to kind of summarize what they've learned um through th those guest speakers and those opportunities at the end of the four days the kids didn't want it to end they wanted to come back um which is pretty amazing even in the summertime um considering that was their second program of the day so um really exciting to hear um that they were so thrilled to be there and have all those opportunities so um this IGA um if we sign this this evening it'll allow us to continue to receive funds um for that migrant education program along with the summer program we also support the students throughout the year so we provide things like clothing backpacks anything they need for school school um this past year we provided a cap
048and gown for a student who was not able to purchase one so um anything that those students might need um we're look we are looking into hiring some tutoring services from some from a staff member for those students this upcoming year um just based on the needs that we have seen and how much they really thrived and enjoyed that experience this summer um and then we cordinate with Queen Queen Creek they send us the eligibility information they do all of the f fing of the families and students that are eligible um and that's how they base the funding that they provide to us for the upcoming year based on our students um and who they are so once we have that final list um alfo who runs the program surveys the families finds out their
049needs and then that's how we base additional um spending of funds is based around what the families might need are there any questions on this item I like it all right I'll take a motion I mve to approve the IGA with the Queen Creek Unified School District for the migrant education grant program subres I'll second all right I have a first and a second all in favor I I motion passes 40 811 discussion and consideration approval for the CHS athletic fee family cap yes an oversight when we talked about the increase in the fees of last month uh did not think to to further the conversation last uh in the old uh or last year the fee was 360 bucks the way that was figured out was four Sports time $90 is360 you raised it
050to $100 at the high school I didn't want to assume that you also meant for that to raise the fee to $400 uh that would stay with the same math that we do uh that we've done in the past so that would be the recommendation because it gets a little bit harder if you're charging $100 and then you have to stop at 360 versus 400 but again not wanting to assume uh what the pleasure of the board was I just bring it back for discussion and approval uh it would in essence be the choice is you keep it at 360 like it was in the past or because we raised up to 100 you would just say we would continue with the formula we used in the past and the the fee would be raised
051to 400 the good news for parents on the 400 is this can be written off um as part of the uh tax credit fees and so therefore the the cap right now for parents on tax credit fees is 400 uh and so therefore um they have a chance to recoup the money as part of their taxes when it occurs so a recommendation would be to move it up to 400 but I wanted to make sure that you guys had a chance to discuss and give me direction I guess I I thought I had I kind of have assumed that what we had done already there I'm okay with it and it may have been but we just since we didn't get the motion from you we just want to be safe any other questions no
052I'll make a motion to approve the $400 annual cap per family for CHS athletic activity fee I'll second first and second all in favor I I motion passes 40 812 discussion and consideration of approval for changes to 2425 support salary schedule as part of the consent agenda there was new job descriptions and job titles that were you approved and So based on that approval we had to go ahead and make the corresponding changes to the salary schedule uh and so this is just is the agenda item that would make sure that the salary schedule now links with the changes that were made as part of the consent agenda uh and so I would recommend approval as presented but I'm open to any questions and Mrs Carly is here also if there's any questions it's primarily
053with the community ed uh positions um and so I asked her to be here in case there's any questions but but again it was proved as part of the consent agenda so I'd recommend approval is presented all right I'll take a motion I move to approve the changes to the 20242 salary schedule as presented I second all right I have first and a second all in favor I I I motion passes 40 okay 9.1 discussion and information of student achievement uh we have no report uh the stuff they wanted to cover Miss Heim just covered with the previous agenda items okay um so that takes us to 93 right right because there's nothing for 92 right now I would just say for 92 on student enrollment uh uh appreciation to the uh principles and to
054their staffs uh we did a lot of work in in June to reach out the families to make sure that they were coming back and so I I won't go any further than that so I don't jinx anything but but again their work uh has been uh has been fruitful and and we're appreciative of the the staff and them reaching out to families and just trying to really find out are these families is coming back are they not so that we can do planning accordingly um and uh we're hopeful thank you guys for doing that yes we appreciate that very much all right 9.3 discussion information for the 2425 employee evaluation instruments this is again we're bringing this forward for approval next month so I've just included this this is the same basic agenda item
055as last year I included the coms uh the evaluation presentation from last year I do not have to go through it I just wanted it there in case specific questions you may have um as part of the state statute we would have to get approval uh from you which would be next month um at this point there are no changes to it based on the survey that we did with or there's no proposed changes for next month based on the survey that we did with staff um over the U uh evaluation uh we were presented that information at The Retreat um but I'm open for any conversations discussions but this is just to provide the information in preparation for next month any questions all right thank you 95 information discussion and changes to policy for
056the ASB policies 94 sorry 94 I didn't see anything there I guess I'm wrong um discussion item 9.4 is just to inform you of what's going to be coming in August and according to AR15 2041b the governing board must approve a capital plan for the Arizona school facilities oversight board each year if I could get the IT department to show you an example just so you know exactly what we're talking about this is the one that we did last year it really just is a summary of our student ADM the numbers of our open enrollment students any new construction and any District owned vacant land it's a form that we fill out again through the afso um and we will be bringing this to you with revised numbers in August is there any questions about
057the data that we'll bring forward okay thank you all right 9.5 oh good some awesome speed reading if I could read um this is uh some changes uh to asba policy it's policy advisory for 788 to 791 it's based on some of the changes that occurred in the last legislative session uh it's only the first reading we'll bring bring it back next month for the second reading and approval um so uh any questions I'll be happy to answer or if you have a chance to review it then the questions can come up uh at the next meeting and be prior to approval and be happy to answer at that time okay all right okay any requests for future agenda items I I have a couple um can we get a a um a recap on
058when we okayed it for the that other uh program to pick up our our the online yeah the Dropout one the Dropout recovery yeah you can but there's not much report because of some issues with ad we're still getting it up and running so I would recommend that we push it out to to maybe uh end of the quarter we'll have a better idea it's it's scheduled to start any any day now but ad was nonresponsive so it took a while for their approval and we haven't got it up in running yet all right and then I have one other question and I just I just want to see if you have heard anything the fact that everything is getting that inflation is becoming quite prominent I was wondering if the state was ever going
059to to up the state tax credit for more than $400 just real quickly they have upu the state tax credit in just about every arena with the exception of public education and I don't believe they'll be upping the tax credit for public education but they have done it in multiple other ones but they don't I know that in private isn't it like a thousand yeah they they don't have a desire at this point in time to to increase that and I've have not heard any discussion at the at the capital that they have any desire in the future to increase it because it becomes a well I won't go down that I just say it on there okay I'll bring that up with the delegate assembly I think that's a great idea yeah I'll bring
060that up there okay chose the right person all right if there are no other requests I'll take a motion for adjournment I'll make a motion to adjourn a second at 651 I have a motion to adjourn at 6 you one all in favor I I Let Go
