001Mrs. Barnett here. Mrs. Stler >> here. >> Mr. Nielsson >> here. >> Okay, if we can all rise for the pledge of allegiance. >> I aliance to the flag of the United States. >> United States of America to the stands one nation indivisibley for all. school. >> Um, if you haven't had the chance to silence your cell phone, please do so as we honor a moment of silence. Okay. Okay. Is there any board member statements, Miss Stalard? >> So, I went to Trace Rios for their holiday. Wait, I have to pull it up. Sorry, cuz I'll forget. I want to make sure. So, I went to their holidays around the world and it was so amazing. I had so much fun. I tried to get to all of them. One of the ones I really
002liked was Spain where they put shoes out and they fill them with candy and it's how they celebrate the three wise men. I saw Germany and Australia and there were so many other ones. I tried to take notes, but unfortunately I was just having too much fun. I colored things and I did a gingerbread house and it was one of the best times I've had. It was so kudos to Trace for putting on such an amazing night. I had the opportunity to attend Leaken's holiday event. It was amazing. Um it was just so multifaceted and offered options for children, you know, toddlers all the way up to anyone. Um we were serenated by the beautiful choir who sang some wonderful selections. Um and what was really nice is everybody had an opportunity to take home
003a book or several books. It encouraged the children to read over the holiday break so that they can continue to work on their literacy and maintain um you know close that gap. So I just think it was a great event. Um it was so exciting. There was a haunted gingerbread man. I don't know if he should have been there. He was coming out popping up on people grabbing people out the bathroom. I don't know if if he was good or bad, but he definitely made it exciting. So I definitely was grateful to be able to go. >> Okay. Um, so I had the ability to also attend Trace Rios's um, Christmas around the world and I enjoyed the dancing in the choir um, and the musical instruments. I also attended Fine Arts's dance and choir
004concerts, their kids at Hope night and was able to watch their Forto team participate in the Talison light parade. Um, and then also in December I was able to celebrate Mr. Atraini receiving an award for being a principal um from Grand Canyon University as well as see that Westmech was there to work with the Littleton Elementary second grade which was so great to see. And lastly, I just want to give a shout out to Littleton Elementary's front office staff. There was a lot of parents who had a lot of emotions in that front office and those women were keeping everything calm, cool, collected, and on point in getting everyone to where they um needed to be. So, I don't think our front office staff districtwide gets appreciated as much as they should be. They are
005truly the first person um our community sees when they walk in and they keep everything stable and where knows where everything's going on. Um lastly, I was able to attend ASBA's annual conference where I got to listen to breakout sessions about datadriven governance, um maximizing administration tenure, school safety, and um striving to build student achievement through strategic vision, aligned resources, and collaboration. Um any other board member statements? >> Madam President, I just uh echo what you and Mrs. has said there about attending Christmas around the world which was wonderful and being with all those other kids there and then also the fine arts musical choir I was really impressed with with all the the music and everything there a great bunch of people >> Mr. Senapos, >> I just want to say welcome back um
006to all of our students, staff, and families. Hopefully you all had the uh time to relax and just enjoy time to yourselves. Um and hopefully you have um have an amazing end off to the school year. >> I'm sorry, there was one more thing I wanted to say. I just completed my term as the um ASBA Black Alliance President. It was absolutely amazing. one of the greatest honors that I've ever had um just to be able to support and serve the students of Arizona um is bittersweet stepping down, but I'm super excited to see what is on the forefront um for our students as a whole and specifically the Black Alliance. Thank you so much. >> All right. Um moving on to item number six, superintendent report. Good evening, Littleton Governing Board, staff, and community.
007Last week, we're excited to see all of our staff and students return from winter break, ready to learn and continue to expand the success of the first semester. Since our last meeting, students and staff have had the opportunity to showcase their talents and interact with our community in a variety of ways. Third graders at Lake Prep Academy created their own wax museum to help illustrate the lives of historical and famous people. It was a fun and educational experience to participate in for the students, staff, families, and myself. I had the opportunity to visit the gift from Santa event at Littleton STEM Academy along with the Cashing Has Heart event at Diny Hill Park that both took place on Saturday, December 13th. Each of these events supported families within our community and our dedicated staff was
008able to be involved, too. Prior to winter break, I was able to attend multiple holiday performances from around the district. These events showcase many of the talented students from around the district. Thank you to all the staff and student throughout the district that put on holiday performances. Your efforts and talents were truly appreciated. Last week, staff returned to our sites a day before students and engaged in professional learning opportunities. This learning gives our staff an opportunity to collaborate and grow as professionals to foster new skills that can help advance the skills of our students. 012Thank you again. Thank you, governing board. [applause] [applause] All right. >> I am excited so much. Thank you for everyone who put together that video. Um, and for our little goodies. I am sure that our fatheads will get put to good use um in the future. So, >> moving on. >> So, we'll change up the sports. >> Okay. All right. More than anything, he represented what we value as a program, toughness, unselfishness, and a comm commitment to the team. At this time, we would like to invite Jeremiah and the Collier Collier team to come forward to receive their 2025 basketball championship banner. And congratulations, Collier. Next, I'd like to introduce Tiffany Jones Bowling and Pat Tilman from the VFW for um presentation of our next teacher award. So, if you'd like to come on up, okay, awesome. All right. I don't care how many times I get up here, I'm always so nervous. But good evening, um, superintendent, president, members of the governing board, distinguished guests, educators, families, and community members. My name is Tiffany Bowling. I am the junior vice commander of the Pat Tilman Memorial VFW Post. And this is my cohort, uh, Mr. Robert Bera. It is truly an honor for us to be here with you this evening. Post 40 proudly serves
023Aenddale and the surrounding communities by supporting veterans, active duty service members, and the next generation of leaders. One of the most meaningful ways we do that is by recognizing educators who model excellence, integrity, and service. All qualities that strengthen our schools and our communities. The VFW Teacher of the Year Award is one of our highest honors. This evening, we are proud to recognize outstanding educators at the elementary and middle school levels. I am also proud to share that both of our first place recipients for the teacher of the year award are also district 3 first place winners and are currently being judged at the state level with the state level judging commencing on February 1st. At the elementary school level, we are honored to recognize exceptional educators whose dedication and impact stand out among many
024deserving nominees. This evening, our runner up for teacher of the year, we had a tie, goes to Lake Prep Academyy's Andrea Jacubic. [applause] and from Estraa Vista STEM Academy, Miss Jenny Lopez. [applause] These educators lay the foundation for lifelong learning through patience, creativity, and commitment. They foster curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning that students will carry with them for years to come. Let's see. I got some goodies. Both of these awards have a $300 check attached to it. Uh, Miss [applause] Sorry. >> [applause] >> And at the middle school level, we are proud to recognize an educator who guides um students through a critical period of growth academically, socially, and personally. I think I messed it up somewhere, but I'm just going to read the names. We have Nora [snorts] Abuja from Quinton STEM
025Academy who was our first place winner. [applause] And we also have a first place winner. I don't know how I messed it up. I'll figure it out. But this is a first place winner with the first place check. And it might not be middle school, but it's Linda Espino. >> [applause] >> Are you both middle school? [laughter] >> [applause] >> Okay, congratulations to all of our honores. Thank you for your continued dedication to our students, our schools, and our community. Once again, those last two winners were also winners at the district level and are competing um for teacher of the year for the state of Arizona at this time. >> Thank you. We appreciate your support for our staff. >> [applause] >> And that is it for all of our highlights. Thank you. Okay. Um,
026now I'm going to give a few minutes. If you need to leave or doing dinner, homework, anything like that, this is the time. Okay. Um, there is not any call to the public. So, moving on to item number nine. Is there a motion to pass the consent agenda? >> I would like to pull the item Yes, I would like to pass the consent agenda with the exception of AO, the school participatory budgeting at Littleton ESD partnership agreement. >> Is there a second? >> I can second that. >> Mr. Nielsen, all in favor of passing the consent agenda with the exception of item um I think it's now as school participatory budgeting at Littleton ESD partnership agreement. Say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Okay. Consent agenda minus that one item is passed. Um, going back
027to that item now, Mr. Senoseros. Thank you, President Sosenick. Um, I first just wanted this to be more of a an information item and I did send in a list of questions to the administration prior to the meeting. Um just wanted to have more of uh information being shared with the board and the community overall um related to this. Um I'm personally super super excited for this. Um very very few few school districts have had the opportunity to do participatory budgeting. So I'm really excited to see it come to our school district. Um, but I just really the major concerns that I had was just related to when the projects are chosen at the two schools, where is that money going to come from and then how is that process going to play out? Um,
028because I know it's a partnership. So, I think that was my biggest um initial concern. >> Right. Uh, Madame President, Vice President Sineros, the the way the grant is structured is each school gets allotted uh their $2,000. So, we have our two campuses that were approved for this. They'll establish a project and they'll write out the scope and the budget for that. Any dollars that go beyond the $2,000 that have been awarded through the grant, the schools would use some of their um some of their PTO or other funds or some of their student activity funds to help support anything that goes beyond that cost. >> Okay. So, it'll come out of the the site level budget for those two school. Okay, perfect. Yeah, that's just I wasn't really lined out in the in the
029partner agreement. So, I just wanted to make sure that we had the funds available that the students picked this project that were able to actually follow through on the promise of that. Um, that was just more initially my my biggest concern that I had. Um, and then this is just a one-year partnership as of right now through the contract. >> Correct. It's uh for the duration of this this year. So, through the spring. >> The spring. So, starting the next school year. For the next school year. No, it's this current year and it'll go through this spring. >> Okay. >> The project >> maybe it updated. >> Okay. Um, is there a motion to approve item as school particip unless there's more discussion? Um, is there a motion to approve item AS, school participatory budgeting
030with Littleton ESD partnership agreement? >> A motion to approve, >> Mr. Seneros. Is there a second? >> I'll second, >> Miss Barnett. Sorry. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Item passes. Thank you. All right. Moving on to item number 10, governing board officers. Is there a motion? >> I would like to make a motion to nominate Curtis Nelson to be board president. >> Um, Mr. Nielsen, do you accept? >> I'm here. >> I I am here and honored and will do the best I can. Okay. you have shoes that will need to be filled and I hope I can do that if that that approval comes through. >> Is there >> appreciate that. Thank you. >> Is there a second? >> I'll second. >> Okay. Is there any other nominations for
031board president? >> I move the governing board approve Amy Soseneck as board president for the calendar year 2026. >> Okay. Um, I will accept. Um, and I will second. So, I guess we have to have a discussion. >> Does there have to be an agenda? Okay. I apologize. I did not realize. Okay. I apologize. I am out of order. Um, the first motion was for Mr. Nielsen to be board president. All in favor of Mr. Nielsen to be board president say I. >> I. >> All opposed to Mr. Nielsen being board president um say nay. Nay. Okay. >> Abstain. Perfect. All right. So, Mr. Nielsen, congratulations. You are board president. >> Thank you so much. I appreciate that uh opportunity and the responsibility that goes with it. >> Um, is there a nomination? I'm assuming
032the nomination for me is null and void. So, we're just going to take that. So, moving on to item B. Um, is there a nomination for board vice president? I move the governing board consider the appointment of vice president on the recommendation. Move the governing board um approve Linda Stalard as board vice president for the calendar year of 2026. >> Is there a second? >> I can second that. >> Miss Salar, do you accept? I appreciate the nomination, but at this time I do not feel that I am ready to be board vice president. I am honored, but I still feel that I have some learning and growing to do. >> Thank you. Is there a nomination for board vice president? >> Okay. Um, I move the governing board approve Marcus Senos as board vice
033president for the calendar year 2026. Is there a second? >> I'll go ahead and second that. Yes. >> Okay. Motion has been second nominated and seconded. All in favor of Mr. Sineris being board vice president. >> I >> Okay. Um any opposed? and I abained >> abstain as well. >> I'd like to say thank you, Mr. Senos, for your willingness to go ahead and continue there as vice president and working with the board. >> Thank you all for the votes and um look forward to this year. >> Okay. Traditionally, this would be where Mr. Nielsson would take over, but do we want him running from there or Mr. Senator Saras, would you like to Yeah. >> Okay. >> Um, yes, I will. >> You've got the full agenda there, Marcus. If you wouldn't mind doing
034taking care of running the rest of the rest of the meeting, I would certainly appreciate it. >> Okay. Thank you, President Nelson. I will conduct the rest of the meeting. >> Okay, moving on to item C, the instructional calendar. Dr. Lee >> governing Mr. President uh governing board I would like to call up Miss Robbie Mueller who will go through the instructional calendars >> President Nielsen governing board Dr. Feed and executive team. Tonight I print present with you the instructional calendar for the 2026 2027 school year. The version presented tonight is in alignment with the one approved last year with one change. After working with the LEAP committee and gathering feedback from multiple stakeholder groups, the calendar presented tonight shifts the first staff inservice day from a Wednesday to a Thursday on September 3rd. Having
035it on Thursday provides our support staff with the opportunity to participate in professional learning opportunities for the whole day. When the day is held on Wednesday, some support staff leave early as their work schedule is shortened on Wednesdays to align to school hours. The staff inservice falls on Thursday before the long Labor Day weekend with no school on Friday and Monday. The instructional calendar aligns with the Talison Union High School's calendar where possible. Our start date is the last week of July with Littleton ESD starting on Wednesday, July 29th and Talison Union's freshman's starting on freshman on July 31st. The first three days of school for Littleton are early release days for students which is in alignment with the past several years, sorry. Uh fall break is October 5th through the 9th for both districts.
036Veterans Day is observed on Wednesday, November 11th in both districts. Both districts have no school during the week of Thanksgiving and the winter break aligns together December 21st through January 1st. Talison also has Monday, January 4th as part of their winter break and Littleton has January 4th as our second staff inservice day. So students return in both districts on January 5th. Both districts observe Martin Luther King Day on January 15th and 18th and both districts observe President's Day February 12th and 15th. Spring break aligns the week of March 15th through the 19th and both districts have March 29th off for a spring recess/ Caesar Chavez holiday observed. The last day for students in Littleton is May 27th and Tollison Union's last day for students is May 28th. Littleton's calendar does include a testing recess April
03723rd and 26th which Talison Union does not have. I will ask uh and answer any questions that you might have on this instructional calendar. >> Thank you members. Are there any questions? >> I just want to say as a classified myself, I want to thank you for that um September 3rd so that classified can go um to training. I think it's really important and long overdue. Um, so thank you. >> You're welcome. It was a recommendation from Lee and we're happy to do that. >> Vice President uh Senator Sos member Stalard. Um, one thing that we're really trying to focus on moving forward is um ensuring that all of our staff have opportunities for quality professional development. We know often what happens is our our classified staff kind of get left out and they don't
038get the opportunities to learn, grow to be able to support their students. So, we really made sure we made a conscious effort to do that. So, I thank uh Miss Mucil and her team for revisiting that and making that change. >> Thank you. Are there any further questions? >> If not, is there a motion to approve? >> I may have I second. Okay. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? >> Okay. The motion passes. Okay. Moving on to item D2728 instructional calendar. >> We'll just stick with Miss Muso. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> President Nielsson, governing board, Dr. Lefit, and executive team. Tonight I present you with the instructional calendar for the 2027 2028 school year. This is the first time the instructional calendar has been presented to our governing board.
039After working with the LEAP committee and gathering feedback from multiple stakeholder groups, the calendar presented tonight is in alignment with the proposed Talison Union High School calendar for the 2728 school year. It also mirrors the 2627 instructional calendar presented in the last item. Where possible, the Talison Union calendar and Littleton's calendar align. Again, the start date is the last week of July for both districts with Littleton starting July 28th and Tallison freshman starting Friday, July 30th. The first three days of school are early release days for students in which is in alignment with the past several years. Fall break has shifted to October 11th through 15th for both districts. This is one week later than it has traditionally been with the shift being initiated by Talison Union and Littleton aligning the break. The shift also
040allows for Indigenous People's Day to be u observed by staff and students. Veterans Day is observed on Wednesday, November 11th in both districts and Littleton is extending that holiday through Friday, November 12th. Traditionally, when Veterans Day falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, we have attempted to extend that holiday, which allows students um to increase attendance because students rarely come back to school on that Friday. Both districts have no school during the week of Thanksgiving and both districts have winter break December 20th through December 31st. Both districts have staff inservice dates on Monday, January 3rd. Tollison is adding that. That was a recommendation from their um committee that works on their calendars with students returning on Tuesday, January 4th. Both districts are observing Martin Luther King Day on January 17th and President's Day on February 21st
041and Littleton also has February 18th off as we traditionally use the Friday and the Monday for that. Spring break is March 6th through the 10th in both districts. This is one week earlier than normal and this was initiated by Talison Union High School's recommended calendar. Both districts have April 14th and 17th off for a testing recess and the last day for students in Littleton is May 24th and the Talison Union's last day for students is May 26th. I'm able to answer any questions that you might have. >> Thank you. Are there any questions? No. Okay. Is there a motion to approve? I'll go ahead and make an a motion to approve that. >> I'll second. >> Okay. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Okay. The motion passes. Thank you. >>
042Okay. Moving on to work calendars. Item E. >> So, we'll go ahead and hand that over to Miss Mucil as well. >> President Nielson, governing board, Dr. Lefet and executive team. Tonight I present you with two years of work calendars that are aligned to the instructional calendars that you just um approved. So we have 2026 and 2027 and 2027 and 2028 for 10 month certified, 10-month classified, 11month employees and 12-month employees. I'll highlight a few items from each of those calendars and then if you have any questions, I'll be able to answer those for you. Our 10-month certified work calendar for both years includes the following. a new higher orientation for all new certified staff members. A staggered inservice before school based on years of experience with new teachers coming before all other teachers to
043ensure they have dedicated pre-ervice and onboarding sessions. Second and thirdyear teachers also have additional pre-ervice days to support their continued professional learning. Staff on this calendar have seven paid holidays and two all staff PD days PD days throughout the year, September and January. The last day of work for 10 month certified staff is the Friday before Memorial Day in 2027 and the Thursday before Memorial Day in 2028. The first day of work is July 1st on both calendar years. They have two staff inservice days, September and January. Staff on this calendar uh receive 13 federal holidays and seven floating holidays as they have for the past several years. And there
045are 10 compressed work weeks for this employee group in 2026 and 11 in 2027 2028. I'm able to answer any questions that you might have. >> Members, is there any questions? >> No. Okay. >> Um I just I just had one. It's not really a question of just a comment. >> Sure. >> Um I know I think you brought this up a couple of years ago. Has the committee ever considered having like the election day off or we have we ever had that recommendation before? So we have not had anything come to LEAP committee or internally as that. Um it traditionally we would have to extend our start and our end date by one day or have a different holiday off during the year in order to have that day. We'd have to switch the
046day out in order to keep our start and end date the same in alignment with Talson. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Okay. If not, is there a motion to approve? I move the governing board approve the work calendars for the fiscal years 2026, 2027, and 2027 [clears throat] through 2028. >> Okay. Member Stalard, is there a second? >> Member Sosnik. Okay. All those in favor say I. >> I. Any opposed? >> No. Okay. Motion passes. >> And thank you again, Miss Mile, for your work with your committees to get these calendars done. We appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you so much. Okay, moving on to item F, calendar of governing board meetings. Dr. Ley, >> so presented to the board is the uh proposed calendar for the 27 26 27 school year uh governing board
047meeting calendar. Just please review and then uh if so inclined, please provide a motion to approve. And the calendar itself is based on this year this this academic year's calendar. So the dates pretty much align uh they correspond accordingly. Take a couple seconds to go through it. Members have any concerns or conflicts? Any comments, concerns, questions? >> Last night. >> Okay, perfect. Is there a motion to approve? >> I'll go ahead and make a motion that we approve the governing board meetings as presented here for the 2026 2027 school year. >> Okay. Member Nelson. I'll second >> all those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Okay, the motion passes. >> Moving on to item G, contract and wage statement. >> So, we would call Miss Musel back up again. Thank you. [clears
048throat] >> It's on. There we go. We're good. Okay. President Nielsen, governing board, Dr. Lee and executive team. Tonight, I present you with contracts and wage statements for the 2026 2027 school year. Our current 2025 2026 contracts and wage statements were reviewed by the district's legal council. Tonight, I bring you the recommendations for additional language and regular yearly updates. I've lumped our contracts together um based on the changes that were submitted um and we have all of the attachments for um your review in the administrative and the psychologist contracts. The dis we added language regarding um the district may place an administrator or a psychologist on leave unpaid leave of absence if they do not hold and maintain the required certificate and are a valid fingerprint clearance card. We added language rea related to alleged
049mistakes in salary resulting in lower compensation. The language requires the employee to notify the district when 30 within 30 days of the contract being issued. We're adding language around the administrator shall not discriminate or the psychologist may not discriminate against any employee, student, parent, contractor, or any other member of the public because of that person's sex, race, religion, color, national origin, age, or disability. And then there were the normal updates to change the years from 202526 to the 2026 2027 school year. Uh the next contract is the special services contract. Again, we added the language related to alleged mistakes in salary resulting in lower compensation where the employee must notify the district within 30 days of the for the mistake. We're also adding language around the employee shall not discriminate against any employee, student, parent,
050contractor, or any other member of the public because of that person's sex, race, religion, color, national origin, age, or disability. And then the normal updates to the the years were also made. The teacher contract um has uh additional language around the teacher being be able to be placed sorry on unpaid leave of absence if they do not hold and maintain the required certificate and or a valid fingerprint clearance card that they are required to have. They removed language related to the length of time a non-standard certificate is valid. So a non-standard uh certificate used to be valid for one year only issued by the state department of ed and now some of them are issued for two years. So that one year was taken out of the contract so that we can um it can
051be either one or two years. It's not specific. We're adding language related to the alleged mistaken salary where the employee must notify the district in 30 days. There is the same language around the discrimination of [clears throat] any other employee, parent and student contractor that I have read previously. And then there were normal updates um to the dates for the contract. The last one is the wage statement. They did add some language that is in our contracts related to the fact that the uh district can provide incidental food and beverages at mandatory meetings to include professional development activities in service and staff meetings. This language has been in our contracts for several years but not in the wage statement. So we're adding the recommendation is to add that this year and then the normal updates
052were made to the dates. I can answer any questions that you might have. >> Any questions, members? Um I just have one question um regarding the um discriminate part. >> Um in past time, have we ever had um gender or or sexual orientation included? >> We have not had anything related to the discrimination clause in our contracts. So this language specifically was added by our legal council word for word. We did not modify anything. This is their specific recommendation. >> Okay. Could we um in a future board agenda get that sent to the board just on the basis of if we were to add in sexual orientation or gender identity in there? >> Clarify because it it's it is added in the document. >> The person's sex, race, religion, color, national orientation, age or disability.
053doesn't say sexual orientation or gender identity. >> So, Mr. Sincero, that was not asked um or recommended by our legal council >> to add to our contracts. Um if we bring it back, that means that we would not be able to move forward with preparing our contracts for release. >> No, I'm I'm okay. I'm okay to pass it tonight as is, but I just wanted future consideration if that can be. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yes. >> Thank you. Are there any other comments or questions or concerns? >> I just have a question um with regard to um where's like the teachers and the psychologists and and various ones. Is that pretty standard um with regard to if they abandon their position or if they um if they quit that they have to pay the 10 days
054back plus anything else. Is that is that the standard that >> it is standard? Um some districts have a set amount um but many districts have 10 days. That allows for more fairness if you use 10 days instead of having a set amount because then it it wouldn't be dependent on what that employee makes individually. >> Thank you. >> Of course. >> Thank you. Um if not, is there a motion to approve? >> I move the governing board approve contract and wage statement language for fiscal year 2627. >> Okay. And I'll second. >> Okay. All those in favor say I. I. I. >> I. Motion passes. Moving on to second reading of policy FF, naming facilities. Dr. Lefit, >> good evening. Uh, Mr. uh, president, vice president, governing board. We um, we were asked to
055bring back policy FF as we had taken it earlier for board consideration. There was some uh, asked for some modifications to be made. So, if you notice on the red lines, a couple of items that were added and or deleted. We had the word deceased was deleted and uh or was added so that it wasn't so that it wasn't exclusive of anything so that if there were someone who were or were not deceased, they could still meet that. And then also, there was a request for the word may to be changed to will. So, that modification was made in here as well. Uh we believe the way that is presented now that it helps support the district so that if there are any situations or opportunities where land is offered to the district, it wouldn't
056exclude any of those uh parties of offering that land to us. >> Thank you Dr. Lefy. Members, are there any questions or comments? >> I just have a question. Um, so with regard to the party having made a unique contribution to the district, how is that determined? Is that is that bit subjective or is just like is there a guideline? >> Right. Uh, Mr. President, Miss Miss Barnett, uh, board member Barnett, it's it's it's subjective, but what typically happens when you go through this process, you have a committee in place. So the committee begins to establish what that criteria looks like as they start to ask for names. So, some some districts go purely through a survey criteria. Some begin to create a more extensive rubric. It's just all going to be dependent um on
057the district at that time and what's decided by that committee. Um thank you. For me, um the ORE part, um I reviewed a lot of other districts named facilities. It's basically this this but just without the ore. Um I do get the point of putting that in there. Um you know maybe there is certain individuals who legacy will stand while they're alive um before they've passed away at an early time. But um just going based on our own lived experience in our own district that a majority of our schools are named after either a landmark or an individual um whether a superintendent or a family who donated land. Um, so I feel like having the and part would be more of my own preference, but um, I get adding or with the person having been
058deceased, but then I think that opens it up to way for future boards and future um, district leaders to be able to just name a school after somebody for simply being dead after 10 years. So, um, that is my only major concern with having ore in there. Um, I don't know how everybody else feels about it, but simply just having ore in there kind of blocks out either or, but um, yeah, just my point. Um, I feel like having the ore there, I don't think it'll necessarily say, okay, just because someone has passed for 10 years that they automatically will be a building named after them. I think that the key part for me is having the community feedback and the community helping to decide the names of buildings. That is something I definitely want.
059I do not want someone while I would love for like a millionaire to come donate a bunch of money or land and then suddenly assume that a building is going to be named after them. Um I would really not want to see that happen just that. And so I like that community part and I don't believe that our community will give feedback saying that a building needs to be named after someone just because they've been dead for 10 years. It's just kind of my feeling. >> Yeah. Thank you, Member Soick. Um members, are there any more comments or questions? If not, um is there a motion to approve? I move the govern I move the governing board approve the second reading of policy FF naming facilities. I second. Okay. Member Stalard. Um all those in
060favor say I. >> I. Any against? If not um the motion is passed and moving on to our last discussion item. Dr. Lefit. So final discussion item really is actually for the board as as um in previous years there are certain attestations that and acknowledgements that board members should adhere to or sign off on. Those items have been attached. Typically this item is brought uh just for review of any questions that any individual may have so that as the signing as you sign on these additations you just have knowledge of what you're signing. >> Okay. Um members are there is there any discussion on this? I know Ada had print out the documents for us to sign. So thank you Ada. Um >> so Mr. Mr. Sarah, this is this just me. I if you're
061signing them tonight, I guess when I get back into town, I can come in and sign those. Is that how we'll work? >> Yeah. Yeah, I'm assuming Ada will reach out to you to set up a time. >> Thank you. I appreciate that. >> Okay. If if there's not any other further comments or questions or concerns, uh we will move on to item 13, future agenda items. Are there any items for members to request or any thing they would like to request for a next board meeting? Okay. If not, uh we'll move to adjournment. Is there a motion to adjourn? >> Before you adjourn there, I just like to tell all of you thank you for putting up with me coming in electronically. Thank you so much. >> Okay. Thank you, Member Nelson. >> I'll
062make a motion to adjurnn then. >> I'll second. >> Okay. >> Member Senic seconds. All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> Good night, everybody. Thank you for joining. >> Good night. Thanks, guys.
