Madison Virtual Academy Science Class Information

001Hello my name is Dr. La Joi Gardner and I am  the Madison School District Science Coach   and Coordinator and I would like to share details  about our Madison Virtual Academy science program.   The Madison Virtual Academy science program is  designed as a teacher facilitated semi-self-paced   inquiry learning program. As a semi-self-paced  inquiry learning program that is teacher   facilitated, students are provided  with their weekly learning assignments   expectations and goals. Students engage in  science learning activities that develop   a deep understanding of science concepts aligned  to the Arizona and national science standards.  These learning assignments include interactive  reading, interactive inquiry activities, interactive   lab investigations and simulations, group  discussion blogs, online science journaling,   and performance based tasks. The Madison Virtual  Academy science teachers will provide the details   for the weekly learning assignments, expectations,  and goals for students on the class web page.   Students are expected to complete  and submit all learning assignments   by the end of the last day for each school week.  This offers students and families flexibility   by self-scheduling their science learning weekly.  Science teachers will continuously monitor each   student's progress, provide feedback, and be  available during the school day for academic   support answering questions and providing  one-on-one virtual support when needed. Madison   Virtual Academy science is a unique learning  experience beyond the traditional classroom   that offers students the ability to learn  independently through inquiry, flexibility with   semi self-paced learning, and the availability of  one-on-one teacher support.
