001Welcome to Madison Virtual Academy. I'm Casey  George, Director for Signature Programs and   Director for Madison Virtual Academy. MVA  is a unique opportunity for families who   want their child to learn from home. We have  created an online system that is versatile,   straightforward, and provides tremendous  supports. Each core class has been uniquely   designed to provide the best instruction for its  content. First we have English Language Arts.   students see a live teacher daily between 90  and 135 minutes to learn ELA and social studies.   The teacher uses breakout rooms, discussion  boards, and visual supports during this time.   The student sees and works with their classmates  on a daily basis. Math is different. Math is   completely self-pacing. We know math is an area  where students at the same age can differ greatly   with math competency skills. We use a unique

002curriculum and a program to teach and monitor   student progress. But unlike a typical self-pacing  program, your child will have the ability to see a   live math teacher daily for any type of assistance  they may need. Now science is in between ELA and   mathematics. Science is more of a self-scheduling  program. So we do have a science program that   kids go through unit to unit and learn. But our  MVA science teachers create videos. They create   videos for kids to watch before the unit. They create  videos and lessons during the unit. And they create   videos and lessons after a unit. And the child  can download these videos anytime they want. In   addition your child's science teacher is available  every day, live, to provide tutoring or help.   Now just because MVA is online doesn't mean  we don't know the

003importance of providing   opportunities for in-person activities.  MVA students will have access to   in-person online electives. So they can have their  electives either virtually or in person at one of   our school sites. P.E., art, music, dance and we're  actually looking at a few other options as well.   MVA students can try out for our athletic  teams. MVA students can participate in our   school's after-school clubs. MVA students  will have opportunities to participate in   in-person field trips and science labs. Now this  is not a requirement, it's simply an opportunity   if you and your family want to take  advantage of it. Our flexible schedule allows   families to prioritize those things that  are important to them. Now you might have   a lot of questions, still. Well that's what our open  house is for! So Wednesday, June 23rd from 6 to 7

004pm   will be here right at this website, live. All you  have to do is click the button next to our video   and you can talk to that specific person with your  questions. You can select the button next to mine   and you can talk to me and ask me any questions  you like. I'll be more than happy to speak   with you. Now I'd like to thank you for  watching my video and enjoy our open house!
