001[Music] There's jobs that nobody's event thought of yet, that you guys are going to get into, if you have this kind of literacy with technology. You know my... since day one I've been saying, "I want you all to be highly paid engineers, or musicians, or 3D designers.' That's my hope for you. The more technology and more skills and the more engineering you do, the more options you have. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. You use math to complete and engineering project. You use the science to demonstrate that something works and it makes sense. But also the art component to kind of give life to everything we do. It gives kids that hands-on approach to what they're learning and they can make something or create. As a teacher, I do a lot of
002hands-on activity, it engages students, puts different ideas together, and pushes them to use what they've learned in order to apply it to, just different real-life situations. We have a school that's all about innovation and all about creating and doing things just slightly different. We get to know what we want to be when we grow up and it gives us an idea. It gives me a lot of opportunities to choose different careers and learn different skills. Our vision statement here at Madison Park is to cultivate and empower innovative leaders of tomorrow. And I think the "A" in STEAM, that "arts" is how we do that. It's one thing to teach someone the skills and how to solve a problem, but to be able to do it in a creative, unique, well thought out and designed way,
003that's where the arts really teach them those skills to apply what they're learning in other contents. I think arts are important because art can be found in all careers. My favorite thing is kind of unbounding students. Allowing them the tools of the future to create things that no one has thought of. They have so much potential to see what they can create. My favorite part about teaching STEAM is the questions the students ask. They are curious and I enjoy hearing what they wonder about and being able to guide them to new discoveries. At Madison Park there's this feeling of community. I think my favorite thing about Madison Park really has to be my ability to just be at home. Like, here, all the teachers are super nice. Friendly environment. We have fun while learning. Everybody
004just really wants to see the students benefit because we know that we'll be passing the world down to them and they'll be guiding our future. When I grow up I want to be a doctor. A veterinarian. I've always wanted to be a materials engineer. [Music]
