Dave stressed. Two words bad. to change the do we need to modify the agenda. >> Yes. policy. >> Yeah. >> Motion to amend the agenda for snow. >> Okay. Where are we putting that? >> Oh, how consent. >> Just do get it out of the way. Just do it right away. >> Okay. >> If everybody's agreeable. >> I'll just propose that. >> Okay. You're gonna Okay. >> Okay. Good evening. We'll bring our meeting to order. Um, thank you all for coming. Let's stand for the pledge. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> [snorts] >> Okay, I will ask the board to uh review the consent agenda items and uh
if you see anything that needs to be pulled uh please pipe up. If not, uh then we can uh move along to approval of the meeting agenda. Um and uh because we have um new information on the snow ice day forgiveness, uh I would ask uh if anybody is comfortable with that to make a motion to approve the agenda with the addition of uh snow ice day forgiveness um under the action items. And I would just suggest uh putting it right after consent agenda. >> I'll offer that motion. >> Okay. I'll support. >> Okay, good. We have a motion uh to approve the meeting agenda with that change. Uh any discussion hearing? None. Then uh all in favor of the uh um approval of the uh modified agenda. Raise your hand. Any opposed? Same sign.
All right. Motion carries. Thank you. All right. So, we have an agenda and that brings us to Sanborn. Good news. All right. Well, we decided to have some fifth grade representatives join us today. Our fifth grade class is a wonderful group and uh there's 38 of them who will be leading Sandborn this year. And so we selected a few of them um who could just kind of share some of their memories. So I want to say thank you to the parents who brought them in tonight. Thank you very much for your support now and um during the school year and we are going to let them we are going to let um them take the stage. Parents, if you want to get a video or a picture, feel free to come on up. Hello, my
name is Nathan Young and I am in Miss Guzman's fifth grade class. These are the things that I am glad my little brother Jack will experience in his first year. I am so happy that he'll get the experience of going through kindergarten at our school because he'll get to go through a school that is so welcoming to all students. I think he's going to love the library and all the books he'll have access to. I'm [clears throat] also glad that he'll have his big brother Will at his side to guide him. When I grow up, I would like to be a scientist. Hi, my name is Carter. One of the things I will always miss doing here in S in San Elementary is having all the kind staff welcoming me like they knew me since
day one. Another thing I will miss doing here is hanging out with my friends in gym class. >> Hi, my name is Amelia, a fifth a fifth grader at Samborn Elementary. Today I'm going to talk about memories, things I like about Samborn, and some things I'll miss about Samborn. I have lots of memories, which makes it hard to choose one, but my first one is all the field trips from all the years that the amazing teachers made possible because I know getting to go on a boat or go to the army base is not an easy thing to do. I am going to miss all the welcoming teachers and friends that are here at Sandborn. Yes, Sambour is a small school, but it doesn't make it any different because it just makes me fit in
better. And I'll miss Samborn when I have to move to the junior high. When I'm older, I want to play on the women's UCLA basketball team. Hi, I'm Kennedy Clark. I'm in fifth grade and I love everything about Samorn, but I really like that our school is so small. I know, weird, but it's really nice because all the staff members know my name and they are so nice. Also, the school is so small. I feel like I just fit right in. I'm going to miss the school so much, but I know I'm going to be okay in middle school because of the experience I've gone through at this amazing school. And when I want to grow and when I grow up, I want to be a pro dirty by Gracer. Hi, I'm Oilia and I'm
currently in fifth grade. I'm going to be sharing some things about Sandborn. On my first day, I was so happy to come to a public school after 2 years of homeschool. As soon as I came to the second grade classroom, I felt so welcome. One of the most challenging things to do is going to be leaving Sandborn. All the teachers at Sandborn are so supportive. In conclusion, I love Sandborn. I'm going to miss Sandborn when I leave for junior high. And when I'm older, I want to be a marine biologist. Hi, I'm Indigo. I'm a fifth grader at Sandborn Elementary. And I'm going to share some of my experiences at Sandborn. I love Sambborn for many, many reasons, but my favorite thing about Sambour is all the teachers and staff. They have all supported and
helped me through my learning experience here at Samborn, and I'll miss them so much. I also love going to a small school because I know lots of the students and pretty much all the staff. I am super nervous for the junior high, but our school has prepared me to do great and understand what it's like to switch classes. I will miss Samborn so much when I leave to go to the junior high. And when I'm older, I want to be a lawyer. [applause] >> So, you can see why I knew I could bring all sorts of different things from what our students have done this year. Um, but I just kind of had a second thought last week that our students are really showcasing how they feel about Samborn. I want you to know I
did not um make them say any of that. We sat together, some of us in a room and they kind of generated the ideas. Um, and it was just so fun to hear what they thought of Sambborn, what what they wanted to add and what was important from their experiences. So, um, thank you to each of you. We also wanted to, um, show you this year we worked on our tiered fidelity inventory, which was, um, really looking at our PBIS in our building. And as we did fidelity checks this year, it was enlightening to me to just see what other buildings do as well. And so one of the things we wanted to add was a chant or some sort of like motto that we did each day that would just kind of orient students
to um the start of our school day. So um semi-willingly I have some friends here who are going to show you what that chant is and um what we have brought to uh the school this year. So why don't you spread out a little bit? >> Yep. That's perfect. You can leave it up. >> Are you ready? You can put down your papers if you need to. >> All righty. P is for pride. >> We show pride. >> A is for accountability. >> We own it. >> C is for cooperation. >> Work together. >> K is for kindness. >> B kind. P A C K. That's our way. >> Yeah. And so our uh um PBIS acronym is PAC and it stands for pride, accountability, cooperation, and kindness. And so this was something that we
brought um to our building each morning, but also we do it at the assembly um that we have every other week. So thank you to our fifth grade friends who are willing to show that. And thank you so much for coming. >> Thank you. [applause] >> Thank you all for coming and uh for that great presentation. Thank you. >> Um madam uh Mr. President, I'd like to recognize the fifth grade teacher, Rey. >> YAY. >> [applause] >> THANKS FOR BEING HERE AS WELL. All right, great. Uh then that brings us to uh citizens uh delegations uh to address the board. Do we have public comment tonight? Public comment going once, going twice. Okay, seeing no public comment, we'll move along to uh action items. The first is the approval of the consent agenda. >> Families
know they are allowed to leave. >> Okay. >> I move to I was just going to say if anyone would like to leave uh Miss Nudson to um >> you're welcome to leave. It's okay. Now is the moment. >> It's not rude. >> It's okay. Thank you [laughter] for coming. >> It only gets more exciting here. >> Yeah. >> I move to accept the consent agenda items as presented. >> Support. >> Okay. We have a motion to accept uh or or approve um the consent agenda items. Uh any discussion? Well, no, we don't typically discuss the consent agenda. So, there it is. Um then uh we'll just have a show of hands uh for those who approve of the motion. Okay. Any opposed? Same side. All right. Motion carried. We have an approved consent agenda.
Uh then the uh the next item will be the uh snow ice uh forgiveness uh action uh which uh is the result of recent developments in the uh legislature and discussions of the superintendent uh with uh uh Mr. Gluing who is here tonight also. Um so take it away. So unfortunately no uh no decision yet. Um the the good news uh since last time we spoke publicly um the house was not scheduled to take up this issue. Um that week they did uh passing a version of snow day forgiveness last Thursday. Um 95 to 5 I think was the the vote. So it passed with overwhelming support. However, it still has to go to the Senate. Um, there can be modifications in the Senate and then ultimately it has to go to the governor for
a signature. So, I have nothing to share other than it looks like we're going to have to make up fewer days than we had said with our worst case example of the 18th. Um, possibly the way it's written right now, we interpret that to be the 15th, which is a Monday. Um, but again, we believe that there will probably be some more forgiveness that comes down the pike. So, um, in the interest of time, uh, prior to this meeting, some board members and I were speaking about could we pass a motion, uh, authorizing me to make that decision based on what the, um, legislature ultimately decides. Um, because you'll remember last year we had to call a special meeting for the board to make that that that approval of whatever that decision is. So, um,
thanks to Superintendent Gluine for sharing that his board did the same thing, I think this week or last week, um, just kind of authorizing the superintendent to when and dare I say if the legislation ever makes a decision that I can make that decision on behalf of the board and then we don't have to come back and and take action again. So, uh, the the, um, motion that he used, uh, or his board used was it's recommended that by the board that the board approve the additional forgiven time if approved by the state and authorize the superintendent to complete and submit all necessary documentation to finalize the request. >> So, I'll make that motion. Support it. >> Did you want to see? Okay. Um, >> we have a uh motion in support. Um, would you
read that one more time just for the for the board and the public just to to hear it again? [snorts] >> It is recommended that the board approve the additional forgiven time if approved by the state and authorize the superintendent to complete and submit all necessary documentation to finalize the request. >> Okay. Yes. And it's not a very strange thing to authorize the superintendent to do things like that. So, uh, we can think of, I'm sure, a few examples where the board has done that. Uh, any other discussion? >> It saves us coming back for [laughter] it. [snorts] >> Yeah. And again, I apologize to everyone here and hearing my voice. Um, we did this this time last year and, uh, just not sure how we light. I guess the good news is after the
meeting last week with uh you know NESA or Northern Michigan legislative group um it sounds like most of the superintendents got on the email horn so to speak and reached out to legislators and they moved it to action because it was not scheduled. So I again I encourage you now it's in the Senate and uh suppose it wouldn't hurt to start writing the governor and saying as soon as it comes across your desk you need to sign this so we can get some answers but apologize that we don't have any information to share at this point. >> I've heard it's been a great uh letterw writing assignment at the junior high for the students to like tackle. So >> can you include links like you did before any community member that wants to write? >>
Yep. >> Absolutely. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Uh any further discussion? Uh if not, um given the import of this, it might be appropriate to do a roll call. Um [snorts] >> member Fritz >> I. >> Minehardt. >> I. >> Member Dazinski. >> I. >> Member Hansen. >> I. >> Member Costain. >> I. >> Member MacArthur. >> I. >> Member Lawson. >> I. All right. Motion carried. Thank you. Um so then uh we can resume uh the printed agenda here. Um additional it additional business requiring board action uh the AMA ESD proposed general fund fund budget resolution and Mr. Justin Gusen uh superintendent of the AMA is here to present um and uh thank you for coming. >> Uh good evening. I actually wasn't uh scheduled to be here. Atlanta actually had to postpone their uh
board meeting. I had a conflict so um they canceled. So, I'm able to to come tonight. >> Wonderful. >> This is uh an annual process. Those you who have been on the board will recall that annually by statute we need to bring forth our general fund budget uh in advance of coming here tonight. I hope you had a chance to review the video information that was uh sent out. Uh I hope that answered u all of your questions. We did have to uh we did catch an error in the initial exhibit and we did uh forward a updated exhibit for you to review, but I'm happy to answer any questions that you might have had from the video or here this evening. I did appreciate the video and and the question I was going to
ask was about why the amount had reduced. Um and I appreciated you going into some detail about that. Um that uh that made a lot of sense. Um anybody else have any other comments or questions on that? >> Seems straightforward. >> Mhm. >> I'll make a motion to adopt the preamble and resolution as presented. >> Support. >> Okay, great. We have a motion and support for that resolution. Any uh discussion? Do we need to read that out loud or we just good to >> Well, sometimes we read resolutions >> just for clarification or is it >> um Yeah, we can. Uh it's it's pretty short. Um so, um at a uh I can just read what we have here. Um filling in the blanks at a regular meeting. I imagine it would be a regular
meeting of the [clears throat] board of education of the uh Alpena uh public school district uh held on the 18th day of May 2026 at 5:30 uh p.m. Um the following members were present and that would be everyone um and no one absent. Uh the following preamble and resolution were offered by member >> Minhardt and supported by memberitz >> Fritz. Whereas this board received the ISD general fund operating budget on or before May 1st, 2026. And whereas in accordance with section 380.624 of the Rise school code, this board must now adopt a resolution expressing its support or disapproval of the proposed ISD budget and must submit to the ISD board any specific objections and/or proposed changes uh the board may have to the budget prior to June 1st, 2026. Therefore, be it resolved that the
ISD general fund operating budget for the 2026 2027 school year be supported or disapproved for the reasons attached here too, and that the SEC secretary of the board is hereby directed to submit a copy of this resolution to the secretary of the ISTD board of education along with any specific objections or proposed changes uh to the budget. Um and then it's just uh eyes and nays and um then it finishes the underside and duly qualified and acting secretary of the board of education uh which would be our own uh summer um of Michigan um hereby certifies the foregoing is a true and complete copy of a resolution adopted by the board at a meeting held on May uh 18th, 2026. the original of which resolution is a part of the board's minutes and further certifies
that the notice of this meeting was given to the public under the open meetings act uh 1976 public act 267 as amended. So there it is. Okay. We haven't voted on that yet though. I got distracted reading that whole thing. Um yeah. Yeah. We'll do a roll call on this one. Uh so if there are no further uh comments, no let's let's proceed then. >> Member Fritz >> I. >> Member Minehart >> I. >> Member Costain >> I. >> Member Hansen >> I. >> Member Dazinski >> I. >> Member MacArthur >> I. >> Member Lawson >> I. Motion carries. All right. Thank you all very much and thank you Justin for coming. Appreciate it. >> Okay. That brings us to custodial supplies. Um, you have your uh memorandum uh in the packet and the bid
tabulation and uh is uh yeah the he's I was going to say Simon's already in place. >> So >> yeah, any questions on custodial supplies? >> I can make a few summer. Did they get the highlighted copy of the >> Yes. >> Yeah. The consumable. Good. Good. >> I know I'm moving ahead, but I just >> I just highlighted mine. >> I'll make a motion to approve the recommended custodial supplies bid as presented. >> Support. Okay. Uh, we have a motion in support for the custodial supplies. Any discussion, questions for Simon? >> Pretty. >> I guess I I don't like the vagness of that motion. No. >> Yeah. >> Uh, because we got what, four different vendors. Simon did. >> Yeah. Let me flip back here. I think we've got four vendors and we're approving
a one-year uh price hold on those products from four different vendors. So, >> okay. >> Would you would you be more comfortable if we just uh reiterated the uh the vendors? >> Um and >> I I guess Okay. I just >> seems vague. >> Yeah. and and we can name I mean I guess if you want to name them off I mean we're going to award a one-year contract. I mean I don't want to go through every product but you know to Pyramid School products uh KSS uh Eagle Supply >> it's okay. >> Yeah. So >> but there was one more or >> move closer. >> I think you move your mic. >> Oh >> it wasn't me. >> There's only three vendors. >> Yeah, I just see three. >> Yeah, three. Three vendors, AJ.
>> Okay, let's just roll. >> All right, you're all right with that then. >> Yep. Um >> okay. No further comments or questions then we had a motion. >> Yes. >> Who was the motion? >> Anna and Eric. >> And Eric. Okay. Great. All right. Let's proceed then with the roll call. >> Member Minhart. >> I. >> Member Dazinski. >> I. Member Hansen. >> Hi. >> Member Costain. >> I. >> Member MacArthur. >> I. >> Member Fritz. >> I. Member Lawson. >> I All right. Motion carried. Thank you. Um, that brings us then to the copy paper bids. >> Uh, no. >> No consumables. >> Oh, I'm sorry. Consumables. Yeah. Thank you. Um, yes. >> Uh, the jet lag's getting to me. >> Um, yes, consumables. There we go. And, uh, you have the memorandum.
Um, >> I move to approve the recommended consumable supplies bid as presented. >> Support. Okay, we have a motion and support. Any discussion? >> We have three vendors for those as well. >> This one wasn't highlighted though. Oh, or is is that the last column, Simon? >> Uh, >> is that who we're >> uh No, Amelia had a little techn technical glitch on that. So, uh, we should be using, uh, United Sales for all of our paper products for towels, uh, flatfold rolls, uh, toilet tissue, and facial tissue. Uh, and then we're using Unipac for U 55gallon can liners, the 45gallon can liners, and the 12 to 15, and then Central Poly for the 30 gallon can liners. So, >> okay, everybody clear on those based on my rigorous testing methods. So, >> did we
have a motion? Did I miss that? >> No, we do. Yeah, okay, we've got a motion and support. >> So, um any further discussion hearing? None. Let's proceed with that roll call. >> Member Dinski. >> I. >> Member Hansen. >> I. >> Member Costane. >> I. Member MacArthur. >> I. >> Member Fritz. >> I. >> Member Minhart. >> I. >> Member Lawson. >> I. All right. Motion carried. Uh, now we can get to the paper bids. Uh, you've got that in your packet as well. >> Yep. >> I move to accept the paper bid as presented. >> Support. >> Okay. We have a motion and support. [clears throat] Any discussion? You do have highlights in your packet for those items. Recommendation is for contract paper group for the highlighted items under the listed vendors for
0292627. Okay. Hearing no further comments or questions, let's proceed to roll call for that. >> Member Hansen, >> I. >> Member Costain, >> I. >> Member MacArthur, >> I. >> Member Fritz, >> I. >> Member Minhartt, >> I. >> Member Dazinski, >> I. >> Member Lawson, >> I. Motion carried. All right. Thank you for that. And thank you, Simon. >> Um, all right. And then we have Ufly. And uh is uh Stephanie? There she is already appearing. Thank you for coming up. >> Okay. Um, so you can see that we added in on um the page after the memo so you can see the actual individual pricing. I showed you briefly on the screen, but you can see what we're ordering of each thing. And then the total is $160,370.35. And this is all coming
from 35M funds. Um, so it's all grant funded. I'll make a motion to award the UFFLY print order bid to Algra Printing Services for the total amount of $160,370.35 as presented. >> Support. >> Okay, we have a motion and support. Any uh discussion on that item? >> That was for three years of materials, >> correct? Yep. This is the one where Algra is partnering with >> with an another Algra. They're they're they're providing the service through the Algra downstate, but it's >> okay. >> I'm not sure the I don't know if they own it, if the Alpena Group owns it or if they're they're in connection with each other. >> Okay, good. >> But we've been working with the local vendor to get the quote. >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Any further discussion of this item?
Questions? >> All right. Uh, hearing none. Let's proceed with a roll call on that as well. >> Member Costain. >> I. >> Member MacArthur. >> I. >> Member Fritz. >> I. >> Member Minehardt. >> I. >> Member Dazinski. >> I. >> Member Hansen. >> I. >> Member Lawson. >> I. Motion carried. All right. Thank you very much for coming up. Um, okay, great. That brings us to the journalism club account and uh we had a presentation uh last time uh on that. Um and uh I don't think he's here to present again. No. Uh but that's okay. Um and I did watch that on the video. Um glad it finally worked out and he was able to to present to the board. So um okay. Um so uh a motion to approve uh recommendation is
a motion to approve the creation of a financial account for the journalism club. >> I would offer that motion. >> Support. >> Okay, we have a motion and support. Any discussion of the journalism club account? >> Uh a board member just shared in their uh description that it has a statement about AI use and it's strictly no AI use would be allowed. I think it's a timing issue. So we'll just have the um the AI committee work with uh the Mr. Hoff uh to make sure that that policy is or their practice is in line with our policies going forward. So, >> okay. Any other comments, >> issues? >> Just the financial. Yep. >> Right. Right. Well, >> clubs are in existence. >> Yes. Exactly. Um, okay. Well, um, since it is, uh, creating a
new account, um, might not be crazy to do a roll call on this as well. So, unless there are any other issues, let's proceed. [sighs] >> Member Minehart. Yes. I >> member Dazinski. >> I >> member Hansen. >> Hi. >> Member Costain. >> I. >> Member MacArthur. >> I. >> Member Fritz. >> I. >> Member Lawson. >> I. Motion carried. All right. So, we have that accomplished. Thank you. Then that brings us to the 2526 retirees recognition and appreciation resolution. And um that was not originally in your packet, but you should have a handout. But I'm going to go ahead and read the proposed resolution um and uh just so you know uh what it is and so the public knows and we want to uh again offer that uh tribute to our educators. So
the uh resolution uh reads like this. A regular meeting uh of the board of education of the pal Alpena public schools was held in the central office building 2373 Gordon Road, Alpena, Michigan on May 18th, 2026 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Members present and it will list all the members because everybody's here. Um the following preamble and resolution were offered by member whomever it is uh and seconded by uh whoever uh seconds. Whereas the Alpena Public Schools has been fortunate to have a dedicated staff committed to the mission of the district. And whereas several members of that staff are now about to embark on new adventures in life away from Alpena Public Schools. And whereas we as members of the Alpena Public Schools Board of Education wish to extend our utmost appreciation for the work that
these staff members have done to make education an exciting and joyous experience for the students of our district. And whereas the board of education wishes to extend our sincere best wishes for every happiness in the future to those staff members who will be leaving the district at the end of the school year 2025 2026. Now therefore be it resolved that the Alpena Public Schools Board of Education recognizes and appreciates the service of those employees departing the district. And I will read the list. Um we have Cynthia McMasters 20 years of service. Tamara Cliss, 5 years. Kimberly Barson, 29 years. Diana Nelson, 28 years. Amy Brownidge, 27 years. Katherine Brown, 13 years. Judy Ori 2 years. Donald Schultz, 7 years. Terresa Kjorski, 7 years. Deborah Balor, 27 years. Mary Hannah, 31 years. Gloria Washik, 10 years.
Robert Lzinski, 15 years. Julie Manning, 28 years. Michelle Ilsley, 32 years. Lisa Ray, 12 years. Steve McCort, 30 years. Jeff Jones, 32 years. William Bright, 30 years. Philip Cook, 30 years. Gretchen Tolen, 27 years. Matthew Pley, 31 years. Rachel Byer, 24 years. Patricia Zetkowski, 17 years. and Elizabeth Olsen 38 years uh and wishes these uh and sorry and wishes them well in all future endeavors and further that this resolution of appreciation and support be duly recorded and spread across the minutes of the Alpena Public Schools Board of Education on this 18th day of the month of May in the year 2026 and then it will list the eyes's and naz and the date it was adopted. So that is the proposed resolution. >> I will offer that motion and resolution. I will make a motion
to approve the recognition and resolution of the 2526 Alpena public schools retirees as presented. >> Support. >> All right. We have a motion and support for the resolution. Any discussion? >> Thanks. Welcome. A lot of great staff >> indeed. Oh, I I didn't mention >> total. Yeah. >> Yeah. It was 52 years. Yes. 552 years combined years of service. >> Wow. >> Do we have to accept the res? >> We already accept We've already accepted them at some point. We can't go back. >> Yeah. This always comes up and I don't think we can get away with that. >> Keeping them on board. >> Yeah. We tried with summer and it didn't work either. So, >> anyway, uh any other discussion? All right. Uh hearing none, uh let's proceed with a resolution or with a
roll call on the resolution. >> Member MacArthur >> I. >> Member Fritz >> I. >> Member Minehart >> I. >> Member Dinski >> I. >> Member Hansen >> I. >> Member Costain >> I. >> Member Lawson >> I. Motion carries. Okay. So yes, thank you all. Um and thank you to all of those staff members um for your amazing contribution to our district. Uh all right. That brings us then to uh policy. Um and uh I just want to uh mention first um that uh there was a an email and a request to post policies before we vote. Um I would be surprised if anybody on the board had any objection to this. Um and uh we can request that going forward with our next board secretary that those uh be live linked uh at
the second reading. So, and when the public goes on to look at the agenda, then that can be live linked. Um, but uh as it is for this meeting, uh we will post these uh after the meeting. Uh but we will proceed for for now. >> Can I make one quick recommendation? >> Yes, Matt. >> It's a semantic. So, I'm going to ask you to number your pages on your policy. It's easier that way. Just one, two, three, four. If you can go through and do that, then I just want to point out uh there's we have a title change from the director of instruction. >> Okay. So this is about your the policy you're going to discuss the online blended learning. Yeah. Okay. Uh before you before we get to that I just want
to mention that one other thing. We're going to pull and delay uh item G the volunteers policy. >> Yeah. 8120.09. >> Yep. Yep. Um >> just for further review. >> Yep. So that uh was presented to me just before the meeting began. Uh so we will uh hold off on that one. Um but yes. Okay. Okay. So, I think we're ready to proceed with the uh policy 2370. >> Okay. So, if you can just number it 1 through 4 on your pages. This is policy 23701. It's online blended learning. It's easier for me to walk you through that without having it up on the TVs. >> Okay. >> So, once you finish your numbering, if you go over to page three up towards the top, it is letter I. It's a large paragraph. Talks about
the director of instruction. I'd recommend change that to assistant superintendent of K12 programs. So Stacy and there's a slot there and also one below it just keeps things synced. That's it. Quick and easy. >> [clears throat] >> So I will make the motion to approve policy 2370.01 as presented with the corrected changes also presented. >> Support. >> Okay, we have a motion and support. Any discussion? Okay. Uh hearing none then uh all in favor of the uh uh 2370.01 uh policy with the uh amendment uh just just mentioned raise your hand. Okay. Any oppose? Same sign. Okay. Motion carries. So we have uh a an approved policy. Uh thank you for that, Matt. Um okay then u that would bring us to the rest of our policies which uh I don't know if you want
to go through does anybody want to discuss any of those policies any of the particulars uh apart from the general uh recommendation to approve the the recommendation is to approve the revised rescended and new policies as presented and uh that was all done at the last meeting. >> So moved. Well, would that if you're pulling G, would we also be pulling J and K? >> I was wondering about >> to resend the volunteer res. >> Okay. >> Yeah, >> just resend them and then hold off on G. >> Yeah, it's a it's a minor thing. I just need to talk with [snorts] >> Okay. about system usage. So, that's >> okay. >> Does knowing that move you to second now that Yeah, because we can Yep. Second. >> Okay, great. So uh we have an
official second uh to the motion to approve the revised rescended and new policies as presented with the uh with the uh exception of G which is is going to >> Did you get it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Any discussion? Any more discussion of that? >> Okay. All in favor of the uh uh changes uh the revised revising rescending um and approval of those policies raise your hand. Any opposed? Same sign. All right. Motion carried. And as I said, those will be posted uh after this meeting. Uh will those be um >> Tomorrow. Will it be they'll be posted in the body of the policies online or will they be posted >> right now? >> Just the way you're like in the minutes? >> Yep. >> Okay, great. Thank you so much. Okay. Uh then that
brings us to uh our human resources staff update. So Michelle, come on up. Right. We have several professional staff for recommendation. Alex Alexander Hawkins is behavior consultant for K12 programs. Bethany Bruning is our elementary teacher at Ella White. Bailey James is elementary teacher at Wilson. Addison Marco is elementary teacher at Besser. Edward Nick Nichols is an elementary teacher teacher at Wilson. William Rings is the atrisisk liaison for K12 programs. Michelle Tatara is a math teacher at AP um at the high school and Alyssa Valance will be an elementary teacher over at Wilson. And they'll all be starting in August of next year. Oh wow. >> So in the fall. Um support staff. We have Kayla Faircloth Faircloth um is an IA at Thunder Bay Junior High. Autumn Johnson is an IIA at Besser. And Sarah
Rabido is an IIA at Thunder Bay Junior High. All started in April. And then we have some resignations. So, just a recommendation from your for your professional staff. >> Yes. Very good. Thank you. Um Okay. Any discussion?
>> Can we get a copy of that at some point? Just to read the names. We didn't get one this time. Just >> Oh, it never got sent. >> That's fine. Just >> Okay. Thanks. >> No problem. >> Yes. Great. Thank you for that. Um, good. Any other discussion? Okay. Hearing none. Uh, show of hands. All who approve of the motion. All right. Show of hands. Same sign. Oppose. No. No opposal or nobody opposes. Um, sorry, the jet lag is still messing with me. Uh, I'm lucky to be awake at this point. Um, so, uh, that brings us to charitable gifts. >> All right. [clears throat] Charitable gifts. Dennis and Ruth Rebo gave a generous monetary donation valued at $30 to support the students of McKenna Aventto and families in transition. Um, again, it was a wonderful list. Uh, all right. That
brings us to information and proposals, letters, and communications. Anything? Okay. Uh, nothing there. Uh, that brings us to reports and information from the superintendent and staff. And you do have an update. >> Yes. Uh so it's a great time of year. Lots of things going on. Celebrating a lot of our students. So had the opportunity to uh bash our top 10 students were celebrated today at the Rotary Club. Uh it's something the Rotary does annually. Uh bring them over, meet the the members and have a nice lunch and then each kid gets introduced to the the group there and celebrate it a little bit. Um this weekend, ROV, our UR squared team, uh won the regional mate competition on Saturday. Uh they had 230 points. Sorry, 500 and uh well 230 in the the pool.
Uh they had over 500 total points. Um sort of a domination of that competition. And so now they are headed off to New Finland, Canada, uh St. John's, which is interestingly enough where um the the Titanic crew uh the movie The Titanic uh they they housed their operations there and then went out into the Atlantic to do all their filming. Um so anyway, it's the international competition. Um and it's I think their fourth year in a row going to that. So that was great. Uh and then just one interesting thing um with Noah here uh APS administrators myself toured uh the Viking Octantis last week um which was wonderful. I think I found a new lifestyle that suits me well. Um luxury cruising uh but uh it was really to uh further expand our opportunity
for our students to partner with Viking. Fun fact, Viking has a chief scientist. That is a job. And her job is to ride around the world on this ship and conduct water experiments, air experiments, and probably a whole bunch of other experiments that I'm not aware of. But it's a crew of three that are scientists, uh, you know, professionally trained and educated, and their job is to go around the world conducting experiments on a, uh, cruise ship. So, just a little bit of career awareness for our kids out there and maybe some reflection on career choices for the adults. Um, but um it is kind of exciting because our our ov team has been developing a float. Um, and when they get that float finished, Viking is going to take that with them to Antarctica
and use that float to do some tests and then share the results back to uh our students here. Um, but it was really a opening conversation of what else can we do? Um the ship comes in 20 plus times a year. Um it's a great opportunity for our kids to partner with Viking um doing real uh life application of scientific projects and experimentation. So hope to have more updates on that. Um and they may come in remotely because I might be uh I don't know in Antarctica on the cruise ship or something. So u and then of course graduation's coming up and everything. Uh but it is just a good week uh for our district. >> Well, thank you. Any questions for Dave about his update? >> If not, uh that brings us to information,
questions from board members. Anybody have anything? >> I would just like to give a thumbs up to the Sandboard students. That was some very well- read students. Mhm. >> So many times you get people that they're reading and they can't even read nicely. And for fifth grade students, that was excellent, >> dude. Anybody else? If not, uh that uh brings us to the uh closed session. Uh so we um would be looking for a motion to move into close session. I was just checking this does not appear to be anything we need a roll call vote for. So, uh, we would just be, uh, going, uh, into a regular close session. We would be, >> yeah, just there would be, uh, action after this. >> There would probably be action. So, if you're, if you're
headed out, uh, and you are really interested, uh, you can come back in once we open back up. >> I move to go into close session to discuss a non-renewal. Okay. >> Support. >> Okay. We have a motion and support to go into close session for non-renewal under MCL 15.268A. Any discussion? Hearing none. Show of hands uh for the motion. Any opposed? Same sign. Okay. Motion carried. Uh so we will be going into close session now. Uh after return to open session, we do anticipate taking some action. Um and um there's that. So I think we'll be staying in here. So yes, we must ask you to leave. >> And does anyone plan to stay uh >> Yeah. Yeah. Is anyone planning to stay from the the public? >> Show of hands. Anybody planning to
to to come back? >> Okay. >> No. Okay. >> Yes. We don't want we don't want you standing out in the rain and and being uh miserable. Um so we would like to make provision for you if you would like to stay and come back. >> But if not, thank you for coming to our meeting. >> [music] [music] >> I love you. Heat. Heat. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> Hey. Hey. Hey. >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> I'm Hey, I want Hallelujah. Happy birthday. >> [music] >> Okay. >> All right. Well, we are back in open session. Uh and uh I will entertain a motion to >> All right. I'll make a motion for the non-renewal of the probationary teacher discussed in the close session >> support. Okay. Uh
we have a motion and support. Um do we have any discussion? >> Okay. Um hearing none. All in favor of the motion of non-renewal raise your hand. Any opposed? Same sign. Okay. Motion carried. Uh so that uh uh concludes our business. Um we have advanced planning uh June 15th workshop June 29th regular meeting and with that we have exhausted our agenda and uh we are adjourned. So thank you all very much. Do you think they're polar?
