I would like to call this meeting to order at 7:01. >> Would we please recite our mission statement together? Our mission is to inspire and empower our students to reach their full potential through opportunities and experiences in a safe, diverse, and collaborative environment. >> Miss Windless, will you pledge of allegiance, please? Thank you. Roll call, please. >> Trustee Anderson, >> present. >> Trusty Belttowski, >> present. >> Trusty Dyro, >> Trusty Sterlin, >> Trustee Stanovic, >> present. >> Trusty Wall, >> present. >> Trusty Wless, present. >> Thank you. We have a quorum. At this time, I would like to recognize um Mr. Marvin Olowski, who passed away. Mr. Okowski was a former teacher and principal at Party Elementary School. And I would also like to um recognize um the unfortunate passing of Mr. Andywami who was

our high school graphics design teacher for many many many years and a product of D7 schools. If we could please have a moment of silence. Thank you. The adoption of the agenda. Be it so resolved that the board of education accepts the November 19th, 2025 agenda as presented. A board member may request an item be moved from the consent agenda to the superintendent's recommendations. May I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Moved by Mr. Wall. >> Support. Supported by Trusty Sterlin. Any questions or comments? Roll call, please. >> Trusty Anderson, >> yes. >> Trusty Dyro, yes. >> Trusty Sterlin, >> yes. >> Trusty Stanovic, >> yes. >> Trusty Wall, >> yes. >> Trusty Wless, yes. Trusty Bowski, >> yes. Motion carries. Thank you. At this time, we will seek public comment on agenda items.

Is there any public comment on agenda items only at this time? Seeing none, we will move on to superintendent reports. Mr. Kleinance, >> thank you. Two items this evening. The first is the superintendent's midyear review discussion. So, it's that time of year. Um, we um usually have our attorney uh Jeremy Chisum come in and guide the board through the process of the midyear review. And so he is available on December 3rd and checking availability um to see if in fact we can get uh folks here for a special meeting at 5:30 um to do my midyear review. >> I'm looking at you, Treasurer Wall, because you are >> it's before it it's before the next board meeting. Yeah, we were looking at a policy meeting on the 3, but I talked to the chair and

she said we could flip that to the 19th if that works for everyone. >> Okay. The other option we could do is do it after the regular board meeting on that night since our board meetings seem to be um shorter if you could not make it and then if anybody else agrees, we could do it afterwards. How does everybody feel about that? >> I would love that if it's possible. Um, I can check if he can make it. >> Yep. I know he could make the 5:30 on the third. >> I can ask him if we can push it back. Maybe do it at um the the main thing on the next agenda will be the all of the policies. >> All the policies. >> You guys are going to have some reading ahead of

you. But um so the agenda is usually for November and December. A little short anyways. Shorter. So maybe like at 8 o'clock. Mhm. >> I would say 8:00. Yeah. >> Okay. >> I wouldn't say any later than that. >> I mean, I don't put a wrench in it, but what if we moved the board meeting up to like 6:30 would screw you up? >> I wouldn't I I mean, I wouldn't say move the board meeting up, you know, if we don't have to. But you know if it's the policies you know thank goodness you don't have to read the actual just the names of them you know to actually >> but um what I was going to say though is that uh it also depends on how the agenda it's a light agenda and that

could be a very quick meeting >> Miss Dyra. Thank you. >> We could also do um have food available at 5:30 have the special meeting start at 6 because that meets your time frame correct and do it special from 6:00 to 7. Yeah. Six. Yeah. Six. So, so with my job, I usually a lot of times I can work up to 7 PM. So, that's that's why I don't want to commit anything before 6:00 p.m. because I want to make sure that, you know, I'm completing my other job. So, >> okay. >> I was just trying to think of, you know, >> I I like you're thinking outside of the box. Yes. Food available at >> 5:30 and then Yes. If we're going to have Jeremy coming then >> and he comes from >> out

of the way. So, >> and six would be easier than 5:30. >> Okay. So, why don't we do that? >> We'll do that then. So, we will have that meeting then at um 6:00 before the regular board meeting. >> Then we will just have our you know the food available a little bit earlier. >> Miss Anderson, are you okay with that? >> Yes. >> Miss Windless, are you okay with that? >> Yes. >> Miss Stanvic, you're okay. and Eric Tanya. Okay, >> very good. Thank you. >> Awesome. Thank you so much. The next item on superintendent's report is um a presentation. Uh we have Daniel McKenna. If I'm going to say that, I'm probably going to mess it up. They call him Mr. Mac Malini. So, Daniel, welcome. So, if you want to come up

here, we have a short presentation. >> Could we ask how is pronounced though? Yeah, it's Mhenny. It's It's been >> Mr. Mac Mr. Mac. That's Yeah, Mhenny. I always knew if Marker was calling or something, nobody ever could get the name right. So, the board of education is certainly aware of you stepping in and helping one of our students who was >> choking. >> And so, um, I know you've been through numerous trainings, but to actually have it happen and step in and help one of our students, help one of your students, um, is just absolutely amazing. So, from the bottom of all of our heart, we thank you, Daniel, for stepping up and stepping in. We have a certificate. I'll read it from on behalf of the board certificate of recognition. A huge thank

you from the district for jumping into action and saving a student who was choking. Your quick thinking and calm response made all the difference. We're so grateful for your aoric I can say that word care and jumping in. So, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. We have some swag from the board. Your certificate. >> Thank you. Thank you. picture. >> Well, we're going to make him give a speech. Yeah, >> the pony. I told him got to do a speech. >> Go ahead. Um, I'm just going to set this over here. So, I mean, I was just doing what needed to be done, but I did want to say that there were a lot of people involved beyond just me. Um, start with the kids. It's a ninth grade English class. The kids were awesome.

It was like two girls that got my attention because it was happening behind me. The kids were all quiet and calm. I told two of them to run to the office. Um, they left right away. They got to dab and Miss Jordan in the office. They got the medical team. The kids were all quiet while it was happening. Um, Clarence, security was there super quick. He got the kids out of the room. They all left like immediately. Um, like Aaron and Kevin and the counselors were there super I mean, it felt like this was going on forever to me cuz I'm just like, "Oh my gosh, I hope I'm doing this right." And you know, she better stop choking because I don't know if I can deal with it if she doesn't. But it felt

like forever. But they were there super quick. Um, as soon as it was done, they're like, "All right, you can't eat or drink anything." the paramedics are on their way like took her to the office, checked in with me, made sure I was okay. Counselors were there right away to talk to all the kids about, you know, what happened and right, you don't want to talk about this, right? This is an embarrassing, you know, sensitive moment. Um, so, you know, thanks to Mr. Per and Mr. Mlette, Miss Crocky, and um, Marshall, the the teacher I was working with, and the kids, and I don't I feel like it's like an Oscar speech. I got to thank everybody, but like there were so many there were so many people involved. um like the process just worked

how it should work and fortunately everything went well and I mean I guess a lot of that starts here as well like making sure the trainings are in place and there's policies and just like I don't know everything if it was my kid I'd be like you know that went exactly how it should have. I'm glad my kid was taken care of and supported the whole way through. Um so that was nice and one kind of funny story about it. So it's English class and the teacher is trying to teach this idea of like descriptive language, right? like a walk's not just a walk. Is it a stomp? Is it a tiptoe? Is it a strut? And so the girl that happened to, she's very quiet. And so he had these little charade cards. And

for whatever reason, she volunteered that she wanted to do one. And so she comes to me, she's like, "I'm a little nervous. How could I do this?" And I explain it to her and she does it and it goes well. And then she weighs me over and she's like, "I never do anything like that, but like it just sounded so fun." And I was like, "Nice job." You know, like stepping out of your shell and doing something different. And uh so you know what was the reward the teachers gave all the kids who volunteered that day? Uh the candy of course that she choked on. So what can you do? So I made sure to talk to her afterwards and try to tell her that wasn't a lesson from the universe. That was just random

chance. You should continue to step out of your shell and try new things. And uh she told me a few days later that actually um her throat was bothering her that day. And so she had her mom take her to the hospital. And of course they're like you were choking. It'll feel better. It's fine. But they discovered that she had some sort of like a heart condition that she wasn't aware of. So she's been going to the cardiologist now to see about that. So it might have been something that was, you know, >> yeah, a blessing. So >> um I had heart surgery when I was in high school as well. So that's another thing we bonded over besides this. So um yeah, it's been >> Yeah. So hopefully ultimately something good came out of

it and not just >> that scary experience. But thank you very much for >> everything. Yes. Oh, absolutely. I do it again so quick. Thank you. >> Great to meet. >> Thank you very much. >> Yeah. >> He's also, and I'm just going to say this all out loud because if Scott were here, he would say it. Also excellent special education teacher. >> Excellent. Thank you. >> Okay, moving on to superintendent recommendations. Letter A, certified staff appointment. Exhibit one. Be it so resolved that the board of education accepts the following certified staff appointment. Paula Hall, virtual teacher, Madison Elementary, effective date, November 20th, 2025. May I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Moved by Trusty Wall. >> Supported by trusty um Windless. Questions or comments? Seeing none, roll call, please. >> Trusty Dough. Yes.

>> Trusty Sterling. >> Yes. >> Trusty Stan Novik. >> Yes. >> Trusty Wall. Yes. >> Trusty Winless. Yes. Trusty Anderson. Trusty Bowski. >> Yes. Motion carries. Thank you. Letter B. Resolution declining opt in for mental health and safety grant under section 31A 2 exhibit 2 in your packet. Be it so resolved that the board of education approves the resolution declining optin for mental health and safety grant under section 31A2 as presented. May I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Moved by trusty wall. >> Supported by trusty windless. Questions or comments? Mr. Kleinand. >> Yep. So I can lead into this. I know that you guys have been doing a lot of reading on this subject. This has become a major issue across the state. Um this the mental health and safety grant. Um the

resolution includes both an opt out and then um also opting into legal challenge to the language that's um tied to this grant. It's very concerning. Um and the key component of this is the district must wave legal privilege to receive this money. And this is what has uh many school districts, many boards have been involved in this process uh really looking at this for a number of reasons. Um number one, the actual language may not be constitutional. That's first and foremost. The the state's not supposed to tie waving privilege to dollars. That's that entities receive. But number two, it opens up not just the school district, but it opens up individuals civily. So board members, superintendents, assistant superintendents, safety people, teachers, paras, it opens up everybody to civil liability or could in the case of

the situation. The other thing is the language um that they use in here about mass casualty is wide open and so open to all kinds of interpretations. Um, and so there's there's certainly an issue with that. I know I gave you guys the information from Collins and Blaha, Miller, Canfield, and Niola that um I know you guys have looked at uh to consider this uh resolution. Niola sent out another one. I got it um today, but it's I got it right at the end of the day today. Um and Jeremy, we were trying to going to try to get Jeremy here, but he couldn't make it tonight. But he is available if there's a question that absolutely needs to be answered after seven. It's after seven. He said he could step out of the meeting.

He's at another meeting right now, another board meeting. So, uh there's just a lot of issues with this to the point where we the superintendent supposed to make a decision to opt in or opt out in November, mid November. They moved it back to the end of November and it just came out today that it gets pushed to December 4th. So, obviously there's some a major issues with this. Um, my big thing is I'm not so sure that if I'm the person signing it that I can wave your guys's rights cuz basically that's what I would be doing. I don't know if I can even do that. And so, um, just all kinds of issues. I would recommend that we move forward with this. We we received this year about $85,000 in that grant. When

this language came out, um I told uh Dr. Getser, don't earmark any dollars for that grant at this point. Um because districts, we may not be taking it, districts across the state may not be taking it. So right now, those dollars are not earmarked. We typically use them for safety supplies in any things that we have to do with training or um if we got to add a couple boots or um update the lights. We put cages I think last year around in the gym around the boot boxes. So those are the kinds of things that we use those monies for. Could we use the 85,000? You bet. What the documents are saying though is taking that money may not may not cover if there is an issue and we knock on wood and pray

every day that certainly there isn't but it may not even come close to covering what the district could open itself up to civily. So with that being said I'll open up for questions. >> Anybody have any questions or comments? Um, now I know MASP just sent an email out about that with the US co the Michigan courts if I'm correct that they're planning on doing the hearing and potentially hopefully have an answer by the 3. Uh, and I heard that the state did move it to the 4th of December. Um, if it does get turned around then would we have the option of pursuing it possibly later? >> Yes. >> Okay. Yes. that the language got changed. >> That the language got changed. Yep. >> Y that's a great great question. >> Okay. >> Yeah.

And Derek and I did talk a little bit about this today if you don't mind me. I mean he called and we were just chitchatting. Um, one of the things that's the other piece of this that is really confusing to a lot of school districts is um, one the impact of insurance and what's going to happen with set insurance and are they going to create a separate pool for districts maybe that opt in versus opt out. There's all kinds of questions surrounding that. Um and Derek asked me to kind of look into that a little bit about house sake and I really think that some of these issues around this are really having a lot of people look at a lot of different things. So we did reach out to our set seg uh folks

to determine and they they really haven't got a concrete answer yet because so many districts are still in the we're not even sure we're going to take this money um in the first place. The other point that uh Dererick made, which I think is a good point, if you do read in the bits and pieces, it's indicating that they're going to um you know, I said we get about 85,000, but they're going to the school districts that take it. >> Apparently, they're going to reissue that money and um so there could be some school districts that are that are receiving more than potentially what they normally would if many districts opt out. at the legislative level. I know that um our legislators are aware of this issue um because obviously it keeps getting pushed back

and I know that they're looking at it and they're having folks look at language. Um I'm really hoping it gets resolved because man, we could use that money, but I just don't think that um that we would be in a good spot taking it right now until some of these issues get resolved. >> Mr. Ley, >> so I'm confused. So, you're not recommending we do it or you borrow? >> I'm recommending that we adopt this resolution which says we're declining the dollars. >> Oh, okay. >> Yep. Yep. We're opting out and we're opting in. Sorry. I >> We're opting out of the money and opting into >> the legal um >> case. Yep. >> So, for this, if we want to your point, we would say no to this. >> Correct. >> So, we would

answer no. Yes. >> Yep. >> No. >> Yes. Yes, >> we are declining the option. >> Oh, declining. >> We're declining. So, we say yes. >> Okay, that's what I want to make sure. >> We are declining. We want to answer yes if that is how you are so called vote. >> I'm recommending that we adopt the resolution as presented. How will that be? >> Thank you, Mr. Fine. >> Okay. >> Yes, Miss Mless. Um, in light of what uh Mr. Wall just shared about um there being some action at the state level that could possibly be resolved by the third. Could we wait to opt in and opt out till the third till that information is revealed since it has been pushed back to the fourth >> or would you recommend us declining it

today? >> What trusty wall ahead? >> I was going to say our next meeting because I looked at this the next meeting is December 3rd and right now it states till December 4th. So, it's kind of like really hanging on a thread there. I mean, I do understand that and that's one of the reasons why I was hoping maybe the lawyer was here to maybe ask that specific question, you know, like because what happens if we do say we don't want it, >> right? >> Can we change our mind on the third if things, you know, get changed and all that? Because it's not saying if like they if they keep it for some bizarre reason, um, then or if they do change it, is the state going to say, "Well, I'm sorry. we're not

re >> right >> uh delegating that money. So that's the only if you know so >> I'm the way I read all of the information and I'll tell you Collins and Blaha did a very good job. The other one was way more confusing. >> It was very confusing >> but um so kudos to Collins of Blaha on that. My understanding though is by adopting this resolution we are declining opt in and we are um going to be joining the other districts ISD school boards and principal that and everybody else to join the petition to the government to the state to say this is not okay the legal action taking the legal action against the state against the wording. So if we don't vote on this right now, then we are not >> going to be

part of that. Does that make sense? >> And I personally feel that we should be part of that. That's my personal opinion. I will let Mr. Kinhance talk more on that. >> No, I think that's a very good point that we are taking a stand that that um that the district doesn't feel that it's in our best interest to do that to take the money. Now, if things change and by December 3rd, our next board meeting, things get ironed out and they're good, then I'll bring back another resolution and have you have see, you know, things get changed. But I just there's just too much at stake. >> So, you're positive that if we decline it today and it changes by the third that we can do another resolution and get back into this? >>

Yeah. So if they moved the date to the 4th, then if we took action before the 4th and I opted in, I made the deadline, then yeah. Okay. I think we'd be good to go. >> Okay. >> Yes, Mr. Wall. >> So that basically be like we are rescending our prior statement that we sent to the state because once again still before the deadline because I don't think there's a I don't know there probably isn't a rule that says oh you're not allowed to change your mind. It's just you have to have your answer by currently December 4th. >> Trusty Dyro. >> So we have a meeting on December 3rd. >> Yeah. And so anything that happens to that point in time, if a resolution or a rescending motion needs to come forward, we can

do that last minute and amend the agenda at that time and meet that December 4th deadline if we if something needs to be changed. >> Because that's another question is even though if we are vote on this today, >> do we have to send out or can we wait till December 4th to officially send it out? So, this will give us um it's it's an opt-in form. So, we'll just be on record and this will go to um our um the supporting the legal. So, this would go to them, not to the state that this district's op opting in. So, or opting out of this, but opting into the legal action. So, this wouldn't go to the state. >> Okay. Trusty Dyra, >> are we done with the discussion on what we're doing? Because it's

about that. But I don't want to interfere with that discussion. Is everybody good? Before I say what I have to say. Okay. I appreciate the call that you made to him tonight. But had you not brought that up, we wouldn't have been privy to the information that you gave to him. So, I just want to say thank you to that. And that is why I, you know, I'm a procedure kind of person. I don't want to ever squaltch anybody making calls to the superintendent, but always keep in mind when you do that, that if it's something that the full board needs to know that, and I appreciate you doing that, that that is something you might want to always have in the back of your mind when you're making those calls to the superintendent, you're

having those conversations. Is it something everyone needs to hear? And this was something everyone needed to hear. So, thank you for that. >> And I know I would just add I it was very clear that Derek did just like everyone here. I'm not calling anybody out. I'm just saying it's really important that we all hear the same things that everyone else hears. >> The other piece of this is so when the budget came out, we had a superintendent meeting, the county superintendent's meeting, and so um this was discussed quite a bit on that day. We are we have another one this Friday and I know this will be right back on the agenda about an update where we're at. are we getting some language change so that we can opt in and get these dollars.

Um, and I'm really hoping that that's the outcome of this, but you never know where the state's going to go. >> And if you could share, you know, any new information you get from that superintendent meeting in your Friday report, that would be helpful. >> The other thing that I will do, and thank you for mentioning that. So I do have the So Cowins and Blaha did put out another this is the document that I received at the end of the day today. Jeremy sent this to me. He said Mark this is a an updated version and of course he said is legal from they they never they can give us information but they don't obviously tell us what to do. We do what we need to do but I'll send this as well because

this is a I may scan this and just send this to you tomorrow. >> So we'll give you time to read this. So >> thank you. Trusty W. >> And I just I just want to clarify. Um when I uh reached out to Mr. Kleinhands, I was just wanting to know if he knew off half Mr. Chisum was coming today. And once I found out that that wasn't the initial plan, I did send it out to the president and >> asking if Mr. Chis coming. Yes. >> That it has to go to the president then. Sorry. Then it can get spread out to everybody if if that's chosen to be passed. But I was just thinking, okay, because everybody could probably benefit possibly if Mr. Chisum was here and but and I but I did

explain there's going to be lots of questions about this. >> Sure. >> Yeah. So it wasn't like trying to keep anything. >> Yeah. No, it was the when you when he said Derek asked me to look at the set seg issue. Um he doesn't take direction from one person, he takes it from the full board and that was the thing that triggered me the most. >> Yeah. And all I did when I was talking to him is I asked, "Do we have set SEG as our insurance?" >> That's all I I didn't There was nothing more pass. >> So I but I I called them. I called them because I wanted >> and I really got a sense that they are still >> checking all their legal figuring it all out to really get it

all figured out. It's just again it put districts and boards and superintendents again um much like an issue that we dealt with a couple months ago in a tough spot where we got to make decisions. There are many districts that um didn't have a board meeting to be able to even do this. So, I'm glad that we had this scheduled. I'm glad they pushed the the time back um so that we had time to talk about it at the table because I I think it's very it's critical. It's it's very important. Any other discussion on this topic? Seeing none, roll call, please. >> Trusty Sterlin, >> yes. >> Trusty Stanovic, >> yes. >> Trusty Wall, >> yes. >> Trusty Willis, yes. Trusty Anderson. >> Trusty Dyra, >> yes. >> Trusty Belowski, >> yes. Motion carries.

Thank you. Letter C. Second reading and adoption of proposed, revised, and reissued board policies. Exhibit three. Be it so resolved that the board of education approves the second reading and adoption of proposed, revised, and reissued NEOLA board policies as presented. Bylaw 0167.2 closed session. Policy 21105, mission of the district. Policy 2110, vision and belief statements. May I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Moved by trusty Sterlin. >> Support. supported by trusty windless. Questions or comments? Seeing Seeing none, roll call, please. >> Trusty Savanovic, >> yes. >> Trusty Wall, >> yes. >> Trusty Winless, yes. Trusty Anderson, >> yes. >> Trusty Dyra, >> yes. >> Trusty Sterlin, >> yes. >> Trusty Belttowski, >> yes. Motion carries. Thank you. Moving on to unfinished business. Do we have any unfinished business to come before the board? Seeing

none at this time. New business. Date of organizational meeting January 2026. Um we know that Mark will not be here for that first meeting in January. Um I think that we should all boycott and go with >> I would take all of you with me in a heartbeat. >> I'm pulling out my phone to look at my >> He doesn't really mean that. I'm good with January 7th. >> January 7th, Miss Devonovic. >> January 7th, Miss Anderson. >> Okay. We will set the organizational meeting for January 7th, at 700 p.m. Okay. Any discussion? More discussion about that? Everybody's good with that? Great. Moving on to points of pride. Mr. Kleinhan. >> Yes. Very good. Um, so, uh, got a couple pages here, but I'll go through them quickly. Sorry, I always take up way too

much time, but I like doing this, so this is good. So, >> good news. >> Yes. Thank you. Um, so certainly thank the community for their support of the passing of the building and sites uh, syncing fund renewal. This will allow the district to continue to make improvements to our facilities for years to come. We also received a correspondence from Sue Carnell. She is the interim state superintendent and Pampow Pew, I hope I'm saying that correct. She's the state board pew education president. And it reads as such. Dear Superintendent Kleinhands, congratulations on on the passage of the recent scing fund proposal for the Dearbornne Heights School District. This support speaks to your community's desire to improve schools for your students. We know that ballot initiatives often take great effort and commitment on the part of

the local school board, you folks, the administration to clearly inform the community of the importance of the initiative. On behalf of the state board of education and the Michigan Department of Education, congratulations on the passage of your ballot initiative. We know you will build on this achievement in the future. best wishes for continued success. I thought that was really cool. Very nice, very classy for them to send that. So, um so then I'll just go through the buildings. Just a a points of pride. One of the preschool teachers, um Carol Debbay, received the teacher of the month award. She's been in the district. She's been in district 7 for 24 years and is welld deserved. So, congratulations to her. Uh Bedford is hosting the annual Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Our entire school comes together at one

huge table to share thanks, good food, and friendship. And I think this is the time of year when every toaster in the whole D7 community gets brought into the schools. >> Yep. I think it's awesome. I've never seen anything like that. I just think it's fantastic. At Partard, our fifth grade students had a successful camp experience last week. The trip is always fun and educational. This is from the building principal, Mr. Leinsky says, "I was fortunate enough to visit the campers on the W on Wednesday morning." And then he goes on to add, "Many thanks to the board and Superintendent Kleinance for approving this experience for our students." So very cool. At Pulp, they'll be holding their second annual turkey trot fundraiser on Wednesday, November 26. So I hope there's good weather for that. I

was at last year's. It was pretty cool. At OW Best, we held our National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony, welcomed new members a little while ago. Congratulations to all of our scholars and a big thank you to Katie Rickson for organizing and holding the ceremonies with the families and thank you to Scott Armstrong for attending. They had a great turnout uh for conferences um and support for the book fair last week. And the thank you goes out to Karen Kaufman. She works in the media center center here and does a fantastic job. and the crew for organizing uh the book fair at the high school. Um this is from Mr. Mlet. Our our students and staff came together in a big way to support each other during a very tragic time. It showed how strong

our community is and how much we lean on each other when it matters most. And just going on to say Andy was a huge part of Annapolis and all of D7. Um and the way everyone rallied says a lot about who we are. Athletics falls sports is wrapping up. We had 10 all league athletes this fall, which I think is really cool in our fall sports. Um, the high school's girls swim team are backtoback WWAC league champs. So, congratulations. Very nice. Yep. And this is from Brian. Winter sports have begun. So, he's uh he's rolling. So, best of luck to all of our athletes. In the virtual program, teachers contacted all the parents during conferences to share the progress of their students and they'll be sending out um semester 2 virtual applications next week. In

the safety area, the red safety go bags have new safety supplies um that are going that actually they've already been placed in the bags for in case of emergency. And then the tech, I thought this was interesting. Uh during the quarter they received 80 customer satisfaction reviews. So when someone puts in a ticket just like everybody like to do anything they ask for a survey um completed their optional survey after their IT ticket was resolved. This resulted in an average satisfaction rating of 4.8 out of five highlighting that most staff are highly satisfied with the level of service that's being provided. So Shaheen keeps on top of those tickets to make sure especially with all of the new technology that you guys purchased that we installed. And so, um, that's good news. So, I just

want to take a minute to wish the board members, staff, students, parents, and community members a restful Thanksgiving. And, um, thank you everyone for supporting D7. Thank you. >> Thank you. Moving on to other business, we have um an update from the policy committee. Yes, >> we do. Yes, we met this evening. Um, we went through the volume 40, number one, updates from Niola. We finished all of those. Um they'll be coming to the board for the first reading um December 3rd and the 2nd December 17th. We um finished all the 2000 policies. Um there were many that um will not be changed, but there'll be some that will be coming. There'll also be some that are being rescended as well. Um, as you look through that packet, if you have any questions, um, Mark

would probably be the b best person to ask to be honest with you because he they him and his staff went through those. They, um, he is the one that made the suggestions to us and he did a ton of work and I can't thank him enough for that. Um we are meeting on uh December 17th and at that time we're going to go into the 3000 policies and a Niola update from November 2023 that Mark found in his uh Niola perusing that we never took care of. So um hopefully and those policies any policies from there that need to be changed and updated we're hoping to get those on the first and second meetings in January. And just to remind everyone in January we do committees again and to please start thinking about whether

you would like to be on this very important committee. >> Thank you Mr. Dyro. >> Can I just jump in? >> Yes, Mr. Finance. >> Yep. So I did the work but the direction comes from Andy. So, I certainly pre appreciate that in terms Oh, Mandy and the committee about getting these updated. But think about it. When this when those when the 3000s are done, who's ever on that committee, then we just start right with the 4,000s. And this is such a wonderful process because it when we get all said and done, our policies are going to be up to date in terms of all of the Neola policies. So we're we're checking the we're actually looking at the templates and our policies to ensure that everything is covered and up to date. So and

it also gives us time to talk about in that committee about the operation of the district not just policies and what are we doing with here and how are we doing this. So, it's really when Mandy first said we were doing all the policies that fell out of my chair, then I got up and as I reflect on it, it really I think is helpful for the district because it will take some work during, you know, uh the winter season and next spring to get everything done, but we're in a better place than what we were when we started. So, thank you. >> Thank you as well. >> Thank you to the committee members, >> Miss Tolini. >> So, I I will say I do it is Mandy driving it. I mean, she is. I

appreciate all the work she's making you guys do and you guys are doing it. But it really is Mandy and I appreciate >> that's kind of you. >> I mean I think we would have gotten through all of them had like I not been gone and put a little hiccup in that for a minute. I really do think we would have a finished model. >> Well, it's just important they're important. That's how we run the district. You know, that's >> how we operate. It's important to make sure we're up to date. And to our uh two uh people in the audience here, our community members, Pat and Melissa. >> Um I mean, they come show up every time, too. I mean, it's great. So, we do have engagement, so I appreciate. >> Thank you. >>

Yeah. It's really good. >> Okay. >> So, the next meeting December 17th. >> December 17th. So, building committee, we don't have any scheduled. >> Not yet. Finance committee, we don't have any scheduled. No. >> And policy committee will be on December 17th. >> Yep. >> At 5:30 here at OW Best in that teachers lounge. Correct. Moving on to public comment number two. Do we have any public comment? I'm seeing none at this time. Do we have any? >> Yes, please. Miss Greer, will you come to the podium? >> I worked with Dan Mlhenny. in a special ed room. And he is the best. He rocks. He left us, but he came back to us. So, it was nice to see him. And he does. He rocks. He's a very good person. >> Thank you, Miss

Graco. Do we have any kudos today? >> Do you want Miss Duff to read it or are you okay to read it? Miss Anderson and her laryngitis >> to Chad Caleb >> Cal from Kelly Giles on November 7th, 2025. Thank you for all that you do

to put our students first and create a positive environment for them. >> Very nice. >> Anything else? Nope. Okay. Okay. Be it so resolved that the board of education adjourns this meeting at 7:43. May I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Moved by Trusty Winless. Supported by Trusty Anderson. >> Questions, comments, roll call, please. >> Trusty Wall. >> Yes. >> Trusty Windless. Yes. Trusty Anderson. Trusty Dyro. Trusty Sterling. >> Yes. >> Trusty Ster R in it. >> Yes. >> And trust. >> Yes. Motion carries. Thank you everyone. Have a happy Thanksgiving and drive safe. Oh.
