you I wouldn't be here and a quick shout out to my bestest friends in the whole world my three siblings the turtle Clan and Eva Marie good evening families and what up grads I am an of vosco this year's student body president and it is with great honor that I get to be on this stage speaking to you all tonight first I want to give a bit of an introduction and it's not for myself but it's for from the people on this stage and it's to the people in the stands or sorry did I say on the stage it's from the people on the field to the people in the stands we are the Mountain View class of 2024 hi nice to meet all of you I don't know if you've met all of us
yet but we are a group that shown exceptional resilience to hardships and will be the strongest class you've met for a very long time we're kind of like the Phoenix you know born From the Ashes we were like freshmen during covid it's kind of the same thing if you ask me but what we've done together is shown proof that we can Thrive when we got the bad start when our schooling looked uncertain and how did we do it by evolving by adapting it was the conscious decision we made that if my circumstances won't change to allow me to succeed then I must change to succeed and boy if we changed well I would say we aged well if you will and you have to give yourself that credit grads no matter who you were logging
onto your Chromebook that first day a freshman year I bet not a single one of us can look inside ourselves now and say yeah that's still me because we were living in it these high school years seemed like they would never end they seemed like the most important years of our lives but there's a difference between most important and most influential our high school years are transitional years they provide us with exposure and help us get used to the bustle of the crowds and the deadlines imagine if just two months after your eighth grade promotion you were expected to start college and by the time you're as old as we are now you're supposed to be finding a job to make your living quite honestly if that were the case I think the class of
0072024 would be in line for the soup kitchen every night everyone knows the high school is supposed to get us ready for the real world but I see something a little different across this stage and off the field past the parking lot and way off out there in the Horizon there's a whole world that for the past four years has been getting ready for us but I'm sure you seen it on the news or hear it in the way people talk to each other there's just something missing a key component that would just set everything right and I'm excited to say grads we are the ones task with giving that world the little piece of what it needs so 2024 I implore you find that key be the key and maybe make a copy or
two because there's a lot of doors we have to open and take a step through give it up for yourself grads [Music] [Applause] and now I would like to introduce my very good friend and your salutatorian Nathan [Applause] pton thank you Mr pres people keep on asking me if I'm giving a speech at graduation and I haven't really had an answer but now yeah I'm thinking I'm giving a speech Administration faculty staff and students I'm honored to stand here today to deliver this speech to all of you first I'd like to thank everyone here who has supported and sacrificed for us to be here today and those I am personally grateful for thank you to the administration faculty and staff they truly make school a wonderful place to attend and learn thank you to my
mom and dad from The Delectable breakfast burritos that make my day to the brutally honest words of encouragement I am forever thankful for your support and I love you thank you to all the parents in the audience today your Relentless commitment unconditional love and meaningful sacrifices do not go unnoticed and has made us in the people we are today for that we are truly grateful thank you to the loved ones relatives and friends thank you for coming here and celebrating with us thank you to the caly Bros Mr kenley's finest thanks for making first hour a blast May some of the things said there be locked away forever except for of course optimization Prime and finally for those of you had to put up with me in high school for the past four years thank
you for your contribution to society being here at graduation today shows that we have not given up we have not let anyone down and we have not run away and deserted our commitment to graduating high school it was our unwavering determination to finish what we started despite the various setbacks that plagued us starting freshman year despite the online Zoom classes despite the standardized tests and despite the dreadfully long summer periods Mr sl's back table were the best we can finally say we made it I can also say that we've learned a thing here or two at Mountain View I've learned that one contrary to school culture and signage mountain lions are indeed solitary animals two when you think the AP psych exam is over Turn the Page and three when working at the snack bar
one spoonful of cheese on nachos is definitely not enough and as of last week if you were skipped in the yearbook or your name was brutally butchered you still matter oh Mountain View I sure will Miss walking through the vibrant colors of black and gray and hearing the melodious roar echoing through the holes seriously is our mascot Monty doing all right that line is making noises that no animal should ever be making trust me but I digress Mountain View truly does hold a special place in my heart and I'm proud to call myself a mountain line as much as I'm honored to be your salutatorian here today and proud of my s for my accomplishments I'm also extremely inspired by those of you I see in the audience today we made it and we've all
been here to witness the tremendous accomplishments each one of us has has made throughout our four years of high school our time here may have been short but the memories made have been those that last a lifetime we have not been confined by any bounds and by taking the limit we know our potential goes to infinity life has a funny way of throwing random things at us us but it's how we respond to those life events that truly changes Our Lives we have no control over what gets thror at us in life but we do have control over what we can do when facing obstacles sometimes things may happen in life that devastate us or other times that make us unbelievably happy but we first have to take a plunge into the unpredictability and uncertainty
a leap of faith if you will and make our lives our own it is not what family we are born in what school we go to or what clothes we wear but our ability to adapt to situations and turn our obstacles into opportunities like Forest scum's mama said life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get I have full confidence that our class is prepared to face the future as we continue on into the future I hope that we all take the Helm of our own ship and Lead Our Lives to an outcome we can all look back and be proud of as you continue to push for your dreams don't forget to have fun along the way as my dear friend Ferris buer and Berto Martinez said life
moves pretty fast if you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it thank you class of 2024 it is now my honor to introduce Sophia of vquez your senior class [Applause] president thank you Nathan my name is Sophia Vasquez your senior class president it's crazy to think the day is finally here our graduation I've always liked school ever since elementary school I've have devoted myself to my grades Sports and many extracurriculars going to high school this has only grown I'm so grateful for the diverse opportunities and friendships Mountain View has provided me I have been able to discover Who I Really Am teachers we all have our favorites and we may even have a favorite substitute they are the unson heroes of our academic Journey they have not only shared
their knowledge but served as entertainers motivators and even a listening ear and a special thanks to miss mccy and her staff for Leading The Way We owe them a debt of gratitude for helping us learn grow and discover our passions let's give them a round of applause for their dedication patience and inspiration to all my coaches I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible impact you've had on not only my life but all of your athletes your guidance both on and off the court field and even in the pool has truly made a great difference in my journey let's all take a second to think back on how far we have come from starting High School on Zoom to ending here dressed in unity this journey has not been
easy but it has shaped us into who we are today as we proceed Beyond high school don't be afraid to do what you believe is best live for yourself work hard for what you deserve use what you have and better yourself high school as important as it is is not your Peak but a part of your journey remember the power of kindness by lifting ourselves and others up we spread positivity that changes our world be kind I'm forever grateful to be your senor senior class president it is because of you that I am on the stage today thank you for all the memories we have made throughout our high school experience no matter how big or small the connection how close or distant the relationship remember to be thankful for everyone in this experience that
we have shared together let's cherish the memories and celebrate what we have accomplished as a class of 2024 thank you I am proud to now introduce our 2024 borian Nora [Applause] Alexander thank you Sophia hi graduating seniors I'm Nora Alexander this year's valedictorian what a happy night your families are extremely proud of you you can't imagine the sense of relief some of them are feeling this could be the perfect time to ask for money tonight is truly a time to celebrate and we've heard a lot of great speeches asking us to remember the best bits of high school and all of our success leading up to graduation as the final student speaker I'd like to switch things up up and ask you to think back to one of your biggest disappointments maybe you got a
bad grade on a final or didn't pass a difficult class maybe you blew the big play or didn't make the team at all perhaps you failed your driver's test or crashed your car or had a relationship that didn't last or didn't get into your Top Choice College while our disappointments are different we have one thing in common we've all tried things and failed my biggest disappointment I didn't land a prestigious full ride scholarship that I thought I was perfect for valedictorian good ACT score president of NHS volunteer work it still wasn't enough for the scholarship committee and the rejection stung I cried I locked myself in my room I ate too much ice cream and listened to too much well just the right amount of Taylor Swift but after a few days I dusted myself
off I refocused my desire to go to college and med school was just as strong perhaps even stronger I got over the disappointment and moveed to the next challenge that needed to be tackled so while we've all tried and failed what's more important is that we're still here putting one foot in front of the other even when the odds are against us scientists have a four-letter word for this character trait grit grit is defined as passion and perseverance for long-term goals people with grit are determined and they follow through they may fail along the way but they learn from it and start again in addition scientists have found that high levels of grit predict future success better grades in college higher performance at work a happier and healthier life so seniors set those challenging goals
trust in your abilities and know that you'll find a way through I'll wrap up with a quick thank you to those who have encouraged me along the way my best friends Angley and Matthew my brother Max my aunt and uncle and my grandparents and especially my parents who've cheered for me through all my ups and downs sounds congrats class of 2024 go out and do great things because I know you're all full of [Applause] [Music] grit thank you so much speakers well done I would now like to address the class of 2024 As We Gather here tonight to celebrate you and your graduation from Mountain View I can't help but remember the questions that surrounded us as we began your freshman year I remember wondering what would High School look like for you how would
we get to know each other would you still have school spirit how would we make sure that no one fell through the cracks and honestly were we going to be okay so as I stand here tonight in awe of you I Rec recognize the spirit and strength that brought us to this moment and the answer to that last question is a resounding yes you are much more than okay the truth is you did it you are powerful both in numbers and spirit this class sitting before us is the largest class we've seen in the last nine years over the past four years you have lifted each other up you looked out for each other you you built strong relationships with your teachers with your coaches and with your friends you jumped in with new ideas
and New Traditions while also holding tight to the Traditions that make Mountain View special you have proven that you were a force to be reckoned with and as I now wonder about your future there is not one question that you can handle anything that comes your way on behalf of the staff and administration of Mountain View High School I would like to congratulate the graduates of the class of 2024 tonight as we begin to announce our graduates I ask that we give each individual the honor they deserve and cheer respectfully as each name is read when the ceremony is over I invite everyone to join us down on the field to celebrate with the graduates the students names will be read by members of the Mountain View staff selected by the class of 2024 at
