it. Um was able to represent us guys. Um so, we had at least one representative this month. Our senior student of the month, Mr. Gunnar Nordin. Um he will be the graduating class of 2026's salutatorian. Um very strong academically and intelligent young man. Um future goals include going to Michigan Tech University. He's still kind of deciding between the various um engineering directions. Um I believe it's either It was um environmental No, what was it? I had written down and I'm drawing a blank. He's He's got it narrowed down to two different fields of engineering. Um super excited to go. I I he He has the wit and the intelligence to be very successful. Very mindful of his surroundings and what's going on around him and will be able to suit that. Um here at Gridley

Middle High School, he's been a part of several different sports teams. Um he has wrestled at times, he's attempted football at times and played. He I think he's played some tennis, some golf. I think he's tried a few different ones, kind of looking for a niche just to kind of be a part of a group. So, outstanding student, um represented us athletically as well, um and off to bigger and better things at Michigan Tech. So, congratulations to Gunnar and Ruby. Um 2025-2026 Para Professional of the Year Come on up, Bobby. Woo woo! Congratulations, Bobby. Thank you. All right, do you hang on to this? Okay. All right, then come over here. Bobby Chambers, 2025-2026 ESPA of the Year So many positive things could be said about Bobby. Adjectives: wonderful, happy, friendly, personable, responsible, reliable, honest,

always kind. These are some of the many qualities that Ms. Bobby embodies. If you need help, Bobby is always first to volunteer or reach out. She has a huge heart and a listening ear. Our students love when Ms. Bobby dresses up in character for spirit week and other fun school activities. Ms. Bobby is an incredible colleague. If you need anything, she'll be there for you. Her positive attitude is top-notch. I have learned so much in this field because of Ms. Bobby. Ms. Bobby is the glue that holds our parent team together. Oh. Sure. I know I saw you were on Facebook already today, but let's Oh, sure. Okay. We got to keep consistent with everybody else. Keep up with the Joneses. By the book. That's it. Public comment? None heard. Financial report. We don't have

Amy here. Did she give you anything specific? Um no, we'll start off with the check register though. Okay. Those checks are in your packets and we're reviewing We start on page 10 and go through page 19. And uh the grand total for this month would be $984,076.63. So, we just need to approve that. Can I get a motion? Make the motion. Second. Any discussion? Is this your doctor's signature here, Mr. Wyman? What? There were I looked at that and I was like, "What is that?" Yeah. I finally found a stylus that works on my phone. Looks like quite quite cheeky. I like the style of it. All in favor? Aye. All opposed? Motion carried. And then we have our financial reports. Those are on pages 20 through 22. Um We have our general fund report.

Our revenue and expenditure report for food service. And our combined balance sheet. Sinking fund report or that's for next, right? Um Any questions or anything? No. Okay. Was there any notes that you took? No. Any notes that you had? No, other than that she's been working on and has completed the grant that we were talking about the 12E and her words were if she were hit by a bus it could be put in right now. Yeah, good. So that's how She just wanted to proof >> Yeah, she just wanted to proof it one more time. It's due May 1st. Perfect. Okay. Um Information. I'll hand this over to Matthew. Okay. Uh strategic plan update. Uh summer school uh posting before the teachers uh will occur. We'll need three teachers. Um In the strategic plan, I

I see summer school as part of the academics because they talk about the slide the learning slide and we want to try to avoid that as much as possible. Um Is there anything more that you wanted to share besides the three teachers in the posting, Marcy? No, it is just yeah. That three teachers like that. How many people? Right, you're still working on the dates. Okay. Um That was the most important under strategic plan. Recognition of girls athletics. Yeah, that was a good one. Um so I had uh put some feelers out to get some information about our girls teams cuz they've been rocking it. Um huge huge big ups to all of our coaches, our girl sports coaches, our boy sports coaches as well, but this is about our ladies. Um the amount of

work that you all put in is is admirable and I just wanted to say thank you to all the coaches and the athletes for kicking butt on the the court and the trails. Department updates. Uh Dave, asbestos, go forth. Well, good evening everybody. Hello. To give you a little update on what's going on in my little world is that during spring break we had TriMedia Consultants here to do the every 3-year asbestos ex- I haven't seen a report yet back, but when I get that, I will forward that to you. Um there is training going on. Um middle of next week, I forget the date, but uh we're going to cross-train Todd Heller, the head of maintenance, with myself, so again, there's going to be two people involved with that. And then looking in the

immediate future, we have the water testing for the lead that's coming up in the first week of June, soon as school is out. So, that's life as I see it. Any questions? Any comments? It seems so. It's not not today it wasn't, but it seems like it on some days. I just like how you're just so calm about it. I didn't know what's not an easy job. Yeah, thank you. Thank you very much. I I hide it well. You do. Thank you and I'll have a good evening, everyone. Luke, you're on. Thank you. Uh just a little winter sports recap here. Uh want to give a huge shout-out to our wrestling team. Um bringing home some hardware, putting number on the banner. First team district since 2017 district championship. Uh six boys individual regional qualifiers.

Evan Stacowitz, Levi Melka, Devin Braze, Evan Armatti, Kyler McGishick, and Ashton Ketola. Including Evan Stacowitz and Evan Armatti both as freshmen. Uh district champions. Uh girls districts as well. Uh I love to see the the girls team continues to grow. They were a huge part of that team district. And they went down and and they competed in their own individual district. Myah Picket, Ariana Aho. Uh they were blood round placers. So very cool to see that sport, that side of the sport grow. Um and then freshman Evan Stacowitz with uh think safe to say one of the best individual wrestling seasons in school history. Um district and regional champion. Uh he placed third place in the division four state tournament uh in the 132 division and he was UP champion here this year. Which I

think is is just as impressive as the um state third place because there's no division in the UP tournament. Um so wrestling against Negaunee, Marquette, Gladstone, Escanaba. So uh real real big ups to him. Um girls basketball under first year head coach Adam Ealy. Nine wins, the most since 2019-2020. Uh they defeated Bark River in the district semi-final for the first tournament win since 2019. Um Michaela Delmont was honored with all UP second team, all Westpac first team, and all MPC first team honors as a junior. Junior Adeline Derwin, all Westpac honorable mention. Sophomore Elena Suring, all MPC honorable mention. Boys basketball, not a lot of success in the win column, but Nate Carter senior, want to highlight him with all Westpac honorable mention, all MPC honorable mention honors. And our seventh and eighth grade

volleyball teams, they they really rocked it here this year as well. Eighth grade volleyball, they were the in-season and end of season tournament champions in the Marquette County League. And seventh grade, they earned their once the one seed out of their pool in the end of season tournament that was held here at Gwinn, and advanced to the tournament final before falling to Aspen Ridge. And then one more thing, just a heads-up for the spring. We have two major track events that we are hosting here at Gwinn. We are hosting the MHSAA Division 2 Regional 43 track uh regionals here on May 14th. And then we are hosting the MPC championships on May 18th. We will need an army of volunteers for for those events. If anyone is interested here, if you can spread the spread

the word to get a hold of me, the more volunteers the better. We'll we'll find a spot for them. So those those are two very very important dates coming up here this spring. So thank you. Thank you. May 14th and May 18th. Okay. Um committee report, athletic committee. Yes, he actually just did a big part of it. Yes. Yes, that's what I wanted. Um So we just had some coaching up updates. We reviewed the 2025 winter season, which he just let us know what it is. Um coming in July, we're going to be talking about middle school and high school across country teams. Um Um we also will be talking in July about uh sixth graders participating um in sports. And then we will also be um talking about stipends possibly for middle school cross

country teams. Um we also are going to try to define our tennis team. See how many people we need on it because we only had three last year and we might have to have to have five players. Um but we'll talk about all that in July. Um and we had two people here, both positive comments um about middle school, sixth grade participating um in track. So, and then we're going to vote on something tonight. So, that's it. Um Superintendent of schools. You bet. Very excited about the prospect of a finance and grants technician. Um difficulty right now is we only have one person to handle payroll. We need cross training uh for that. We need backup. Um the person for this new position would handle contracts, uh Red Rover benefits, ORS. Um now we have

two people who are retired and have returned uh that equate a point four FTE. That'd be Terry. She handles special projects. And Mary Kay, she does financial state reporting and quarterly reporting. As those people choose to not work for us anymore and we and train this other finance and grants technician, then those two positions could be done. I would take Uh so, in essence, it's a 0.6 FTE. Uh the grant part of the position, not only support for grants, but looking for grant opportunities. Uh that would be huge. That would be huge cuz then others can share what what are things that they need and then this position, this person, would be able to have the time within the job um to be able to search for those. I will advertise for 2 weeks and

hope the right person comes along, but if the right person doesn't, we'll be patient. We'll We'll get the right person. Mhm. Okay. That's to get under um And that all was district news, but also board update at the same time. We didn't have any correspondence. Nope. Okay. Okay. New business, action item. Um AHERA resolution and designation initiation. That's on page 28 to 30. We need a motion in support of the resolution. Correct. I'll make a motion >> to support the resolution regarding Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act. Second. I'll second. Any discussion? We should probably let people know what this is. He did. No, I know. Um Does that get posted on on the web on the district website? Dave? The I I hear the question. I'm sorry. The question was to let people know about

the asbestos and hazardous Right. Once we get the the report from Prime Media back that they did in their spring break, then I will distribute that. Um but Todd Heller and myself are going to be the certified people >> asbestos people for this program. And part of it, you're required to do a resolution and designate you Yeah. as that. So this is a congress congressionally drafted resolution or act um for hazardous emergency response of 1986. Comes from the Department of Environmental Protection Agency. How often do we do this? Every year? No. This is brand new. I've not ever seen this. >> Well, that's why I when I read it, it's like I kind of get it, but So I'm not sure if some different legislation passed that said we needed to designate this person, but

this is not been something that I have known to have been done in my tenure here. And the provision of the resolution appoints um a contact person within the district or more than one person to make sure that we are adhering to all of the standards set forth by the EPA. It comes up every 3 years. Once every 3 years? >> Every 3 years, yeah. Okay, and that'll probably help our audience for those who are here. Thank you. I'll stop there. >> Any Okay. Any further discussion? All in favor? Aye. Aye. All opposed? Motion carried. Um And then on page 31 in addition to the schedule B salary grid and it is you That's for athletics. Yeah. And that is the softball we Right now we have a schedule for JV softball. But we do

not have a softball softball JV team. So we are trying to add that because we do have a varsity team and we wanted an assistant coach. And that is just adding him onto our schedule. Okay. Does that make sense? Yeah. Hopefully. That's going to help. So I'll make a motion to add that. >> How's that? Any discussion? All in favor? Aye. All opposed? Motion carried. Um Resignations. Brad Bertocci Bertocci. >> Bertocci. Bertocci. Uh eighth grade girls basketball coach, Gwyn Middle High School. Effective date of resignation, March 24th, 2026. Adam Eli, seventh grade girls basketball coach, Gwyn Middle High School. Effective date of resignation, March 25th, 2026. I'll make a motion to accept the resignations. Second. Any discussion? I have a question. That's just a formality that they Yeah, it's the formality. They're still on They

coach at the at the varsity JV and varsity both for the girls program. Is that at the head of the beginning of the school year we'll see or the beginning of the sports season we'll see them under the employment column I would assume? Correct. Whenever Luke gets those positions filled, he'll he'll forward them my way and then we'll add them in. So but rest assured, Brad and Adam are still here on our coaching staff. It's just they're giving up those middle school positions to focus more time at the higher level. All in favor? Aye. All opposed? Motion carried. We can't technically post a position available until we get the resignation. So, we're just following the chain of command. Yeah. And then employment, Chris Henley, custodian, Gilbert Elementary School, effective date of hire April 13th, 2026.

I'll make a motion to accept Chris Henley. Second. Any discussion? All in favor? All opposed? Motion carried. Uh gifts and donations, Target, two boxes of various school supplies donated KI Sawyer Elementary School and Winn Middle High School. I'll make a motion to accept their gifts and donations with gratitude. Do I hear a second? >> I'll second. Um any discussion? All in favor? All opposed? Motion carried. Um and then student discipline hearing. I didn't think that we would be We're very early. We got here at 7:00, so. You have about seven minutes. Is this shorter? It's a short short agenda. I make a motion to adjourn for a brief period until We could take a recess. Okay, let's uh take a recess for 35 minutes. 30 minutes. Is that going to be cool session? If the

parent has to ask. Yeah, parent has to ask for that. And he has not. Well, they they can't tonight. Oh, I thought it was in advance. No. No. I just figured it would be in the audience. Oh, but that's okay. Well, it's not streaming anyway, apparently. Oh. I just got a message that the meeting wasn't streaming, so. Oh. California. Say again? It's being recorded. It'll be recorded and uploaded later. Oh. It's all there. Got it. There's nothing in real time. Right here. Okay. >> Mhm.
