We'll >> call this meeting order. Please rise for the pledge of allegiance and the invocation following. I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Dear God, please bless our elected officials. Grant them the wisdom to know and the courage to do what is right for all citizens. Amen. >> Amen. >> Roll call, please. >> Alan, here. Leaffor >> here. >> Mr. Dravich >> here. >> Ricks >> here. >> Schultz >> here. >> Warren >> here. >> Yellen >> here. >> Need a motion to approve the minutes for the city council meeting of December 15th. Is there a motion? >> Motion. >> Support. >> Motion made and support. Any discussion on those minutes?

>> If not, all in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. >> Against. We also have uh the special meeting minutes of December 22nd. Is there a motion for those minutes? >> Motion. >> Support. Motion been made and supported. Any discussion on those minutes? Being not. All in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. >> Against. Motion does pass. We move on to audience comments. We have no audience uh this evening at this time. We will move on. Adoption agenda. Mr. City Manager. Any changes? >> No changes. >> City council. Any changes? >> Motion to accept the uh agenda as presented would be in order. >> I'll make the motion. >> Support. Motion been made and supported. Any discussion? Being none, all in favor say I. >> I. >>

Against. Motion does pass. >> We move on. Uh we need a motion for the consent agenda. >> Make a motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. >> Support. >> Motion been made and support according to our rules. There's no discussion on the motion. All in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. [clears throat] >> Motion does pass. We move on to items for consideration. We only have two in the new year here. The first one is consideration of purchasing flip top tables for city offices. Mr. City Manager, city council is scheduled to consider approving the purchase of new tables for the city offices. The 2526 budget includes 23,45 for the purchase of tables for the offices including the replacement of tables in the community room, council backroom, and the police department

conference room. Uh the existing gray tables in the community room and police department were purchased when the building was opened in 1994. Uh the welds have started to break on them. The legs uh don't always lock together. Uh when people don't realize that they can actually be kind of dangerous in there. Uh the tables that are in our back room here where we have our budget workshops and quarterly roundts came from old city hall and I know are in excess of 30 years old. and and again the supports are starting to wear out and and break. Uh so uh we've been looking at different uh flip- top tables uh that'll aid in us being able to just set up the rooms ourselves versus having to have DPW come over every time we need to have

tables lugged around uh which I'm sure they would appreciate. Um and so we did uh work with two companies uh how Hawworth uh Interphase Interiors and then uh Kentwood um both utilize uh purchasing uh programs that meet our purchasing ordinance requirements. Um the Kentwood uh table uh came in lower and a recommendation is to go with them. Uh there has been a sample uh in the back room there. Uh we all looked at it and uh believe this is the way to go. Uh by going uh with this company, there may be enough money left over that we can do chairs, but that would come back at a future meeting. >> Thank you. Is there a motion before any discussion? I'll make a motion to approve the purchase of 34 flip top tables with the

angled legs from Kentwood office furniture in the amount of $18,758 with expenses charged to appropriate line items uh building and grounds uh building additions and improvements. >> Support motion made and supported. Any discussion on this item? >> It's definitely a long time coming. They've uh the old ones have served their purpose, that's for sure. >> And budgeted for we went through our budget workshops discussing this. >> Be nice to get chairs too. >> Yeah. If certainly if there's not enough >> history in those chairs, but [laughter] >> um and so whatever we're not able to purchase with the leftover, we will put in next year's budget. >> Good. Good. Any other discussion here? Being not. All in favor of the motion signify by saying I. I. I. >> Against. Motion does pass. What kind of

delivery time? I didn't I'm sorry. I should have asked that. >> Uh, you know, >> did they say at all? >> I believe they did. I thought it was 10 weeks. >> Okay. >> Uh, I'll I'll double check. >> And is this I'm sorry, I should have brought this up before. Is this also uh the one where color is to be picked? Yeah, we were uh yes, there's a variety of colors. I was going to work with the staff to kind of pick like like for the community room matching tables in there. >> Okay, great. >> What we have they it goes with >> the room in the room. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Great. Thank you. Okay, moving on. Item uh number two is consideration of of Michigan Municipal League spring conference. Mr. City

Manager. >> The Michigan Municipal League's annual spring capital conference and expo will be held March 10th through March 11th at the Lancing Center. Uh reduced early bird registration rates are available through January 30th. Uh funds have been budgeted. Uh if council's interested in attending the conference. Uh so we just uh wanted to gauge interest so that we could do the registration if if there's council members that want to go. >> Thank you. Uh, would council drop our rules and have an open discussion before a motion is made? >> No problem. Okay. Um, is anybody want to go this year? I do not want to go. I went last year and um I don't care to go this year. >> I'm unable to go. >> Huh? >> I talked to the city manager because I thought

maybe that might be uh the case here. Uh when I looked uh at the uh itinerary and the classes that they're uh holding at the Capcom this year, I saw that it it seemed to me that it was more in line with a city manager, not in line with the form of government that we have uh where the city manager runs the day today operations of the of the uh city. So I did uh talk to John. I said, you know, barring any issues here, would you care to go? and he jumped right at it that if uh you know it was possible he'd love to go. So we good? >> Yeah. Sounds good. >> Okay. Is there a motion to that fact? Then >> I'll make a motion to approve city manager John Moore

to attend the annual MML spring conference and expo that will be held on March 10th through March 11th at the Lancing Center in Lancing, Michigan with the expenses charged to the appropriate line item city council conference and workshops. >> Support. mostly made and supported. John, would you like to add your two cents? >> Yeah. No, >> I didn't bend your arm too hard, did I? >> It's been a while since I since I've gone, but I did uh I remember one time I went over for the day uh couple couple different times. I'd be happy to go. Um there are some of the sessions that are of interest. Uh and I think I could bring the information back of course. Uh and it's always good to kind of go over there for that conference, meet

with our state rep and state senator. So, >> absolutely. That was the one good thing that I did see is the breakfasts and the lunches. They set us with our our reps and and other communities in the area um that uh we were from in the morning and in the in the afternoon. Uh same thing with your your elected officials and that could make it to to the lunchon, but then maybe a little bit wider range of other uh elected officials and city managers and that was beneficial. >> Um again, I think the classes would be beneficial for you uh as our city manager and uh you know, you can bring back anything that you believe pertains to our form of government also. So yeah, that's great. I think that works out. Any other discussion?

All in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> Against. Motion does pass. Well, that's the uh ends of our items for consideration this evening. We move on to mis miscellaneous matters from the city manager. Sir, >> uh I have none tonight. >> Okay. Council comments. Nick. >> All set. >> Mike. Uh >> nothing today. Dennis? N. [snorts] >> John? Nope. >> M. >> Nothing. Thank you, >> Jim. >> Just hope everybody had a very nice Christmas and uh happy new year. >> Absolutely. Um we have some uh announcements here. Uh one from the Lois Wagner Memorial Library on January 24th from 11 to 1. Uh it's a craft supply swamp. Any questions on that? 7272665. the um parks and recreation uh department at the Richmond Community Center on Festival Drive. There will be

a senior fitness uh class. One will be functional fitness on Mondays and Wednesdays uh uh starting this uh this week actually. And also uh on Friday only, cardio drum fit. Again, any questions there? 7273064. And then we also have a seniors let's let's talk. It's a coffee and conversation at the Odd on Main Street. That is starting this Wednesday, uh, January 7th, and it will run every 1 and third Wednesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. And, uh, that you can get in there and take a look at the uh, the odd and the renovations that have gone on there and also explore uh, many uh, of the memories from the odd. Also, a cup of coffee, a donut or two, and great company. uh there you can call 5864304950. And we

go to the calendar. Today being the 5th of January, we have a recreation board meeting tomorrow night at 7:00. We have a planning commission meeting Thursday the 8th at 7:00. And uh this Sunday at uh starting at 8:00 a.m. uh the volunteers will all come out and take down the Christmas decorations. uh on Main Street. Let's see. We go into the cable commission. We'll meet on the 13th at 6:30 and two weeks from tonight will be our next regular city council meeting at 7:00. >> Uh Mr. City City Manager, I got a brand new calendar here. When is our workshop? >> It's on that on that. >> It is on the 19th. Yes. Okay. So, council will be meeting on the 19th at 5:30 [snorts] for its uh quarterly workshop. right here at city hall.

[snorts] And again, those meetings are also all open to the public. Um, is there anything else that we have to add to the calendar? If not, um, I just want to say it's it's a new year. Um, we had a pretty successful uh year last year. We we got some of the things accomplished that we wanted to get accomplished. Um, in the park, uh, also the odd uh, so many different uh, facets of the community. uh the uh long- aaited new water line uh on Main Street uh took much longer than uh we expected and and um maybe a little more than what we expected when it came to the roadway. But uh come spring, those patches that people see out there are going to be uh uh looked at and and finished uh properly

uh come spring. Um time had gotten late. uh it was getting real close to uh the plants closing down, the ashvalt plants closing down at that time also. And our uh administration assumed that uh it would be better to patch it the best we can and let it all settle over the winter and we'll come back in the spring and finish it off. So that job is not done as of yet. Uh but it will be um come spring. Um there's a lot of things that we have planned uh that's in our budget. The council had the three workshops in the spring before it was time to pass the budget. Uh there's many items that are going to be happening uh between now and uh July when the new budget would kick in and uh

I'm looking forward to it and I'm sure the city council is looking forward uh to it also. It's an exciting time uh for us to be here and uh we take our jobs very seriously. And uh one of the things I want to explain because it came up uh to me uh the other night we had uh some people that were here uh at a special meeting and and told us, you know, that they were really impressed on how we run our meetings and whatnot. I had a person that came up to me and said, you know, it looks like you guys rubber stamp everything that comes in front of you because there's not a lot of discussion. I said, 'Well, if you'd like to follow our, you know, footsteps, uh, we have three long

meetings going over the budget and like tonight um the the flip- top tables that that was all talked about and gone through and the administration uh reviewed it uh many times and um you know, it came to us. We had already approved. We knew we had to do that. So there wasn't a lot of talk at our table tonight and you'll find that that happens in a lot of the things because we've already talked about all those things and and sometimes you know talked and talked and talked for years about some of the things that come before this city council. So don't don't think that we don't do our jobs or take our jobs very seriously because we do. And [clears throat] uh if you ever need to talk to any of us, we all

live inside the city limits. You you can find us. It's called Google or call city hall and they'll, you know, we'll get in touch with you if you if you want to talk to us. But I truly feel this council and I've been on council for 30 years this year and I feel this council is one of the best councils that represents a a large uh part of our community and and it just makes things so much easier to to look at and discuss and and the needs of certain ages and and whatnot. um on that's represented on the council and all of our commissions. Um we've been very blessed. Uh uh our commissions are completely full and um it's it's just things are going very well for the city of Richmond and uh uh

again if there's questions, please contact the city manager and if you need to talk to a councilman, call us, get a hold of us. It's very easy. If you really want to talk to us, we're here to try to make the city better and to run the business of the city on behalf of the taxpayers. So that's my little soapbox thing for the year. So anyhow, is there any other discussion at this time? Any other business at this time? If not, a motion to uh adjurnn would be in order. >> I'll make a motion to adjurnn. >> Support. >> Motion been made in support. There's no discussion on the motion. All in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. >> Against. Motion does pass. Thanks for being with us.
