well we see you the next three years yes we're very lucky to have her another question so what's the difference between reach science you said science fair is there a difference between the science fair that can science reach reach is the club that uh we don't just do the science fair but that's the state organization the Illinois Junior Academy of Science um but we all our students complete a research project for that but we also go to other symposia and other um poster sessions and other competitions where the students showcase uh their research their experiments sometimes it's also design so thank you it's very exciting congratulations congratulations congratulations and we'd like to share with you that the Environ won state champions as well unfortunately there aren't anyone here to receive the award and then we've

garden there yeah the Shakespeare and garden they all the plants and all Shakespeare's plays there so are you girls all coming back next year to be on the team yes I didn't know about interesting congratulations you guys this is impressive how many so what is the four stat six six and since 2015 since 2015 and we've been in the uh top three for the last 11 years all right it's impressive so what is there why are you guys so good is there something what is it that that what's the secret sauce Jeff it's the water something in the water it's something in the water it's also uh the support we get truly so and we have all as we all know some incredible uh student athletes that are just phenomenal well congratulations have a fantastic

summer well done exactly a lot of good than you guys we appreciate it appreciate you thanks have a nice peaceful evening now Wendy Jason okay um moving right along that was it's always fun Ambassador Awards um we um also have approval of our 20 2025 student guide book it was shared uh last month as a first reading tonight is coming to you for your approval um so I'll talk after you okay could I get a motion please so move second what was that a frost on a frost gon gon second so uh um just so that you know uh pia has worked with um uh I was going to say Mr Ramos's team now it's Dr Ros and um for the most part as you'll see if you skim through this they're mostly um just

minor edits and words smithing there's nothing sign no significant changes but it goes through a process of the Deans uh Eric Troy and a parent group as well taking a look at it each year as required by State Statute okay any any other questions on the all right Terry could you please call no I uh gorson hi moons I frost hi carries okay and then we are also sharing with you for your approval tonight after our first reading last month of Bo policy updates um if you were to click on the worksheet and policies you may recall that um there were a handful that we had shared that um p and I thought that we should review and just draw your attention to um one being around um new citations in school code around discrimination

harassment on the basis of rais color national origin the fund balance update that uh Sean had shared last month um bullying policy Communications to and from the board and then everything else was mostly word smithing and updating to um new legislation um but Sean did you want to speak to it all the fund balance recommendation yeah so the recommendation stems from um a change in the practice uh from using uh a cash basis policy to into a cruel based policy um and at the recommendation of our Auditors um that we to ensure that we are following our own board policy that we would adopt that um so the Auditors now have a proper U language to basically guide our fund balance and whether or not we're following that policy or not and if you remember

the previous fund balance was this kind of 40% 40% but it was really kind of built off of our old accounting method and no one knows exactly what the state's really asking for so this one Sean work the attorney's on it just makes more sense correct so so it it actually is now the modified equal balance is supposed to be at least 10% correct or at least the average of 10% for 3 years correct and then again everything else word smithing um nothing that you need to look at unless you need something to put yourself to sleep at night that and some n all right could I please get a motion so move me second from gon down there G he's holding out second okay any other questions on this we did we talked about

this I mean we've been talking about the major policy change for a while ready okay gon I moons I frost I no I carries okay and as we do every summer uh in June just submitting the um final 2023 24 school calendar to ISB no changes no modifications you'll see a Personnel report um that has a host of um uh resignations and retirements and hirings and things like that um that's all in the Personnel report we will not need an executive session following the meeting as we had one before the meeting and that takes us to the business section Sean authorized notice of publication for adoption of the 2425 budget yep so as we just reviewed in our finance committee today um we are at that point in the cycle where we need to display

the budget for 30 days before uh before holding a public hearing on it and then the board taking action uh so tonight um we are asking the board for two recommendations um one is to put that uh tenative uh 2425 Budget on display uh starting on June 28th of 2024 and then the second would be to um recommend commend that the board set the public hearing um for August 19th which would be our August board meeting all right so can I get a motion to put the tenative 20242 Budget on display for public viewing on June 28th 2024 so moved second got it any questions for Sean we just come out of talking about this but okay Terry could you please gon I wound I frost I no I carries second item I have for

tonight is um a hold on sorry hold on than so could I now get a motion to set a public hearing for August 19th 20124 so moved Second Great boy there's tag team down there could you please pull any questions no could you please pull the board gorson hi moons I I no I carries okay you guys are just that efficient that I assumed you had taken care of that already um the next item though is uh the detention center that is um within the boundaries of both Stevens High School but also um one of our feeders District 103 um every year um we fill out grants um from the state of Illinois that allows money to come to both um District 103 and Stevenson we uh funnel that money to the regional Office of

Education that then works with the Detention Center to in fact educate the children that are detained there um this is not uh spending of any of our local tax dollars this is simply money that we receive from a grant um that we uh work with the Detention Center on applying for and the office of uh Regional Office of Education to apply um for that so that they can fund and educate the children um the juveniles that are in the Detention Center so tonight we are recommending that the Board of Education approve um the memor of understanding um as we've been presented can I please get a motion so second any I'm curious um I know that the board book points out that it's worked well and we're continuing it how many kids do we typically

have in in this yeah so there's uh anywhere from 16 uh to 17 there at any given point in time um on average is what they have uh continually tell us we go there for one meeting every year and then every once in a while we'll go through Tours and it's it's a lot of online learning um as well as learning with um some of the adults and supports that they have there to really try to get the students on the correct path okay thank you why doesn't the state just send the money to the regional Office of Education it's not how it works I that would be logical sorry bigger conversation I guess but yeah might it might make sense as an accounting for the state if they want we're trying to keep track

of the districts and what they're spending in the district so there might be some kind of administrative thing yeah maybe any okay any other questions for Sean okay Terry could you please call moons I frost uh no I gorson I okay car's budget transfer Sean yeah so um every year um you know the uh the budget is created adopted and it's a spending plan for the year there are times where we do need to move money um some money is around from One Fund to the other fund that is um an allowed under school code um so this year just like in previous years um you can see the transfers uh that have been presented before you so we are asking that the Board of Education approve the budget transfers as presented could I please

get a motion so move second any questions you know we were talking about this at the at the finance meeting it actually I just want to make the point it actually makes sense that we're doing the transfers because if there's too much money that's being accumulated in a fund this is a a method for reducing the amount of the fund and putting it into a different fund where the where the monies are needed correct and so it does make it it does make sense and there are times where emergency spending comes up we have to we have a break in the water M and we need to fix the water M while we have money for that something else broke and so we're actually saying okay we're not going to spend this money we're going

to spend it on this instead yeah absolutely yeah okay thank you I thought I read in one of the ad read or the is the updates about um is there a change to this law making it so every so perhaps coming down every so often you can only so you can only transfer from fun certain funds to other funds and that gets up for Renewal um every 3 years so maybe perhaps that was in one of the Ed R newsletters yeah perhaps they're looking at it or something potentially typically the transfers between your operating funds and whether they want to classify one of them as an operating fund okay right Terry could you please oh sure Frost hi no hi gorson hi wounds I okay before we have some content agenda items we have um

recommendation for approval of the 2425 administrative and non-union salary pools we discussed this uh in the finance committee meeting um overall the administrative salary pool is recommending a 6.5% increase due to the additional FTE for next year otherwise it would be an increase with CPI at 3.5 correct and then Sean a um decrease in our end staff uh salary pool of 2.4 2.45% and we're bringing that to you tonight for your approval could I please get a motion so moved second any other questions we did talk just talk about this okay Cherry could you please pull Frost I no I gorson hi moons I carries okay and then you have a series of items for consent including the destruction of close session audio visual recordings the release of executive session audio recordings release of EX

your session minutes um and approval of Consolidated District plan is um a not every year sh yeah but is it every year it it makes the we have to do it so they changed the grant system so now we have to do it every year okay makes the grants easier got it and then approval of um July 2024 expenditures as part of consent because you may recall uh we don't have a July board meeting although we do have some committee meetings that will make note to you some fire requests and that takes us to consent okay could I please get a motion to Pro to approve the consent agenda so move oh no I gorson I moons I frost approved okay and then lastly tonight just a couple um things to make note of I'm

going to send out an email to the board regarding um a meeting that we're looking to have on July 15th regarding matters related to security so I'll get that email out to the board and to Shan um and Wendy July 15th 10 to 2ish um and I'll make sure Troy and Ramos are there as well um again discussing matters of security and then speaking of Ramos I know we mentioned it last month but Kudos again to uh Dr Ramos on completing his Doctorate um so we're excited for him um we have our board retreat coming up on August 2nd and 3D I'm looking forward to seeing everybody there um you'll see an early tenative um item C list of committee dates so Pia and Sean and Wendy and I sat down to look at those

we think that they're pretty good um but you know always subject to change um so feel free to print that out put it on the fridge um some student profiles there and out of school suspensions and that is it for me for tonight cricket and ihsa Cricket is not an ihsa sport it's a club and the threshold for becoming a ihsa sports pretty high so I don't know if that'll happen in the near future but we have an amazing group of kids who really enjoy it so yeah it's cool with the with the US success recently in cricket too might okay could I get a motion to adour so move second all in favor all hi we are a joury
