All right. So, the old Okay. Let's call this meeting to order at 7:02. Stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, please. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Yes. We'll forego the invocation tonight, if you don't mind. Yep. Mr. Chandler. You do it. Yeah, we walked out there. God wouldn't know what to say about that. Okay. Although, I do talk to him occasionally. Yeah, I don't doubt it. Four or five times a week is all. I I don't like to ring him up too often. He won't deal with me. So, and roll call, please. That's Moore. Here. Kennedy's absent, excused. Telech? Flaherty? Here. Hawkins will be tardy. Um for the record, Clerk
Zelman and Treasurer Kennedy are in attendance. Okay. Let's get right on into the uh minutes of the March 9th meeting. Can I get a motion to approve the minutes, please? I will make a motion to approve the minutes for March 9th, 2026 regular meeting. I'll second the motion. All in favor? I. >> I. Opposed? No. Good. Minutes are approved. Can we get a motion to approve tonight's agenda, please? Are there any changes to make on the agenda? No. I will make a motion to approve the agenda as supplied. I'll second the motion. All in favor? I. >> I. Opposed? Hearing none, motion carries. Do we have any more agendas up there or not? Is there that one back there? No. I've got it. Thank you. Okay, let's get into the uh treasurer's report. In which
I'll need a motion to accept the treasurer's report. I will make a motion to uh approve and file the treasurer's report for March 2026. Have a roll call, please. Sure. Moore? Yes. Swack? Yes. Pellechia? Yes. Okay. On the back side is the accounts payable. Want me to read it? I'll just read it then you can just say so moved. >> I was going to say I can I can read it. That's fine. Um I will make a motion to approve the accounts payable for March 2026 and pay the bills in the amounts of general $34,359.55, major $20,591.35, local $0, Mill Park $0. Thank you. It's $300. >> Okay, $300. I was going to say the accounts payable ledger says $300. The um You can make a note on the agenda that it's actually Mill Park
recreation should be $300. Just need support. Support. Support. Have a roll call, please. Pellechia? Yes. Swack? Yes. >> Moore? Yes. Is Is any public comment at this point in time? Hearing none, we'll move on to the public hearing. So, I'm going to close the regular meeting at this uh point in time and open the public hearing on the CD community development block grant reprogramming. Can I get a motion for that, please? I will make a motion to close the public the regular meeting and open the public comment meeting. Support. Roll call, please. Roll call. Yes. Yes. Yes. So, I'm going to turn it over. Well, is there any public comment on this at this point in time? But we haven't talked about it. We haven't even discussed it. Do you want to talk to this?
Yes. Thank you. Talk to it and then we can ask them for Thank you. Sure. Okay, so Oakland County would like if we would move um $13,000, 6,000 of it from my home repair, 7,000 of removed architectural barriers because this money is from 2023 and 2024 over to the Oakland County home improvement program. In doing so, I was told that the money would be available to a resident of Leonard. It's just basically like the money has moved like from one fund to another fund. They kind of have a metric where they really need to keep their spending at a certain metric and we are kind of throwing the system off by moving that into that. That leaves us with We still have money, 2025 money, in my home repair, which is wonderful because we still
have it available for a resident. We're keeping that. We're holding onto that and just moving this funds. So, that is what the meeting's about. And agreeing to move it means that they can use it, which then fulfills their need to use it in order to get it filled again. Right? Like if you don't as if it's it's one of those if it's not used it's lost. >> That's what you're saying. Yes. And then this is available to Leonard residents. They just have to apply for it through Oakland County instead of That is correct. So it kind of takes us out of the whole equation with that. Yeah. So um that's what this is about. So um we have a resolution kind of to to lay it out to make it just um pretty clean um
for Oakland County's reprogramming. And so I guess at this point we just need to hear from Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I was rambling. It's your job to say this part. Do you want support for a resolution? Well, not not in the public comment. >> public comment at this point in time. Uh the community development block grant, there is still $20,000. Yes. So how can people apply for that within the village and that's village funds that they can use? Well, it's it's money that comes through like HUD which is um administered through the Oakland County home improvement or not excuse me through CDBG community development block grant money. So because we're small because our population we are kind of like earmarked to get $7,000. Um and so that is available. So if there's somebody let's
just say that needs some home repairs, maybe a furnace, something small, the the program is pretty strict as far as things they kind of can't do if someone's income qualified. And if it involves any kind of disruption of lead paint, let's say for example, they're we they wouldn't be able to utilize it. But if it was for something like you know maybe a roof or gutters or furnace then it would be >> a step that is in bad shape like something that >> us. Yeah. So then they would come and get an application um, the village office and then we would income qualify that person, and then, um, get some quotes on the project, and then go ahead and administer the money. Okay. I didn't know that village of Liberty could do that. I I
knew I'm familiar with community development block grant program, but I didn't realize that there were actually funds through here. Okay. Yes. Is that every year? Yeah. Is there any other? I know there's a couple of people around here that can use it. Is there any other public comment on this issue? Well, and then and also share with them, please, about the home improvement program, as well, to look into that, because now that it it will take a little bit for this process to happen. You know, maybe it might be a month. Things don't go really, really quickly. But have them, please, reach out, and, you know, they can go that way, as well. Cuz we'll cap out at the seven grand, where this is 13. Okay. It's that fee. Okay. You want a motion to
approve this resolution? >> No, it's not the the we're in public comment, so not now. Yes, we're going to ask for a motion. Can I Can I get a motion to approve? >> We're going to close the meeting first. We'll close the public, and then we'll go open the regular >> meeting first? >> Yeah, if we're if we're >> a motion to close the meeting? >> Well, if we're finished with public comment, then >> Yes. Okay, as long as no other comments. Um, I'd like to make a motion to close the public comment meeting and oh, reopen the regular meeting of the village. And I support it. Can I get a roll call, please? Sure. Swartz? Yes. >> Moore? Yes. >> Paluch? Yes. Okay. Okay. Now, you can have a resolution for that one. Yeah,
I I'm trying to see where it is on the minutes. I'm not on the menu. I'm on the Number one? >> So, we would need to add that to number four, under new business, then, the resolution. For the CDBG money. Oh, okay. Then we need Okay. So, then there is the So, you did change the agenda. I'll make it. We'll We'll fix it. It's two items. So, we'll just have that to you. Okay, can you get a Can I get a motion to approve the resolution, please? >> I was just waiting for Penda to stop. You're good? What What are we going to make it number four? Yeah. Let's do that. Then we don't mess up the rest of the order under new business, if that's okay with you. That's fine with me. >> Okay,
cool. Let's do that. Okay, then we'll hold off on that one then, cuz otherwise it's out of order. What? We're out of order. Right. You want it new business? So, that's when we're going to do that. >> to hold off, yeah. Yeah. I'll read it in a few minutes. >> Back in the packet. Okay, moving on. We now have a Home Depot Depot commercial account. So, I had to put myself in for a uh card because you couldn't do it without doing that, so. But, we can we can we'll change that in the office to a couple more cards, so that if need be, if there's anything in the the village that needs done that we can't get it Ace Hardware, we can now go to to Home Depot and and they'll just charge it
right back to us just like like Ace Hardware does. So, that is done. Forest Street resurfacing project. We have a meeting coming up with MDOT here in the near future. >> You are building inspector. You got Oh. New business number two, building inspector. >> went right in old business. Huh. It must be the weather has changed. We'll go with that. So, our our building official, Tim Hollis, is having trouble with uh some people that own a lot over on Rosie Drive and they wanted to put up a house. But they didn't come to us for any any permits or any binding or anything to start this whole project, but they started it with Mr. Hollis. I don't know how this happened, but and he he did some work for them and change some drawings for
them and and wouldn't accept some drawings and put some back. So he was working for them. Anyway, they've run up a bill of over a thousand dollars of his fees. And they don't want to pay him. Oh, I don't I don't know. So So he sent that to me on a Friday night and sent it to the office as well all that and I said, "Well, what is this about?" No, I didn't So I sent him back. I said, "I'm going to discuss this with our attorney cuz I don't know what we can do." I said, "We'll help you with with when we know what we can do. We'll look into this for you." So he appreciated that and that's that's still where that I've not heard back from John. We had come up with
a plan that we would pay him for for the services rendered and then we would go after the lot owners for payment to the village. Yeah, apparently apparently they did, but I mean well, they must have known because they're refusing to pay him cuz he must have been telling me he said they got to pay for these services. But he's not been doing any work with it. And Tim Hollis is the building inspector. So it's it's Yeah, so as a discussion with John was that we really he does doesn't know what we can do about that, but he's been a draft a letter to see if to see if we can get some money back to Tim. See if he can convince these people to to pay for what they asked for and then the
services that were So, that's where that is. Excuse me. So, let's go on to number three. On Thursday, 4/9/26, I accepted two letters. One one from Mr. Blocker Blachy, sorry. And and one from Mr. Radford with a request of a council that we now have to look into. Um I don't know. We're going to get a a a complete answer here before before we we see to this before we give our answer out. So, the way we're going to look at this is just the way in that that we're going to Would it be viable for us to do this and what what would happen if we did? So, we have to go through all that with engineering and stuff. So, it's going to take a while. It's not It's not going to Dave, you
know, it's not going to be an instant thing. So, So, the letters are in. The letters are in your your uh agenda report. Well, the same letter I accepted uh >> Request to vacate it. I'm kind of confused. I'm sorry, what? It says request to vacate. Themselves? Or whoever The village. The village. >> That's actually behind. Yes. The the village. 18 1884. So, is this going to be on our dime to fund this feasibility study or to hire these engineers? Is this going to be on our dime? >> a request of us. Well, yeah, we're we're looking into it. But I've already started. I've already started with Oakland County on this issue. >> this whatever this Well, I guess if we're going to do proof tests and all that kind of stuff, sure. But before
that before before that, it's just an engineering study. So, do we even need to do an engineering study or do we just say sorry, it's not a vacant Yeah, they just look at it say it's not a it. And Well, We need to gather some data from There'll be a There'll be a full explanation of what we come up with and when and why. Yeah. So, and we'll and we'll either vote it up or down at a meeting. So, you know, um he went to Mrs. Glostranger and wanted to buy part of her lot. And for $2,000. And he said cuz he wants to put a septic system in. But, he said he would only raise it up about 4 ft, barely noticeable, which is as high as the fence back there. So, I think
it's kind of invisible. Um and but if that's abandoned, then since their property adjoins, so her property adjoins, 10 ft of 20 ft should go back to her. Back to her. So, It's all going to be taken into consideration, Tara. We're Yeah. Yeah. >> We're That's what we're going to go at this slow at a pace that that's Haven't you been going at it once a year? Not this one. That though we just got this letter. So, when we have this letter, we have to look into it. And yes, Mike. He's been complaining about that Well, I don't want to try and advise the council, but I want to express that it's extraordinary to to do something like this and start spending money on it before the council has even discussed it, whether you wish
to proceed or not, whether you wish to gain public information, have a hearing, or whatever, before you're talking about a transfer of property. Beyond that, as a resident who uses the alley, uh my wife and I do not wish to see it made private. It would isolate us from one avenue of ingress-egress that we have invested money in when we built up our property so that we were allowed with the alley. Um there's a number of other items I have about her that I'd like to present to the council as part of this discussion. And um the council has great interest in this because Rowland Hall uses that alley. You have no You will have no access. You'd have to cross private property in order to drive a lawn tractor in through the back cuz
you're not going to get it down either side. Um there's a whole lot of ramifications that you don't need an engineering study to determine. And I urge you to not give up this asset to the village that was donated to it by Leonard Rowland himself after he constructed Rowland Hall and a small jail addition that's now the bathrooms back in in 1899 through 1903. It served the village all that time. The village has invested a lot of money in its underground utilities. There's storm drain back there. Furthermore, I've talked with Open County Health Department and they have requirements for septic that say they have to be 10 ft away from the neighbor's property line. So if as it should happen, at least the village and the Old Stranglers, if you If you decide to abandon
it, the old Mrs. So Stranger should get 208 ft by 10 ft of that alley for her property. The village should get 10 ft by 65 ft for them. And then And if anybody wants If you decide you want to abandon it, why don't you find out how much it's worth? Cuz it's worth it to me. I'd buy it. And nobody should be getting it for free. So, saying And to me, I don't think you can by law convey it to two parties, one party, without taking into consideration all of the abutting parcels. But I'll give you my letter to Scott with detail in it. But I urge you to not spend more village money for engineering. You know what's back there. It's We know the whatever survey that was made last year out of
the property. So, you know exactly what you have already. Okay. Thank you. Get Thanks. You want You want to give it to me now, Mike? You want to turn it in to me now? I'll receive it now. You got a letter also? Letter from you, too? And it was surveyed last year because of the the whole alley was ended up being surveyed? Okay. Cuz it was it was part of that original description. Okay. Is the alley? Yes. >> But it's abandoned. Yep. That's going to be easy. It's totally in the news. Thanks, Mike. Okay. So, that's a topic that will be tabled to another that will be postponed to another meeting. Yes. So, let's go on to number four, which is >> we'll be reading the resolution that we talked about for the CDBG funds.
Um if it is requested that I that I read the entire thing, that's fine. Um but, I will make a motion to approve resolution 2026-03 authorizing the reprogramming of community development block front block grant funds. Um we'll push this down. Uh this will go Whereas the Village Council has identified the Oakland County Home Improvement Program as a priority for the utilization of these funds to assist eligible residents with essential residential repairs. Be it resolved the program year 2023 in the amount of $6,000 and 2024 in the amount of $7,000 will be transferred. Is that enough of that? Okay. Just need a support. Support. You want to call for that? Mhm. Okay. I I'm tired of being a slave, so I'll let you do it. Pelletier? Yes. Orr? Yes. Swift? Yes. Hawkins? Yes. Okay. On to
old business. But, I did receive a phone call from Raina, our new CPA today just before the meeting. Um she needs some more paperwork from us to finish. She needs like one or two days. It's not like it's going to take another week or two to get us current. Um state treasury is aware of where we're at with everything. They're happy. And she's made them happy for us. So. Wonderful. It's great about that. But uh it's it's the taxes. How we paid the taxes. Oh, okay. She needs that paperwork. That's what's going to be I can look my best for it, but it's was under Judy. So, the best I can do is That's what I told her. She says, "Does Katie have that right?" I says, "Well, I think probably Judy did." I mean,
if we can find it in the office or on the computer somewhere. >> She did comment to me how well organized the files were. That that's also Judy's. Well, it just gives you a little something to live up to. I can't bring you coffee and donuts every day. So, that's where we are in the audit. So, within the next couple of days we should have that all completed and filed. And and then uh they'll be able to in about 10 days after that they should release the MDOT comes to us. Hallelujah. Praise Jesus. Thank you to all the gods that are out there. Okay. So, the Forest Street resurfacing project we I do have a meeting with MDOT. I think it's next week on the 20th. Right, 21st? 20th or 21st? 20th. It's an afternoon
meeting. It's a Zoom meeting. So, we'll we'll be dealing with it from here. Um So, we'll have a lot to talk about. It'll be I think primarily this the south side of of Forest Street before the uh intersection because that's all ready to go. And they're just start >> going to patch it? Until the project starts? >> Yeah, I don't think there's any asphalt right now. Oh my Seriously? Cars are Well, you have to wait for the asphalt plant to open. Oh. Oh, because of road because of >> in the winter. the restrictions on the roads. Okay. Wait. Yeah. Well, the the weights are I think are off. We were the last county that came off I think this year. Okay. So, they're not going to be They will be passed >> be as soon
as we have cold patch. And nobody knows when that is, eh? Well, last year when I asked for it, they didn't know. They all like they all open county could tell me is we don't know. They don't tell us. All we know is they call us when it's open, and we can come get stuff. Oh, okay. Well, I'll just send the bill here for my attorney, so So, so that's Yeah, I know the I know the road's a mess. I've been out there looking at it. I've been looking for the worst holes in case we got to run out there and fix them. out there now without hitting another car, so At least people are driving slower. They're what? They're driving the speed limit now anyway. Okay. I got to find a plus somewhere. Okay.
I I did number three. Proposal for the Ashley land split Nature Park combination land sale. We're down to the last thing here, and I got to get a proposal from the council to allow us to combine the piece of property we purchased with our property and split it from you. Do what? Is that what you needed Is that basically it? That's it. So, you need I would make a mo- I will make a motion to approve the split of the triangular property from the Ashley property to be combined to the adjacent village property. Is that it? That's it. That all it was. You want to do a roll call? I do. I just needed to get what Jennifer said down Okay. really quickly. I thought we still had have and I don't I'm not sure
what we have to do so. >> We have to fill the paper paperwork out. That's it? Yeah. Yeah, that's Are you good? And I'll help, yeah. Yeah, and then I think we got to take it down to the assessor. Oh, that's easy, too. Okay. Okay. Okay, did somebody second who did Jennifer Uh, Palazzolo. Okay, yeah. Okay, um Hawkins? Yes. Swac? Yes. >> Moore? Yes. >> Palazzolo? Yes. Okay, under number four, Leonard Drain update. And I'm glad I have a two residents here that have been actively working with the Emily down at Oakland County in the emergency number for this. So, you got further with them than I do. So, I was happy to hear all that you've been doing with them. So, but we all know about the flooding issue. We all know how bad
it is. And it's apparent that we have a short section of pipe right at where it goes underground. Okay. And it's I'm getting all I'm getting 8 in, 10 in, 12 in height. I'm getting all kinds of diameters, but any of those diameters are not nearly enough for the flooding. >> to handle the amount of water that comes through there. Where are you talking, by the By the trail, where it goes underground. By the By Cooper Street. By Strong's old place. By the Polyann Trail. By the I remember It was only 40 years ago. Okay. I'll tell you about the Is your foot bothering you? Let me try it, Ida. Okay. Where Where exactly is it located? I'm sorry, I just need >> It's right next to your trail, where the big ditch behind us
here, Elwood, where it goes underground. Near Cooper Street. >> The first pipe that's there >> Okay. is a very small diameter pipe for the amount water >> at my lot then? Does that is that where that drain is is that my lot the bottom of mine? I do have one that stands up like 3 ft in the air and doesn't collect any water. No, I don't think so. >> A lot of them might do on my Okay, so the drain up there. Can they provide like a map of This is what I like. I love to see a map. >> have a better map than we have. Yeah, I would love to get >> map map than I would three people with them down there water resources commission. Um and they all agreed that's the
problem. >> first year and we've lived here 50 years that that drain has worked. >> I know. And with all the water we had the next day it was almost gone. You you know I was shocked. >> But the choke point is right here. >> It's right behind It's It's all behind >> There's so many cubic foot of water coming through there and just that pipe is isn't big enough to handle it. >> Okay. At my house there's catch basin and we probably had 2 ft of water over the catch basin and it wasn't doing anything. I was like trying to get like a you know, make sure there's no leaks or anything. I'm like this is pointless. And eventually I think once things calmed down it eventually started flowing a little bit but like
it was pretty bad. >> And that's what's at the south side of our >> When I was out there looking when it was storming and I saw water on top of the drains and I did I catch basins I didn't even see a bubble or anything. I said oh man, we nothing's going anywhere. There's so much water right now. Yeah. It's like a huge water traffic jam right there. Okay, here's one more thing I'll give you. This is the emergency number for water resources commissions when you have a flooding issue. Number is 248-858-1105. The gal that's normally there is Emily. She's a very nice gal. But she she talks to me very nicely so don't make her mad at me. But keep that number in case you can't get a hold of me and I
I'm telling you they and and Mike said this to me a long time ago now. They says, you know, sometimes Bill they they work for the residents much better than a man in my position. So, that's when I started That's how I got involved with this. I started calling them and they did. And then I became president and then they didn't talk to me anymore. So, that That's all I have on that. So, truck maintenance, in your packet is a list that you might from us taking this up to uh Arcadian. Yeah, on the backside. Okay, on the backside is a list >> and then I typed up what he wrote in his note. There are a number of issues deeper than than uh we could go in Jim's garage with it. But, he found
all these issues. These issues are going to have to be fixed. Um and I have to take it up to a a company that can get that thing up in the air and work underneath that. They're in Illinois City. I've called them first week in Monday First week in Monday First week in May I'll be taking it up there for an inspection of this how much cuz they won't give me a price without seeing a truck. >> Right. So, the back of the auger and bearings we can do that. That doesn't have to be But, we get into the spinner motor and sends salt plate that distributes the salt the plate is broke all the way around the bolt pattern. So, it's going to fall off. It's terrible. >> And now that it's all cleaned
up you can see the auger the auger's in real bad shape. And that it's not a whole lot left in there. The underbody cylinders, this it deals with the plow. Those those plow cylinders are not holding the plow steady. They they're failing it's coming back up. So, but those have to be done there and there's uh repair plates and bolts for underbody cylinders is with front brakes. There's There's uh some uh accumulators and and uh assist cylinders in there to make the brakes air brakes work better in front. They uh they have some cross pins in them for some purpose that Jim was telling me said they're gone. So, it's not functioning. Although we have good brakes, it's not functioning properly. So, in the rear axle, your bolts need to be replaced. One's broke. I
don't know about the other one. I haven't looked under there, so. And there's a hole in the radiator, there's broken suspension bolt, you know, that we already talked about that. The he replaced all the grease zerks. Uh all the all the filters and the fluids have been changed. Um And the price for the auger, you'll see here under there. And uh the the bed the Uh those are bearings. Yeah, bearings. This is bed rail. They're bearings. >> fault. Yeah. They're called pillow blocks. They're on the outside and your shaft runs right through them. But, that's uh that's what we have for that. I I I can't give you a price on that yet. Got next meeting. Hopefully, I'll have everything together. But, doesn't sound like it's going to be cheap to me. Tractor maintenance for
tractor Tractor has almost 1,200 hours of of use on it. The last time it was it was serviced was 500 hours. It's supposed to be serviced every 250 hours. So, we are way behind on that. So, I don't So, but Jim offered to take that up to his garage, too, and and clean it all up and take a good look at it and see if what he can find. So, I said, sounds like a good idea to me with what we did not spend. So, we We 1750 with the uh maintenance on the truck. And we had 2500, so I think we can get the tractor done with the rest of it. Got you. So when we discussed that, I said there's enough money in there, we won't ask for more money. We'll just We'll
just finish up with that 2500 and we'll get the tractor and we'll get that up to snuff, too, so we know where that's at. >> We don't have to reassign for different vehicles? We should probably have to re >> I do. I think we can do that. We can't carry it over. We have to make a new motion. Okay. We'll do that next meeting, then. Don't let me forget. You got to come around >> put it on the whiteboard upstairs before I leave. This one really well. This is the best week we've had putting this together because of our new whiteboard upstairs. Okay, so I'm making notes. It's It's just when it came down here, I'm not doing so good with it tonight. Okay. Under number five, Star Aggregates had a fire. It was a
total loss. They lost their garage. That's where they uh get their power from, the generator, everything was in there. Our grader was not in there at the time. Or they backed it out real quick, I don't know, but all the All the panels and stuff were in there to be painted and everything was taken apart, so But they're they're telling me I haven't got up there yet. They said No, nothing happened to the grader. Everything's fine. With that, except that it's not done yet. Okay, that's it. President's report. Freedom of information uh report, I I don't have anything on that right now. We've already gone over the CD BG report, correct? We don't need to go over that. Right. Yeah, we don't have anything to add until the we get the new numbers from Open
Counter. Ordinance enforcement, 49 for 4495 Forest Street, distinctive design. Oh. It It uh Our fire chief, Jerry Mikulski, did a uh inspection over there, and he wasn't happy with a number of things that he found. So, he took all his findings and he sent them all to me. And one of the worst ones was it looked like somebody's living there. Oh. And you can't do that in a business. So, I went over there and talked to them. And apparently, they lost their house to black mold, and they're leasing a a house to live in, but they don't have enough room for all their stuff, so they're storing it there. And I says, "Is there a bed upstairs?" She says, "Yeah." I says, "Is it being stored, or is it sitting there like somebody can lay
on it?" I said, "They're sitting there like somebody can lay on it. Either put Take it Break it down and and make it like in storage like it is like you're telling me, or get it out of here. Forget about it, man." So, and and their fire alarm system, Jerry wasn't very happy with that. They're putting in a new system that's going to go right to the firehouse and notify them all 24 hours a day if something happens at at Distinctive Design. So, Jerry's happy with that. As long as he's happy with that, he said we'll all deal with the other And when I talked with him, he didn't want us to give him a time frame and come down on it. He says, "So, I'm going with As long as Jerry's happy, we're going
to be happy." So, unless unless they stop talking to what They are meeting. They are talking with Jerry. And so, that's the best we can hope for without having to find them. I I would hate to drive a business out of here for any reason like that. >> Sure. They just uh They're new They're They're kind of new owners. They're kind of new business people. I I I I got that just from talking with them. They've got a lot to learn about how they do this. So, they spend some late nights in there going over their books and things. She says, "Sometimes we stay because it's so late." She's running here till 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. I saw They They They're just getting a handle on all this. They've been there what I
don't think it's a full year yet. Maybe maybe a year. Maybe. Yeah. Okay. That's what I have with that. Anything from the cable commission, John? Uh no, the next meeting we're having is May 18th. Okay. Anything from the decorating committee, John? Nope, we're good. Have you looked at our flag? Do you clean this stuff? In front of the at at the annex building? No. It's getting kind of All the the right there. Yeah. No. It's almost see-through now. It's almost sheer. I don't know. We should order another one, I don't know. Do we have another flag to go on the flagpole? I don't know. Not that I know of. We can order one. There's somebody local that sells them. Yeah, Heritage Flag and Banner. Heritage Flag? Yeah, there's usually about $65. Okay. I don't know
who took the other flags on the poles down, but whoever did it, thanks. Probably the wind. Or they blew down on their own, I don't know. They were pretty They were they were >> pretty pretty bad shape. Okay, North Oakland Transportation Authority. We have a meeting coming up this week, Mike? Next week? This week. Yeah, I have three meetings this week. Yeah. I we we had a hired a a deputy uh director. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. So, we he had to go. So. That's about the the biggest thing. The other thing is is the continuation of the rebuild and redoing of the office to double the size of the office for because uh North Oakland needs that. Going forward. And then and they're going to put a wash rack in to wash the vehicles
and and a mechanics rack and all that kind of stuff. It's it's going to be great when they get done. Okay, anything from the planning commission? I will make a motion to cancel the April meeting, April 2026 meeting. Support. All in favor? I. I. Opposed? Meeting's canceled. Polly Ann Trail Management Council, we have our first meeting this week. So, I have nothing on that right now. Oh, I did get out of Linda when I talk talked to her that that they're going to be doing some paving in July. So, I have the truck up to snuff by then. How much are they paving in the village? How much they pave the village? How much are they paving in the village? This is not This paving No, this paving is you know, the piles of millings
that are out there in in the park is the We're going to be doing that kind of paving, not Yeah, this is not asphalt paving. Good. It doesn't need to be the asphalt. Okay. Village Park, we talked about the Village Park. We got to We got to finish up that uh uh The land split. The land Yeah, the land slope and stuff and once we do that, we'll be rolling forward on that. I'll start taking getting some ex- people in here to see what it's going to cost us to put the sidewalk in and fix the uh approach uh to the Polly Ann Trail on both sides. What? You what? You better think of another thing to get done pretty quick, too. I'm going to insist on it. The fence? No, I feel like it's
a fence. Well, we did the council did promise that that would be done. Yep. Yeah. How much water is in the park right now? A lot. We used to ice skate there when I was a kid. It was called Basis Pond. Okay. It was a pond and it was cheap enough, you know. To get and big enough. Yep. That makes sense. Okay. The last thing is community development block grant again. Let's beat that dead horse. Why is it on there so many times? Oh, cuz one of them's a report from you just saying that this is what we have. And then the other one is for like me to say this is what we're doing. So, most of the time it's pointless, and if we're allowed, I'll see if we can just put it under
one heading because it is seeming redundant. And we rarely have anything. So, we Now, every year we get this from asked for donation from asked for youth assistance, and we did that. And the letter is here thanking us for that. That's what the correspondence is, and that is the end of the meeting. I would like to know what you're doing about the DPW. I was going to mow the grass this summer. Oh. Oh. Andy. Oh, DPW. I thought he wasn't going to do it anymore. That's what he told me. No, he wasn't going to do the plowing anymore. I told him no, I I told him I'd give him money to cut grass, but that's it. If I talk to him, though, I'll hear another story. I'm only across the street. You can probably yell
and I'll hear you. I'm going to. So, teach you. Something needs to be done. Playgrounds are going to look like crap. And then that's deplorable. We just got a pleasant neighbor. The road around, and I don't see anything being done. He's been raising the price. So, you can get somebody in here. You started it. It's not a problem. Don't worry, I'm going to. Um really quickly, Bill. Yes. Um Peggy and I were just um having a little Do you want it inside? >> do need a motion on this soya um money even though it's allocated in the budget just like any other allocation it needs to be voted on by council. So so you you need a motion. >> Well, we didn't close the meeting yet so we can still Right. That's why I was
just kind of bringing it up. So I need you to All right. Can you give me a motion to approve the money we send to Oxford Addison Youth Assistance? Well, we had a The door over here is full of varmints. I see them coming and going and there's every kind of food. There's everything from to squirrels and I sit my foot >> talking the white building? Blackie's building? Um yes.
Addison Foods? It's the You saw it this afternoon where all those steps in the back are broken. Which is his problem. I mean, that has nothing to do with the village. It's his. But it's a dangerous building and that's just getting worse and worse and worse. Well, nothing's been done with to it in and how many years now? So it's been sitting vacant >> painted it. Mhm. Yes. It's for the Great Festival. Yeah. But it was already it was already it was already vacant then, right? It really wasn't made for >> since like '09. I remember when that happened but that's a few years ago. But I would think you have to upkeep something. I mean With all those critters running around, that would have to fix me. Yeah, it does. It would. Yeah, I
know. Yeah. I wouldn't I wouldn't be happy if it was wrong. >> No, I You know, I didn't know anything about this. >> going to say, let's think about that one cuz it being that it's not a usable building or it's not being used, there might be an uphill battle there. >> Not at all. Yeah. But the other one that's been condemned for months now is still standing. So, who's going to get hurt there, too? Mhm. If this is the little witch. No, they can go after the homeowner. It used to be the village before. >> Yeah. It did. >> Yeah. But it's Mhm. It's terrible. All right, I'll look into this tomorrow night and I'll get a hold of Blackie and tell him he's he's got to do something about the vermin and stuff,
fix some things up. I actually saw him take live traps off those steps. And I know there were I know I know there were four or five. He'd take come down with in them. I saw him. Is this is recent? It was about a year ago. About a year ago. When Yeah, that's And he would leave, he'd put them in his car, he'd leave, he'd be gone maybe half hour, he'd come back and do the same thing. He took about four or five out of there. So, I knew it. Were they alive? Oh, yeah. They're alive traps. Okay, they're putting them elsewhere. Okay. Well, they're giving the problem to somebody else. Dropping them >> Yeah, he just dropped them off. Off somewhere. Yeah. That's what they're doing. I don't want them on my property, but
not by my house. If you don't take them 10 miles away. >> I was going to say, you got to take them far enough away. Oh, I don't want them by my house. Right, if you don't take them far enough away, they'll come back. They'll come back. Yeah. And they just said, "You got it real comfortable in there." Sure, it's nice nice and cozy. Yes. It's going to smell lovely. I don't want the squirrels over there. I don't want them. I'm sorry, sorry. spending your No, that's fine. I was wondering are all those old pools and stuff still in there? Probably. Oh, yeah, I'm sure they are. They're I'm sure they've been off. They're thawed.
