003services transition and boys Ricky Sergio and Beth placed third in the world well it's boys gym open up data so our project wasn't an emergency promotion you campaign and bhiku that means that were gone around to places in the community and promoting financial financial literacy and overall small financial community we are basically only went to elementary school middle school high school taught them and lessons on financial literacy help them like set their path for the future and be more financial literate our goal has earth was to help build Oxford so be more passive literate because they Michigan is not on the five states in the u.s. that promote financial literacy so we won't make a difference some of the things that we incorporated into our lessons were buying and savings different activities help us save

004money and practice different different areas we want to teach we also do field trips which a group to Northwood we also had just a lot of games okay we have our breaks with the Arkham students good evening everybody remember um it was an awesome year for the Oxford works program in addition to impress using successful multiple competitions are symphony and concert works of received high ratings during a District Council but here we have some I use when I was injured ever Iseman he is a no basis in the 16 orchestra and this year was his second year being nominated to attend the machines are festival to be in the honors orchestra which is a big big deal they have less than six pages of the entire state of Michigan which are allowed to play at

005the machining artists top conductors and mentors and this is a second year to be nominated top readings at sea and is respectable playing ba on his B which is one most visible thing because it's written for cello ok maximum James ender okay that's our salsa okay they're so busy they're doing things right now yeah next we have miss Beasley the great disease so isolated tonight she brings you what five different things that we're excited about is multiple 23 students I've got some sand in appreciate Canyon but first I'm going to hang out our honors choir come down we have left 15 petrified occur at the Murphy military and not with us tonight Susa play volleyball right now manly stuff really each year our discipline our choir teacher affords the opportunity for our eighth graders to

006through those Michigan schools polka music location for students to audition to be part of the honors choir there were 800 students this year across middle school students across Michigan who auditioned 120 students made and hide them from master Millwall so what this does our students prepared over three different weekends they prepared six at least six pieces and homeland foreign languages and then they presented at a conference in January Grand Rapids Michigan Volvo homes features of location so we are really proud of the us everyone up and [Applause] we now switch gears to athletics and we have another stellar year and my dad in athletics we're going to start with our false well-recognized pedro joaquin is pedro ran cross-country and hat for us this year and something really special middle schools are top and record boards

007in both boys and girls cross country pedro Kratz aboard this year we think at number five 11:42 um it's interesting to note that he was a fourth time in on this year for middle school cross country he don't a traitor had enough to high school making sermons has told me any Kramer says that once Pedro except to go well there's nothing that's like that no more big things trance just kind of going along the year we have our winter season one of my favorite sports rustling and we get a cab County champion for a littler share and not only were routine county champions we had some individual champions so starting at the slowest wait Jack constant we have a a quandary time year straight Biggie's last year with most of these meetings at baseball practice

008but we also up these are eighth graders and we also have seventh grader steer employed so these guys were telling champion guy no big deal after month last year Jack call me champion seventh grader oh very no pressure but we did have a repaint champ [Music] our coach field because they offered to be given a lot of credit but also to the family who supports or their athletes wrestling is not be for sick you just you know do for a couple months in middle school and after success so there's a lot of work that our boyhood into to the Burberry comes on preaching couch stirring everything kind of came together for our athletes this spring Lita amazing Kelly Championship the weather was just right so we were able to compete and do their very best

009our boys this year were in second place in the county are girls and up nice but we had six records we have that foul at the middle school this year so I'd like to recognize and we'll start with the girls they have a little bit more endurance the boys they are a little better assistance our boy relays that tractor motherboards or sprinters and our girls let's have our four by eight and appropriate scene we'll start with data le to the Lhasa and Ava Kepler Olivia dragnet and it was so cool they are four by eight relay team as well fell asleep later who's on record word out this is the first year that sixth graders were able to compete MSA ports available and so we had students that were able to participate in top country

010and track and wrestling and also we had students and basketball and volleyball team a team but Alyssa welcome to rest important sixth grader these are some young girls I only have one eighth grader ally who's going to be moving on but bleep such big things from them our four by fourteen made school record as well we added to the S there Olivia here with Hunter tilt the four by 18 we took out when we take out from them for my outlet ah yes so before they can hide in the forest before we quit come sweetie we put Olivia again and these two are really records were broken and early profits [Applause] we had a are the individual record at iRobot an ally broke the 800-meter record to 3102 I believe and so she is now

011an individual record holder and some of the noise of their time from our boy we have we have some where I won and a four by two records that were broken this year so when our boys flew not here at all is glaze it some brother to Christmas but thank you for being here and behalf of your brother who's the office at Constance Brendan Moore and Rashid shod and they are four by one free life you receive also an individual record holder this year in the 200 meters and so we congratulate you and the four by two we brought in hi Jason they don't like the ruffles motion difference so we've brought in tie to the floor right in the four by two and with chemo booth Jackie Rashid and again favor I'm a big

012deal the middle school through break records really big deal to break such offers one team so congratulations [Applause] McKenzie oh my gosh because I'm a melee to flash around at some point formation yeah okay four by four by four [Music] and we like to end our little school celebration with academics with my four students please come forth we have for students who next tomorrow night will be honored at a servable for earning and gold honors for the third year in a row and what that means is we flip it means is that they have neck had one moment under short higher than any time since they started middle school in 2014 and they haven't had to be see or anything like that they earn 3 4.0 student so we are passing along great things to

013to the high school here Ellie who is one of our Chester she is coming up with Bolin all for free or excuse me that Palmer is our loan gentleman here pair kanakaria George Thomas we're proud of you Florence pillar over here on the end is one of our shoes when to surprise her a success mom and not only be honored with bold war but she's also going to be speaking at her worst night and then we have made our cheer so congratulations to the four [Applause] to you your preteen equation so we have we have 20 heart we have to torque so if you this whole block that way modern robotics to you zero vector that's worked out funny people appreciate that yeah all right okay moving along we're going to have our presentation from

014our robotic ancient torture recovery committee members thank you all for coming out large business Microsoft Nassif um Joe here tonight is the Oxford Robotics Club also known al worldwide is for assignment number 15 21:37 will be referring to you just evening as you can see you got a little PowerPoint here highlighting ours ear and the King bonus box a few months ago as you can tell our our club and very light on sponsors you know they give us the ability as well as knowledge go about about drilling you know amazing machines cousin supplies as well as the knowledge and ability for that some of these you see you know family friends neighbors working at these as well as some local companies we really trying to you know tie in our local companies to create relationships

015between them not only that they help us we help them as well community involvement that's one really big piece you tie in robotics and you know thinking is just about building robot you know we're here to show you that it's much more exam you can see in August we did the low drop Ranger parade we've done that between three to four years you always see that out you bring as many robots as we can have a lot of fun with the kids driving around and having fun is all about in October that chicken does the computation thank you and soup kitchen we do that as well you know we try to show as many places as possible as well as one of our big events that we hold in November they call the Oxford robocat

016rubble this incorporates a lot of our younger stem students on the and she'll really want you know sample for a community as well as an education system at the bottom we do a lot 12 year you know this shows that you know just not only in our season it's all year round you know this isn't just you know a specific part of the year we try to do all around obvious the bottom of April the whole positive prom dress a lot of the girls as well as guided you know come in and help and bring you know those that are less fortunate I'm the ability to go that as well and let go attack a little sorry so we pride ourselves on being a student-run organization so we won't have water at all temperatures and

017it wouldn't be possible without that we realized to be as good run they send them home so it becomes food later on talking 2037 the over application process you drink each other resume and go through an interview with our destiny Lord and our mentor also pretty how highly help this end or very soft workers of Turin Atlas so this year was in work from our game each year first without a game so it changes every year so this robots and starting three weeks to play burstiness where you have this week so so the robot can possess both a mild gear and teeth local walls people off biggity the floats and on you normal one here at night so the goal is put these into either to the Bible or an 11 foot Bible and then

018put this Wellspring it's about a foot on the ground we cycle out or these four match on the trench about 50 balls problem so this robot are the for motorists or the driveway so that's what makes it move it also has our rolling gear mechanism on that takes a year off perform demonstrate also a popper that we're going to start all's going for sure and then at the end of the wrench last 30 seconds we can go climb so you can work with high growth bombs that was pretty fun with the alert icon' robot I'm not we were lucky about all this year a lot of our really foul we're pretty happy about that and so that's not talking so that was great um so those are specifications for a robot there I look for

019Matt Hackett along so we go through pictures really quickly on the top black one is climbing ourself go foundation of our first competition we went through this year on top one-third public on the brain their bottom and then our bottom left born house with us shooting with our partners Clarkson so we were looking up she was really well done and then our bottom right one is that same year so you can kind of get a pretty sure what that was like a pleasing German accent straight okay I'm Nicolas and I'll not discuss before competitions that seem to be that this year me so enter group visited tour demonstrates resilience and dedication has to review improvement throughout the event we turned around a one-in-five start on the first day of qualification into a five and one

020finish on the sake day Vantage and fortified was at that event we all just something I think really demonstrates how specialist program is as we needed another team between 61 36 of rookie team out to Detroit in informing a tailor mechanism they came into the event without a functional climber which must've missed out on a valuable 50 points at the end of each design at the end of each match to be helped them out relative Sciences and by giving them our time and some of our art so that by the end to that they have a functional Taylor and after next crowd today because the Corp assistance they were able to accept to successfully live we're really proud to help out this rookie teams there that are stepping back to the water cribbage revenge board

021really found some great success we finished third in qualification but we cap in our lives to victory as the water district champion and we also breathe we've set a world record highest score yet achieve in the world this year that state championship we um because our success at Waterford Southfield appalled by the state championships and as the champion justice I'm going to torque it pull off bit of an upset we tapped into number eight Alliance but speed is the birth speed alliance a truly Action Alliance in three matches and finish as the captain of the finals Alliance for our field we're really proud of that then at the World Championships in st. Louis this tour begins found great success as those the champion justice torpid won our division the Archimedes division be one of the

02214 that are lying to win the 66 team field because of that victory toward qualified to continue on to play on the Einstein field playoff where we were among one of the 48 teams in the entire world out of 3,000 total aims in the competition to play in the final round off with the first robotics competition this year where he finishes semi-finalists for the world championship so installment qu from that point on Vick here you can see our insulation as we celebrate with our lines is after our to evaluate winning performances first at the Waterford different and then later on nakamise division called the world championship don't like every year our team picks out on the field matched only by our senior success in their future and dollars with the seven treated by the over

023four hundred and sixty thousand dollars in scholarships that this year's tour lasts the points on the team was awarded to time to wide variety schools ranging all the way from Sydney Australia to South Bend Indiana to tell you wide range of subjects the official plaque was a truly very successful and very proud out of all that the tour continued our colleges so and the problem s problems we are open archetypes in competitions we're also honored to receive several awards for our accomplishments outside of matches themselves at our to just rely on South Jeolla Waterberg torque receives the gracious professionalism award which is the war that we were nominated for by our publishing in recognition it's all our commitment to holding the ideal diverse including aging other teams and in maintaining a consistent with stocks and

024comments throughout the competition we also received the Industrial Safety Award and the pit paste the award the recognition of our efforts to keep our team and other states and develop a culture of safety vocal in robotic and outsiders so in conclusion I'd like to say the team has a really bad day spa be upon my life and taught me to grow and learn so much for these past several years it is been a great experience to the top bond I've ever had and what does that experience in my life I'd like to thank you so much for your support as a team and making it possible and why so many students design a business wonderful program thank you so really quickly I'm going to go through my trip that I took in January to Australia

025and how that on release robotics and what that holds for my computer so in January January I traveled to Sydney Australia to its hadn't the Rideau trip this is usually a program that is limited with all men sirs usually above the age of 48 and not on so I was very happy to accept it into this program up there for three weeks on which I hope throughout the outback visit board from high schools and health of our body cheap at each high school and the goal of the program wasn't really difficult robots and the kids but it was really spread the word of technology and really help those kids computer for education going off the top of my head I want to say that 90% of the kids in these communities don't go on secondary

026education out of high school so that will hold the program and that's what I did these are a few of our pictures the top left one is us at I'm going to forget all the names oh and I'm up here but so these are the four high school that we went to the top one top left was Ivanhoe on bottom left was West why alarm top right was can Cano Boleyn I was her canola's of the calculator school and then the bottom what one was condolence pencil this is a few pictures of me teaching with kids it was a great trip I was so ecstatic to get approval through you guys to be able to go and having a counselor perfectly non with peer advisors and gone for three weeks whistles know there is a

027few the shots that we got won't we were there it was pretty neat looking amazing experience and I'm so happy to be able to hope they see you guys so because of that I'm Michael and I got to travel to Houston in late April for the southern half of championships so this year first split championships in the two parts north championship and south championship so we were really happy to be able to do that the only reason we got to do that because I've made contacts on that team from Australia and actually invited Elsa to comes out and hand up participate with them they actually ended up winning the Chairman's award which is the highest recognized award within 1st and we were able to experience that that I mean it was amazing alright so my

028pijama Australia on this summer I'll be traveling to Sydney Australia go to school there at Macquarie University under the quadrupole bush and scholarship problem due to my efforts through robotics and yeah it's amazing in September we'll be travelling through by India and possibly China we don't know about China yet to spread the word robotics what I did in Jane Eyre is kind of a part-time job and the full-time version what we didn't live there almost part of those scholarships I'm working for the University on that so and then I would a better chairman the video with like two minutes and the designs really quickly absolutely or people you guys maybe not a little boys gonna wear comedies awesome oh crap sounder let me know after the speakers on you right oh yeah I'll just explain

029as we go through American problems so join us tactics wise they've done such an amazing job they're the first team to win the Chairman's Award out of North America teams from the US and Canada want to previously promised they're the first one they took trips to China Taiwan and I believe Japan is where they have been they do this program called Robo camps where they go in it's actually a fundraiser for their team who pumps of students can pay their way through the program they travel on they do at least four trips every competition season comes other expenses come to about ten thousand student so they have to raise on when through that they work with other teams throughout the world on top of their teens they run a full time online health program so

030they are 24/7 call line that they run great build season um so really teams or any teams need help they call it that hotline and I'll get healthier through that they've released I can't remember the number they've raised a lot of money to help are there other schools throughout Australia and throughout the world they're currently assisting teens in over 12 countries and have started being 14 its visit China on there in your LEGO League and that they started an offseason event on set out of seasons out of the six weeks competition season um Down Under so they call it the dual down under and they've actually started to regionals in season Australia so all those teams that we don't mentor teamed up with Pete and it's about it put maybe for one song so yeah

031it was a great experience looking back on I can't believe I'm going to Australia on offshore Michigan's oh yeah thank you guys so much and on [Applause] hey turkey not be any other groups back there they're such a good all right will you forgive me that may be honest that's not a fricative all right all right I to be tender staff breakfast so we are very pleased to recognize our teachers who are achieving tenure this year I know that it's a busy time of year and appreciate those who are able to come out I'm going to go and when I reach your name if you could stand come forward is to jump under will you do a certificate so we have a number of amazing staff we're recognizing tonight Margaret please the Bremen Carolyn Connor

032Renai July gir Shannon hey alligator could not be here [Applause] this being here Jackie cabina Cady LaLanne [Applause] Sandra MacDonald horizon and Jen Terry Elinor Jen was not going to thank you we have great staff and we're very happy to welcome them into the tenure world we're move on with IRA see what's in my backpack thank you I'm here working on the Jefferson alessa's that I've met rostered dr. cool care phenomena so great she was going to be results importantly we just want to give our a lot date and let you know that the sheer research on 104 students insanity both of you have smears lessons of that past it's a program where we see children communities become six meals every week done and we do food rosters and look at the community again and

033you send the departure whistle districts or we've been home it was like memory cheese in order to present cereal things like that and so we really would provide over 24,000 years we even added a fourth year of elementary school and we were able to bring a child to this year we didn't have very high numbers of mouthful so it'll be next year to be fat to brown and I'm either wonderful and healthy with us and we look forward to working in the high school and we near next year out of the tapestry invitations in the petting farm and land their self depositing updating different scientific any questions or anything let me offer you a toss up into trusting and involves some serious organization which we find that you are a devil and one should be

034happy too thank you okay moving on the board of education matters I'm a board member final comments I just wanted to let everybody know that this couple things previously we had a couple conversations going back and forth and Tom Donnelly myself Joyce and mr. throwing that together to discuss some of the comments that were going back and forth and I am the bow I am happy to say that we've discussed it the way that it should be discussed mr. Donnelly discussed with with Joyce Joyce discussed with Tom myself and Tim and we came to a very positive ending to that meeting Joyce has been able to be here due to her commitments at work she has written she put together statement that she sends the board I reached out the joy to see if it

035was something that she wanted me to read this evening but I wanted to give verification from her before I did that this one read a lot so what are they going to do it at next week so Tom did you want to add anything I guess until I had that I want to thank you and I want to thank Tim over the last month for our to try to stop the public bloodletting especially with mr. Gibbins and the thing that he said so I'm just really happy that we were able to me privately talk over some things and eventually council resolutions into what she done the start is the situation fully resolved at least so yes and I want to say that I'm very proud of the way that was handled it was handled in

036a manner that was adults behave and they discussed things appropriately and leaders resolved so going into the next item be everything to board meeting norms at a couple board meetings I in the past I send out an email asking for electronic slices text not to be sent out emails to be sent on laptops that sort of thing I noticed it on more than a handful of occasions I'm to the point now where I'm just letting everybody know that moving forward I will stop the meeting and I will address it so I just want everybody to know I have no problem with prom on many computers like we have that were district provided but we can't our job is to listen to presentations our job is to be attentive our job is to make sure that

037we're engaged at all times so I just want to bring that up it was something that I noticed them like I said more than a handful of occasions and I just want to let everybody know that's for Ratbat I'm seeing more policy regarding agenda discussions yes that's really regarded the amended meeting minutes from three nights and you all proved in the consent agenda and really all take ownership in that part that's what's brought about and that I just I didn't know what a policy read and so the car policy which is oh one six eight point one regarding unit this open meeting and it basically discovered the minutes will show only action taken if requested remarks of board members administration and our citizens present so the villages morale at my eye for the board's going

038forward and that this is how our policy read this if you guys are good with it we don't need to change a modify I'm not just in any way to do I just want to make sure that we all just were aware that out going forward so that really all different situations when they come up in the future really just want all right scheduled meeting for 2017 and 2018 school year so in your packet you given potential calendar of eight I guess we would just look for you to review the date ensure that the board wants to continue to meet on Tuesdays I have not heard anything otherwise times and dates and all that kind of stuff so just if you could please review between now and your nights leading I think we will have

039a motion on that's an agenda to approve those meeting schedule by the mistakes curriculum construction mr. Weaver yeah I'm gonna start off with a couple of gentlemen representing mr. Brown's there's a moment and we're going to draw a property into three wet cooking why don't you want to speak for a second mark along the profits or anything like that quickly we're at this point in time we have processes in terms of having an important element of business those two teams that were working with here the first team is the writing team that's the teaching team that is actually compiling the written content the second team is the community advisory team which is a group of community members that some of them have been on a team for many many years and some have been recently

040placed on the team or selected we took those applications from our survey last year people who submitted the surveys we hold those applications from there important things to know is we have clergy on our on our committee we have medical professionals on our committee we have all parents on our committee with the exception of our teaching staff not all of them are parents here but we got lucky enough to have a health teacher from another district who the wealth of knowledge for us she's very helpful and kind of sharing some things perspective outside of our our district but still in the county and we also have on it five students to seniors a junior and two freshmen that they were probably the most powerful people in on the committee because when the students talk they

041want to see adults wanted to hear what they had to say committee asked us I'll often what what's do thought and we get smart because the students that were selected of course we're seller students so they also were involved in everything so we started holding meetings at the high school during lunchtime feeding the kids and then bringing them in for feedback so crude and and when they're not in common class works really well for so that's meant of it yeah so it far that would be the two big fish you referred to as well they would ask we also had a couple public hearings we present briefly to the board we've gathered all that input we are now the process of making some final decisions and that's why the coupon gentlemen are back here tonight

042you can just go over one last time and see if there's any concerns and then just in two weeks we'll be asking for approval so why did you say ten on one thing oh we had to formal public hearings but anybody know me and ask for materials I spent and materials as well so there were people that could make it and I sent them all of the information I was trying to reach out as much as I'd hoped tell anybody reflected did this evening all right um Mike skirmish thanks for having me again I know they made the presentation last time but everyone got really excited about in so we decided we pretty I feel a bit overcome a lot of what you just heard from from Ken and Kristy we're trying to kind of

043go over in a little bit more detail more about the Prophet and some of the content that led to why that content exists in the curriculum all of the other materials are exactly the same as you receive the laminate is yeah there they are diamond business alrighty so um when we approach this process the mission that we we go about and this is not just from the process of revising and reflecting on curriculum but from the instruction of it as well is first and foremost appearances the primary educator um I think that I speak for most of us and I would say that our preference would be that the parent was the only educator um but we also know that that's not necessarily the realistic situation that we live in today our job is to

044make sure that the information that we provide is medically accurate the language the state-level actually said they cannot be medically inaccurate and we were stuck in that gesture about maybe that's the root ball if you don't cover something that exists but we want to make sure that anything that we do deliver to the students is something that's exactly remote medical standpoint this entirely community-driven will go through and will pop up some of the ways we came to the community input um we want to make sure that anything that we do creates a safe and respectful environment for all views all experiences as best that we can just let people know that they're comfortable in the classroom with not answering questions not asking questions taking in information not baby information it's really good each individual and

045we need to make sure that we meet the Michigan guidelines that state law can get into those a little bit more depth as we go through tonight um one thing I do want to make sure at any point you have a question stop me going to be water bottle at me arm just make sure that that we're communicating purple and mom just to make sure that we're communicating to you and covering the things that you want to make sure are getting cutter so um well Christian can talk a little bit about who we are as far as the OPC aspect that writing team that includes both mr. Brown myself on this guest mr. Collins who is an elementary teacher oh yes just good Rangers um and I still don't know Jessica's us even though yesterday

046yesterday officials and then this is a marshal I think we already did a good job going over the key members the breakdown is all there in fraud you have any questions about that it's not we can not your dummy that's okay what we want so this process actually started for this cycle of revision in February 2016 a survey was sent out to parents and community stakeholders on in it it was actually sounds like January 27th I think um but we collected data over a period of days on that a variety of questions and all of that information was available also in the links that were attached the last time the beard here um what we did is we took that curriculum or uh excuse me the feedback from the survey it in addition to the

047summer of 2016 researched and reviewed best practice and existing curricula some of the curriculum that we looked at we're advocates for youth program puberty the Wonder Years puberty workshop with another one plus existing curriculum that we already have on we try to align that as best that we could to the results of the survey to make sure that what we were finding in the curriculum that existed was beyond the needs requests or wants of our stakeholders and that's kind of what ultimately led us to where we work after we had a chance to look at all of that data and all of the information that we collected from the different curricula we met with the gap scheme just listed out their report and we use that data to develop and scheduling within our group on

048after we had an opportunity to do all of that we separated as a writing group again got that chance again and took the times make sure that our Brazil on track here is there anything that's come up are you okay with these resources that we're using with through this process that's where as his marshall talk about divide into teams two public hearings i think important to note with public hearings we schedule one for the morning and one for the evenings is who are best to get as many people an opportunity to come share in your shoes and speak to the content that we discussed we really wanted to do our best to reach as many of our stakeholders as we possibly could after we look for that we we finalized all our visions we presented

049to OCT mr. Collins miss gets myself and Gibson Marshall mr. Brown wasn't there that one was able to respond to and take input from OCC and that's what we presented to you the last time after the last time we had an opportunity for half a day with Wendell Alexander we wanted to take some time to discuss some of the more sensitive content in the LGBTQ lessons that are involved in the high school curriculum after that so we went through her junior public hearing and word feedback and that brings us to tonight where we're kind of bringing everybody up to date on what we were able to cover what we're able to review revise and so we have any questions to this point now one of the things that we don't really have an option we

050have to buy mission log teach content in each building at every level to some capacity or three days idea needs note as with any part of the curriculum that involves the reproductive health content students can be opted out of any part of it even the required HIV in a plan oh and we also have all of the state laws here to like favor feeling essence are apparently nope no they are without punishment without reprimand without any consequence whatsoever and that's actually spelled out in the state laws in that so it's going to be much okay yeah there there's a summary of the high school they go to use immediate or opposed in office and their conditional review on their own and you have her bodily function we recover birthdays and community for not yet they

051have stuff to work out here in particular so one of the primary things to be we realized from our data we set out the Community Survey we had a grand total 545 by exomes 548 3 people respond to that no they weren't going to take part in the survey ok at 549 people that said that they would take part in the survey and a first question that we ask is should the school district in use instead of age-appropriate lessons on puberty sex education or reproductive health at the following levels and as you go through a new book we the fourth column we end on our own is from an average of standpoint at the elementary level it was over 80 percent said that we should include this in our curriculum and we had over 90%

052in both cases at the middle school and high school level that this should be a part of that taking that information in line with what we've done in the past in this district is we didn't offer a more comprehensive curriculum than just the state requires each time you need instructions since we are going that route here that's what we've done the past and ever taking the feedback and doing when we do offer that sexuality education these are the requirements at the state level we must teach prevention of HIV and other diseases then this is an accident and you'll see abstinence referred to as risk of risk avoidance in several spots the consequences of sex possibility of unplanned pregnancy and STI FDS lost regarding Parenthood refusal skills powers control personal behavior healthy dating relationships adoption and

053fake delivery of newborns and age of consent please understand that this is a copy of the list of laws not how we treat them from a hierarchical standpoint we're not placing value over the other or saying it you know the fifth-grade level we're going to be touching on most of those topics um but that's just a list at they are in order in the state laws it says we've talked about state laws I help me understand your the state say there's a time which and the information is good at meeting because it started a certain grade this is specific very level not anything that I seen I think that's more more our house so the state just said this is what you're not router yes the hiv/aids portion has two dinners going oh okay so

054that has to start every time of transition don't you see blood on the floor probably does not - don't like love yourself and if it doesn't work that's important because we're talking about HIV MA obviously the ways that it can be contracted through one out of four of those types of things will be important that the community is aware that that is the communication is going to be on the street so thank you for pointing out is from Marshall along with some of the other statistics that we came across these were some that I believe we contain to include because they were more in line with some of the newer laws when we started talking about when should adoption take delivery first be taught and if you see the color code at the bottom you'll

055see that not so many people are interested in teaching too many of our schools that before fourth grade but as you get to fifth grade you see a steady increase in that demand up to the ninth grade level different are you saying that you're talking about labor and delivery fourth grader no no no no I'm making a backup that looks like death next epoch know what this is the survey data that came back that said when should that be taught and our community members that responded to the survey they'll see almost no responses for that early age and I also want to point out the businesses on orders either that is there in the law which in law the vision loss of individuality for the rectification prisms to have to address adoption regularly so that

056is what the community recommended being first talked to by majorities in the ninth grade giving early community by and large publication saw and which does my on the whatever is nothing personal losses saying that we're actually aligned quite nicely with what beauty goes with my piece by March and what will awesome we haven't eat as well as when we grew the next fight was when should we do this hiv/aids risk reduction if you see again and not a lot of respondents to the below fourth-grade level you see a study increase and I think mr. Ellison or pointed this out a lot of times when people are thinking about hiv/aids questions they're thinking about hiv/aids they're not thinking necessarily about risk avoidance washing your hands making sure that you don't touch somebody else or band-aids on

057donors or gym floor staying with insurance covering your mouth or your tissues those types of things they business where I think we're specifically looking at the HIV and AIDS as an organism and associated when should be first peaceful bezel legal consequences of underage steps again in pretty much speaks for itself kind of line with what this gives Marshall said pong is this pretty much been in line with what we've been required to do by the state and what we have done as a curriculum sorely one of the things that also came out as we talked about parent information in the past a lot of what we have done is communicated with the parent grammar said you know this information is available at the certain location air place as a move to revising our curriculum we

058did a lot more than trying to design or design opportunities for optional enrichment activity and they way to give parents a little bit more power and resource in teaching the curriculum you'll see this a little bit later when we go into the content so again with all the information that we're talking about at any point any part all over just a little parents empty the write-offs to the top of any lesson or the unit no penalty to suit at all just to get talk a little bit about what that means high school at the elementary level it's is the same so the biggest question that came out in the topic representatives we were talking with the concept of sexual orientation and gender identity when we enter the question how many of our respondents believe it

059potentially taught we had nearly eighty seven percent eighty six point one seven of our community say that this is something that should be taught at some level in Oxford Community Schools with thirteen point eight three percent that they would prefer that it wasn't taught when the grape is down a little bit more by grade level you'll see um that we have approximately 27 percent that think that it's something that we should be teaching or I'm instructing by the time the students are in fifth grade fifty-three percent in the middle school level and 18% of proximately at the high school level now this is something that we also found when we were going through our different curriculum pretty low carbon is that there are a lot of critters out there that are probably a little more

060progressive than our community would like to have some straw at this point um there are some lessons in particular in an advocates review program where it grade it has adopted some third grade lessons because it's a little more appropriate for our community it would break down the grade level a little bit further this is the average grade to come out of the gate or - if you do the math then you look through the seventh grade grade level by the end of seventh grade our community number respondents almost 70 percent said that this is something that they would like to have as part of our instruction by the end of seventh grade again with our cat team with our advisory councils um with the feedback that we receive parents are parent meetings on then especially

061some of the student feedback we decided that we really should keep this any middle and high school level so a little bit of the convent it fit grade in our growth and development unit we talked about reproductive Anatomy this is more or less in parts and how they begin to function we talked about the physical and social changes of puberty and adolescence we disap hygiene and we talked about hiv/aids education and risk avoidance again references normally don't amendment as the reference earlier what we're discussing risk avoidance as it relates to education at the elementary level these are the things like where you're honest when you're going to write your bite don't eat too much candy without brushing your teeth through the cavity make sure you wear sunscreen all those types of things as we move

062up to help the students have a better understanding of what operating grace is social American what's the one Iran right now it's kind of the scope it's really just be really for the break down to our almost five minute to stop it for its level so that's its kind of almost there this will top at 180 minutes total for the fifth grade so there's some content when we get into Senate for human we're looking at a total of nine hundred and fifty four minutes um and the strangers that that might be an overshoot by bubbling minutes um but the topics that are discussed is a review on puberty on morning depth conversations about risk avoidance sexual decision-making sexually transmitted infections hiv/aids and education pregnancy and childbirth gender identity sexual orientation when we broke out the

063minute the you minutes that are spent on generation orientation or a pool of 25 and that equates to approximation point six five percent of the available minutes and description purchasable incision is a typology and just when you are seventh grade scope and sequence you go female anatomy male anatomy is that broken into two separate groups of a learn about female and a female anatomy altogether I'm not attacking shot that was they introduced some all to create the country okay cuz we used a using 2.6% entire time five minutes for that when it should be right one lemon they're not I mean how do you how did you I think our Amin event the goal I think the way the way that that was look at it look at from the need this is what is

064the stuff in the curriculum dishes using answer main resource and also keeping in mind that we have a two-year review cycle to make sure that we're introducing this at a rate that isn't faster than we should probably approach it that gives us an opportunity if it's not enough minutes in our two-year cycles to look at adding minute um once the minutes are in there it's really really hard to hear it and so I think we're taking the same approach yes we introduced these compounds but again just as not here soaps but our community the things that we referenced earlier on in making sure that we are doing our best to keep the parent is the primary educator is we've offered more optional enrichment activities these also exist at a fifth-grade level but these are more

065pamphlets and handouts is someone has to give their son you know this is why you need to use deodorant maybe there's a pamphlet on that if there's a worksheet about you know why your room and how come you are your parents there's a worksheet on that what we get in to do this at a grade level what that can I just end of today oh when we get when we get into the middle school level again keeping in mind that some of the content topic is a little more sensitive nature oh these are activities that are going to be communicated to the pears available for them to use this isn't a here's every single resource we have you between this is a this is where they're located if you would like them you can get

066them it's very trouble finding that impede access will get them for you again this is a resource for a parent that wants to use these yes I attended your charity means that I'm also some uppity resurrected some of the older brain parent information is extremely slim I felt get parent and workaround receives a lot of concerns which may be like that I realize that being tended like activities but I worry that day still being random actors who support programs there they are loved it you can use them we are uncomfortable sitting in a room with people I didn't know watching them and an adult have their concerns and I've heard a lot of concern I that we approach X after and pick up line and you know this amount I'm all for common and just

067a little bit that we're setting some of those the segment's video specifically is on I a multi know how to put it on to test your and on the other young woman you know during the chat in work and going into that processes and submits about it just it's real appropriate you know having attended our feedback session city we're able to tell appearance missions making that feedback luckily Papa that us because that for the first couple years right what to make sure that we were flapping that feedback so I'm sure leading the consistency I am a chef of the pieces so in future meetings and well I guess what I develop my form that I have submitted to us for every public hearings of that market means that the radiosity I will get for must've

068yes but and so they do you share that information with a semester the second thing that I want to say is giving that comfortable for you as a parent of a child is especially after middle school or beginning to go down that row that video point completely for you at that time so the reason of the video that's appropriate for parents when I'm sending this kids for sending all to the parents um Oh heaven consider well and I'm sorry Matthew Jack we're not sending the video to the parents we're sending it will be to access the materials if they so choose that that's something that they plan appropriate for their child it's not something that here's an email of these four things it's here daily this is a resource if you choose to get it

069like you said they could go up to YouTube and get they could go out and get the parent questionnaires youtuber just search Google visit us trying to provide our stakeholders with the information that they said that they would like to have that's just how we're trying to do our best to revise the curriculum content structure and those parents were uncomfortable with that once they viewed it choose not to share it as we will then go to whatever percentage they then feel comfortable doing it would not be held back because we would eliminate this because some parents might not want to show this to their children when others might Connecticut content making investment as far as length and parents can do that and Wendy said before we both to have the parents at number one educator

070on this and that provides them information on which they can choose to serve a particular elevator vote one more there's a repair to them at home arms up captain correct any more being business book material that you have to be returned to the school so they don't feedback but now Aventa right I'll settle for another fulfillment like that that you need absolutely change to the original when you have questions so it's optional material now that the parents can look fresh breath receive in addition so that if they choose to have that conversation with their son or daughter that's an option recently yeah really optimum believer the feedback from from our our Katie mother became to the criterion people of government and he wanted me in protective you thought this much more if you want to

071you know all right not nothing that you said about your options no no no no like that's why we're here to make sure that we're communicate this is transparently a lot of what we don't know and as we move to 9th 12th grade is for sex education we're looking at a total of 750 men there again to reproductive inanity review buildings from energy Secretary's consent group high school again the concept of risk avoidance sexual decision-making consent versus sexual assault sexually transmitted infection hiv/aids education contraception LGBTQ a terminology legal issues parental responsibilities safe delivery methods on the paper to be something that into it be able to speak I mean good question it's a I I love the kid anymore but I mean all this stuff really know one thing that we're adding is lgbtqa+ terminology

072which is always I know that was the hot topic had some series and whether revisiting I'm going to help me back kinda make updates but all along with our stakeholders life as for everything help find your safe delivery you'll see is law we have to cover that offender sexual assault okay we're talking about law but the state says we have to cover everything else I thought really layman yes so the parts of parts of the top for the functionality what are we doing obviously risk avoidance we talked about ethics how to avoid if we get to a point where we feel like everyone's move forward how to protect ourselves in the best of our ability contraception he says aids yep was a high risk low risk no risk activities for you to contract the disease

073and yep there it is thank you myself to see people with them Sarah Carolina hi there are all right I'm just going to click go ahead I was about with airless you know what now review like boy while Mr probz looking for that okay last my course you later oh that you'll react your messages well I'm just trying to think of broad scope yep empowering 5,500 students in the district and this missus get said earlier you opt out you go and you learn or whatever the additional topic is what at what point is a student group on risk of a lot of this I'm asking out of this I'm knocking out of that they just now pass the class it's not there's that students preparing for that oh okay so prepared is containing so imperative

074I'm knocking out of this business that's correct empty never do that not in algebra interesting what is just an education no impact on grade an adult so need you feel off take a nap thousand whole unit or yellow members are look and just to an Twitter to as well they have the opportunity to review the the curriculum on the path you had a felony a school body hair cut in the old-fashioned way stuff like that the middle school you probably have probably the biggest turnout fifth grade para technology topics milk blades shared by her open lot more issues 22 perhaps an issue the open sea more frequently at the middle school age and so forth in my first time they it seems and it's a one a Kennedy be servicing or block awareness we have

075usually about 30 parents to come in 30 35 they can review the curriculum so it's not like the curriculum is to away in a box in place in Paris Tennessee together and at any time they want to commend state also to they can review it not just at one particular moment they contribute in time and I think we're all moving towards a kind of consciousness gifs Marshall about putting it out electronically so that there is continual access as well to communion so without the all time so that you review and then they can opt out Jannetty that the waters whose principal mom is right really great or email and then we sort out and pretty successful relationship technically here in answer both earrings that they wanted more but at our page to make sure that

076all that concept is there rocket launchers dr. philip erikson water toy group and click on that at any time and they can culture that replied every video every everything that we talked about early and out is always great available holiday is our class so located on this and speaking from my own black experience we had I believe one student out of three fifth grades this year hop it up partially they didn't have their student there for every one lesson and he was there for the rest of them so that's definition as well and anyone is holding your bed coati notice no we won't have one familiar and then basics a middle school f2 and I've actually taught my lessons from the electronic eye cream stuff for the last few years so in a hundred things

077and if I'm hearing mr. Weaver correctly we still have it old school on paper for those that are our time and end until one picture we also we also send out we has a whole design apparently it's a heads up chief and make sure those query studio has a heads up every parent sign this and they know that this is coming out here they're Hopkins here's what they can do here submitting so we reminded to be a year tables always written as well because of approaching whichever method we are looking to resources to the Texas or we are capricious all so there is a telephone instead of that one spondylus mister so it is likely probably make a little less sense from a Content standpoint so there are seven hundred and 60 whole minutes on

078the topics it gave reference as being the new things that we q8 out of analogy so against the next slide there is one lesson that is taught on the topic that is a lot of to thirty minutes probably less than that and you consider sitting down handing out papers plucking papers engine questions but place approximately five percent of the entire unit instructional time David you're amazing okay you know I think is walk you through how to get arrest concept is that you are given a biological set then there is only image brush yourself and then there's a way we all identify with a gender you may agree or disagree with your with your biological sex and then we have attraction and so whether it's myself an issue here I would be a female biologically who

079identifies as a female too distracted to my husband and but my expression I was in half it is not natural for me to put on these stupid shoes and this measure ever so really a baseball hat and have a softball my left hand is a far more natural it for me for me to healthcare threesome indeed and running around soccer field Barbara hospital for me but so my expression tends to be more masculine so what this does is allow people price if it is their head okay so what's the toilet I know I can identify that this gender preferences just the way I will do it in that that the important piece of this the way why we chose the gender because every person can relate with whether you're a tomboy or you express like

080a girly girl you have you're able to wait house is now my mom would be item by logical is biologically female identify the female attracted to yes and expressive like a Disney princess will never ask the kids to tell us what their gender bread looks like but it's more of a process for them to go through on their all-tournament so we'll never have this trouble you got to insurance in here that's not an evil mm look for who did want them to notice that referencing earlier things that have been altered a little bit with that optional resources for parents we came to realize through our conversations with my cloud of bandar that we actually in the original materials had one of our slacks wrong one of our definitions was in the inappropriate place so I

081don't remember which one it was sanity yeah I don't need somehow the identity element was placed underneath biological and that number of that is very good as impressed that was in you know how they nest Imperial if that was any confusion a concern again with all this we discussed repeatedly opt out if there's anything that a parent doesn't want to use isn't comfortable with refers to a problem would prefer not to at all that is the option for the family with no penalty for the two new okay thank you very much this question are you stubborn yeah have you seen anything my only meant view of the people that popped out but I understand that there's no penalty but it's really real life ramification let me the rest of the class knows that they're not

082there anything like that not in my level the middle and also Vale and I anyone get any idea why she would not air questions okay any further questions okay thank you thank you very much all right I think the group committee which it is stay in preaching all artwork it was a lot of time into this very careful tom and making sure the immunity inputs be recommend one goes under still be what default was required by the law really where this handle a couple of other issues one in your packet there was a hope for calculators and math looks as for your information now the way we want operated in two weeks go ahead and ask for approval on that if you so choose tie if you could prove we do I good at it

083if you build like you can do that the reason being is that a lot to make sure that or seize material and they're not trying to make sure we get them in in September so that there's here sometimes we will cut these little hooker they were supposed to be with us when we presented the math curriculum but me I had ample prompts be done when I with that room they had some errors in and then I have to have it you're done by the time you got back to close on grant Paula died and you can put that pressure on you but if you don't think you can do that as well that is fully by I can do is go get them in time they just deserves that so that's up to you and

084then the other thing I wanted it what I was announced and as out his solution presented they had the materials they said it would be coming for that later paint and just to make sure that the curriculum materials are all approved by the board this is Lauren fYI is a small amount of money so it really doesn't have you voted on by the floor but I just wanted to make sure in this closure that you have a list of books is they're asking they're all proprietary looks dumb and this woman's good but okay here the teacher is happening Jack and Kim their leadership plan on purchasing a summer lot of human all fairness is she presented that there's materials to be coming later base 20 we do this and then the other order of business

085is you can see there's a long list of approvals and just a reminder that the Crick movies all tonight to become kind to be that will be coming back in two weeks for your vote help reproductions we have some motions mr. Prabhakar edges questions chairman that I understand we really if possible you would like to have a little challenge calculators and math folks today yeah that would allow music active moving on it to the end of the year and again I apologize a lot of chocolate for office them for you and ensuring working with vendors and isotopes we're done but I totally understand it will make it work as well if you're not the probable with that so I lit out of here and what do you think the best foot forward eyes is that

086the board's that we want to do that and I move on that that's um so exactly as a legend away why don't you do your motion prepared and we'll end it left hand here [Music] and you have a peacock Joe's a t-shirt out there this is whatever TV wants to get a big lump of a sweeter okay so we have some emotions out there something like first this shape replacing hope to frequent seven to twelve match for Tillman for the May 20 2017 support mr. sweat any discussion of favor thank you ocean carrier strike moutoku be biomed four-year curriculum presented hate 23rd 2017 support support discovery discussion on paper hi proposed motion carries another one discovered which improves the actors bridges service market crackers another event in May 23rd 2017 support no discussion all in

088purchase of big ideas math HEA books from holding Midland carport at a cost of one hundred and eight thousand six hundred and thirty eight dollars and 87 cents support mr. Staub a discussion paper I host most carats thank you okay is nine our agenda [Applause] it depends we couldn't afford the Braille and curriculum and I feel bad and Sam's letting me cut so if that's so thumb for student services active reasons that I like to addressed right Sam which is our continuous improvement monitoring system is fully prevention data and then 13 reasons why not Kaminsky through the first half of my students have an opportunity to share some of their experiences with you send as a state monitoring system that monitors special education so for the 1617 school year we think I may do the

089same kind of rating and you see with tens information that kind of the young red yellow green on our special education drop of graduation rates is in the yellow is the total jobless they recommend that 8% of our special education students graduate with the general web diploma this year we were at 78% so we were for that disproportionate representation is where they are looking at a weighted risk ratio in terms of race and ethnic background and when we dug a little deeper into that data if indicated that we were over suspending African American students at a rate higher than Caucasian students when we really looked into some more that was the students at where crossroads where the majority of the students there are african-american so that makes sense to us at crossroads we put in

090some additional has to be supported there and then the other area of disproportionate representation was with identifying african-american students at a higher grade as learning disabled than Caucasian students we looked into that data after residents are the majority of the rest of our Caucasian of students the power of students schools of choice students are more diverse and so when you look at a ratio of residency suppose that is probably school of choice students and the diversity there that's why that number one disproportionate secondary transition is one portion of a 15-page I the PE and there were some complying they are with teachers that turn out to check a box uses just one box you're off compliance and then our handling and accurate data but 100% accurate and of all people accounting data and our IP

091timeliness so just wanted to update you and that special education compliance this year the next thing I wanted to really talk about it Pam is here to help me address it if she wants to jump in at any time while ours is bully prevention data back in the fall you saw some data from a national survey that had some examining question but you had asked us to look into that more we did obey his bully prevention survey which is third for two-thirds of those who saw 40 questions up just to remind everybody the definition of bullying and what are available prevention program the structure of that program of all our data you can see we this is the high school with 2011 survey data in 2016 survey data the purple bar our the Oxford high

092school girls and boys and then yellow diamond is the national comparison so you can see in 2011 there were grades where we were above the national average we implemented bully prevention program and when we did the data gathered of the rating agencies it's a pain to set very impressive a lot of analyzing of this is this is one fly in your water pack I believe it's a each building is a 75-page document I picked this one slide because I could go on and on with the data that you would think I was Hannah here I'm right about what I am as a national data that national data actually enough better to learn appears because the national data is mask it compared to all other schools for gentlemen in the old a school intervention program so

093those are school districts of engaging a proactive approach Google of dimensions so were even comparing ourselves to other schools we're doing this is the middle school beta we did the survey in 2011 implemented the program and then you can see the 2006 data so actually our leach couldn't of Sidra lonstein oh okay so again awesome data we're so very proud of those results this is clear light so again you know brad has really glad to implement double BS bully prevention program and clear life those were the only three schools that are we had 2011 David ah this is Oxford Elementary did not take the syrup in 2011 but again you can see their data this is letter elementary dresses of surveying in 2016 so we don't have any comparison data there and then this is

094Lakeville then we came and I went around we met with every golden principal top looked at all 74 pages of their data looked at what they were doing what they could be doing differently I don't want to read this off to you but what areas that the high school wanted to focus on was the hallways I think there was one that met other and I think Pam I figured out that that was for talking they figure out how you would figure out because our other number with a lot but it covers literally every single area of the school and they were given a nice number during the ballgame pleasers and I know like in the stance Super Session is they're all eating this discusses what they're even adding their actor not yourself so we need

095to focus on the dance so that is safer for nice intense barriers and the stands that number deaf our entire girls that has been so to be more specific answers everything come towards the river Neman creeper didn't really do provision and hollered into the revision history recipe as using an example adults they're you know if elementary level would you talk of playground / problem hallways Montreux so we'll continue to work come with each of the buildings to continue down implements program and then the last thing is the 13 reasons why at home I'm going to let Pam give me a lot of the information I believe that we had started off thinking this was going to be a 13 day little project and as much as you know it grew into something far bigger than

096we ever dreamed when I do own it not with the class and said hey no they said this sounds like a good idea let's do it now like sounds great I have no idea to get was giving it and I'm so proud of all the kids and they all came here to myself we talked about with Pam you know what we're our project goals what if we want to accomplish and I got my major goal what's trying to drop all the negativity that will surround the Netflix series 15 reasons why so I think um and as it rolled out our goal became bigger and more apparent as to what we wanted if you guys want to jump in and say anything around the links at the end and let you speak to more we kind

097of are that has tough that he had come up with and trying to refrain from the the necklace that was blaming somebody to thanking somebody so I think that Pam did a great job is tough with our vetting each one of those stories communicating with parents prior to any story being shared I think there was a lot of work that went on behind the scenes to make it as successful as it was we definitely have different ailments and again is answered I did anybody keep a list of everybody that contacted up and I think like what an amazing list of media that we shall be water last week we had Michigan State University was here conducting the survey in a research study project on the impact of thirteen reasons right now so we'll just almost

098off things that or results of the project and then I went circle back to the class and we talked about now on because you just did one in and said okay now what so Pam did a lot of work and then our next steps work how to keep this you know and wartime so I'm going to turn it over to Pam anything that they want Sharon I'm very obviously I see America with the residues of them of any kind to started we have a group and as we saw maybe maybe they were pursuing his journal had a group chat with all of them and if someone contacts or different board meetings mister be faithful and today are and it's all voluntary they're just very different extremely passionate attachment at much more passionate even than any

099of the dolt in the project they have carried it they have been strong voices they have spoken for themselves which is like only one dinner do something along to do what they do but they continue he didn't just graduate and move on and they have continued to embrace the project and be a voice for kids around the country so this is Jordan Jaden and he was taken umber to he was graduated alumni about residual Kaler Manzella people for sport graduate alumni of Occidental Robert Savage in one area loves at what takes ten Napier car was our last but not least tape and alumni and hospitable Dylan cop stopped 2x6 Thank You neuron from alongside actor Facebook Victoria Volvo was 11 Thank You alumni back for high school and manager okay six-six I'm going to say

100that I'm going to be a senior Knox in high school and this is a measly alma her the last board meeting to some other Lena and morganatic who did hate finish okay so I'm going to allow them let them talk if you all want to ask them questions they have a lot to say and they have a lot of power behind ours we were over there for being little crated up and eating out of it because I think a lot of got Cyril to a decision so we are you have any questions we've heard of all what you do and you only when you get your glory we serve it alone prostitute yes boys discipline 10 times stronger would a family with Adler anytime a when I ordered a net while after he played me

101and all that hard without encounters of Bosnia with animals of noted the earthly quarter and we're all made condoms for opportunity a that outfit not one of the season either common drove me entire boxtroll 13 acres number an animatronic directed at orthogonal I will say that the answer is both is n top of the image here in Athens of America Michigan State at being of years woken up potato the time to show kind of how farms would come a year in the making even after project ended in clothes changing as ma writing to senior about that granite but I believe in progress you can we talk about it it's good to know that people know that is that it's okay to talk about it and that people are something up offshoring and other accepting of

102people that want to buy rights and their students that in a sheriff's or so people feel they want to hear many people coming forward and like one here so they know about their animals and so going on so it happened to Dylan how did your parents get here watch your story Clark know personally very correctly they did not know they helped minutes I called them call my mom and we had altered like that exploring okay so Caesar exported everything I'm grateful for that but a lot of my parents knew my stories about my fears is because my stuff happened before I was here so like my a lot of friends were really surprised we believe that like I've been doing a visitor but it was all positive stuff then I really actually be able to

103connect with people who have been working hard on their life and be able to help them with their juice signal record like airship so back to the started project so we first Hank you know right attorney she's not here right but she was probably the main we would consider her our student leaders come on thirty of us here in this company in Israel so when it first started entirely shell-shocked the entire school because like she came on after discoveries like they have an important message and she came on and everybody instantly knew what she was talking about this almost everyone I guess in ninety percent of the school has watched that thirteen reasons lineup series in temper like other ten percent has to know like it's everywhere all over social media people talk about it

104in school so when she first came out and played her story it started as a controversy but I really was talking about it and they weren't sure how I felt about it because they were like oh whoa like she kind of stopped but that's under life to point out the viewlet so we think it's good and people started talking about it all day longer the teachers were not being questioned about it having conversations with the students so that head takes progress I feel like on all 13 games they covered everyone's life so a lot of people in school had the same problems as one of these tapes so there was a skeptic there's somebody like oh you know I think this is a good idea this is blah blah until they heard a story coming

105out mouse-over the air time I think that's when at the end of the 13th safe I think it really did everyone that if we're all enjoying this one and that really everyone has their own story and that there's really nothing to be mad about because we're just making people in our lives and improving other people to thank their people in their lives for helping them get through hard times and helping improve their own this tab oh I was only noticeable some ugly many more oh thank you so much she's amazing perfect and beyond this is one minute so this also via the school whatever pray that this one right here these are in all the defense's I was at your original talk of the TAC how's the guys set up stinking proud of you it

106is easy in society to hide when there's anything it's a little bit harder to have a voice it's world-changing to create movement to start changing the way people and to give them a safe place to say it doesn't have to be this way I am so stinking proud of you and I just want you to know how big of a thing you've done because it's possible not just Oxford but the rollout is the ripple effects don't use the water here your burbles you can have to be part of changing the way society thinks I'm just really proud of you great job this aesthetic very similar calm mr. Doniger said that I'd like to propose the first step of adding to that ripple in every fall in the November school board members from all over the

107state pass out at a conference I believe this year is amazing and there's keynote speakers and their presentations by students I think that they're doing in their school this would be a phenomenal presentation to go to this fall I've mentioned at the booth of Rome and to past and supersonic that I think I know it takes to get a prepayment down there but so my question to you guys is could you be available to go to something like that even you graduated you guys maybe $1 or somewhere else but you know that would be so cool they let me sit down and said you guys are really on the brink of changing the world this is that greater than I did thank you market the best dollars and dollars now see how we can do

108that if I write a proposal technically is how founder a little bit on the Michigan State study the the research of researchers reviewing excess they indistinct it will be definitely ready in July when there's month and we'll be able to share it with the board but they gave us the luminary data and they were approved by IRB is a true research study the Michigan State they wanted to study the impact that the program had on the student actors and then you have separate focus groups on the actual students who participated and we had again 10 out of 11 you know we didn't have Jordan had to work that day have we had all of the kids in the study there preliminary data was and I'll be there guys we had a lot of people studying

109our program around the next base and it makes me remember sometimes because oh my gosh it's just my nail like now everybody's looking at it very carefully and then just want to make sure that I was right and deployment data was that it but there was not one negative out of any of the focus groups of the random study they had four different focus groups that we have of the day and they were that this one say best that the only things that the students says that they would hesitate on is just being replicated in other districts because the students were afraid that if it wasn't done correctly that students could be part I really find cotton Universal this Tuesday when I bought for Nia and one over on the East Coast we get calls

110all the time about school and rotate that so it was probably our national pilot air conditioner because I think if you candidacy recently and kids can be heard I also think that the data that was not there about the climate zone is now a valuable and we couldn't have done this six years ago you have to have the right climate culture you have that kids who are empowered and you know how to design this get up man separate agriculture unity start we front-loaded Twitter I give her a lot of things that we give you magazines that to protect the students you can't be present in a certain way you know I do that baby they get crushed you maximum element only time you know you get on there and this gets out somewhere and you

111can have horribly Thomas K about you I don't know exactly where like I just want to do it I didn't help people so they had to have that time that spigot month because social media can be very cool it just hasn't been to them which is great and they're so just making sure that it was done correctly but the everything means that it was that everything's going to come back from studies as they're in harvest interesting enough don't you guys know but every focus groups doesn't see the biggest impact if they've had sons internally so when on taste it is still needed to make their team on the last day of seniors last day but there's their reasoning was hearing and adults I think this is an important part is that we live the dollar

112voice with lessons or phrase invoices there are districts and again to commend you know mister drill there are districts that are calling me that they're not living in the book but they're handing out detentions in the high school if they say 13 reasons why if they are heard of stuff in the show they get a detention in April so the difference between that in what we're doing and we're going to do that you know we got obviously without higher approval so it was a huge risk and they paid off but they said that hearing an adult speak hearing mr. double-talk one means leading and they love women but the other part was the sentence Michigan's day you're an adult talk and hearing and he had mysteries something you know pretty significant so he here and

113seeing that you get through it that you get through it and you be successful do we have we have regrets and that there is hope general and sometimes being I think sharing some of ourselves with the kids more not a lot sharing some some things with the kids depends time letting them know that their teachers are human and then you all are human and we've been to a lot of their struggles is also the people part of the project is listening to each other and giving help to each other so they feel free kitchen fighter here they're like they're amazingly kind to each other they're just incredibly protective of each other and they're their group kids that were going out normally and now we've found each other they test a lot about our chest so

114Kayla [Music] the school board for them truth flicker you guys stand up they have some high school because I think the 2016 election is I'm pretty sure what divided us as students the most because everyone was talking about it there's people on left and right absolutely hate each other and then I forget that the name of our a mediator but we at night at school change it now yeah where we sat in a band room and we all sat a circle and we talked about it that kids starts beginning to talk that we're a part of different cultures you had different views on everything and they started to find another things whether they agree or disagree I think they still that still created brands and I actually think that also carried throughout the high school

115and I think that that was the most beneficial things to preface or this project because like this mind said the school is divided this project will tear them apart even more that's what hey tiny education guys didn't even have on power but you probably projector the Hovis tier universities have a series of algebra you can probably work the key word that I heard I guess is you're speaking and is the RIT and we could easily be sitting here corner with something that had gone wrong I think it's great that we're sitting here with just say wonderful and I think that speaks to the courage they all had in doing what you did each step along way and as I thought it evolved became involved through a process where you started it and every they think

116that they have pretty good big bang and we analyzed it so this is how we can do it this is how we can keep it going and improve it is that risk reward I don't know if anyone could have thought what the reward is fantastic job that you folks you kids did and we need to continue in some fashion and build on thank you discovery thank you I want all the positive comments that aunt Ella where members had offered absolutely I want you to know that we do care very much that you are everyone we are here we work for you we were fine and we work Simmons get Marshall and is such a special source of pride my question to you is what can we do and the strong hands were the type of

117demure anything that we can do that hasn't been done to support strong and the prime is having any and from any prospective a super second introduced the center I would just say that we need to figure out where the school district to keep this top don't like 13 reasons 5 with a doubt actually it will no longer be is super relative thing the pop culture but we need to figure out where this negative students to be able to keep talking about so we're going to different topics and different situation life and have students and teachers keep talking about it anomaly I think that letter happens to have changed and everybody can talk about everybody became nicer because you don't know person who is sitting next you like I'm not there story but if I go

118to sit down lunch table people I don't know I don't know the first nonetheless and we like men's room to me like they're no one's me until I finally get another and when you're nice to somebody they will almost always give you that opportunity theater isn't a comment think about the fact that this is really just opinion and we need to make sure that the papers are community to know about this because I know that's what photo fish they were a lot to talk about she'll a total of zero to talk about what we were doing some of them but affairs are commenting to know what we have done to keep the energy going from 30 years over 13 years you keep uploading loans on g3 village Design School Admission high - have cylinder a

119metal globe and they had little phenomenal process was like either my bubble differ friends over unfit like I asked Aniston and heard about the profits inherent yeah we heard about it we already know what it was tough so I am using that it didn't hit that I part that makes it hurt always obviously I wasn't like their friends you playing over TV so I think there definitely needs that we've done to get them involved in next year but a lot of people's initial idea is going to 13 more cakes and they're students but I don't think that this format will ever be as effective as it was this year like I don't think maybe we take school out of work as well now because the show has been one of the best thing I'll say

120is also going to say that for this specific project I think suicide prevention should be taught when you're really young but for this specific product this show 13 reasons why was a little too real in my opinion for sixth graders and seventh graders lots message that they're so sensitive and they don't really notice on on and so developing these people and they don't really have like a true personality they don't have who they really really are yet so for this project it was really sensitive to bring up younger kids and they chose who loved the show I'm sure that they would think some different things and not understand it as much as the high schoolers yeah you point out is right I do and I think all the boy on the show like are slick

121most of our life of your main issue with the show that they didn't include any all hot lines or anything for suicide prevention like there was never a note that hey your feelings when call this number or you can get help something like I already know kind of that was like so many issues with the show like that you've loved it they ever said like if you're feeling inspired you're having a self you're going through these things to talk about I'm back so I think that side project is like super important because like all of us past messages included about like call this number or resistance or something like the house let's take a lot of people watch the shells in my mouth I am gonna have a right to give importance to give people

122numbers to calm people contact when they are having a thing about episode accurately put the whole thing behind remember they may be family have gotten a little nervous because we know first reason why not and so we're trying to get a heavy with making sure that were prepared your school and provide opportunity then buckle different usually kids go that way I said that graduations for sold sell you seen years for a double ganger this world is really a scary meaning masking place at times yes right it can be a great place but it starts by pink art and adding names said earlier when the election process happened it was really easy to be me but it is much easier to be time because there's no ramification that comes back at you from the kind no

123to the kindness so think about that you're going out so you're going to be back here in the fall and you won't be back here in a bubble don't matter where you go that's what I and just what you have done as much family said and mr. snug you change the way people are thinking and for that this district is will be forever grateful and I wish all the success and what our feet and oxytocin to your quarters I better not have a UNM stay from income the reason we didn't project from Caitlin was to us health health whether that goal we say must how wondrous so Robert can you speak briefly on your side government origin in my office gun well for a sever air I never the postman both apply for anything and

124then as they say for Boeing has really two types and they were looking to them within giacconi scrambled when she served in her date they just got me what size of this so I was talking office and talking to the counselors from and Chanda call my mom none for time told her how I felt and so after that I put my mom raised I think I wanted to share my story with her power that the Prophet X did work by the time on and Anna me [Applause] Bangkok's kids for coming in banks too warm for taking off your cover why don't we take a quick break all right we're over here I'm better now it would be made prior to operations front gate we hadn't run human fault on the pork patty is a 2015

12515 final amended budget as well as the 2017 18 original bluffing Bob if you please refer to our college s come on I'm trying to get everything as one contendership Bolton aw he'll have people having problems numbered one through three and four topics hope you can see that we're really going to be concentrating on three four columns three four again sixteen seventeen final amended books to count three as well as talent or the 1718 original budget and so what about on the end here is that created a variant column which is comparing those two together and so really should just be the biggest options out making and so I really want to pick a data everyone tonight it's completely impossible no next year where we are not projecting a enrollment increases at this particular point

126in time so we are taking a fairly conservative approach if we go down to the revenue component and you see that local revenue is declining almost five percent 4.7 walk into mr. majority of that revenue is due to our international program revenue we're going to be going down significant students due to change in the program and so that's reflected in the revenue component and then go forward to see I the big assumption here is what came out last Friday and that was a conference committee consensus for what next year should be on a per pupil basis and that $120 per people is occurring estimate for next year so that hardly 20 dollars more perfume translate into 7631 dollars for state state aid per pupil for the district and again this happening still avoid by both

127the House and the Senate and approved as well as signed by the governor so this again is only our thoughts guest about that so you can scroll down a little people running 29 0% the left but all 1% increase year-over-year will be down to expenditures now I put here at the next nation key assumption you know three or four barbecue units we already have your TAS or we know contract obviously for the next three years one of our bargaining units we still do not so I baked in some very general assumptions which I'll hold close to my chest right now because of those negotiations but make long story short I have evasion benefit increases with all of the various right now subtle contracts they did to the gamma base in the budget in addition to

128that move down to the functional area of expenditures I provided he should view a cheat sheet similar to the cheat sheet that I provided the city morning so that provided to you I believe it was that in February when I did an appended budget and so that cheat sheet really just is allowing you to know what are these high-level functions that I'm going over because we have over 4400 accounts within the general fund and I have to group those accounts according to function in order to report to you and to the state has a very high-level role that it concise manner so that hence the cheat sheet airsoft I'm going down although that function level you'll see here that I have ten point five five percent and added needs while you have such a large

129percentage well fairly significant for you of that is to estimated fgg folk poetry as well as after middle school special education teaching positions so fully loaded offering as really high school and then all I had I'm sorry you know I urge that I had a chance and I gee I apologize at OHS and the milk for that start to make lobster short that is why that is going up a larger percentage and many of the other categories but again all of the categories are going on just took about the assumption made for both benefits as well as wages zero review that majority of injuries as well as and no different segments of the functions we obviously may not submit for insurance increases the costs of our insurance for the district of the whole liability insurance

130obviously is legal expenses that before seeing the future we increase those expenditures as well as you know equipment and obviously to constantly trust me as well as gas and gasoline for our muscle as well so all of that affected as you're all probably well aware and that's why we see the increases year-over-year now what you do see you move a little further down under support services you see operations and maintenance safety here significant decline year-over-year and really what that is really due to the project timing a lot of the dollars that are spent within maintenance and operations are really geared towards obviously improvement of our facilities as well as it's just general maintenance related items but in addition to that there are some larger projects that are actually in those funds as well or in

131those and specifically project timing for the township water on a wildcat ride obviously we have the water proof that a lot mango but as you're all well aware it took some time for concern and so if maybe process they haven't really approached the prime property yet but they're going to be doing so in the next several weeks and so that won't be paid for until the cementation independence we have a nice favorable variance this year but that money will be spent next year obviously ok so that's one example we also have a couple other examples one of those as though the night lock door locks or the district-wide you know we have to delay the economy's going very well so that company's been very really tough to schedule but we are going to take them

132here in the summer to install those while obviously the schools are for the most part empty so you want you to be aware of why is a project timing that's exactly we're moving online you see that we also have as you see a decrease in with revenue we also have decreased in waste expenditures obviously and so that's what you see a large decrease year-over-year it again you look at 15,000 feet by will amended budget four hundred and we five is a terrible $4.99 moving down significantly I believe that percentages I want to circle 30 holes 32% so we moved out for this year for the final amenities budget on what we're showing here is a truly a favorable variance and again it's mainly because of these projects that are being delayed but helps because of

133the profitable programs that we had in the district and other as well and so we're I'm showing it's a transfer to our capital projects pondo $475,000 as well and an additional four hundred and seventy five thousand dollars to our healthcare account to help gardens again for this to get any increase in unexcited increases in run healthcare claims that the district is exposed to how to go forward basis so obviously easy for say five versus five at 950 and then in addition to that and still have a little bit of contact we going into our fund equity and so maintaining approximately 15% unbalanced percentage and the percentage shopping centers so so very good unbound percentage now going forward and we're in 2018 califor we don't foresee having as it appeared obviously because of obviously our small

134increases in revenue offset by the way threatening loss so what we're seeing here the net on dollars the excess revenue over expenditures of a little over twenty five thousand dollars so at this particular one time Mike that estimate for next year's general plan is an increase of 25 and change to the general fund fund balance so so good so favorable and again this is assuming again no increase in enrollment depends one how many question online the where you see neck corners whole time you mentioned that were connected to the international program changes to the program fuel every again very briefly I'm not supposed to it found more tape and we're going to be having only a few suit take out the ready to fire the bottom line is changes from Irish a name receiveth in

135regards to not be seen collect directly from the students coming from overseas for that year we can't directly state those funds as we have permitted two years half and so what that have done is significantly decrease our revenue in the international program and so that really is the vast majority of the decrease as well as the number of students that mean are considering eligible for program the success of the second question the second statement compared to the this last school year what's the difference the Delta in students enrolled where we have we seem to hold of a person type and then I'll let you see here that have we go so you only have one year students enroll this year and there's around 40 on the site and I was also making say that in

136years past in that second year of concurrent enrollment the while the amount of revenue was injury amount of net profit was very little in such years as the jury that line was going for college through the cost because though they were a lot of students at the college level the big hit when they comes right down to it is you're going from 40 students and they're free here too right now we've got approximately 12 students coming in the fall 42:12 yeah and so the question is will why 4212 Pedigo 12 our indian students and all the two are Chinese significant the huge so the question is why are we going from Missouri of Chinese students down to a minority of change students and quite frankly a I think you all know the answers well a

137lot to do with people in our community or thinkers and said and if I am a international parent and spending premium tuition dollars than my student my son or daughter halfway around the globe to get a high school diploma am I going to be hesitant sending it to a community that maybe doesn't have so many kind things to say and we deserve from our students and more negative things yeah and so that you do we need to address it absolutely when you do drugs but the end the day that that's the truth that's why have so many viewers Mahal is Karen not professionally today those are a chance that we can just pop this issue I aired sometime in the future having expended enough that we need a little bigger we can we can add

138a few eight or ten high but I'd like to over have it and we can get together and discuss what conversation was like I don't wanna throw it on a 30-second conversation there is real awesome conversation or not any questions on that in order to a further question about the money overall I'm looking at the operation data we have pretty locked goals or maintenance wise and that I look at if I look at the number that we originally watched it our final amended budget is $400,000 different than what we originally have the deputies were taking out more projects or that wolf alligator torts lot of the water project no that's great question so really easy and drop from the original budget see if I maybe and a large portion as the important things that wasn't

139was the three elementary flavor out that be basically back fun so we put in da playground to have several folded up on States played rock structures a TA and put in a beautiful great apartment an issue that I'm good to same thing oh yes not an entire playground our playground structures we helped match the fun with that obviously the apparent Ravenna suit and so we get oh yes I mean the same thing every go as well so they fill obviously we took out some old structure and replace it in structure and matched onto that there's number one difference between two an initiative that get to let concrete replacements throughout the I'm sure any of you who drop off the kids or you know people that drop off kids or you just come from aboard we

140operated purposes we see all over you congregate there around on the sidewalks and had the serve pregnant significant important being that drop that is so at number two on number three they put a early access the fire alarm systems that were required to my law act privilege in Savannah last August as well so that was I believe right around forty thousand dollars by itself as well as basically new building control management systems and select buildings across the district so those are several things that you said fairmont only now this year that really I'll be happy to six people did the comments appreciate the way you set this up well then when I've spent here's the main top on top of it going on one piece you have to get and to have this like this

141and so concise high point I really appreciate how cute all the difficult to provide the insight Louisville meeting with detailed up we hand and time to be the high level because they're also in the house for over for court order castle so thank you does anyone any other questions regarding the proposed budget and then a bottle everybody our B and C set it off toy hammer recommendation can we have the official finally up both a recommendation absolutely or purchase of the new sports 2014 big box that we are recommended as a first set of the she responds use the subtle education in the air and just for that crack and very forward more than four month of civil order stocks on magnetic jerky that rivers a hot pocket and so this would be Julia Duffy

142of Gator needs with a very low mileage vehicle model but in addition to that replacing one of the highest mileage agenda we have over a hundred fifty thousand loudly I believe we use that a little spare right now I enter this underwear be a investment we bought huge that way two years ago and in the negatives and even purchase it went for you especially in story and just imagination get roughly and and we then use that operation because it has a great car seat and general performance the pre-employment we would use it as a spare and with Vivian excellence therefore any button any muscle its word and it is an added expense when you're working in the vehicle most of our other ones as we use uber perfect this was this one we get that

143I use it was an excellent excellent purchasing reliable even without the knowledge or Yahoo years ago and we have we've run it a lot and just worried it broke down the other day and it is just a note of your scrambling the last minute training barns and then in about yeah on the corner and you know twelve to fifteen little ones if you don't have we fail to set up a cup to henery place back and in addition to that we have legacy which the concert pianist it already has a person a GOP 18 GMC Sierra whole philosophy and her truck without very whole break about material on your goal the word horseman rather after before so it just it stack up the door and records erupted and there's actually a bowl I think they've

144taken she Palace is involving drivers or even Momo super breakfast on things like other than that inside this apartment so the request is really purchase a new vehicle and what this beautiful is used for the transportation of our department is primarily in the wintertime enamel law basically only get off the sound from certain areas on leader hot variable to do that but also our cats are going out on the town and Riverside so the truck did experiments on addition to that would be another beautiful on the district that we will use some pollen put out of that so our recommendation and again as we come out of this year's long as well oxygen I'm just curious let me improve like calculators for instance it was good makes weird economic like cut so there's the problem

145obviously critical general account and their own general one of the four hundred they're familiar Iowa banks what for voted hello p.m. Pt cells in the neck obviously a preferred 1780 motion and you get married with all of us at first unless there's no changes and our communications literally expects that insane monitoring solution but it was something extraordinary honestly aunt Esther is right what conversation and a space you know channel company to look I don't need this on money guarantee X amount because it'll actually so no units equipment for brittle that that have done Hank so continue to a couple items this correction two-twenty this is Jeffrey this is a practicality for 2017-18 as fellows not set operating at 39 100 smell commercialism properly at five point nine one five to know that it's seven point

153to serve as a unifying force to continue moving the district in a positive direction recently as board member and as per policy I ask that my remarks included in the official board minutes this seemingly simple and direct request required closer scrutiny of this law analysis has be tabled to the nines meeting for further discussion this is the last straw I really like that in the best interest of our district I needed to stop stepping up and resign hopefully my actions will lead to better conflict resolution our district has a superintendent in Tim Durham with integrity is accessible on it in hiding trust work I'm confident that going forward the board wasn't a to relegate 9/10 and keep Oxford school at the top of providing educational excellence for all of our students in closing I want
