The board may permit the use of school facilities with when such permission has been requested in writing by a responsible organization or a group of citizen and has been approved by the superintendent policy 7510. The homecoming planning
committee has requested the use of Elmont Community School District property to hold their consumer level firework display event on August 15th, 2026. This event is to include a consumer level fireworks display. sets has made the following recommendations that the organization must fulfill in order for the event to take place. First, add Elmont Community Schools as an additional insured party with a certificate of insurance. Second, $2 million general liability plus $3 million umbrella excessive coverage. Number three, complete a hold harmless and building use form. Number four, range for fire and police presence for the duration of the event. And finally, the superintendent will work together with the Elma Township and and Homecoming Planning Committee to adhere to the above stated guidelines per setting recommendation. Mrs. Smith, >> Mr. Chair, >> I move the board of education
approve the homecoming planning committee request to use the Elmont Community School District property for a consumer level firework display event on August 15th, 2026 if all five of the bullet points above are met. >> Support. Motion in support. Any discussion? >> Um I just want to state for the community that this is at no cost to the school. Um this is something that the outside organization will provide all the insurance. So there's no changes to our club or anything. >> Any other discussion? I'm not sure how to note this, I guess, but um actually found out this a little bit ago like the board that we're still in the homecoming team. um maybe note that some >> I I see that and the fact you're you're correct. I I feel like this is more of
an ask at this time. Um it I think originally it was the homecoming planning committee and then it's it's transferred over now to uh the township Belmont Township asking uh for this potential use of you are correct. So that is a correct statement. >> That is the that is the most or the most recent request was by the elite council. I I don't believe that we should change the motion because the Elmont community the homecoming planning committee is the one that will be shooting off fireworks, not the township. So even though the township has asked the building to be used, if the building is going to be used, it will be used by the home planning commission. And since they've already asked for the building use a couple of months ago, I think we're we're
clear there. >> I agree. But it seemed like maybe there was a location for someone who's on the desk because they weren't the ones that brought those trials. Um I just wanted someone to be clear with that. >> Yeah, I have no problem. >> So to clarify, yes, the homie I'm sorry, the homecoming science committee. I think I like how we would work with obviously the group, but I request was from the way I >> if if we amend the motion though we have to read to pass it for them to use it >> I think the fifth bullet point would cover >> yeah both organizations >> if that was said by the board that's one of the reasons we put it in there >> board of education approved the homecoming planning committee request to
use the Elmont community school district for a consumer level firework display event on August 15 206 if all five bullet points above are >> could we just um check that way it does that make sense over the perfect >> then I would I would recommend everybody voting motion and not make any motion >> okay >> so there was a motion on the table and We have discussions. >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? >> So that mostly gets done. >> Mrs. Smith, >> Mr. Brown, >> I move the board of education approve the homecoming planning committee to use the Elmont Community School District property for a consumer level fire display event on August 15th, 2026. Did all the five bullet points above >> motion and support? Any discussion? >> Mr. Smith. >> Yes. >> Uh
the start of this says the board may permit the use of school facilities when such permission has been requested in writing. Do we have it in writing from the necessary group? >> Oh, we did have that in a statement >> initially. I believe there was a building needs form that was completed by but that was the homecoming you know the homecoming committee >> any other discussion >> I I just want to say that I absolutely love the idea and that I've gone to the fireworks at the homecoming committee for years and they've always done a good school and I absolutely love the idea any other >> miss >> um from the other end of the aftermath so to speak is that um there's a lot of shrapnel left on our facilities that then the school
is responsible to take care of. So those are things considerations that we need to have in place that as they go through that remnants of the fireworks are then scattered along all along the property. So where they were at parking lots football field. >> Okay. really know that I mean other decision just at the homecoming committee and they said that the fireworks clean up by himself. So I'm I'm sure you sign those. Yeah. Any other discussion? All in favor? >> Any opposed? Motion carries. Um, this will bring up to questions and comments from the board of education. Any questions or comments at this point? I just wanted to say that um I understand that the budget had to be approved June 30th. I the board does three things. They hire a superintendent, they approve the
budget, and they approve policy. And being a new board member and not fully understanding everything, I mean, the budget's difficult. I I really feel like that we should get not that we couldn't have a committee but the committee brings everything to all the boards so we aren't looking at it a couple months or a couple weeks ahead of time that we fully understand what we're looking at. >> I agree with you can do better than any other questions or comments. >> Um thank you for the time you put into it Kathy. It's much appreciated. You embrace the vote. >> Any other questions or comments? Want to wish Joe good luck um your last meeting with us and wish Mrs. May a happy and any future agenda items? Mr. Brown, >> Miss Smith, I move the
board of education end the special meeting on June 30th at 6:45 p.m. >> Motion and support. Any discussion? >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Motion carries. Thank you,
